Mexi's Cornwall - Best Mexican Restaurant in Cornwall

What an amazing place, the food was fantastic. We had been meaning to try this restaurant for months and only had the time today to go. If you like Tex-Mex you re going to love this place. The service was amazing, food portions were perfect. Highly recommend this restaurant and I plan on going back weekly!!

Richal was a wonderful host. He explained the options in detail and how it was prepared. The food was fresh, hot and exceptionally flavourable a nice change . Rachal informed of free parking for the restaurant and invited us back. We just might have to take him up on his offer and try the fabulous fajitas next time. Thanks Richal for providing fantastic service!! Wheelchair accessibility: Accessibility for mobility impaired was a challenge needs upgrading/renovations. Looks like what it did in the 80 s but still clean and comfortable booths and chair and tables too many steps

Juliann V. was an absolute superstar! She was the only server working and there were at least 10 tables when I was there. She was so polite and efficient and kept a smile on her face while she was clearly overwhelmed and in an unreasonable situation. She even offered us more chips and salsa and put lemons on our water glasses she never once lowered her standards. She alone was responsible for all the tables, take out meals, the bar, phone etc. ! She is absolute gold and I truly hope her manager and the owner of Mexi s know how lucky they are to have her. Someone else may have crumbled under the pressure or simply quit and walked out the door which she had every right to do! Nobody should have to run their a$$ off like she did! Take note of this gem!

I haven t been here since the summer and I decided to take my daughter out for birthday lunch. I usually always enjoy mexis wherever I go but this was horrible. Watered down margaritas, chicken kind of grisly when he asked (I m assuming the owner) how it was , I let him know the chicken was grisly he said they don t cook it dry (whatever that means) because it cooks by them leaving it there and it steams ? it was gross I barely ate that. Cook your chicken properly. I don t care what you do but you make sure it s cooked in an edible state or don t own a restaurant. Chips were stale, music was shut off, and the vegetables tasted like they had been sitting in the fridge for a few days my daughters fries tasted old and crispy , everything was stale I m not sure why as food should never be sitting around and at lunch when it s not busy , this made me very curious about their food handling. The lime on the margaritas were brown and dried out. I have never ever seen this at a Mexis. I m sensing new owners ?? Let me tell you if this is how you handle customer complaints and I left a tip even though service wasn t that good your business will be down the toilet before Christmas..Good luck! Ughh just not impressed

Terrible food experience! We ordered two appetizers: One fresh guacamole, and a queso dip. When we received the guacamole, it was fully oxidized. We kindly asked the server to please bring a fresh guacamole as it was not safe nor appetizing to consume. The server came a few minutes after with the same guacamole but slightly stirred up. We once again returned it, and the server - excusing the cook - advised that it was made in the morning, and the cook was unwilling to make a fresh one. We then got the queso dip which had no trace of any kind of cheese whatsoever; we sent that item back as well. For entrees we ordered the Mexis burger and steak fajitas. The burger was overcooked and dry, and the fajitas (which I ask for medium rare) were overcooked as well. The server was very kind, as helpful as they could (it was not her fault after all) so her service was the only positive and outstanding experience of the night; however, the cook wasnt interested in addressing the issues. I will certainly not return to this restaurant, nor I would recommend it to anybody.

At 108$ Im still wondering where the food went ! I have never ever seen such an awful, small, overcooked double portion of fajitas( if you could even call it a double!) Stale wraps, stale chips, clumpy con queso sauce and soggy salad . Every single item we ordered was awful, no seasoning, medium steak fir the fajitas were well done, and I wish I was kidding when I say I literally had a quarter of a chicken breast in my double fajitas. First time going, never going back. All the fixings were tossed together in 2 containers, and looked like someone shook them before putting them in the bag. Drove 45 minutes to be let down. Unbelievable. Do not go here and waste your money. You make better Mexican food using old el Paso at home.

I always love going here when I was younger. I went with my mom and my aunt and was not impressed . My mom could not have anything on the menu, except french fries, as she can no eat onions! We found out that all the food is pre-made What about people with allergies! I ordered a large nancho plate there was only 1 layer of chips! They were the worse nacho plate that I ever had! The alcoholic drinks were also watered down Do not waste your money! Will never go there again! Don t waste your money! Replying to you on what planet does a $24 nacho plate come with only one layer of chips/cheese. We chose the restaurant for Mexican food! Not to have a chicken salad or hamburger, which can be gotten at any restaurant.. My mom wanted a beef burrito, has been talking about it all week They got the second pitcher of what was supposed to be sangria, because they needed to wash down the horrible food that they ate You should be posting that you are sorry that we did not enjoy our visit to your restaurant.. Once again don t waste your money there

No beans in the vegetable chili as per menu. Tacos werent authentic Mexican food. When I asked for sauce for my Tacos, they gave me Tabasco. Meat chili was super tough and chewy, and there was nothing in it but meat. Will never return. Waitress was nice. Food disgusting.

