We started with a souvlaki skewer and a dream! OPA! is a Greek word used to express happiness, and evokes the joy and celebration of feasting with family and friends. Since we opened our first location over 20 years ago, everything we’ve done has been driven by the philosophy of OPA! The OPA! experience combines fresh Mediterranean cuisine with the friendly customer service we've become known for. We’re a quick-service Greek restaurant, but that just refers to the time it takes to serve our lovingly-made dishes. From the first bite, you’ll want to slow down and enjoy the moment with friends and family. We don’t just want you to love your meal; we want to have made a positive difference in your day.
Fast food greek food quite calamari good $47 for 3 people
Checked this place out today, it was my first visit to this location. The staff were really friendly and helpful with helping me find the right dish to try. I will definitely be coming back.
Pretty good for fast food Greek food. The pit was nice and fluffy.
This OPA is a PAPPA of customer service!!! Woww this guys are amazing at making food, they were exceptional at customer service (i thought customer service was dead these days but no) their staff had a big smile on their faces and greeted everyone that came in to grab food, and to be honest i have never seen a cleaner environment in food restaurants like this, WOWWW way to go guys, keep up the good work, i mean the staff must be getting paid good to do all this so smoothly (if not than they really need a raise, helll yeahhh, the wrap was freaking delicious)thanks OPA employees now everytime i come to superstore i m guna get meself a chicken wrap thats fo sure
My son and I arrived 10 minutes before closing and we were still welcomed with warm smiles. We ordered multiple things off of this menu. They were all delicious. The calamari exceeded most of the calamari that I used to have in Victoria BC. I haven't found calamari this good in twenty years! I will definitely be a regular at this restaurant. P.S. The calamari, again, was so good we wanted more. It was closing time, but I thought I would ask anyway. They provided!!!! Thanks again for the great food and service.
Downloaded and ordered through the OPA! 'app'. The setup was fairly straightforward and simple. I ordered the mega platter and had my choice of two proteins. I finally chose the shrimp and chicken kebabs. It came with rice pilaf, your choice of a tiny salad and white pita bread, tzatziki. I opted to order a bit more feta ( two tablespoons), which was an extra $1.49. I requested some eating utensils from the extras list. The total cost of the order and a take out bag (50 additional cents) was $21.95. The order was to be ready in 20 minutes. When I arrived at the restaurant, I checked in with the counter and informed the gentleman there that I was picking up my order. He told me it would be ready in about 5 minutes. The restaurant was totally empty at 2:45 pm. I was informed that my order was ready. I dropped a few dollars into the tip container at the till and left with my take out meal. My meal was OK. The chicken kebab, tzatziki & the pita bread were the best of the platter. The rice was dry and flavorless. The salad was very tiny. About 3 fork fulls. The shrimp were definitely imported from Asia. I don't fault the employees one bit. The employees can only do so much when you're a line worker. Everything about my experience went well except for my 'final goal'. Which was to have a tasty meal. I would visit again to reorder some of the menu items that I had enjoyed.
One of the best chicken wraps I've tasted in Courtenay! The wrap was perfectly seasoned with the sauce and included a lot of veggies with a whole wheat option. Opa is a must visit place and includes a lot of healthy options. The staff is quite friendly and always customizes my meals as per my requirements.
My wife and I had dinner the Courtenay Opa location. The experience is like having good Greek food at a fast food restaurant with a clean dine in area. The meal platters we ordered were very tasty. Our chicken skewers were nice but I especially enjoyed the rice and pita bread. The staff were polite and courteous. We would recommend family and friends try Opa for good tasting fast food that is reasonably priced as long as they don’t mind not sitting in a fancy restaurant to eat their Greek feast.
The Greek salad was old and had no dressing. The calamari tasted like old grease.
My Greek salad had two olives... And the spanakopita was old and previously overcooked. I wouldnt support this opa location
Just got my food in there restaurant and it taste good highly appreciated. Also the staff name jagjeet give us a wonderful experienced. Must be back soon.
the staffs is very friendly and very fast
Repeating customer Most DEFINITELY after my only 1st time
Great service employees are friendly.
Good food and service
I got a large lamb platter. When I finished eating, I was still pretty hungry. Definitely not a large. The food tasted decent but, not great. I m not paying $22 bucks for a small salad, small portion of rice, and a couple small skewers. Won t be getting a return visit from me.
Delicious food at a reasonable price!
Really good staff and food quality is superb
Great management and staff with super clean food
Best take out in Courtney
I went 2 opas for the first time today and it was great the food was great the tiziki sauce had a great flavor the staff was friendly and the restaraunt was clean my food was ready fast and was cooked right I left there VERY happy
Good food and staff
Service is very good I really appreciate there hardwork
Friendly and helpful! The food is great too
Superb quality and service!
