I'm not even finished my food and I had to leave a review. This has gotta be the best food truck I've ever gotten food from. The burger is unreal and the polenta fries are to die for. Highly recommend going here if you've never been. Can't believe it took me this long to try out.
I had to try Black Market Food Truck after seeing all the high praise on Google, and it did not disappoint! The food was excellent, and the crispy rib stood out as absolutely outstanding. The flavors were spot on, and everything was cooked to perfection. Definitely worth the hype, and I’ll be coming back for more!
Here we are again. This time my wife went with her burger which she once more devoured with delight and I tried the Ramen. I am not yet a hot spice person and was delighted that the cook used his expertise with veggies, herbs and spices to give the dish a heightened taste without the added fire which seems to be prevalent nowadays. Ate half and had the other half later that day. A lot of food in that container. Once more, really impressed with the food taste/presentation. Still need to try the ribs before the menu changes. Definitely a 5 all the way.
1st visit. Wife said “Best Burger” ever. Will now use Black Market Burger as her measuring stick for any to follow. I had the Shrimp & Smoked Salmon Linguine which I rate very highly. I now have been scolding myself for taking so long to find this hidden gem of a food truck. Definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a great meal.
Oh my god, I’ve never wanted to make love to my food like I did the chicken and brie sandwich I had here today. The marriage of flavours between the balsamic onion jam, the garlic mayo, the crispy onion and the herbs of the chicken.. made me never want the burger to end. It was a whole delicious mess of absolute perfection, and I’m sharing the pic of it half eaten because why not. It was the best chicken burger I’ve ever had.
Cooked to order, fresh, huge portion sizes, worth the money! They were able to accommodate my food allergy which was fantastic. I tried my partner’s polenta fries and those were amazing as well.
Just had my first experience with Black Market today, I found many things appealing about this food truck. The menu had some great picks, but I had to try their burger to start, super glad I did! The bun was fresh and fluffy, the sauce used on the burger was to die for, onion rings crisped to perfection and the bacon must have been sourced locally because it was phenomenal. The location was perfect to me, easy to find, off a main drag so it wasn't busy for parking or people and very simple to locate. The staff were super friendly and seemed genuinely curious how the food was to us, which was great. Overall I'm super impressed with this food truck, I feel the menu could be expanded a touch but considering ability to store fresh ingredients in a small food truck, I'll take a slightly smaller menu to the quality of their food any day!
Hands down the best food truck experience you’ll ever have. Everything here is amazing, high quality ingredients and fresh. Incredibly tasty and a cut above most restaurants for what’s available. Be prepared to wait, they are busy and it’s not like going to a fast food restaurant. You can call ahead and then pick up without waiting in line and for preparation. It’s completely worth the wait if you don’t plan ahead. You’ll be back as everything on the menu is beyond delicious!

I hate winter in the Comox Valley because I cant get DELICIOUS food from the Black Market Food Truck! Thank goodness its spring again and they are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Highly recommend EVERYTHING ON THE MENU!
Chicken sandwich and polenta fries are delicious
Unbelievably good food out of this little truck. We had the burger and the chicken sandwich. To start, the freshest of buns. So hard to find a burger with a great bun. The chicken sandwich had kimchi on it and it turns out I m a huge fan. Who knew!? We sat outside in the nice weather at their little table and had our best meal out in months. Parking: There s parking next to the truck and on the street.
Hands down best food experience Ive had in Comox Valley. Delicious.
I visit VanIsl from Manitoba every 2 years and the first thing I want is Black Market Polenta Fries. I spend the time in between thinking about the next time I can have them.
Polenta fries and tempura cauliflower will bring me back. Service was great and very friendly owners.
If you havent tried this yet, drop everything and go! I have only recently given this incredible food truck a try and EVERYTHING is amazing. Polenra fries are perfection and the ramen is a show stopper. Go to the Black Market Food Truck today.
These guys made our day with the best ramen on the island. Everything on the menu is amazing though. We stop here every time we are in town. Be sure to order ahead, it s a popular place but the wait is worth it.

Just ate here for the first time and the food was UNREAL! I had no idea this gem of a food truck was in the Comox Valley. We had the Shrimp and smoked salmon linguini and polenta fries. Both were Amazing amazing amazing! Definitely going back to try more of the menu.
My guy had the burger with polenta fries and I had pasta with prawns, smoked salmon, cherry tomatoes and spinach in a dill cream sauce. One of the best food experiences we ve had on the Island. Owners were SO friendly and helpful. Just outstanding! We can t wait to go back.
We had the crispy ribs this afternoon. They were so delicious! OMG! They price was perfect...5 large pork ribs for $16....worth every dollar. We will be back. Parking: The parking is limited, but worth any walking you need to do.

First time trying this place & ordered lunch for our crew the day of... had to wait a few extra minutes past pickup time but completely understandable/worth it for the quality of the food. Delicious & creative! Weve got some picky folks here and everyone was very satisfied. Only negative= Didnt wanna go back to work after.. reflection nap needed ;) YUM.

