I found this place very clicky not something that I m used to in the Comox Valley. I didn t get the warm feeling as a place that I believed my whole life. I find mud sharks is a place that I would not recommend to anyone. Matter fact the food was terrible the atmosphere I couldn t stand. I think they should leave the Comox Valley. Kid-friendliness: They are not kid friendly. They re not family friendly. I would not take my family here and I would tell everybody not to.

Love this cafe it s always my go to spot for coffee in town and it is always so consistently good here, not just the coffee but the service as well. All the food I get is always really good here too and the employees are super nice too and know how to make a good cup of coffee,, I was a barista for 6 years so I am a little bit snobby when it comes to that haha keep doin what ur doin mudsharks ;D

So grateful I came across this on my travels! I got the Avocado wrap and Ice Chai Latte and coffee! Great service and the food was amazing and fresh! Dog friendly patio.

We went here several times when we were visiting from out of town the food and atmosphere was so good. We loved the vegan options and the food was really tasty and fresh. The staff were friendly and we would definitely come back again next time we are in town.

I cant say anything about the food. Drink selection of kambocha is wonderful. Nice selection of coffee drinks. Re reviewing as they improved since the old location. I like the local merchandise incorporated into the decor. I like how they are supporting local vendors.

The cappuccino was lovely which was surprising as I normally don t like parallel 49 coffee. The girl at the front counter was very sweet and smiled when I went in. The food menu looked great with lots of variety. It is not my vibe for atmosphere. A whole bunch of small tables lined up in a row. It s a challenging space as it s long and narrow. Not sure what else they could do except provide big, long tables to share. I sat outside as I didn t like the crowded, close feeling, but the cement and smell was not enjoyable. I m a person who loves being in beauty so style is really important to me, but I don t think it is for most people. And I m just passing through!

Theres a great book called SHARKS! here which Im just realizing was probably a branding choice. The bagel sandwich reminded me of romantic long walks on the beach, while the seating arrangements were a bit strange but great if you wanted to walk by people to quickly shake all of their hands. I love this place.

Overpriced. Food took so long that I thought someone else must have taken mine. Tip prompt on debit machine suggests 10-20% tips despite no table service. My Earl Grey tea didnt taste like any Earl Grey Ive ever had, it was weird and not good. The dispenser for the sweetener didnt work so I had to disassemble it to get any. The breakfast bagels tasted ok at least.

Super cool cafe, lovely patio out front with unique table and benches. We shared a glory bowl and bagel with vegan cream cheese and both were delicious. The bagel was hot, clearly fresh out of the toaster and immediately served, which I appreciated. The staff was friendly and feed delicious, looking forward to visiting again in the future.

We stop here whenever we visit our daughter in Courtenay. Love the avocado toast and the Muddy Mushroom Latte.

Love the vibe of the shop but was less than amused by how small the almost $9 ham and cheese croissant is. A tad smaller than grocery store bakery croissants which are usually $5/dozen. Dont get me wrong, thr flavour was spot on and drink options wwre plentiful for a fair price. I was just expecting for $9 the size to match the chicken salad croissant they had on display near checkout.

Yum. Glory bowl is all I can say as it s all I ve had. But YUM it s good ! You can get the smaller version for about $10 or the larger for $15. I found the smaller to be plenty. Dietary restrictions: The glory bowl is vegan or veg. Parking: Near Library on 6th, plenty of free parking. And free on the street too.

We were excited to try this place based on reviews. But the coffee was very weak and the breaky sandies were tasteless. Nice atmosphere and they seemed busy so maybe we just ran into some bad luck.

At first I was in love with this place, sooo many gluten free vegan options, but they got my order wrong and I asked them to fixed it, then they got my partners wrong as well, and I didnt bother to ask them because the attitude I got back from the ladies at the counter was really disappointing, I even tried to say have a good day and got not even an acknowledgement back... Not usual for me as I love coffee shops and foodie places. I came in with a great attitude and was just met with grumpy faces.. Hopefully this was an off day. Cause this place seems pretty cool Went back in this morning as its one of the only places for gluten and dairy free and was completely the opposite experience felt the need to edit the experience as I hate leaving bad reviews

Trying to find a place that has good coffee, food and atmosphere to study in is difficult! I was clearly set up comfortablly your patio to start writing my paper after ordering a drink and glory bowl to stay, but was asked to move from my seat by daycare workers. Disappointed because I couldnt enjoy my food or drink on the patio, let alone start studying, not sure if I will be back.

