I can not stress enough how much I love this place. The people are absolutely truly AMAZING and the food, well, I am spoiled, I can t and won t eat seafood anywhere else. I live about 2 hours away and will drive the two hours just for the food and the amazing service. These guys go above and beyond for their customers. Keep up the great work!!

We always try to support local when we can . We have been living here for almost 4 years now and this place was always on our radar to try . Well we have tried on several occasions now to go and try this place out and it was always a 45 minute wait to get in . Yesterday I tried calling all day to make a reservation for dinner and these people don t even answer their phones , maybe because my number is not a local number and they thought it was spam ? Anyways we decided to take our chances and just go to see if we could get in . 7pm on Saturday night , sign inside the doors reads take out only . Hmmm ok interesting because there were empty tables and people sitting having their meal . Buddy at the front door was ignorant and said yeah after 7 it s take out only . I replied to him with that s interesting but we did not know that as you guys don t answer your phone . So I think he maybe felt bad , and said you could take that empty booth there and just pointed . (There were more than one empty booth) . We sat and noticed the table had not even been cleaned or sanitized after the last people to sit there. We waited for a waitress to bring menus and it was taking awhile so we used the menu on our phones to decide what we wanted to order . When the waitress came to take our order I pointed out that the table needed to be cleaned . She proceeded to take one of the napkins on the table and give it a quick wipe . Unacceptable in my books considering you still have social distancing signage up on the tables as well as plexiglass between the booths to keep the patrons safe . Food orders were taken and brought out quickly , and was hot and tasty . (Now I know why this place is popular , the food is where it s at , not the service or the people) When the food was brought out we still had to wait to have condiments brought to the table for the fish and fries . (Any longer and the food would have been cold) . Not once did anyone come and ask how it tasted or if we needed anything else . Hubby finished his meal ahead of me , and the waitress decided that instead of having him pass her the dishes he was done with that she would just reach over me to grab them herself . This is very rude and unacceptable to do while someone is still eating their meal . They have a lot to learn about customer service and respect and manners for their patrons . I wonder how these people are still open for business after a first and probably last experience there . My guess is that they are only still open for business because the food is good . It s definitely not for the customer service that s for sure

Excellent food as always. My husband and I shared the clam/haddock tips combo and there was enough for 3 people! Highly recommend. On our visit last week, we decided to share a bowl of chowder....our server split it into two good sized bowls. It was full of fish, scallops and shrimp and so filling! You wont regret ordering it.

Great food. Fast service. I ordered a seafood platter. No clams available. Which is fine. Was not aware that I had a choice between one piece of fish or haddock tips. Haddock tips being a bit more food. I got scallops. Shrimp and one piece of fish. This time I only got very few fries. Compared to most either time recieveing many fries. So all in all there wasnt much food on the plate. My fault for not asking about haddock tips. I just didnt know it was an option. I feel the server maybe should have mentioned the options. But whatever. I split the meal with a friend. We werent full as per usual when splitting this meal. I mentioned my disappointment. And was compensated with some haddock tips to take home. Which wasnt necessary as it may have been my fault for not knowing or asking for more fries and or haddock tips. I just thought Id have to pay for more food which I didnt want to do. But I really appreciate the effort to make it right. Meant alot that they care enough to listen and fix the issue. Again. Not necessary but appreciated! I dont recommend getting a seafood platter when clams are not available. Although everything else was amazing. If you dont get what you want. Mention it. They will fix it. Great people. Great establishment! Will always return. One disappointing visit wont stop me from showing up or recommending this place. Love the food. They also have the best club house available in the city. We happened upon Woodside Diner by accident. Our first visit. We were met at the door by one of the owners. A really nice treat actually. We ordered ample meals: 2-piece Haddock & fries as well a Hot Turkey Sandwich meal. Both were really delicious . The service was personable and quick. Our server, Jennifer, had a professional and very friendly manner. We had the chance to chat with owner on the way out. We will definitely be back when were in the neighborhood Parking: Level lot in good condition. Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance was from a wide sidewalk which was in excellent condition on a level parking lot. The interior had plenty of room between tables.

Took my son on a date to the diner and we had the most excellent time! The food is second to none in the city for home cooked comfort food. And the seafood is just perfection! The staff are ridiculously friendly and kind. Watching the kitchen boys was amazing. Seeing them all in action was like a finely tuned machine. Keep up the great work! The little guy says 5 stars!!

