Yiamas has been my favorite restaurant in courtenay over the years! They have such amazing staff and food. I had such a delicious dinner there tonight and the prices are so reasonable. Thank you so much for such a wonderful dinner!

The food was fantastic, huge portions, and we really liked the dedicated vegan menu. It made ordering so much easier with dairy and egg allergies. The server was very friendly. It was a great experience all around.

We had dinner and although the service was excellent the food we ordered was just a bit disappointing. The roast lamb was very tender but far too SALTY. The Greek ribs were okay but no hint of lemon or oregano like other greek ribs I have had and were tasteless but tender. Just a bit off what was expected.

We ordered chicken souvlaki and kalamari. The chicken was dry, the tzatziki was missing cucumber and flavour, the rice was bland, there was no pita, next to no seasoning on anything and the kalamari was salty. Very unsatisfying.

We ordered through skip the dishes. Chicken souvlaki and dolmades. The souvlaki and rice were good but the Greek salad only had tomatoes and cucumber with a bit of feta with 2 olives. Not much flavor to the salad and I did not like the dolmades.

Mediocre but despite that, the food was expensive. Overall it was fine but I wouldnt come back. Bad service, but service is always a hit or miss with a lot of restaurants.

Legitimately some of the best food I have ever had in my LIFE. Go here. Seriously. The stuffed chicken was incredible, so tender and flavourful with a crispy skin. Even the vegetables and potatoes were absolutely bursting with flavour. And get the ekmek for dessert, you won t regret it! I wasn t even a fan of greek food before I went here and it has converted me. Also the staff are super friendly and helpful! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan options, including dessert! They have a whole separate vegan menu Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options, as well as options that can be made gluten free on request

Calamari was old and chewy, and potatoes were really salty. The rice was dry and very fresh.

My wife and I eat here often. The food is excellent, the calamari is possibly the best I ve had. The portions are large. Staff is great and the owner is too. We would recommend this place for anyone wanting great Greek food. We have honestly never had a bad meal here in the years we have been going!

We were able to reserve for a large group of over 15 on a Saturday night. They were great with service and accommodating and a party of that size. The portions were huge and the food was wonderful. My only complaint would be the washroom situation. You have to leave through a side door to use communal washrooms with the rest of the building... Not ideal or practical.

Glad that we found this place in Courtney. We were greeted and welcomed. Staff were very good and attentive. The restaurant was clean, had lovely music playing and lots of space. We ordered our food from a very well balanced menu. It was not too extensive, which is wonderful. We started with the saganaki, the cheese was very good quality. It was served with pita, which tasted nice. The cheese, unfortunately, was absolutely soaked in lemon juice. I couldnt eat it it was so absorbed. I had ordered the lamb chops and my husband ordered the back ribs they were both delicious meats, tender and seasoned properly. The side dishes however left a lot to be desired. The vegetables were dry and over cooked, the rice was basmati, very little veg and not cooked as a pilaf. The potatoes tasted awful and were inedible, they too had too much lemon juice! We do like lemon and love Greek potatoes, but this was over the top! The kitchen needs to tone back on the lemon juice. Prices were on the higher side, but not bad in comparison to other places. Because of the good service, atmosphere of the restaurant, and the delicious protein, we will give it another try. I do recommend trying it. Hopefully the lemon overdose was a fluke and a one time flaw.

Amazing dinner date last night for an early Valentines Day meal. The steak was cooked perfectly and the portions massive as usual! What a treat.

15/12/22 - Very disappointing. First time with Greek food and itll probably be my last. My Kalamari was lukewarm and unexciting. It wasnt very warm in the restaurant either. There was one server covering the whole restaurant and she was run off her feet however she did a great job under the circumstances. The washroom was clean and very well maintained. Would I go back? Probably not.

Just had take out tonight. Spanakopita dinner and chicken souvlaki dinner. Good size portions. Items that were very good. Greek potatoes, grilled vegetables, chicken(very good). Things that were poorly done. Rice(bland, no flavor), Greek salad(very little flavor), Spanakopita(was greasy and didnt seem to have any cheese in it, tasted ok), Tzatziki sauce(strange texture). I would give them another try. Could of been an off day for them, Most of their other reviews are great.

Best meal out in a while. We got the platter. Serve 2 adults and 2 kids. Was so good. Every last drop. We left very full. Which also is rare at many restaurants now. Could have taken some home for left overs but all food tastes best fresh and as had no way to reheat it as we were passing through. Kids also loved it. We wish we had this place where we lived. The pictures don t do it justice. I didn t take a picture of the full platter. It came with a bit of everything and again it was all good. There tzatziki is also really flavourful. Had their chicken souvlaki. The chicken thigh meat was grilled and tasty. The entree came with tzatziki sauce, grilled veggies, rice, potatoes, and a small helping of greek salad. After ordering our meal arrived within 15 minutes. The service was great!

