Little loud, to be expected for this type of bar maybe. Sat separated from the main bar by a long glass mirror wall for a family dinner. The lighting was terrible. We initially sat with backs to the mirror but found we were blinded by stupid led spotlights pointing from the ceiling. Changed to the other side to be greeted by the same lights bouncing off the mirror. Extremely poor design choices. I get that soundproofing is expensive, but sensible choices on lighting are generally not. The steak was miserable, the smallest little portion of steak, maybe I m not used to Canadian measurements ie oz. Regardless, the steak size would have been a kid s meal in Australia. Service was pretty good, staff were probably short on hands for how busy they were. Kid-friendliness: Kids allowed.

The Brie, beef dip, Mac and cheese are out of this world!!! 10/10 recommend!

Our last visit to this restaurant the food was horrible, and all 4 of us at the table complained to our server about the food.. its also unbelievable loud in there. The other customers are practically yelling to hear each other.. in our opinion this place should be avoided

We ordered take out for the first time from this restaurant. They forgot to add the dip with the beef dip and The $28 Chicken Parmesan meal was terrible. The pasta was underdone with no taste and the chicken had hardly no sauce as well.

Well, unfortunately Fluid has really gone down hill. They have reduced the menu significantly since we were there a few weeks ago. There were little to no patrons there at prime dinner hour on a friday night. That says something. It used to be fun, had a great menu with lots of choices and great drinks. What Happened??? It really doesnt feel inviting and the food we did have was fairly average. We wont be back or recommend your restaurant again.

Nothing wrong with Fluid Bar & Grill, just nothing exciting about the caesar salad and seafood chowder I ordered. Ordered prawns extra on the salad and they were small and bland. Service was adequate.

Food has gone downhill. Had the stir fry which was mostly cabbage filler, a little chicken, little rice. Wasn t bad until I hit this one mouthful that had something rotten in it. Could taste it right away. Ruined the whole meal. Had a mojito and the mint garnish that had brown and black in it. I mean how hard is it to get at least that right. Menu was pretty basic. Floor was sticky when we walked in and felt like it hadn t been mopped properly. Dirty place.

Last Sunday, my wife and I went to fluid, and we had a really bad experience. We ordered for 2 burgers, and it took almost more than 40 minutes to get the order, and it was burnt. I felt really sad and furious at the same time.

Meh. Not rushing back by any means. Dated, dark and drab, mediocre service at best and food was only OK. I will say the nachos were cheesy as heck tho which was pretty much the only good thing about our experience.

We went as a party of 10 for my brothers birthday. They dont have much variety on there menu in terms of dishes.. but I dont want to completely knock this place, as it is a nice environment. Our waitress also went above and beyond. She really did her best to take care of us. So no hate on this woman! Upon arrival we had jugs of water.. which tasted of cleaner - not faint (tasted like pure cleaner) so I quietly mentioned it to her and she apologized (I get things happen sometimes) she had gotten us new water.. Upon arrival of food you could tell everyone wasnt impressed but was just trying to make the best of their experience for my younger brother.. Its also quite pricey for what you get. I got a fluid burger - loaded with grilled chicken and fries. My total afterwards was $30 the fries are like a handful of crisped dirty oil. Literally chips they were crunchy and no flavour. Which everyone noticed and no fries were even touched by any of us after the first bites. My burger was delicious but felt not worth the $30 the beef patties that other family members ordered they complained of being very dry and didnt really want to eat it..on top of this myself, my brother and my partner all got food poisoning. I wonder about cross contamination and the cleaner tasting water... Just felt like the kitchen should be more observant. No one likes to be violently ill after hoping for a good experience. Maybe it was an off night for them... Didnt feel worth it for me.

Visited Fluid last week to watch a game with friends. I havent been lately but surprised how limited the menu was unless you eat meat, and also how poor my seafood chowder was (overcooked vegetables and almost no seafood!). Not hard to add a salmon burger or veggie burger to your options folks.

I stopped here on a school trip and the food was good, and the servers were very nice.

