Blue Anchor in Cornwall

The service was A1, but I chose the only meal without meat, and that was a beet and goat cheese salad. The greens were limp, the cubed beets were clearly from a can and very soft, and a few regular, raw almonds in top (no candied nuts, as indicated in the menu). I cant recall the precise cost for the salad, but it was over $20. My partner chose the fish and chips. It was very greasy, and he wasnt well afterward. We did not enjoy the food at this establishment whatsoever.

On our visit in May 2024, our group thoroughly enjoyed our meals and accommodating the dietary requirements was spot on! The celiac had the Captains Wrap (sans wrap), the vegetarians had the taco salad (seasoned rice substituted for beef) and the reviews were very positive. Others had nothing but positives about the fish & chips, the bruschetta shrimp ceasar salad, the chicken chipotle wrap, and my roast beef dip was delish! Also, perfection on the ceasar (no tabasco, extra worcestershire) Dietary restrictions: The gluten free folks, and vegetarian folks had personal service ensuring their dietary requirements were well handled.

Wednesday wings! Wings were well cooked. Nice and crispy, not overcooked. The waitress was very nice. Not very crowded.

If you are going to charge 33 dollars for a lobster roll at least put the effort into it...add mayo, salt, pepper, celery, onion...instead of frozen lobster thrown onto a hot dog bun...really. You have a great location people are coming to you....make the effort.

Arrive early and you ll be guaranteed a seat on the terasse. Beautiful location makes you feel like you re far away on vacation! Food was delicious. Fish and chips are perfect and the brisket poutine was delicious !

First time eating here yesterday and WOW They had a specific Father s Day menu, I opted for the small fish and chip and mannnnnnn it did not disappoint!! Beautiful piece of Haddock, so super fresh and delicious, and the fries were great! The key lime pie was scrumptious! We were not able to make reservations on the patio, which was full when we arrived, there was one table but I was told there was a 1hr wait? Waiting list, I guess you need to show up in person and then be added to the list? So I would say inside is quite a different atmosphere inside. Extremely loud, we were with my husbands parents but once seated for a while it seemed to normalize and not feel so harsh. The staff are super friendly and attentive! We will definitely be back when in the area!

Stunning view of the St Lawrence River. Simple but adequate decor. Service was excellent. The food was very tasty. We have a family tradition going here spanning years and well keep looking forward to coming back.

Thats $30 Lobster roll... drinks are watered down, server seemed like we were a nuisance or inconvenience. Lukcily she left and another sever took over. Wouldnt recommend unless you like a view with mass disappointment.

Was excited to return to the Blue Anchor today, but , I left feeling disappointed. I had the Cob Salad. It was $21.50, for that price I expected a nice salad topped with real ham and Turkey, instead it came with shaved deli turkey and shaved ham. So disappointing.

Quit using Covid-19 as an excuse to keep restricted menu which is more like fast food restaurants

The lobster roll was disgusting and cost $30. Everything else was great. The other foods looked good. I will try it again. But stop this lobster roll.

We were only given a food menu and the soft drinks were surprisingly expensive. We loved the place in the past but now their prices to portion ratio is high. We ordered two meals that were served five minutes apart. Hopefully the servers are paid well because my tip was basic. Parking: Plenty.

This place isnt what it used to be. The view is great as is the location. You are paying for the waterfront view. Service was mediocre (I dont expect 5 star here and most a kids returning from school). The food is very expensive and you get very small portions. They used to have perch roll platters on their menu, Im not sure if its because its out of season (it was mid-July) or they dont want to carry it but its a special request. They have next to zero appetizers when it was great going for a few bevvies and some appies, not any more! I get things have changed since COVID but this was a staple. Its pretty disappointing. We wont be going any more and we will go elsewhere instead. Its too bad, it was one of our favourite spots!

I came through town to visit my Mom and take her for lunch. What a great place. Its beautiful on the water with lots to see, and the food and service was amazing. Thank you...I hope to be back again one day soon.

You simply cannot beat the view of the river from the patio. Prices are reasonable and the staff is kind and helpful. There is parking in the grass across from the restaurant.

Great food, the size of the meals was surprising because nowadays is always small portions regardless the price. Not expensive at all for the tasty food great staff and service, and the ambiance au bord de l eau is amazing

Average restaurant in a decent location. No value for money. Food is below average and expensive for what it is. Mostly fired or over buttered/oiled food. If you are going there for the lobster roll... well perhaps just set aside your craving and travel to the coast instead. Wine list inexistant and beer selection average at best ... same as you would find in a basic sports bar. Atmosphere is non existent despite the location setting and view Also too windy to be outside. Just because you are on the water doesnt mean you can just jack up your prices, serve mediocre food and think people will go for it. Wake up and smell the river.

Impromptu drive to Cornwall from Montreal sitting by the water was just what we needed on our Sunday.

Wonderful spot... right on the water. The large deck out back is perfect for dining outdoors in good weather. Plenty of parking. Friendly and efficient service... I was there right at dinner hour on a Friday night, and it was pretty busy. I was seated quickly, order for drinks taken right away, and then the order for food taken within a few minutes of that. The meal was great, and they have a fairly extensive menu so that means that I will be going back for more! Drink, dinner, and coffee for about $30. The key lime pie put me over my budget, but it was excellent! Wheelchair accessibility: Good access

Food was good but the bill!? Wow. 4.50$ & for a can of brisk and then 3.00$ for small plastic dipping container. Its not like a main course is cheap here either. Lastly tip is supposed to be calculated before the tax amount not after. You might want to fix that on your Interact. I wont be back for the ridiculous pricing. 30$ for lunch..

