9 Countryview Dr, Dartmouth, NS B3B 0G4, Canada
Moxies restaurant is a contemporary casual restaurant offering a globally inspired menu and hand crafted cocktails in a vibrant and interactive atmosphere. Moxies has over 50 locations across Canada and 5 US locations in Dallas, Houston and Miami.
The service was very slow despite it not being busy. The salmon was overcooked and the quinoa was bland and under seasoned. The drinks were inconsistent in taste and the women’s washroom was filthy.
The kids meals are very big. The burgers were good but average and pricy. The dip that comes with the sweet potatoes is addicting. Lights are very dim which made it difficult for some to read the menu.
Our server was Leah and she was outstanding! She provided great guidance on our food selections. It was pleasant the entire evening! I’m not sure why anyone would stay in Halifax, as opposed to Dartmouth and visit or frequent the restaurants in Halifax, as opposed to the great locations like Moxies in Dartmouth. If you skip this restaurant, you’ve missed an opportunity at a great evening. It contained great atmosphere, great outstanding food choices, and great servers like Leah from start to finish, it was a 10.!
We had a great family meal here to celebrate my parents' 44th wedding anniversary. My mom ordered a steak medium, and it was a bit too bloody for her liking, but kudos to the servers and the manager for rectifying it quickly. All around a good meal and great dining experience.
Picked up beef Vindaloo , Give the waitress a 20% tip upon picking up my order for takeout did not seem very grateful at all. Otherwise the food was good and when I called to place the order, the gentleman who took the order was very polite and professional. The food was Delicious lots of parking
It’s great to see big chain restaurants like Moxie’s offering vegan options that are clearly labeled on their menu. The server informed us that they don’t have separate fryers for anything that’s deep fried which I appreciated him telling us so he said either the laksa or vegan tacos are a good option. My friend and I got the laksa and it was delicious and flavourful! The other server we had was really nice as well and accommodated us to share the dish.
Well, I'm here in Halifax Nova Scotia this week and had to give this place a go. My only disappointment (if this is even a disappointment), is that their Clam Chowder was more of a soup than what I would call Chowder. Keep in mind that I'm an American here in Canada, maybe Clam Chowder in this part of the World is meant to be more like a soup. Regardless, the taste was excellent. Their Poke Bowl was large enough to feed two people though. It too was very good, though this is the first time I've had thinly sliced Shitake Mushrooms in it.. Still, very good and I may return later this week.
We chose Moxie's because of the location in Dartmouth Crossing close to where we were shopping, past experience, great parking. The restaurant has a classy, dark vibe with modern features. The booth was comfortable for plus size people and we had lots of privacy. The restaurant was loud though not full, just lots of dishes clanging and dishes dropped on one occasion. Our server was brand new. She did a great job; polite, friendly, knew the menu well, checked in with us frequently but not too much, and helped me look for missing keys. The water was good for Halifax; I'm not sure if it's filtered. Our meals were quite good but definitely higher in price for quantity. The food presentation was very nice, taste was delicious and the meals sat just right with us (no stuffed bellies). I ordered the cashew chicken lettuce wraps from the appetizer menu and they were a meal on there own. My daughter ordered the mango chicken from the main dinner menu and found it small for the price. The summer menu offers lots of flavors, and we were glad we ordered the cashew dip as an appetizer or we would have still felt hungry. Overall, a very positive experience and I will go again.
Moxies has a decent brand & reputation. My visit to Dartmouth Crossing was unfortunately more negative than I wanted it to be. From a food product standpoint, my dinner was delicious. Steak cooked as ordered, great appetizer, we left full and content in that respect. It lived up to its food quality standard. However, the waitresses in the bar side at lunch seemed very uninterested in serving & were a bit short, which I felt was rude as there were many servers and few customers to attend to. Its not often I feel unwelcomed in a restaurant, so that experience stuck with me. Unfortunately , it was just an average dining experience but because of the great menu, I wouldnt turn away completely from visiting again Vegetarian options: Yes Kid-friendliness: Dinning room side & Bar side Wheelchair accessibility: Yes.
We ordered stakes well done and we got this!!!
