We stopped there on the way to Kingston, a bit by chance. It doesnt look like much, but we ate well. An excellent fish and chips with haddock, light and crispy breading. The fries may not be as good. A good glass of white wine at the same time and that s it! Thank you

This was actually Cowans Dairy and Ice Cream, and I bought a cone and also tub of 3 Ice Cream Cookies. Also got 4 chocolate covered ice cream on a stick, something like a Dilly Bar from DQ

Place was dirty, fruit flies in bathroom and dining room, ordered the Admiral plate, they had no clams so gave more shrimp. Scallops were very small. Never go back

I was hoping for better. Captain George serves fish and chips. You can order a platter that includes some frozen scallops and clams alongside the fish and chips, but thats pretty much it. The food was average, cooked in oil that was just past its best. It was obvious that the cook would rather be doing something other than preparing food for others. We ordered around 13:30 and we were the only ones in the restaurant. There were no delivery or pick-up orders during our time. The staff were not busy but managed to get our order wrong. They made everything right, but I was surprised that a simple order went wrong. We wont return.

Best fish and chips Ive ever had and a great price. Friendly staff and a neat and clean restaurant. Ive tried fish and chips from the east coast to the west coast of Canada and Captain George in Cornwall is #1 for me.

Just got thier family meal of 5 pieces of fish and fries and coleslaw for Good Friday. It unfortunately was not worth it. This meal is usually 50.00 plus tax. They upped it to 70.00 plus tax for the holiday. There was no way it was worth 50.00, nevermind 70.00 plus tax. A couple of the pieces were almost as much batter as fish. There was enough coleslaw for only one person. There wasnt even lemon included. Had my husband realized how little we were getting when he picked it up (not even delivered) he would not have taken it.

The fish is decently good but Ive had better breading elsewhere. Server was very pleasant and it wasnt crowded so everything was quick.

Fantastic fishnchips! I had the haddock - my second time at Captain Georges and it is definitely my favorite! I ride in from Montreal just for that .... its worth it! Service is amazing - quick and efficient. What can I say about my server Kaylie ??? Smiling, pleasant, always seem happy to be there - great, GREAT service from her. Thank you! The only down fall is there crooks with there tartar sauce charging a $1 per cup and hardly give you any Id sneak a squeeze bottle of tartar sauce in ur purse..cause any other fish and chip place dont do this other then that the food is amazing all around

Decent fried food selection. Quite often out of certain fish. Not much atmosphere, but if you have a hankering for fried seafood, satisfy it here.

Visited Captain Georges today, Excellent service, with Excellent Fish and chips. The best fish and chips we have eaten in the 10 years we have been in Canada, Highly recommended.

Ive ordered the captain platter. The fries had a bitter taste and they seemed to be from the previous day. I didnt like my experience with them.

4 pc halibut meal $44....disgusting for what we got. Pieces are too thin to be halibut and are half the size of Joeys. They wont be getting our business again!

I had the cod and my wife had the halibut. They were both delicious and delicately cooked with excellent batter. The fries were perfect and the coleslaw was delicious.

Love their all you can eat fish on Tuesdays.

First time stopping in for a late lunch. Started with the clam chowder soup!! Yummy ! As my main, I ordered the haddock and chips!!!! It was so light and flaky!!! Amazing!! Service was awesome!! Already planning to come again next weekend!!

We ordered captains platter and clam chowder. The food was amazing, we made another shrimp order because it was so good even though we were very full. The Halibut and shrimp tasted very fresh and the coatings on both were very crispy. Definitely will come back if were ever in the area!

Old fashioned looking mariners joint. Minus the singing Mariners ;) fish and chips good, cod is firm and tasty. The sides were disappointing and the other items not that great so stick with the f&c. Good batter.

Had frozen taste and not a crispy coating

Weve ordered out from here at least a dozen times without any issues. Today we ordered again, same thing we always get. An hour later still no food so we called and asked. So they told us a story that theyve been getting prank order calls where nobody actually answers or pays for the food so they claimed they tried calling us to confirm, which they actually never did call us to confirm. Then they back tracked and told us the person whos been prank ordering them has the same name as us so they never made and shipped our order, without even telling us. What HORRIBLE service and an even worse business practice. Shame on them and I will NEVER order from such a Mickey mouse operation again. I hope the owner sees this and if he has any care in the world about his LOYAL customers who have spent a lot of money there , hell do the right thing and make sure this doesnt happen to another loyal customer that they will lose.

Great fish with a light and crispy batter. Fries are good but nothing special.

We had the shrimp plate, commander ( mixed fish/seafood) and halibut, everything was very good. It was a Saturday and it was all you can eat shrimp, great deal. They have specials every night. The batter on the fish was crisp and no too heavy, just perfect. The prices are competitive, great for the quality of food you get.

Had a late lunch with my mom today and we found this hidden gem! So glad we found it! Superb food (fresh seafood and AMAZING clam chowder!) and wonderful staff! Thank you for our delicious meal!

I have to say that my husband and I ordered for the first time there July 2 and it was by far the best Halibut and fries we have ever eaten. Definitely will recommend to friends and family, and will be ordering from Captain Georges again

Just had a wonderful anniversary dinner from Captain George. Delivery was a bit late but the food was excellent as usual.

Probably the best fish and chips outside of Atlantic Canada, and would be near the top even if it were located on the east coast. Light, non greasy, and not too crispy (overdone) batter. Fish(we had cod) seemed very fresh and the fries, though slightly overdone, were fresh cut and tasty. The waitress we had was friendly and went out of her way to make allowances for my son who doesnt like fish or chips! Will definitely be going back.

Delicious fish! The halibut was nice and lightly battered, exactly as I remember it from a trip to the UK. I wish I lived closer because I would be ordering from this place regularly.

Was very impressed by the service, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere. Our food arrived promptly, even though there were many customers in the restaurant. Most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious and not overpriced. Ill definitely be back again with my family.

My first time trying this place on a take-out order was I ever impressed on the taste of the battered fish an the golden french fries an the tarter sauce .I would definitely be trying this again an would recommend it to anyone who enjoys fish an chips.

I ve had fish all over the world, fish n chips being a favourite. This restaurant is a typical diner style. It has decent haddock, cod, halibut fillets with a medium to light weight batter. Fresh cut fries are good. Having said that, the meals are way over priced. I ve been to other comparable places in Ontario and I ve never paid almost $30 for 2 pieces of fish n chips and a drink plus tax. (3 pieces, maybe I would). Too bad, it was decent quality for this level of restaurant. I won t go again because of the cost.

The food here was absolutely delicious.

Excellent food! But let down severely by the lack of cleanliness. The place is filthy and the employees were standing around chatting instead of cleaning. There is a thick layer of dust and dirt and dead flies on the window ledges, the bathroom smells dank and the floors look like they have never been mopped. The sinks were dirty and there was no extractor fan making the damp smell unbearable. The blinds were permanently down which made the place look closed and unwelcoming, but I suspect that was to hide the extreme dirtiness of the window panes themselves. There is a leak from the ceiling that was left to accumulate on a table and bench (and the employees just walk by the water puddle, ignoring it) and there are several ceiling tiles that are stained and wet with water. The vents themselves were dripping wet. We were very unsatisfied with the place and almost left when we looked around but we were pressed for time. There were also live flies that kept bothering us throughout the meal which was unpleasant. Again, the employees were not concerned. I feel like if the cleanliness was improved, I would have given it 5 stars because the food was good and the location has good bones. It really is a shame!
