For my palette it was perfect. I can not stand heavily salted food. No msg I can tell. Perfectly cooked veggies and generous portions. Lots of dumplings in their work wonton.
Big servings, very good broth, quality ingredients, awesome service 👏
It's a family owned restaurant. Pho was amazing! Great service and really nice atmosphere.
Finally found a Chinese restaurant that was open. Once there was salt added to the wonton, it was awesome. It’s hard to find good wonton soup anymore. But the chicken chowmein had no flavour whatsoever & was dry with dry little strips of chicken on top. When I told the girl she scowled at me. Then when I went to pay she had it on the bill. It was pretty much untouched, that’s how bad it was. I pointed and said, “You’re still going to charge me for that?” It was still on the table, we packed up the wonton leftovers. I was even apologetic, I felt bad saying anything in the first place. She stormed away, yelling in Chinese to the kitchen. Comes back, scribbles it out dramatically. What a disgusting display. I would have went back for wonton, but not a chance after that. She should not be working with the public.
Really wanted to like this place, I'm not a phở export but a regular at dozens of spots in larger cities for 20 years, but kept expectations low in the Comox Valley but…there are better places in the Valley that Maple. As soon as the very small, thin, emaciated spring rolls arrived (three for $8) with ketchup-style packets of sauce we knew we made a mistake. The phở itself was meh. No greens or sprouts served with it—never been to a phở place that neglected them before. No chilli oil. If Maple Noodle was the only place in town than it'd be…actually nah, even if it was the only place it's not worth it, esp. with better, less expensive options a five minute drive. At least the service wasn't bad—not great, but not bad—despite being the only table seated for half our meal.
Umm.. what kind of Pho is that! Figured I’d try something new since my regular place closed at 7pm. Ordered a large, which looked like a small portion Pho soup didn’t come with any chicken, spicy sauce, or the brown sweeter sauce. Chicken broth had absolutely NO flavour, and hardly any veggies! It was awful. Won’t be back. Do not recommend.
I had never been to this establishment before. Found them online. Looked up the menu. Ordered a dish what I thought was number 24 turned out to be number 22 lemongrass chicken with rice. And I'd asked about a side spring roll. As it was not listed on the menu with that item. Went to pick up my order and found out that the price is online. Were not the prices that the items are now. They were more expensive. Also found out that she sold me an appetizer side of spring rolls when my meal actually comes with two small spring rolls. Included. The proportion of rice was great. The proportion of chicken was pitiful. As well as the side salad that comes with it. I was not impressed as my meal cost me more than anticipated and was overloaded with rice and maybe one chicken thigh worth of chicken. It was flavorful so kudos there. But overall I will not go back and not recommend it. I have had better in a mall food court with a bigger portion of food for less cost. I understand that they are not a chain restaurant but for the price you pay I would expect more.
I understand that the price of food has gone up but this is not acceptable. There was hardly any meat. I ordered Charbroiled pork, chicken lemon grass and beef pho. The pork was very dry. Chicken was good but the portion was really small. They fill the container with rice and noodle.
Best in town
Very good Work Wonton Soup
Awesome food, wonderful server, who gave some great suggestions! Thank you!
We had a very tasty bowl of pho and a plate of Singapore noodles. Both were freshly prepared, the vegetables were fresh and crispy and the flavors were excellent. Its an unassuming place in a strip mall but probably the best Pho in the Comox Valley. Service was friendly and attentive.
My wife and I came in for supper. My wife had the Wor Wonton Soup and I had the Curried chicken broth on vermicelli bowl. Both were large servings and delicious. The food and service were excellent.
Trust me, I feel bad making this review but I feel compelled: the food was the blandest, most tasteless Vietnamese Ive ever eaten in my entire life!l. Absolutely no flavor to the Pho broth. Besides having no aroma, I could tell simply by looking at it it was going to be tasteless. The lemongrass chicken: absolutely no lemongrass was used in this dish. None. Simply generic Fried Chicken breast on top of a bed of tasteless White vermicelli noodles. And then the garden rolls, well.. you wouldnt think an establishment specializing in Vietnamese cuisine would screw up the most popular go to signature appetizer, but they did, because it was basically simply playing vermicelli noodles wrapped with rice paper and a tiny bit of iceberg lettuce and some tasteless shrimp - not even sweetened prawns. My goodness, how does a restaurants serve food with no flavor stay in business? Total waste of my hard earned money.
