ENTER THE FALCON Relaxed fine dining in a 1930s house in the Comox Valley, Vancouver Island. Italian-inspired menu using local farm produce. Wine list features the regional wine of Italy as well as curated wine from British Columbia and the Cowichan Valley. Five-seat microbar.
The lovely fruit tree garden provided a beautiful entryway to this special dining experience. Il Falcone is located in what was formerly a residence expertly transformed into a fine dining experience. The food and service was impeccable, especially the local vegetables, house-made pasta and almaretto cookies! Love the decor, too, with vintage photographs and well placed wine bottles featured. Highly recommend if you visit the Comox Valley area!
I came here with a friend last year on my birthday. This is possibly the best restaurant on the Vancouver Island. The food is simple, per Italian tradition, but exceptional! The cocktails were delicious and service was charming and personable, including the owner who made us a special cocktail. I never expected such an excellent experience in a small town; sincere compliments to the chef, the owner and the staff! I shall be back soon!
Outstanding service, delicious food and great cocktails. We had the 3 course and everything was fabulous. The foccacia appy is a must. Great outdoor seating area as well!
First off. Cassidy and James amazing! Visiting from out of town and decided to come with my family and 2 year old nephew, and had one of the best dining experiences. 5 cours tasting menu was exceptional and hit the mark everytime. Cassidy hit the mark on the red wine recommendation, so much that we had to get the entire bottle. And the sparkling wine he brought out was one of the best I've ever had. Thank you again for such a wonderful experience!
Had the BEST experience! I would highly recommend you check out Il Falcone if you haven’t! Me and my boyfriend were kindly greeted at the door and seated for our reservation. The wine/cocktails were so tasty and the food was to die for! You could see that everyone was having such a great time and the vibes were immaculate! I really want to mention the service was exceptional and honestly, the best customer service I’ve ever received. I want to thank Cassidy and the team for the amazing experience - We are thankful to have Il Falcone in the Valley! 100/10 recommend
Solid. Halibut was fantastic. The beans that accompanied them did nothing for me, plus they were undercooked. Pasta was tasty. Dessert was okay. Service was fantastic. Music was good and at the right decibel. Loved the bathroom and that they were playing something entirely different in there; i.e., Benedict Cumberbatch narrating a story. And the place was well decorated and comfortable. Glad I came here for the last meal while visiting this area.
My wife and I had dinner here for our first wedding anniversary last night, and we couldn't of picked a better place. We both did the "Chefs Tasting" along with a wine pairing, and not only was everything exceptional, but the service was amazing, and very personable. I would highly recommend coming here to anyone!
Best dining experience you can have in the Comox Valley. By a long shot. The Chefs tasting menu is what we had any every dish was absolutely fantastic. The service was also impeccable. Cassidy is an absolute gem of a person. He was even able to find a red wine that my girlfriend liked when she has never liked red wines before. I'll definitely be going back.
Awesome experience all around.
Best dinning experience in the Valley.
Probably some of the best food I have had. The bison was incredible. The host very attentive. Incredible find in Comox vallley.
Delicious cocktails! Fantastic pasta! Creative desserts! Cozy atmosphere! Don t miss it!
Theres quite a lot to say about Il Falcone that is outstanding and very little that is not. If youre into excellent food and wine served with care and attention to detail, this is the place for you. Id consider Il Falcone somewhat fusion influenced with some Asian and Canadian touches here and there, but overall Chef is faithful to the principles of Italian cooking: Simplicity, quality ingredients and love of tradition. We dined here the night before the MOMAR race, in an effort to carb up, and carb up we did in style! We began with Pacific Ling Cod croquettes with puttanesca & saffron aioli. The dish was low key but very satisfying, just preparing the palate for the next stage of the feast. Ragu di Carni was next, with tagliatelle and a rich beef ragu that would make nonna blush. For the secondi I enjoyed a vegetarian meal of roast squash and other veg with a salsa rossa (Im not doing this justice, it was excellent but my memory fails me now!) and my friend raved over the flank steak with broccoliini with shishito peppe salsa verde. Hes a foodie and has 20+ years in the business and repeatedly stated what a surprise it was to find this calibre of restaurant in a town the size of a peppercorn. We skipped dessert on the first night to save ourselves for a 6am wakeup and a 9am race that included kayaking, mountain biking and trekking across some 50km. The race was a wild scramble requiring maps and wits for the two of us new to the area. The meal (plus a few gels) held us over and as I progressed I began to consider that perhaps I should have saved Il Falcone for AFTER the race, as a reward. The food was so fine and the libations so generous and perfectly paired that really it would be an injustice to trust our gullets to just any restaurant in Courtney. No, wed have to dine again at Il Falcone, and this time partake of the dessert list and coffees as well. Night two began for me with Carciofi Fritti Giardiniera. These lightly battered and crisply fried tempura artichokes were once again an excellent starter... an appetizer that functions as an appetizer should, just whetting the palate not bombarding it. And Im a huge fan of house-pickled veg, particuarly the tiny would-be watermelons that are cucamelons. Part of my rationale for coming on night two was to confirm that this establishment wasnt just lucky on night one, that there was depth and breadth to the menu. And so I cheered the pasta dish, a bloody scrumptious chicken and mortadella balanzoni -- hand crafted -- with a brown butter sauce, sage leaf, pistachios and quince. It was well balanced and begged to be savoured, begged to have its plate licked, though I did not. Rather I swept that plate clean with the lovely house focaccia. The main on night two did not disappoint either Ling cod in a corn and farro stufato with chantelle mushrooms in a miso butter with olives and cherry tomatoes. The fish was perfectly seared and baked, the juices of the dish just went on for miles satisfying and singing the praises of the cod. There was harmony here. This is fine dining as it should be. I could go on about this place. And one should! Cassidy, part owner is a champion of great, reasonably priced wines, and shares his joy and knowledge like a pied piper, and we danced along with him from glass to glass (no not excessively, merely merrily). The desserts and espresso topped off the night with as much success as the rest of the meal. As we paid the bill, our legs stiff from the running and biking, backs sore from the kayaking and biking and our bellies revelling with gratitude, I wondered why it is that Langley, BC, my home town, has such a dearth of good food like this. What has Courtney done to deserve such accolades, such rich rewards? Im jealous and considering a move.
