Amazing experience i had avocado toast there loved the service and the atmosphere monil suggested some good vegetarian options.

Always a nice time and good food. We were so impressed with Lilian our server. She was just great! Plus manager went out of his way to find a dipping sauce we enjoyed, literally running over to superstore for us. Wow.

Absolutely awful place. My party were the only customers. Dad asked for tomato juice, got a V8 declined it and the waitress argued and said she told him it was tomato juice in a can. Its not even tomato juice. Sausages were undercooked, hashbrowns were undercooked. The sauce on the blackstone bowl was off. The glasses were dirty as was the cutlery. It seemed like it was one waitress and a cook and they both argued in some other language half the time. I would never go here again it is terrible and way too much money for the garbage quality of every aspect of this restaurant.

Only giving it 2 stars because our waitress was terrified of our service dog. If one waitress is scared they should switch off tables because it made us very uncomfortable.

The food has not been up to its usual standards. Very disappointing. I have hadcthe roast turkey dinner twice now, and both times, the vegetables have been terrible. 1st time, they were dried out and almost burnt, and the second time, they served the top garbage part of the carrots. What the heck is wrong with the cooks!!!!

My kids visiting from out if town. Ordered food for delivery. Requested for bacon instead of sausage. Got sausage..Asked for toast got French toast..eggs undercooked and hashbrowns raw. 60 bucks for all the order to be wrong. Definitely wont recommend this place in the future.

The server was alone and I got my food before my drink, which was made incorrectly according to the menu. When I complained to the manager, he told me to leave for being rude, I didn t realize pointing out a legitimate error was rude I won t be back, if you only have one staff member, then stop doing paperwork and help, lol Neither the server nor the manager knew the drink menu.

I recently dined at Rickys and was thoroughly disappointed with the experience. The quality has significantly declined. I paid $21 for a Caesar Salad that came with the smallest, thinnest chicken breast imaginable and no croutons. The customer service was poor. We were not greeted upon arrival, and when we finally got the attention of a server, they called to us from across the dining room. Upon commenting on the salad, the server was at a loss for words, so I requested to speak with the manager. The manager emerged from the kitchen in a disheveled state and offered a discount, but when the bill arrived, the prices were inconsistent with the menu. Based on this experience, I would recommend dining elsewhere.

The food was aweful and this was new cause i have been here several times it use to be good my friend had to wait quite awhile after mine was already served i had to chase them down for more water and the bill and when i pointed out the watery no taste au jus and completely soggy bun and my friend didnt like their over battered shrimp and fish she was like a deer in the headlights they were laughing when the server went back to the kitchen and please dont send me the repeative ill strive to do better speech like you have with other reviewers thanks but no thanks

Unfortunately, weve had 2 poor experiences in a row at the Rickys in Courtenay. We went 3 months ago. We were seated quickly, given menus and water quickly. However, that was where it ended. We waited more than 10 minutes, no more service. We waved at the server, they asked us to hang on just a minute. They never came to our table. We finally gave up and walked out. We returned today, hoping for a better experience. I ordered an interesting looking salad, called the Califresco. It had chicken, Quinoa, half an avocado, and lots of veggies, plus feta. It sounded like a great lunch! ($20.99). The service was quick. My wifes chicken tenders were very good. When my salad arrived, there was no avocado on it. There was a small paper cup with about 1/8c of guacamole in it. It wasnt very good guac! Next, there was absolutely no dressing on the salad. Finally, I picked off about a quarter of a large red onion, in slices. (this is way more than the picture gives you the impression youre going to receive). Am I being picky on this point about the onions? At this point, maybe yes. I asked our server to come back to the table, and told him what was wrong with the salad. He apologized about the avocado. I advised him that I wouldnt have ordered the salad if I had known that they didnt have any avocadoes. I think I should have been advised that they were out. The salad just didnt interest me anymore. I asked for the manager. The server left, and returned in a few minutes, and advised me that the manager wasnt available. Why? I guess thats up to interpretation! The server removed the salad from the bill, which I appreciated. Were not going back to the Courtenay Rickys. Weve had great success at the Rickys in Parksville, so if we feel the need, well go to that one. What a shame, two bad experiences in a row!

