They dont have clue on how to cook. I had there Benny bowl. the potatoes where under cooked . 19.95 for under cooked potatoes a couple of cheap eggs not even the good ones and minimum Holladaise sauce. My wife the omelet . Who cooks eggs then wraps them around stuff cooked on the grill and calls the that omelet? More undercooked potatos. The service was slow with lots of staff.

Three of us ordered the beef barley soup, and all 3 of us found next to none of any beef in our soup. The Ruben sandwich that two of us ordered had a very disappointing amount of corned beef, a couple of very thin slices. Maybe breakfast is better here?

Cozy breakfast nook filled with older residents. Prices are a bit all over the place so keep an eye out for that. Home fries are great but not sure if the loaded option is worth it. No specialty coffee available, drip only. Lovely and engaging staff.

I love the Early Bird Cafe! This spot does breakfast and lunch, nothing else but it does it well and with great consistency. We stay in a spot in Courtenay with a kitchen but on each stay we have breakfast at the Early Bird at least once. I love the waitresses, they are older, and will make sure that you are well cared for while you are in their house. Go there, you wont be sorry!

Went for breakfast yesterday with my kids and grandkids. I havent been there since I moved away 6 years ago but they still have the same great breakfast for reasonable prices and the staff were very friendly.

I was very impressed with the Early Bird Cafe. I was in a 2 day business meeting workshop with 12 people, we pre-ordered lunch from two different restaurants to save time, when we arrived at the first restaurant on day one, even though we pre ordered the staff had no idea of who we were and it took them 35 mins to bring our food out. Day two, we arrive at the Early Bird Cafe, they were ready for us, we got setted and drinks were ordered immediately, our food started being served within 7 mins of arrival. The food was excellent and we even had time for a nice walk before needing to head back to our workshop. Well Done Early Bird Cafe, you blew the other restaurant out of the water.

I was introduced to the early bird by my friend Karla. Her family frequented this establishment for years! I fell in love with the early bird. A good ol coffee restaurant. And the coffee is good too. Parking: Parking is great. Lots of parking in the area available. Kid-friendliness: Awesome for kids.

Was my first location i have chosen to eat breakfast at and do not regret it, the staff was wonderful and the food was incredible. I chose to have the blt sandwich with house salad and it was delivered to my table in a timely manner. Service was amazing and made me feel welcomed. I had sat in the outdoor seating area, as the cafe was packed inside, and for good reason! Even though they seemed very busy, I was warmly greeted by a young waitress, whom promptly rushed me out coffee and a glass of water to start my day. I ordered the eggs Benedict with diced potatoes, which arrived quickly, to my surprise (given the amount of customers). They were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. Overall, I experienced fantastic service, with a friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Im giving them a 2 star because the food was at least cooked. They dont follow the covid guidelines for the covid passport which is important to me, but I figured Id give them a chance. The food really wasnt that great, I got the Mexican Benny and it was just meh. Definitely could have made something better at home. The side of potatoes and onions were also meh. The onions were cooked well, but the potatoes were barely cooked at all. The coffee was probably the best part about the experience, it just tastes like your standard run of the mill drip coffee. The service was kind, Im mainly focusing on quality of food and covid protocols.

We visit here every time were in town - you cannot beat the portions of tasty food for the price and the servers here are pros! It says a lot when a family of five can eat an amazing breakfast/brunch without breaking the bank!

The best place to go for breakfast in Courtney! The staff is superb, and very friendly. The portions are HUGE and delicious! Plus, theyre always very time effective. Would recommend if youre flying solo or with a large group.

Early Bird Cafe has always been my favorite place for a family style brunch on weekends. Its a relaxed place where they give you a warm welcome, serve your food, fresh and hot, checking back after you have a few bites if the food they have was what we expected and so on. Recommend this place for home style breakfast to anyone!

This is a pretty standard place where you can just get grub, get it early, and get full. I dont think theres a place in town open as early, so it sort of wins on the pigeonhole principle. There was a wall full of kids drawings of birds and I was sitting next to what I believe was an owl making some reference to what came first the owl or the egg. The kid that drew it, Tiffany, had the owl driving a car, which I liked.

I came here for breakfast and was not dissappointed! The breakfast menu is large with many choices available for different diets. The breakfast I ordered was very tasty and filling and the prices were fair. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing, it felt like a mom & pop diner which made us feel at home. The staff was very kind made us feel comfortable and welcomed. I would definately love to come back here!

Great place, just needs about ten times the space cause its so busy, that if you want a lapdance and the smell of the person that is basically sitting on your laps bacon grease to fill your pallette with the feeling of being too close to your neighbors then this is the place for you. I personally think that they need parking and a bigger better location something with its own parking lot not shared with three or four other downtown locations and zero to none street parking. For a breakfast joint that is established and has a repeat customer base and a buffet I think they could take over another location or build one and not be so small .... 2019 people.

quaint little place; very basic but the food is good and the place is comfortable. also the staff will practically bend over backwards for you if you are polite.

Service was great, but food was only okay. It was interesting, because all the foods that required any skill were pretty well done, but some of the less technical dishes were neither particularly hot or flavourful. The atmosphere was excellent, but as a visitor, it doesnt stick out enough that I would be back.

Fantastic service and delicious food. We took full advantage of their all-day breakfast, after the call of nature forced our group into the closest restaurant we could find. Fortunately for us, they had delicious breakfast options for the vegetarian and the celiac in our group...as well as excellent options for the non-dietary-challenged. Our group tried an omelette, a club wrap, eggs Benedict and a skillet, and nobody was interested in sharing their plates...it was all too good! Portions were generous, coffee was bottomless, and smiles and friendly banter were the special of the day. Top marks for the Mrs. Early and Mr. Bird.

Yummy breakfast in Courtenay

The food, while isnt bad, isnt great either. It is very fairly priced though so you do get what you pay for. The wait staff is a mixed bag. Ive been there several times, when my usual place is closed, or too full, and they normally arent very attentive to our needs. They do seem to look after the regulars they know by name very well but for people like us we sort of get forgotten about. I routinely have to ask for refills on my drinks and go up and get things Ive asked for when they are at our table, like tabasco sauce and ketchup, and they dont really come check to see how are meal is. The greeter who seats you is very friendly and is probably the highlight of the staff. Overall its an ok place to eat but it really doesnt stand out in any way. It could definitely be renovated, nearly every seat has duct tape patches on it. If you want a cheap quick meal its a good place to go, if youd like great food and a pleasant experience Id suggest somewhere else.