First time visiting Pleasant Street Diner and I gotta say this is some of the best food you can get in the Halifax/Dartmouth area. The portions are huge and the service is amazing. All our food arrived quickly and hit. The portions are ridiculously huge, tons of fish and fries, and a nice heaping scoop of coleslaw. The fish chowder was packed with seafood and was so delicious. The coconut cream pie was also top notch, one of the best slices Ive had in a while. Got clams scallops and chips the portions are small compared to two years ago. Clams were undercooked and soggy. But fries were good. This was take out.

Visiting Nova Scotia atm from British Columbia, and was told by multiple family members that this was THE place to go for seafood in Nova Scotia. Well, they were not kidding! Best seafood platter I have ever had. The portions are huge, cooked to perfection, those clams were something else The whole meal was amazing. Had to visit more than once a restaurant you do not want to miss out on when visiting Nova Scotia.

We were on an adventure with our grandkids and my sister today to Eastern Passage. My sister mentioned that your place was a good spot to have lunch. It was a bit crowded but that is usually an indication that it a good place to eat. We had haddock tips,club house,hot hamburger,and fish and chips. The portions were HUGE and so tasty! Our server was Nicky. The service was fast and friendly and we didn t feel rushed. Hats off to Nicky for her friendliness even though she was very busy. The serving were so large we took some home. Good value for the money. Even though we live in Fairview I m sure we will be back. Worth the cruise over.

Tonight I must give a big shout-out to this great diner! My husband and I decided to splurge for our 50th wedding anniversary and I happened to mention this when I called to order a seafood platter and 2-piece fish and chips. Well, when my husband went to pick up the order, he was surprised to find out that two rice puddings had been included free of charge, for our anniversary! Wow! We were so touched. But it didn t end there When he got home and we opened our special dinner, we realized that the diner had also added an extra piece of haddock! Can you imagine! They were just so kind_not to mention that the food was fantastic as always. Dartmouth is definitely blessed to have this place!

It is absolutely worth the drive, even all the way from Peggys Cove Road... Yes! I will travel all the way into Dartmouth to get the best tasting, freshest and most incredible whole fried clams, fish n chips, scallops, coleslaw, I could go on and on about the seafood. Totally worth the drive and the visit!! You wont regret it - Ive been to Pleasant Street Diner and the former Johns Lunch literally hundreds of times over the years and the quality has never wavered! I dearly miss Fotis, he had a way of making us feel welcomed and blessed at the same time.

They were fairly busy when we got there. But got a table in 10-15 minutes. They have a pretty large menu and desserts. When we ordered out food it came REALLY fast. And it was SO GOOD. I got a clubhouse sandwich and fries it was delicious. Definitely would go again. Kid-friendliness: There were several groups with kids when we were there. And they have high chairs and are kid friendly.

I ve been to this restaurant many times in the past and it s always delicious! I stopped in today, during a work break and ordered the clams for takeout. The process was easy, I called from the parking lot and within 5 minutes my order was ready. Staff were very friendly and helpful. My clams were hot and delicious! The portions are big and I always have some food left over for later. Seriously, this is my favourite place to get clams from.

The best clams and chips in Nova Scotia and one of the best Fish and Chip resturants around. when they give you clams and chips they put the clams down first and fries on top, you get so many clams that i personally (and i can eat well) have a hard time finishing them all. The food never disappoints, if your visiting Nova Scotia for the first time or looking for a Fish and Chip place to try, you will not find better than here, IMO they are the best.

Still the best fish and chips in Halifax. Need some acoustic tiles in the ceiling to drop the noise levels a bit Food : 5/5

Tell place is like home, talk to many people I havent seen in years

Got takeout from there this evening, the first time in several years we have eaten there. I have to say I was dissapointed. We have gone to the diner as our go to place for fish and chips since they first opened and found the fish excellent and the fries acceptable. ( dont let the reviewers fool you the fries are frozen not cut in the restaurant. This time I noticed that all three pieces of fish we ordered were almost identical in size and seemed to be a combination of some filet and some minced fish. The quality and freshness of the fish was well below normal quality have come to expect from this restaurant. This was certainly not helped by the batter which was too thick, crunchy and overcooked, nor the fries which were undercooked and soggy, and cold slaw which was dry and tasteless. We will probably return hoping this is a one off experience but should our next visit not show vast improvement we will surely be looking for another location for our fish and chips.