Margaritas came with fruit flies in them and draft beer came rotten smelling. They didnt argue at all and switched us out for bottled beers.didnt make us feel bad about it. But I would be weary of mixed drinks there. Food however was delicious. It was actually really good.

This was the worst meal i have had in a long time. The rice was like eating tomato paste. When i complained nothing was done. I was charged more for items than the menu stated. I was charged for pepsi refills at a crazy price of $4 a glass without being told there was a charge. Again i questioned why i was not told about the extra fee, i was just handed a debit to pay up! Save your money choose one of the other fabulous restaurants in downtown cornwall

The waitress was overwhelmed the entire evening. She was polite and quick but was alone all evening. We counted 12 tables and she was a one woman show. There was a mistake on one meal and it took approximately 40 minutes for the replacement so Im guessing the kitchen was short staffed too.

Have had a shirt order sitting since 2009 the manager made that was never paid for so seen they dont pay there bills is reason for negative review

We were in Cornwall from out of province staying across street from Mexi s - placed a simple pick up order - no beef on the taco salad , also no side of rice included - note to us & any one ordering not to dine in - open their stapled bags & check your order

I usually don t review but this place is baaaaad. Like the worst Mexican I ve ever had in my 30 years. I know that as a Mexican American I have higher standards. I couldn t eat more than 3 bites of my food though. The textures were all wrong and the beans and rice tasted like salty, chunky, enchilada sauce. Beans and rice should never come out in spherical scoops. Also I found maybe two small pieces of chicken in my burrito. It was mostly rice and beans. Honestly I would have been much happier with Taco Bell.

Disappointed with this visit. Table was dirty and my drink was in a dirty glass. Food was good. Take the time to clean tables and you should notice a glass is dirty before you fill it. The food was good. Unfortunately our server, although friendly definitely could use more training. We asked several questions and she knew none of the answers. As a server, you should be familiar with the menu items. Some of our drinks werent correct but they were fixed. The staff were accomodating. Atmosphere was nice. Will we go back?? Probably not.

Mexis was as good as it gets ! They have everything... atmosphere, excellent food and even Mexican music which sets the mood for your meal ! Kid-friendliness: They have a board that the kids can colour a mask and it can be hung up on their way out !

Rating restaurants is always difficult due to the potential for so many things to go wrong. Mexicali Rosas on Pitt St. is one of the easier ones to do, however. Staff are friendly and attentive for the most part, but as usual, it depends on your server. Salt and pepper on the table is hit-and-miss for some reason. It would be nice if extra napkins were provided without asking, especially with the hand food like tacos. The food is always good, fresh, and served quickly, at the correct temperature. It is the one constant when visiting, and that is what counts most in my book. The atmosphere is nice, no overly loud music from the speakers, and the artwork is reminiscent of dining in Cancun (a tad gaudy), dated and tourist-oriented. Bathrooms are very clean, although one must navigate a long set of stairs into the basement to get there. Be careful with them if you have had too many drinks, especially in heels!...

We went for a birthday party, and it was a great time. Food came out in reasonable fashion all at the same time. Drinks were always full. And we all got to color masks, even the adults. Dietary restrictions: I mentioned I do not like cilantro at all, and the waitress put the salsa off to the side in case someone else would want it.

A restaurant that is usually great, was mediocre tonight. They seem disorganized. The floors around our table was messy and just didn t seem clean. It s like they don t sweep here. My seat was wet and the menu was sticky. My fries came COLD and there was no salt on our table, only pepper. The menu didn t list that an item had tomatoes on it, and it definitely wasn t a burrito. The waiter wasn t as interested in us as they normally were, and it was a longer wait time. Despite this visit, we ll still be coming back. The food was alright but I like the atmosphere. The complimentary nachos are always my favourite. Not good when busy! Vegetarian options: There are many vegetarian options. As a vegetarian, I usually get seasoned fries as a side. There are veggie nachos options as well. I tried the street corn today and it was pretty good.

Never disappointed!

So I m guessing all the reviews for this place are not real, or the people of Cornwall do not have taste buds. Decided to give Mexi s another try for the 4th time and has been completely not edible. I ordered the veggie fajitas. Paid $40 to be served completely raw and unseasoned vegetables. Good to know you guys don t even season your food. This was an absolute joke. I honestly have no idea how you guys are in business. You guys are the only place I know of that does not put any seasoning on their food. Also they cannot say this is unusual because this is how it has came 4 times with none of the veggies cooked and no seasoning. Guess this is how the cook thinks Mexican food should be

I love eating Mexican food but this restaurants was Very disappointing. ordered tacos that were bland. Rice was mushy and didnt taste fresh. Beans were served almost room temperature and again didnt taste fresh. Ive had better at Taco Bell! All this for $27!

