Have not been here in over 8 years and as always not disappointed. Our server was Tim and he was super friendly and helpful with our choices. Service over the top. My sister whom I am visiting took me to supper. I had chicken tenders and fries and a sundae, she had beef dip and fries. Coffee great. Washroom clean. From the moment you stepped in you were greeted and made welcome. Next time I’m in this part of Nova Scotia I will be back.
Our recent visit to Mic Mac Bar and Grill was incredibly disappointing. Initially, we were served by a kind older gentleman, but he left after 10 minutes, passing us on to a waitress named Sara. We were a group of seven—three children and four adults. When one of the adults wanted to order a kids' meal (fish and chips) to share with a child, Sara refused, insisting it was against restaurant policy and that we must order an adult meal instead. Despite explaining our situation, she was unyielding, and we reluctantly complied. Throughout the meal, Sara made us pass the plates to her, which felt inappropriate as it was her job to clear the table, not ours. This was our third visit, and we had never faced such issues before. To make matters worse, after paying a hefty $350 CAD bill at the counter, Sara rushed over, accusing us of not paying and causing a scene despite our showing the paid receipt. It was clear she was upset about not receiving a tip. Overall, Sara's rude and unprofessional behavior ruined our experience. I won’t be returning to Mic Mac Bar and Grill, as the service was far below acceptable standards.
A fantastic and lesser-known establishment on Dartmouth Street. The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. It is quite popular, so it is advisable to make a reservation in advance, as it is a favorite among the locals.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice. The tenderloin steak was soft, too. But everything was salty. Especially the onion soup, and the steak. I think everything would have been satisfying if it wasn't salty.
This was my first ever visit to the Mic Mac Tavern(As my family calls it). They had told me of its history and the good price to taste ratio they've always had. Even upon entering I could tell this was sort of a known place as it had a small lineup but everyone in the staff seemed nice and took us to our seats immediately as we had reservations. We ordered a Onion Rings, Beef Liver, Onions & Bacon, a Spicy Black Bean with Spicy Fries and 3 piece Fish & Chips. The Beef and Veggie/Black Bean Burger were great as per my family. I had the Fish & Chips. While I won't say it was the best in the city the fish was adequate. The fries however were a problem. Overly salty and too oily for my taste. It did put a damper on the things for me but everything else seemed to be more than good. They do seem to have a big menu and good amount of seating space. However, despite that they are mostly packed and I highly recommend making a reservation. The decor is beautiful and has a nice blend of modern with the old. I can certainly understand why a lot of people have their memories attached to it and now I have one too.
Still great! Had the spaghetti special, and it was better than most Italian restaurants. My friend had the lemon pepper haddock which he said was great. As always, the service was great (kudos to Rock). Waited about 20 min, but we'll worth the wait. Another favorite from years ago that I had the opportunity to visit and it was just as I remembered. The Mic Mac burger is absolutely amazing. So juicy and flavorful, and The fried onions take it to the next level. Not to mention, The seasoned breakfast potatoes! It was a hard decision to not have the Bologna and eggs, gotta say. Brett was a fantastic server, so personable. Love the new digs, too!
Greetings from Finland! Now it was 5/5 that the tongue was taken away. The pizza was filling and the pineapple was a good topping for the pizza. There was a separate parking area for the horses, if you happen to travel with that kind of horse riding. The childrens playground was safe and big. Bland food that is mediocre at best. The restaurant is so crammed you dont even have the space to pull your chair back. The price is outrageous for the quality of food you get. Burgers taste like theyre out of the box. I went to this restaurant 3 times In total with parties of 5 people approx. No one was that impressed with their meal. There are so many other great places to go. I really dont understand the hype of this place ....

Our stay on Saturday December 14th: Our stay on Saturday December 14th: For our reservation I had to confirm via phone one day before and when I showed up for supper my reservation was unknown. The table we got for 3 persons was unacceptable because it was not enough space for 3 people available. Luckily we got another one. Tables around were a little bit messy and nobody took care about it. The waitress responsible for our table had absolutely no experience in the restaurant business which wouldn t be a problem working at a cheap restaurant but for a place like this we expected at least the basics how to serve. A provided Pina Colada as aperitif had nothing to do with the original recipe. We sent it back and at the end we didn t have to pay for it. Supper consisting of starter, main and dessert was excellent. For the starter we ordered a bottle of wine, which was really excellent. As we tried to order another bottle of the same wine we got told that there is no one left. In the meantime it seems that the manager recognised that we had a few issues and apologised profusely. From that time on she took great care about us. The bill revealed another unknown secret because we ordered steak as main course. According to the menu steak always comes with a side of your choice but the ordered side were shown as a separate order on the bill and we ordered nothing fancy as it was just salad and garlic bread. At the end we payed CAD$ 300 for a supper that definitely didn t go well and except the quality of the food it s not worth for a visit if you expect a professional service and experience.

