Farm & Coast Market, in the heart of historic Padanaram Village, is a place where families, friends and neighbors can gather. We’re homey kitchen, family room, and clubhouse — all rolled into one.
This place is right down the street and if it was better organized and more consistent quality I would eat here all the time. Last time I went was the worst. Service is always bad here with disorganized girls gathered in a huddle or wandering around who may, or may not wait on you. No one seems to have an assignment and it is hit or miss if they come to your table. I ordered what I usually get, a Southwest Chicken salad. It came with 75% breading and 25% chicken. I tried to scrap off the breading digging for the chicken. Since I have ordered this a number of times before I knew this was not the norm, but maybe now they are cutting costs by filling you up with breading to pay for their new construction. When a girl came to the table, I informed her that it was not up to usual quality and there was very little chicken. She said she wished I said something earlier. I responded this was the first time she came back. I didn't want to make a big deal about it just letting them know something was wrong here. She left and then another girl came to the table. I again mentioned that the salad was not the usual quality. She said she knew, the other girl had told her. No other response. She took my payment and we left. Just can't see bothering to come back again at this point as it was such an uncomfortable experience and it gets tiring asking for silverware so often and having to get up and get it yourself anyways as no one brings it after you ask. My sons have gone and on more than one occasion have to order from the counter as well as they often never got waited on. Just too bad as they are expanding and I hope they get their act together. For the prices they charge, I would expect better quality and some service.
It's a great gem, I felt like I was in a Hallmark movie. The breakfast was great and very delicious. They have various options to choose from, not to mention their market that has a magnitude of options to pop in and go. From prepped meals to sweats, to various meats, this market has just about everything you're looking for. I love the vibe and feel in there. It's so chill, I can't wait to return, and I highly recommend it.
I stopped in and made a delivery and I also grabbed a cup of clam chowder and it is out of this world. One of the best chowder I had had in a very long time the bacon in there is so delicious the clams a great everything if you like clam chowder it's a must try the atmosphere is great the staff is great I think I found myself a new place I love it
This is kind of a trendy deli/market in a trendy, picturesque part of Dartmouth. Upon entering, I was initially confused if the sit down area was open-seating or if you had to wait to be seated. Turns out it’s open-seating. Signage making this clear would be helpful. I ordered the Italian sandwich and my guest ordered the hamburger sliders with cheese. My guest, a notoriously picky/critical diner, raved about how delicious the sliders were. My Italian sandwich was a rather unique take on what is normally a ho-hum standard. Although expensive, at $16, it was pretty huge. The focaccia bread was fluffy and soft. The meats were clearly of high quality and had a delicious, unique flavor. Big thumbs up. It also comes with a delicious hot pepper-relish spread, which sets off the sandwich. Service, while friendly, needs some work. After taking our order and bringing out our food, the server simply disappeared. I’m guessing her shift must’ve ended because another server finally noticed that we were done and finally brought us our check. Overall, our $28 meal was worth it, and I plan on returning to try more menu items.
Good fresh food. Easy for a quick lunch or to pick up sandwiches and drinks to go. Baked goods look better than they taste. Scones and cookies had good ingredients but lacked a flavor punch that would elevate them beyond ordinary.
Their coffee/espresso is consistently good. The space is often crowded and a little confusing to navigate. I find the to-go food options to be reliable (variety salads + sandwiches) but 16$ is too steep for a chef salad in my opinion—especially once they have sat there for a couple days; items like this should be discounted. With that said, their food is of high quality.
I come to Farm and Coast all the time as I live up the road and the customer service has declined rapidly over the last year..do not dare and sit down and dine or take your to go order prior to checking it as I’ve encountered many issues with incorrect orders. Today I came in with my dad who is here from out of town and his friend for lunch. I ordered a sandwich that they informed me they could not make 10 minutes later and then ordered a buffalo chicken calzone as a replacement..the calzone came out (20 minutes later) with NO cheese and was soggy. I got up to inform the waiter who was too busy talking to her colleges and had not come to check on us since we received the food..she seemed annoyed and responded “do you want another one or do you want it off the bill?” No apology at all..given I was starving I asked how long it would take for another one and she said “about 15 minutes.” I simply do not have another 15- 20 minutes as I have to get back to work…so it’s either be late to my meeting or starve.. such an off putting experience… I also informed the manager who did not care…try sail lot for a MUCH better experience!
