The Timber Room Bar & Grill offers a deliciously wonderful “gastro-pub” menu in a bright, open space with a view over the golf course and local mountains. From steaks to salmon, rice bowls to tacos, burgers and ribs, our menu has been designed to please all! Family-friendly and open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The ambiance is playful and social – full of logging memorabilia, live sports on the multiple screens, great music playing in the background, and a cozy fireplace section. When the weather warms up, the Comox Valley’s largest and most scenic patio overlooking the 18th green welcomes golfers, hotel guests, and local patrons alike. Come for a beverage, stay for a meal.
This was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had in my life and I eat out every day because I’m 21 and don’t know how to cook. My father has his own company and he was in town here from down south and I wanted to take him to a nice dinner before he started work at 8 PM so shortly before seven we arrived at the timberroom knowing an hour would be close but possible, We waited a good amount of time to order food nonetheless actually get it, We arrived at 7:02pm At our table, probably ordered 10 minutes after And didn’t get our food till 815. My dad had to be at work at eight so he’s already late after getting the food his steak sandwich medium rare. Was more cooked than my leather shoes. my dad, being a kind man in a rush would not complain so I be complained on his behalf and showed the Server the shoe leather sandwich . My beloved fiancé got the completely wrong Food, so wasn’t able to eat with us after an hour and not seeing my dad for months . My dad ordered coffee as he’s working an overnight shift. He Ordered a second coffee on the second out of three times the server checked on us in an hour and a half, and he never got his second coffee. They did remedy this after I complained with 40% off I believe this is fair but still absolutely poor experience, would not recommend anybody in the Valley. On a sidenote, I also ordered soup and got the spoon. That’s not a big deal but still not good. If a restaurant is busy and stuff like this happens, I can understand, but the restaurant was empty. There was three other tables in the entire restaurant and one was only getting drinks. So there is no excuse for the poor service food mistakes and long wait times
The Crown Isle Beef dip, highly recommend! Thinly-shaved hot beef on an Italian bun. The dipping gravy is so tasty. Get the green salad and cover all food groups in one great meal!
Timber Room has really upped their game in the last couple years! We live nearby and go a couple times a month. Always happy with our food and service. The views cannot be beat on a clear day, especially during patio season!
We eat here often and have never had a bad experience. Whether it's one of Chef Dan's signatures or from the happy hour selection (the soups are awesome) we always leave full, satisfied, and with leftovers for lunch. But it's the friendly staff we keep coming back for our version of Cheers (the family welcome, not the drama of the tv show). An important part of our community.
Had a wonderful meal here. The food is very good quality and the service was prompt. It is a bit expensive but is worth it.
June 2024. When I visit Courtenay I make time to enjoy a lunch in the Timber Room. The atmosphere is spectacular and the menu has a fantastic selection of dishes, and we loved everything we tried...full of flavour and cooked to perfection. The staff are friendly and always smiling. See you again soon. August 20, 2024 Came back to enjoy an amazing supper. As you can see from the pictures the food looks delicious but the attention to flavor is throughout the dining experience. The organic red wine was smooth and complimented the salmon entree.
Went here for a family Christmas Eve, Eve Dinner. Everyone had only been one other time for lunch, so it was nice to experience dinner. Average prices, good food. Will go back.
A MUST GO! I used to go here years ago until about 3.5 years ago when the food started to be dry and not be that great. I recent went here late Feb 2023 and the food was devine!! I was literally shocked at the revamped quality of their food from their fries, drink, burgers, fish dishes and so on. Each and every thing my table of 4 ordered was top notch and reasonably priced with portions that filled you up! Great atmosphere; they keep the place warm with the grand fireplace and service was attentive, friendly and quick. I don't often praise restaurants so highly but this one is now one of my go to's and recommendations for family and friends for the Courtenay/Comox region. Well done to who was in charge of the revamp.
Our server was awesome he did a fabulous job.
Fabulous food and service - thank you. I attended a private function yesterday and it was wonderful. Great food and the service exceptional.
The food is to die for! And the staff are so warm and welcoming. Absolutely love it!!
Our favourite restaurant in the valley - great service, food, and view. Great happy hour drinks and snacks. Specials every night to ensure variety. The team that works there is hospitable and welcoming.
Its OK. Service could be better
Great food and drinks and lovely patio area!
Waited 15 minutes for service, finally went to bar.
