Noon. First time there. My lady friend ordered fish tacos. They looked great! I had a Trad Burger. So filling. However, our server errored my side order. Took 8ish minutes to rectify. Fine with me. I had a glass of Shiraz. Ill return. Thanks!

Went there for a birthday dinner. Ate my average burger 30 minutes after my party. Had bottom of the fryer fries and was still charged for the burger and the aioli( extra 2.25 that i didnt know about). The beers are undersized and the food is underwhelming. Ps - The Florida special was removed from the menu. Dietary restrictions: They put tomatoes on regardless

Food was really good. The server was also excellent. She took our order and then read it back to us to make sure it was right. Everything was brought to us correctly. My only complaint was that it was quite chilly inside. But that s a pretty minor issue I suppose.

Cool atmosphere but service was slow, my steak was burnt on the bottom, herb butter cold and potatoes cold. Disappointing for sure. Maybe better next time.

Omg the most amazing restaurant experience I ever had our servicer was so kind and amazing she made me feel so comfortable and safe she made sure everything was perfect and everything was dairy free even the rice she made sure the kitchen was available to make a rice that didn t contain butter inside the rice and she made sure there wasn t any feta cow milk on the bowl I had and it was a amazing delicious meal that I had in a long time thank you to everyone who worked at Brown social house you made my day amazing

In my opinion, the thai soup had lots of flavour - but formed chicken, no thank you... And unfortunately the lovely server failed to mention it was a $3.50 upcharge. Id opened up my (Queso feature) burger to find a green tomato right as the server asked how everything was. Noting the tomato was green, she offered to get me another. I dont believe in wasting food, so I carried on. Finding other fried and rubbery components to the burger along the way, I was off put by the food in general. Seeing the added charge for the soup, left me feeling an overall sense of dissatisfaction. I have had decent/average experiences here, before - the review is partial to this sitting.

We have been going to Browns ever since it opened and have never had a bad experience! There are enough staff so that you don t have to wait long for a table or for service. Parking: Huge lot and easy to find close parking.

Ok to start we don t frequent courtenay for various reasons but last week we found ourselves in and around town so my wife and I decided to stop here. As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted with a blast of whatever the weekly top 40 is for music that s so loud you can t hear anyone talk. Then we were seated and greeted with a very unpleasant server who took our drink order and then seemed to have misplaced it or blamed it on the computer can t remember as she wasn t memorable. Then the food came out the butchers burger that I ordered was as if it had been sitting for awhile just waiting for someone to order it. My wife s salad was the saddest portion size for a full sized Cesar salad I have ever seen in my life. The atmosphere was what you d expect from a bar that their key demographic is obviously on the lower scale of age and intelligence due to the place looking like a hockey teams dressing room. All in all it was a terrible experience that I wouldn t recommend to anyone! Especially if you have kids this is NOT a family restaurant and it certainly is not worth the wait or the money you spend.

Like every time, I was expecting a good dining experience. However, it turned out to be a bad one for me. The waitress asked for my ID while choosing to not ask my friend for the same. While I have no issues identifying myself in a public place but I think it should be done in a manner so that one does not feel any prejudice. Also, being told what do you mean? for every thing I had to say during my couple of minutes of interactions with the waitress has left me wondering whether I was really accepted in the restaurant as a customer and whether my presence was disliked by some. Working in customer service I do realize that customers can be unpleasant many a times, however, this particular experience was such that it made me feel excluded and different to others. All I can say is it was a bad experience yesterday at a place where I felt happy and had enjoyed my meals. Going here alone or with someone made no difference. But yesterday was different and will linger for a while for me, it was also a learning moment.

By far one of the best customer service spots I ve been to. After waiting for our food which seemed a little longer than normal, we were told that the ordering process had been delayed due to the computer. Because of this wait, the amazing workers covered our entire meal and addressed us with the most friendly apologies. We will definitely be back for yummy food as well! Thank you again!

Great place to meet up with friends and enjoy lunch!

Delivery should have rang our doorbell as our food sat outside until it was cold. I wont ever give a tip again as part of delivery is delivering hot food to your door, they sat the bag under my light up door bell a couple of feet below it. It would have signalled that they had delivered the food. Although the food was cold and required reheating it was quite good. I recommend their food to anyone else who is looking for a great meal. Although be weary of the delivery service as they dont understand that knocking at the door or ringing the doorbell is part of the service!