Foods okay, I ordered a pouting and burger which wasnt bad. My Friend had a lobster roll, which wasnt that great ( meat was cold and tasted.freezer burned). Beer was cold, and the views are good. No Perch there that say either.

Beautiful view on the river, relaxing and nice location. The terrace is facing the river. The service was good. All the staff were very nice and helpful. We enjoyed the sun and the view outside. The food was good too. We got some shrimp and fish and chips, with some wine and beer. I will come back again. Thanks for the good service.

Disapointed....1 paper sheet menu, with approx. 12 items and had ran out of two items on a friday night at 6 oclock...theyve reduce plate size and put up the prices quit a bit,, but the fish and chip was good

While on a drive we stopped for lunch. Very busy. We ate inside. Our server Roland was a great guy. The ceasars were excellent. They handed out paper Saturday menus. Mostly fish. We askedbf there was other choices. He said wings. Clubs fries. My mom ordered perch plate. I had cl uband brorher had wings. While waiting we saw french onion soup with salad and nither meals we were not aware of. Why cant they be included. The club was lacking in ingredients. Big chunks chicken. Not sure where bacon and cheese or tomato was. Very mushy Didnt eat all. Fryes great. Momsperch very skimpy. Wings over done.

We had the fish and chips and sushi tuna salad and was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Felt like we were sitting down south beside the ocean. Will definetley be back!!

Very nice place to stop on your motorbike, on the edge of the river, terrace, plenty of parking, very good food, very good service. It was perfect. The only reason I gave 4 stars; when you ask for mayonnaise to eat with your fries and they charge you an extra $0.50 to get some, especially since your hamburger and fries cost $20, thats a bit far-fetched!

Hate to have to do this because I am a fan of the place and have been there numerous times. Was hoping to go there for my birthday on Friday. I called to ask if they take reservations. The gentleman who answered said no, walk-in only. I attempted to ask when they were normally busiest but was interrupted before I could finish and the gentleman just said very busy right now sir, walk-in only and hung up on me. Not exactly welcoming. Will go somewhere else where they want my business.

Asked for a drink menu the waitress said she didnt have one. We asked the price of a pitcher of sangria, waitress told us A pitcher of red is $24. Went to pay and our bill came to $29 before tax. Amazing location looking over the river with a beautiful view. Terrace is lovely. We had small fish & chips and shrimp Caesar salad, both were fresh and tasty. The only downside is when the cars and motorbikes parking around the deck start their engines.

We have been here so many times, for the view and food. Great quality food. We always try something different. Parking across the street is available too. Sometimes we sit enjoying the view while waiting for a seat on the waiting list, but it s worth it. Try not to go too hungry because you might have to wait to get in.

Beautiful site, the terrace on the waters edge is really good. Disappointed with my meal, ordered a steak and peperonni wrap When I received it there was 3/4 salad inside, 3 thin slices of steak and no pepperoni. Fries were hot on the other hand but the portion was not very generous. Mega fast service, nice place to have a beer.

There was a wait for patio seating but it was a Saturday so we opted to sit inside.

_The Run Down_ Small Portions Increased Prices Desert nor drink included in kids menu 7 and 10 year olds left hungry _Detailed_ Prices were shaded, menu only had adult meals and nothing else, we werent told about beverage prices, that Kids menu includes nothing, or the extra charges for side swaps. My family has been going there for many years. Over the last few years prices have increased and the portions have drastically decreased. We are 3 Adults and 3 Kids, the 7 and 10 year old left hungry and all us 3 adults were still hungry. Canned drinks were 3.5$ each. Kids menu was 8.5$ and didnt include drink or desert. The same Kids menu that couldnt satisfy our 7 year old with a small appetite. I personally got the Brisket Poutine that is 16.5$ (cheapest item on the menu) and I wasnt even close to satisfied. The 2 other adults got the large fish and chip, which is much smaller and more expensive than it used to be, they also left hungry. The only reason I am rating 2 star and not 1 is because the waitresses are very kind and the food quality is good. We will not be returning as it is no longer even close to worth going to. Too expensive and too small of meals.

Went for a family dinner Saturday Aug 20th 2022. Was gorgeous night for sitting at the patio. Is the blue anchor under new ownership? I ask because we noticed a big difference in the portions, they seemed to be reduced significantly! We ve been going to Blue Anchor since 2008, haven t been since Covid started. We all left hungry, including my 7year old daughter, who eats like a bird, she finished her kids poutine in no time and was picking the fries from my wife s plate. Disappointed that the kids meal doesn t include a drink and dessert, like every other restaurant. A can of pop costs $3.50 / $4.25 ice tea. Absolutely ridiculous gouging. My 9yr old son ordered chicken fingers should be called chicken slivers He asked to substitute Caesar salad instead of fries, that was an extra $3.50 My 19 year old son ordered the beef brisket poutine. It came in such a small bowl that I can only describe it as a side dish My wife and I ordered the large fish and chips. I remember the fish being quite bigger and meatier. I found an image of the fish and chips from 2016 on their Facebook, I d say they reduced the portion to almost 1/2. Less meat more breading. I understand due to inflation, menu prices have gone up, but with the portions reduced. It just makes it that much harder to want to bring the family out for a nice meal, only the leave hangry. Sorry Blue Anchor but we had better fish and chips at Schnitzel s. Definitely won t be back.

This is an amazing place to eat when it is not too cold outside. Food is great and their fish and chips to die for!