I have a hard adjusting to inflation. Lol The price of everything has jumped and I understand that but, unfortunately, I know how much less things used to cost. The food was excellent and so was the service. It was good pub fare at the going rate. The milkshake IPA beer was really good. Food

Went to Fluid for a birthday treat and was deeply disappointed to discover that almost all vegetarian options have been removed from the menu, including their delicious falafel option as a veggie burger!!! Fluid had previously been one of a handful of local establishments that had a impressive selection for vegetarians such as myself, but its like they have time travelled back to the 80s, or perhaps succumbed to current meat-only fads, and not even the salads are vegetarian anymore! I know that times are hard and costs are rising, but the per unit cost of a falafel is lower than that of beef, and yet you can charge the same, or even more, meaning you stand to make MORE profit when you have this option on your menu! This is a business decision that just does NOT make sense.... and restaurants in Vancouver that have made similar choices for cost cutting reasons have had to close their doors. Vegetarian options: Next to nothing - they removed their vegetarian options and no longer have a menu symbol for veggie friendly.

It could do with a makeover, perhaps. Its probably nicer when the patio is open. Was last here over 10 years ago and seem to remember it being a little fancier. It might have just been me and the difference between daytime and nighttime meals. Seems they have embraced the sports bar theme and have a few good specials on game day, including a contest where you receive a puck with a players number, and if he scores, your bill is free. Fair happy hour prices on $5 high balls, $8 doubles, and $6 beers, in early 2024. Check on line for current hours. Went in for a family lunch with both an adult child and 3 y/o child. They seemed short staffed, although it was about 4 pm on Saturday. When we did get seated, they were quick on the booster seat and many extra coloring pages to go with the crayons. Once we were seated, service improved, and the wait staff were polite and friendly and quite patient with our table. The food, although perhaps a little pricy, but isnt everywhere nowadays, was fairly good. Definitely, quality ingredients were used. The portions werent huge but not tiny, small either. Everyone was happy with the food we ordered and said it tasted really good. The menu, however, was quite limited. Our adult son mentioned it more than once. It was also he who complained about a bowl costing $29, but he is still young and learning. He did enjoy the jumbelia bowl though even if it wasnt spicy enough for his taste, but our waitress was quick to bring everything he might need to fire it up a few notches. We did not stay for dessert or linger for too long due to the 3 y/o being autistic and had to sit still. Overall, I like Fluid and would recommend it to others. Im not sure about for a family, but for a date night or a get-together w/ friends, for sure its an upscale, sort of hip place. Id like to come back in the summer and edit my review, so check back in 9 months. Parking: Very large parking lot behind the restaurant Kid-friendliness: Pretty good kids menu with coloring pages and crayons. Booster seats and I saw two basic, plastic highchairs(they looked to be light duty and not to study for a toddler). Not the most ideal place for children but better during the day for sure.

Unfortunately the place went from favourite to not going at all !! Hamburger were so dried out and tough, which we reported than was ignored, waitress was miserable and had to wait 15 minutes for the bill even though we told her we were going to the movies.. salade was good though ..

Meh, ordered the chicken strips, they were definitely not fresh. Barely warm, so Im assuming they did not make them from scratch, they were tough. Ordered them tossed in teriyaki sauce, which did not happen, thank God. The teriyaki sauce I feel was meant for cooking, barely edible for dipping. Caesar salad gets the 2 stars.

The appetizer was fantastic! The battered cod though was... Strange. The tartar sauce has this new age fusion taste to it with what I think is dill. I got nothing against dill but it was just quite a bit bizzare.

If you want to have a conversation with the one you are dining with, this is NOT the restaurant to go to. The music is too loud, and the place echoes; I couldnt hear the lady across the table from me because the only other table that had anyone seated at it, had to yell to hear each other. I found the place simply obnoxious. Food tasted good but was over priced with small portions. Service was all right, but I wont be back.

We had a very good dinner here of appys and drinks. Pork Gyoza, Chicken Quesidillas and Lettuse Wraps were all very tasty! Good service as well.

We had a great time! The service was impeccable. Our waitress checked on us frequently, but without disturbing our conversation. As soon as my drink was close to empty, she swooped in and replaced it. We had the gyozas to start and they were excellent. I think they were made in house and tasted excellent. I had the beef dip with the mushroom soup as a side. I loved both. The portions are big and the food is very fresh. Overall, it was an excellent experience. Vegetarian options: There was plenty of options. Dietary restrictions: They had no problem accommodating my spouses dairy and egg allergies. Parking: Lots of space!

