Best breakfast in town full stop. Only fruit bowl worth paying for. It's a small place and tables are close, and because it's so good it can be a wait for even a table of two. Is it worth the wait? 110%
We have lived near The Hen and Hog Cafe for about 4 years now. Seldom do we drive by when there isn’t a queue. Today was one of those days and it proved to be worth any wait. The staff were cheerful, helpful and quick. The food was appealing to the view and tasteful to taste. Small but very cozy setting
I have had breakfast here a few times when visiting from out of town. It is one of the best places I have been. The food is excellent with fair portions and a varied menu. It is a bit cramped inside but worth the wait when it is busy.
It’s a small restaurant with a lot of character. Service was quick and efficient. Menu was mouth watering delicious, took me a long time to decide on what I wanted as there were so many good choices and we were travelling so knew I wouldn’t be back anytime soon. Breakfast was delicious! I had the crepe stuffed with scrambled eggs, ham, spinach, cheese , tomatoes and a dill sauce on top accompanied by fried new potatoes. Big portions. You gotta go there!
A very unassuming place. I went here for breakfast because of the raving Google reviews. The service was very friendly and quick, despite how packed out busy it was on a Monday morning. The chipotle hollandaise was delicious, flavourful, and had a nice kick of heat. The Belgian waffle Benny was the best combination of sweet and salty, with thick cut home style bacon. So glad we went in despite the outward appearance of being attached to a motel. Would recommend to anyone passing through.
Our go to spot for Brunch .. Locals know & we know this is the place to be. Not uncommon for peeps willing to wait any amount of time just for a seat . Eggs Benny are amazing , although everything is amazing so just go try it you won’t be disappointed
Food was amazing, fresh and well presented! Service was good, the gals do a great job. I see how popular this place is by the fact that as soon as a table came available it was quickly filled. A terrific sign that we hit a gem 💎 (My only critique would be the Tequila Sunrise being served in a tumbler with a carnival straw was not so classy but minor and an easy fix) Sincerely, Ms. Fancy Google Reviewer ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 million + picture views Follow me for the straight goods on places to dine!
Loved this place! Will definitely be back! The food is so good. I love how the food is unique and inventive. It was my first time trying eggs benedict and I want to have more! The servers were kind and they checked up on us well.
Alway a great place e to eat. Plan on waiting a bit to get in. Wheelchair accessibility: Unfortunatly this place is not wheelchair accessible. There smare steps to get in, the area is quite cramped and the only washrooms are in the basement.
Second time hitting this place on road trips. The wait is worth it. Food hits the bench mark.
Very warm atmosphere, delicious food and great service. They don t have espresso, but that s OK their filter coffee is very good.
Great food
Chef Microwave was hard at work. We left before we got sat, after being asked to wait outside in the cold.
Best crepes ever. Thanks Darren
Cute breakfast place.
The food is amazing and worth the wait. Friendly staff as well!
I got the west coast breakfast bowl, wife got the taco bowl, both out of this world, 10/10 would recommend to a friend!
Lovely little restaurant with great brunch and friendly service.
Super delicious
Pricey for breakfast
The food was great but the kitchen was unbelievably slow. The tables were about 3/4 full and it took 30 minutes for eggs Benedict. Very noisy and crowded between tables
Cozy cafe with delicious breakfast menu!
Wow, absolutely incredible
Good reviews so decided to try this out. Don t understand why servers seemed miserable, not one smile the entire time we were there, after being sat, never made eye contact with us, waited 30-40 mins for a refill on coffee/water. Food took about 45-60 mins and was meh. Do not recommend.
Excellent food and large portions. 1/2 order of eggs benny was more than enough
A cozy space with great food and service.
Such good food, just wish it didnt take so long to get in. But I guess you wait for the things you love.
Their hollandaise sauce is amazing
Everyone at our table agreed: hen and hog served us the best breakfasts weve ever had!... with the best service... and fair prices given the very high quality! Cant compliment them enough.