One of the best restaurants Ive ever been to. We moved to Courtenay recently & I never thought wed find restaurants here that rival top restaurants in big cities, but the food & cocktails were both outstanding. Great service & a lovely cosy atmosphere too. We will definitely be back.
Amazing food and service, highly recommend!
A Culinary Gem in Courtenay! Il Falcone Restaurant offers an intimate Italian dining experience with: - Charming ambiance - Knowledgeable and attentive staff - Outstanding dishes like the Calamari, Carpaccio, Tagliatelle Bolognese, etc. - Local seasonal ingredients - Impressive wine selection Great experience overall. A must-visit for Italian cuisine lovers. Buon appetito!
Was really excited to try this place! Fabulous cocktails, great wine program. Very knowledgeable & welcoming staff. Dishes are well thought out & tasty. Excited to come back some time!
Thank you for the warm welcome and the anniversary card!
Wonderful service enjoying a 5 course pairing! IL Falcone is a gem in the Comox Valley and always an exciting adventure in experiencing their fine art.
Very nice place for Italian style food.
So so great. Everything.
Great food, great service, definitely recommend trying!
I was excited to try Il Falcone, but my experience attempting to make a reservation was disappointing. After multiple failed attempts to book online due to the site freezing, I decided to call the restaurant directly. The person who answered the phone greeted me with a singsong tone and immediately dismissed my concerns, stating, I dont know what to tell you, its working for me, and implying that the restaurant was just too popular to have availability. Not only did I feel talked down to, but the staff member also failed to ask basic questions like my party size, date and time I was trying to book for or how he could assist me at all. Instead, he insisted that I try booking on my phone. This struck me as poor customer service and a bad business practice. While I understand that some restaurants operate primarily online, it s frustrating to be condescended to when the booking system they chose isn t functioning correctly. It also made me wonder how they accommodate people who aren t tech-savvy or who prefer to call in a reservation. Many of my family members don t use smartphones or computers, and if they encountered a similar issue, they would rely on calling. In the end, it s not just about whether or not I could secure a reservation its about being treated respectfully and getting help when needed. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.
By far my favourite spot on the island. Cass and his team knock it out of the park. Friendly service and amazing food. best little garden out front. If you are in The Valley its a must go
Big City Fine Dining meets Small Town Friendly Casual. Our party of four enjoyed a delightful dining experience on the summer patio, shaded by mature fruit trees and surrounded by a water feature and small gardens that supply many of fresh ingredients featured in the authentic Italian menu of Il Falcone. From the beautifully custom-crafted cocktails through the sweet amuse bouches to the delicious made-from-scratch appetizers and entrees, extensive Italy-centric wine list and killer house-made plum sorbet dessert, Cassidy, James and the rest of the staff delivered an outstanding meal in a welcoming and fun ambiance. They handled a few special requests with that easy grace that exemplifies a team dedicated to their guests pleasure of the table and their own obvious pleasure in their work. The price was in line with other local high-end restaurants, but with an experience of individualized focus of attention that is often missing in the larger venues. We appreciated the day of phone call confirming our reservation and inquiry into any special occasions or dining needs they might anticipate prior to our arrival. In fact, given the intimacy of Il Falcone s establishment and their commitment to high quality, fresh, and in-season ingredients, and the business impact of no-show reservations, I wouldn t be surprised if in future they implement the common big city practice of credit-card held reservations. If it means Il Falcone can continue to bring the delights of authentic Italian cuisine to the Comox Valley, I m in!
Words won t do the experience justice. By far the best place I ve eaten at in the valley in YEARS!! Just mad this is the first time I ve gone. Now I have somewhere to go and actually enjoy dinner
If I could give our visit more stars I would. By far the best meal I ve had in my life. Service is impeccable, food is incredible, and it felt cozy. They even closed the kitchen later for us as we came in right at 8! I m celiac, and they accommodated my needs perfectly. My husband had the tortellini, and said it was 10/10. I will be a regular for sure!! Vegetarian options: There was a vegan eggplant dish that was delicious! Dietary restrictions: I m celiac and they accommodated it wonderfully! Even put on a new pot of water for my pasta :)
Dang! I was expecting so much more from this place and I m sad to be writing this review. The Ling cod tortellini was a letdown, with a small portion size and a taste that failed to leave an impression. However, the beef carpaccio was a true gem, boasting impeccable flavors and presentation that left me thoroughly impressed. The spaghetti, while decent, failed to offer anything particularly memorable, and the short rib seemed to lack that extra touch to make it truly special. On the bright side, the service throughout the meal was amazing, adding a positive note to an otherwise underwhelming culinary journey. The funky decor, especially in the bathrooms, added a unique touch to the ambiance, making it a memorable aspect of the overall experience. Perhaps it was just an off night for the kitchen, but unfortunately, the inconsistency overshadowed what could have been a more enjoyable dining experience.
We absolutely love this place! The atmosphere, the food and the wine is all spectacular! The entire meal is a dining adventure!! The staff is amazing and super knowledgeable and funny!!!