Eaten here a number of times. Date night with my wife and bigger groups. Always been enjoyable. Was really looking forward to a delicious Cobb salad. But on this recent occasion, we knew what we wanted 5min after sitting. 10 more before we could order. Iced tea was way too sweet. Appetizer came pretty quick, spinach and artichoke dip was yummy. But after another 40+ min, our sugary tea and appetizer plate long gone, we finally got a refill and a promise, our dinner was coming right out. We both ordered salads. Chicken needs to be cooked, no doubt, but really? It was over an hour since we sat down. We dropped some cash to cover what we ate and drank and left. Waitress seemed like she had many tables, spread around and at least 1 out on the patio. She was moving pretty quick. I suspect either she didn t finalize the order and send to kitchen or the kitchen lost track of the order. Food previously was good, I ll say that much. But this is a 1st for me, never walked out before. Only once have I left a low tip. I ve worked service industry before, so I m sympathetic, but very disappointed.

First time at Fluid. Went with visiting relatives and wow. Best meal weve had eating out in ages. The server was attentive and met all our requests quickly. The crab dip starter was a meal on its own and absolutely delicious. All six of our party were extremely impressed with Fluid and will be back. Thanks for a great evening.

This was my second time there and my family was disappointed. My salad came with extremely stale corn chips on top with massive chunks of onion and wasn t very flavourful. My friends steak was disappointing and underwhelming. He was served wine that tasted like it had sat out for two days (I tried it too) and he did not drink it. (Nothing was reduced or comped from the bill including the untouched wine after speaking to the server and she took it away.) The service was okay but we could tell she was not genuinely friendly but forcing to be. We were very friendly and kind about the food and drink complaint. Good calamari though! But I won t be back. Parking: If you have people with mobility issues drop them off at the door as there is no nearby handicap parking.

The experience was a complete disappointment. Although the place was not that busy we waited too long for 2 burgers. The Fluid burger was very dry and beef patty doesnt taste good. I couldnt finish half of it. My partner had a side poutine and it was cold and not tasty at all. Her burger cost 33 dollars with extra toppings. We went to this place cuz it is open late hours but it is always a mediocre experience. We will not go back again. Also the place is very loud and the temperature is cold. The service is okay but I got better experience in many other restaurants in the valley.

Sadly they took 3 of our favorite items off the menu but we heard it was a cost issue. Unfortunately thats what we would go there for and we also highly recommended these items to many. Its very hard these days to run a business but I could suggest other items that arent nearly as good. Wishing them the best.

One of the worst meals i have had. Pasta was so undercooked it was still hard. Alittle 3 oz chicken breast, big bowl of pasta . When asked how was everything, i replied with Pasta way too hard still. Waitress was nice, but come the bill they deducted $3.20 from the $28.00 charge. We were warned about going here, but thought we would give ot a try. Their menu is extremely overpriced for what you recieve. Wont be back, Wont reccomend and really folks save your $$$ and go get some fast food as its better than here.

First time stopping into this place, Ordered the Fluid Crispy Chicken Burger. The taste was perfect the chicken had a little kick, and the crispy onions topped it off! Amazing burger and one of the only places throughout the lower mainland and island I have visited that the crispy chicken burger was actually CRISPY!

I came with my family and we had the Grilled chicken burgers which were a bit plain, but the Kung Pau rice prawn and steak and the fried chicken burger were excellent. Staff were polite and helpful and not too long to wait. I will look to come again soon.

Fluids is a staple. My bestie and I always go their for special occasions. Our favourite things are the drinks! Really good Martinis and Bellini s! Also love the baked Brie, spinach and asiago dip, lettuce wrap, and fluid Reuben sandwich! Best causal restaurant in Courtenay.

Great food. Almost always made perfectly and even when its not, its still really good. Friendly service and nice atmosphere when its not too busy. I highly recommend the tuna tataki appetizer. Fav mains are the crispy chicken burger done Mexican style, the reuben with regular Mustard instead of grain Mustard, the fish and chips, and the Cobb salad with steak!

(Im a fries girl haha) and if you want real fries this is the place to go. My hubbys fav is the Kung Pao Chicken.. Will definitely be back many times over.

I wish I could give this place more points as I love to support local but I have to say that the food and menu were very average and overpriced, the IPA, Margarita and subsequently the red wine we ordered were somehow ALL practically undrinkable and the interior was trying to be classy but looked very dated and bland, really lacking any authentic charm, character or flair. All in all Fluid is missing the point and trying to be something it doesn t know how to be. Much room for improvement :(

We have been going to Fluid for years and will continue to for years to come. Consistently delicious, friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere to tie it all together.