Food was decent, but overpriced for what you actually get. Service is okay typical wait staff nothing over the top to give it more than 3 star. Atmosphere was very loud, very tight together seating making you feel suffocated. It is a typical restaurant, but nothing really stands out about this place amongst others in the area.
A lively place with substantial meals and pleasant if harried staff. Reservations are a must. The menu offers a wide range of options unless youre vegan (the only vegans I saw were on my plate). Recommended for special, informal occasions or entertaining folks from away.

We were here last night, party of 10, and was genuinely surprised at the extraordinary staff and cuisine. Our server was CLAIRE. She was a gem, not a single order missed, was attentative to our table and very personable. When our table had a last addition there was no hesitation by staff. They all came and arranged our table, which made walking past us near impossible. I asked another staff member if they could get by.. her answer was that is out problem, you just sit and enjoy your stay.. CANNOT RECCOMEND THEM ENOUGH.

Love this place and very hard to fault anything. However, the ice tea is a brand that is very high in preservatives and when told that I didnt want it and asked for a glass of water, I was never given the water, even after asking a second time. The meal was delicious as always though. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes the whole place is wheelchair friendly.

Food is always consistent, but their inability to answer the phone to take a reservation is absurd. There have been many times I ve waited on hold until the hold music literally ends, and the call is disconnected.
Out with colleagues made for a great atmosphere. Some in our group found it really loud. The waitress was rude on multiple occasions. The Greek chicken wrap was great but the nachos only had about 1/3 of the salsa that should have been served and no sour cream.

I wrote a wicked review a couple years back but a lot has changed. Edit: Went back,orderd lobster and asked to have my steak upgraded to a 12 oz, they did that no problem(also have done this in the past.) To my suprize they made me pay for a whole other meal and turned my lobster into a side. Dinner for 2 ended up being 181 before tip.(There was no tip after that) Instead of paying the $48 for a steak and lobster dinner. We tried to disput but they werent hearing it... so i give a 0 for customer service. Secondly, as soon as we sat down. There were two racist women beside us talking about slavery and the deep south. How slaves were meant for the work and liked it. We told multiple servers and they did not do anything other than offer us a new place to sit after about 20 minutes of hearing this chatter.(as if they were scared to address the situation) Told us there was nothing they could do. Pretty much ruined our meal. We will deffinetly not be back, our whole experience was horrible.
We recently dined here, and I have to say it was quite a letdown. We arrived at 7 PM and didn t get approached until 7:30 PM, and that was only after we had to ask someone that we are ready to order. The service was painfully slow, which made the entire experience frustrating. When the food finally arrived, it was overly salty. Considering the long wait, we expected something better. The atmosphere was also unwelcoming.
This is crazy I went there 3-6 months ago big hungry was 19.75 plus tax s. now it s 31 plus tax and it s smaller then before this is crazy I well never in my life eat here again this is what 90% of customer were concerned about before they made the big move to new building this is crazy

Mic Mac Bar and Grill is an absolute must whenever Im in town. The steak and seafood are mouthwatering perfection, with a wide variety of delicious craft beers on tap. From 4 p.m. onwards it can get BUSY. Be on the safe side and call ahead to reserve a table. On more spontaneous visits during busy times when I havent called ahead, the delicious steak, scallops, and draft are always worth the wait.
We got the lobster and steak, as well as the muscles, calamari and scallops. The muscles were fantastic with the garlic butter sauce, then the scallops were very tasty, the lobster was good noticed the tail was a little bit more rubbery than the claws but still good. This is not a steak house so if steak is what you want not the place for you. The calamari was good and service was even better. Would come again.
Wow!!! We had 30 people for a birthday party and the service could not have been any better! All of the food was amazing. Over thirty dishes served and not one complaint! Denver was our main server and he knocked it out of the park! Fast, excellent service. The prices were beyond reasonable. My husband and I both got hamburger steak and onion ( delicious!), I had a Ceasar and my husband had a double Ceasar....the bill was only $56!!!. We were so thoroughly impressed with the entire experience! I would highly recommend this place for any occasion. ( Make a reservation cuz its a hot spot!!!!! Never had a bad meal here! Thank you to all the staff for the wonderful customer service!

Great comfortable atmosphere . Was there August 2018. Our server was pleasant vibrant and very Nova Scotia like. Coming from a Toronto city girl. The food was amazing!!! We went back for a second time just before we headed back out west. Impressed! While there check out nine locks brewing .

