Since the restaurant underwent new management, I was dubious but I must say that the last few times that I ate in the dining room were very good. The decor is dated and could use some improvements but the food, although the menu had been minimal, has definitely improved. The combination plates were hot, fresh and very flavorful. The staff were very attentive.

The best Chinese food (North American style) in HRM. The price is great, portions are quite generous, staff is friendly. Highly reccomend the beef broccoli and the chicken balls.

Sick with a cold and the only thing I wanted was hot and sour soup. I received watered-down plum sauce with a few small chunks of tofu. It wasnt edible.

Small portions and food has no taste. Sauces and gravy are watered down. They no longer offer Canadian Food on the menu. Staff are not friendly like when the Fong Family owned it. No one comes back to see how the meal was or if there is anything else you need.

This place has been around for decades. Always a good spot for good local Chinese food. They have GF options and are good with their proportion. I wish they had the dirty pork paste egg rolls though. Otherwise its a great spot for takeout! Dietary restrictions: GF Parking: Free and decent size lot Wheelchair accessibility: Flat entrance, but they have a door to the mudroom and then another to the restaurant.

Some dishes were bit under par, because theyre usually delicious. Well be back

Best chinese food in Dartmouth/cole harbour that I have had!

Fong has been our Chinese restaurant go-to delivery place for the last year (we had switched). We both have been very happy with the quality of the food. Prices are a little high but you get what you pay for. Our only comment is the Ginger beef and the Broccoli and beef should have a little more beef them. Deliveries well-packed, even card-board placed on bottom of the bag to make things easier. Solid 4-star rating.

Great Chinese food! Never disappointed, staff is always friendly. But location needs a renovation, I had my high school grad there 20 years and still looks exactly the same.

On Fathers Day 2023, it was take-out only. There was a bit of a wait but the food was quite good.

Came in for lunch after being away for three years. Gone are the days of pleasant waitresses and great at Fongs Food was extremely salty.

Awesome dinner! New owners are very nice and friendly. Food quality is the same as it always has been very fresh vegetables Kid-friendliness: When my daughter ordered a drink that they did not have, the waitress brought over all of her selections to help her decide which I thought was very nice

Got takeout, dinner for five. There were only three of us but we wanted to get extra food for leftovers. We were quite disappointed by the portion sizes. Other restaurants of this category have excellent portion sizes, here they did not. The dinner for five was nearly $100 and we had just enough food to feed the three of us despite getting the dinner for five. Glad we didnt opt for the dinner for three given this. The food itself was good and the egg rolls were excellent. But based on the portion and pricing wont be choosing Fongs again.

Went in today and ordered two chicken ball specials and an order of deep fried won tons. Open it up 2 hours later and got gross won ton soup. Clerks got to learn to listen. Heading back to get my won tons and bringing their disgusting soup back. They made me my won tons.

Been going here for 40+ years and never once had a complaint. Christmas eve dinner from Fongs a family tradition.

This is the third time ordering since the new owners took over, and the third time they couldn t get it right, whoever answered the phone didn t even know what or if they had mushroom chop suey, it s getting really frustrating, don t get me wrong, the food is good but it would be better if it was made as requested. Be a while before I spend more money there miss the previous owners and staff

I give Fongs 5 stars for excelling at what it is meant to be: good basic chinese food, excellent prices, large quantities and really friendly customer service. Singapore noodles, ginger chicken, lemon chicken, beef broccoli and almond ding are our favourites. The egg rolls are amazing as well! I find the food is very consistent and SO fast. I can call and have it hot and ready in 15 mins.

I wish I had read the reviews before we ordered. Fongs held up their reputation. The absolute worst Chinese food we have ever had. The hot and sour soup was canned beef vegetable soup with spices and tofu added. The soo guy was soggy and tasteless. The chop suey also completely tasteless with pieces of rubbery chicken. Not quite sure how you can ruin chicken fried rice but they managed. I would love to comment on the spring roll but they didn t bother to send it. Instead we got an egg roll with a mystery mixture that was inedible. Overall .awful.