We came in early for appies and watched the place fill up. Pleasantly surprised by the portions of the appetizers we ordered, and found that the happy hour specials were very generous. Well be back again.

Tonight we did takeout from Fluid. I usually get the BBQ chicken wrap and fries. (They have the best fries). Tonight I got the Thai Chicken Salad. It was delicious. Lots of fresh veggies, perfect tasting dressing and great balance of noodles too. I dont think I have ever loved a salad out anywhere as much as this. Side note when they packed the order my warm chicken was separate from my veggies so I still had a nice crisp salad.

The food and atmosphere here is lovely. In town on vacation and our server took very good care of us and was right in her recommendation of how good the sea food chowder is. As someone with little experience with fish, can confirm, delicious. Thank you for a great dinner after a long day of adventuring.

Went there as it was recommended for Gluten free choices for my daughter with Celiac disease. Did not disappoint, she enjoyed her meal, worry free. My granddaughter got her favourite meal from kids menu. My sister and loved our meals, although it was hard to choose from the menu. Server was excellent. The meal and drinks came in just the right amount of time. Definitely will come back when I m in town again.

I am not impressed went there at around 7 pm on a Saturday night with 3 others and got food. First the food that I got did not taste right, Ive had that exact dish before but something about it this time was off. Im also celiac so eating at any restaurant scares me though I decided to take a chance. Well fast forward to when I got home, I puked and felt sick all night and all day Sunday I was Ill and could not leave the washroom. Idk if it was food poisoning or gluten but either way I am not impressed. Will not reccomed to any one and definitely will not go back.

Our server was also the bar tender that night, he was so attentive that he had a drink ready as soon as we put our empty glass down, our table was serviced as if we were the only ones in the restaurant, he was awesome. The food was ok... Sadly my party all said the salad didnt taste like it had been washed. My beef dip was dry and somewhat tasteless, I have had good food there before so I was definitely disappointed this time. Hopefully better next time.

Limited menu , place needs updating

Very nice staff, the menu was broad and made kids and grown ups happy. $9 kids menu included all the regulars, mac cheese, burger, fish, chicken, grilled cheese, even stir fry, all come with a drink and fries/soup or veg. The grown ups get well taken care of too. I had the Asian chicken salad and it was lovely - lots of chicken, nice and peanutty. My son demolished the beef dip he may not eat for some time to come. Good spot.

Great restaurant with a lovely patio. The food was enjoyable - we had the jambalaya, steak salad, and chicken nachos. Service was also good. Greatly appreciated that right on the sign it says children are welcome - best restaurant high chairs we have come across complete with tray and working straps. Our children were treated well. Also has an accessible washroom with change table.

Great restaurant. We knew by the Wednesday night full parking lot at 9pm that it must be good- and no let downs. Great service, food was delicious, short but good wine list. I had the clam chowder as my side, but it was really the star or the meal. Hubby had Jambalaya and loved it.

Came here for a quick drink over the weekend and sat on the patio as it was unseasonably warm and sunny out. What a nice spot - the server she was super-friendly and very good at her job, the beer was cold and tasty - wish we were able to spend more time at Fluid. We will definitely be back next time were in Courtenay!

I was horrified to find that my burrito was in fact a squirrel wrapped in a wash cloth! I will never return. Also, the server asked my girlfriend if she wanted her chicken served rare? I will be making a call to food safe.

Late night stop coming off the ferry. Good plate of nachos good cheese ratio could have a few more local drink selections.

Burger was super dry Salad was ok Kids Teriyaki chicken and noodles was average ...but the fries were nice.

Its kinda been going down hill the past two years with a new owner. Smaller portions, less accurately made food. The staff are really nice and the food overall still tastes pretty damn good but the execution isnt as well as it used to be. The service is still amazing.

Had an amazing lunch with a friend. I drove 3hrs from Victoria and I was definitely not disappointed. The food was excellent and the server was over the top accommodating!

Ordered the bacon & chicken fettuccine Alfredo for takeout. About half of the dish was onion chunks. I had heard this place was good, but was quite disappointed!

Looked like a popular location so I and my family were really looking forward to trying it out. Truly disappointed. Food was mediocre at best, some parts of the meal barely warm, food quality below standard for the price paid. They really need to up their game.
