My first Visit was awesome but last time two racist servers did not serve good. They gave me wrong drink and made weird faces. Shame on food servers.

One of the best halibut and chips I have ever had. Others at the table were really impressed with their meals. Its loud inside but it is a pub. World series game was on the TV. Ill be back.

Came in for Art night, our server was amazing, the event was so fun. Id definitely return for the next art night if held here. Its close to home and I really enjoy the food.

Great food and service. I got fish and chips. Could see sea lions right out the window! Amazing waitress! Carried someones baby around for them so they could arrange their table and so sweet with our table as well.

Unfortunately, we went for dinner with friends and it was paint nite. The person that was running the paint night had he sound so loud that we almost had to shout across the table to each other to have a conversation. When I asked our server if they could turn it down a little bit. His response was I dont think so.? Instead of saying Ill ask, or see if he can? He just decided their entertainment was more important than any other guests. I guess??? I should have asked for the manager, but, at that point, I just wanted to eat and leave. What should have been a nice dinner for the four of us turned out to be eat and run. I surely will not go there again on an evening when that scenario is going on. Im a paying customer. If I want to be ignored, or have someone elses evening be more important than mine when Im spending good money at that establishment. Ill be hard pressed to go there again on any night.

The food and service was good but what wasnt good was how ridiculously loud the instructor that was doing paint night! We asked if he could turn his mic down but were told that it wasnt possible. I couldnt even talk to people at my table. After dinner we went for a walk on the pier and over halfway to the end we could still here him clearly. If you are hosting a paint night, maybe figure out how to make it enjoyable for everyone.

Horrible food, horrible service and extortionist prices! Only thing you pay for is the view and this restaurant knows it! Save your money and go elsewhere.

Great food, nice variety to suit everyone in our family. I appreciate that minors were permitted in (before 8pm). I look forward to returning. Vegetarian options: A couple of tasty options. Kid-friendliness: Kids permitted, food options that were appropriate.

The beef Bulgogi burger is delicious, definitely try it. Was never very busy when I went however the staff were very friendly. Has pool tables and dart boards, great place to drink or eat.

It s our first time to go to this pub (August 3rd 2024) and we will NEVER go again. Customer Service is not even a one star. There was a sign that stated for us to seat ourselves, we did and then the server arrived and we got rude comments right away from her and a bad vibe. Im sure the food is good but i wouldnt know we left right after.

Pub with a nice atmosphere, patio tables, cold bevies and good food and service. I was looking for a dim, cool pub as a break from the Summer heat and this is the place.

Service. Wow. I don t know if I have ever had someone take care of me like I did Isaac. Every once in a while you meet someone who truly takes joy in making clients happy. He took exceptional care of me, kept a meticulously clean bar, despite my best efforts. He is a gem and they are lucky to have him. 100% went above and beyond for me.

What a waste of money, don t ever order their Halibut Tacos, their chef needs to know how to make a fish taco, if I wanted a frozen style bettered fish stick in a hard Tortilla ( suppose to be soft and warm ) then I would have asked my 10 years old to make it , any type of fish tacos should not be battered fish, it should be either baked or pan fried with butter and serve it in a soft warm tortillas. They didn t even asked or cared to know why I left the tacos after one bite but Charged us full for it. Obviously they don t care about their customers. Never again .

Great views, good food, good service

Lovely waterfront location for lunch, or a drink, or dinner. Stopped for a light lunch, and enjoyed our time there. There are a couple of pool tables (coin-op), lots of seating with view, and a small outdoor deck to enjoy (North facing so you are not in the blazing sun). Parking anywhere in Cow Bay can be a challenge by the pub is worth the walk. tldr; if you your in the area, thirsty and/or hungry, then stop in you will enjoy it.

There goes your tip. Better off going next door to The Cook and Butcher, food is amazing.

I went in here for a good time and all I got was a bad time. I tried to play pool, I tried to have a drink. I didnt get either I I highly recommend dont go here. Wow got kicked out for asking for another round of drinks. Never happened to me before. Travelled a long way to celebrate my brothers birthday. What a waste. Not sure why they did not want to take my money?

We took a party of ten in at 930 on a Friday night to finish celebrating a 60th birthday after having dinner upstairs at cook and butcher where we had excellent service we all had two drinks with dinner and planed to finish evening at cow bay pub downstairs we all sat down were told a server would be coming when no one did we flaged down a server and she took our order for our server . Half hour later all drinks are empty and we want to order another and a round of shots .Still no server has come to check on drinks and we went for a smoke came back still no server asked if we could get services were told they are busy when the place is empty except for two there couples when are server did arrive she snapped at us is there a problem Shane our big friendly giant says yes were just wanting a round of shots and some refills and she looked panicked said I dont like the vibe I am getting and I think its time you leave ...then she said someone at the table rolled thier eyes but would not say who and refused us service for asking for service then tried to put the entire bill one one and we all left 20 dollars for out one drink and left .

Best fish and chips I have ever had! Fish perfectly cooked, flakey, obviously fresh, perfect ratio of batter to fish, exactly right crispiness.