Best poutine in the valley
The drinks were great but the food could have been better.
Had a wonderful night!!
Delicious food and excellent service.
We sat on the patio on a sunny day so the atmosphere was lovely. The service was prompt, friendly staff. The food was excellent, good prices and plentiful!
Excellent and very good service
Met a friend for lunch, hostess was very accommodating and rearranged table for two on the patio. Our waitress Chelsea was very pleasant, and my salmon burger was delicious.
Stopped in to have dinner after my round on the patio. Wow, what a beautiful view and atmosphere. Our server Lauren was very friendly and professional. Highly recommend a round on this beautifully kept course and an after round beer on this premier patio. Will definitely be back!
The food was amazing we came in for prime rib night and Lauren our server was very knowledgeable about pairing wines, she chose the seven stones Pino noir and it was devine!
Dietary restrictions: Provided all options for all restrictions Food
Great experience Parking: There is a ton of parking Food : 5/5 |
Fantastic! I Food was off the charts Kitchen Nailed It Staff Hustles hard So coming back
They have a new menu with limited selections. The burgers are the smallest I have ever seen, the fries are very salty, the food was mediocre at best. The service was terrible. The wait was extremely long. The staff made excuses for the delay. I asked why the fries are literally loaded with salt and they said that is how they make it. Dont go there.
Was here for our Grandsons high school graduation. The waitress was attentive. Food was excellent. Very expensive though. A great memory...
We went to the timber room the 1st time in years and both my wife and I said we wont return. The ribs we both ordered were barely warm, and the service was terrible not even asking us how the food was or if we want another drink which we did. We just ended up paying and leaving, very expensive for not very good food. The atmosphere was nice though.
Prime Rib perfect tonight!
Amazing & friendly service, spectacular views, and great food. Definitely worth dining here even if you re not a golfer and whether or not you re staying at the resort.
Went out for a nice dressy dinner with a friend. Reservations put us at a table close to the fireplace. Service was good and the food was delicious. Would dine there again.
Went to the Timber Room and was quite disappointed with the experience. I ordered the steak and when it arrived it was lackluster to say the least. Poorly seasoned meat, the vegetables served with it were flavourless and boring, the steak was full of gristle, and the demi actually worsened the meal rather than adding to it! I would not recommend coming to this restaurant if you are looking for any WOW factor.
Well, I should have known!! we walked in for breakfast at 930am. on a Sunday, and we were the only people in the restaurant.. The food wasnt what we expected for being Crown Island Golf restaurant. It was barely ok. The scrambled eggs were extremely overcooked, and the sausages and ham were also dry and way overcooked, we were really disappointed the service was good, though
Great service, great food, Shay looked after us well on Christmas day!
We are new here and still looking for good restaurants. I called ahead to see if they served prime rib because its my husbands favourite meal. When they said they did, I made a reservation for us to go for his birthday dinner. When we got there, there was no prime rib on the menu. It was the main reason we went there so we were very disappointed. Since we were there and hungry, we stayed. We started with the stuffed yorkies. They were tasty but unfortunately cold. My husband also had a steak, which he said was just ok. Very good service from a friendly girl but overall a disappointment. Too bad. Additionally, the lack of nearby parking was also a disappointment, especially in the pouring rain.
Food was kind of bland, mostly tasted like something I could have made at home if I had no seasoning. My veggies were a bit firm and unseasoned, I assume they were supposed to be steamed. Waitress was fantastic.
Order takeout, had to pick it up from reception. Had to wait 15 minutes for some jerk who cut in front of me to whine about his room only to get my food home (3 min drive) only to find it cold and soggy. The kid portion I ordered for $10 was more food than my $25 burger. RIP OFF. Black fin is way better and way more food and better quality for price.
The food and beer selection is good, the atmosphere is unique. Large timber frame is used for the structure and the patio is on the 18th green., so there is great view especially in the summer.
Great restaurant, they were trying out breakfast and the Smoked Salmon Benny was amazing. Definitely would try out their breakfast if you see an offer for it.
Creme Brule the best part of the experience.
The place was full, but they found us a seat. Service was excellent and the food was great
Breakfast is being served again at the Timber Room. Beautiful day, great food, fantastic service! I had Salmon Bennies and my Hubby had Chorizo bowl. Both were delicious! Lots of Salmon in my dish! Waitress was attentive but not pressuring. We were 1st breakfast patrons and didnt feel rushed to leave!