Went here in a spur of the moment lunch date and absolutely fell in love. It’s a super cute market / eatery. The food was amazing and very thought out. The prices were awesome for the area. The service seems to be just right. I can’t wait to pop in and try out some other items.
Delicious, fresh food. Best prime rib I have ever had. A must see (and eat)!
Great local store and restaurant, lots of choices for takeout as well
Amazing scones, the ginger and strawberry were particularly great!!!
Want to love this place but just cant. Tried it four times. The first time we sat and were told we could not order for 30 minutes because the kitchen was behind. The second time, I went by myself and waited for 20 minutes at a table before I went to the counter to request someone wait on me - most of the meal was good, the toast could have broken a tooth. The third time, I ordered eggs with a side of hash. They brought the eggs and a hash bowl - very different than a side and is actually an entire meal. I told the server and rather than having them throw the whole thing away and making a new one, it seemed logical not to waste and to just eat the hash. They charged for the whole hash bowl meal and brought it to the servers attention - who was very sweet. A different person came back with attitude to advise that we dont usually change the item that was order - because I had eaten the hash but they did make an exception. The food was just ok. Anyway, there was a 4th try but this post is already too long.
Seems overstaffed yet service is always bad. Widely held opinion in the area. Managers need to get it together.
Can t say enough wonderful words about this place definitely going back..
We stopped here for lunch and the sandwiches and poke bowls were delicious. The staff was great and the service was fast!
Great service and great stuff.
Worst service in the area, will literally keep you waiting 45 min for a hot dog and a bag of chips. Table service takes 20 min for someone to even look in your direction and the owner is grouchy. I keep trying to give them another chance but it is always the same BS.
Food here is good, however the service here is absolutely terrible. I understand the cafe area is self seating, but the staff here really makes you feel under valued and completely ignore you. I would sit and wait for service for over 15-20 minutes with no one coming up to us to ask if we are ready to order. Again, great food, but if the staff cannot be attentive and simply ask for my order, there should not offer table service here.
You may say it s a little price but everything is fresh and top shelf.
Were from Texas and we love this place. Wicked breakfast sandwiches. Mind-blowing cod sandwich. Highly recommend!
Out for a bike ride. Stopped in for a coffee & ended up wrecking my diet. Breakfast of Lox & hummus. Excellent cookies. So good!
Amazing ice cream! We stopped here on the way back from checking out a local trail to see the daffodils as we were looking for ice cream and its still too early in season for most typical ice cream shops. Wow! We got a pint of fluffanuttah and coffee. Both flavors were amazing. The fluffanuttah is my new favorite! The coffee was amazingly rich and had coffee grinds in it. Soooo good. The label said homemade. We will definitely be back for pints. The one downside (because I like to be honest in my reviews) was the service. There were about 8 staff members behind the counters that just seemed annoyed at life. Not one person was smiling and it seemed like the customers were all just a bother to them. It was our first time so I was checking out everything and just sort of observing. Im sure they will continue to have a busy market despite the service but its sort of just unfortunate that they could easily take this place from good to amazing if they trained their staff better and if they didnt seem so annoyed. Hoping it was just because it was early on in the busier season.....maybe they are training new staff?? Trying to give the benefit....
Best sandwiches I have had, maybe ever... so beyond pleased with the product these guys put out.
Horrible selection pictures are definitely not what this place is wont be back
Such a cute deli and restaurant with local farm to table products. Dartmouth apparel such as hats!
Im sorry to say, last night was a terrible experience. I had been looking forward to coming back here for a while, and I was totally let down and disappointed. I went with my parents. We all ordered soups along with our meal. The soups were listed under starters, so we had no reason to think there was any special protocol about ordering starters/soups. We wait for 20 minutes after we order, nothing from our waitress. She then brings out our meals, no soups. I say, oh, were all set then with the soups, we dont want them She says oh well theyre ready I say but we ordered them to come as apps, before the meal. dont you always bring out soups and appetizers first? she says not unless you specify... and then walks away....... ummmm what? My clam chowder came out with a film over the top, it had clearly been microwaved. My father asked for something specific with his BLT, that was ignored. After we finish, I mention something to an employee nearby who seemed to be a manager or at least had more authority...I say, hey do you usually bring out soups and apps with the meal or before? She looks at me blankly and says it depends on when the kitchen has things ready? Um what? Before we left, I checked out the market and asked someone at the butcher counter something, he was rude and acted annoyed I was asking him about the meats. Really pathetic to have such a nice place with nice products, but then have no clue how to manage it or be hospitable. Joke.
