Ordered regular and spicy agedashi tofu, and a couple of vegetarian rolls for pick up, they were well made, fresh and tasted good. Service was very friendly. Definitely would come back!

Very good sushi, good portion sizes, reasonable prices. Ordered way too much food, as I was expecting smaller portions based on the price point. But it was all quite good. Room is a little plain, but the quality makes up for it.

Tuna sashimi was excellent. Service was great and good turnaround time especially with how busy it was.

The food is always awesome, the sashimi salmon is always fresh, the servers are always friendly no matter how busy it is and always greet you with a genuine, friendly smile, always consistent

We try to come here almost every with for lunch and each time we have the same young lady who is absolutely amazing. She always remembers to bring us gluten free soy. The food is always excellent.

Cant believe I slept on this place for so long - I guess its habit to go to the same places... But if you are a fan for Japanese or Korean food than you MUST support Sushi Jo!!! Its also an introverts paradise with the partitioning between tables. The servers are so sweet and efficient and you get to watch the chef do his thing. Love it here. Edit: Came on a busy Saturday night, and likely wont do that again. The energy was totally different. Food still great.

Was advised of delayed food service ahead of our meal. Despite the enormous amount of take out orders, our food was not too slow.

Our go to Sushi place. Anytime we are in Cortney, we make a point of eating here. Food is always great and the staff are very friendly and attentive.

Went here while on a volleyball weekend tournament, had high expectations with such a high rating but was met with none of that. Wasn t very aesthetically pleasing either. I ordered the veggie udon and ramen, the ramen tasted like instant cup noodles without a doubt. Same did the udon, as someome who oftens asian cuisine and is an asian myself i felt a bit offended to be served such low food.

Friendly staff. Clean place. Love the booths with a little privacy. Pricing on par. Menu has plenty items. We had tempura prawns which was served nice, fresh and hot. California rolls can be ordered with imitation crab or for few dollars more real crab. Very nice. Vegetarian options: Not sure about how much just saw it on the menu. Parking: We parked on the street which for a Saturday there was plenty of 2 hour free parking. I think there is parking beside the restaurant but not sure.

You get your own booth and good service

The food was excellent. No wonder the restaurant was so busy, maybe even too busy for the service to keep up. We waited for half an hour for the first dish, then about another 10 minutes for the second. Finally, we received our sushi rolls last, satisfying our hungry stomachs. It was so busy that I saw waitress were literally jogging around for cleaning tables etc

Scrumptious. Rolls and tempura were on point. Sake was warm, beer was cold.

Thanks for your replies but I still have a few points to make. First, there were not many people around four oclock in the afternoon. We didnt order a lot of food, but it took nearly an hour to cook. We were in a hurry on our way back to Victoria which greatly delayed our trip. Second, the service from the waiter was very slow, we tried to ask the waiter to add some water, but no one bothered us. They didnt tell us no entry until we went there ourselves. Third, regarding tipping, we were very unhappy so we didn t tip a lot, but the waiter actually watched us swiping the card. When she saw that we gave a small tip, she took the card machine away and asked us to pay again. Tipping is for customers freedom, I dont think anyone in the restaurant can interfere with our choices. Finally, although your food is very delicious, I hope you can improve, thank you!

No idea why this place is so highly rated. The restaurant is well laid out and I really like the individual dining nooks. Besides that it was a complete let down. Bad fish, rolls, and miso. Will not be returning. Update: Why you would passive aggressively reply to my review 9 months later I have no idea. First of all I ate only a couple pieces of my roll, a single nagiri (of the 4 I ordered) and about half my miso. I took the rest of the sushi in a to go box (that I threw out back at the Air bnb) as I did not want to be rude. Second I did tell the waitress that the fish tasted off. Beyond that I dont know what exactly you want people to do?

Dividers so your table is its own experience, introverts paradise. The food is absolutely incredible! Even the California roll as basic as it may be had way more flavour then all the other California rolls I ever had. This is a sushi lovers dream. 11/10 not joking. Oh and get the tiger roll! I want to go back and get another.

Super busy Sunday for them when we arrived, they helped everyone and food was great!!

Stopped here for a takeout sushi craving. I have not had food here before, as its not local for us. Ordered the oyster fry appy, which was freaking DELICIOUS, and the Crazy Jo California roll, as well as Tiger and ...well, everything was gone so fast, I didnt even take pictures. THAT is saying something, considering it had to drive an hour to get home, and it was still fabulous. There was a 40 minute wait at 6pm on a Sunday evening, and when I stepped back in a 6:30 to pick up the order which was ready on time, there was a lineup of people waiting to dine in. I can see why. There is parking on the side street, which is where I waited, so I wouldnt be taking up space in their busy establishment. The server was lovely, greeted immediately at the door and immediately provided a menu and took my takeout order within moments, as well as answered the few questions I had regarding items without issue. She also recognized me immediately when I returned for the order, and I would highly recommend this place based on this first impression. If you call in your order for pickup, you can avoid the wait and review the entire menu online, which is what Ill do next time were in town. The food was fresh and the presentation even in a takeout box was worth the stop. Ill be back. :)

Delicious food and fantastic service! We went on a Friday night, which seems to be a very busy night for them. Despite the kitchen being backed up and the waitresses being berated on the phone for needed to turn away orders, they always came over to us with a smile on their face. We got an order of edamame on the house for our wait, which was so unexpected and we couldn t have been more grateful. Will definitely be back, especially after seeing how well they managed to handle such a high stress evening.

We were looking for gluten free options and something hot to eat. The Chef and server were very careful and created a hot sushi. I added the cool cucumber salad . It was delicious. Its a corner location so difficult to create a cozy experience. Easy to find which offsets cozy by a long way.

