Surprisingly great food! Was expecting more typical to pub quality food. This was definitely above that. Found the muscles a little too salty but everything else was delicious

As a first time costumer I am happy to say that the food I encountered today was absolutely Delicious !!! I had the steak wrap with the all dressed fries and my goodness this review will not do it justice. Beautiful service and the atmosphere made me feel very at ease. I will be back again.

Visited this place over the weekend for a meal and was thoroughly impressed!Outstanding service , delicious food and impeccable hygiene standards. Everyone in our group enjoyed the meal and we re already planning for our next visit for the D5 burger!

This place baffles me. Is it a sports bar? No because they cant seem to put the game on. Is it a dive bar? Not really, they seem to be trying for an upscale vibe. Is it an upscale pub? No, too many different elements to have a theme. Its a mystery. But the staff were really nice and helpful. Try it and decide for yourself. I have no idea.

Came for burger week - it was pretty solid, nothing wrong with the food by any means, but not the craziest offering ever. The only unfortunate aspect of our visit was the service. The entire staff seemed to be very confused, as it took a supremely long time to get seated, then table settings, then order, then food, then cheque. Just a bit of an out-to-lunch vibe overall, as at this point it wasnt even busy anymore from burger week.

Hands down the best caesar salad in HRM! I dont know what their secret is but you just cant beat it. Staff are wonderful. Very cosy environment. Dietary restrictions: There are gluten friendly options available here

The best place! Amazing food and amazing atmosphere

Food and prices are great if you can ever get it. Weve been here three times, giving it extra chances as I live upstairs. But weve been here for an hour and all weve gotten is a mimosa. Tables came in after us and got served first. Im absolutely starving and were about to leave to go to Tim Hortons. UPDATE: We were contacted by the restaurant rather quickly, offered to rectify our experience at our earliest convenience. We secretly went a couple times thereafter and the experience was much better. The food has always been great so if youve had a bad experience, maybe give them one more shot. (Im still going to cash in the comp meal though )

well, I ve been coming to district 5 for a few years now and I love their pasta. I get it every time I come here . Damn, it s hot.and always fresh. Server Jessica is Is so sweet and nice. one thing i love about district 5 is that actively engage in conversation with their customers. i love communication where I spend my hard earned money. D5 is 100% communicative and welcoming to all.

Ive been here quite a few times, and this place is slowly going downhill. The tall blonde waitress was an absolute nightmare. The place wasnt overly busy, yet she was very rude and impatient and continuously rolled her eyes at me and other customers when we needed a minute to order. When some of her customers were only trying to tell her that she overcharged them, she argued with them instead of trying to be reasonable and then she talked loudly to her coworker and in front of customers about other customers being cheap after they left. This is not the kind of customer service one would expect from a reputable place. As someone who also works in customer service I understand it can be hard sometimes but thats when we need to put on the fake smile and fake happy voice and fake it till we make it, thats what customer service is about, not disrespect. I unfortunately wont be back if this is the kind of staff they now have hired. It is a shame because they had the best brunch, but its not worth the disrespect from the waitress.

My first time there for a late lunch and drinks. It was great. Got the steak wrap, it was good. Music was a bit loud, we were the only ones there, hard to converse. It would be an ok level if the it was busy, as it will be later on.

Decided to check this place out for the first time today, for brunch with a friend. I felt bad that we were the only customers from 10 til about 11, but it made for a nice, peaceful meal compared to busier places which I find can be loud and annoying. I didnt count, but would say theres seating for maybe 25-30 amongst the several tables. Friendly service. Free mimosa with each breakfast meal! I never order them but couldnt say no to that and really enjoyed mine, made with grapefruit juice. Good sized mugs of coffee. They had run out of avocado, and we both were hoping to have ordered the avocado toast. But that was fine, I still enjoyed the main basic breakfast of standard brown toast, eggs, bacon, potatoes and salad. The potatoes were seasoned and cut into big crispy chunks that I liked. My friend quite enjoyed the eggs benny that had a dollop of basil pesto, that also comes with salad. A cute touch was that the server brought out bite-sized samples of raspberry cheesecake on a skewers for us to sample. We were both full leaving and Id not want dessert after a breakfast, but still good to try. 2nd visit: 10am on a sunny Saturday in Feb 2023. I was only one of two tables taken. Bit cold inside but I dont mind that. Friendly server. Tried the avocado toast this time and it is quite the large serving that I had trouble finishing. I think it mustve been a full avocado and was seasoned in oregano I believe, giving a fairly strong flavor. Almost too dominating, but way better than bland ones you often get elsewhere. I feel the toast itself got lost under all the toppings. Lol Came with a side salad and their delicious home fries. Ill be back! Actually I wouldve been back sooner but have not been able to find street parking on a few occasions. There are a couple of paid lots nearby though, if needed.