Great food, great service. You made my day
There s a line up for a reason , must try when in town
Fantastic breakfast
The best ever brunch we have ever had. Worth the wait. Food
Taco Benny was AMAZING! Best eggs Benny Ive ever had.
Fantastic food I have had many Bennys, but this is a entire different level Great service + you taste the quality Food : 5/5
Really good food with large portions. The only problem is the place is really small and it can be hard to get a table.
Best eggs Benny in the valley. The new servers are great! Food
This place is super cozy, great vibes, tunes were hitting all the right spots, food was so delicious and the fruit was fresh! Will be coming back for sure!
Have to get the early. But man its worth it!
Best eggs Benedict!
The food is awesome.
A comprehensive menu and great food. Easy to understand the popularity of this breakfast restaurant .
Its small and crowded but the chef greets you warmly, the service is immediate and the servings are huge and delicious
We may have waited 20 minutes to get a table but after the first bite -- i would have waited an hour. This is a very quaint restaurant, prices were very fair considering the quality and hard-work the staff put into it. Breakfast was served quickly warm and every fork full was savoured. Thank you hen and hog for a memorable breakfast experience. I wish we were locals because this would most definitely become a weekend routine.
Had a great traditional style breakfast at this lovely spot in lower Courtenay. Parking: Parking aligns with Hotel, but no bike rack. I locked to a support pole. Food : 4/5 |
Love the Hen & Hog!! Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible . Washroom is downstairs however Food : 5/5 |
Great breakfast.
Always a great place for Breakfast good food pleasant staff
Great little restaurant, Crepes were most excellent
Food is very good and big portion. Very reasonable price. Highly recommended.
Parking: Half the lot is for the hotel, the other half is publicly usable Wheelchair accessibility: Space is quite small and there are stairs to reach the bathroom, no ramp. Food : 4/5 |
I used to been to the motel next to it, my friend make fun of ur logo a lot, and it s been 5 yrs we have already graduated. I m glad that you guys still open, we are very regret that we only make fun of it but never try, the curious has been surround by us for years and finally I ve find ur shop on google map by memory, we will planning to visit this year! Thank you for giving us a good memory about it, and about our childhood!!
A cozy local breakfast spot. If you like big breakfasts with lots of sauce and meat, this is the place for you! Vegetable omelette was great but we could have passed on the house made hash browns. Vegetable eggs Benny were also great. West Coast bowl was supper cheesy and saucy. This is a place that needs to fit your breakfast taste!
Clubhouse eggs Benedict is very filling! Bring your appetite!
Really good food, locally sourced ingredients. First time going for me, I always see a line up outside but it moves quickly, its a bit cramped inside and its loud, so hard to have a conversation Food was so good and reasonably priced Parking: Its in the same complex as a motel so theres plenty of parking
We make the trip over 100kms to eat here when we want to have breakfast. You may ask why? Well, it is unreal...... I am a frequent dinning out consumer and have had many meals by many locations through Vancouver island. And this dinner, by far, is amazing. Presentation is 5 star, flavor is 5 star, and service is second to none. There is a reason you will often be waiting for a table here, but is most definitely worth the wait.
Ate here yesterday after seeing some good reviews of it, and it was great. Solid staff, attentive but not annoying. Food was fantastic. Its a small space but it was cute and nice, they really make the most of it. Good prices for the quality and portions too. Will definitely go back.
Best breakfast in the comox valley
The restaurant is very small and only seats 30. The tables are very close it feels crowded. The staff are really friendly and helpful. They have a great selection on the menu. The portions are very good. The food is plated artfully. I had the Rancheros which was excellent. Will be back to try something else. The second visit was as good as the first time. The food is very consistent in quality and is appetitizimg to the eyes. I really enjoyed the waffles with fresh fruit . The fruit was many different types of fruit and all were nice and ripe. Real whipped cream and maple syrup just make this meal really enjoyable.
Amazing service from Melissa
Worth the wait, nice staff/good service and food is great!
AMAZING Breakfast! Super fresh fruit and a Baileys Coffee Special! Husband had the Eggs Benny with Chipotle Sauce, best Eggs Benny he has ever had! Would definitely recommend!