Our server was anything but personable or knowledgeable. Not only did he not understand what we were ordering while we were ordering, he brought it out wrong; drinks and food. In addition we were there for an hour and a half, which was mostly waiting around for our unseasoned and undercooked food. Additionally, we had to chase him down for our bills (which was wrong) and had to chase him down again to pay.

My daughter and I came for dinner on Saturday, February 24th, approximately 6:30pm. We were seated promptly, but not given menus. The server assigned to our table walked by and I had to ask her for menus, and also for cutlery. She returned with cutlery, but no napkins. The meals we selected came promptly. The server never came back and asked how our meals were, if she could get anything else for us, and her manner was such that she really didnt care whether we were there or not! It was not a pleasant dining experience for us, and we will not return again. Management needs to review with their servers how to make their dining patrons feel welcome, and provide customer service that is worth the price reflected on the menu.

We always go there, cause it is a great atmosphere and a big menu that we always find something we like.

Bring a group of residents to there, friendly staff helped out while was parking my company bus. The food was great. The owner gave us a good deal. thanks again. Will come back again ! Parking: Is a bug bus, crown a bit close by Superstore. Better find further parking lot,coz construction around building apartments.

Big breakfast, yummy with exceptional customer service

Service was fine. We were sat right away and she took our order within 5 mins. The booths are horrible to sit at as the backs are straight up and down. Not very comfortable at all. The burger was mediocre but the cheesy grilled cheese wasn t very good or cheesy. They usually grill cheese on the outside of the sandwich which was not done. They were out of sourdough so I got white instead which was fine. The Cajun dip has changed and isn t as good as the old c-dip. Won t be coming back to this location.

Just had the WORST experience at this location while visiting my family. My dad ordered the liver and onions and a side caesar salad. My dad had already had one bite and then realized that the meat was completely RAW like the entirety was RED and BLOODY. We called over our server to which they took the dish and my dad expressed he did not want another one brought out as he felt sick. My other family members ate their food while all my dad had was a poor looking caesar salad. After this, no server came by our table until the bill was brought out. On the bill they had DISCOUNTED the RAW liver they had fed to my dad. When i expressed to the server that it was absolutely unacceptable and then on top of that to charge him for the small salad he was left to eat. The server left and brought the bill back, the liver and onions had been removed but the salad was still reflected. I then said that they had made no effort to make this experience any better and that the least they could do was not charge us for the caesar salad. and then he left again. Next, a lady came to our table who I imagine was the Assistant Manager, she said that they had removed the liver and onions (only after we had refused to pay it) and that he ate the salad so there was no way they were removing that. She was incredibly rude, so I asked to speak with the Manager / Owner (Gary). She expressed that he was busy to which we said fine, we will wait. Immediately after she changed her story to that he was in the hospital. I then said we will pay the bill but we want his contact information along with corporate. She stood there for a moment, said she couldn t find it then disappeared. A couple mins later and our server appeared with the bill with both items removed. We paid the bill. I went up to the lady and asked her for the contact information to which she rolled her eyes and walked away from me. Our server then came out and provided us with Gary s contact. I am absolutely disgusted, to bed fed RAW meat and then to be met with attitude and no remorse for how sick that can make someone, no apology or evening trying to make the situation better. We in no way wanted our entire bill comped because of this but we wanted them to do the right thing which did not happen. We will never be returning, we suggest everyone steer clear of this location and have reached out to corporate.

Was served raw liver asked the server to take it away and that I did not want the meal remade. The servers did not return to the table after this until they brought us the bill with $10 off my meal. We said no the entire meal should be removed. They claimed to see the manager and then said he wasnt on site. Confusing, time consuming, and horrible. The liver meal was removed but not without serious anxt. If the health department sees this please inspect Rickys in Courtenay for everyones safety. Will not go again and can not recommend in any way.

We were seated for 45 minutes and did not receive anything to drink, not even water, or food and everyone after us had been served. will never come here again.