Bustling local deli and eatery, specializing in cold cuts, cheeses, fresh salads, bakery items, coffee and homemade pizza. Can eat in or outside. The place is busy most of the time. Lots of specialty items and the wine selection quite extensive, especially French Roses. Prices are high for deli items and such, and not all of the dishes are that flavorful...but what can you say? Its Padanaram.
Amazing tasty fresh food. The breakfast here will blow your mind. Ive had so many different meals here and they are all flavorful. I have to mention the smoothies, the fresh produce is what really makes this restaurant stand out. Perfectly made lattes too!
Amazing service! Lovely people all around.
Farm and coast is my go-to. I live close by and stop there at least once a week. I recently started attending their wine tastings which are awesome. They have. A little bit of everything- Padanaram wouldn t be Padanaram without them.
Good selection, great service
Nice little market near the bridge and water. Their pastries and coffees drink are really good. Friendly staff.
Amazing selection of artisan goods
Want a gift card from a friend was told the food was fantastic. What a bummer everything was not as expected and my fried chicken was burnt burnt burnt
My review may be biased since i worked there and didnt leave on the best terms (they fired me with no notice or reason at the end of my shift one day) but my honest review is they have some very talented people working in the kitchen, the meat department has some amazing quality product, and if Im ever looking for something good and local Ill stop by. Great in house made sausages and cured meats, though I would ask where the origin is, as some things (roast beef) to my knowledge are just ordered from sysco. Also, try the prepared foods, most of that stuff is on point. The bakery case is lacking in quality, especially for the price of the product, personally not a fan. Theres 100 other places in the Dartmouth/New Bedford area to get really good, quality baked goods, for a much better price. Baguettes are $6 and sourdough is $10!!! The beer and wine section is pretty good, some cheap and some outrageously expensive options. When I was there, the front of house staff was completely untrained, most young girls that dont know much about anything, and are definitely not qualified or capable of using their La Marzocco machine to pull a decent shot of espresso. Working in the kitchen and seeing how much food went in the trash was extremely disheartening, yes a good portion of it was composted or fed to pigs, but some days I wouldsew a full day of hard work just tossed into the trash, and it was pretty soul crushing. Ill be fair and state I havent been in in quite a while, so things may have changed, but as the owners have not, it was a terrible place to work. Overall my review is, its a good fit for the affluent neighborhood of Padanaram, but the average Joe shouldnt waste his time. Its expensive, and a little too pompous for my liking.
Nice location and esthetically appealing. A bit pricey but what isnt these days? Also expected being located in Padanaram.
Delightful little market and cafe. Prices on the high side ($$), but you cant beat the atmosphere of a European grocery.
Great sandwiches!!!
Butcher is the best on the BLOCK!
Very expensive for Costco quality foods.
Amazing pizza!
Usually I enjoy breakfast here but lately the service s downhill. Customers sitting at a table are just an inconvenience to the staff. Hope there s a better manager coming on board.
Always Satisfied Can t say enough about how much I like F&C Will come back again and again.
Nice place with quality products. However, every time I go I have a bad experience. From having all of my friends ordering breakfast and being cut off because it was one minute past the breakfast hours, to ordering a matcha which tasted more like sugar than anything else I can t say I ve had the best experiences there.
Great healthy food options!! Good vibe, friendly service!
Good place for casual dining
Busy boutique grocery with eatery and coffee bar. We got lunch to-go and enjoyed Ruben and Italian sandwiches. Would love to go back for table service. Staff hustles and provides quick, friendly and efficient service.
Good pizza, tad expensive.
Absolutely awful experience, I placed an order to go and waited 40 minutes checking in with them about every 10 minutes. After 40 minutes one of the workers told me they ran out of bread for a steak sub and ask if substituting with sourdough was ok. Its not, it was gross, but I accepted because I was so hungry. 10 minutes later we decided that we needed to cancel the order so I went in and asked to cancel it, and they brought out the bag that had all four sandwiches. The other food was good according to others, but the steak and cheese on sourdough was not great. I could understand if there was a lot going on but the place was empty and I watched people who ordered after me get their food and eat it. I don t understand how this place has more employees than customers and still take 50 minutes to figure out a 4 sandwich order.