Cute little place. Not a lot of room for large parties but the food is fresh and delicious!
I just want to give a huge shout out to Darren, the owner for being a stellar human being. He went out of his way to show the upmost kindness and generosity with his customers without expecting anything in return. And he definitely has the best hollandaise sauce in town! Will be visiting there again soon!
Awesome food and friendly atmosphere. We will definitely come again
Awesome crepes
I still dream about this place! I will definitely be back when Im back visiting! I had the taco supreme eggs Benny and never had anything like it! Highly recommend this place!!
Wonderful eggs Benedict.
The waffles are delicious! When they say theyre home made, they are ACTUALLY home made!
Go early unless you are willing to wait; this place is very popular and for good reason, they serve excellent breakfasts and nothing else all day. Our party of four tried three different bennies and they were all delicious. Servers were friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. We arrived at 8:00 am and got a table easily, but by the time we were finished there were hungry folk waiting outside for our table.
The food is always great and the service is very friendly and intimate. It s a smaller space and quite busy but you never feel rushed or crowded.
This had to be one of the single best breakfasts I have ever enjoyed in my lifetime. Outstanding service! Outstanding food! Outstanding experience. I would go back again and again.
GREAT FOOD AND AWESOME SERVICE - would highly Recommend Food
Good food
It was excellent
What a great place ......5 Stars on all categories. Great food, good coffee, excellent staff, some of which have been working here for years. I had the most unusual Eggs Benny that was absolutely delicious, made by their indigenous cooks. It was a baked yam, sauteed mushroom and feta cheese Eggs Benny ..... as per my picture. Everything else on the menu I wanted to try, and every breakfast I saw go by looked really good. Ill be back again
Great little spot for breakfast/brunch. We weren t going to visit because we generally try to stay away from restaurants in hotels. Thankfully The Hen & Hog is not your typical hotel restaurant. I had the huevos rancheros and it was delish. So delicious that I dug in and forgot to take a pic. The coffee was also stellar and comes in a big mug so it stays hot and you don t have to keep getting refills that ruin your cream and sugar ratio. Definitely worth a visit!
Nutella banana crepes are a food group!!! omg they are amazing! I pretty much have them every saturday!
A beautiful, quaint restaurant! The staff is so welcoming. It was reminiscent of a walk down memory lane, at a time where home made food was so important. It is all there, truly next level. There are three choices of sauce on the benes, outstanding.
Amazing food, best breakfast spot in Courtney. Its a small little place so there may be a short wait to get a table and service may be a bit slow (1 waitress for the whole place) but the food was worth it. The coffee choice was limited to drip style and tea was liptons, thats the one downside.
Great supreme veggy breakfast. Good service. Vegetarian options: I ordered veggy omelette. Awesome portion. Food : 5/5 |
Wow, the best TexMex omelet Ive ever had !!!! Amazing eatery. Will be back for sure.
Highly recommend this hidden gem. Always had great service. One of the best egg bennies Ive ever had. Nothing beats the lemon dill egg benny!
Fantastic breakfast! Eggs cooked perfectly, the ham flavorful, bacon thick, and sausage fabulous!
Amazing Bennys absolutely a must try when in the valley. Service and food is top notch!
Unnecessary approach by the waitress. We asked for a table of 6, she told us five minutes. Enough time to park the can and bring the children in. Waited and then waited some more while the waitress was chatting with another table. Nothing wrong with that until she asked us to wait outside because we were blocking the entrance. Very rude and unnecessary especially with empty tables inside. We just left.
Best Benny yet, worth the wait!
What a gem this place is. Excellent service from the very friendly staff. Food was excellent and so delicious. Everything was top quality with a real homemade vibe to it. Totally recommend
Delicious! We waited around 30 min for a table when arriving around 11am, but it was worth it. Coffee served in big mugs, adorable little place, great service. I had the Big Feast and really enjoyed the thick cut bacon, large Italian style breakfast sausages and perfectly cooked eggs. My partner really enjoyed his omelette. We will be back!