My recent visit to Browns Social House was an exceptional experience, largely due to our waiter, Jax. From the moment we were seated, Jax displayed an unmatched level of attentiveness, ensuring our needs were promptly met with a warm and engaging demeanor. He had a knack for making them laugh, turning what could have been a typical dining experience into a delightful and memorable outing for the whole family. Had the blackened chicken cowboy salad. The flavor was delicious. However, the portion left more to be desired. For $21, I expected a main salad. What I received seemed more of a serving that would accompany a main. The service was good, the waitress engaged in small talk. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Little pricey, wife and I both had salads with water and spent $60 with tip.

I went to Brown s on Sunday, 28 January 2024. It was the worst dining experience I ve had on Vancouver Island ever it took 20 minutes for someone to take out order. We had to flag that person down. It took an hour after that for our meal to come, all three meals were horrible and parts of them were sent back one dish had chicken in it. The chicken was little tiny, dark brown nuggets that were unrecognizable as food. The cod dish was to come with coconut rice and it came with a huge portion of plain rice. Instead, I had a hamburger that was black burnt on both sides and tough as the sole of a shoe. I sent it back. I left the restaurant my friend stayed.and we re not charged. After 1. 1/2 hours of waiting I got a burnt hamburger. Shame on you chef your meals should not have been served.

Drove up from Campbell River for a dinner date on Sunday night. Coming from a big city with lots of dinning options & managing a large restaurant in the recent past, I haven t been thrilled with the restaurant experience since I ve moved out to the island. - Until Sunday. Easily the BEST service & atmosphere experience I ve had since I move out to BC. - Huge thank you to Garrett our server. He went the extra mile & took the extra steps to make our experience was absolutely fantastic. Would highly recommend & even consider making this a routine experience for the both of us!

My husband and I went there for lunch today, it was horrible! My husband ordered the beef noodle bowl, the beef was stringy and had more bean sprouts than noodles.I had the Thai chicken lettuce wraps, it was horrible! I got a totol of eight small cubes of chicken, lots of bean sprouts and a half head of iceberg lettuce! Not good! We definately will not return!

Extremely overpriced for poor quality food. Yam fries are 9$ for about 30 fries, and the crispy chicken burger had no flavour and was 80% crispy and 20% chicken. Very dissatisfied with my time.

Lunch/dinner date with my beautiful wife.... wish I could say it was a positive experience. Drove from Parksville to Courtenay for the afternoon with my wife to enjoy some time together and decided to hit up Browns as wed never been before, and never will again. Im not sure if our server was Lauren, but thats what the receipt says, though I wouldnt put much faith in it as she couldnt even remember to take our order, and once it was taken, couldnt figure out what table it went to. We placed our drink order. 2 waters, 2 coffees. We received the 2 waters right away by someone else, but took approx 13 mins to get our coffees, (after being asked if we had ordered anything other tha waters). You wrote our order down on your tablet but couldnt remember if we ordered anything other than our waters? Yes, our $4.25ea coffees. Then a server came to our table to bring us Iced Teas we did not order. Eventually, we got our coffee. Then she finally asked if we wanted to start with an appy. We said sure, just a fries to share. That took awhile to get, and once we got the 29 pieces of fries, ( that cost $9.00 for an amount of fries I could fit in the palm of my hand, I know this, because I watched a cook put one handful of fries on the plate and let it sit until barely luke warm). Another server brought our fries, (have yet to have a positive interaction with our actual server, as she was more focused on her friends beside us). Shortly after we received our fries we were brought food we didnt order, once again. Finally she took our order. My wife had a Dragon Tofu Bowl, it wasnt anything to write home about, (my wife is vegan, asked not to have the cream sauce, but experienced the sauce anyways, good thing she isnt allergic to dairy). I ordered the Florida Special with fries. Crispy chicken was in the description. I didnt know it would be crispy inside and out. Terrible bricks of torched batter, or is it supposed to be black? The meat inside was dryer than Australia in dead of summer. The server Lauren? would have known if she had checked on us. Not once during our food consumption did she ask how our meal was. Absolutely terrible service, terrible food. We never not leave a tip. This was our first time not leaving a tip, and have eaten at hundreds of places all over North America. Its really not that difficult to make sure we get a coffee, ask if we need anything, cook a peice of chicken, hold the dairy.... is it?