Dont know what happened but the day I was there for takeaway, when we got back to the hotel to eat it (5mins later) the amount of salt was insane, it made the food basically inedible.
Went to this place today and service was very professional. Jagjeet was very professional and fast with making our order
Gave me food poisoning, dont eat at this location. Had the lamb gyro, greek salad and calamari. Now severely sick. Food
Good food for the price, nice folks. Cheers!
good service
Amazing food and staff! First place I went directly from hospital after having my son actually lol Forever a favourite when everything is so good!
Food is delicious here, falafel wrap is must recommended. Staff here is amazing and super cooperative. Would love to go again and again there. Food : 5/5
Great food great service!
Food was great and reasonably priced
Delicious Pita wrap Dietary restrictions: Pick your own toppings Food : 5/5 |
Great restaurant!
Working construction across the street from this ops and come in atleast twice a week. Jagjid running the store always knows what I m getting right away and I always have a great, quick experience here.
Place is very dirty! Even used skewer sticks just throw on the floor spilling out of the kitchen area.. makes you wonder about their food safety and cleanliness practices
Food is delicious and the service is great, friendly and easy. Great place to eat, favorite is the chicken gyro rice bowl, highly recommended
Loved the shrimp pita wrap. Taste was excellent and service is unparalleled!! Definitely would recommend checking out this place.
Opa Courtenay goes above and beyond! Super friendly, kind and generous workers. Not to mention yummy food! Wow so impressed!
Don t come here yet . It takes more than 40 minutes to get your food
Had two greek salad and side dishes. The Greek salad wasn t even mixed ALL tomatoes , a few onions and some feta. No dressing, you clearly know there isn t anything else for veggies.. You put it in a container and served it anyways. Are we supposed to check our take out before we leave the store now? The calamari something was off, barely anything in the batter and so thin. The food court in Nanaimo is 100 times better. For a new store do better training. One more try and off my list.. Start taking some pride in your job, or don t do it at all..
Had a gyro pita wrap. It was really good. Was there around 1 p.m., and the lady making the wrap did a great job. Will be back Vegetarian options: Salads etc Parking: Lots Kid-friendliness: Lots of seating
Service issues. I was the only one inside and waited a few minutes before being called. Cashier couldn t pronounce gyro. After I ordered they asked me to remind them what I ordered. They packed it to go after I said it was for here. Last, the light keeps flickering. If it improves ill update my review
I don t even have my food yet been waitin 40 mins kinda lame rather have a&w and the lights goin out every 5 mins not too thrilled food looks mid too
Was charged $13 a couple of weeks ago for a salad and skewer that is offered at $5 this week, the person in front of me had to debate with the employee about the food safety of their practices, the people behind me waited 10 minutes to be told that they were out of food.
We had a gyro, the beef and lamb was so dry and crunchy, and very little of it. Went there once, will not go there again, we will go to Yummies & Gyros here in Courtenay. The gyro was so skimpy so ordered calamari to try and get filled up Parking: Lot of parking
25 minutes from the time on my receipt until we got our order. At a regular slow food restaurant, that would be tolerable, but I thought Opa was fast food. Our order was str8fwd, no special requests. Will order via the app next time, if there is a next time.
Embarasment for every Greek person.
Im going to give you guys some benefit of the doubt here. Very first day on opening day I came in and I got a lamb pita wrap. The meat was amazing and was very well seasoned. However, I come back 3 days later and I order the same lamb pita wrap and the meat is now tasteless with no spices or care put into it. From what I can tell the meat is probably frozen from a large supply chain that supplies these meat columns, instead of you guys stacking and spicing the meat and cooking from the outside to the center, which is the original way to do it. It tastes like the exact same thing that yummies and gyros tries to pull on people. Dont be another yummies and gyros in town, that place is garbage. we NEED a proper greek takeout in the comox valley. Thank you.
The restaurant appears to be in need of some cleaning as there were several unclean tables and food on the floor, despite the lack of a large crowd. It is concerning that no one seemed to be attending to the cleanliness of the establishment, which raises questions about the overall hygiene standards, particularly in the kitchen area
Staff were super nice, food was bland, ordered via app and showed up when it said to grab food still sat 45 min waiting for sub par, over priced food. All the tables were full and no one was eating. Shame we were looking forward to this place opening up. Maybe they can hire more people.
Came in for lunch, staff was friendly and food was good and hot
Enjoyed meal, will be going back for sure.