After being seated and waiting well over 15 minutes and still not having a waitress.Give us anything but our drinks are coming to check on what we would like to order we left
Theres a lot to like about Moxies, but have to call them out on their allergy understanding, or lack thereof. We can go to the dumpiest little place at home (Clearwater) and if I present my anaphylactic mushroom and nut allergy, they will bend over backwards to try and accommodate. Moxies pretty much made me feel like an outcast, not able to tailor either of my desired order selections, and finally when a manager delivered my third option, it came with a curt warning about cross contamination... like it might have cross contamination and Im taking my chances. No separate prep offered, nothing. Sadly, though Canada stands leagues above much of the world in compassion and understanding, restaurants here dont get it at all. Moxies was just the least helpful.
My party last night at the big round table was perfect for our get together. The waitress was impeccable and recommended some great options, overall a wonderful experience.
Another excellent atmosphere, good menu and attentive servers.
Oh my. Such a wonderful experience. I despise being gluten-free and find it embarrassing to have to ask for options. Cassandra was so accommodating, and in short order, the manager was at the table, explaining things to me. The result was fantastic food. It was our wedding anniversary as well as my husbands birthday. So happy we chose to celebrate there. Thank you so very much. All of you. Oh, and the jalapeño margaritas? An absolute must have!!
What had the best experience this past weekend at Moxies in Dartmouth Crossing. From the warm welcome at the door by the hostess, to the beautiful ambiance, and the delicious meal and desserts! Our server, Oliver, was so kind, attentive and patient with our large group. He was excellent!! You can definitely tell they take much pride in proper training of staff, props to management team! We will definitely be back next time we are in town!
Great vibe, great food.
Duh-licious food! Incredibly warm and cozy atmosphere. Service was top notch.
One of our favorite restaurants in town !
Cole is amazing! From the second we sat down he welcomed us and took great care of us! He was very knowledgeable on the menu and influenced me on what to get, and boy oh boy it did not disappoint! The food was great and the service was even better! We will definitely be back:)
If you like meat, this restaurant serves very good meat. I recommend!
Hmmm wonder if they can do it twice , I,ll be back.
Meh.
Best services
Awesome service, excellent burgers.
Nice decor, friendly service. Ordered the vegetarian power bowl. Vegetarian options: Nice list of vegetarian and plant based entrees including beyond meat burger, Thai curry, tofu lettuce wraps.
Great place
Food is great, service is wonderful. As far as chain restaurants go, this is a great option
Consistent good food at a good price. Service is top notch and its a very pretty restaurant.
Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible Food
Always enjoy my time at Moxies! I love the appetizers calamari and chicken lettuce wraps!
Very nice.
Food was delicious and keylime pie to die for will definitely go back just for that yum
Very good food, alot of unique menu items that are absolutely delicious Wonderful service, very attentive and helpful. Atmosphere is nice...little loud with alot of people around, but thats just because its popular...I get it. Food : 5/5
Moxies is consistently very good! Lots of vegetarian options for those that like to eat healthier.
Delicious and fresh meal.
Best restaurants, Experience was quit good and good management as well
A very nice Modern restaurant! The staff/service is top notch, nothing to complain about, and the atmosphere is relaxing. Its definitely worth the $$$, and will be returning.