First off I was so sorry to hear about the passing of the older gentleman who ran the restaurant a few months ago. I actually remember him coming to our booth once while I was there with my family. He and my father ended up chatting about traveling overseas. By the end of the conversation he brought a piece of pie over for my stepmom. Truly seemed like a kind-hearted social person. My sincere sympathies to his family and loved ones. This is a wonderful establishment. Have been going there for years with family members (some of which can be very picky/particular and have had no complaints after several visits which is a rarity and that speaks to how good they actually are). Also always feel comfortable bringing people to for the first time. They can be busy during peak times for sure but thats what happens when you have good food and great service. There is a good variety of choices for everyone and the portions are quite generous which is surprising given how reasonably priced everything seems. I particularly enjoy their calamari Greek salad. Made the way I like with big chunks of everything and always so much calamari I can never finish it in one sitting. The place is always clean and actually noticed staff doing extra when things are slow which is always nice to see. They are also always personable and friendly and try to be as accommodating as possible. Have also done pick-up there several times and the wait is never unreasonable. Floor plan is set up so that even with mobility issues would not be hard to navigate. Theres a large free parking lot outside the restaurant with designated spots which is always nice. I am pretty sure I will still be going to this restaurant for many years to come. Tommy was very friendly and even remembered my father and I after we hadnt been by in at least a year! The food came out quick was tasty and amazing! I had fish and chips (comes with coleslaw) only issue is that the coleslaw was a lil dry for my taste but other than that the fish was juicy and tasty, the chips were amazing and pair nicely with the gravy! Our server Chris was very kind and gave amazing service! Will 100% be coming back in the near future! Parking: Its right next to the restaurant and its pretty good. Kid-friendliness: They treat the kids with kindness. Wheelchair accessibility: From the lot straight to the restaurant it is easy for someone in a wheelchair to get in.

Im kind of back and forth on this one. Their burgers used to be really good but now they are smaller and I was given lukewarm fries. Wont be buying this anymore. I was there recently and I thought their Haddock Tips were really good to me. My wife said no Johns Lunch makes better tasting ones to her. I cant tell the difference they both taste really good to me. :)

This is my favourite restaurant to get my seafood platter fix on. Make sure to get the clams if they re in season. Old school diner with simple homemade food. We got a seafood platter with an extra fish to share and a hearty seafood chowder. Although we had to wait around 15 minutes for a table on a lunchtime weekend, it was worth it for the delicious seafood. The coating on the deep fried seafood has a little bit of sweetness which differentiates it from other places. Would highly recommend a visit.

Our family ordered the haddock burger, the hot turkey sandwich, the deluxe cheese burger, and the calamari Greek salad. It was all homemade, fresh, and delicious. When our waiter asked if he could get us anything more, I said the only thing more we need is a larger table because the portions of food are very generous! A fantastic neighbourhood diner run by a family with friendly and helpful staff. Great fish and chips and my wife enjoyed her fish burger.

Great home made food. Family environment, went for a Bday party with lots of ppl they were more than happy to accommodate all of us with a smile even tho they were abuse! I definitely recommend the clubhouse!!

Great place! Never have we been disappointed. I wish I had taken a photo of my vegetarian club. My partner had the mushroom Swiss burger and both of us were too busy enjoying. Homestyle meals that will leave you full. This family restaurant is a gem. Next time photos I promise. Not our first visit nor our last. Vegetarian options: They will accommodate you.

Incredible service like always seafood was incredibly fresh and had my comfort food of french fries, coleslaw and gravy our all-time favorite restaurant.

We have been here many times and never let down. The food is awesome. Tastes great and huge portion size. Prices are fair and the staff is super efficient.

Best place for fish in Dartmouth!

As a newcomer to the area I am so pleased that I was told about this diner. Have tried several meals from the menu although my favourite is the fish and chips. I like to sit in the corner booth to take in the atmosphere and watch people enjoying their food Chris the server is a real character and so welcoming that he makes you smile.

good snoked meet , salad a little bland but crunchy

Good food, good prices and super quick service. I had been wanting to go here for a while based off the ratings and reviews and went on a little outing with my mom and thought of this place immediately because we were in the area. I will definitely be back. Thank you.
