A great place for a delicious burger and a few well crafted pints with your friends and family. Great atmosphere outside....feel free to bring your well behaved dogs.

That was amazing. I met some islanders that shared what it is to be an islander. Yes, from places, but such communities, communication and humbleness. If you are not from this area, try striking up a conversation. You most likely will find that you have a sad and forgotten concept of what a conversation is or should be!

Beer is excellent. Food is good. Atmosphere is among the best in the valley. But the staff were extremely condescending to my father regarding a product they produced a couple of years ago. Funny to deny that a beer was ever available in cans when there is a picture of a can of it on instagram and on the front page of your website. Maybe the newer staff aren t as familiar with old menu items but this interaction left a sour taste in our mouths. Not sure if I ll ever want to come back.

I only tend to review places after a particularly good interaction but I ve been going to Gladstone s for years now and was shocked that I had not reviewed it yet. Of all the choices for the best of beers, food, and atmosphere in the Comox valley, Gladstone s is the number one for me, my family, and my friends. With arguably the best local beer amongst hard competition near and far the addition of elevated food choices makes it the top of most people s lists. Add in a pet friendly enclosed patio and local talent nights, and has become the favourite haunt for a large number of happy people. Vegetarian options: Burgers, pizza, and more. Parking: Large dedicated lot and others nearby. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly food and drink. None of the local talent acts are adult natured or unsuitable for kids. Even the comedy nights are family friendly (mostly!). Wheelchair accessibility: Single, ground floor establishment. Has accessible washroom which friends say is good enough to work.

Start off with the positives. Staff were very friendly and engaging. Patio was nice especially with the fire pits (bonus). Beers I found to be meh. The food was tasty. Hubby had the chicken burger and I had the birria tacos. The taste was nice but the size. Tiniest tacos I ve ever seen and the price point 3 for $15. Just didn t cut it. Not sure I would return when in Courtenay.

Burgers are great but fries are better. The new covered patio is lovely in winter but you still need a touque

Always a good time at Gladstones

Gladstones hosted a big work event for us of about 30-40 people, when we made the reservation through Martha she went above and beyond to accommodate any request. The guests had a great experience, enjoyed the atmosphere and the drinks. The house Guava margarita was popular and overall a great experience.

Very good food, good craft beer and great atmosphere. The owners and management are great people.

Popped by this brewery for a quick bite and to let our kids stretch their legs before our flight and we really hit the jackpot stopping here. Super friendly staff, cool vibes, huge outdoor patio with heaters, delicious food, VERY generous portions and incredibly family friendly. As soon as we walked in someone someone handed our little guy a toy to bring to our table to play with and showed us their little toy section for kids. As a mom of 2 toddlers this is GENIUS and so appreciated. The most enjoyable dining experience we had on our trip. Thank you!!

Update: We went back to the Gladstone recently at the invitation the manager to give it another go after the unfavourable review below. The beer is still good and the local pub vibe was definitely a thing - very community oriented. We went for the Mexican dishes this time and the burritos were jam packed with goodness. Fresh and tasty and definitely filling. The kitchen was on the ball that day and the server was friendly. Glad we gave it another go and will definitely go back. It is a good manager who will read honest reviews and take them to heart. The beer here is good. The food was not. The hamburgers were chewy, small and unenjoyable. The serving of fries were meagre but that was okay because they tasted like they were from a fry factory. I enjoy the brew pub vibe and ambience but on a cold, rainy December day, the whole place was wide open without not much care for how much energy they were using by keeping it so wide open. And where we sat, the heater was going full tilt. The guy at the cash was nice. But on the whole it was such a disappointing experience. Parking: We were there mid afternoon so parking was easy

Wonderful experience. We are new to this area and are enjoying a vibrant restaurant scene. The Gladstone goes above and beyond in every way! The tacos are exceptional (I lived in Mexico) and I would even say that they are better here. Alejandra and her staff have a passion for presenting great food and making the Gladstone a repeat destination.

You cant go wrong with Gladstones. The staff are great, the atmosphere, fantastic, and the live music is always a great bonus. Menu-wise, the Mexican options are the place to be. Oh, and its a great place to be out with your dog.

Beers are gorgeous, my go to in the fridge in my brothers. Burrito is great too. Vegetarian options: We with a vegi and she had a vegi burger. Parking: Easy peasy.

Banging burgers and great price!

Stopped in to Gladstone Brewing mainly because it was dog friendly and served cider. We were pleased, the patio has great ambiance with lots of shade for us and our pooch. We ordered cider and food, my husband had fried chicken tacos and I had a chicken burrito and we were both very satisfied with our meals. The burrito was huge and fed me for two meals. Would definitely visit again. Kid-friendliness: There were lots of families enjoying lunch with their kids, and I believe they had a kids menu.