I love Mudsharks so much. Their bowls and coffee are really good and I feel like they really have figured out how to run a good cafe here in the valley. The cafe is both a healthy social space for those meeting up with others for coffee or food, but they also have supported space for those of us who work from home. Sometimes it can be really isolating and hard to focus, and I get nervous trying new cafes because sometimes they dont allow laptops (even if it isnt busy). I appreciate Mudsharks for allowing space for us to work here there are a lot of us who really appreciate it.

Edited 24 Dec - Worst breafast sandwich ever. Scone undercooked. Coffee was good, otherwise rating would have been 1 star for food. Aked server to speak to owner, who initially did not come out and insisted on giving a refund through the server. After i persisted the owner did come out and he was very polite and appologetic and offered a full refund. I told him i didnt want one, just to do better job at preparing the food - a soggy mircrowaved bun undercooked bacon and rubbery eggs should not be labelled as a grilled sandwich. Asked him if he could grill the bun instead of reheating in the microwave and fully cook the bacon also asked why the eggs were so rubbery. He stated he would try to do better. I accepted a coffee coupon but probably wont use it. Note: When Iinitially wrote this I was very dissapointed and upset about the food. Wanted to give a more clear picture of the event to be fair to the owner. Also i looked at some other reviews and they do mimic what im saying here. Parking: difficult to find parking busy street.

Ordered take out from skip the dishes last night I ordered the greatful bowl and Dahl soup. The food was cold. The soup was half empty and not the right size very small portion for the cost. It also said it came with pita chips it did not. The bowl I ordered, I ordered with glory sauce did not get the sauce. I couldnt even eat the bowl it had peanuts in it witch I am highly allergic to. The picture of the bowl had cucumbers in it and was loaded with veggies. It did not look anything like the photo. It didnt say what the ingredients were in the description just a photo. Dietary restrictions: Should really say what the ingredients are in this specific bowl. (Peanuts)

Healthy food

My Chai latte was not very hot and taste quite weak. This is the second time I wasnt super stoked about the product I received but I do love the atmosphere.

Went with my mom a few weeks ago and loved the carrot lox bagel. Food was super yummy, and prices were very reasonable. Tried to come by again today around 12:30 to have brunch with my partner, but no tables to be found. It was somewhat frustrating to see over half the space taken up by folks working on their laptops while we couldn t find anywhere to sit and eat. We ended up just leaving. With that said, I do appreciate having cafés that welcome students and people who like to work in that setting. I would just suggest posting a notice asking those working to limit their stay during busy hours.

A nice wonderful Coffee bar with excellent good tasting food and hard working loyal caring staff featuring the 1 and only Geneva. I always stop there a couple times a week and I always have a Chocolatte Chip Cookie and Vegan Bliss Ball which are both extremely dellicious. I always enjoy my experiences at Mudsharks and I am always happy to go there. Hey everybody peace out and have a nice day. Cheers.

Meh. Expensive. Small London fog. 4.75 in a cup made for a toddler. Smallest cup Ive ever seen. Imagine a large thimble. Pretty ridiculous. Nice atmosphere.

I really enjoy going to mudsharks, they have lots of yummy options for everyone gluten free/dairy free/vegan etc. The atmosphere is also enjoyable. I would just suggest they get a change table for the bathroom, as well as a stool for kids to wash there hands and work on fixing the elevator, however I realize the elevator issue may be the landlords responsibility, I am not sure. I saw a man when I was there one day who was not able to access the Cafe because he was in a wheelchair, he was rightly frustrated.

I hadnt been to Mudsharks since it was in their old location beside Gladstones because I had so many negative experiences there involving one of the male servers. I had heard through the grapevine that this person was recently let go so I decided to finally go back after hearing this news. WOW, not only is the atmosphere exponentially more inviting and happier, the food also tastes better if you can believe it!! What an improvement!

Second time & still as delicious. The Chai Tea Latte is fresh, tasty & perfect, not like a lot of coffee bars where they seem to make them far too sickly. This time we shared a muffin & the pumpkin cheesecake, can probably say the freshest tasting muffin we have ever eaten & cheesecake was so tasty. Staff are very friendly & helpful, place is clean. As a senior the only thing we found was sound echos slightly so when a lot of people in there, difficult to hear each other talk but could have sat outside because it was a Sunny day. For the quality of drinks & food, definitely value for money & popular which is always a good sign.