Charges $2.99 for jasmine tea, which they ve probably used same tea leaves over and over that entire day. Tasted like 99.9% water and 0.1% tea. And debit machine was broke. Cash only place. Why is it always the asian restaurants that debit machines are always happens to be not working? Interesting. Don t you dare be asking for tip. That tea charge should cover tip. Will not be visiting this place. Ever.
Family friendly restaurant with deliciously fresh food and excellent service! Local family run buissness! I highly recommend the lemongrass chicken! Weve never had a bad experience at this restaurant! Dietary restrictions: GF options!
Completely tasteless and the waitress was extremely unfriendly.
The wonton soup was good enough but the chicken chow mein was bland and gross. The presentation was terrible too. The waitress wasn t nice either. Never asked how the food was and was really snotty once we complained. I understand why she s upset but we did it in a nice way and even apologized. The atmosphere in the store is terrible too. It felt empty and unwelcoming.
Great service and the wonton soup and combo dish was a large serving with great taste
Super friendly staff - cheap good food!
We came in for take out and got some great recommendations. The wor wonton soup (especially in size L) is a massive portion and the broth is very nourishing on a cold day. Really great attentive service and would absolutely recommend!
Kid-friendliness: Waitress didnt come to ask if I needed anything, because she didnt ask if I needed anything I left the money on the table and walked out of course she did not check the table and i got asked for payment in the parking lot. pho soup had more bean sprouts than noodles definitely wont be going back
Delicious food, super friendly family. One of our favorite restaurants!
Great local restaurant. My dish was incredibly fresh and delicious. My husbands pho was HUUUGE and good value for a great price. Emily made sure our drinks were always filled and we were happy. She was the only waitress and seemed like she had everything in control, at all times. She was sweet, pleasant and informative. We will defiantly return in the future and recommend to all of our friends.
They have delious food, friendly service. Good people.
When we went past 2pm, customers were seated at tables, and a server came to take our order. After ordering and waiting for nearly 30 minutes, someone from another table left after not getting their food after waiting for a long time. I ordered fried rice with pork in it, but the pork was smaller than my fingernails and had really little meat in it, and the smell of the meat was so strong that I couldnt even eat half of it. My husband ordered pho, but the noodles were all cut short. It seemed to us that he had collected scraps and gave them away. After our meal, we saw the other table, and the customer received a regular noodle pho. My husband also left almost all the food, and we paid the bill and left. Were not going again.
Everything was 5 - 6 dollars more expensive than their online menu
I really liked it. Service was good. The food was tasty. I had noodles with chicken. I would recommend it.
Quaint and tasty. Will be back.
Pho is not their forte
Warm and fresh food made me happy.
Worste takeout pho Ive ever experienced. Bland, small portions, and they add everything instead of separate it. I lived in Vancouver for 12 years and this is sad. 52 dollars for 3 TINY salad rolls with yellow lettuce and 2 nasty pho with no flavor. Wont be back for anything even if Im told its good.
Bit under staffed, nice place, good pho
Really great food! The vietnamese coffee was amazing. We got the rare sliced beef pho and the wor wonton. Great portions! Super delicious and tasty. Very nice workers. Very happy with the meals we got. will be back very soon. Thanks for the yummy food!
Delish home made with love food
Cheap not up to par . They use chicken broth in there pho Wheelchair accessibility: It has it Food : 1/5 |
War wonton soup is fantastic and their spring rolls are on point!