Great spot that was absolutely buzzing right until close, even on a Wednesday night. Large patio space with live music. Good beers. Didnt get food, but it looked good from what I saw. Just an overall good vibe.

Awesome in house brews, kombuchas and beers, food is easy eats! Yum Great place for getting together with friends! Luv the atmosphere and lots of room to sit. They have live DJs like RESONANT DOG and he was amazing ! Pride day was an energy off the charts! Gladstones can house diverse groups and local talent !

Great food and wonderful atmosphere

I was warmly welcomed and enjoyed the community atmosphere. The drinks & food were great too.

We had a few great flights and a meal at this brewery, which has a large patio with full grown trees and a fun atmosphere. Great to try then you can purchase your favourites to take home! Kid-friendliness: There was a children s menu and we saw some families there with toddlers as well as teens.

Just showed up for lunch on a Monday and there s a fun birthday dance party here on the patio! The owner and manager are energetic, personable and the food is legit with heaping portions!! Definitely coming back!

Gladstones hosts incredible live music every Monday with Luke Blu Guthrie and Friends. A popular open mic night happens every Wednesday as well as live music Sunday afternoons. Great beer, great food, great entertainment with a toy box for kids and dogs are welcome. Kid-friendliness: Lots of toys for kids.

Would be 5 stars if they made an amber or red ale . Fries and veggie burger are top notch.

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. It is everything that the city of Courtenay needs, a vibrant, warm, welcoming, family friendly place that has fantastic food and some of the best beer in the valley! I love the themed events. Keep it up, Gladstone!!

Great food, beer, and service. No notes. Wheelchair accessibility: From what I saw, it was. No stairs leading up to, or in the establishment - including washrooms. Walkways are fairly wide.

Along with the CBC, Gladstone is Comox Valleys original craft brewery. They still make exceptional beer, and the color and diversity and good vibes found on a spring or summer Friday on the courtyard and patio is pretty much unrivaled in the CV.

Best place for having a great beer with your dog and/or baby!

Suggested by a friend, Cant wait to dine here. Ive heard really good things about the drinks, food and atmosphere.

First time visiting here. Both the food and service were excellent. I got the fried chicken sandwich with fries along with a couple of cerveza and my wife ordered the pizza. It was a great friday night atmosphere with doggers and their humans. We both enjoyed our meals, and we returned the next day to enjoy some wings with their light beer. The heritage of the old mechanical shop and car dealership was very cool. I will be returning soon to see what else this gem has in store with the great brew masters and wonderful chef!

This is by far my favourite brewery / pub, and one of my most frequent spots to eat out at. The beer is delicious and reasonably priced, the staff is friendly and they permit dogs in their covered patio all year. Usually you can find a water bowl nearby, and theres always an open keg-tap on the patio that dispenses water for you or your pets needs. My favourite dish here is the Baja Rockfish Tacos - I am so glad they added this, because its truly authentic; I do spend time in the southern state of Oaxaca, MX and can attest to the quality of the fish tacos at Gladstones. The price is great for local tacos too, and they include Salsa Verde and delicious pickled onions Ive come to expect from true southern-Mexican tacos. In the winter, they heat their covered patio from above and its very cozy too. I highly recommend this place to all my friends, and I hope youll give it a try too.

I like the vibe of the place, one of the few places that actually feels alive. Food is great too, but since this is a brewery, the beer should be where they shine. However, the beer is the weakest point. As far as brewing goes, its done well. Serving the beer is where they fail horribly. Majority of the time Ive been there the beer tastes flat, not crispy and fresh. They really need to up their game in serving and maintaining their beer. Stopped coming in since my Pilsner, which is supposed to be served with at least an inch of head on top, was poured looking and tasting like an apple juice

Great place to stop by and taste their beers and tacos

The vibe of the place was great. The food however was questionable. We ordered the birria tacos that were fine but quite greasy, the tortilla soup which was not great - it seemed like they just threw old tortillas into the soup. They were so soggy and the soup flavour was not what I was expecting. We also ordered the chicken bites as an appetizer and I think there were 4 small pieces of chicken for $12 will 2-3 carrots on the side. The fries were barely warm as well, and the oil can burger meat was thin and average tasting. Notably we didn t try their beer.

This is a great place. They allow dogs which works well for us with our dog. The beer is great and they do have live music from time to time. Even better sitting out in the sun on a warm day enjoying a cold beer!

The best Mexican food I ever tried in Canada. (I m mexican) you have to come and try the tacos for sure! Leave McDonald s by a side and make your evening prefect after a nice ski day.

Really good kombucha

Good Beer, less on the menu for those that dont prefer hoppy stuff but still a great selection usually have a Sour on Guest rotation. They have Cider as well and the odd cocktail. Tasty food that partners well with a pint. Good to go solo or with a group.