I eat here often. And I recommend it to others often. Excellent food, reasonable prices and very pleasant staff. One of my favourite restaurants in the Comox Valley.

I absolutely love this place, Ive been to a few other sushi joints in town and this is by far my favourite, really good prices too. You wont get better food or better service than Sushi Jo. The food is melt in your mouth fresh, and the servers are so kind and attentive. I refuse to go anywhere else when I need my sushi fix.

Really good sushi, will definitely be back. They were a little understaffed when we went, and you could tell the staff were hustling hard to make up for the missing body. Great service in the end, great food, and a really clean interior.

The ramen taste like cup noodle with some veg, there is no broth in soupe. No Price indicated for extra chicken and beef, finally been charged more than twice than the price told by waiter....

Very busy with only 1 waitress. Waited 15 minutes to get seated Not because no seats available. Answering phone and taking orders while patrons wait to be served ( take order) Also playing regular music instead of Japanese music to fit the decor. Need 2 waitress especially on a Friday night. I know hard to find help. 30 minutes and no appts yet.

Best Wonton Soup. EvER The service is great, I was offered a wealth of information which had me trying many new things. The sushi was executed beautifully and tasted fantastic! I will be back likely more times than I want to admit.

A hidden gem in the Comox Valley. I ve eaten sushi all over Canada and this is hands down one of the best. The fish is so incredibly fresh, the staff is super friendly and it s very reasonably priced. I d give 10 stars if I could! I wish I took pictures before I devoured my meal

Yummy. Good sushi in the valley. Love the tuna tataki, jo crunch roll is delish, tempura spot on. Great service. Only thing I would suggest is the noodle bowl couldve had more flavour and the chicken karaage is just sauced chicken wings. As someone who loves karaage its a bit disappointing to not get those beautiful fried chicken thighs with a dipping sauce that u expect when ordering karaage. Other than. Really good!

Best sushi in valley

After spending $34 (this included tip) for a seafood stack at another restaurant I was left very disappointed with the overall experience so I asked my wife to make one more stop before we headed home. We chose Sushi Jo due to the proximity of the afore mentioned restaurant. We chose correctly. The service was immediate and genuinely friendly. We ordered two rolls and the assorted tempura. Everything was perfect and we spent the same amount of money. Sushi Jo absolutely saved the day.

We stopped in for a lunchtime bento box. Food was exceptional. Restaurant clean and modern. Service excellent. Highly recommend.

Sashimi was great got the chef choice

We went to Sushi Jo today and the restaurant staff were incredible. I am on a specialized diet and they went out of their way to help us. We have always loved this restaurtant and each time we go back I know why.

Generous, fresh, quality ingredients and exceptional value. With the cost of business/supplies/labour having gone up exponentially in the past couple of years, I still cant believe the chirashi donburi was only $21.95 -- the serving size and variety were already generous, 4 sockeye and 3 toro were also included!!! -- what an incredible deal! Sockeye salmon was included in the nigiri combo also. The dynamite roll was excellent with the tempura nicely done. Service was excellent -- super prompt, friendly, efficient and clean. The seating was very comfortable and spacious with partitioned walls that provided both privacy and pandemic social distancing.

OMG!!! Amazing flavours! One of the valleys premier sushi restaurants.

The sushi were delicious and the server gave us good service. The long wait to get our sushi was not as great however. It felt like we waited forever to get our food, but they also had a full house that evening, which may have explain the cause of the wait. Overall I would definitely go back.

My brother and nephew and I went to Vancouver Isl. to visit our brother who lives in Union Bay. We decided to go out for lunch so my brother suggested Sushi Jo in Courteney. It was located in a quaint little area with a lot of locally owned businesses. One thing was parking is very hard to find because the area was bustling with shoppers. When we went in it was very nice inside. Newly renovated because my brother said they suffered a fire. It is a family runned business. We sat in a booth and was quickly served. We got tea and water and ordered. I had a Beef Udon and my brothers had other dishes. The food was really good and the price was very reasonable. Totally will go here again when I visit my brother again.

Definitely the best sushi spot I had in the whole island. It is a bit of a drive from where I live but it is so worth the drive! The waitress was super friendly, the atmosphere was great + private and everything I ordered was fantastic! I highly recommend the toro nigiri/sashimi, red dragon roll and the beef oshi which was nicely torched. Will definitely be coming back anytime Im feeling sushi or just great food in general!

Kind, attentive service and the best quality sushi on the island. They have access to toro, bluefin tuna and uni for reasonable prices. The lunch boxes are very filling and everything from the salad to the sushi to the gyoza is well cooked. My family and I loved the restaurant and would return in a heartbeat.

I dont usually write reviews but we were so happy with our sushi tonight!! We usually order form a place in Comox thats great as well but we have been looking for something closer to home and we have found it that is even yummier! Highly recommend!

For those who havent come here and are considering it, or those on the fence, you need to come here, like yesterday. This place offers amazing vibes, its bright and has lots of warm colours, and the staff is amazing. They were playing some sort of 2000s pop music hits on the speakers which gave me a nostalgia trip I wasnt expecting but was gladly accepted. The food is amazing. Try the dynamite rolls with real crab, or the beef teriyaki. Out of the park levels of good. Best I have tasted in the Valley for sure.

I have eaten here many times both in the restaurant and take out. I cant say that it is the best sushi in town but it is a close runner up and I think the best downtown. Thier prices are also quite good value and the staff very friendly and accommodating. I dont like spicy foods and often order a combo platter and they have always been happy to accommodate my tastes. They are doing very well and I wish them continued success.