We were very fond of Moxies Dartmouth... keyword were After not having pleasant experiences in the Halifax Branch, we tried the Dartmouth branch, the first time a few weeks ago, server was amazing, she was so upbeat and attentive! My husband and I thought for sure it would be our go-to whenever were in dartmouth - that is, until the last time, on July 21st, we arrived at about maybe 7-30 -7:45. It took a good 10 minutes or so for our server to come by and take our drink /appetizer orders.. it appeared she was the only server on the floor, which when we arrived was not busy, with maybe a few tables.. nonetheless we gave benefit of the doubt at the start as she was the only one on the floor with the manager bringing the apps. When the food arrived, she never came back to check on us, she never offered pop refills nor water refills. We had to ask her as she was passing by, each time. We ordered dessert, which we never got to enjoy at the table as it took more than 15 minutes to get to us. We had to ask another employee cleaning tables if the dessert would be ready soon and if so, to bag it up as we cant stay any longer, or wed have to cancel it. At this point there may have been 1 table besides us in the whole restaurant or just us left, I cant remember. It was frustrating seeing many tables with more guests per table that came after us, leave before us, - we were there for far too long, approx 9:30. With a toddler and a baby becoming fussy, Our server arrives later on with our bill wed asked for long before that, and I ask about the dessert - to which she responds itll be a few minutes more and that its being packed up. My husband pays the bill, our server says nothing. No thank you for coming in today. Have a good day Just nothing. She offers no apology about the wait or very slow service. We leave to put our children in the car as they are getting cranky, and our server brings the dessert out. We thanked her and all she said was no problem Service and how we are treated while dining out is very important to me, just as important as the food quality as I am coming from a background in the food industry as well, and I have served my fair share of patrons and know how to give exceptional, attentive service. The food is good, the service is turtle-slow, inattentive, and unkind. My husband and I eat out quite a lot, and are disappointed that we do not feel welcome dining at Moxies Dartmouth.
Nice
We went here for a birthday dinner for my dad and the food was great! Very nice restaurant, the atmosphere was really unique and fancy. What we all really found the most impressive was our waiter Oliver! Extremely friendly and helpful, he was super quick and attentive. We would go back just for the wonderful service. Keep up the amazing work Oliver! You really are great at what you do
Food is great and so is atmosphere.
I had this last night. Salmon sandwich was chefs kiss tender, moist with just the right citrus hit and light hit of heat. The garlic parmesan fries had a generous sprinking of parm and the side of garlic aoili was perfect. We shared the churro. Took the recommendation to drizzle caramel over top and that was excellent!! The ice cream in it is as good as French vanilla Hagan daaz imo. Great service! Would get again! Parking: Lots of room for parking.
The AC was out and 2 separate occasions the cocktail I requested was unable to made. The service was good but the food was just okay. I feel like we should have been informed the AC was out when we arrived before we ordered. We also felt terrible for the kitchen staff having to work in that. Edited review due to the business wanting for information. Ive been a big fan of Moxies but my last few visits werent up to usual standard.
Probably the best chain restaurant in dartmouth, everything is good on the menu with some creative dishes. Dessert menu isnt that great but any of the dinner/lunch options are good. Fairly broad menu choices too which is nice if youre unsure of what you want. Parking: One of the best parking lots - always space and no need to pay.
Pretty good.
Quiet, low key and classy
The server was amazing and the blackened chicken burger is absolutely delicious Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options. They even have a gluten free menu!!
We always go here when in the area.
Just had a five star meal with Scott (the manager) taking care of us. Service was amazing, appetizer suggestion was great, and a perfect day on the patio. Keep up the great work, you have a great team to look after you here.
Food was ok, service was horrible. They offer that they are a kid friendly restaurant however upon arrival with our child they did not share the kids menu with us, we had to look it up online ourselves, service was not very accommodating. Food was pricy, drinks in my opinion were pricy and not worth the premium. Kid-friendliness: Not very kid friendly, no crayons or menu for kids, we had to look up the kid menu online ourselves. Servers do not seem very accommodating for kids, we had to ask for a high chair and it was not offered to us.
Amazing service amazing food; shout out to Shelby she was so nice, gave drink refills without having to ask and brought bills quickly too! (Other half thought the mahi mahi had to much pepper but I thought it was fine )
We havent been to Moxies in years. Decided to go today. What a waste of money. Service was mediocre. Never asked if was needed anything, if we were enjoying our food...nothing! Pathetic! Food expensive and salty. $87.63 later for a Margareta, a cider, calamari appetizer and a so called cobb salad. That was it $87.63 tip included. NEVER AGAIN!
Great time here, just as good as the Bayers Lake location. Excellent food. Prompt service.
First time I went to any Moxies, will for sure be my last. Service was terrible, our server was more interested in gossiping with co-workers then helping us. Had to ask multiple times for basic things (water), and got an annoyed attitude every time we tried to get service. Food tasted burnt. Was never asked how things tasted. Appetizer arrived after the mains. Best service we had was from a lovely girl who came to clear our plates. She was so nice, wish the whole meal could have been with her.