Heres the deal, we went in for breakfast like we do every weekend except this was our first time at this location. First thing youll notice is the restaurant is outdated along with the staff. Got to our table and asked the breakfast menu which they informed us that only three items can be served. Well it was 2:30...they serve breakfast until 4. After asking why, they decided to skirt the answer and allow us to order breakfast. That doesnt warrant 2 star though does it? Overall, the service, the food and overall experience was subpar. The reason for the one star is that we tried to contact the owner/manager several times to share the experience. Completely ignored us, sent another email.. Ignored. All you have to do is read the comments below to understand the mentally of the owner. 2 stars is what you get for ignoring your customers. If you cant keep your restaurant up to date, your menu items available and respond to emails... what happens to my eggs in the back? Suggestion... treat your customers like gold. They keep you in business putting food on your table. Think twice before you bite the hands that feed you. Dont reply to this review, you had your chance and your trend in the comments is excuses and not solutions.

I went into the pub area for a glass of wine while waiting for an appointment. I was told that I had to order food if I was going to have a drink, even though I wasnt hungry. I also pointed to a table and asked if I could sit there, and the server said she will probably forget about me there??? I sat at the table anyway and was given my barely half glass of wine in a dirty glass and a menu. The waitress came to me 3 times and asked what I was going to order, and 3 times, I told her nothing. She was quite pushy and even tried to get me to order fries. I have never been told that I MUST order food in a restaurant or bar before. It was ridiculous. Also, there were people coming in and had nowhere to sit as the tables were dirty with plates and glasses. Terrible service and atmosphere.

Visited last Thursday with my Dad for the first time for the All You Can Eat Fish and Chips for $21.99. Lovely clean venue with a fun atmosphere including a party at one table. Service was outstanding. I wish I had the name of the lovely lady who served us. She was busy but so attentive and she had the most genuine smile that never left her face. The coleslaw was delicious! The fish and chips were perfect! Literally perfect! Only thing missing was a slice of lemon. I definitely recommend Ricky s and hope to get in again before I have to leave BC.

Next time im in Courtenay ill pop by to see if its any better than it used to be, but my old review might not be accurate anymore. ... hope they still have good breakfast bowls, though. --- Old Review--- When they dont make you wait 15 minutes to make an order, and in the off chance they get your order right, it will probably be... Just alright. Ive never been blown away by this place, and I dont feel like I have high standards. I tend to go with family just so we can see if they ever break out of the sheer mediocrity that weve come to expect. Decent breakfast bowls though.

Came in to grab a bite as I had been working all day and realized I hadnt eaten. I was working on my laptop while eating my meal and watching the interaction between the server (Katrina) and the other guests in the restaurant. She was attentive to myself and all the other guests that she was serving. Always had a smile for everyone and kept checking on things to ensure the customers were happy and had everything they needed. I havent been in a Rickys in years but if service is always like this I would definitely come back. She could definitely give servers elsewhere in the Valley a lesson on great service.

Ordered a pick-up order from the Mobi app on Ricky s website. There was a mix-up as the beef-dip type sandwich I ordered wasn t currently available and they called me. I ended up going into the restaurant to get help in cancelling the order. Amazing customer service, the manager was able to sort out a resolution and I walked away with an amazing sandwich which was better than what I d been craving for days. Thank you to the manager, and thank you chefs for doing that for me. Will be back, and bringing my family!

Today me and my wife faced racism when we went for lunch at fatburger and which is also a part of ricky s. We wanted to sit on the lounge which was at the ricky s side and I have seen before many people sitting at ricky s side who orders from fatburger inspite of having empty seats at fatburger. After palcing an order at fatburger I asked the gentleman at the fatburger if we can sit that side and he politely said yes because it is from the same owners but when we approached there the old bald guy with specs(probably the owner but not sure) at ricky s rudely said us if we are eating from fatburger and I said yes then he said so you are not allowed here and I was like wow and it was completely empty and we went back to fatburger side and the person over there apologized us and we enjoyed our meal at fatburger. But after 15 minutes when two english guys came in fatburger and ordered from there for eat in they were allowed to sit on the ricky s side and no one stopped them. I was not offended because those guys were allowed to sit I got offended because of the behaviour of that employee or the owner at ricky s towards us. Ricky s is just a shame. I have a big corporate team and we have gone to ricky s couple times for breakfast and we were not at all happy with food at that time and I will make sure no one from my team should come back to ricky s because of their sick mentality. Raise your standard ricky s or else you will soon lose business. I hope owner and corporate reads this.