Melissa was taking care of everyone and doing a great job of it! Food is exceptional! Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp beside the stairs
Vegetarian options: Granola Dietary restrictions: Able to ask for things not to have what uou do not want Parking: I had the taco bowl. Lots of wonderful flavours, hearty, and very filling.
Food was absolutely incredible. Some of the best egg bennys we ve ever had. The restaurant itself is pretty small and can feel crowded but c est la vie, it didn t bother us.
Delicious Eggs Benedict, had the lemon dill hollandaise sauce, nicely seasoned breakfast potatoes
My wife and I had an excellent breakfast this morning. Smelled fresh coffee two feet inside the door. Eggs Benny every way you could want.
I 100% recommend this cozy little spot to anyone in the area looking for a great place for breakfast, savoury or sweet there s something for everyone. 10/10 in terms of service, food and atmosphere. Oh and the coffee was some of the best I ve had, so good I had to get one to go!
Highly recommend this cute, quaint spot for a delicious breakfast! This benny was incredible and mu husband loved the Mexican breakfast bowl. Will definitely be back when we visit the area again.
Like eggs Bennie? Go here. End of review. Vegetarian options: Florentine-style with spinach is great. Food : 5/5 |
Amazing place to eat if youre on the island, everything is locally sourced pretty much within a mile
Great breakfast. Large portions.
Its a small place and we had to squeeze in but the food and service was outstanding.
With a 4.6 star rating and 500+ reviews overall, this should have been better. Service was slow and haphazard, although the older server was lovely. Three tables arrived after us and all got food before us. I was envious, until our food arrived. The veggie omelette tasted like old oil and an overwhelming amount of rosemary. The hash browns weren t browned; they were also completely unseasoned. Adding salt and pepper before trying them unfortunately didn t help. The best part of the meal was the sourdough toast that was also over-buttered margarined..? My partner s meal was also poor. At almost $60 for two of us, this was extremely disappointing. The lineup for tables out the door left us puzzled.
Food is to die for. Its a must try. Expect to wait on the weekend for at least 30 min but use that time to visit and look at their menu. Theres so many tasty choices.
Here, have another star: Yum.
AMAZING FOOD AND SERVICE ! From the second we walked in , Darren ( the owner ) took very good care of us. THE FOOD IS THE BEST IN TOWN . Very highly recommended as our whole group rated the restaurant 10/10 !
Yummmyy eggs Benny!! However, the eggs were undercooked for medium poached, and the wrong hollandaise was used on our take-out Bennys. I ordered chipotle hollandaise on my chicken club Benny but got traditional hollandaise, and my friend ordered traditional hollandaise on a traditional Benny, but got chipotle hollandaise on hers. Still enjoyed it, but didnt get what we were expecting/asked for.
One of the best breakfast spots in Courtney! The Carnivore Benny and Fresh Fruit Crepes were awesome!
Very yummy and great potions!
Hands down best breakfast Ive had. Actual full size cups of coffee, delicious food. Super friendly wonderful staff. Cant wait to go back.
What a surprise. Love it when your order comes out steaming hot. Fresh, home made style cooking. I had the taco omelette and it was fantastic. Coming back here again. Great staff too.
Cute brunch cafe! Really friendly service! The eggs Benny is delicious. The dill hollandaise is sooo good! Probably the best hollandaise sauce I ve had ever! Waffle was light and fluffy just like waffles should be, perfect! Omelette was filling. Grapefruit mimosa tasted like grapefruit juice and the orange mimosa tasted like orange juice.
I was recommended this restaurant by someone in the community and they did not disappoint. The food was excellent and the staff really know how to make you feel welcome.
Googled best breakfast and this came up, so we were sure to hit it up while up from Nanaimo. Basically...wow!! The food is better than the pictures and thats hard to do as the presentation of the food is top notch. The 2 waitresses that are regularly there are by far the best and its the same wait staff for a couple years now that Ive seen. everytime we go its been excellent service regardless of who serves us. I cant recommend this place enough as the benedict is unbeatable. Everything is locally sourced, the English muffins from Vassilis were great. Well stop again before we head home, all this while having a free breakfast buffet at our hotel, which we decline in favour of this new spot.