Amazing service and the staff and owner were so friendly.
I cant believe it took me so long to try this restaurant. I have tried every good restaurant on the north island. My wife and I dont get the chance to go out very often so when we do I want to be impressed. Having grown up with a brother who is a very talented red seal chef Im not impressed very easily. Last night at the suggestion of my awesome wife we tried II Falcone for my birthday. It was the best dining experience in a restaurant on Vancouver island that we have had. The service was excellent very professional and friendly, the food was of the highest quality available. My wife is a vegetarian and was able to have an excellent 3 course meal that she loved. I am in recovery and was able to order an amazing alcohol free mocktail. Pricing is what should be expected for this level of experience this is NOT an Arbys or anything of the sort.
Very nice Italian restaurant, we enjoyed our yummy dinner with some lovely wine
Amazing high quality food and wonderful friendly service. I absolutely recommend the Big Night Out Dinner for 2 for a date night.
Treat yourself! We really enjoyed our last meal and the cocktails and wine were fab. Definitely one of the three go-tos in the valley for fine dining.
We were drawn to try out Il Falcone because of their Winter Promotion menu, and we will 100% be back! The pasta was fabulous (I had duck ravioli and my husband had the tagliatelle). The service was top-tier (attentive but never rushed us). My only regret was not getting an extra order of the beef carpaccio starter all to myself. We are lucky to have Il Falcone in the Comox Valley, and can t wait to go back.
Beautiful food and service, music bit loud and rocky...
Amazing; great atmosphere, service, and food. Expensive but worth the price for a treat.
Nice venue but lacking value. Service was rushed and each plate had an issue. Good but far from outstanding.
Clearly the best restaurant in the valley. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar and a coward. Food : 5/5
Great food and friendly personable staff. Would recommend!
Ive heard so many great things about the food. Well, let me tell you. I was impressed by the level of care and thought that went into each dish. I went on a special night for a friends vow renewal, amazing food. Thank you so much. Cant wait to go back.
Excellent service and delicious food.
We went to Il Facone to celebrate a very special birthday and it was wonderful. We had two food sensitivities in our group, gluten and tomato (yes, you read that correctly, we did indeed go to an italian restaurant with gluten and tomato sensitivities!) and we chose Alla Famiglia which is chefs choice served family style. They accommodated our needs with dishes that were full of flavours you wont find elsewhere in the valley. The staff took such great care of us and the vibe was fun! Definitely an experience we look forward to repeating.
Excellent quality food and wine with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great for special occasions and date nights (or just because)
This place is a gem. Super cute and interesting inside, and a beautiful fig garden outside. The food was all excellent - thoughtful, well presented and delicious! The real highlight was the owner, Kassidy. His knowledge of Italy and of wine is mindblowing! He really made the experience. Will definitely be going back again and again!
The best Italian food. Nay, the best dining experience on Vancouver Island in my experience. If you come with an understanding of food and drink you will be appreciated by the staff and owner and will leave happy.
It was alright, but I expected more honestly. Especially at those prices. Everything was okay, and the service was wonderful, and the dinner had some highlights for sure. The best thing by far was the tagliatelle and bolognese. They nailed it. Perfectly cooked pasta and the sauce was spot on. And the roasted tomato soup was well done. But there were some rather large oversights and faults to our dinner. The mushroom risotto was overcooked. Literally stuck to the bowl and wouldnt even slide when I tipped it, and the rice was mushy. I expected an Italian restaurant to make excellent risotto and this was far from anything worth the money. The biggest disappointment was the fish of the day main course, which was an assortment of seafood. The Humboldt squid was great and cooked lovely. But the scallops were well overcooked, to the point they were rubbery. The baby carrots were also overcooked and the local kale was over salted. But the worst (and most unforgivable thing) was they used a butane torch to sear the tuna. It shows a lack of know-how and laziness. I paid $40 for that. Use a pan. Use something that doesnt make the tuna smell like it was soaked in diesel. There literally is no excuse for that. I dont expect perfection. But for the amount they charge I do expect a little more care and the know-how to execute a dish properly. The dinner was tasty though and the flavours were there, but it just needed a fair bit more attention to the finer details. I might go back and give them a second chance.
As always, an excellent dining experience. Attention to detail is unmatched. Our absolute favorite date night spot. Food 10/10. Staff 10/10. Ambience 10/10.
Good food, excellent service.
We went there with my wife for our anniversary, it was a great experience, from the cozy dining room to the awesome service. The food was delicious, it was hard to choose from the menu as everything looked good so I ended up picking the two daily items (and was not disappointed!). We will definitely come back!
Youre not missing an experience of food but if youre lucky and the moon just strikes right you will be in for a show. Take a seat and watch the theatricals take place and a guarantee included in the price! That high-strung manipulator who is feeding you information, and you digest at his pace.. you might find yourself bamboozled. Its peak between 5 and 10 p.m. I highly suggest only if you like to avoid your TV and still crave a controlling what to do atmosphere at a very overrated price... then you have found your domain. I wish for you to have a better service and respect or just the general knowing before rudely approaching guests with false information and a lack of kindness. After all I suppose ot is a reflection of just you.
Hip food and wine trip to Italy makes this special occasion restaurant a real standout in the valley. We dined on a stormy winter night but the warm ambiance, great playlist and skilled staff, serving inspired food and drink made the trip out worth it.
What a great experience. Amazing service and delicious food. We will be back for sure
Full Review Below. Amazing food and phenomenal service. Unfortunately for my main course I only counted 9 pieces of pasta in my bowl, don t arrive hungry and expect to leave full. I ordered the Tortelli di patate del Mugello. Review below. Taste/Flavour - 9.5/10 Service - 9/10 Knowledge - 9/10 Wine Selection - 8/10 Atmosphere - 7.5/10 Cocktails - 6.5/10 Price - 6/10 Seating/Comfort - 5/10 Portion Size - 3.5/10 Overall score - 7/10 or 3/5 Good.