Went in with my son tonight to have dinner and the waiter kept approaching our table even after we had ordered to ask very inappropriate questions . Starting with asking if I take care of him on my own ? Asked about my son s father ? Did I have a husband and where was he ect . Made me feel very uncomfortable. My 6 year old picked up on the vibe and asked him to stop talking to me . When he attempted to approach the table again I asked for the bill and we left . Needless to say we will not be returning .

Rickys hosted a breakfast buffet for us as a work party yesterday (50+ppl). It was a great setup, they had a really good variety and spread of food; and it was ready to go the second we walked in to start the event. Food and drink refills kept coming and the staff were very polite. I didnt expect any table service with how we planned the event, but staff came by for drink top ups often. Thanks again!

Theres no point in keeping this place open, they are out of almost every single item on the menu. The food tastes disappointing and theres limited items on menu, I did not enjoy my time here. No wonder no one comes here. Im very disappointed. There was a used tampon on the ground, bloody tissue and hair in the sink, theres also exposed nails in the booths. For your sake dont come here.

Decided to try Rickys today before grocery shopping at Super Store, second time, first time I said never again but decided it had been years and maybe things had changed. Place was busy which is fine but we were quickly seated and our water brought. Placed our order and then...waited and waited and waited. Now the place was busy, so I could understand that, however, when a table came in 5 minutes after us (table of 2 as were we) and received their food well ahead of us and then another table of 2 came in easily 20 minutes after us and still received their food before us, well someone dropped the ball. We ordered two sandwiches, nothing hard to make. On top of that we were brought the wrong soup which calling warm would be generous. When we finally received our order (I wanted to leave and go to McDonalds) I stated that took long enough and received a meek sorry and never saw the server again, and the look of disappointment when I didnt leave a tip...really? Never ever again will I waste money at this place, the sandwiches were ok but nothing to brag about, basically a flattened piece of chicken on a bun with lettuce. Do yourself a favour, spend your hard earned cash at Plates or Butchers Block, far superior food.

Finally tried Rickys! it was a good experience and Would visit again! The bad: -Didn t enjoy how the coffee tasted and it wasn t hot. Wasn t a fresh pot. -Avocado was on the darker side. Also lacked freshness. The good: -Service was on point. Friendly, timely, and attentive. -Clean environment.

They were all very nice and so helpful.(there was a issue with my friends vax card whitch they helped clear up right away!)And the food was amazing!! Loved the eggs Benedict!!!!!

Just ate here with my parents before heading out on our mothers day adventures. Food was good and came quickly while it was busy. Our Server Tammy was outstanding and so nice.

We really enjoy Rickys updated menu. The chicken tenders are my kids favorite and I enjoy the fish and chips. Also, their coleslaw is very good, not the usual restaurant coleslaw, very tasty. The last visit our server was wonderful!

Just had their Hawaiian burger. Man, that was delicious. Its actually Fat burgers thats a part of Rickies. I would have added a pic, but the burger didnt stand a chance.

Wow....after reading some of the reviews I feel that we went to a different place....but I checked and it was really the same place. To start when we first walked in the waiter was too busy chatting with a table to even acknowledge us then he walked past us as if werent there...the manager came and sat us then just left....after 4-5 mins the waiter came over and asked if we had been served yet. If you are the only waiter dont you think you would know. We put in our order with our requested drinks than sat and waited at least 10 mins when we finally said enough of this kind of so called service we got up to leave at this point the waiter told us that our order has just been put in...I heard of slow but this is crazy...we will not be back ....your worst mistake was getting rid of Tammy.

I had a mushroom Swiss cheeseburger a couple of days ago and it was awesome the only thing I can say is they could give a little more to their salad but perfect burger

Three of us around 5:30pm, not busy, about 15 customers max seated. Two of us ordered fish and chips, other one burger and broccoli cheese soup. Took our drink orders which came ok. 15min later we get told there is no fish left and no broccoli soup. How can it take 15min to tell us they dont have what we want? We decided to leave, charged me $9 for two pops, waited another 10min just to get the bill for the pops. They should have apologized and waived the drinks. Absolutely pathetic service. Will never come back to this place. Been to many Rickys restaurants never been disappointed, this one is the exception. Deserves 0 stars.