Great place
Friendly staff, delicious blueberry muffin
Great location, but much better for catering or eating there than a quick grocery stop
Lovely community hub with sit down food, pastries, desserts, bread, meals to go and other pantry essentials! The location is beautiful and the atmosphere is great. It s a nice place to go for a meal or run to grab bread/milk or something to go.
After a visit at UMass-Dartmouth, we went to explore Padanaram in South Dartmouth and came here for a bite to eat. The food and service were good as we tried to decide whether the Farm & Coast Market is a restaurant, store, bakery? Its all that and more...
Farm and coast did such a lovely job on my special order birthday cake for my sister. What you cant see in the photo is how wonderful it tasted. Beautiful
Quaint shop with some delicious fresh pasta and pesto occasionally. Is a little pricey, but feels appropriate figuring it s in padanaram. Restaurant staff are a bit aloof and unwelcoming. Lunch is good.
Cannot say enough good things about Farm & Coast. Quality & service is above and beyond. We shop here often and are always satisfied. We recently had a problem with the wrong ingredients on food that we ordered and they were very kind, offered to refund & personally deliver the correct ones. 5 stars
Yummmmy smoothie, great little shop
Love this place. Mimi and Jody are awesome!
Absolutely poor management. Whoever runs management needs to learn how to run an establishment because they were very bland when I came in and were in a rush to get me out. I feel bad for the employees. I will be spreading this as you guys need to get your act together!
The best biscuits
Wonderful little spot for breakfast or lunch. Guarantee youll find what youre looking for. Little bit of everything.
Great place to eat
Great service, great food.
Very good and pleasant experience. I really enjoyed the coffee and chocolate mousse. This place has some real good salads, fresh meat and aged wines. Must visit if you are planning to visit Padnaram, Dartmouth region. Looking forward to yet another visit.
Generous portions, the most delightful mocha latte imaginable and the sweetest staff.
I had the most disappointing experience at this store yesterday. After ordering, they said they would bring my food to the patio. When the food was ready they came outside and said extremely rudely we don t serve out there . The quality of the food is good but the service is horrible, I wouldn t recommend it.
Excellent service! Excellent breakfast! And very yummy pastries! For a farm-to-table, it is VERY reasonably priced. Also dog friendly, and very kind staff! You will not be disappointed!
Nice farm friendly gem in the middle of Padnaram Village. Great for picking up a sandwich, snacks and drinks on the way to the beach or destination.
A bit snooty and pretty pricey but the quality of the food makes up for it.
I love their pizza, its a corn meal crust.
Was in town for a few days on our sailboat at NBYC. I picked up some of the pre-made meals and they were absolutely delicious! It was a lifesaver considering we were on foot and theres no grocery store within walking distance. Great value and super convenient
Pretty expensive, but not bad otherwise.
The food in here is always top notch. Although the young girls who work the coffee counter dont always have the most pleasant attitude, I always enjoy my visit. My most recent purchase included what they called a chider that was the best holiday beverage I have ever had in my life!!!!!
The breakfasts are good. The butcher seems reasonable. Nice vibe. Some products are expensive, others not; the food (pizzas, sandwiches) is good and quite reasonable.
Went there around 10 am Ordered 2 egg sandwich s The place was so crowded. No social distancing, half the people were without masks. Seems like they take them off when they walk through the door.Getting back to the sandwich decided to get them to go just to get out of there. Could have done better at McDonald s Cold a overdone With coffee which was also cold cost me $27.00 Will never go there again
Wow! Great place!
Pricey, but not for a boutique butcher shop. Take out food is exceptional. Service is spoty. Usually good other than lunch time. Worse in the summer. Probably due to numerous vacationers. Overall nice spot
The food here is incredible. Every time it s very fresh and delicious. The market is great too if you re looking for a solid assortment of fine wines and local goodies.
I have been shopping here ...several times per week. Love the staff, love the butcher shop. My only complaint is that of the owner(I think)....she is very abrasive and a little curt. I am sure she is super busy but her people skills need improving or she should just stay in the back room.
