Philos Greek Cuisine and Pizzeria in Cornwall

Im from Kingston and i was helping the food delivery flanigan driver today and we got a pizza. By far the best fricken pizza Ive ever had! I will certainly be returning.

Went there for supper one night with me and my gf and we aint big eaters we can usually share one plate and thats what we wanted to do one night is share a sub and the fries and these greedy people will charge u an extra $5 if share a plate that is disgusting business..im spreading the word and alot of people are disgusted with this and another thing Im so fed up and annoyed of this paper on the tables like its redicules covid is over like move on your causing more of a carbon foot print wasting all this paper then to simply wipe a table down like before ..but anyways Im done with this place its gone down hill and greedy peace out . Our third time dining in as a family of 5. Took 10 minutes before a drink order was taken, and over an hour and 15 mins wait for food. We had tickets for pumpkin inferno, and we were late. Food was cold, so must have been sitting. We won t be back for the simplicity of we never get a server that can handle the dining room.

The food was great. Our waitress was fantastic. She have great suggestions and was super pleasant.

Great food and descent price

Second time we have ordered a medium vegetarian pizza on takeout. Without any hesitation I recommend this pizza. It is tasty, well cooked and NOT salty like so many other pizzas. Plenty of vegetables and very tasty. We will be back for sure.

I didnt like the lasagna. It was bland and the noodles were pastey. It wasnt layered like a traditional lasagna and it was a disappointment right from the moment it arrived to the table. I didnt eat much of it and the server seemed surprised when I said I didnt want to bring the rest with me and that I didnt like my meal.

Amazing food

Very good food, although the fish was not very tasty. The waitress never once checked on us after bringing our food( they were very busy though) They have $10 kids meals that comes with a drink and dessert. Overall our family enjoyed our experience.

Sept. 7, 2024 and Sept.8,2024 around 4:00pm not enough staff horrible service, gingerale all watery, chicken in chicken Cesar salad very dried out, Greek potatoes burnt, chicken pita was very dried out. Wait times for coffee were terrible. No at all the restaurant we know and love.

Had their grilled chicken burger delicious it was so big that I had to take half home. All their food is great.. Friendly staff Food

Everything about this restaurant is amazing, the food came quickly and was prepared well, the service was fantastic, my waitress (Sue) was amazing.

Unfortunatly philos will be off the table for us from now on. Had a long weekend of camping and wanted to pick up something to fill us up, me and my boyfriend ordered 2 souvlaki platter to go, one with pork and one chicken my boyfriend got a caesar salad and i got greek. Both salads were inedible as the lettuce was brown and slimey. My boyfriends pork looked and tasted like steak and our rice to salad ratio was about 10/90. Without mentioning the house dressing was very watered down and didnt have the good vinegar taste it usually has. 50$ worth of food and we unfortunatley ate a fraction of what we payed for. Disgusting and dissapointing.

Ordered $50 worth of food and maybe ate about $15 worth of it. Everything else was litterally inedible. Where do you guys buy your lettuce? The reduction rack at the grocery store? And when did you guys get steak on the menu cause that was definitely not pork. Thank you Philos. Used to order here all the time and now, I just cant be bothered anymore as its become a huge waste of money, unfortunately.

One of the best pizzas Ive eaten, and I eat it often in my area. So vrm excellent, all dressed, bacon, onion.

Id like to start by saying the food was great, amazing as usual, however the service was terrible. First of all, there was a fly in my water and cobwebs covering the windowsills. When my family arrived there were a couple other full tables and by the time we finished ordering, the other customers had left. We were the only ones in the restaurant, which should mean service would be quick and reliable, especially when there were at least five waitresses visible. After receiving our main dishes around 2:30, it took until nearly 3:30 before someone checked back in with us, at which point we had been waiting to leave for half an hour. The waitresses were loudly complaining about customers and their coworkers and at no point did anyone apologize for how long we waited. Incredibly disappointed. Now I know where not to go out for lunch on a Wednesday.

Great food , prices have gone up but the staff are friendly and the food is always good Wheelchair accessibility: I used a wide wheelchair and the restaurant was accessible although you may need help to get through the doors as the automatic doors where not working, my son had to hold open the bathroom door for me to get in and out , the staff where helpful

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the restaurant. The food was incredibly delicious. We stumbled upon this gem by chance while dealing with car troubles and opting to take the train home. Located conveniently next to the station, we decided to give it a try, and were so glad we did. The quality of the food exceeded our expectations, especially given its affordability.