As far as fast food goes, Opa is the best! Fresh vegetables and super garlicky tzatziki, freshly made in front of your face. I don t know why so many people are giving bad reviews. It was fast, flavourful and fresh! Super happy there is an Opa in Courtenay.
Rice was under cooked, waited 40 minutes for 2 meals. They boxed my food up before the meat was cooked so my pitas were soggy. I came back to see how theyre doing and pre-ordered via the app. I only waited 10 minutes, this time the food was better, more flavor but the lamb had a lot of gristle. I will be adding 1 star to my previous rating because I can see that theyre actually trying to improve.
Good food. Excellent and fast service.
Since day one it s gone down hill, they don t speak English and get orders wrong. The Greek salad is garbage and the meats are tasteless. NO GREEK FLAVOURS AT ALL.
The restaurant just opened and you can tell theres a need for more training. The food was not the best opa that I have been to. With time things should get straightened out. Its great they have opened much more affordable than yiamas My second visit was worse than the first the chicken was so over cooked it was almost not edible. I dont think I will be back they need to learn how to cook. They gave us 2 free meals. I think they have sorted out the training that will make the meals up to opas standards.
i was a bit apprehensive to give this place a shot after reading the reviews but glad I did. the food was absolutely delicious and service was Ive gone back twice now.
Ordered the Olympus rice bowl. Got home and it was made with fries. Worst meal ever, 10.00 dollars for a skimpy bowl of fries Parking: What more is there to say. Parking lot with ample parking
Quality was good could use more quantity though
Well apart from getting nearly every item incorrect. The overall lack of service was sad to see for such a new business. I had high hopes but clearly it wasnt meant to be.
Tried to call and make a pick up order because I do no have my credit card on me to use their self serve online order system. When I called and asked to make an order, the man on the phone said no...Just No. He wouldnt let me make an order...You just lost a customer. Word of mouth travels fast in this town, and customer service matters more than ever these days. Good luck to you.
I was sitting in here when all of a sudden all of the fricken plates dropped and they yelled OPA!! I was so confused. I think they ruptured my eardrums
I don t understand even after a review months ago why they don t wipe down their tables and make the store clean and tidy. There was nobody going into the store and nobody came when I was sitting. I was the only customer for at least 30 mins and they weren t doing anything but standing there. I would get so bored if I was working and doing nothing I usually would make the store spotless. All of the tables were gross and I had to go to my car and grab a wipe to sit down and eat.
I ordered a wrap no onions, with side order of rice. The guy making my wrap put onions on it. I said no onions, he said I put onions on is that ok. No its not ok, Then he said you want me to make you a new one. Well yes I do I paid for it. He didnt seem happy. So after waiting for him to make a second wrap. He puts fries in my container. I wanted rice, No you said Fries. Nooooo I said rice. 3 people working all doing cash and cooking the food. Not once did they change their gloves.
FOOD WAS AMAZING! SERVICE WAS EXCEPTIONAL! Vegetarian options: Falafel was yummy!
My husband is extremely happy with the customer service he received today on his lunch break. Thank you so much
Got the Opa platter and it barely had any food in it. Half of the box was pita bread and nothing else. The one lemon potato I got was overcooked and tiny. The chicken skewer was overcooked and hard. The portions are consistently small and not worth the money. Disappointing
Excelllent good, price and service
Just dont go. I used to give them the benefit of the doubt because I love the opa brand, and usually it was good but today they served us completely cold meat and the man at the counter was rude. So I wont be back. There is no point to spend 44$ on three meals and all the meat is cold.
Food and customer service was amazing. Kid-friendliness: Staff was very friendly with my kids. I loved that and it made a great experience with OPA. Food : 5/5 |
Food was delicious service was great
Very homie place really good food, has a good amount of flavour and all the employees are nice would suggest totally if you are trying to get a quick lunch. Vegetarian options: Good selection of options
Great food, great place, and amazing food service
Had the lamb. Perfectly cooked. Nice and sunny in here today.
Clean, good service, and a gyro with feta and jalapeño, that s where it s at. Great for fast food and certainly better than the competitor
Great place to be
Great food great service
the food was good and the service was too
Delicious!
Great food and customer service was fantastic. Loved the calamari and salad!
It is fast food that actually looks and tastes like real food
i dont think i can ever turn down opa! this place doesnt make me leave feeling like grease, The server was amazing, amazing cook and he was very nice, every table is fine and clean, Vegetarian options: many options that taste amazing Parking: lots of spota Kid-friendliness: many kid chairs Wheelchair accessibility: sadly very empty here but it makes for good accessible seating