Had a great anniversary here with my girlfriend Wine recommendation was amazing
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Cozy atmosphere. Amazing food. The best wines.
This is the best restaurant there is. Period. Nothing else to say. The Bistecca alla Fiorentina is the best steak you can get anywhere.
Top Notch!!
Cassidy and his team are second to none in the valley! If you are looking for amazing atmosphere, unbelievable food and even better service, I highly recommend you checking them out! My wife and I love going for dinners and this is by far our favorite spot in the valley! Thanks for always bringing it Cass!
Vibes for days, from the second we walked in Cas and crew delivered our favourite dining experience this side of prairies. Insanely clever wine pairings led culinary perfection, shockingly intent-ful hospitality, baby minding and of course the Negronis.
Incredible food and atmosphere. I was extremely impressed. Best dining experience Ive had. 10/10 will be back.
It was one of the best restaurant experiences Ive had in a long time. Service was excellent, food was perfect and delicious, and our sommelier/bartender made top-notch drinks. Will definitely be returning in the future.
Ive been there several times since moving to the Comox Valley a few years ago and it is always exceptional. Fantastic specials, creative food and the best service Ive had on the island (and some of the best period).
Amazing World Class Grub!
This is 100% the highlight of our trip to Vancouver Island - quite simply the best food and service we have had here. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, in portions which werent totally overwhelming, as we have found elsewhere. It was warm enough for us to enjoy the a lovely courtyard setting, with fig trees overhead. Service was friendly, efficient & unobtrusive. Cassidy - the sommelier - looked after us so well, explaining the source of the wines & liqueurs, listening & engaging in conversation but without lingering too long. When we explained the reason for our trip - an anniversary holiday - a signed card from all the staff appeared, without ceremony, which brought me to tears. A very special place. Highly recommended.
Food was good and the owner is really passionate about it all. He was able to recommend a great wine for us, and the food pairings.
We had the chefs tasting menu with wine pairing and it was absolutely delicious. The food, the service and the wine selection, everything was perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Cassidys Dessert Drama: A $200 Per Person Show Buckle up for an adventure at Il Falcone. We had the $165 per person tasting menu with pairings, and everything was delicious, going great until we met the dessert course. This time, it was Cassidy, our server, who took center stage. When the final course was placed in front of us, looked a bit like a 5 year olds leftovers. Unfortunately it also tasted the same way when our server asked how is it? !we ventured, Well, not as into this one, it tastes a bit like, uh, stale jelly sandwiches. Cassidys reaction was a mix of shock, disbelief, and a touch of personal offense. Well I ve been serving this for two weeks and you are the first people not to like it he nearly yelled at us, as if we had just insulted a dear friend. These are my very own cherries! like they were his life s work. Cassidy then launched into an impassioned defense of his beloved cherries; I half-expected him to recite a sonnet in their honor. In the end, clearly devastated by our critique, he huffed away, taking our stale jelly sandwich for the fridge, possibly for for the next customer. So, if youre ever in the mood for a dining experience with a side of unexpected drama, Il falcone with Cassidy as your server is the place to be. Just remember to appreciate the cherries!!!
Great food, chefs selection. A little expensive but worthit
We love Il Falcone! Not only is it one of the few elevated dining experiences available in Comox Valley but at the same time its unique, and far superior to many restaurants in Vancouver. Its a favourite for us when were entertaining visitors. The menu and cocktails are modern and thoughtful with new ideas and great takes on the classics, always refreshed and have a variety of options for every Italian lovers palate. With a west-coast flair. The wine list is fun as well. The staff and management take such a high level of care and attention to every patrons experience and really work hard to adapt to and make it a special night for everyone. All the little touches and decor make it a one-of-a-kind place. Definitely recommended as a highly enjoyable way to spend your time and money in our little town.
Unbelievable experience. The nicest meal Ive had in many years. The vibe of the restaurant, the highly knowledgeable and courteous service, and of course, the unreal food made for an amazing experience. I cant wait to take my fiancée here someday, very romantic feeling establishment. Felt like eating out in Italy!
Amazing atmosphere, good food and service! Perfect balance of fine and casual. Cocktails on point! Good humour and vibe . New favourite
Impressed with the quality of service and attention to details in this wonderful little restaurant! Our tastebuds were delighted and we look forward to our next visit! If you are foodies .you will be pleasantly surprised.
Fantastic meal and service. We met the owner, who was lovely, engaging and explained the rationale behind the menu. The food was delicious, the service was efficient and knowledgeable. It felt very personalized and thoughtful and the meals were perfect. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for the quality of food, the service and the overall experience. 10/10
We had a terrible experience at this restaurant. My husband and I live in Italy and were visiting Canadian friends who suggesting having dinner at this restaurant. I ordered the kale salad which came barely dressed and quite rough, so I asked for some olive oil to soften it up. The waiter, who I believed was a manager of some sort, stopped and said incredulously, loudly: Olive oil??! You want olive oil on your salad?!!! He then started muttering about how this kale was picked that day, how it was fresh, shouldnt need oil etc. He was utterly rude and if it wasnt for the fact we were with our good friends and didnt want to ruin our evening we would have walked out there and then. I would have expected this sort of reaction if I had asked for ketchup or something else outrageous. But olive oil in an Italian restaurant, is a completely normal request. In Italy every restaurant offers it standard on every table. The bill came to around $350 for 4 and I wish we had gone somewhere else to eat.