First time at Yiamas and it was a great experience. We didnt know theres this hidden gem of a Greek restaurant right downtown ordered calamari, roast lamb and lamb souvlaki, all of which were good esp the calamari omg I couldve ordered another dish if I still had the space in my tummy. Will def go back again and try their other offerings Parking: Not sure if they have parking spaces but there may have been 2 spots in front of the store but thats it. Otherwise one has to find street parking elsewhere which isnt a big deal.

Early supper with family. Ordered the platter for a table of five and added the spinach dip. More than enough and it was great. So glad we found you. It will become the place to go for good greek food when we are in town. What a treat!!

This place is such a gem. Amazing food, amazing staff, cute decor, great pricing. I can t say enough good things. I thoroughly and genuinely enjoyed every single item on my plate and had leftovers to enjoy the next day. Our server was so nice and told us he is from Greece and so are the owners. You can taste this in the air and the food. Greek music in the background, Greek decor, Greek food and a vegan menu!!! It s not often I can enjoy Greek food (being vegan) and I am so happy I found this place. I will be recommending this to a lot of people and will be back to try more of the vegan menu!! The rest on my party is not vegan and visit Greece often and they felt like they were back in Greece, which is just the best compliment you could give. Excellent service, and we liked that there was a little placard you can turn when you re ready to order- nice touch. I honestly don t know why the food reviews are good; it was all pretty mediocre for the price. Each item we ordered lacked that extra something to make it delicious, and the ingredients didn t seems fresh. I ve eaten in some great Greek restaurants and I also make much better Greek food at home. Kid-friendliness: Staff were nice to our son and offered us crayons upon request

Great place for Greek food! Best food we have had on the Island in a while. Would like a medium sized salad for an appetizer. To share a meal, it comes with a small Greek salad. It was a LOT of salad. Would suggest something besides pita bread with tzatziki. Overall, really good meal.

We wanted to come to your restaurant for a late lunch at 2:23 pm to be told you are closed. You need to correct your hours of operation on the internet. Internet says you are open from 11 to 9 pm. We are very disappointed.

We went for a midweek family dinner and it was only okay . The roasted lamb was lacking flavour compared to a previous visit. Rice was served almost cold. Veggies lukewarm and salad tasted tired . Potatoes not fresh. It was only us and one other table occupied. We didn t get the typical bread with tzatziki that they used to bring to the table for free in previous years. Although the renovations were nice and we were so happy to find gluten free options, it was really cold in the restaurant and we had to keep our jackets on. Music didn t play until we left, lights were too bright and it was lacking atmosphere. Portions were good, service was good, too. Casual dinner experience with nothing special.

I love going here for the roasted lamb dinner. Its always been a real treat. Comes with rice, Greek salad, and potatoes with veg. The lamb, potatoes/veg and the rice were excessively salty this last time but we let someone know so I will go back again to see if that is going to be the usual (so if youre salt sensitive like me and suffer afterwards it might not be worth it). One of my friends isnt salt sensitive but agreed, the other generally uses a lot of salt so it was good for them. Ill update after I go again and hope I can keep coming back. The service was 100%.

First time at Yamas. What a pleasant surprise! Really enjoyed the roast lamb. It came with roasted vegetables, rice, potato and greek salad. My partner really enjoyed the Greek Ribs. Service was great and very accommodating. I have Celiac disease and they prepared a non-gluten Calamari appetizer using cornstarch which was great. Its a popular spot so be sure and call for a reservation.

Only tried the calamari from this shop. They were super busy and the service was polite. Unfortunately the calamari was not good, it did not taste fresh and was overwhelmingly over powered with onions.

Such friendly service and amazingly good Greek food. My husband ordered the Keftedes and we split them as an appetizer- so savoury! I had the stuffed chicken breast for my main and he had chicken souvlaki - everything was delicious and we left stuffed! What really made it a great dining out experience though was the warmth of the staff. And when I forgot my bag Amanda brought it all the way to more door. That was amazing! Will absolutely be back - soon!

3 years ago, for lunch. Service was slow. We were only ones there at 1 pm. I asked gor a beef gyro and got chicken. We have been there recently and the food is very good.

Was our first time there and wow we were impressed. So cozy inside, very on theme. Food portions are huge and so delicious. Our server was a sweetheart and made our experience all that much better. Will be back soon!

Always amazing food and great service

After a missing gyro in a Skip order, not only did they answer their phone quickly, but the correct gyro arrived on our doorstep (with a piece of surprise dessert!!) within 15 mins. The food is sooo good and great portions as well. 10/10 recommend!

