Absolutely divine here! Eat breakfast, toast is homemade and delicious 😋 even in French toast form! Also bake beans were delightful and eggs cooked perfectly.. Will be back to try dinner!
As a former resident of Corner Brook revisiting, and a chef by trade....one of my top destinations in this town was always Best Coast Cafe. And let me tell you chef to chef- You guys need to step up your game. You have been known for your Eggs Benedict for as long as I can remember and it's so sad to see you've lost your bread and butter...quite literally - The biscuits and bacon were like eating chalk . The hash browns were pale and mushy, the greens were cooked beyond recognition into mush...and finally, the hollandaise sauce...the holy water nan used to heave at me before bed was thicker. It was so bland guys, come on. Where's the acidity, where's the flavour? I've had powdered hollandaise from a package that tasted better. I certainly wasn't as excited leaving that place as I was walking in today. Leaving one star is harsh, I agree. But every element of the dish was unsatisfactory, except the egg. They somehow managed to nail the hardest element of the dish, a medium poached egg, while royally messing up the rest. I'm confused. I hope this sparks the motivation to perform some quality checks or update training. I'd love to see you guys get back to where you once were.
This was my second visit and both times I have been let down by the food and the value. Wouldn’t recommend this to friends. We ordered the dill fried chicken expecting thighs but we’re unfortunately surprised with four drumsticks for $20. I had the chicken souvlaki for $32 which looked fine but tasted sulphuric. For the price, the value just wasn’t there. The French Toast was missing some taste as well - without adding bananas and bacon would have been a travesty for $14. It is cold inside. Bring a jacket.
They’re attached to The Hew & Draw hotel and I got complimentary breakfast delivered to my hotel room twice, they were very fast in getting your meal to you. Their oatmeal was great with the brown sugar and their Best Coast Benny was fantastic! Eggs were cooked perfectly and the biscuits were fluffy and warm, such a fantastic breakfast and even better that I could enjoy it in bed.
My wife and I recently had lunch with friends at the restaurant and it was really wonderful. The food was excellent, the atmosphere is modern and comfortable, and the service was quick and friendly. Three of us had the fish and chips which was fresh and cooked perfectly. The beers are top notch. Really great to have a great restaurant/pub in the area. Highly recommend this location if you enjoy good beer and quality food.
Don't go here. I had a $32 Souvlaki entree, and it was awful. Just awful. Flavourless dry chicken with no sauce on a stale pita, no sides included. It was the quality of airline food at best, if not worse. For $32, it was a disgrace. This was alongside a couple of beers served at room temperature. Looks great at a glance but is the worst meal I've had in a long time.
We recently visited this restaurant and were pleased with the overall atmosphere and the friendly staff. However, we did have to wait quite a while for our food and the service took longer than expected. Moving on to the food itself, it was alright; nothing too special that made a lasting impression. While we enjoyed what we ate, it didn't have any unique or outstanding combinations that stood out.
Absolutely fantastic food, comfortable environment and friendly staff. Came here to celebrate my girlfriends birthday, we had Soft pretzels, Parmesan fries, Fish tacos and Steak! We weren’t waiting long for our food and it was amazing. Definitely coming back!
Ive eaten here several times. Breakfast has always been awesome. The homemade bread french toast is a huge serving and absolutely delicious. Today, I had cod tacos for lunch. I have had them once before, and i enjoyed them last time. Today, the cod was overcooked, and there was more batter than fish. The seasonings in the batter and on the fish were not really that flavorful. A little more salt would go a long way. The slaw and pico de Gallo were okay. Theres definitely room for improvement. The truffle parmesan fries were good but not much truffle taste. The aoili served with them was also good. I hope the review is received well. I feel that if customers dont let you know what works and what doesnt, it cant be improved. I wish you all the best in your continued business.
This is a beautiful spot. We just stopped for a beer. Very nice inside.
This restaurant has incredible food and a great atmosphere. I would highly recommend the restaurant.