I had a very disappointing experience. I placed an order over the phone at 1130am to pick up at 1pm and I arrived 10 mins late due to traffic in town. They take my payment first and then tells me it will just be a few minutes. I asked if it was not ready yet then she explains that they had a rush at lunch and forgot it. If I knew they hadnt even started making it, i wouldve went somewhere else. I didnt like that they took my payment first without explaining. Now im stuck waiting for my food and they gave me a complementary can of coke to make up for their mistake which was a nice gesture. After waiting 15 minutes for my food, I was very surprised with the portion. The broth container was about the half of what Id get at other pho places in town. They gave me a cooked noodle in ziplock bag size of my fist which is also less than half of what Id get in other places. The broth was bland and it didnt come with any of the sauces. I was charged almost 90 dollars for 4 large soup and an order of deep-fried wonton which were also very small in size. I absolutely understand the price of food is expensive and they had to raise the price but this is sad.
New ownership and they are putting out quality meals at good prices. The service was cheerful, attentive and overall, a very pleasant experience. We will most definitely be going for seconds.
New owners, new menu. Gove them a chance. I had the pork & spring roll vermicelli and it was pretty good. The pork was a little thin though. I wished they would make larger spring rolls. It was tasty and of course like everything else these days, prices are up. The service was very good. I will certainly go back because good Asian food is hard to come by in the Comox Valley.
Delicious as always! Highly recommend #22! Lemongrass chicken on vermicelli with spring rolls! so light and flavorful! You have to try! Im going to try the wor wonton next Ive heard its amazing too!
Sadly since new owners have taken over, the quality and portion size have gone down and the price has gone up. I called and let them know and they are unconcerned... This place used to be my favorite which I ordered from every couple weeks, I will be ordering from Saigon Noodle house from now on.
Really good and really friendly! Wonderful food. I ll go again
Quality has gone down with new owners, been here many times before. We had beef pho and chow mein/chicken balls combo. Pho had very little flavor, worse than grocery store broth. No sprouts, basil, lime on the side. They serve it with the sprouts in it already. Small serving with not much noodles. Price is higher. Chow Mein was a good portion size, but it didnt have much flavor to it. The chow mein noodles were totally wrong ones, very thick instead of the usual ones. Service is good at least, but we will not be coming back here.
I used to order chicken pho once a week with my family...since new owners the quality has gone way down! Portions are less. Salad rolls are so much smaller. The pho broth was the best I had ever had....I miss it so much. It doesnt even come close and I wont be back. The new owners should have kept the old recipes....they may think they are saving money but they are losing the regular customers.
Food was good. Lot more flavor than last owner
Incredible food!!
Excellent food ! Good sized portions. Very friendly staff.
Always love coming for the quiet environment and the best home feel cooked pho.
Always great food!
Friendly fast,good food
Husband loves their food
One of our favorite spots to eat out. Food is always great and flavorful, service is good, quick, and we have the sweet coffee almost every time we visit, its so yummy!
Good pho. Good service.
Its ok. Very thin meat in the vermicelli.
Freindly staff, quick service, fresh produce, eat in or take out. Vietnamese and chinese flavors. Free parking and price is affordable.
Good food.
Food was great!!! Staff super friendly and helpful!!!
Friendly staff
Great food, great service. Variety of Asian offerings on the menu.
I was a bit nervous after reading the negative reviews that this place went downhill when it switched owners, but I was pleasantly surprised this evening by the food and service. I m not sure if the take-out is different as we ate inside, but I found the portions and food to be exactly the same as before. The new owners and waitress were extremely friendly and accommodating.
Chicken Pho very good, generous
Amazing food, amazing service. Hidden gem! We will be back!
Favorite place in the valley.
Had some good food, friendly family-run place! Parking: Lots of parking Wheelchair accessibility: A little tight but definitely accessible
The war wonton soup was made with very fresh ingredients, delicious. Staff is very friendly.
My favourite!!!!
Please dont listen to the complainers... went there and food is still excellent. we all really have to consider all that we and especially restaurants have gone through over the time with the pandemic. Give them a chance please
Good PHO
The Best! Love the #20
Pho from her is always excellent.
Ok, not awesome. If you are starving, it does the trick.
Pho was super salty, medium was more like a small & bean sprouts added, no addins for the side.. the chili oil is shrimpy, if you like that. Spring rolls crunchy with like spicy plum sauce.. probably wont come back for pho but the Chinese food looks good.