Great deal of thought and talent goes into each product and display. We had a delicious breakfast there and the waitstaff was very pleasant
Wow! Check it out!
A must stop for me.
This place used to be very good, but it has slipped badly in the past few months. - Breakfast was poorly cooked 2 out of the past 3 breakfasts. It was so bad, for example, that I sent an omelette back. - Service is terrible Pastries are often damaged by jamming them into one undersized box. What would a second or larger box cost? The place is short-staffed, and the existing staff is poorly trained. I used to be happy to pay a premium price when excellent food and service were offered. Now, not so much.
Excellent produce, groceries, prepared foods, beer/wine, meat & more.
Great market! Super service! The butcher shop and deli are also wonderful! I wish I enjoyed the restaurant menu more but I cant say I have had anything outstanding.
Cute, small, and lively. I go a few times a month for their matcha latte!
Delicious sandwich!! Loved the kale&Brussels slaw
Food is good but service is awful. Good luck getting staff to notice you. When you confirm they know youre seated, youre told theyll be with you shortly. I waited 20 minutes with no menu, offering of drink, nothing. So I left and gave my business to someone else. I dont even blame the staff, management should train better and have dedicated wait staff on during rush periods. It seems they are always scrambling to fulfill multiple roles.
The food is fresh and delicious. Everything our party ordered was perfect.
Stopped here in the early afternoon while on an all-day cycle for a fuel up. The wait staff was some of the best I have ever had - polite, helpful, attentive, and just really kind and friendly! One of the servers helped me find the best vegetarian options (I did the 3 cold salad forage plate and all of the salads from the counter inside were absolutely delicious), sized up my drink on the house since she couldnt remember what I had ordered, and filled up my water bottles for free on my way out. Great place to stop on a bike because I could sit outdoors and not feel like I was bothering the other diners with my sweat/sunscreen. Great experience, I will be back for sure!
We are genuinely satisfied with your food and service but find the fact that you don t recycle appalling and very off brand. I think it is your responsibility to set an example to the community you make money from. We (my family and I) are asking you to please do better!
Great experience, friendly staff and great customer service!
Nice place. Good food
Usually love this place but the service is terrible. So slow. Waited 30 minutes just for a smoothie that I had to ask for 5 times before it was being made. There were many workers just standing there laughing and talking instead of working. Very disappointing.
Decent spot a little pricey but you pay for quality. I dont think i could ever pay for their beef though way way to over priced I get prime and dont pay what they charge but other than that food they make is decent.
So cute and has a little bit of everything. Loved my latte and lemon marscapone cake. Small market, wine and beer, deli, butcher and Cafe with sweets, coffee, smoothies and pizza. super cute and cozy environment.
Perfect local market with everything you could ever need. Great place to grab a sandwich and a bottle of wine or sit and have a relaxing delicious lunch. Attentive staff at this market, butcher shop, bakery and sandwich shop.
Nice little deli and market. However dinner wasnt that great. Burgers were just ok and fries were burnt.
Nice ambiance, enjoyed eating by the water. The food was quite good. Lots of tables in need of bussing outside. Brought my two small children. They only have two high chairs in the restaurant, so had my daughter seated in my lap for the majority of lunch. Seems the reputation of trouble keeping staff is true. The servers areoverwhelmed. You must come prepared to spend time waiting because you will need it. Also saw our server taking the trash out across the parking lot, which probably should never happen.
They tried to charge me 31$ for a single ribeye steak.. and it was 50% fat chunks.. and small
Fantastic spot for local cuisine!
Great market
I always enjoy food and service here. I also love there frech toast
Great food and coffee but order ahead. It is kind of pandemonium in there on a nice weekend at lunch. Also, no patrons wear masks.
Great food! Very well organized! Wonderful desserts. Street parking can be difficult! Eat in or take out! Nice village with shops.
Surprising find in the little village of Padanaram of South Dartmouth. Really good selections in a very nice setting.
Such a cool little gem. A variety of prepared foods to pick from
A real destination anytime of year. Tucked on a quiet street right by the harbor, this little gem of a market is was more than youd expect. Fabulous foods, baked goods, meats, cheeses and wines are beautifully displayed and available to eat-in or take out. I cant wait to cook up my in house butchered cheddar burgers!