The staff is fantastic, such sweethearts. And the environment is really peaceful ... Ate here before their relocation and the food was good and the drinks great! .... but, this time around the food was just so-so The avocado wrap- we literally thought it came with no avocado, thats how little avocado was put into the recipe. The chilli was very watery this time... And there was bacon mixed into the breakfast bowl, when we had requested for it to be on side. The indoor mugs for the small size are not 8 oz mugs either... So order your drink in to go cups I prefer a drink menu that is 12-16-20 whereas its a 8-12-16 here. Just little things.. but at a pretty price tag, little things end up being important.

High quality healthy & diverse food! As two European hikers exploring Vancouver Island Mudshark was the ideal place to staunch our craving for some high quality food especially veg & fiber (after having lived off camping food for days ). Can definitely recommend the Glory Bowls, delicious coffee & fast WiFi.

Had an iced coffee that was great as was the date square. Staff were very good at their job. Outdoor seating was great on a hot day. Paying with a card on their fancy machine was a snap BUT it gets a bit tiring when the machine insinuates a tip is appropriate. (Yes everyone is doing it but I am tired of tipping for everything.)

Glory Bowl, Grateful Bowl, Brekkie stuff, Hummus Wrap, Avocado Wrap and much more, are delish & healthy, made in house. Scones are to die for (Savory is our fave wow) & also made in house! WoW We eat here (take out & dine in) 2x/ week, we love it. Coffees, Lattes etc are Perfect. Staff is awesome too, super service! Terrific vibes at this gem! What a great place for delicious food. As a Vegan it can be a challenge to find a place that works out but Mudsharks has quite a few options on the main menu as well as in the treats. Both my Mom and I were blown away at how amazing the food was on the fronts of the main meal and dessert. Also the staff were absolutely fantastic at making sure we got the info needed to make the Vegan meal amazing. Bravo!! We ll be back again for sure the next time we get out to Courtenay.

Nice atmosphere and appears well visited and liked by customers. Food on my order had plenty to be desired for my taste (for your taste it may be fine): the savory scone is not baked properly, it was almost uncooked in the middle. The amount of black pepper is so much it is actually spicy and if that is the idea it should be advertised as such to help people who cannot handle spicy meals. The Avocado toast on a ciabata bun is actually not even the entire bun and aside of the little salad on the side and the sauce, the sandwich has nothing else on it. I may come again for coffee or other drink only.

My go-to for coffee in the valley. They also have excellent food and baked goods. Open well before the other coffee shops and well after the others close. Highly recommend!

Muddy sharks! Nobody like Mud sharks Coffee Bar puts mud in your eye and a sproing in your flipper so you can Swim with the sharks.

Tomato? Spinach? Cajun spice? Tough ciabatta, soggy bacon and no flavour. I think this is taking food cost too far, especially with raised prices.

Ok, I purposely went there because of reviews and people talking about Glory Bowl ! Yup, I wasnt disappointed,very tasty, the sauce is wonderful..coffee was great so was the morning glory gluten-free muffin.

It was ok no real customer interaction though. Just tried it again service was a bit better but product was not. Not going back for a 3rd time.

I absolutely felt the need to mention that Mudsharks Is Hands down the best coffee Bar/cafe I have been too, not only is the quality of their food/beverages above and beyond what i have had from previous places but their entire staff are always friendly and always a pleasure to deal with. I am a brand loyalty based person and will hands down be making this my go to spot. I recommend you do the same, I cant rave enough about the staff from the ladies behind the counter for their Positive demeanour and efficiency in order fulfilment. To the gentlemen in the kitchen always having my orders out in minutes with zero effect on the quality and always served with a smile. A Big Thank You To Team Mudsharks.

Great little shop with gluten free and vegan treats to enjoy, delicious coffee, coffee products to buy, and a cute eclectic and beachy environment. Would recommend, and would go back again! It s in a nice area of town to walk down to some shops with your coffee too, and there is some good, covered outdoor seating.

The best place up island for pretty much anything. THE DAHL IS SO GOOD ILL DRIVE ALL THE WAY FROM VIC TO HAVE SOME. super friendly staff, very lovely patio. Such a treat!