The price is as much as Vancouver, but the quality is not!
Great broth in the Pho and friendly people.
Good fast food. A very nice family business.
I have had the beef and broccoli here previously and it was good, the pho on the other hand was very bland.
I go here often for lunch during the work week, its one of my favorite places. The special beef pho and salad rolls are excellent!
Ordered takeout beef ball pho & spring rolls on vermicelli. Pho was hot with lots of meat & five spice with fresh sprouts. Tasty! Spring rolls were very crisp & full of flavor. Waitress was super friendly and polite. Great food & price! New owners are doing a fantastic job here.
Great food & service!
Best Vietnamese food on the island! I love #18. Everything is always fresh and the farjer makes the best minced chillies!
Great pho at a reasonable price
Always delicious, great service and good value
Yummy Yummy and easy on the wallet
Good place for lunch
The best vietnamese in the valley
Was there for lunch today(hoping their soup would help with the cold I am battling) and after eating about a quarter of my bowl of soup, I noticed there was something in it. I called the waitress and she took my bowl back to kitchen. She came back with what appeared to be a napkin on a plate. She showed it to me and said we don t put napkins in our soup, implying that I do! That was that, no apology, no lunch, NOTHING! When we went to the front to pay for my partners lunch I was shocked that they charged me full price for my soup which I didn t get the opportunity to eat. Over 30 bucks for a medium soup and a tea. When I questioned that, the owners were very rude and again said they don t put napkins in their soup! Wasn t about to get in an argument so we paid the bill, NEVER TO RETURN AGAIN AND I HOPE THEY REALIZE THAT WORD OF MOUTH GOES A LONG WAY! Just a note: We ve been there many times and have always enjoyed our food. Too bad customer service is soooo lacking.
Love this place ! Amazing food
I went there because of the reviews, the food sucks, never going back again
$30 for 2 large wonton soups is a RIP OFF.. the bowls are small and definitely not filling. If you want good food, great portions and want to save a few bucks eat at the golden carriage. I ll never eat here again after seeing the amount of food I DONT GET for the amount of money they charge.
Excellent meal! Large portions, full of flavor, friendly staff and great prices. Highly recommend.
Wonderful staff and food!
Sat down. Waited. Waited some more. Other cutomers came in. Sat down got served. I waited so.e more. Then i left. The establishment smelled.
Always great
Amazing food , had pho for the first time an absolutely loved it
Had a great first experience. Spring Roll Vermicelli was delicious, fast and good price too.
So food the fod is great
Delicious food, great service, nice people. One of our favorites.
Service was average at best (from what I could see, one of the servers/cashiers was also preparing meals in the kitchen?) and food quality was sub-par compared to most pho places I have eaten at. I had a beef noodle soup, and found the flavour was bland and it had barely any meat in it. Some of the plates I saw on other tables looked alright, but I usually go to a pho place for the soup.
Good food at a great price.
Disappointed with our meal. The broth was bland, the meat portions small and the deep fried spring rolls had very little filling.
Awsome affordable food , We had Heidi for a sever she was also great !
Best Pho that I have had on the Island so far.
This place is awesome on so many levels. Food great, prices greats, service awesome. Persona favorites are the the hot and spicy soup or wor won ton.
Just not good. Pho was strange tasting, almost sour. Saracha clearly watered down. Im not picky at all but this was just not good. Left feeling ripped off. Sorry.
Good
Best in town
Good pho but watered down soup
Soooooo good
Wicked food and well priced one of my faves
1 of 3 spring rolls, so fast, fresh and, hot. Ate 2 before the picture was taken. Crispy and tasty.
Okay place. Pretty bland Vietnamese food. Not worth the hype.
I love this place
Decent pho for Courtenay. Highly recommend checking it out if youre passing through. Staff are great.
Great food
One of the best noodle houses in the area. Always a great place to go have a hot bowl of noodles. Some good conversation do yourself a favour stop in sometime.
Good food as always. Been going there for a few years now usually for lunch. Nice staff
Tasty Pho soup and Singapore rice noodle. Always good food and service.
Great food.