This area is so beautiful. First time here and the pub did not disappoint, the whole area s vibe is just so lovely. It said No Minors at the door but they let kids in on Sundays and Mondays. Our server was super friendly and I even personally thanked the cooks in the back afterwards and they were also pleasant. We had the chicken and Brie on sourdough, killer. The oyster burger was fried to perfection and the veg in the burger was fresh with a side of the best fries you ll ever have. The kid had the chicken fingers, textbook good.

Weve been here a couple of times & it has not disappointed once. I cant wait to go back and enjoy their patio in the summer. The food is always delicious & well presented. The drinks are very flavorful. The staff are friendly. The atmosphere is open & has a great vibe.

Great view , good food, friendly staff. Nice clientele. My father who uses a cane was respected and helped by everyone he came into contact with. The people leaving the pub wearing Harley Davidson gear, the pool players in the pub as well as staff. All so kind and helpful on our family Easter dinner at the pub.

I was in town on business and a local recommended I eat here for the evening. I had a very good Halibut burger with fries. Even though it was a busy Friday night, service was pretty quick, and the food was delicious. Will definitely eat here again if I find myself in the area.

Had their fish and chips. Halibut 2 pce. See pics. Its not that it was bad but it was far from great, OK at best for pub food. Server made a special drink but it was tasteless, barely flavored water but didnt want the feedback Im guessing? Charged enough for it though. Service was severely lacking even though there was MAYBE 10% cap? Checked once to see how it taste then not again until it was time to leave, no refill, never asked if I wanted anything before kitchen closed... I wanted dessert but just nothing :| and the place was dead. I left a bigger tip than deserved... Ill look around next time for some actual good fish and chips. ( like Jo Klassens in Courtenay!)

Had halibut and chips. First perfect fries of the year! Crispy and delicious with moist perfectly cooked fish. My partner had the beet salad and loved it.

Solid food, good selection. Mostly pub style food. The exterior and interior screams dated and I m sure it s got plenty of stories to tell. The patio, unfortunately, is east facing with a roof over so afternoon gets no sunshine. Add a south-eastern or eastern breeze and it s chilly. The view though doesn t get much better for a sea side community. The oyster burger and halibut burger were really good. Large portion of halibut and the breading was bang on. The French fries were outstanding. Beer battered and very crispy. Service very pleasant and prompt. Helpful with suggestions. I d give it 5 stars if it wasn t for the interior being tired. But, having said that. It was clean, including the bathrooms.

Very good food and cold drinks. If the weather permits dying outside. It was a little too cool they will bring you a blanket. Food and service excellent.

My order was mixed up with someone else, but quickly rectified.

As we learned halfway through our visit. Our server was fairly new. That explained why we werent waited on for the first 30 minutes. We think she was still getting used to being efficient with all of her tables. We also were not IDd even though we were all legal but not by much, so we were surprised because we ordered drinks and we were there celebrating my sisters 19th. My fian es drink order was also wrong, and my mimosa was very strong. The food was delicious and quite fast, I got the butter chicken with rice and Naan bread.

Well tonight was disappointing. Waited well over an hour for our food without so much as a thank you for your patience from the staff. Eventually arrived but honestly probably could have rummaged through their dumpster and found a warmer meal. One of our table went to the restroom and seen some of our plates ready under the warmer but it still wasnt until some 20 mins plus that the plates came. I honestly dont know why someone would have just known it wouldnt have been good enough to serve or at least knocked a percentage off the bill. Now I know staff will read this and either not care or have a thousand excuses why this happened but none the less it happened and was allowed to happen so a degree of ownership has to be taken. If you are a staff member there and are reading this then let me ask, would you have eaten a meal you knew was only kept marginally warm by a heat lamp that it sat under for 30+ mins and paid full price and expected to tip well too? If you answered yes then I suggest you analyze your employment situation, you shouldnt be in that business as you are doing it no favours. Ive eaten at all sorts of pubs and can tell you I rarely complain and I tip mostly in 20-25% area but this was exceptionally bad that it needed to be mentioned .

Ive been to the Bay pub numerous times over the years the service continues to slip. I enjoy the food I enjoy the location but service is 50% of how I judge a restaurant. Today is a perfect example, the place is less than half full Im told to wait to be seated by the bartender and another waitress I stand for 5 minutes no one coming to see me Im one person. The girl with the long dark curly hair was rude. This is my first bad review for any restaurant unfortunate for me I will never return my hundred dollars a week wont be missed Im sure. Although busy and minimal staff we were served quickly on the outside deck with lovely views of marina and bay beyond. Staff run off their feet but still managed a semblance of welcoming smile.

Okay for a beer for sure, but the food is unbelievably delicious. I had the halibut burger, absolutely superb. My son had a hamburger with fries that he said was one of the best he ever had. Just not impressed with the Wi-Fi Internet, very poor.