My dinner was horrible. Our server kept leaning on the table everytime she came over, I was drinking coffee and had to ask for a refill after waiting for her to ask for 10 minutes. Our server went missing often and when she did come back she seems more messed up than the last time.i would definitely not recommend. Add on to previous review... I was contacted by the owner and he was surprised and upset that we were treated in a manner that does not reflect how he runs his business. He has gone above and beyond to win back our business. It is very nice that he actually takes reviews to heart and wants to fix issues, not just ignore them. Thank you Adam, we will definitely be back.

The staff were very friendly. One of the best atmospheres for a restaurant locally in central Courtenay. Food was pretty good overall. I had the classic Browns Dragon Bowl #28. So whats the 28 stand for?

Dropped in with my Mom and had an excellent Honey Ginger Basil mocktail suggested by our server. Fish tacos and dynamite roll were top notch. Menu inspired some cooking when I got home. Love the individual W/Cs. Found it very noisy, but thats a sign of a hoppin hang out. I just prefer a quieter atmosphere. Will definitely go back.

Eggs Benedict sauce separated, fish in the fish and chips was under cooked and my sons burger had to be re cooked as it was raw in the middle. First time at Browns and wont be back.

Browns has a wide range of selections for everyone, and while it s on the expensive side, it s worth it for the quality and portions of food you receive. The staff are consistently super nice and friendly, and even when it s busy they don t seem stressed or in a rush to turn around tables. I highly suggest the Oreo cheesecake for dessert, it s great!

The new Browns has become our go-to after work place for after work. Great atmosphere, service and value.

Management and waitress went above and beyond to make our Mother s Day dinner out great. When our table was in an area that was hot, they came up with several options. When we decided to stay with the table in the heat, they opened up one of the sun screens as soon as we asked. They also brought us calamari on the house to make up for the heat. Food came quickly and service was fantastic.

Brown s Social House has great food and was always our weekly go tp when we were in Courtenay. Today, I ordered my usual, Dragon Bowl and my husband had fish and chips. The food tasted great, however, the portions are much smaller now. My husband had a handful of fries and the dragon bowl was more like an appetizer size with just a couple spoonfuls of rice. We always order the same thing, so it is very evident that the meal no longer fills us up. We are both average size people, and it doesn t take much to fill us up! The old serving was more than adequate! Service is good here and the server did try to compensate us by giving us a dessert to share, however, we would have preferred our normal size meals. One drink each, and our meal was over $80.00 with a tip! This is not the same good value we grew accustomed to, and sadly, may not got back!

Tried their gyoza and quesadilla - both were very underwhelming. The gyoza were probably the worst Ive ever had, and the quesadilla was just very dry. Would not recommend.

Browns is fine but their portion sizes are getting smaller and smaller. A friend sitting next to me ordered the black and chicken pasta and the piece of chicken that came with it looked about the size of a chicken thigh. Remember when those are things used to come with a whole chicken breast. Now it looks like youre maybe getting a third, pretty bad when youre paying 26 dollars for a plate of pasta. My experience just happened to be at this location. I honestly should have taken a picture.

Very nice bar. Nice breeze blowing through on a hot day. Showing Stanley cup, yeah! Friendly staff. Bar seats are very comfortable to lean back and watch the game.

On a lovely sunny day, we stopped for drinks and snacks so their covered patio area was great. The view is only of the mall parking lot, but we still enjoyed it. (I do like watching traffic . .). The service was quick and friendly. The beer selection was good and my wife loved her Prosecco Sangria. I ordered the salt & pepper dry ribs and the Dynamite Roll to share and both were excellent.

I was with a party of at least 20 people and our food came out so fast!! it took like 7 minutes to get the first plate out. And it was absolutely delicious we were all out of there in a hour.

Love this place. Food is always good we go their for their amazing nachos and dragon bowl but last two time the nachos have been really bad. It barely had any chese or any vegetable on them. Hopefully they will fix it because i love going their.

Disgusting, no better way to put it. We stopped here a few days ago while passing through town and we wish we had not. Our table/booth floor was sticky, table was still wet from what we hope was disinfectant, the restaurant was about half full and it took 20 minutes to get our drinks from a waitress who clearly did not want to be there. Our fish tacos were dry and bland With the tortilla shells half burnt , when I questioned our waitress about this she told us that s the way the kitchen cooks it and pointed towards the open window with the kitchen staff at which time my girlfriend said ummm that guys picking his nose , there was a cook in clear sight picking away with one hand while the other hand was doing something down below - assuming handling food - seriously???! What makes it worse is that our waitress thought it was funny and walked away laughing. We stopped eating our burnt dry tacos paid our bill and left disgusted and disappointed. Shame on you Browns for your horrible food , horrible staff , and horrible restaurant GROSS!