Yummy food. Not enough space to eat on the weekend. When someone opens either of the doors, the whole place gets cold. 4 stars for great food. It would be wonderful if they could expand their space.
Nice atmosphere, great place to grab coffee
This is like a home away from home for my family and I!! Mostly me !! Love having a Butcher to get fresh meat. Love seeing the staff! Love the homemade soups homemade pasta, Fresh Breads and the girls love the ice cream selections! We live so close so it is very convenient! Oh and the wine!! Must stop in for a visit if you are visiting the South Coast! Special Thanks to Naomi, Mimi, Jodi, and Gary!
The quality of the food is great but a bit pricey.
Excellent!
Thank you from the ICU staff @ St Lukes Hospital. It is very much appreciated!!
This a great stop in a great area. May they live long and prosper. Good local flavors and selection.
Amazing service! Great food
Guys - I m not sure what s going, if you have switched kitchen help, but since getting back from being closed the sandwiches are not as good as before. We ve take order for the beach; ordered the BLAT it came without Avocado, we ordered salads which came with utensils. On another occasion sandwiches didn t have all ingredients as advertised. Note: Prior to COVID19 we never had any issues with the food, it was great. I hope you can take a look at this. Thanks
I like the Farm and Coast. Food is good They now serve pizza. I ordered the VIP Veggie which comes with mushrooms spinach garlic oil ricotta and Parmesan cheese sounded great however I found the pizza was overcooked which made the toppings a little dry and the crust too hard. They may have been too busy and the pizza was left in the oven too long So I ll give the pizza another try Hopefully it ll be better
Good coffee and food. They have pastries from Seven Star Bakery which is really good bakery in Providence. Inside of the café there is a small market section too for basic groceries. Prices are a bit higher but products are good quality. There is outdoor seating outside by the café, but there is also seating across the road in a parking lot with addition window serving drinks/simple foods.
Great atmosphere
Very good. Service is excellent as is the food. They have limited out door seating perfect for the times
Enjoyed fresh coffee and pastries to wake us up in the afternoon after a long walk on the beach. Wasnt really busy however a little unorganized. The staff gave us one coffee when we ordered three, and you pay first? Once we got things straightened out we enjoyed it thank you!!
Friendly, energetic staff, delicious food and drinks, outdoor seating and taking COVID precautions
Went here for breakfast and food and service were ok but not good. Limited breakfast menu. Good coffee.
Friendly staff and good food
Pricey, but to be expected when you are the only food place open in the Village now that the season is over. Weve had several enjoyable meals there, however, which makes it worth it.
Nice wine selection
This local shop is amazing!! The food is fabulous and the staff are so welcoming and pleasant.
Place is beautiful .. got breakfast hash with multi toast $13 way over priced.. meat shop staff friendly but breakfast staff not so friendly .. nothing like a good morning what can I get u ???
Went here for breakfast and the food was delicious! Pancakes are more like crepe-cakes but theyre still great. Food is fresh and the staff is amazing. All of them are willing to go above and beyond to make your order just the way you like it
Excellent
Quality.
Such a quaint location besides the ocean with a unique market-restaurant hybrid set up. The staff were so friendly and the caprese sandwich was unforgettably tasty.
Great spot for farm fresh items.
I definitely have to return. Food was fresh. Plenty of options.
Never before had a dining experience with so many order-related issues. Asked for American cheese on eggs - got cheddar, asked for no runny egg on my sandwich - both the yolk and egg whites were very runny, asked for plain potatoes - got old bay potatoes, ordered cheese eggs for each of my daughters - their eggs came together on one plate because thats how they usually do it, also, the water had small black things floating in it and the cups for the kids (ages 2 and 5) were made of glass which is not ideal. Probably better off finding any different place or just eating at home.
Great delicious fresh food, and a great grocery selection. A little pricey though, but good quality.
An upscale market with a casual eating area.
Overpriced and WASPy.
Fantastic eating place has a market great choice
Great food and people.
Cool venue located in the heart of charming Padanarum. Unfortunately, the price of the breakfast was greater than the quality/quantity of the food and service. Our omelettes were small and dry, with a smattering of forgettable home fries thrown in. The bread used for toast was quite good, as was the coffee (the latter of which was never refilled). Service was slow and curiously abrubt. The market offerings are well presented but, like the cafe, overpriced.
Horrendous food and insulting service