Had a wonderful meal at the timber room. The staff was attentive, efficient and wonderful with my daughter. The food was excellent, my daughter says they make the best poutine she has ever had (and she is a bit of a connoisseur). Can t wait to come back again!
Good beer, good food, special views, and cheerful service make the Timber Room a wonderful place for a family lunch.
We each ordered a new York steak sandwich. I have never seen such a fat and grisly piece of steak in my life. We couldnt cut it with a steak knife let alone chew it! More than two thirds left on our plates! The beef barely soup was very good. We will never eat here again nor will we recommend it! We did show and mention it to the server and she didnt care, just said oh well sorry about that!
I have visited twice and both times were disappointing. On my first visit, the restaurant was incredibly busy (due to an event at the golf course) so I didnt fault all of the things that went wrong due to the fact that the service staff were totally overwhelmed. The falafel wrap was tasty and the beer selection was decent. However, yesterday I visited at 5:30pm to take advantage of Friday happy hour drinks. My partners beer was flat and the staff exchanged his for a different type that wasnt flat. We were having a good conversation so we ordered another round and the bill. Our first round was during happy hour but we were given larger portions that were not part of the discount. I have been to many establishments and they are happy to offer the happy hour drinks as a default, its good business. The restaurant wasnt very busy but I still didnt feel very welcome or appreciated as a guest. Anyway, Im not going back for a third strike at the Timber Room. There are many other places in the area that make me feel welcome.
Great food
Its OK the food is what you would expect but nothing spectacular, but still good. Prices are kind of high for food you would get at any pub in the area. Staff was helpful but seemed rushed to get a table through.
Great view and great food
I had the evening dinner special, which was pork schnitzel, with spatzel, braised cabbage, and grilled veggies. All of the veggies and the spatzel were soaking in grease. I could have squeezed the grease out of the Brussels sprout. The schnitzel had absolutely no flavour, and adding salt and pepper didnt help. I ate the schnitzel as I was starving, but the rest kept swimming in grease. Since I was still hungry, I decided to have the New York Cheese cake for dessert. It had some strawberries and tart raspberries on it, and it was delicious. I would have that for dinner next time. I had 2 Moscow Mules to drink, and they were also excellent. As far as the service went, I would have to say it was way above par. My server and a young fellow working there were beyond excellent. They were very attentive to all customers, without being an annoyance. I wish I knew their names. I will definitely go to the Timber Room again and try something else on their menu. Even if I dont eat, I would go for the service and drinks. Parking: Lots of room to park Wheelchair accessibility: Easy for someone in a wheelchair to get in and out.
Nice restaurant with beautiful timber on the golf course. The truffle burger was delicious! A little on the pricier side.
Good food. Great service
Sad to say but the quality has tanked, its to bad, was my goto place for good grub.
Awesome venue, great food, and best customer service!! Thank you, well be back soon!! Food
Great food and service
Three of us stopped in for lunch. They don t open until noon, so we had a wait but because the clubhouse is in the Crown Isle resort area, it was convenient. We sat inside because it was too hot outside. Their outside seating area is so pretty with all of the flower pots. I ordered the soup and sandwich of the day which was a carrot, ginger, curry soup and Rueben sandwich for 15.50. The soup was delicious, the sandwich was okay. One person in our party ordered the salt and pepper chicken wings (well done) - delicious! The third person ordered the cup of chowder which was served with a focaccia bread. She said it was really good. I d recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.
Great place, great food
Really nice staff and great food
One star for location. Poor quality of meat, fries, fish . I suspect a lot are pre-frozen meals. A golf course restaurant should have a good cuisine, sadly, Crown Isle does not. Dont order wine by the glass; they assume if it was opened the previous day, it should still be ok. Not so, especially the inexpensive wines they serve. A disappointment and totally unnecessary. A golfing community such as Crown Isle should have a decent cuisine. Maybe a new owner, because they have had several chefs who dont stay long, and no wonder if they dont have the budget to purchase good quality foods that they actually cook and dont defrost and microwave. And the décor is so old and tacky.
The patio here is great!
Good food and a great view
Yes...it was as delicious as it looks. Curry coconut noodle & shrimp, portabello chicken burger Food
Good food, great service and a lot of wonderful people...is a busy place, do yourself a favour and make a reservation.