Worst steak ever but fettuccine Alfredo was good

I always go to this place when in Cornwall visiting family.

The food here was phenomenal. All 4 of us had something different (fish & chips, salad, pizza, salmon) and all loved our meal. We will definitely stop by next time were in the area. Highly recommend.

My go to place when I want take out, the food is always delicious and very filling! Their tzatziki sauce is the absolute BEST in town hands down (I always order the souvlaki pita platter and its to DIE for) Their pizzas are also really good and my husbands go to when ordering. I highly recommend their Garlic shrimp au gratin, its mouth watering good and comes with delicious bread to soak up all that garlic butter the staff is also amazing here! Dine in is wonderful, great seating options and all around a really nice place to eat in. I cannot recommend this place enough and cannot wait until my next order!

Come here often enough/order lots of pickup but super unhappy with the fact that you cannot order a kids meal for takeout (along with other items).. very ridiculous as Im not wanting to spend $18 for a meal for my 3 year old.. Kid-friendliness: Not very kid friendly considering you cant order take out for them... In house its okay/comparable to other restaurants

I love their food. The salad dressing is the best. I went with my one year old son and my waitress was so accommodating. My little one loves the chicken slouvaki.

Like I shared above, the food and service was fantastic. Things were a little slow, but they were swamped. Still worth the wait, will definitely go back.

Weve been many times, the portions are decent size...food is usually decent..but not a place for steak...Our server was great ,they brought out another steak as first over cooked...Sadly still not quality and tender...Weve had many decent meals in past, management did correct the issue...

No visit to Cornwall area is complete without dining at Philos. Their food is impeccably prepared, their portions are beyond generous and the owner are just lovely people. Always exceeds expectations!

So i drive transport truck and sick out truckstop food.. Ask in irving for good food in the area... The lady behind me spoke up and said philos... So i dropped my trailer and we came to Philos... 3 of us drivers.. Ordered a munchie platter to share... And a jumbo meat lover for us to share...we are all big eaters and only ate 2 slices each and couldnt get no further needed take out boxs...wow what a pizza i will 100% recommend this place..and as a truck driver we eat at alot of different places.. And this is good pizza. Our server.. What a gem..so sweet and nice.. And oh btw im still sitting here doing this review because i wanted to make sure i dont forget, because this place is worth the review... Thank you Kaitlyn and Philos..

If you want quantity over quality, this is the place to go! My Wife and I shared the Athenian Feast for 2. The meat was quite dry, the rice was good., the potatoes so so, the only great tasting meat on the platter was the sausage.

I came in after a long journey. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. The spinach pie Spanikopita was hot and there was plenty to eat. The wind was howling that night and I found the restaurant cold inside, but the food made up for the cool temperature.

The food is excellent and fairly priced for the portion size. I enjoy their souvlaki, pizzaghetti, lasagna and that salad dressing is to die for! Yum! When there have been small issues with missing items with delivery(its happened twice) they were quick to rectify the situation in a hassle free way. I enjoy dining in the restaurant as well. Best meal I had in Cornwall the week I was there was at Philos. It came as a recommendation from one of the locals

Food is absolutely to die for, the servers are very friendly, and its really inexpensive. 4 people to have a meal and take away the house dressing was 100$, which is unheard of pricing. 16$ for a massive plate of food.

First off, the food is good if you dine in usually. They definitely have the best greek potatoes and greek dressing. The lasagna is not that great. 90% noodles, and not a lot of flavor. Its VERY loud in the restaurant. I wouldnt go on a date night. The inconsistencies are from delivery. I was overcharged, and the food was really hit and miss with delivery. Missing items, food under cooked, food over cooked and burnt, food inconsistent. When its good, its really good but its too expensive to keep getting things wrong.

Standard diner food, for 3 it cost $70 a little too pricey to be average?

Hands down one of the tastiest restaurants in Cornwall Ontario. The food is always sensational, served hot , super large portions, affordable prices, homey feel/atmosphere, and served with a friendly smile. I would rank this a 5 star restaurant. Highly recommended.

A true hidden gem in Cornwall, this restaurant has a diverse menu, friendly staff and great prices. Each time I have been they have impressed me more with the level and speed of service. Parking: Very large parking lot.