Good good and best price in town
Was ok, broth was lacking the traditional Vietnamese flavors. Didnt come with extra bean sprouts, basil and fresh chilli.
Awesome soup and great food
Singapore noodles
Amazing food! Great service, very fast and efficient. Will be returning!
Prices are a tad higher than I expect for pho, but other than that this place is great :) They also have chinese food options for those who are afraid to dive into a full course of pho
Fast and delicious
Great pho, reasonably priced, large portions and friendly staff
Number 19.... my favorite
Great food
Really nice people, really mediocre pho.
Excellent food and service . Wanton are the best I have ever eaten, lovely people.
Like spicy food this is the place.
Favourite place to eat in town. Been eating here for years. I never write reviews of places, but in this case i thought id show some apreciation.
Yummy food
All those 5 stars must be given by friends because no one in their right mind will give this place more than a star. Horrible food, not even close to Vietnamese or anything ateable for that matter!
Very good Pho. Great chinese food as well. Who knew.
Excellent food and friendly staff
Great food and friendly. Easy access
Best pho i have had on the island to date and the owners and or staff where the best love this place
Yummy pho 2nd spring rolls
Soooo good! Great price and service, so satisfying.
This is my go-to for Ph . Reasonable priced, quick service, and clean. (And theyre licensed!) What more can you ask for? Get the Large #9 with extra meat. You wont be disappointed.
Okay so out of the two pho places in town I would suggest going here because of the quality of service, and the pho you will get here is a higher quality in terms of preparation ingredients and price. Broth should have little to no oil floating in the top and should be flavourful. They also take debit so that alone takes the cake for me. Fast service, nice owners. This is a must have for anyone who hasnt tried pho yet.
Very good place . Nice hole in the wall.
Great mom and pop noodle joint. Super authentic and tasty. Tom and May are the best.
Tasty soups, large qty. No hot & sour soup though. Lots of seating and easy parking.
Best Chinese food in the valley quite possibly the island
Great food never disappointed
Simple and much healthier alternative to fast fry food.
Best pho in the valley
Its always great food. One of my many go tos
Tasty food!
Best soups in town
Fantastic food and fast friendly service .
My favorite#22. Food are great!!!
Love the food and the staff
Terrible
Good noodle bowl.
Fast, pleasant service. Great pho and bun. My go to for Vietnamese food.
This is our no.2 noodle house in Courtenay. The service is always top notch and the food is hot, fresh and excellent. A little attention to the washrooms would be appreciated
Fantastic WorWonTon Soup. Very fresh. Quick nice service. Ill be back !!
Always consistantly delicious, and afforable
Reliable pho, consistent hours, takes debit.
Delicious dumplings. Very authentic
Fast service. Fair priced. Good food. Easy parking.
Love Shanghai noodle
The food was great, service was speedy and the facility is small which we enjoy. We will head back for more.
Food was good...
Amazing place been going there for years. Great price for the quality and portions.
I order food to go last night, when i was eating the number 19 i found a dirty yellow tack at the very bottom of the dish, i picked up the tack with my fork and almost ate it til i looked down and seen a bright color on my fork, it was pretty scary and could have died if i ate that tack, i would have phoned in and told them, but i know people in the past have phoned them before claiming that they got food poisoning and they just kind of blow it off, so it is my fault that i order food from there, but i learned my lesson though, never gonna be ordering from them again!
Incredible portions of good food. Thanks
Excellent food serving
I have the number 15 hot and spicy soup all the time, its delicious!! Some of the best soup on the whole island. Worthy of 5 stars.
I have eaten here several times and the food is always good.
Very nice owners
Hubby and I love eating here. Love the spicy soup. The Deep fried wontons are incredible. We came into eat today. Had the chicken chow mein, sweet and sour chicken balls, garden salad rolls,It was soooooo good
best soup ever!!!!!
Currently closed for renos until Aug. 4th. Good food, great service.
great place to eat, nice owners and servers
Very polite and friendly service. The pho was excellent!
The basil & bean sprouts were not on the side but added in the kitchen. The taste was bland. No lemon available. Sub-average pho.