Nice little place , sometimes the staff can be a bit rude. But you have to let it slide, I suppose, if you want to enjoy a mediocre cold, strong beer on the cold patio. Good burgers, tho. Unfortunately, it just seems the staff can be a bit disgruntled

Tried new beer being a wine person who enjoys stouts & porters during warm weather added red ale to my beer pleasure its been over 5yrs years still go about 3xs a week. ItS great that they have music Sun-Thurs evenings with special events some weekends during warmer weather

A brewpub in a converted service station, this place is a great place to et a beer and lunch in Courtney. Their beer was excellent and the burgers very delicious. They do not have an extensive menu, but Id say they do a good job on the items the specialize in. The servers were friendly and always cheerful and fill of fun. It advertises as Dog Friendly and the dogs we saw there were friendly and happy.

Love this place. Food is pretty good. Beers are good. Limited cocktail options. (Is a brewery) Not gonna lie , kids and dogs can get annoying and loud here. But still one of my fave places to chill on an afternoon Food : 3/5

Love the patio!

Beer is great. But service is iffy, and incomplete. Their fries are unreal, and the garlic aeoli is amazing. This place is halfway to a self service stop, so don t expect friendly waiters.

Good food, attentive staff

Now that mudsharks is gone the patio is huge and nice. Grabbed a couple of IPAs and a order of fries. The beer was great- the fries were old and small for ~ $6. Should have just had the beer. Mayo was bought in town

the food here is pretty inconsistent, some days the food is amazing but sometimes the food is terrible. for example one day i ordered a hamburger with parmesan fries and the meal was fantastic but i went back a week later, ordered the same burger with parmesan fries and the burger tasted horrible, i had to bring my food back to the counter because they didnt put any parmesan on the fries and when they put the parmesan on the fries, they came back cold and the parmesan wasnt even melted. (both times i came by the restaurant wasnt all that busy and most of the customers there just ordered drinks so idk why they couldnt stay consistent with there food)

Beer is great as always. Some of the staff (the female one) could use some help with customer service. The gentleman there was fun and outgoing and made me feel at home. The food used to be amazing. But now the burgers are just another burger, nothing crazy. Love the atmosphere and love that they welcome dogs on their patio. Definitely a great spot to hang out and socialize while enjoying great beer. They also have wine and ciderr options too which is good.

Well its a brew house. So youll probably find a beer youll like. Big patio with heaters for them cooler nights. Dogs allowed on patio also. Im going to bring my cat, lets see how that goes. Good menu for a meal not your usual pub food.

Great pub, good food and drinks, solid atmosphere, close to the water and with a massive patio undercover with shade. Dog friendly and central to downtown Courtenay, its the go-to place.

Always a good time at Gladstone, the foods very tasty and the beer is top notch. Location in downtown Courtenay cant be beat, walking distance to so many amenities, highly recommended!

Great beers in a casual atmosphere. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor space . The snacks are super tasty - the tacos are my fav. It is counter service, that s the only reason it s 3 stars, though the staff are friendly and getting up encourages the social nature of the place - you re bound to see someone you know there . And did I mention the award beers!?!

Most of the time fantastic. When guerilla pizza was there, fantastic. taco joint never great at all, but now youve got burgers its back on top. Miss the sour, Belgian single is great. Glad to be back here. Menu changed (for the worse), good beers have slid into oblivion, not worth going to any more as its a far cry from where it started.

I left a luke warm review several years ago when Gladstones didnt have the amazing fare they have now so felt compelled to update my opinion :-) Best burgers in town! I can never decide between the chicken or the veggie, which is the most delectable Ive ever tasted. Staff appear to Love their job and the casual atmosphere which includes kids and dogs feels great !!! My favorite after work spot!

Great Beers!

First visit to this terrific craft brewery/Bistro and not disappointed! Super brews and the fish tacos were really good! Patio seating was a hit. We will be back. Parking: Great parking and bike friendly with good sized bike rack - visible from patio too. Wheelchair accessibility: Patio is right off the sidewalk, and on same level as parking. Easily accessible for walkers, wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Washrooms on same level, but might be a bit tight for some wheelchairs.

A great local place with delightful brews and terrific food. Be sure to try the street nachos and have them throw some brisket on it. Delicious.

Beer was average, service and staff were excellent, but the true vibe killer here was Country music on volume 11, and they kept turning it up. We couldnt even carry on a conversation. I wont be back.

I dont love Gladstones beer. Its not bad but nothing ever really stands out about it. Their space is outstanding though. A big outdoor beer garden, covered and heated, can order from your phone, food available is good. Service is always prompt. Dog friendly patio too so a nice place to stop if you are passing through with a pooch.

Marta was super in knowing and responing to my needs, the Double IPA was very refreshing and fresh and the atmosphere fun and creatuve.

We loved the experience. We met with the owner who is this magnificent woman, full of light and a real character. Heart of gold and so full of love for her community. It was honestly very refreshing.