The menu has depth with some extraordinary items. The wine list is varied as well with fairly decent choices. For a mid-afternoon Lunch Period, service was very good.

Lunch was pretty nice. Nothing amazing but good. Server was friendly but for being as slow as it was, it was weird that we kind of felt like an afterthought. It took her 15min to come by after we had finished, just so we could ask for the bill. We werent in a hurry so no big deal, but it was obvious we werent a priority. The prices are very high though for what you get. Its very expensive for a chain pub. Drinks especially. It was alright though. I might be back eventually but it definitely didnt make my top 10 in the valley.

I dined in for lunch on my own during my lunch break. Jackson, was my server and was absolutely wonderful. The problem lies with my order, which was the Blackened Chicken Caesar Salad, with no bacon - as I am allergic. I know Jackson recorded the allergy on the order, so the error happened in the kitchen. Half-way through my salad is when I noticed some bacon bits and called Jackson over. I explained to him that I cannot finish the salad and asked that he bring to the kitchens attention. He came back, apologized again, and brought me the bill. Oddly enough, he asked if I wanted to take the salad to-go...which I cant do because it has bacon in it...I was pretty disappointed that no effort was made to try and make things right. Not even an offer to discount the mistake so that I might return. Not everyone considers pork products like condiments, some of us actually get sick from consuming it, thats why it is mentioned at the time of ordering...So disappointing when a kitchen cant put together a salad without pork.

Ive been here many times before and prior to tonight Ive had great service and good food but I got tonight I warmish food, slow service took over an hour to get our food, waiter was all over the place and my food was super salty and gross kinda wished i said something and saved my money and got McDonalds. Im hoping this is a one off.

In town for work and came here for dinner. Was seated right away. Service is prompt and good. Meal was prepared quickly and was very good.

Service is so slow and the food has really gone downhill over the years and portion size has shrunk while the price goes up! I ve been ordering the dragon bowl and used to be able to bring leftovers home and now the chicken seems prepackaged and it all tastes like it came out of a bag. Also the service was so slow tonight. We were sat for five minutes with no service and then when the server arrived she had no water, so another five minutes to wait for the water and about 15 minutes after that for the drinks.

Awesome service, our server told the kitchen we really liked the sushi and wanted to try to make it at home, so they made us a surprise make your own sushi kit to go! Server and kitchen were amazing!

Decided to give this place another chance after our last visit as we love browns in edmonton, and its right across the street from our hotel. Our server was absolutely uncaring and dismissive. When she would check on the two of us, it was asking over her shoulder walking away, ignoring our response. She had no smile, no friendly welcoming demeanor. She behaved like we were an utter inconvience to her, and was quite rude over my Government issued Alberta Drivers Licence for ID. The food was great, but it is deplorable that the manager keeps waitstaff like this. A paying customer should be treated like a guest with hospitality, care and welcomed. I would not recommend this establishment, and the manager should go over customer SERVICE with their staff.

Stopped in for a quick lunch with my parents. Our server Garret was very knowledgeable about the menu and size portions, so upon his recommendations we all chose a wonderful dish. Garret was super friendly, fun and extremely patient with my senior parents. We all laughed that the music is FAR TOO LOUD so we were seated in a quiet spot. We will definitely visit again.

Awesome customer service

Ordered take out while passing through, the dragon chicken bowl had about 3 pieces of edible chicken in it the other pieces had black burnt flecks on it, the rice was half cooked - like how do you not know how To cook rice? , calamari was soggy and barely had any coating on it it was like chewing a piece of bubble gum. Yuck thanks for ruining my road trip browns! Never again!

Good place for lunch or dinner. Good service and good food. Perhaps pricier than some other places, but youre paying for the higher end surroundings too.

Love this place, classic browns menu. Its always busy and the atmosphere is good. Friendly attractive and friendly staff. Great spot for lunch or a drink on a Friday night. Tip: if you get the #28 Dragon Bowl... get chicken AND Tofu. You can thank me later.