HIDDEN GEM ALERT!!! Have eaten here three times now, twice for brunch and once for supper, and each time I have been SHOCKED by the amazing quality of the food. Also: a free mimosa with brunch on the weekends?? YES PLEASE!!! This is a must try place. You wont be disappointed. But if you are, take a long, hard look in the mirror and ask yourself: Whats wrong with ME? Because its definitely you, not District Five.

Talk about a hidden gem. Who would guess that a bar & grill in downtown Dartmouth would have one of the best brunches in the city? The menu isn t huge, but the portions and quality make up for it. Plus, they have free Mimosas and Caesars! You re welcome!!!

Got to the restaurant at 6pm. Ordered drinks then my meal at 6:30. An hour and a half later still no meal. Worst service I have ever experienced. Last time here for me.

This is a hidden gem with ah-may-zing food!!! Chef Rico was easily able to do a specialty order for me (Im gluten free) and it was so delicious! Chef Rico came out to introduce himself and see how our food was - a very nice personal touch. Service was friendly and prompt. Would be nice if there was an outdoor patio for summer. We will definitely be back!

My partner and I dropped in this weekend for Brunch. We both ordered the breakfast burger for 16$ The burger was GINORMOUS! With the burger came the best fries I have ever had from any restaurant, AND the most delicious salad. Furthermore they gave us FREE mimosas with brunch. I was speechless when the waitress brought us out our food, it looked and was delicious, both my partner and I took some home with us.

went in & wasnt greeted at all. Ordered Calamari & it was literally falling apart when dipping it in the sauce.. Fries was bathe in Cajun seasoning!! Steak wrap was SALTY. honestly find a better cook. if u guys want SALTY food & 90% cajun seasoning 10% fries, This is the Spot!

The staff here are incredible. Ive been frequenting this spot for the last 3 months and Ive basically become family. The food is outstanding and everything is made from scratch. The chef Rico, creates great dishes full of flavour and the presentation is lovely. I highly recommend this place for great atmosphere, welcoming staff, and delicious food. You wont be disappointed

Stopped in for lunch. We had super fast service and they had a nice little lunch special menu. I had the fish tacos and they were the so fresh and a huge piece of fish in each. Best Ive had in a long time. Fries were home cut and seasoned well. Seem led like they may of been double fried. Numnum. My lunch date had the souvlaki with a greak salad. Salad was fresh and light and the chicken was cook perfectly. Super moist and juicy. My first time in and I was more than pleased. Great work by they chef and staff will definitely be back to try some dinner options,

Chef Rico knows what he s doing. Not only are the drinks great, but the food is out of this out amazing. He came out to the restaurant personally to check on our food and ask for feedback. This is a chef who wants this place to grow, and wants to provide the best possible service he can. He s passionate about what he does. My husband and I had brunch here this morning and it was amazing! The place was very quiet - we were surprised that there weren t more people dining considering how wonderful the food was. This is definitely a hidden gem in downtown Dartmouth! We had the eggs benedict and the avocado toast, which we d highly recommend trying.

When I say this is a team restaurant it shows. An unexpected party of 10 walked in after us , a party of 5 no reservation (sorry), and they couldn t of been more accommodating. The chef seen what was happening and immediately came out to help take food orders to start our order and the server started the new table. That is service. The food was all perfectly seasoned, temped and amazing. Thanks for having us and showing such great hospitality. We will be back

The Food is delicious. I like the atmosphere of the restaurant. The drinks and food are pretty decent in price range compared to other places. The service was good too. Overall I would go back for a nice Lunch or Dinner.