Service good. Atmosphere bad. Food mediocre at best. Presentation: 3/10 Food: 5/10 LOTS of heavy creams and the tatziki tasted more like mayonnaise or a roux. Overall we felt like the food could have been good if they fixed their gross sauces. We had to eat outside because the restaurant smelled like a mix of stale cigarette smoke and dirty bathrooms. Drinks: MEH. The drinks were $9/each and basically tasted like fruit punch and a very boozy cooler.

I seen so many great reviews I was hopeful...we ordered the appie sampler platter it was delicious . I dont eat calamari and there was a lot of it my partner said it was great . There was 2 of all other items . The dolmades were very meaty the lemon sauce perfection . The spanokipita very thick. I loved the taziki dip very fresh and smooth. We added a humus dip also tasted fresh . Everything was bigger than most ive had at greek restaurants. Wish now we stopped there . The service was great all night except they didnt deal with our issue other than to mention it to the cook who disagreed . The portions were large on everything . The prices are fair when you see amounts . The main dishes are on large plates . There was the most beautiful carrots beautiful color so big they were cooked to perfect texture took a bite of whole one ...should spit it out my partner did . It was moldy tasting . I love herbs on my food . Im not sure if some how there was a moldy carrot or the spices were off .cook did confirm they used a dry spice and I could see how it could happen . But no alternate veggie offered or fresh batch of carrots that taste good offered . Than I got hits of it in my stuffed chicken which otherwise was very lovely flavor, so I do think it was the thyme. At first I was doubting my taste buds with chicken but about halfway thru it happened with a whole bite . I didnt bother to complain again as it hadnt been dealt with in carrots . Just a lesson learned everything else tasted great . My partners soulvalki meal was otherwise delicious Again the servers were very diligent. No one else seemed to be spitting out their carrots Im not sure how it could have been just our order . I will dream of the appy platter but we probably wont go back . Also it might be helpful to just hang bathroom key on the wall inside restaurant nwar the lobby door so you dont have to track down a server.

This review is a little late, but I took my partner here for a lovely meal a few weeks ago. The service was thoughtful and kind. The food was tasty and my portion of lamb was bigger than I could of hoped for. We had to take it home and eat if for lunch the next day. Everything about this place, form COVID safety to the food was amazing. I will be back!

You know its bad when the dogs wont eat it... This is the worst meeal Ive been served in my life, disgusting doesnt even begin to cover the swill this restraunt tried to pass off as food. Nothing about that meal was even Greek! (And Ive been to Greece!) MUSHY FRENCH FRIES ON A GYROS!?? GROSS The lamb was boiled slop. The dessert which was supposed to be filo based had NO filo in it. I want my $98 back these people have no business running a restraunt! Go to Yummies and Gyros folks!

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner tonight. We had the mega appetizer plate between 4 of us, and then our meals. Servers were great, no rush between courses and each of us ordered something different and we all really enjoyed every bite! Have been here several times and never been disappointed.

Best Greek food Ive ever had and Ive been to a lot of places. So much flavour! Very friendly service. They also have GF options - I have an allergy and no issues with the chicken souvlaki and the mouth watering lamb my husband had that I just had to taste! Well be back soon!

I came here for a company holiday party and this place was wonderful. The food was amazing. We were served hummus, olive pate, and spinach dip with two kinds of pita, which were all great. Most spinach dips are kind of runny, but this one was good and thick. Next we were on to calamari. Perfectly cooked. I should not have filled up so much at this part of the meal. We got Greek salad and Caesar salad, and the biggest thing I can mention about them is how nice it was that the onion was cut to a good size, not the huge cubes that a lot of places do. Then the entree: roasted potatoes, carrots, and beets that were maybe the best Ive ever had of any of those things, with prawns (perfect), chicken (I dont eat chicken so no review about that), and spanakopita, which was also amazing. There were two desserts that I never caught the names of. They were awesome, but I want in much of an eating mood by the time they came out after hummus, pate, spinach dip, pita, calamari, salad, roasted vegetables, prawns, and spanakopita. The staff was wonderful too. I believe we met almost the whole team at some point, even the cook poked his head out of the kitchen to receive a round of applause. They were all polite and smiling and really nice, but didnt hang out too long at the tables. Great service too. I dont think I have a negative thing to say. There were a couple in our group with some dietary restrictions, myself included, but every dish came with a summary of what could and couldnt be eaten (this is dairy, this is vegetarian). I think I even remember seeing a special option come out of the kitchen for a person with some more restrictive requirements. Overall, a really great time and a really great restaurant. Ill be looking for an opportunity to go back.