Great service.. just wow. Denver, our waiter, was so pleasant.. and PATIENT!! He made multiple trips to our table to help us order and enjoy our time. The food was delicious and the portions were crazy large. We were outside at the patio tables, which were in a parking lot so not the best but still nhce to be able to enjoy the nice weather while sipping on a beer.
I find the wait staff always to be good. The bartenders are not up to par at all. They can t seem to handle moderately busy.

I usually give late reviews after I have an unexperience (so its hard to detect which customer I was) I came here to celebrate the birthday of a friend who is a local. As a bar and grill, it seems okay, for the food, the burgers are okay but taste plain and bland, dill pickle tastes like air though For the service, if you are new customer or a visitor, a few male waiters tend to ogle or give you dirty looks when they detect you arent a usual goer which seems to be unfair knowing you just want objectively dine and try the food of the place. Other business have friendly-er waiters. They give a fast dessert cake for someone who just said I m celebrating my birthday onset so an extra star for that.
Had a beer and a Striploin Steak. The did an excellent job seasoning and grilling it! Although another person s steak at my table was a little over cooked for their taste, they still enjoyed it. Will be back. Food : 5/5

Ordered take out and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived in 25 minutes and paid was told it will be another 5 minutes buy the woman at the counter.i sat there and waited another 15 minutes before another server came out and asked me for my order number and it had been sitting on the counter behind her the whole time I was waiting. She didnt even check if it was behind her when I arrived and disappeared she seemed to have a bad attitude. When i got home food was cold from sitting there and they got my order wrong. This place has gone down hill
Great food, buddy had the steak and lobster, I had the beef dip sandwich. The next day I wanted to go back and get the sandwich again, it was so good...... and so I went.
Had their fish cakes and my gf had their BLT sandwich. Super friendly and fun server and the food was delicious. It was very busy at 8 pm Friday so I d say reservations are in order.

I have no idea why anyone would go anywhere else. They must like to settle for 2nd best. If you have a chance, sit at the bar and talk to the bartender while you wait. Not sure about his name, but he is in his 60s and makes every trip a great experience. I hear he may retire eventually, so hurry in.

menu says $22 Chicken parmesan comes with spaghetti and garlic bread (pretty standard everywhere). arrives with cold soggy fries and coleslaw. When I enquired about the wrong items instead of offering to replace or discount, they blamed customer saying thats what was ordered. I dont even eat fries with burgers let alone chicken parmesan. I did not order fries and coleslaw, their solution is blame the customer. Guess our office will take our $500 lunches to a new spot, htey dont care about customers.

Had a large family gathering there. It was fun, but four of us ended up not feeling well a couple of hours later and ended up in the washroom repeatedly. Was quite nauseous also. Hence the low rating.
Had company from New Brunswick & for years bragged up this place. I assured her she would be totally amazed with everything. (WRONG) Started out with a very abrupt waiter, almost like he didnt have much time. Brought our drinks, no straws. Asked for them & had to wait 6-7 minutes. Ceaser cocktail was so spicy, I had to send it back. No apologies given. Ordered chicken wings as an appetizer, they were not fit to eat, appeared they had been cooked, heated, & reheated. Sent them back, bought another order & told us they checked the inside & they were perfectly fine. Not so, they were no better. Didnt bother sending them back. Waiter didnt even ask if they were ok. Then comes the main meal, all messed up, my scallops where on her plate while her shrimp were on mine. No butter for baked potato, no steak sauce, no cocktail sauce. By the time we managed to get someones attention, you guessed it our meal was by no means hot. I was so embarrassed & disappointed, it will be a long time before I recommend this place & long time before I return. Ive been a regular customer since the doors opened in the old Mic Mac.
Came from away to visit my friend who bragged this place up. My first and last time! Wings were way overcooked, plates were mixed up, no butter for baked potato or sauces offered for steak. Temperature of food was warm. We did send wings back and so did the table across from us. Asked for butter and by the time we got the waiters attention the butter did not melt on the potatoes.