I got the Eggs Benny, it was delicious! The biscuit was fresh, tasted great, and fell apart. The salad had a very tasty dressing and the smash home fries were great I will go back. They need to update their menu on their website.

Had the steak wrap as thats what the server suggest, was ok kinda sloppy ... ordered the all dressed fries as an app. They were good, but cold. And then pretty much the same fries came with the wrap. Server should have said when we ordered.. was cold in there too not sure what was up with heat. We were there during trivia night, it was a full house. Atmosphere was great.

Tried this place for the first time last night on a recommendation from a friend. The service was great, the food was really really good and they even had some live entertainment which was also very enjoyable. Hopefully some day theyll have a full size fish sandwich! Haha Ill be back.

Pan fried Haddock was good, fresh and well prepared. It did take a long time. Restaurant was quite cold. The single radiant heater was not capable of warming the space.

Me and my wife just tried this place recently, and it was delicious! We got the variety platter to share (not pictured) and I got the D5 burger. Although the burger was pretty plain (which is what I like), it was delicious! Oh, and the portions are more than fair. If youre into having a few drinks with your meal, try The District 5! It was incredible. I took a picture so I could replicate it at home

Food was fantastic and prepared in a refreshingly traditional way way. Weve been there a few times and both times they seemed reluctant to make weekend brunch, which seemed odd.

When District 5 first opened I was excited cause it was a new addition to the area that seemed promising. My first visit was just a few weeks after they opened, and the server was seemingly confused and made some errors, but I hashed it up to the place being new. Then a few months later I reached out via social media asking about whether they were showing a certain sporting event. I didn t get a reply, which is understandable, but a week later I looked and the message said read , but there was no reply. Seemed unwelcoming that there was no reply. Anything would have been better than that nothing. My mom, being new to the world of delivery apps was wowed by them. And I hashed it up to her appreciating good fish and chips (maybe it s true?). But her rave reviews had me wonder if my disappointments were just bad timing on my end. I still waited several months before I went back, because there s reliably great places in the neighbourhood. My girlfriend and I flipped a coin over whether to try district 5, which she had never been to, or Jacob s Lounge, which has never let us down. District 5 won the coin toss. It was the same as before. Confused service, choppy delivery, and the food was fine, but kind of disappointing itself, and couldn t make up for the lacklustre experience. Overall, it feels like a place launched by people that never worked in the service industry, tried to check all the boxes they saw on Bar Rescue when they launched, and then forgot to bring in seasoned staff to train people, so it s a bar that would be featured on Bar Rescue. When we were going, my girlfriend made fun of me because she felt I must have been embellishing my two prior disappointments with this bar, but she understood what I meant quickly enough. Also, they should turn the heat on, it was really chilly in there. I gave two stars because at least they made my mom happy those times.

Every time we ve eaten in the restaurant - (sadly only one time ), or when we ve ordered deliver it s been sooooo good. I keep telling my partner that it seems like the chef and I have such a similar taste palette because I m just so in love with the spice and flavour of everything. Thanks for always being 100

Went with a friend this morning for brunch. This was my first time and I can say wholeheartedly everything was phenomenal. I was hyped about chicken waffles and it wasnt short of amazing. The chicken was tasty and bacon was crunchy! Waffles were served with maple syrup! The service was wonderful too, we were the first ones in and although few more tables came in, the server didnt neglect us. Coffee was too strong for me but its caffeine so thats not really a bad thing lol. Free mimosa with brunch is also a score! I highly recommend this place for a good brunch meal. Just go!

Food wasnt very good, interior isnt very nice. Went with 8 people and not a single person ate more than half their meal. I had fish and chips. Fish had chunks of wet batter. Pretty gross. Live music was very good though.

A tavern at the high end of the spectrum. An upscale take on pub food. Very friendly people. I come here all the time and have never had a problem getting a table.

A pitcher of sangaria is the same as 2 very full glasses, might as well save the $2 and just get a glass each. Trivia was good. Service was okay.

