Sakura Sushi & Grill in Cranbrook

Lovely little shop, I always stop in when I m going through Cranbrook. The yam yam is my favourite, but everything I ve had there has been delicious.

The food was delicious and the service was good. I definitely recommend!

Here in Cranbrook on a work trip. I ve lived in Vancouver and Kelowna so i know good sushi, saying that, wow this place deserves all the five stars! Absolutely amazing sushi and other items! (Didn t have any sashimi im not into raw fish). Can t say enough good things about it, definitely recommend!

We had the spicy seafood soup dish and it was amazing! Love the booths for the cozy/private atmosphere. Our server was superb!

Domo to the real sushi chefs and beautiful people of this elegant restaurant. Ive enjoyed so many delicious meals here but today was different. Having a tough time these beautiful people made sure my tea was hot, my food delicious but also adventurous. These chefs always give me a delectable treat with every visit. Laughably bad experience... they made us the wrong food and refused to remake what we actually ordered.. the poor waitress was so embrassed, insinuated her own bosses are stubborn and CHEAP. Not only that, the wrong food they brought us was hardly edible.. Dont waste your money here, people. Lol

I m from Vancouver, so I never get sushi out when I m in the BC interior or anywhere in Alberta where I live now. But this little place was beside our hotel in Cranbrook and I was told by someone walking by that it s amazing sushi so decided to give it a try. First off it s got the Japanese sushi bar vibe down pat, loved every aspect of it. Second, there s 4-5 Japanese men behind the counter preparing everything fresh in front of your eyes. Both major green flags for me! Now to the menu, not only full of favourites and things everyone loves on their sushi menu but some very unique things that blew my mind such as tempura banana roll with blueberry sauce. It was dessert for us and we almost went back for more! We tried a few things and everything was the best we d had in a very long time if not ever. I can t even think of a place in Vancouver that I could compare to quality especially factoring in prices. And the prices were totally reasonable, making this a perfect stop for an easy eat on a budget! Next time I m in Cranbrook I will absolutely be back!

Great place for lunch

Excellent Sushi. The staff and chefs were quite friendly. As I sat at the sushi bar, the head chef even offered a complementary piece of a specialty roll, which was phenomenal. The restaurant was busy yet orderly, and personable.

I chose this place for my husband and O as we seen that it stated could be the best sushi in BC. Considering it s not right by the ocean for the freshest seafood, I was hopeful that it was going to going to be something spectacular. We are from out of town, travel extensively, and love our sushi. We chose the table in the right far corner but out of sight out of mind. Our service was not the best. My husband had $21- seafood udon. Poor guy! He doesn t like spicy. He swore there was lots of cayenne. He worked through it. There was barely any seafood AT ALL!! He said there was 2 maybe 3 shrimp, one clam, lots of cabbage I felt bad for him but he ate half of it. I had the Deluxe Bento Box with the choice of chicken teriyaki. The chicken was tough and not good. I didn t eat it but everything else was good. I have definitely had better. At many other sushi restaurants. My husband is working up here in Cranbrook and the first thing he did when we got back to the hotel as there was a table of the crew was tell them do not go to the sushi restaurant!! Disappointed!!

Amazing sushi, I went to it 10yrs ago when I still lived in Cranbrook and its so nice to see it still there.

This place is one of my highlights whenever I come to town. Whether youre dining in, taking out, or getting delivery, the food is always so fresh. I recommend this restaurant to all my colleagues that come here for work.

When I googled all you can eat sushi this place popped up, but they do not have an all you can eat service. Despite our mistake we still really enjoyed our food and experience here. They have a few good vegan options and we left happy and full. Will be back!

Food was good service was excellent

Disappointed. Added salmon to my order. Got a couple of tiny nugget sized pieces. When I mentioned to the waitress how small they were she seemed unconcerned. Any other food here has been good.

This is a great restaurant. Friendly staff and amazing food! I love restaurants that are one of treasures and not cookie cutter fast food chains. I will be going here a ton. My only complaint is that I didn t find this treasure sooner!!

If you are looking for authentic and tasty sushi in Cranbrook, Sakura Sushi & Grill is the option, This place offers traditional Japanese food and drinks; I loved to sit at the sushi bar and enjoy the amazing dishes. You can see how the cooks prepare your food in front of you, That day, the owner gave me for free an eel nigiri; it was just amazing! The environment is very comfortable; you can feel it is such a nice atmosphere to dine, The service was a bit slow and not very attentive. First time ordering, got home to find missing rolls, and wrong roll. Called back and it was a fight to get them to fix order , and they tried and tried to charge me for missing items even when I brought list I called order from very clearly, was $100 order of rolls. Girl who took order needs a refresh on customer service! Food was good not great for prices, not cheap .