Food and service was excellent. Lovely setting
First impression, we remarked on the nice decor with the wood walls, painting, etc. The service was great! Thanks to Sophie who offered to split our entré into two dishes as we only wanted a small portion each. She happily put the Seahawks game on the TV for us as well, replacing the painting workshop show. ;-). When we told her we may be back the following day for dinner as we were staying for a few days, she offered to make us a reservation. Those small gestures made us feel welcomed and we hope Sophie will be recognized for her genuine kindness and hospitality.
Food was delicious and well priced, staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had a baby with us that was a bit fussy so I had to go outside to calm him down. Our waitress (sorry I cant remember her name) saw me outside and offered to keep my food warm. We were also given a table which gave us amble room to have the stroller.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meals!!
The Wild Sockeye Salmon was cooked to perfection and the supporting New Potatoes and Veggies were delicious! Brilliant Meal and a lovely setting. THANKS!
Enjoyed two appys which my husband and I shared.
Thanks for the excellent customer service Tyler and Sarah!
Staff are very friendly, order the salmon burger which was good but the salmon was so small it covered only half the bun
Really nice server, quick and courteous service as well.
Super service, nice fireplace and food
Great breakfast on the weekends
Went for 530pm dinner and we were a group of 8. We werent all squished in, lots of room. Food was delicious, we had Roast Beef Yorkies and the Clam Chowder. Service was excellent. Love the comfy chairs. Everything was awesome! Highly recommend!
Excellent food and service. We will return for sure.
Amazing food, great staff and fair prices. The atmosphere was great, and the staff were attentive.
My beef burger was only partially cooked - still red on the inside (and its not a thick burger). Not acceptable.... the staff saw fit yo knock 40% off the price of the hamburger.
Kind of run down and outdated decor. Looks like its past due for a refresh.
We has a private dining room for a private work party and the food and service was great. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable.
The staff were very friendly the steak had alot of chewy portions but overall it was good. My wife had a salad and she was very pleased with it. I think we will be back and try something else.
Our first visit, but wont be our last. Excellent martinis, great prime rib, and outstanding service from Martin. Most pleasantly surprised to find this spot so close to home.
The service was really good, however I thought it was overpriced and the food was mediocre at best. Had a salad with disgusting pears in it and a steak that was smaller than my hand. It was over cooked and had no taste. Would not recommend or return.
Good food, Good Service but lousy flat beers. And staff know.
All around great place daughter had a wrap & soup, i went with burger and fries. Staff were very polite, helpful and kind. They were knocked off thier feet as it seems we just happened to hit a mid day rush, not once did i see any of them just standing around. Place is very sanitized :) tables etc were cleaned as soon as cleared of guest/s. Thank you for a great experience
cool
Beef dip. Yum. Pesto chicken. Yum. Great summer deck.
Good food decent prices
Good food, cold beer
This is a very good spot to have a bite to eat or drink. Whether your staying at the crown isle or not, its a good option for reasonably priced tasty food and drinks. If you happen to catch happy hour it makes it an even better choice for cheaper appys and select drinks.
Great food. Wonderful service
I had the duck breast and it was delicious. Highly recommend. My husband had the prime rib special and said it was very good.
Nachos to share, a nice house red and a beauty med-rare striploin with seafood chowder. Awesome Shay service and the Crown Isle has great views over a premier golf course.
Good food! Good service ! Drinks could have come a little faster but over all great dinner ! Also very accomadating for people on Keto !
Always amazing
Missing entree, very small portions on fries appetizers. Not the 1st time disappointed but thought would give anouther try. When called re missing items was only told would deliver as soon as possible..
The BEST patio in the Comox Valley! Beautiful views of the glacier, delicious food and great service!
Great atmosphere and service. Delicious food and they also serve Cumberland Fog! Will be back again and again.
Meh
Beautiful place, good service and tasty food. I had wonderful evening there.
This restaurant is on the UP!! Food is good and consistent and service is attentive. Great place for date night or night out with family. Recommend for sure!!!
I ordered take out from Crown Isle on Friday, and I ordered the prime rib dinner. The meal was ready on time and was absolutely delicious! The beef was very tender, the mashed potatoes were creamy, the gravy was very tasty and the and Yorkshire Pudding was so good. This is the second time I have ordered this meal and this time, there was something extra special about it. My compliments to the chef and the team:)
Not all that was expected
Beautiful location and the food was very good. None of the 6 people at the table had a bad thing to say. Weather helped as well. Gorgeous.