Updated, see below. My favorite place to get ginger beef, definitely the best ginger beef in HRM. I have never had a dish I did not like at fongs, except for the fried rice which was often dry. I hope the new owners keep the recipies the same, they are unique and excellent. Update: The ginger beef has gotten squishy, sweeter and way less gingery. The meat paste egg roll filling has become a cabbage/meat filling. The spring rolls contain little except cabbage. Disappointing to see the quality apparently slipping.

Is a good place to eat chinis food

I havent eaten here in years but the meal was good and it was not too expensive. The only thing I missed was water chestnuts in my chicken chow mein. The eggrolls and chicken balls were quite good.

Walked into the restaurant and had seated myself at a table that hadn t been cleaned up from and they were busy and understaffed the girl was distracted and half cleaned the table still leaving plates and napkins as we waited for 15 plus minutes and elderly couple who sat after us was brought their menus as we sat waiting an additional 5 minutes so we walked out not knowing how good or bad the food was and I m currently sit at U like it Chinese food on Main Street with a meal in front of me within 10 minutes of sitting down so I will never be back to Fongs again. Ive been coming here since I was a child, nearly 30 years ago, and my family has been coming even longer than that. Ive never had any issues. The staff is great and knows a lot of my family on sight, and the food is always superb! I definitely recommend the almond soo gai and the sweet and sour chicken. Their eggrolls are great, too, primarily meat without too much other filling. 10/10

Cosy place. Typical Dartmouth Chinese dining experience, dated decorations and exactly the menu you would expect. Went for Sunday buffet at noon time. Food turnover and refresh was good. Taste was on point for Canadian Chinese. Our waitress was a standout, friendly, attentive without being annoying and a great smile!

Nova Scotia has the weirdest egg rolls around, but Fongs are decent. A good quick and cheap lunch menu too.

Consistently solid. Great staff, clean tasting food, not too greasy, not too salty. Very interesting canadian twists on certain classic chinese dishes, like hot and sour soup. The prices went up recently, but not by much at all, they re still very reasonable for the quality and portion size The building could do with a little updating, especially the restrooms, but it s not dinge-y or foul, just... long in the tooth. It has character we ll say. Try the BoBo balls, they re really very good.

Ate there yesterday for the first in a long time,it was absolutely HORRIBLE!!!! If you are thinking about ordering here DONT!! The honey garlic ribs did not taste like honey garlic at all,they had a chemical taste,the egg rolls were dark brown cause they were so burnt

I had there Sunday Buffett once. Everything was soggy,bland and tastless. Even their eggrolls were stuffed with some disgusting abomination of filler I couldnt recognize. I dont know how they managed to keep there doors open as long as they have. Instead I recommend these places: LOOK HO HO on Bayers rd in Halifax. CHINATOWN in Bedford. THE GREAT WALL in Downtown Halifax or WONGS PALACE on Portland st in Dartmouth.

Pros -. Very friendly. Food is decent Cons - take out could have been better. Chicken balls were completely drowned in sauce and so soggy. Egg rolls were so soggy that they were drooping when you pick it up. Maybe put the sauce on the side.

Used to be a good place but not no more. Order this last night and I m pretty sure the beef was bad or something I ate wasn t cooked . Came home and ate it and few hours later ... power puked , runs , dizzy , sweating. Wouldn t recommend .

Been eating at Fongs for decades, always been my favorite and always had great food. Last few years the food has become tasteless, their famous egg rolls are terrible now, the egg roll sauce is so watered down it is useless and the size of the take out orders is half the size it used to be. I will not be going back. What a shame, I used to brag to ppl about how good they were.

I was at Fongs last night with my hubby... we go there often. Well.. the waitress spilled very hot garlic rib sauce all over my bare arm , down on my Jeans and all over the seat! Burned my arm terribly! If that wasnt enough... I found a very small chicken bone in my chicken ball and almost checked! They didnt seem the least bit concerned when I told the manager before we left. And we still had to pay for the meal! STAY AWAY FROM FONGS ON COLE HARBOUR ROAD IN DARTMOUTH

If I had the option to give this place a zero star I would. Ordered food got it home. Rice burnt and burnt pan bits all over It. The chicken chowmein is greasy and leaves a gross after taste. Never go here. As I am typing this I feel like throwing up.

It was good. The egg rolls were yummy and the gai ding was the perfect crunch.