Steak was as bland as it gets. I could have done a better job and made it taste better. $40 for the most over priced meal I ever ate. Don t waste your money. Parking: Mall lot Kid-friendliness: Big kids serving.
Hadnt been in awhile ! Enjoyed everything from the bellini to the lunch and dessert
A very disappointing experience at Moxies three times now, with the most recent being on April 20, 2022. Its frustrating when a restaurant doesnt meet expectations, especially when youre looking forward to a nice meal with friends or family. The french fries were excellent but the portion size and quality of my chicken and ribs combo seem particularly disappointing, not to mention the ambiance being less than ideal with low lighting and loud bassy music interfering with conversation. We will not be back.
I hadnt been to a Moxies in probably 15 years and is not the kind of place I would normal go. Yet, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was good, atmosphere was nice and the service was exceptional.
Service was really good until the last minute, Server copped a bit of an attitude when she saw me tip her only 15%.... With her attitude change, she was lucky to get that!!!!
Good food, good staff and beautiful restaurant for special dinner.
Ordered tenderloin med rare arrived med well and looked and tasted like it had been under a heat lamp since lunch rush. It was 2pm. Generally have had excellent food but not on this visit. Edit: I will admit the staff offered to replace it but I was on a tight time schedule and ethically hate to see food wasted. Edit 2: I was contacted by the excellent manager and he has assured me of the steps being taken to avoid a repeat. Hats off to good customer service.
Amazing meal again! Served by great staff. Tuna stack followed by the best blackened fish!
I was excited to find a nice restaurant with a great kids menu. The food was good, my kids tried the salmon, pizza, and burgers. My only complaint was that the seasonal veggie sides were cute into rather large chunks for kids. Even for adults 2-3 chunks of zucchini is a lot to handle. The kids ice cream dessert severed over dry ice at the end of the meal was spectacular and made for a great end of our experience. We can t wait to visit again! Kid-friendliness: Kids were provided with a coloring placemat and crayons when we sat down. They had a great kids menu with a wide selection of choices, dessert was included in the kids menu and made for a fun end of the meal.
We went to Moxies on a Wednesday night about 1.5 hours before closing. Service was prompt with menu s handed out immediately, followed by a follow up for drinks with a quick return. The wait stuff was kind and attentive. The food itself left something to be desired. The pasta and chicken were both overdone (soggy pasta and dry chicken). As well, the club-like music was loud. It was easy enough to talk with friends at the table but there was no way to adjust the music or even change the volume to the playoff hockey game instead. Moxies has promise but ultimately missed a better review on this night as a result of the low food quality and club-like atmosphere. Parking: There are numerous free parking spots outside the restaurant on a surface paved lot.
Moxies menu is lacking and has gotten worse. Overpriced compared to similar venues and this location can get quite loud, quickly.
Good
Food was good, but service was lackluster until it was time to pay.
Server was great assisted us in finding something we needed
Food was good, no complaints there, but our waiter was exceptional. Very friendly, professional, and attentive. Atmosphere is great too.
Super cute atmosphere and delicious food. Excellent service.
Very professional staff. Food was delicious and quick from kitchen. Reasonably priced. Would eat there again.
Food taste is good al most every dishes taste good..
Food is excellent, and portion sizes are very good. Wait staff are very friendly and helpful.
Atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for as we went on date night, staff was friendly but busy, seemed a bit short staffed on the bar side. We ordered Thai chicken and avocado dip for appetizers and split a rib eye dinner for our meal. The appetizers were great but very disappointed in the 43 dollar 13oz ribeye with loaded mashed potatoes. The ribeye was small and thin, lots of fat while the potatoes came out looking like potato soup with cheese and bacon bits slapped on the plate. We made our way thru the dinner but before left my wife was already sick throwing up the potatoes in the bathroom and then me later at the hotel. Very disappointed in this and ruined our evening as a busy couple finally getting out on date night. For one of the high price menu items it was very poorly presented and done
Really good food and atmosphere.