This place has taken a serious nose dive in the last 6 months. Prices, customer service and food quality. I ve been coming to this place on and off for years. But in the last six months to a year this place has crashed and burned. Recently I went for coffee and food and the food looked like it was microwaved from yesterday. $8+ for americano misto. Enough said.

Maybe a good thing we got kicked out of Cappuccino Grande. Down the street is Mudsharks. Large menu of food and drinks, case stuffed with bakery items. Breakfast bowls looked interesting. First time ordering an Americano but, my friend says its good. Large outdoor patio shared with another restaurant. Staff is polite. Id definitely come here again but, moving on north tomorrow. Ignore the owner of Cappuccino Grande, Comox/Courtenay is great. Everyone in this town is polite.

Our order was sitting getting cold for 10 minutes before the server clued in that we were waiting for it. Paid $13 for a tiny bowl of cold rice with a spoonful of chilli.

The best breakfast we ve had in a cafe for ages. Highly recommend this place. Awesome menu selection & a really cool vibe. We will definitely be back.

This place gives Vegan cuisine a bad name. We are eating plant based for years and $44 should buy you more than a bow of rice calling themselves a Mexican bowl and a bowl of spinach calling themselves something else ambitious. No variety, no spices, no flavour. What a joke, avoid them at all cost!

Third time I have had the glory bowl.Very disappointed in this one.Previous times I had plenty of rice and yams.This time I got enough rice for a two year old and same amount of yams.I really wanted it to be better than this very disappointing when I finally go out for lunch I get this

Literally my favorite place in Courtenay. Really amazing fresh food, great options for gluten free and vegan and all of that for a really fair price. The people there are so nice, I never have to wait long and the location is perfect to meet friends! All in all a place that makes you feel welcome and happy :)

The bowls are terrible, very small servings and tasted bad. The service was great though.

Amazing food!! We had a glory bowl and a moroccan bowl. The moroccan bowl had a spicy tasty daal and chicken. The glory bowl was fully vegetarian and had a very unique taste to it. The veggies were fresh and just went really well together! The sauce just gave an amazing unique taste/feel to the entire bowl. Would recommend.

We met a couple from Edm there & had a nice visit sharing some of lifes journey.

Lovely experience and amazing coffee!

Nice place and staff were pleasant when ordering. More than willing to try another time as it was my first time but the overall visit wasn t very good. I ordered the Muddy breakfast bowl and it came out quite quickly which was good, though I don t think I ve been served such a dry meal in a restaurant before kind of the equivalent of eating dry toast. The staff didn t understand what I was trying to say when I brought it to their attention so I just brought my food back to the counter and left not a word said by any of them even after I d already paid AND tipped.

Been a regular for years, staff are friendly and easy going, and theres a variety of milk alternatives for your drinks to fit a range of dietary restrictions and taste preferences.

I love the atmosphere, the staff are great, prices are good, love the new outdoor area with the fire in the middle of the picnic tabel. But I didnt enjoy the drink that I ordered an acquired taste I think, and didnt have the courage to say anything.

Food is ok but the vegan burger is not a burger and the smoothies are actually milkshakes.

Mudsharks is my favourite monthly hangout spot with my friends. The new patio set up is great and the chai latte with oat milk is my favorite. Highly recommend

We ordered the bowls for takeout and we both loved them! We had the Glory and the Moroccan.

Staff were extremely friendly, never felt out of place (idk much about coffee) but I know this place is on another level, they deserve all praise and business. Ill be grabbing coffee here again! Food and coffee quality excellent btw.

Disappointing follow-up visit to Mudsharks - a pity because I can tell that theyre trying to make it work. Coffee was lukewarm, not enough cream supplied for two coffees, so when I asked for two jugs of cream, I literally got two jugs each with a tiny shot of cream! My wifes dish required salt but even when I went back in and requested some salt, I was told that they didnt have any! My bagel with jam had one tiny plastic pack of jam, not enough for a full bagel. We probably wouldnt rush back there but may return to see if there are any improvements. Definitely disappointing!

Friendly and efficient staff. Love the outdoor patio. The salad was delicious but I found the breakfast pizza just mediocre. Not as good as the rest of the menu. But worth trying.