My wife and I were treated by our kids, to the New Years Eve special dinner at Il Falcone. We are long time residents of the Comox Valley, and while this was our first visit, but it will not be our last! The food was delicious and the service was personable. The owner and staff have a way of making everyone feel special, and every item (food or drink) is served with an engaging background story.
Went for a birthday the food wasnt plated, waitress was rude and spilled olive oil down the back of granddaughter didnt even offer a discount or nothing. Not even an apology. Prime rib was nothing to write home about dessert was a cupcake and they charged $160.00 a plate not counting the wine which was $30 a glass not a bottle. Totally not happy and we even phoned later to complain and still no satisfaction. Making sure to tell as many people as possible. Very expensive for nothing.
Nice dinner but was taken by surprise when we got the bill and the 2 non-alcoholic small cocktails the chef offered to make for my daughter came to $27 ! As much as one would like to support local businesses you can t do that to your patrons. Unfortunately won t be back.
What an incredible restaurant! Every last thing in this special spot is well thought out, from the decor to excellent cocktail program. The service was impeccable and it is very clear that the staff go above and beyond to make everyone feel special here. Each dish was thoughtfully created and perfectly seasoned. What a treat for the Comox Valley to have a restaurant of this caliber! I cannot wait to dine here again when I am back to visit!
Our table all had a wonderful experience at this upbeat unique Italian restaurant. The cuisine and service where both amazing, very personable and attentive staff . Even visiting the ladies room was a special touch hearing the old Casa Nova tapes. Il Facone has a very friendly cozy inviting environment and definitely a must visit, it has its own unique Italian funk to it. I can t wait to go back and visit, especially in the summer and have a some of their amazing cocktails in the patio :)) .
Something New. Small town living has many places with a set menu and maybe a weekly special, this is nice but it lacks creativity. Cooking here is an art and it pleases my senses by combining, the look, the taste, the smell, the texture. I love being inspired to cook and the food and people here do that. The staff here are warm and inviting, and I enjoyed every minute and will brag about this meal and will try to mimic these dishes in my home. Thank You Cassidy and crew for a wonderful night.
Its like a trip to Florence in our own town <3
So good! Love the new menu!
We came here for my partners birthday dinner on Feb 18th. On the whole the dining experience was good- good wines and food and pretty good service. However, I am very disappointed to say that the seafood stew they served gave me food poisoning. I am sure of this because this is the only meal in the last week which my partner and I did not share. When you spend almost 300 dollars on a meal you dont expect to get sick!
Most amazing time out I ve had in a very long time! Server was impeccable, from his wine knowledge to his service. Thoroughly wowed by Cassidy. The food was exceptional and exactly what you would expect based on the cost. Overall a wonderful evening and highly recommended to all.
Visiting from the Yukon and had a wonderful time. Cassidy had excellent knowledge of wine and a great disposition on casual fine dining. Friendly bussers and kitchen staff. Loved the little details. Great for an intimate dinner or a place to gather with friends. Welcoming staff and wonderful food. Not a cheap place however nothing good ever is. Selection of products are top notch. Thank you!
What a gem. This is the restaurant that I hoped I d find in the Comox Valley. Il Falcone oozes originality, class and authenticity with a fun, brasserie vibe. The service is cool and breezy with a good sense of humour but these people know their stuff. The food took me straight back to Rome; fantastic duck ravioli, risotto and the best steak fiorentino I ve had outside of Florence. Steak so often disappoints in restaurants, not here. It s locally sourced and there s plenty of it. The wine list, like the menu, is the perfect size with a great range of different styles, old and new. All explained with gusto but no pretence. The interior is modern and sophisticated with a simple elegance and rustic touches, really nicely done with quirk and edge but still sympathetic to the character of the heritage building and the lovely, central Courtenay corner spot it occupies.Gutted I left my doggy bag there but I cannot wait to return.
Food was excellent ,service great , wine recommendation spot on .Been here many times and will be back many times ;one SMALL complaint music was a little too loud , but will not stop us returning.
Lovely restaurant, great food, excellent staff and perfect ambiance in the dining room. A new favourite!
Il Falcone is a labour of love, and it shows. They are passionate, talented, and dedicated to giving the best to their guests. I cant recommend this place enough.
Fun family style meal with colleagues. Great service.
Great place. Excelent food and service. Great cocktails and wine as well. We will be back for sure!
Finally made it to this little gem tonight . Regardless of the weather we braved the beautiful patio with the blankets they provided . Server was lovely and explained the menu to us wonderfully . The hostess was adorable and prompt I wanted to take her home with me ! Food was amazing and the flavours out of this world! Because it was so busy the food took a little while but worth every minute of the wait ! The owner / bartender is a bloody legend ! Noticed the food was taking a bit and brought us free glasses of wine that tasted like liquid gold ! 100% recommend this wonderful establishment for both the food and service ! Can t wait to come back and try the chefs choice menu! Great job guys!
Possibly the finest Italian I ll taste in this beautiful province. Local ingredients and most genuine service combined with truly artistic presentations made for a memorable night. We had the chefs taster menu and it was worth the investment to mark an important night for my partner and I. Grazie per averlo reso memorabile!
Im told the tables are usually booked weeks in advance by local patrons. So, I guess we were lucky to be able to secure a table at the last minute. The pace of the service is geared towards the tasting menu with different wine parings. Ordering a two-course dinner and too exhausted for wine meant that we had to wait quite a while in between the two courses. My seat was right by the passage way, so my brand new Arcteryx jacket was infused with the smell of kitchen deep frying which was an unpleasant take-home. Overall, we enjoyed Salumi board, and our main courses. I was able to replace the carbs with vegetables which was nice. We did not have dessert because our second course arrive at closing time.