Food was nothing special. It had amazing atmosphere and very friendly servers. But the food seriously was boring. The sushi seemed stale and not worth the premium that it cost.

Sakura is a little restaurant in the heart of downtown Cranbrook , Last nights experience was 10 out of 10. The servers were awesome even though it was packed they found us a table the whole experience was amazing. I definitely recommend the Sakura ceaser perfect for when your not driving

I order the teriyaki chicken it was the fake processed chicken disgusting soaked in water and cooked a little bit with a drop of teriyaki sauce the teriyaki beef was like dog food rice 1 tablespoon i ve never been to such an awful Japanese restaurant. very sad and very disappointed. Don t ever go there horrible. Very expensive waste of money for what you get

Service the girl was more worried about her eyelashes there was a service button and it didn t even work never came to check on unless you wanna waste $100 on dog food don t go the teriyaki steak tasted like beef jerky soaked in Sweetwater

*Update: Something has changed... 3/5 Not as fresh perhaps/pressure from competition? The service/quality has declined in the last year or so. 3 separate patronages with same experience. This use to be one of our favorite local dining experiences and we recommended it constantly. Old review: Its hard to believe that the best sushi we have ever eaten comes from a small place in the Interior of BC... Kudos to the owners. Being busy and having high turn over keeps things fresh for sure. We eat here quite frequently and always recommend.

A very reliable sushi option in Cranbrook. We visit often and never have been disappointed. The food is fresh, expertly prepared and delicious. Definitely the best sushi in the area in my opinion. They have a very varied menu so everyone can find something that they will enjoy. Not sure why other restaurants cant offer the level of service that is here but we always feel like we are looked after promptly.

Tempura was good but sushi rolls that I ordered had too much fake crab meat in them. Like dynamite roll is supposed to have shrimp tempura in it but only tiny tiny one in there ,the most was fake crab meat as filler. Other rolls are same too. So lame.

Ordered take out 15mins before they close their lunch time. It was fast and easy. I didnt expect much but we enjoyed our food and it was delish. I also like the price compared to what we are used to.

The food was excellent, very well prepared and delicioso. I put two stars on my wifes recommendation, because we were seated in the darkest (couldnt even read the menu because of the dim light), narrowest, high traffic section in the restaurant. Felt like a second class citizen.

I grew up in Vancouver eating sushi regularly, and live on the island now where sushi is plentiful and usually pretty good but - this is HANDS DOWN the best sushi restaurant Ive ever been to. Everything on the menu is amazing, and delicious. Im glad I stumbled across this great spot during my stay in Cranbrook. Highly recommended.

Unbeatable atmosphere, lovely staff and the best darn sushi in town. I swear whenever I go in its second nature to order enough salmon rolls and the chef special Nigiri *top cuts of the day chosen by the chef* to cause a market price fluctuation on seafood. The cocktails are really unique as well. Of course you can get Hot sake or even plum wine, but you must try the Tokyo Tea. Just like any great cocktail with the word ,Tea it will truly satisfy your taste buds and leave you staggering to the bar for one last beverage and another salmon roll before you pay your bill and head back to your dwelling to plan out your next visit to Sakura Sushi & Grill.

Good food like always but had bad experience with the service. Server was not willing to go and ask the kitchen if they can make one of our meal vegan or no. Later, she came up with an excuse of language barrier with the kitchen staff but she never went to ask them. But i realized that her focus was to get more and more tables, I guess. Didnt wanna tip her but i thought that would be rude, so i tipped her like 5 bucks and her behaviour got more rude and she walked away with the taping machine like she doesnt care at all. Often, Me and my girlfriend like to take out food from there but this time we thought we should dine in. But this behaviour was unacceptable and I feel sorry for the owners, who are probably loosing some customers because of this kind of service.

Excellent fair as usual. A bit pricier than most sushi houses.. But you can expect quality. They will bring in customer requests if you plan ahead! I have to admit 2020-2021 was a dip down year for Sakura. My favorite sushi place in Cranbrook. 2022 has changed my mind though. With Tuna Tataki, rainbow roll, negitoro (my go-to) and a house gift of seared fish belly. The quality has once again pushed to the top shelf again. New sushi chefs abound and it was delightful to see a lady working alongside the sushi chefs. A chorus of bobble heads, lucky cats and chibis faced me down from the bar. Parking: Parking is out front on the street and around corner. Wheelchair accessibility: Would probably need help getting in. The front door is narrow.