Its hot and Im not cooking, man I tried the chilled noodle salad and my partner had ramen. Both delicious! Somehow light and refreshing and also filling. Lots on the menu to try next time, too. Thanks, friends!
The ramen is just so awesomely awesome sauce good! Had to wait 45 minutes today because they are so busy, but thats a good sign. Well worth the wait!
I ve had three different dishes here and they ALL were amazing! The ramen was sweet and spicy and creamy and the polenta fries with that creamy sweet Thai chili sauce is outstanding!

Fantastic Korean fried chicken sandwich. The cauliflower tempura was surprising and delicious. Dont try to eat the sandwich in your car. It is a bit messy.
On a cold damp morning the Korean Chicken and the Cauliflower Tempura were perfectly executed. We left warmed and happy.
The spare ribs and the cauliflower bites are awesome. The chicken sammy is also very good. They just always sell out early so pre ordering is key.
Went and ordered 3 black Market burgs and 2 orders of there ribs. The simplicity and elegance of the food satisfied cravings I didnt know I had. 9/10!

Sooo delicious, and the chef is super accommodating with diet restrictions - I had the stir fry with cauliflower instead of pork and it was insanely good. Huge portion size too!

Amazing food! We had the burger, chicken sandwich and polenta fries. The taste is lingering on my taste buds and I dont want it to go away! Polenta fries with that gojujang sauce are a game changer for me, and just the flavours of everything melted our brains. So good!

Real food! Had a Mexican chicken burger and Korean chicken burger. Both were amazing. The flavors and textures blended well and nothing was over powering. Cant wait to go back again!

Mexican chicken burger was delightful and the polenta fries were the best Ive ever had. How have I never visited before!?!? Highly recommend although you might want to call and pre order. They get slammed around lunch.
The ramen is possibly the best thing that I have ever eaten. I want to eat it everyday. The Korean chicken burger and polenta fries are crunchy, sweet, spicy perfection. Black Market Food Truck is absolutely amazing!
I can t comment on the food, but we were extremely disappointed to have driven out of our way on a Friday afternoon to be turned away saying that they couldn t take any more orders for the day because they were slammed with online orders. We were the only people there (in person) and we were there 1.5 hours before they closed.
Best food Ive had in a LONG time, including from a restaurant!!! Well worth the wait. Call ahead to order if youre in a hurry. Hubby says one of the best burgers hes ever had! I had the Korean chicken sandwich- to die for. Dont even get me started on the cauliflower tempura and polenta fries. Cant wait to go back next time!!

Amazing, you have to try this guy!
A 4.5 for the food. Good burger, and the polenta fries made the experience interesting. Wish Id tried the Korean burger and sad that they were out of cauliflower bites. Mexican one lives up to its spicy name. 1.5 hr wait though, and my impression is that that is standard (and you wont see an actual line up). Call way ahead if youre trying to plan this for a specific time.

It is a hidden jewel. Chef Jesse is a star who puts his heart and soul into his food. His partner on the service side is ever smiling and does a great job. Its amazing food that is difficult to find elsewhere. Five star all around.
Best burger in town!
Went for lunch yesterday for the first time and it was really good. Had the Korean kimchi burger and it is full of flavor. Hubby had the chanterelle pasta special ( which of course he shared with me) and it was excellent also. Will definatley be back to try other menu options!!
Very nice selection of entrees if a bit small but hey theyre a truck. We had tuna, mushroom in pasta and their burger..all uniformly good and generously sized. Hope they keep on keeping on The equal of any big city food truck Ive tried
Food is amazing! Order ahead as others know how great the food is. I had the Korean Chicken Kimchi buger with cauliflower bites and my husband had the Black Market burger with cauliflower bites. So good. Id like to try everything on their menu. We will return next time we are in Courtenay!
Probably the best food truck food Ive ever had. I had the tuna and yes, it is a bit expensive, but for the amount of tuna you get, the quality and the flavors, its absolutely worth it! Cant wait to go back and try more of their food.
Oh boy! This place is great! I had a spicy mexican sandwich combo with polenta fries and a side of tempura cauliflower. So good! Call ahead and place your order for pick up. The wait here can be sort of insane.

I finally stopped in. Glad i did. Had the Korean Chicken burger. Was the most juiciest chicken ive ever had. The deep fied cauliflower, had a nice crunch to the batter but tender inside. I will be back to try everything out on their menu.

Black Market continuously has incredible tasting food, no matter whats on the menu. Its always fresh and creative. The chanterelle bacon mac & cheese and the ramen are my favourite!
Last week I visited this food truck and had a Flavour explosion in my mouth ! I ordered their epic tempura cauliflower dish and a Mexican spiced chicken burger . If you like a little heat, then this burger will definitely hit the spot! It was also a perfect sunny day to enjoy their picnic area. Next time I m going for the tuna !