We are Calgarians and went to Il Falcone for our anniversary dinner while on the island for the Second time. It was an amazing meal. Chefs tasting menu was excellent; well balanced with perfect portion sizes. Paired wines were outstanding and complimented the dishes very well. The service was very good. Everyone was kind and attentive. The owner or manager/ somolier was engaging and descriptive when describing the wines. Overall vibe was relaxed and comfortable, in a garden oasis. Thank you for an excellent experience again. We will be back.
With a wedding party of ten we weren t sure where we could eat on a Sunday but The wonderful people at ilfalcone saved Ian and Tavis dinner! They served four courses and were VERY accommodating to come in on their day off and serve us!
Stop scrolling and make a reservation already! Last week, our reception dinner venue fell through near last minute for our wedding. We called Il Falcone and they opened the restaurant for our reception! The whole team there was extremely welcoming and professional. Best anywhere! The wine list is top tier, food is simply outstanding and the atmosphere made us feel so special on our day! Thank you so much Il Falcone!!!!!
Huge rave to il Falcone. I cannot thank Cassidy ,Sian, and the team enough. On Thursday I got an unfortunate call that the restaurant we were going to for our wedding dinner was having to close for 5 days. In a panic I called il falcone to see if they could take us. Not knowing they were closed on Sundays. Within the hour of calling Cassidy called me back and said they could make it happen. Not only was this the kindest thing anyone has ever done for me. But the service and food is the best we ve ever had anywhere. I highly recommend checking them out. I know I will be going back as often as I can.
We ended up having my best friends wedding dinner here due to a late change of plans and Il Falcone accommodated by opening for us on a Sunday. This was already above and beyond expectations. But then the food, presentation and service was absolutely incredible! They saved the evening and made a huge impression on everyone in attendance. We will never forget their generosity and fine dining experience.
Id highly recommend Il Falcone. The food is absolutely to die for, the service is incredible, and the staff are just incredibly nice genuine people. Also, there is a fun little surprise in their bathrooms... youll know when you get there! 11/10.
Food, Service, drinks.....you name it, it was Amazing!!!!
What a gorgeous patio, amazing food and fantastic staff. Just delightful
I had the pleasure to eat at IlFalcone. The service was outstanding, they went out of their way to accommodate us. Marvellous staff, super welcoming, well knowledgeable and amazing food. Well worth it!
Incredible experience. The food was fresh, delicious and memorable. The staff were all welcoming and so friendly! We will come back many times. I hope they can get more staff to house more people because this restaurant is definitely top of the list. Thank you for the romantic experiences and wonderful food!
Amazing food. Delightful drinks. And lovely service. A definite place to checkout for some delicious locally sourced dishes.
Not only is the food absolutely impeccable, but the ambiance/service was beyond expectations. Cassidy s wine knowledge demands sommelier recognition. Will definitely return. A highlight in the Comox Valley.
Amazing food prepared lovingly. The staff were friendly and greeted us by name. The owner came to our table with a nice aperitif from a local distillery.
Incredible all around. The best dining experience on the island. 10!
Great service, great food, and awesome wine pairing.
Such incredible food worth absolutely fantastic service!
Top restaurant in the Comox Valley - hands down. Dishes are fresh, creative, and always delicious. I highly recommend this place! Staff are quirky, friendly, and fun.
Absolutely delightful .. service impeccable, food magnificent, cocktails fabulous. Ate here 3 nights in a row during my stay...that good . I cant wait to go back !
Unfortunately we got a really bad vibe from the hostess in this restaurant. We walked in and the tables were nicely separated. There were plenty of empty tables. We waited a while before anyone greeted us and once she did she pondered over her reservation list and then told us she couldnt fit us in. We just felt a weird vibe kind of like when someone walks into a place and they arent welcome. The restaurant was so empty I literally didnt believe her. I dont know if it was because we werent dressed fancy enough?
Amazing food, fantastic drinks, atmosphere and service is top class.
Great experience!
Best restaurant on the North Island. Fresh, in season, homemade delights. Patio dining on a summer evening with the figs, cherries and kiwis surrounding you is an experience rivaling some of the best Ive had in Europe. Wine list is top notch. The Falcon is a must go
Top quality in every way.
Good homemade food, but heavily overpriced as if it was a fine-dining restaurant in Vancouver downtown. I also find it inappropriate to play an audiobook of adventures of Casanova in the washroom - my wife was quite confused.
We have been to this restaurant twice. Loved it so much the first time, I pretty much booked a vacation to the island around dinner here. Unfortunately, it really let us down on the second try. Two points that can be improved upon: 1. Don t ask a table 3x within 10 mins of them sitting if they are ready to order mains when their heads are down reading their menus. - we clearly had our heads down reading our open menus and were asked multiple times if we were ready to order. It was strange and left a bit of a bad vibe with us for the rest of our night. 2. You cannot call a dish stuffed mushrooms when it is in fact 6 button mushrooms the size of a finger nail baked down in way too much cream cheese. - we had to literally search for the mushrooms, this makes zero sense when the dish is called stuffed mushrooms
Showed up late and staff was nothing but courteous. Ordered 3 course option and each dish was outstanding. The fig special appetizer with figs from their trees was especially great. Will be back.
Lets start by the service and the creativity is great, the menu options also allow you to try different plates and and the amount served is fine. But three things that didn t allow me to plenty enjoy the dinner. 1. Was offered an exclusive, weird and hard to find and expensive wine by the glass, and the bottle was never presented. I was expecting at least that small detail. 2. The beef, chewy and hard to eat. Maybe the cur wasn t the best. 3. Flies all the time around the table, Hope next time they pay attention to those small details,
Food and staff are both amazing. What a wonderful culinary experience.