We dined there twice during our stay despite reading the bad reviews (we had pleasant experiences years ago so we gave it a shot). I had the king crab pasta the first night and the salmon entree the second night. My partner had a burger one night and a chicken dish the 2nd night. The wine list was very reasonably priced. I was pleasantly surprised that my Burrowing Owl Merlot was pretty much at liquor store cost (!!!). The service was good but I think some complaints may be because it can get suddenly very busy from golfers finishing at the same time as hotel guest dining, which is completely understandable as this can be hard to predict.
The food is always deluxe, and they have the tables spaced out appropriately for covid-19.
We were a group of 6, had super bad service. Waiter was very annoyed , kept rolling his eyes. We couldn t even get cutlery. Waiter brought over 1 fork and said they were out of cutlery. How do you run out of flatware ? We couldn t even get a 2nd drink. It was so bad, we felt like we were on a reality show, felt like we were on candid camera. I am from Vancouver and have never experienced anything this bad ever. We won t be back.
Drank to much and got harassed out the door. Good place but beer is to strong. Dont remember anything from that night.
Had a great anniversary dinner here with my partner after a long day on the slopes. Aside from the ridiculous and unprofessional comment when calling in to make a reservation that went something along the lines of Uh, why do you need a reservation, no one is here, haha.... Our real server (buddy with a beard) was exceptional, attentive, and accommodating. The food was great all around with the vegetables sides being cooked to some of the best standards I have ever had, its not often you enjoy the greens more than your steak when the steak is on point. One point of criticism would be that our starters were not hot, but warm. Just enough that question it a bit, specifically with a french onion soup. We would certainly go back and would recommend the restaurant. The ambiance is great and the building itself west coast and warm as per its name.
Beautiful facility. Old world grandeur. Great service, good food, bright lounge with very high ceilings, tall windows, Canadian logging history on display. Chairs are a little tired on seat cushion, but dont let that keep you away. Pleased they have vegetarian and gluten free options. Nicely done.
Very limited lunch menu that was more of a dinner menu. Seem to be trying to hard to be fancy. Need to go back to basics. Food was good but wont return for lunch.
Food was good, service started out great, and then felt ignored......
Good views. Good food. Great sandwiches
Quite mediocre, below avg fries, brown wilted mint in the mojito, smaller fish portion. Braised rib was good, as was the strong bow
Great food and drink options, all very well prepared. Beautiful scenic seating with golf course/mountain views. Patio tables available.
Cool place. Nice spot to end up after a game of golf.
Salmon was great
Excellent food and drinks and good prices. Lovely atmosphere, service was great.
The fish taco I had at lunch today was the worst I have ever had...the food is generally ok but this was not unfortunately I am sad to say. Very disappointed.
Beautiful room and grounds. Would love to visit there again. Also very clean.
The service was slow even though there are less than 5 tables left. The food was bland and overcooked. The drinks took forever in the first round and second round. We joked that we feel like we were invisible there.
Sweet potato fries were bad salad was bad and my boyfriends burger was awful... very sad
Food was good, staff was nice but unattentitive to drinks or plates. Waiters and bar staff stood at bar visiting each other with tables left on their own. It s a shame that a decent location in the valley would be such a let down. It should be a desirable place for people to go but there are so many other establishments to go for food or drink with superior service and fare.
Excellent food and service. Prices arent to bad either.
Comfy warm pleasant atmosphere
Service was very slow. Even the hostess apologized that a server had not tended to us yet. Overcharged on our bill, fish and chips are the worst in town. Overall food and service very poor and we over paid. Will not return.
Crown isle burger! Nom nom nom
Worst Fish and Chips ever. Thin fish fillet puffed up with lots of batter and cold McDonalds type french fries. Note to chef. Chips should be fresh cut and a minimum one half inch thick , otherwise be honest and reprint your menu as Shoe String fries.
Great staff and food. Quality to cost is good and the view is great. On a cold day the lower restaurant has a nice fireplace. The seats in the lower area could be firmer and taller, but Im 6 foot and 220. Might be fine for others
The timber room is incredible ....the food is so so and the staff are all fantastic . This should be your go to pub for a hockey game or a romantic glass of wine. Dont let the name scare you from a casual night of fun. This is one of the best pubs ....in Courtenay.
I go the often and the staff are super friendly , the food is awesome some portions are a little small decor is very nice and the flowers outside are fab.