Was a little disappointed. Had better service in Halifax
Had the Vindaloo which was very tasty and was asked if I wanted cream or milk for my coffee which was a first for me as I prefer milk but have always got cream..service very attentive, polite and helpful.
Dinner was fine untill a rat ran under the table across from us and this put a damper on the meal. Shouldnt have to say much more rather unfortunate.
Vegetarian options: Delicious Food
Yummy alfredo
A celebration on New Years Eve.My favourite on the menu is French Dip with fries but everyone, including the children, was pleased with the meal and service. I cant wait to go again !
Music way to loud
Came in around 1:30 on dec 23rd. Place wasnt overly busy. Maybe a bit more than handful of tables on the lounge side. The girls at the door showed us to our seat in a round booth close to the window and gave us our menus. 45 minutes later no one had come to take any orders or check on us at all. My wife made eye contact with one of the servers and the server looked away quickly and stared out the window. We got up and left. Not likely to ever go back. Plenty of other choices around dartmouth. We went to seamus davids around the corner and we were in, served, and ate in under 40 minutes. Came to use a $25 gift card and have a nice meal. Well be giving it to someone else. Edit: was offered a $50 gift card to be mailed out to me as an apology. Never recieved it.
This is a go-to spot for my family for years. Never disappointed with the food and service. Very clean and modern looking restaurant. Looking forward to my next visit.
The food portions are generous and the taste is very good. They have very good customer service. I find the prices a bit high in some dishes
Pleased. First time visit. Was craving nachos with chicken. It was tasty and do much that I couldnt eat half. No disappointment whatsoever. I will be returning. Parking: The only complaint is the parking spots should be wider then they are. Not worth discomfort for adding 3 or 4 spots.
Great service, food and reasonable prices
Excellent food and atmosphere. The salmon dish was cooked to perfection as was the beef vindaloo. Their diet cokes were a bit flat but the food and ambience more than made up for it. The toffee dessert was huge and delicious.
Food , price and service was great and Lea R was very good in her service smile and even small attention ( French note )
Great food, cozy and dim setting with music keeping things lively. Guacamole was great and fresh especially, and spicy black bean was delicious. Vegetarian options: Great plant-based selection, tasty and beyond the typical veggie burger/salad options
The Peppercorn burger bash burger and fries were amazing. The waitress with the black eye only offered a glass of water when we sat down, then we had to constantly ask for refills
burger week burger, very tasty with peppercorn sauce and mushrooms.
The food and service was great, but it was priced too high for what you get
Vegetarian options: We were able to find lots of great options for the vegetarians in our group. Consistently open to any adjustments and great taste and service Food
Took great care to ensure my dish was gluten free.. great staff and atmosphere
We had dairy allergy concerns and they staff was exceptional with the order, ensuring what was ordered was ok for my child to eat. The food was delicious and the atmosphere relaxing Dietary restrictions: Dairy allergy Kid-friendliness: The kids were welcomed and we all felt very comfortable.
Absolutely loved it! Food was delish
We had a wonderful meal here this evening. The staff is knowledgeable and able to provide great guidance. We all loved our meals, and everything was wonderfully presented (our child especially loved thevolcano icecream). Definitely plan to return.
Lunch was soup, salad, garlic bread. Fabulous flavors, wonderful curry soup, thick and yummy. Huge salad, a nice hunk of bread.
Service was amazing. Beef vindaloo and Cachew chicken wraps were incredible. With prices up everywhere, its nice when the experience matches the cost.
Great food but little expensive.server was nice and patient because we waited a bit before ordering anything.overall a good experience.
Over priced for the food
Always great food and great people no matter which city I m in.
Went to dinner with friends and the food from starter to desert was delicious. The best part was our amazing server Taylor that was just an absolute angel!
I havent been here in years but the food was very good. Service was good and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place.
Movies never disappoints. Our waitress, Himaly, could not have been better. When 2 items were not available she made several suggestions on other items or how substitutions could be made with the items that were sold out. Her drink recommendation was bang on. Our table was comfortable. Atmosphere was good. I will definitely dine at Moxies again.