My colleague and I went there for breakfast after work. The service was not good at all. Unfortunately the waitress was upset, it seemed like she was angry to be at work. Our food was not made how we ordered it. It was average. The restaurant itself was good it was what drew us there. But looks are misleading. I would not recommend to eat here as it was poor service and the food was average.
Great food from a great chef . Vegetarian options: I didnt have any. Food : 5/5 |
Food was good for both supper & breakfast. Service was also good. The beer is quite good - worth a trip for that alone.
Burgers are my go to meal.....love burgers! The first time I ate here the burger was very good and I looked forward to eating here when visiting Corner Brook. A few times it was not so great but last night it was terrible! August 6/24. It was $24 with fries only. It said double pattie so I thought it was worth the extra cost. At the second most expensive burger I have ever purchased anywhere I have traveled it was very dissapointing. The patties were very small, seemed like low grade meat but hard to tell since the meat was burned (well one of the two was.....I think the cook gave the other one to my wife who also had one burned pattie). It had two pickles, cheeze and bacon. Cheeze seemed like processed sliced but cant say for sure. Not even any onions...for $24! Not much taste but not horrible....just far from a $24 burger. Not even a bit of cold sleep. That was the last time. Now where do I eat when in Corner Brook? I love the restaurant and the staff are always awesome! But management needs to train their cooks. For these prices I expect very good food.....and I dont mind paying extra for good food.
Good food and service
Great breakfast
Brewery is great. We had ths nachos. They were excellent.
I miss the Best Coast Cafe. This restaurant is just a brewery with a focus on beer and alcohol. Its trendy. I enjoyed the old atmosphere of quiet cafe style with nice homemade dishes. Im not a big fan of brewery pub food. I miss the little touches like tiny tea biscuits with your eggs benny. So disappointed with the move made and that cafe being swallowed up by this location. Sad.
Very slow service, food was bland, only the atmosphere and live music was decent would NOT recommend!
I was blown away by how good the food and beer was. Amazing.
It was over 1 hour 20 minutes before we were served our food. The Souvlaki chicken was just grilled chicken on a skewer with absolutely no marinade or Greek spices. Very disappointing! Bar service was good.
Service and atmosphere was good, the food was lacking. I had the Korean sweet and spicy chicken and the Parmesan truffle fries, it was okay nothing great or memorable. Cool spot for a drink none the less.
1 star for only having unisex bathrooms. This to me shows that the owners lack self awareness, basic common sense, and ability to read the room. When I pointed out that this may be awkward and unsafe, particularly for women, the server exhibited the same qualities. The food was good the first time I came about a year ago. The quality has declined recently.
Made a reservation for 2 for an anniversary, when we got there we were seated at a very awkward small table around a lot of people despite the place being fairly empty . Our server julie immediately came over and noticed the discomfort in our seating and asked us if we d like to move anywhere at all ! AWESOME service . We both had the steak meal and I must say the presentation was amazing and the seasoning / cooking was awesome but the quality of the meat was a little disappointing. I will add that our awesome server Julie did let us know prior to ordering that they didn t have their regular steaks and had striploin instead so for that reason I m maintaining a 5 star rating just to give the benifet of the doubt . I ve had breakfast here before and the food was amazing then as well ! . Julie our server was absolutely amazing . Super polite , friendly and helpful Atmosphere 5/5 Service 10/10 Presentation 10/10 Food 4/5
Always a good place to go for lunch! Relaxed and the food is good, staff are friendly.
Honestly, there isnt a better restaurant in Corner Brook. But I just tried to get a gift card for someone for Christmas and you have to email the owner, wait for a reply, then do an E transfer to pay for it, and then it has to be picked up. I can live with the last part, but the rest is a ridiculous process that I cant bother doing. Its 2023. Step it up.