Although Ive never had the coffees here, I often get varieties of the delicious bowls they offer. Glory and the Moroccan bowls are my favorite so far. So delicious. Without the need to get into great detail, I can assure a visit will not disappoint. The staff is warm, welcoming and friendly. The unique and comfortable atmosphere inside will certainly have you enjoying your visit.

Had an early breakfast there yesterday morning with my friend. I had a latte, and I have to say it was a very good latte indeed! My friend and I had the avocado breakfast wrap. It was good, although on the Bland Side, could have used a sauce of some sort although it did come with a side of a tomato type of salsa, which I dont really feel added to it. It actually tasted like it came out of a can or jar. Im actually hoping it came out of a can or jar as I would feel as though I might be offending mudsharks if I found out that the tomato salsa is homemade. If thats the case they need to do a bit of work on it... all in all great coffee and a decent breakfast for a good price, especially if you get there before 9 a.m. as it was 50% off the meals.

Good Vegan options

Nice place but don t take decaf or americano white. Ordered two large drip coffee, one decaf and one regular. When paying , I realized i was charged 9.01cad and was told decaf is an americano. When tasting the decaf , it was so bitter and weak we asked to change to regular, unfortunately they brought another americano and it was really weak. Likely they only put one shot of coffee. For 9cad, it felt really frustrating to have bad coffee. At least the drip was good but it left us with a bitter taste literally and physically .

Friendly service, great food at reasonable prices and a large outdoor seating area with a cool vibe.

I had the Buddha Bowl, and while it was delicious, I have a suggestion that I think would make it a 5 star, and I hope you agree. Have you thought of putting a sauce or dressing on it? It would elevate the flavor, in my opinion. I hope you at least think about my suggestion. Other than that, love the atmosphere & coffee and will return. And hopefully, you have given my suggestions some thought.

First off coffee is fantastic. The brew 49th Parallel coffee and it is great. The staff is very friendly and the service is great. Wonderful outdoor siting area.

Best breakfast sandwich ever. We were visiting the area and I drove back the second day just to buy again for our breakfast. Apparently its the chefs great grandmothers recipe. Great coffee and other fabulous looking baked goods all made in-house too. Def. worth the stop.

Totally forgot to take the photo. It is a must visit coffee place for great selection of breakfast and lunch or even a pastry treats (besides coffee). Staff were super friendly and attentive. Their merchandise were super cute so we can t help to pick up at shirt when having lunch We had breakfast bagel , breakfast wrap, ham and Swiss croissant, veggie chili, iced latte, and m&m cookie there and everything were awesome! Because we are camping in the area we need places to eat where we can bring the dogs. If the food is healthy so much the better. Food was hot and tasty and served very quickly. We will likely be back again before we head for home.

If you like really strong thick coffee, then this is the place for you. However I am not a fan and sadly that was the best part of our breakfast! I do not for the life of me know how this place gets 4.5 stars!!! We ordered the breakfast bowls and they were disgusting! Not much food, but the eggs were literally like rubber!! I have no idea how one even gets eggs to go like that! Completely inedible. And what we did eat, made both my wife and I have horrible stomach cramping for about half an hour! Dont do it!

Decent lattes and coffee. Muffins were fairly greasy, and they ask diners to clear their own tables after dining - a pet peeve of mine, since it means no one ever gets around to cleaning the tables between visitors. Cute place, good people watching.

I came back after years of living out of town and mudsharks has only expanded since Ive gone but still bring the same great quality and delicious treats theyve always had. I enjoy the atmosphere that they provide!

Nice environment for a meal.Enjoyed my meal while listening to a guitarist playing some nice tunes.. Met a gf there for lunch and we had a enjoyable experience..

This place doesnt appear to enforce the mask mandate. Good food though! I had the banana buzz smoothie and a bagel breakfast sandwich and both were great. I realize that its challenging to make the employees at small coffee shops and restaurants enforce new rules so I sympathize with them but also its kind of annoying seeing people walk in an order or go to the bathroom without a mask on.

Great place. Had breakfast and lunch while I was in town. Was not the biggest fan of the nachos but the the coffee and the avocado egg wrap was great.

I love this place! They really know their coffee, know how to make it, and they use well roasted and well sourced beans. Nice people too.

Convenient coffee shop using 49th parallel beans and a ton of food and baked options including vegan and breakfast. Carrot lox bagel is a hit and the outdoor seating area with a fire is also great! Mocha was delicious!