Couldnt be nicer. A bustling family owned restaurant and bar. A great menu included large fried oysters that were perfectly done. Varied menu from burgers to bibimpap. I sat at the high part of the bar overlooking the bay and boats. Wonderful relaxing atmosphere with a very good barkeep named Brian. if youre in the Cowichan Bay area, enjoy!

Went in Monday for dinner with my family. I ordered the chicken curry, and I loved it, my mother and brother both loved their food. Service was great and accomodating. Everytime I have gone here previously has been a good experience, I look forward to coming again.

Overall good experience but I guess you dont get much halibut now for $22 atop a salad or taco.

Had a great meal overlooking the marina in the setting sun. Burgers were really tasty inc the 10 dollar burger. Highly recommend.

Its a beautiful setting but the worst fish tacos Ive ever had. It was supposed to be halibut, but it was breaded flakes of fish that collectively didnt add up to more than 2 bites. Which were tasteless, overcooked to the point they were leathery. I dont know how any cook could put this on a plate and not feel guilty. I wont be back though we live 5 min away.

The waitress is very friendly. The cocktail is good. The food doesn t taste very well given it s not that cheap. The beef dip is very salty, and the fish taste like overcooked or not fresh. I considered to give like a 4-star coz the waitress is very friendly, but the food really is not good and I feel a bit overpriced just for these two we ordered.

I had the 2 piece halibut and chips. Batter was light and the fish delicious. Great fries, coleslaw was very tasteless but the things that mattered were excellent. Parking was ridiculous so we had a bit of a walk. The view was amazing.

The waitress was phenomenal, the food was yummy, but after the drinks were so weak, I drank 7, and nothing. I know 7 is alot, but it was my birthday.

Very elegant place with live piano and vocal music, tip go close to sunset, the landscape is fantastic and will make for excellent photos.

Good place for a beer or game of pool. I will have to go back and try the food. There are pool tables and good music. There is parking underneath the building. As cow bay is a popular tourist spot sometimes its hard to find parking.

I ordered the peppercorn burger and was served something that looked like a peice of charcoal on a bun. The four sysco onion rings I got as a side, for an additional price, should have tipped me off that not all was right at the pub. I was enjoying my day in beautiful Cowichan Bay so I ate my disappointing and expensive meal without protest and left. I will never return to this pub and I give fair warning to other travelers. Ye who enter here abandon all hope.

There prices do not match there food quality, it cost 34 dollars for a sandwich and one beer!

Great waterfront location, good selection of beer on tap. But...turkey-brie sandwich was overwhelmed by taste of onion jam and was served on sourdough that tasted/looked like basic white bread from a bag. Yam fries were excessively salted and barely edible (had to wipe salt off each fry). And the interior had some pretty bad DIY decor. Disappointing.

Overtime we have frequented this establishment and just recently went back to it now that Covid has settled down, prices are somewhat higher than most eating establishments in the area The only thing I cant stress enough is DONT ..and I say DONT order the fish and chips , I got a two piece fish and chips and I d give you 5 to 1 odds it came out of a box from Captain Highliner .terrible terrible

Not the best service or food. Waitress never once checked on how meal was. Had the nachos and be careful. The prices vary on food on websites. Nachos were $19 and was supposed to come with guacamole according to online menu but was extra plus $7 for a little ground beef. Wife had a tiny piece of halibut and a few fries plus coleslaw that was vinegar flavored for $21. Had way better service and quality. Watch out for hidden prices.

We went here on my birthday weekend mid august. Food was hot and fresh, yam fries were the best Ive had. Halibut was crispy with a good ratio of batter to fish, lots of fish inside. The view was amazing! Good value for money and good service too.

Poor customer service. Never once checked us and didnt ask if we needed anything else when food was dropped off. Just felt ignored the whole time. Food was average but the view outside was beautiful. I dont think Ill be back and I think you should look at other places to eat in Cowichan Bay.

5:10 pm Sept 4th. Arrived and seated outside.. then ignored . We watched our waitress/hostess , come and go many times without acknowledging us. We waited and waited, while watching waitresses inside doing mostly nothing. Its too bad our young brunette hostess was more interested in the young guy talking about his little sailboat than taking our order. We all got up and left.

Good food, a but pricey but worth it.

We tried two other places for lunch, both were closed. So eating here was a happy accident! It will be our go to restaurant in Cowichan Bay from now on. The food is excellent, as is the service and the view is awesome over the docks and marina. It cant get better!

Great view, good food - much better than normal bar fare. staff was nice but a little slow on a busy Friday night. Beer selection was limited but ok. Atmosphere inside was quite loud and didnt inspire me much.

Nice view, of course! Pleasant atmosphere, with some gaps in service. Decent drink selection, and the Cubano sandwich was flavourful and nicely presented. If youre craving seafood chowder, Id advise you hold off. Far too light a portion for $15.95.

My friends and I have eaten here many times over the last couple of years. Food is always tasty and fast, service is good. Prices are reasonable. Nice view of the bay and marina during the day.

We have been going to this pub for years and are rarely disappointed. Would love to see a larger selection of local craft beers, but certainly not a game changer.