We had two breakfast classics. One was substituted with thick cut bacon and both scrambled eggs. Our egss were slimy. Undercooked and uneaten. The thick cut bacon was undercooked. The regular bacon was deep fried. The slimy eggs were tossed on top of the hash browns so the hash browns were soggy too. The server asked how it was and was told about the undercooked eggs. He shrugged it off. When paying for the bill, was charged $2 for substituted thick cut bacon but only got two pieces. When the other plate had 4 pieces of regular bacon... This didnt really make sense... But okay. The service was okay, we waited over 30 minutes for our food... I was disappointed. Total bill was $41.
Food was very good. The fish and chips were great. Staff was very friendly, the restaurant itself is well designed. The beer provided by Boomstick brewery was also very good!
Waited 1.5 hours for food that never came. Paid for our drinks and left. It was a Tuesday night, not full either at 8pm that we ordered at. It might look fancy, but expect dumpster dive service.
One of the best restaurants on the West Coast of Newfoundland. A great place to visit for special occasions or just going out for food and drinks with friends. Yes, it can be more expensive but they still offer great choices that are a great bang for your buck. Its great to see an award winning local chef start off with his smaller business called the Best Coast Cafe and now running this amazing restaurant attached to the best Hotel in the area as well. Congrats!
Wow! We should have made a reservation but who would have thought on a Monday night....We were offered seating at the bar, which was fine. We werent at the bar too long before being reseated by the window. We started with the Mussels. We have eaten a lot of mussels but these were top of the chart. They were in a tabasco sauce, not hot but a nice touch of heat. The mussels were slightly bigger than we are used to but they were cooked to perfection. My wife ordered the fish tacos appetizer, which she said were excellent. I ordered the burger special with a lettuce wrap. The lettuce was perfect and I was able to actually hold the burger to eat it. The burger was cooked precisely.
Nice, modern space with friendly servers. Food was just ok. They were out of a lot of stuff and what they did have wasn t great. Fries with my burger were just a bunch of little over cooked stubs.
Service is great but the cooks are failing to deliver on their part. I have been dining at this restaurant consistently since may 2022 and I had always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The last few months (since the menu changed) the food has been inconsistent. The hanger stake, pulled pork spring rolls, salmon skewers, and potato salad are not edible. The risotto balls are not as good as they used to be and the parm fries are now over cooked/over seasoned at times. I went with my family this evening and they didnt have half of their menu items and what we did have was horrible. The atmosphere and the service are the only positives now. I am very disappointed that I ve gotten to the point of writing this review and I will not be returning anytime soon.
38$ for that spaghetti and ginger ale like I got it fancy place but come on hopefully the portions are bigger when you eat on the spot !
Just awesome, you have to go!
Great spot. Excellent drinks with a lot of thought put into both the mixed drinks and the beers (loved the Shake n Bakeapple in particular). Good was also mostly great. The veggie dumplings and cinnamon bun were both disappointing, but everything else was fantastic. Highly recommend the arancini, the pasta, and the spring rolls. The burgers were also great, and we loved the garlic butter on the appetizer bread. All in all very happy.
The food is all made in house. Its super fresh, generous portions and creative use of local and seasonal ingredients. We ended up having three meals here because it was so good!
Enjoyed many a meal and refreshment here during a recent visit to Corner Brook. Everything was great. Service may have been a bit slow at times but they were very busy.
Great place for quick pub food, great drinks and service.
Friendly and communicative staff. Im a celiac, and they were very knowledgeable and helpful ! I felt safe eating there and everything tasted great.
This is a really fantastic restaurant. Delicious dishes that are sure to satisfy. I would say the menu straddles between high-end pub fare to fine dining. Its in a good location, the staff are great and it was an all around wonderful experience.
The atmosphere of this restaurant is excellent, as are the cocktails and beer - highly recommend the bakeapple cocktail. However, the food is simply not good. I have tried Best Cost for brunch and dinner on multiple occasions and always leave extraordinarily disappointed with the meal. Overpriced and lacking any quality or passion - nearly inedible.