Twice we were told they had Saganaki available as an appetizer, and twice informed 15min after our main course orders were placed, they were out of Saganaki. This, after calling in prior to our arrival 30minutes in advance, to confirm they were still serving it, and was ensured they had plenty of Saganaki. It was all a big scam to get us in, and to order the main courses... to turn around and say they were out of it. We will never be back!, and Im a 30% tipper!

This place is awesome in every way. Great service, outstanding food, and at a price that is extremely reasonable. I always think they forgot to charge some things, but they are just not gouging customers like everywhere else is. Kid-friendliness: Kids love their table size paper and crayons.

So earlier my mom,grandmother, and I went to eat here. All is good until my mom starts eating her chicken brochette she says it tastes like charcoal/lighter fluid which yes is what they cook it under but shouldn t have that taste. I smell it and it does smell like charcoal. She tells the waitress and she agrees so she goes back and tells the manager who was also the cook at the time. HE ATE some of her chicken in the back then comes back with the waitress and sets her food back down and starts arguing with my mother saying it s fine but my mom can clearly taste it. Then in front of us he puts his hands in her dish and eats another piece just to show her it s fine. Not very good customer service from him. The waitress is nice but the manager/cook not so much. I guess you can t have complaints about his food even if you can taste it yourself. At least they didn t charge us for the food she got. Even my grandmother had the same thing and it wasn t like that it was just my mothers

Attended Philos today for an early dinner with two others. The atmosphere was subpar as expected from most causal family run restaurant. Food was mediocre, American size portions. Ordered the chicken souvlaki as recommended by our server. Soo much food but the tiniest amount of tzatziki sauce was provided with the dinner (refer to photo). I asked for another tzatziki sauce and the server said it would be an additional $4.00. Really?? That s ridiculous. How about you cut your portions down by half and provide a sufficient amount of sauce (pretty much the only reason people order this meal!!). My plate still looked full when I was done. I did not get extra sauce. $4.00 is 25% of the cost and the staple of the meal. Huge price gouge!

This place is normally great food. I was there with 4 other people on Monday July 24th 2023 and we spent the time fighting off fruit flies. 2 of us were affected and ended up bringing our food home to throw in the trash.

Food is good but has terrible service. Last visit, after seating we were ignored and waitress served table that arrived after us. So, we went elsewhere. Other recent visit was ok, service was slow but not terrible. Not a restaurant I would recommend in Cornwall

An amazing meal is always to be found here. Even though the service can be hit and miss. One server was downright surly and forget half our order, took 20m to get us coffee, one server was right on top of everything and bright and cheery. But with that huge portion of delicious food in front of me I never care. The place could be cleaned a little better. But once again, the food! If you are in Cornwall, eat here! You wont be sorry! Vegetarian options: Best spanakopita Ive had in my entire life!

Had supper with friends yesterday. Not like it used to be. Food was so-so ordered butterfly shrimp platter, and vegetables were not fresh made but from a frozen bag and cold, rice lukewarm and potatos too. So many flies swarming around us and other tables not sure why the health dept are not visiting this place or someone at least take the time to swat them when closed. Service was ok not great. No bar menu. I don t think I will be visiting Philos in the future. Like I said not as good as it used to be. Very disappointing.

I had lunch here on a Thursday and the food was great. The bacon burger was delicious.

First time stopping in wasn t impressed at all. Service was super slow. Wasn t overly busy. We ordered a starter and our meals at the same time as we waited our waitress was found to be sitting at customers tables. While other customers walked out from not being served. We still stayed. Our drinks took longer than needed and was wrong water instead of Diet Pepsi. :/. When out starters finally showed up it looked like it was deep fired twice. We didn t even have time to get half way through the starter being shared by 3 people and our main course was being rushed to the table. Odd. For sure but ok presentation was ok at best. One bit in to the chicken and it was cold. All our chicken was cold. About the only good thing about the meal was the salad. When we complained we got told to wait for the waitress. When she came she wasn t too. Ice about this situation. Instead of refunding our bearly eaten meals she credited back one plate of food when I agreed to pay with zero tip she slammed the receipt down on the table and said here s your receipt and walked away. Very disappointed Custer will not return. Don t recommend this place. Shame as it does has potential.

Food is decent here, big portions. Lately the service here the last couple times has been horrendous. Waited 10 minutes to be seated in a nearly empty restaurant because about three different hosts and hostesses just stared at us and walked around like they didn t know what they were there to do for their job and that s to seat people who walk in. Also the service from server the last two times has been horrendously slow, took 2.5 hours from time walking in to the time we got our bill. Screwed up our orders past two times when I am very clear when ordering what I want and either the server or kitchen staff just don t care enough to make the orders correctly. Food was cold by the time they finally brought it to me. Figure it out people! Stop slacking! Its not rocket science!