So went to eat breakfast at Ricks restaurant in Courtenay... Ordered the Benny... I have eaten here before and it was pretty good... However this time is was awful.. Muffin was soggy... Guess the electricity was expensive too.. My sister ordered a side of hollandaise sauce.. She said it was gross.. So we sent it back. Mine was awful as well but I was hungry.. When we told the waiter it tasted like oil. He apologized and took it away.. Then he come back to explain we are just not used to have REAL hollandaise sauce.. thiers is made from real eggs and oil.. OIL??? Um no hollandaise is made with butter... He then explains you know the cost of food is so high they have to try to keep the prices down and therefore oil... OK. Yes I am foodie... I can make hollandaise sauce from scratch to perfection... If I had to sub butter it would be margarine or I would use a package mix ..Being told how expensive food is (I did notice the prices on the menu thats kind sir..) Yup. If this is the attitude Im eating at home...

Ordered the french onion soup and it tasted like burnt dish water. Barely any onions. Wife ordered stir fry dish and yhe sauce was essentially honey...rice overcooked and veg over done. Nothing made properly or with care. AVOID.

I m not going to Rick s anymore, I ordered my favourite fish and chips and surprised to see the size of the fish was about 1/2 the amount, the chicken noodle soup was dosed with the poultry seasoning and could not eat it. Our bill 56.00 blew me away, I said to the waitress the portions were very small and she said that s the way it has always been,wrong thing to say. Disappointed.

Update: the Manager explained that they are seriously understaffed, and that this was a one-off situation. He offered to send me a gift certificate. All I can say is if you cant produce edible food in the time youre allotting the cooks, maybe explain to people that their food will be 10-15 longer to get. Our order was ready fast, we would have waited to have something enjoyable to eat. If I was rating the kids meal this would be a five star rating, the chicken was good and the fries were hot. However the meals we paid almost $20 each for were a dissapointment. I did not get the burger or the extra egg I paid to have on top of it. Instead they just sent us two of the burgers my husband ordered, and he did not get the type of bun he ordered. My fries were cold immediately after getting home from a five minute drive (again, the KIDS fries were hot sooo...) the burgers were drowning in relish, and the bacon seemed like it has been in a warming drawer for a while. My burger was not fully cooked in the middle.

Brought the wrong drink for my kid then messed up my order, i was 1/2 done before she finally came back to check. Very slow service as well. Food was adaquate but overall not a great experience.

Ordered through door dash. the food I received was cold, and the burger tasted like a mustard bottle ( all I can taste is mustard still ) . this was all minor compared to what happened when I phoned. The lady on the phone told me that they would get a manager to phone me in the morning. when i asked for any supervisor she said they didnt have any. when I asked what I should do with the burger , she said she didnt know, when I explained that I was hungry and expected to eat some time tonight she kept saying someone would phone ( but not tonight) . full disclosure, at this point I was hungry and getting short. The employee would not commit to getting info today. As a final cheery on top, she hung up on me after incorrectly taking my contact information. This place has gone way downhill and can take the nope train to never again.

Even in these times, Rickys always gets our vote. Never have we had a bad meal on our travels to Courtenay. Today proved no different!! An amazing server, (wish I could remember her name) and probably the best Clubhouse sandwich I have ever had!! And the soup!! Potato corn chowder (something like that anyways) that weve never had before, was scrumptious!! If you need a place for a good meal, fast friendly service, then Rickys is the place for you to go!!

As somebody who just spent his first day behind the scenes there is zero complaints about this place as a customer and zero pitfalls and complaints as somebody whos been behind The swinging door great place great staff

Great server, ( thanks Tammy) perfectly done food to my specific requests. This place never disappoints. OTher than the days inn location in Nanaimo Rickies has been the most consistent in quality and service for over 15 years.

Food was good and the server was excellent!

Very slow service. Waited almost 40 minutes for breakfast, even though it wasnt particularly busy (about 1/3 capacity). They either need faster cooks or more cook staff.

I went here with my family including my infant son, we had an amazing time. Great portion sizes for a good price. All of our meals where very good. The waiter was very accommodating for our son, including trying to make him laugh and playing with him. Highly recommend.