Although not advertised, and probably tough to accomodate on a busier night, the staff worked with me to meet my dietary needs! I appreciate their hard work. If you are gluten free or have other food allergies, would recommend giving it a try. Pretty hipster for the locale, but typical new age brew pub feel. I managed to get pan fried cod and it was fantastic!
The restaurant had been bombarded by two cruise ships before we arrived. They didn t have a lot of the menu items but the host did everything in his ability to make it an enjoyable dinner. I would go back.
Beer, food & service were all great! Very nice taproom
In town for a few days and wanted to catch up with a few friends last night. We didn t expect live music or that it would be SO LOUD on a Tuesday night! The food was excellent but the concert wasn t the right atmosphere for dining. It is now the next day and my ears are still ringing and throat sore from trying to talk to my friends. Update: One of my friends spoke to our waitress who also agreed that the music was too loud. Apparently when the performer was asked to reduce the volume he increased it instead. Knowing that has really coloured my experience so I don t plan on ever returning. It s a shame because I loved Best Coast when it was on Broadway.
A fantastic experience. The food, the service. Everything was excellent. Will absolutely be returning
My waitress was amazing! The food was incredible! Im not a big fish person, but theirs I would eat again! And the creme brulee omg!
Very small portion fish on the fish and chips for the price taste great just your average tourist trap prices
My wife and I celebrated our first Anniversary. The steak was cook perfectly. She enjoy her Vegetable dumplings. Hats off to the chefs. Enjoy the friendly service and surprise by the real fireplace. Would go again.
I can t understand why this place doesn t have higher reviews. Stayed at the adjoining hotel for two nights, had breakfast twice at the restaurant. It was AMAZING and well beyond what I would expect in a town of this size. Excellent gastropub feel, with a chef who know what they re doing. Thank you!
Best restaurant in town! Ambiance is great, servers are super nice and helpful, food is beautifully presented and taste even better. Ps. Seating by the fireplace is the best ;)
Been here a few times, first two times were 5 stars all the way, burger, fish tacos, risotto balls, service was impeccable the first couple times there. The last time I went Saturday past was a let down. Our appetizer never came. I asked for mushrooms with my steak, never came, we both had steak with fries and there was just nothing fancy about it.. nothing special about the fries, regular old Ketchup. Wasnt worth $42 each plus taxes tip and drinks. Our server was rushed.
Great service, great food!
The chef was super accommodating for the dietary restrictions in my group (vegetarian and vegan) and offered to make options that were not on the menu. The curry was delicious!
I only tried the braised pork belly and the duck penne and they were very good . I would come back. Service is great as well. The wood fireplace is amazing.
Great food and ambience.
Had the chowder and a couple of Hot Bird Bitter pints. Perfect atmosphere and super friendly staff. Very cool vibe. A must when in Corner Brook. Ask about the Boometick Brewing logo. You ll never guess
Amazing! Definitely recommend
Can t give this a one star just because of the place it used to be. It used to be the best breakfast/brunch spot in town before they moved locations. The food itself is pretty good (although the fact that breakfast service is no longer all day is very disappointing). Now the wait for food is endless (current 1h30m waiting with about 20 people waiting ahead of us for food), wait staff while friendly seem to be more concerned about seating people for the long wait than anything else. I understand a business can grow and priorities can change but rename the place if you want to adopt a whole new identity.
Absolutely delicious food. Been there a few times now. The only downside is the often lengthy wait for food, even when its not busy.
Upon initial observations this place had potential. It is clean and the restaurant was modern and had a nice ambiance. We had breakfast (2 adults and 4 children). It was overpriced and breakfast took about 20 minutes. The food was so so. Nothing spectacular. The fish cakes were definitely too salty.
My wife and I attempted to eat at this restaurant but were unable to get reasonable service or food. We waited 1.5 hours for spring rolls and chicken tacos that never showed up. The server spoke to us once in the 1.5 hours we were there. Eventually I got fed up and asked to pay my bill and cancel my food. I asked what the cause of the delay was and the answer I got was the patio is open. Zero explanation, no discount offered, no regard for customer experience. They were happy to see me walk.