Well. Things changed a bit since my original 4 star review 2 years ago. Went there today. My chicken souvlaki was, shall we say, a bit undercooked. One piece anyway. Pretty gurgly ar the moment. The salsa from my some nachos smelled like beer and tasted funny. I told the waitress, but she seemed unconcerned. Kind of sad. I like this place

When there with my family to celebrate Birthday,,was disappointed with the rice it was cold and not the usual fluffy delicious been going there for years, and now they charge to take some salad dressing home if I cant eat all in the restaurant as I always order salad on the side which they never used to which I dont see the reason if I prefer to put the dressing on my own way and the salad would be wilted the next day if I have it for lunch, I used to love dining there but will think twice next time.

The WORST service we have ever had in any restaurant ever !!!!! Waitress was rude. Slammed down the utensils and walked away. Waitress had the personality of a knat. No greeting , pleasant or otherwise! No smile, she did not come back to inquire how the meal was. She got .45 cents and that was too much . I do not recommend this restaurant. Great place honestly. The food is delicious and everything Ive tried has never let me down. The people are nice and overall its just a great magnificent place

We came to visit Long sault parkway, searched for near by restaurant and this came up at a short drive. Chicken souvlaki and house dressing was awesome AAAA+. However, I wouldn t recommend or have the gyro pita again the gyro strips felt like it was from a box and 4 strips of gyro in a pita. All their entrees are served in large plates and portions are filling. Poutine was pretty decent but it was with mozzarella cheese and not the traditional cheese curds. Overall we definitely enjoyed the ambiance and excellent service will most likely visit again when we come back to Cornwall. Vegetarian options: Salad, cheese pizza, rice, fries and etc. Parking: Lots of parking but can get pretty busy during peak hours. We went right at supper 5:45ish on a sat and parking was pretty full. Kid-friendliness: They have high chair and booster seats, they provide crayons and drawing page.

We had the special, lentil soup, lasagna, dessert, and coffees . Everything tasted great and at a great price. Atmosphere is a bit loud, Service is great.

My boyfriend and I went out for a date and both got Alfredo pasta. We both are now suffering from food poisoning, throwing up or on the toilet every 5 minutes.

Used to be so delicious, I was obsessed with this place. I craved their food all the time. Unfortunately their staff is wildly inconsistent. You have about a 30% chance of getting the good chef. If they had the same food quality no matter who is on shift they could be great.

I ve loved philos for years but I went today and was very disappointed, I understand it was packed but waitress brought 3 other people who came in 10 minutes after us their food, it could ve been because I ordered the meat stick plater but it s just salad, rice and chicken. The potatoes were stale and a bit cold, we weren t even finished eating 5 minutes after she put or plates down she came around and tossed down a to go box on our table. Like I said it s kind of understandable with how packed it was but she had no problem talking to the people around us. Very sad I loved this place so much but I will no longer feel welcomed.

Unhappy with our take out experience!! First time not being able to dine in. Portion was significantly smaller. One greek salad had no feta and both had no olives!! You also had to cut up the salad before eating it because such big chunks. Small dressing and an extra is $1 for a little container and extra taziki was $7!!!!. Container wasnt even filled for that price. Also no napkins in the bag or cutlery. We will not be doing take out again. I couldnt find prices online either. Also the salad is in getting soggy with the hot food unless you want to pay extra for a container. The pork Slouvaki was great and not dried out like our previous visit. Also the expensive taziki was very tasty. The one that comes with the meal is way to small for the 2 stick dinner. We normally order gift certificates for Christmas but this year we are going to pass. .

Staff was awesome, our waitress, (cant remember her name but short/medium blonde hair) God bless her, was running around like a chicken with its head cut off but still managed to keep the warmest attitude and every single customer happy. food was fantastic. I got pork souvlaki and a pizza. I took one bite of the souvlaki, blinked, and the rest was gone. So good!!! Pizza came in traditional cornwall style with cheese over toppings, and was delicious. It was ever so slightly undercooked, but I know its because it was my birthday and they wanted to get the food out quickly. Nevertheless it was fantastic! It was also amazing the next day after a quick refry in the airfryer. 10000% would recommend