Enjoyed Mexis for dinner as a family. Definitely great vibes, inclusive menu (picky eater friendly ) , good music and super friendly staff. Had a great time and a great meal. Kid-friendliness: Super inviting environment, kids menu is perfect, colouring page and crayons provided. My kids loved it.

We arrived 8:40pm when their hours posted said they were open till 9pm. Their open sign was clearly on with no staff in sight. We jiggled the door handle and even knocked several times. No answer. How disappointing. If you re not gonna be open until 9 change your hours. Last I checked your business should be open until 9. Slackers. Lost out on a $200 tip. I m a famous YouTuber who loves tipping my servers money (like an upcoming mr beast) I will be going to Kelsey s instead. Much more deserved clearly and they are open till 10 (take notes) As I can t reply to your reply I will state that we were there at 8:40. We all did jiggle the handle and try several times to come inside but no response. There was no customers inside and only one staff member who didn t acknowledge us. I even knocked a few times to try and get the servers attention. I feel like if you re kitchen shuts down at 8:45 that should maybe be stated somewhere because most business will serve any customer who walks in until closing time with no issue. We were just hoping the situation could be resolved seeing as we missed out on dinner at our favorite place due to this inconvenience. Thank you.

You can enjoy absolutely authentic Mexican cuisine here. The portions are large, so the prices are also reasonable. Mexican Flagg and a Corona on tap are recommended. Great ambience, appropriate music and the service is also on point. Absolutely clear recommendation!

We started off by visiting at the Cornwall Mexi s location and enjoyed a delicious supper served by a terrific staff. Then, we ordered to have a wedding event catered by Mexi s. They delivered on-time with a variety of hot & delicious food that made our fiesta fantastic! They had all the sides and condiments on the side to make sure nothing was soggy. It was Perfect! I would recommend them for catering as well as visiting the restaurant!

On our way back from US road trip, we were craving for some authentic Mexican food. We picked Mexis based on past reviews and food pictures. Service was great (5/5). Ordered Vegetarian Burrito (rice and bean on side) and Taco Salad (Veg). Both tasted very bland for Authentic mexican food standards. Burrito, Rice and Beans - all three tasted same - kind of canned tomato flavour. Taco bowl/shell was crunchy but the Salad again tasted very basic and very minimal flavouring. This was our first visit to any restaurant of Mexis chain and had high hopes (may-be!).

Wow! Mckena and Steph were amazing. After having a lack luster night at a different venue, these ladies made our night. I went in asking for a personal experience, chefs choice. I wanted a shareable for me and my honey with wine and liquor. We were celebrating a very special event and without knowing, they transformed our night. At the end of the night, we shared chocolate drizzled cheese cake... My favorite. This place is a game changer to other businesses that promise fine dining. This is true for the sheer fact that fine dining is nothing without a passionate staff that leads the menu with pride and, the people, with compassion. Thank you

Elote - for price, not worth it for the taste and flavour. Corn flavour, spices and sauces used could be improved for the price we paid, and for only two cobs of corn that were dry and not that tasy, meh. Cool presentation though but wish the cheese pieces were smaller. Suggest offering this cup-style and fill up the cup+mix for less mess, more flavour mix itself for that price. Save your appetite for the Chicken Fajitas! Fantastic taste, perfectly crisped vegetables ( LOTS) and delicious for the price paid. Rice and beans delicious. Good Guac and Salsa. Corn Tortillas adequate ratio to eat with your meal, and pretty sure we could get more if needed. Hidden gem is the freshly made Salsa Verde (Green Sauce, per the waitress)- perfect level of spice, but maybe the typical customers dont appreciate it as much as I did! Great spot for a meal! We had an awesome server who took wonderful care of our party! Lots of menu choices, gluten free, spicy. Something for everyone! Oh and the best non alcoholic Pina coladas!!

NEVER book the party room at this restaurant! I booked it months in advance for a wedding reception for 30 people. I called multiple times to go over the seating placement and room details. Having an extra table to display our cake on. When we showed up to the restaurant, they had two full length tables filled with a hockey tournament team in our room. That left us only 3 tables for my guests and they were crammed so tightly together that we could barely move our chairs. There was no place available for my cake so it had to be stored in their kitchen. I asked the server why there were other people seated in the room I booked and she only said that they were very busy that night. I asked to speak with the manager and she stated he d be over in a few minutes. Well he never came by and when I inquired again I was told that he left for the night. The next day I spoke with the owner of the restaurant. He kept trying to say that they didn t know it was booked for a wedding reception and that I should have informed them. When I tried to explain that I did and had contacted them several times, he kept cutting me off and wouldn t let me speak. When I asked him to please let me finish speaking he hung up on me! Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We will never go back. I strongly recommend to never book the party room.