Had breakfast & dinner here. Great food & service. Boomstick brewery offers a flight of beers to try. I would highly recommend checking out this restaurant.
Feel bad for the server who was trying to manage nine tables on her own. Took an hour to get our appetizer - green curry mussels that came without any green curry. They were good mussels, just not green curry mussels. Waited another 45 minutes before they brought out one entree. I sat and stared at that for 25 minutes while my dining partner waited for hers. We asked for the manager who was very nice and apologized. We paid for our drinks, tipped the unfortunate waitress and left hungry.
Great experience and will definitely return! John was attentive and friendly. Our food was delicious and the rooftop patio is delightful.
Yummy food but the price did not match the portion sizes
Stopped in Corner Brook for the night, and couldnt ask for a better dinner for the family. Kids tacos were awesome - they should be on the adult menu! Burgers were top shelf, and the beer was lovely. Kid-friendliness: Small but excellent kids menu.
One of the best restaurants on the best coast.
Amazing food! A bit of a wait but so worth it. Highly recommend the French toast and fish and chips!
Really enjoyed the food! Fish and chips were delicious.
Wait time for food was 2 hours ,. Restaurant wasnt overly full. Had to request our check , which took 30 minutes. Portion size was small. This restaurant is not what it is hyped up to be. Unless you have 3 hours plus to go to a restaurant and arent hungry ,maybe it might be a good place for you .
Took 45 minutes to get breakfast, toast showed up 5 minutes after we first got it, waited 10 minutes to get milk for coffee, won t eat there again
That food and service for dinner was great! I also had a few beers and was impressed by each!
Food and service was good. Fries were way over seasoned. Beers are ok!
Slightly over priced. Definitely won t come again.
Great atmosphere nothing is boring awesome beer and the food is flawless and delicious
We went there for lunch and ordered the chicken tacos. It was terrible terrible and quite expensive. My friend ordered the fries and they were disgusting. I do not recommend this place.
This is a lovely spot! Great food, nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. I only gave 4.5 stars because we had to wait an extremely long time for our food. However, our waitress assured us this was not at all the norm and to compensate for it management gave us our entire meal on the house! We didnt even have to ask, they initiated the gesture. We were extremely surprised by this and quite pleased. As first impressions go, this place is a win and definitely someplace we will go again. Highly recommend!
Tacos were garbage(over priced old El Paso taco kit) sliders were decent, fries were alright. Service and atmosphere was top notch.
Awesome staff. Great eating experience. Menu changes are spot on, every time. Dress as you want. Open and inviting atmosphere. My second time there and was even better!
Great food with lots of local flavours. Friendly service and a modern atmosphere.
Your website is a joke. Went on to see the menu but can not make out anything as the site is way to small for any one to read. I wonder if this is done intentionally!!
Our daughter introduced us to this restaurant on Monday for lunch. We had the cod sandwich with Parmesan fries and my wife had the fish tacos. Let me tell you it was delicious. The craft beer was also very tasty. The services was outstanding. Mike thanks for taking care of us. Anyone visiting Corner Brook should make this a must dine restaurant. You won t be disappointed.
We waited 45 minutes for our order only to find out that it had not been passed on to the kitchen. (The server did indicate we would be given a discount should we want to reorder). May be a great place to go on a hot day because the A/C was up on bust!
Good food and very friendly staff, very very slow though. For me and my son, we had a fish and chips and a kids burger. Took about an hour and a half to get our food. This was perfect for us as I was trying fo kill some time, so if you are looking to kill some time or have drinks with food its one of the best places Ive been. Not great for a quick bite at all though.
Great service and ambience. Recommend the superb Surf & Turf, and the beer, off course!
I was looking forward to trying a new local restaurant when home on vacation and was very disappointed. Showed up for breakfast and ordered at 10:30. The place was only half full and we had to wait until almost 12 to get our food. Only saw the server twice the entire time in the restaurant. When the food finally came, the eggs were not cooked as asked, the bacon was dry and the toast had no butter on it. We didn t even have cutlery at our table and had to ask for it. Food was mediocre at best, overpriced and took way to long. I will not be back.