Was great food, I had the club house Benny, was delicious. Arrive early in the morning though as this place gets busy.
Pretty cramped seating area. Food was pretty good but nothing special. Our waitress was a stickler about only accepting 1 form of covid passport. Not sure why it matters so much which form of passport I have. Overall it was ok but probably wont go back.
Absolutely Loved it. The food was amazing. Great breakfast menu. They only serve breakfast and close at 130pm. Nice outdoor patio(a little noisy because of a busy road but that cant be helped) and the service was very good.
My go to spot for breakfast everytime
Great food and service. Generous portions.
Favorite breakfast place in Courtenay. Great food, great service
Great and delicious.
We were very disappointed this time. Not at all the quality we experienced several years ago. The ham was thin with fat still attached. The hollandaise sauce was strange and the potatoes greasy. Coffee was 3.50 each. Such a disappointment.
Always a fun experience! Awesome food, great service!
The food is pretty good but the restaurant is small and extremely loud it sounds like youre in a loud nightclub, you can barely hear the person right across the table from you...
Very cozy, great food and excellent service. If we want to treat our grandchildren to breakfast out and ask them where they want to go - this is the unanimous choice every time. They love the breakfast waffles with strawberries. You might have to wait a bit but definitely worth the wait.
Food was delicious but I was not a fan of the coffee.
This is my favourite breakfast place on the island. The food is always so good and the waitresses are so friendly. I highly recommend it.
Always good eats.
Great place for breakfast.
Friendly staff and wonderful food. Bit of a wait to get in but service was quick and food was delicious.
Best bennies ever
Best bennies we have ever had!! Charming little breakfast joint with integrity and great service. Heart & soul and amazing food!!
Food was amazing! There was an around 15 minute wait to get a table, but was definitely worth it! I ordered the deluxe fresh fruit crepe and it looked unrealistic! It was the best breakfast I ve ever had, service wasn t fast or slow, but for the effort put into my meal it was definitely impressive.
Best eggs benny on the west coast. Great service. A must stop for breakfast.
Super friendly staff and a delicious plate full of goodies!
I asked my dad to go for breakfast since we had some time before our flight home on our last day in Courtenay. A neighbour back home had recommended The Hen and the Hog Cafe, and at a glance online it seemed to have good reviews. We ordered the waffle and quinoa bowl to eat. The table next to us received their food about 5-10 minutes after we sat down. They ate their food and paid, as we waited for our food to arrive. 3 tables had been seated after us (2 single people and a couple), and they all received their food and were eating as we waited. My Dad inquired to the wait and the reply was, There are 2 sides to the kitchen, a hot side and a cold side. He noted that several tables came after us and were already eating. The same sentence was repeated to us. We were told our food was coming. Sympathizing with the customer goes a long way. Acknowledging our wait (30+ minutes) and that seeing other food come out for people who came into the cafe after us, would have put us at ease. Explaining the structure of the kitchen set up does not. Taking our orange juice and tea off the bill would have made us feel welcome there and we would have left on a positive note. Checking in after a few bites would have turned the situation around. Once we received our food no one came to us until my Dad s plate needed to be cleared. We unfortunately had absolutely no service which is super unfortunate and a sad way to experience breakfast while on vacation. The Benny s looked great. If you love eggs Benedict you may enjoy this place. However between the poor service, the location only a few feet off the highway (we could hardly talk as the trucks rumbled by), and the ill-proportioned amount of quinoa I received (I m not sure who eats that much quinoa in one sitting. I would have cooked that much quinoa for several dinners in a week) we don t recommend you eat breakfast there.
Best Bennys hands down
Coffee seems like it s from a distributor rather than somewhere local and delicious. Food was fine, but nothing to write home about (so I ll write to google instead ;) ).
I am from the lower mainland and bring my dog with me to the island I have tried 3 times to go here and patio is never open this place is not dog friendly
The food was amazing, service was adequate, but the music was so loud for such a small space. I would recommend for the food, but not the atmosphere.