Ive eaten at this restaurant since its been in the blue house. The new location is amazing and looks great. The family loves the food there and the service is great. It has been a long time since Ive been there. Had reservations for 8 people for 6pm on a Saturday evening. We had to wait 25 minutes to get our table, not happy. We ordered then had to wait 25 minutes for our meal, so busy as usual. I ordered the steak and ceaser salad with mushrooms. Well, it was the best steak I have had in a very long time and the ceaser salad was perfect, didnt need any steak sauce for this meal. The waiter was fantastic, sorry cant remember his name. Even though the wait was a pain it was well worth every penny. I will be going there again and probably soon

Great pub fare! We have tried a few different things but enjoyed the scallops and steak last time we were there. Steak was perfectly cooked, scallops were massive, fully loaded potatoes were excellent. The kids meals are BIG. Really enjoyed the ice cream cake as well! Service was FAST. Overall a great spot to visit, much more reasonably priced than other steak spots in the area as well!
Worst Food and quantity ,: Ordered a Chicken crispy BLT burger, the chicken was soggy and no where near to crispy, the size of the burger was also very small and even fries where very less. When I reported this to the restaurant they just said will let kitchen know.zero value for the money we paid, didnt expect this when we had gone as a family with kids. Felt maybe we were treated badly as we were only one in the restaurant from an Asian background

Unbelievably terrible Told after saying which items we( table of 4)would like, these selections are out..ok.. Minutes later, after placing our selections, oh..we have no mash potatoes, how about garlic mash..ok.. Ohh..we ran out ofveg items..here..a small plastic container of coleslaw..no other offer.. Odd how the rest of our party received veg, as did another table ordering after us.. Totally neglected without ANY utensils..actually had to go to station to receive knives.. Garlic mash?..how about salted, salt infused, added salt, salted mashed.. Unacceptable..no real concern about trying to make amends..a floor manager came by to offer extremely insincere apologies and actually asked ME what can be done..offering dessert for an honestly unpalatable meal simply doesnt cut it. Its hard to relate my utter chagrin and disappointment about this. Having staff shrug and turn away is not good. It seems this place is sitting on its laurels of a bygone standard which has fallen away to laughable. NOT what it was before.. In short, the food was unpalatable..far over salted..no option to correct the issue other than a dessert..really?? For a patron used to coming for an enjoyable meal, pleasant evening at the MicMac, Im absolutely appalled by this..obviously I will never be back and I will go to extremes to persuade others to think of other establishments. I expect to hear a myriad of excuses and reasons all of which are unacceptable..horrendous and totally unacceptable..
Very disappointed..they did not bring what we ordered ...they were out of alot of things we were visting from NB..lots of we are sorry but no real action...no Streak knives we got up and got our own...potatoes were very salty and instead of the veggie we ordered they ga ve us coleslaw in a small pastic container and walked away...wow

2022 I heard that this place is full of customers every day, business is very good, and it is a famous local restaurant. We didnt make a reservation and only had one hour to dine, but the whole restaurant was full of laughter, as we were here to celebrate our birthday. It was really delicious, I ordered steak, and the birthday boy got a free cake. 2024 Today is when we are leaving Halifax, so my parents invited us and the whole family to have dinner for 12 people. We made a reservation at 8 oclock and the restaurant was full. The food today was of a certain standard, except that the fried onions and mushrooms were very salty. , it s a pity, but things are generally pretty good.

Normally food and service here is great. Our server was terrible, didnt come to the table for 15 mins after seated. Refused to take our food order when he finally showed up to ask about drinks. The steaks were extremely undercooked. The worst part was our server seemed to purposely avoid the table even though he saw that one of our party was not eating their steak. After 20 mins he came by and asked if we needed anything. Yeah a little late pal. The only thing he did right was take their meal off the bill because I said I wouldnt pay for it. Never apologized for the food or his lack of service. Come on mic mac do better. Turned us off for wanting to eat there anytime soon.

The food is ridiculously good. Steak, ribs, salmon, soup, you name it. Large portions. The staff is friendly and great. Atmosphere-wise I find it a bit noisy at times and perhaps a bit cramped for my liking.

Made reservations for a large party and they gave us a semi private room which was very appreciated. The food was delicious and they have a really good selection of options with a good range of prices. The service was good, although we had two servers and one was much more attentive to her tables than the other was. All in all we had a great time.
Picked up Steak & Lobster. I was told 15-20 mins and it was ready when I got there. I m thinking the Lobster are cooked earlier because it was colder than the melted butter and I live 2 mins away from restaurant ..?? I don t think it s worth $48.00 +tax.
The food is always good and plentiful! Servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Atmosphere is loud and open .. its not a take your time kind of establishment. Would I eat here again? In a heartbeat!
Always a great place to go and not feel a sense of rush - went for a lunch today food was great, waitress was kind and nice , however, was left rather unimpressed with the gentlemen with glasses who came across as annoyed to be bringing our meals to us. Not an ideal service to receive at such a wonderful restaurant. Busy or not - your duty or not being pleasant is the easiest task of all. I m sure he knows who he is as he let a little saliva fly in his sense of annoyance. Nonetheless, will be back given the many other great experiences.

Great pub style restaurant, the fish n chips were fantastic! Im from Edmonton and was looking for some authentic East Coast seafood and this place definitely hit the spot! Definitely recommend