If I was able to rate 0 I would, but 1 it is. Our order was two burger meals, a kids ceaser wrap meal, a poutine and side French onion soup. The order was 1 hour and a half, almost 2 hours. To make, the driver made it to our house in 12 minutes. When we got it, the food was hot still, so the driver did fantastic. The food however, was abysmal and I will never order from Rickys again. Both our burgers were a mess when we got them, put of place all over the box. They had no flavor on the meat. It was almost like they forgot to salt and pepper the beef. Or any flavor for that matter. The sauce also had no flavor, and yes my palete is fine I do not have Covid. This food is just a little salty with the flavor of bread and oil. The poutine was soggy fries, a thin layer of Gravy, and four cheese small curds. 4! The French onion soup tasted like burnt onion water, with no salt. It had a thick layer of a gross bread that covered the entire top, and almost half the thickness of the cup. The curly fries for one of the burgers, didnt have curly fry seasoning. It was the tiniest amount of salt and the fries werent curly, just.. slightly curved. The wrap had barely any sauce, and the flavor was just in the Tortilla wrap itself. My son who eats everything, had to add salt and pepper, as well as ceaser to be happy with it. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU WANT GOOD FOOD. Now if you want flavorless cardboard thats overpriced. Its the perfect joint.

Have not been to courtenay location for years. Finally decided to give it another chance yesterday and wow what a change. Food was great and tammy the server was the greatest. I will become a regular again.

Good food, good service. Had breakfast and the service was excellent. Food came within a few minutes and was very good. Coffee refills were offered.

I ordered takeout through skip the dishes, 2 BC bennies and noticed there wasnt an option for stuffed hashbrowns which happen to be my all time favorite. I added in the comments to make the hashbrowns stuffed and I would happily pay the difference. Shortly after placing my order, a skip the dishes representative called me explaining I would need to go with regular hashbrowns as they could not adjust the price. Bummer, but no problem. I agreed & expected normal hashbrowns. To my surprise upon opening the bag the kitchen went above and beyond by making the stuffed hash anyhow!! You guys are amazing. Totally made my week, props to you.

They were very busy and the new server was very nice and seemed organized. What I ordered wasnt on the menu(we all know cooks prefer items are straight forward)& my server had no problem pushing the order through, it was 40 mins. But my coffee was never empty

Although nothing was rotten or moldy it was barely edible and the facilities were not thought out for families.

Stopped for a bite to eat on the way to the airport. Meal was decent, staff were okay.

I have to say the service and food is terrible. Whether they are busy or not, it always takes forever to get your food. Plus, they never get your order right. We are here now, no one here now and it has taken 35mins to get our order which came out wrong. So now waiting even more. Stay away ... Not worth your time or money!

Amazing fried chicken. I got the 6 peice chicken stripes, feeling plain and lazy. I was surprised by amazing tasting chicken stripes. Not soggy, or too crispy. And juicy real chicken. Whatever you are doing. Keep doing it.

Absolute rip off take out. Go eat subway or McDonalds dumpster before you order. Twice now shorted on order and wont fix .just poor food dont do it EVER!!

Great Customer service and great to have the dine in available again. I had fish and chips and it was awesome.Nicole was an awesome, helpful and cheerful server. Will come again to try the rest of the menu.

Sadly 1 star is being nice :( soupy milkshake (like a cold chocolate milk) bits of raw (yes i know some people prefer) meat in my beef dip burnt grilled cheese. Staff is GREAT though

Food is not very good unfortunatly.

Mac&Cheese and Lasagna were scrumptious, and the black current lager was refreshingly different. Enjoyed the meal out thoroughly.

Arrived at 855, 5 minutes before open with my 5 year old. She was branching out from our usual breakfast spot to try something new. A female employee turned the open sign on so we headed to the front door. After 10 minutes in the cold it was now 905 and a table with 3 men sat inside looking at us and carrying on in conversation. We knocked, pulled the door and walked halfway around the building peering in to see what the issue was. At 910 we left to go to our usual place with my child vowing to never return because they made her wait in the cold for nothing I called after to find a shocked staff member but thought management or owner would like to know the neglect their staff showed this morning Will not be trying again as I wouldnt want for made by people like that. Avoid this and go somewhere local that cares

Good food but service was not very good and there was only one other table occupied. Waiter walked by with coffee without offering us a refill but offered the other table . It Felt like we were snubbed not a nice feeling .

One of my breakfast restaurants; regular breakfast menu. Covid distancing and may have masks if you forget yours. They did for my Mom who forgot hers; she has them in her car but she didnt drive this time.