This was our third visit in about 18 months and up until now we were very happy with the service and the food but, unfortunately, it did not live up to our expectations this time around. The service was average as the server wasnt very knowledgeable about the menu items and had to go and ask a few times when we had questions. The other issue was that they had run out of several items and the menu is not that extensive so when three items arent available the choices are reduced. Its a shame because of our previous positive experiences.

The prices on website and in house menu are not the same, illegal in the uk. The steak wrap was way too salty. If we weren t polite hungry Brits we would have walked out. Probably the worst meal I ve ever had in my life

Millennial hipster food. Looks good in a photo, doesnt do much for the palette. Service was slow and our food took over 90min to arrive, despite there only be 3 other tables occupied. Menu shows steak, but they have apparently been out for months, and havent updated the menu or even crossed it off the current one. Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone, and we certainly wont be going back. I spent a decade in the industry as a cook, and I would normally give a second chance, but the combination of bland food, slow service and high prices are three strikes as far as Im concerned.

Was excited to try this place. The opportunity arose so we went on in, didnt even have to wait for a table! Sat for 25 minutes, got passed by two servers 5 or 6 times each. They didnt even acknowledge my guest and I, not even a glance. Got up and went next door for delicious ramen with prompt, excellent service.

Hoenstly the food here was amazing and ill continue to order lunches here but I was really disappointed in the server we had Friday night. We sat way too long with our menus down ready to order and no checking of are we getting food and one of us was ignored for drinks. She also was hugging every table and during covid times I really didnt feel that was acceptable.

Food here is unreal. Popped in on a Friday evening, no reservations. There was live music and my gf and I were blown away by the food. I highly recommend this hidden gem.

6 stars if I could surprised the care in preparation of food went on a weekday wasnt busy. Had the chowder and a salad I will call a dance of tomatoes (forget name) East coast sets a standard for seafood chowders, on that day district 5s was one of the lightest chowders I ever had with a range of fresh sea foods placed with care in the bowl. I love the heavy creamy chowders but the light one they had was almost rejuvenating. Im weird went with a salad main. It had 2 different types of tomatoes the theme almost and cheese small enough pieces they mixed in every bite. I was slightly haunted by how good it was leaving the pub it was like a storm of tomatoes had danced in my memories. A great last meal in Dartmouth the beer on tap probably amplified the flavor

It was our first time there. The waitress was very nice and our food was tasty but not outstanding. I was disappointed that there seemed to be a few regulars there that were not being asked to keep their masks on as they wandered about the bar area and restaurant.

Great variety of beer and drinks and a great wing special on now.

Went to secure a table for myself and friends and stood at the counter ignored while the only two servers/hostesses discussed weekend plans while ignoring me and the only other two customers in the place. I just walked out. Won t come back.

Great place to eat in the heart of Downtown Dartmouth. Quality on point, good service, tons of options to drink. The decor is nice. Good experience overall

The food is amazing! And so is the staff. They always have something on the go whether it be drink specials, live music or wing nights. It is a place that has something for everyone. You could go there for one beer, meet up with your girl friends or have a nice family supper there. Depends on what you are looking for.

This was my 2nd time here. The first was a weekday lunch time, the second was a Friday night. 1st time delish but food took awhile since no one else were there. Friday night was full (during covid) and the food was absolutely delicious. Service was amazing both times. Atmosphere great. Their covid protocols were awesome, I felt safe while feeling some normalcy. Recommend the burger, the Flatbreads and wings. Will make my way through menu.

Food is really good and drinks are a good price. Staff are very nice and the place is clean. Ive been twice and hope to keep visiting as a regular!

Very clean! Food was fantastic. And the waitress and chef were very friendly. Great place to eat!

Not as advertised. Menu description on the french toast is completely inaccurate. What was served was dry banana bread with a couple of spoonfuls of Nutella on top with fruit, no mint, no whipped cream, no filled brioche, not french toast. The service was incredibly slow, despite the place being almost empty. Food (specifically the smashed potatoes) was undercooked. Server was nice but not competent. Atmosphere was unpleasant. Overall bad experience.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Waitress was entertaining, funny and provided great service!