Wow! Who would expect a world-class Japanese & Korean restaurant in Cranbrook? We travelled through Cranbrook and decided to have dinner at Sakura Sushi & Grill, based on what we saw in Google Reviews. We had a wonderful evening, with extremely delicious food, perfectly set-up plates, tasty drinks and perfect service. Thank you for surprising us!! Unfortunately we just stayed one night, otherwise this would be our go-to restaurant in Cranbrook.

I love sushi and my favorite whenever we go out to eat is to go to Japanese Restaurant, the best ever that Ive eaten so far is Sakura Sushi and Grill. Good thing we stop by Cranbrook for gas and food after very nice long weekend in Chrstina Lake. We will be back again!

The service is good here, but unfortunately the food wasnt. The spicy agadeshi tofu wasnt bad, but we couldnt finish the sushi because it had a weird flavour to it as well as that fishy after taste that tells you its not fresh.

Were from the coast - and are usually hesitant about dining at sushi restaurants inland, and in some of the smaller towns. So I must say we were pleasantly surprised by both the sushi and the staff here at Sakura. Thanks again for the great sushi and amazing service!

We were waiting outside and seeing people after us getting table, after 35 min we went and we were told that they do not take reservations and completely flip from their statement. Some staff need more hospitality training. Felt discriminated by the front door staff

Great food, Great Atmosphere and service. But I dont understand the obsession with putting Crab in every roll? (Im looking at you Dynamite & Philly !) Nonetheless they cater to your customization! Knocked off a star as I ordered for takeout once and they missed my shrimp tempera. When I called they told me they saved my number (or name?) and they would give it to me next time I come to shop. Next time I came to dine-in my sever spoke to the manager and they declined :(

Went out for dinner. It is a nice place, very well decorated and clean. Over all it was a good experience. Food was tasty. How ever I felt that the rolls were very small. However like I said it was tasty. Would go again.

Sakura in Cranbrook has amazing !!!!!

Aside from not having their menu available online (other than Facebook). They did send me a copy to my e-mail, and Im glad they did. The food is absolutely great! I would go back once the Pandemic is over to have the full experience, but for now the take out is well with three drive. Staff were friendly and the food was ready and fresh, still hot after the drive home. Thank you for making our at home life that much better. Cheers.

Nice place, good food, excellent service

Sakura is one of the best places in town to go for sushi. This time I had the little roll combo and an amazingly large bowl of miso soup. DELISH. The boat options are a favorite you really cant go wrong with them. Service is friendly and quick. I really enjoy the atmosphere and setting inside this place.

Foods always good, service was off tonight though. Wasnt checked in on once during the meal, be nice to not have to prompt service or ask for a refill when its obvious one is wanted.

Nice little place in heart of downtown. Got busy quickly at supper on a Friday, so make a reservation or get in earlier. Great menu variety, lovely presentation. Amount of crab in some of the rolls is a bit too much, actually! Lighting is a bit low, but wonderful spacing of tables in a smaller building.

I went here for takeout during Covid19. The quality of the rolls are very good. Thin thin layer of rice wrap around a generous ingredients. Price is expensive and you get what you pay for. Call ahead for take out as coin meter parking only at front.

Truly enjoyed eating here this evening. Three of us went for dinner. Two of us had bento boxes and one ordered an order of spicy salmon sushi and one spicy tuna. We all enjoyed our meals and with a side of kimchi and one of dumplings it was lots if food. Shared some ginger cake type dessert which came with a sweet sauce and some mango icecream. Service was good and always there when needed. Never seemed to be there pushing to order extra or looking to get us to order anything we had not decided we wanted.

Delicious sushi and presented so cutely on a boat! The restaurant atmosphere and decor was A+ as well. We had the Love Boat and the spider roll (on the left beside the tempura in the photo) was exceptional! Food was served super quickly too! Id recommend this place to anyone.

Lunch stop on the way back to Alberta. The Chirashi has really fresh sashimi and they even topped it with a tempura shrimp and some pickled parsnips. My husband had the lunch bento and that looked pretty good too! Lots of choices on the menu whether you re a die hard real sushi (raw fish) or a casual sushi lover. Good ambiance and excellent service as well even though they were quite busy when we came here!