This is the best restaraunt ever you definitley should go!!!!
Incredible food, ambience and service!
What an amazing evening with amazing people. I had the good fortune to be taken out to dinner to this wonderful restaurant. The entire evening was worth the visit. Drinks, food, staff all were wonderful. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Called in for take out as I m visiting from Vancouver and I literally cannot eat in the restaurant with mandates and health conditions. They were so rude! Disgusting. Highly recommend skipping this place. Claimed they were too high end for take out. I ensured them I worked at high end restaurants that had similar policies, and they amended for the pandemic. They told me well I can go eat there! Thanks for nothing Cassidy!
Showed up in a snowstorm to meet some friends that live in Comox and had dinner at Il Falcone. We were are from Vancouver and didnt have any real expectations. However, this restaurant place blew our mind. Fantastic. The service was remarkable. The guy serving the wine (I think the owner) should do stand up comedy. He was hysterical, but not overbearing. The place was very quaint, but nice touches. And, the food was delicious. One of the best meals Ive had. And, if you check my weight, Ive had a lot of meals.
The owners are lovely but overall the meal was average. The appetizer was just okay. I make a way better seafood risotto (like exponentially better). The wine was over-priced and the dessert was tiresomely complicated. I know fussy food is in fashion but I found all the high reviews misleading to say the least.

Always enjoy our dinners here. Incredible staff, cozy atmosphere, incredible food.
Fantastic food and impeccable service
One of the best restaurants in the Comox Valley! Amazing Italian of the best quality. Fantastic knowledgeable staff. Warm & cozy and a great wine list to boot! Go.. you wont be disappointed!
Great wine and ingredient s fresh and local
Every experience I ve had here is phenomenal. The chefs creativity is nothing shy of brilliant. The servers are nothing short of professional, welcoming, and memorable. The ambiance is intimate, and warm. I could not recommend Il Falcone highly enough. And amazing wine list and cocktails. The care they pour into every detail is so evident. Enjoy!
Went here for The Comox Valley Dine Around event. It was fantastic, staff was super friendly and nice. Food was also fantastic. Once the event is over will definitely be going back here to check out there regular menu.
Undoubtedly the best dining experience in 5 years in the Comox Valley. The salad was an exquisite blend of textures and tastes. The short rib main, melt in the mouth. The shrimp main was accompanied by a risotto, creamy with body, not the usual congee mush. Both desserts were unique, particularly the crema di limone. Service was enpointe. Thank you to the kitchen in particular.
Were to start. Simply amazing. best fine dining in the comox valley hands down. The chef is amazing, the staff are amazing. The atmosphere is great. The food is raw fresh ingredients you cant order any where else. And best of all they are a local family establishment always wanting to do the best for their guests. The pricing is fair considering todays economy. If you want a lovely night out with great food and wine. Just come here.
Lovely patio, good service, and the chefs tasting menu was excellent.
Our first meal out in months. delicious food - excellent service. A memorable evening in their lovely patio. Church bells rang at 7. We will be back.
Excellent restaurant!! Went with a group of 4 for a friends birthday. All of our dishes were on point and the owner went to extra lengths to make it extra special for her! 5 stars for food, service and over all experience. Would HIGHLY recommend.
Q: What do I love about Il Falcone? A: Everything. Full stop.
My girlfriend and I shared a nice bottle of Italian red and each had a different pasta. I was extremely underwhelmed with my small plate of pasta, though my other half did enjoy hers. I was expecting a lot better for my money. Update: I have since been back and had a much better experience.
We always have a wonderful time here! Cozy, lovely place with DELICIOUS food and excellent and service
Best table in the Comox Valley. Cant wait to go back.
So many people had recommended Il Falcone to us that when we had a special occasion this was the place we wanted to go and the meal was everything we could have hoped for. Due to Covid 19 the restaurant posted clear information about how the menu and pricing would work as well as the safety measures in place. Our server gave great descriptions of the offerings plus specials making it hard to make our selections from all the amazing choices. Our appetizers were fantastic; I enjoyed a mussel and prawn bisque and my husband had prosciutto wrapped figs (from the tree we were eating besides) with greens. My main course was lobster stuffed ravioli and my husband had the seafood risotto and both were so rich and delicious we devoured every mouthful. We opted to indulge in dessert: Baileys tartufo and caramel + toffee topped pana cotta and they were the best desserts we have had in years! The service was friendly and we felt appreciated and pampered. It is expensive to eat here so for us it will be a place we only come for very special meals but we would rather eat out less frequently and save so we can indulge occasionally at Il Falcone where we had a really memorable truly delicious meal!
The Chefs table meal is second to none. Prepare for decadence and flavor.
It just couldnt get any better than this.
Was Awesome
I had the pleasure to enjoy a very good quality of food (bring me back memory of Italy), the preparation was excellent, the staff very knowledgeable and courteous. I definitely will return on my next trip to Comox
Great restaurant all around! Service was spot on and food was amazing!! Found our date night spot. Good job.
I was slightly apprehensive about going to what I thought could possibly be a snobby place. These guys are a total joy. I finally understood hipster culture after dining here. Amazing food. I will always remember this as the best ravioli of my life. The service was off the charts
Best fine dining in the Comox Valley.
I enjoyed my time here and The chefs plate experience was fantastic.
First time at this Restaurant.service was excellent.as was the food .many choices.nice atmosphere.
Both times Ive been Ive been blown away. Always a treat.
Food is always amazing!