The food was delicious and our server and manager were both awesome! The restaurant was beautiful but a little too loud but overall it was a great night.
Great food and excellent service!
Great place Kid-friendliness: Good child accommodation Food : 5/5 |
Average at best! The quality of the food and service both.
Found the menu limited
Stopped in tonight with my wife for supper, burgers were plain tasting nothing great, waited some time for our order, food came and the waitress did NOT stop by once to ask how our meal was, no refill on drinks, then our empty plates sat at our table for quite a long time, still no waitress, I go to the mens room come back and no bill no nothing, plates still there. My wife asked another server for our bill, he quickly removed our dirty dishes and still waited another almost 15min for the bill. We frequent moxies often but will not be back , this was just simply unacceptable, I usually tip well but tonight there was $0 tip due to the extremely poor service! Do better moxies!! Scott
The booth, lights and walls were covered it food schmutz and finger prints. Insanely gross.for a Moxies. The ribeye was not seasoned. The waitress was good. Wont be back due to the disgusting state of the restaurant.
Thirty dollars for a Caesar salad with Cajun chicken and a diet cola seems a bit expensive?
Food was awesome The New York done medium well was beautiful, highly recommended. Service.... very nice and polite but slow. Salad came after dinner and water took at least 5 min from when we first sat down. Great place but a few more staff at peak times may be worth considering.
Fantastic food
Great atmosphere. Staff were friendly. Drinks and food were brought out quick. No issues at all. Overall a present experience. I will come back for another visit.
Chicken Madeira is the best!
Great food and service.
Great place to have happy hour on the patio with my puppy. Parking: Love the pet friendly deck Food : 4/5 |
Service was good. Steak was ok. Mashed potatoes tasted like powdered potatoes. We needed to drink water to get them down. They put 1/2 of a of broccoli our plates - not cut up - a huge chunk including stalk. I will not be back.
Great food and service but infested with mice.
Firstly, had to ask if we could be moved away from the window & we requested a booth. The booth they placed us at was next to the kitchen. Extremely noisy. Sister-in-law ordered chicken & ribs. She said the ribs were awesome, but the chicken was so spicy, she couldnt eat it. Left a entire chicken breast on her plate. I had summer special spagetti with kale, broccoli & overloaded with way to much garlic. When I told the server about the 2 above mentioned issues, she offered a free desert. The servers were very polite but offered no reduction or replacement. Not a impressed customer.
Typical chain restaurant. Service was good, staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful to our needs. Price point is on par with restaurants in this category. Food came quickly, with good portions. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.
was amazing service and the food was even better!! 10/10
Consistently good food. Good service.
The service was good ,I found the meal overpriced in comparison to the quality of the food.
Great staff, great food. Little pricey but worth it
Ive gone to Moxies numerous times. Ive never been disappointed. Food is delicious. Staff are friendly and very efficient. They work together to ensure customers are given the best service possible. Great job, Moxies!
Nadine was incredible. We had a tough day and incredible service and friendly personality made our night better and the food and service were great!
Its very dark
Always a great experience at Moxies. Had the ribs, truffle fries, and lettuce wraps, and all were great. Ribs were fall off the bone and great flavor. Excellent service and great atmosphere.
A bit expensive but good, is a competitor to Keg
Nice place, good food.
mushrooms sirloin was very good. Even the term was just right
Good
Good food & nice conversation servers
Great place with great food! The service here is excellent! I cant say enough about how great the staff is! Parking: With it being in the Dartmouth Crossing location, it has plenty of parking around it.
Had a delicious meal! Service was excellent. Atmosphere was fun. Love the booths in the bar area. Feels like you are in a private space but there are people around you. Will be back.
Fantastic meal and great place for an evening out.
I had the bacon cheese burger and it was really good.
I ordered a bacon burger. It was small and tasteless. The fries were nothing special. This is the reason I normally dont go out to eat and usually stay clear of a chain restaurant. My spouses meal was equally overpriced and boring. The server was pleasant though. Parking: Very hard to find entrance to parking lot due the boulevard in front of the main entrance.