The service was very bad the waiters were rude to our table and flirted with the men at other tables because they knew they would get tips out of them. Service was slow and when we asked the host a question she didn t even make eye contact and answered impolitely. Very disappointed.
Excellent food, small space and can be quite noisy
Best restaurant in BC Island
Fresh food and just the right amount
We found it a little hard to find because it was small and part of the hotel. Very busy little spot. Just a short wait but worth it. We Had the Eggs Benny and the feast.
Always amazing. A place like this in Victoria would have a line up around the block.
Awesome food! Bit pricey but you get what you pay for here. Top notch service.
Short wait, clean, and well prepared meals! The stuf makes everyone feel welcome. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian omelet Parking: Easy access to parking.
Excellent on all accounts!
Very busy - obviously popular. Lovely staff. I went there because of great reviews. Had Eggs Benny - the English muffin was like it had been sitting in hot water - was terrible. Also, no soap or paper towels in bathroom. Parking: Located adjoining motel. Therefore, ample off street parking.
Their taco ommelet is to die for
great food you have to be patient though they dont have a large dining room worth the wait.
Consistently one of the best breakfasts/bennies in the valley
Great place for bennys! Really enjoyed my meal and wasn t overpriced :)
Terrible breakfast and and unbelievable ending. I ordered the eggs benny. The eggs were pretty much raw - lots of runny egg white. This is served with lemon sauce if you can imagine. It was disgusting. When I went to pay the owner asked how my food was. I didnt answer. He took my credit card and tossed it over my shoulder where it landed on the floor. Excuse me? Just dont go here. During my visit I found 2 places with very good Eggs Benedict. Michaels on Main was the absolute best I have ever had and Atlas was pretty good but very stingy on the Hollandaise sauce.
Best eggs benny in town!
Great food friendly staff.
Delicious, fresh food and the servers are super nice. Its in the same building as the Comox Valley Inn.
Fantastic brunch. Bathrooms meh
Deliciousness... only difficulty is waiting for the table. Highly recommend. Food made fresh to order.
I dont think its ok for a breakfast restaurant to take 1 hr 15 mins to deliver food after ordering. We noticed parties of 2 being seated after us and finished breakfast well before our food arrived. They seem to also be accepting takeout orders at a rapid clip which also appear to more important than dine in patrons. I think ownership needs to be more realistic about their kitchen capacity as this was a painful experience. Food is decent but not worth the wait. Definitely not recommended for families.
Food is tasty. Popular breakfast spot. Be prepared to wait for a table - but worth it!
Good breakfast food :3
We were waiting outside for 5ish mins. Very understandable because its a busy breakfast place. the hostess saw we were waiting and helped the lady who budged in front of us first. Im not a confrontational person so we just left. I was very excited to explore the local places we just moved here.
We waited by the door for at least 5 minutes. They were busy so we were totally understanding. The hostess seated the older couple that arrived after us! I would understand if she had at least acknowledged us but she didnt. Didnt try the food because we just left.
The food here is delicious!! Maybe the best eggs Benny Ive ever had. Little bit of a wait to be seated but well worth it. Friendly staff. Well done!
I Dont mind a long wait if the experience is worth it, this was not. My menu stuck to the table like a sweaty back to a leather chair. I only got my coffee after asking 3 times. We waiting 45 minutes for our food which was OK at best.
Delicious food. Had to wait for a table (normal for a Sunday I m sure, no issue here). Our server was very friendly. Nice atmosphere inside. Everything was great until we were rushed out of our table (by someone other than our server). Her literal words I don t mean to rush you, but we need your table now . We were sitting maybe 30-45 min which included ordering, waiting for our meal, and eating. I will probably go again. But obviously I need to be prepared to inhale my food and chug my coffee. Thanks for the great eats.
It getting worse every year unfortunately. Waiting time was 40 min then 30 for cold food. Taste was below average compared to the reputation.