Worst food and service
Stopped by this evening for a meal with my family. The meal was wonderful, the beer was great, the mock tails that others had were good, and the service was fantastic. Quite recommended.
Great place for our anniversary, the meals were delicious and service was great. Never disappoints!
Highly recommend Best Coast Restaurant. The restaurant itself is very beautiful, the staff was very friendly and the beer was amazing! The food, as always, was incredible! We ve had every meal here, and it has all been delicious. You ll definitely want to eat here if you come to Corner Brook! Amazing local business! Also, to those people commenting on the speed of service, I just want to point out that great food takes time to prepare, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is to be enjoyed and not rushed!
Loved it!
Nobody answered the phone for about a half hour, finally got through at just after 10am to order breakfast to pick up. Was told that unless Im staying at the hotel that they stopped serving breakfast although it says online that breakfast is until 11am. Sunday morning on a long weekend.
The closest thing to the city after a long road trip on the Viking Trail. Nice atmosphere, good beer
I had the best coast burger. It was the best burger I have ever eaten. The whole meal and the drinks were fantastic, as was the service and atmosphere. I will be back for sure. Highly recommend.
Service & meal were excellent. Will definitely return
I went for brunch with family - I enjoyed the cod cakes and the service was friendly and attentive. A good addition to downtown Corner Brook!
Great restaurant! It does get very busy around dinner time so plan to eat at off times or make a reservation. The soft pretzels were a perfect snack to enjoy with a beer, and the mussels with green curry sauce were delicious. The breakfast was outstanding! Guests of the Hew & Draw Hotel get breakfast included, and it was the best hotel breakfast weve had. Perfect Eggs Benedict and French Toast.
I love this place. Food I used to frequent here before the pandemic and I would say the food is even better now. Beer I know best coast doesnt make the beer but its some of the best executed common craft styles. Theres a beer here for everyone. Staff Ive always come during peak times (Friday lunch) and had top notch service. And even if I didnt... were in a pandemic and I think we could all be kind to front-of-line workers and take it easy on the harsh reviews at a time like this. Decor This is the nicest space in town, hands down.
We had risotto balls, pork belly, lamb shanks, chicken with wild rice, lemon meringue tart and chocolate torte. All delicious. Washed down with beer on tap from broomstick brewing. Modern space with great atmosphere.
This restuarant does not live up to its hype. Highly disappointed. Their were no vegetarian meal options other than appetizers of deep fried risotto balls (which did not come in a sauce but with a side of strange aioli) and french fries that came with a small side of curry soup. Very bizarre, fries looked great but were highly oversalted. The beef tacos were so full that you couldnt pick them up to eat which isnt overly bad but none of the grease was drained from the meat.. also very sweet tasting. Would be a lot better if it came with less filing. Not enjoyable. The chicken thigh sliders with spicy slaw was 85% bun, one small bite of chicken and wasnt spicy at all. The garlic sriracha shrimp was rubbery and had a very off putting taste. Overall, nothing we ordered was worth a fraction of the cost we paid. They were also out of several beers from the menu. Would not recommend. Maybe their full dinner menu items might be okay but the appetizers fell extremely short of what we were expecting.
We ate on the rooftop patio. Very very slow getting our drinks and meal. We ordered the wings and risotto balls. The wings were just regular zinger wings so nothing special there. The risotto balls were good. Would suggest a small bar on the roof so drinks could be served a lot quicker at least! Especially if you have to wait so long for your food. Overpriced in my opinion. Will go back to try something from the main menu downstairs now the weather is getting cooler. Hopefully will have a better experience!
Fantastic spot! During our stay at the Hew and Draw, we ate breakfast from here each morning. Portions were quite large and delicious - especially their homemade bread! We loved the friendliness of the staff and the atmosphere.