First time trying Il Falcone as part of the Comox Valley Dine Around Menu. Lovely food, and a great wine selection of almost exclusively Italian wines. They were sticking to their speciality menus during the festival, so their regular menu was not available. Will have to come back!
Outstanding food. Great wine list at a very good price point. Worth the trip from Vancouver!
We had veal, pasta, salads + desserts and it was all excellent. Well rounded meal. For sure the best restaurant in Courtenay.
always delicious
We really enjoyed our time at this charming restaurant. There were four of us. Everyone had appetizers, a main course, and a desert. Absolutely everything was fantastic, including some amazing cocktails. My compliments to the chef for both creativity and execution. Our only disappointment was that two of us really wanted to try the chefs fixed tasting menu but were not able to due to the chefs rules that everyone at the table must order it. Two of the people in our party were worried that it would be too much food for them. Sad for us, because Im certain it would have been fantastic. Looking forward to going back there next time we are in the region!
We were celebrating a visit from a very good friend of my husband s. He was paying and asked us to choose a nice restaurant. We chose Il Falcone. We ve just arrived home after a 3 hour dinner and each of us agree it was the best meal any of us have ever had. It happened to be the 1st night of the BC Seafood Festival and the chef had put together a 5 course dinner that started with Salt Spring Island mussel bisque which had a mediterranean/curry flavour, then a tuna salad where the tuna was sous vide for hours and was so delicious we really couldn t get over it. Striped shrimp ravioli was the next course and then filet of sole with asparagus, spinach ravioli, snow peas and a roasted tomato and the finisher was a panna cotta with caramel and oyster bay sea salt. Cassidy was our server and he was one of the best waiters we d ever had and he chose 2 beautiful Chardonnay s to go with our meal and they couldn t have been better. Can you tell we would give this restaurant 10 out of 5 stars. Fabulous ambience, people and food!
The scrumtious Italian food in this beautiful, intimate restaurant is anything but ordinary from start to finish. What a treat for the valley. The staff were fabulous, the use of local products throughout the menu is a delightful and meaningful touch and the patio, which is surrounded by gardens, is the best place to enjoy it all. Buon Appetito!
Food is amazing and the service is exceptional. If I could afford it, Id eat here all the time. Already looking forward to the next special occasion that will bring me back!
We had an amazing meal here. The chefs tasting menu was the perfect way to experience a variety of dishes. The flavours and components of everything was obviously very well thought out, and just so delicious. We will be back as soon as were in town again!
Wonderful experience. Well taken care of. Excellent, knowledgeable table maintenance. Dinner was exquisite. Cant wait to go back and try other dishes.
AWESOME. Every. Single. Time. Wonderfully delicious food and superb service.
We had a group of 24 people descend upon Il Falcone and they handled us with no trouble at all. The food was great, wine picks were delicious, and the service was prompt and friendly. I would repeat for sure!
Best restaurant in the valley!!! Hands down... Last night a negroni saved my life.
Amazing place to have dinner with friends!
Wonderful!
This is my second visit to Il Falcone. The staff guide you through an amazing selection of foods and drinks. Take their recommendationations! You will not be disappointed.
Delicious. Pricey, but awesome for special occasion or special gift.
Amazing food and great service. Worth every peny! Definitely new favorite restaurant in town.
Hi everything ok
Excellent restaurant! World class.
Tonight was the second time I eat there, the first time I hade and the Lamb and tonight the Oso Buco.
Amazing. Seamless, flawless yet casual service. The gazpacho tasted like summer. perfectly al dente pasta with exquisitely cooked prawns and just enough spice. The lemon dessert was just right for a hot summer evening. This is not a red sauce chain but local ,seasonal fine dining.
Amazing food. We had the tasting menu and I can highly recommend it. They have excellent flavor combinations and everything is cooked perfectly. They also include produce fresh their own garden. The best food Ive had in Courtenay for sure. Indulgent and totally worth it.
Dessert: Olive Oil Lemon Cake! Fantasticio
This is the best restaurant I ve been to in the Comox Valley, by a solid margin. Attention to detail shows through, with delicious food, warm and welcoming atmosphere, and cheerfully professional service. We ll be back for sure, and hopefully sooner than later.
Great meal on patio. Fine food and service.
The best dining experience in the Comox Valley. The food is exceptional, the room relaxed and simple, and the knowledgeable, terrific staff will make your visit a delight. So glad you re here, Il Falcone.
They served us fresh figs from the tree growing beside us on the patio and the waiter was starring in his role as waiter with his flamboyant descriptions of the food and his flair for service. It was quite entertaining. The chef came out and said hello as well. The food of course was delicious.
Great Italian restaurant in the Comox Valley. Outside seating under great weather is the way to go. Chefs group menu for six or more patron is a great way to sample their specialties. All dishes were prepared to ensure everyone has ample to eat. Wine selection is good, but a bit costly. Head waiter has aggressive attitude, but knows his stuff. Still efficient.
Wine list is epic. Service is the right mix of attentive and knowledgeable, without being stuffy. Many ingredients from the garden out back we learned. creative menu. My new favourite for celebration evenings in the valley.
Simple menu at first glance, varied and complex twists sauces and tweaks before the plates hit the table. Fascinating selection of almost exclusively Italian wines!
I loved everything about this restaurant. I think it was probably the best dining experience Ive ever had. The staff make the experience better. We really enjoyed our night here
We love this place. Phenomenal. Incredible food, perfect wine menu, bubbles at the ready and always a treat. Lovely service... Have been here three times now since it opened and we are definite fans. Worth getting a babysitter for! My daughter is a foodie and she gave it two thumbs up too (7yr old). Oh the Halibut Cheeks...let me count the ways...