My party stopped here on the way through. The place is very small so there can be a lineup for seating but they also have some outdoor space. The food was absolutely what we needed after a few long days of hiking. I had the huevos rancheros with the poutine hash and the others had the breakfast sandwich. It was all fantastic and the service was great.
Spent a few days in the Comox - Courtney area on Vancouver Island with my family. We enjoyed the area, nice slow pace and beautiful, what surprised us was how many restaurants served great food. The Hog and Hen served an outstanding breakfast, very upscale in quality with great service. I wasnt sure what to expect as we pulled into the parking lot but were more than pleased with our experience.
Loved this cute spot, was happy they have breakfast at lunchtime. Friendly service, great breakfast. Really good eggs benny options and made with love. The dill hollandaise sauce is yummy but can get regular if preferred. Hot sauce is good. Coffee could be better but what can you do...
Seriously the best crepes Ive ever had. Fabulous service. Definitely will go back when I am in the area again.
The Food was awesome & Ann was the Sweetest
Favourite breakfast spot, delicious, well made food, excellent service, hot coffee.
I love the breakfast portions. Lots of goodness and extremely delicious food. If you like a wholesome experience, this is the place.
Try the carnivore eggs benedict
The best place for food and the best pleasent service
Stopped in for breakfast while in town. Staff were accommodating, we had a toddler who needed a high chair. I enjoyed my breakfast, two eggs with bacon and toast. If youve not been I highly recommend giving it a try.
Amazing service and food
If you have ever wondered why there is always a line up outside....its because the food is THAT GOOD and worth the wait. My first time there was memorable - ordered off the menu and was AMAZED when the food arrived.
Great breakfasts.
Certainly the best breakfast restaurant in the Comox valley! The huevos rancheros are absolutely amazing
Consistently good food,coffee and service.
Eggs Benny mmmm
Great breakfast spot. Friendly and attentive staff. A local favourite.
Just came in for breakfast as I ve heard nothing but great things about this breakfast place. I was disappointed at the almost 45min wait time for my breakfast in a not very busy restaurant. Upon receiving my food a hair was on my Benny. The server who I also think may have been the supervisor said oh no yeah let me remake that for you. No apologies My food came back and it seemed as if the egg and holly were rebuilt onto the old dish as the bottom part of my Benny was cold. The server came back to ask how everything was and I told her it was alright and she just walked away. I went to use the restroom and upon coming back noticed she was at our table asking my boyfriend how every was again and apologizing to him about my food. I would have liked the apology as it was my food with hair not his. Once back at the table I went to go for my second Benny to find yet again another hair. My boyfriend went up to who I think may have been a host to let her know. A couple minutes later she came back to our table grabbed my plate and simply said we won t charge you for this and left. The same girl came back with our bill with only my food removed and that was it. Where did our server go? We were extremely discussed and dissatisfied with the lack customer service and professionalism from our server during experience this morning. I ve left hungry and feeling like this mistake wasn t taken seriously at all.
Hadnt been in a little while breakfast was great and service was awesome , will be back soon .
Great food atmosphere and staff thanks
We had such a tasty breakfast there, we will be back indeed! Get there early to be guaranteed seating.
Yikes, the food is pretty bad. From my seat I could see the kitchen they were microwaving stuff. The potatoes too salty and the eggs completely bland. The coffee was classic diner style: burnt and tasted stale. I don t know why so many reviews say it s so delicious here. I mean, they do seem to try, to keep up with the amount of customers they have, but it s simply not good. In good news, service was fast, and we only waited 20 mins for a table. The server we had was lovely, courteous and polite. Despite that I d never go back here for breakfast due to the food alone.
Visited during a trip to the island with my partner and a couple of friends, and we loved the cafe! Breakfast was delicious, portions were huge, and the staff were all super friendly.
Recommended by a local, and for good reason. Cozy, kind & delicious are the 3 words I d use for this breakfast spot, you ll definitely want to consider buying a jar of their home made hollandaise! Breakfast potatoes were tender and spiced to perfection too - and if you prefer a sweet breakfast, hubby highly recommends the stuffed crepes.
