Sadly, this is the last time I will ever eat here. After decades of great, affordable food, this was so bad I'm just hoping I don't end up with unfortunate gastro results. No masks, no gloves, no handwashing, and the restaurant hasn't been cleaned in far too long. The fries were so overcooked they were dry as sawdust and the gravy couldn't save them. The fish was extremely dark brown and crunchy, and reeked of rancid oil, leading me to wonder just how long it's been since the fryer oil was changed, or if the fryers have EVER been cleaned. And I've never seen tartar sauce that was so yellow it looked like armpit stains - it certainly shouldn't have smelled as bad as it did, either. So now I'm sitting here with less money and I've already binned the takeout container because I couldn't eat it, so I'm also starving. Great day.
Been going downhill for awhile now. I've been supporting this place for decades but no longer can. Disgusting clubhouse and fries today. 75% of the fries were old ones that had been fried numerous times. My friend saw him add the few fresh fries on top of the old ones but didn't get my attention and I had already paid. Rather than cause a scene with the old guy,I've decided instead to take my decades of business elsewhere. Many of my coworkers stopped going long ago and I'll be joining them
Just ordered a steak wrap and fries. Received a disgusting grease soaked mess with barely any meat and all the veggies I said not to put on. This was my first and last experience at this place. I threw the mess in the garbage.
This place is perfect for those wanting a no fuss type of setting. If you need fancy, keep driving. Down to earth folks, this is your place! Fish cakes were made fresh and were very tasty. This place is set up cafeteria style making service fast. They are open for breakfast at 6 am and lunch and offer a liquor license for those wanting a beverage with lunch.
Food was impeccable and delicious. I lift my hat to the gentleman who served us, he was the kindest, quick on his feets to serve us and provided exceptional service. I will be returning here in the near future as i come from far away.
For a restaurant run solely by one man who cooks, serves, busses...does it all...this is great! No Frills cafeteria style diner. He's friendly, prices are below average and food is great. First time here, had Combo #1 BF. So glad I went 10 min. in the opposite direction just to come here this morning. Well worth it.
Stopped in to treat myself to breakfast and was blown away by the service and food. Cheap, good food, with friendly staff and a sort of cafeteria atmosphere (in a good way!) Definitely a place to stop and grab some grub.
My partners and I have been coming here on and off and have consistently been delighted at both the quality of the food as well as the quantities. Prices are lower than you'd expect, and the staff here are attentive and friendly to boot! It's right in the middle of Burnside and opens early, so it's perfect for pre-work breakfasts or a solid lunch later in the day.

It looks like the run of the mill greasy spoon but damn, that breakfast combo with eggs, bacon, sausage, the best hashbrowns and toast was under 11 bucks with free coffee or tea. Make sure you go and order from the cafeteria looking counter rather than sit down and wait. They bring out to you in under two minutes. Literally, just sat down with my tea and the food was in front of me. They come around to top up coffee and tea often. And the bacon was perfectly crispy. Such a hidden gem! 10/10
i ordered on skip the dishes, and i got scallops and fries, ceasar salad and 2 pc chicken.... everything was good accept the chicken it was like really hard and it didnt taste fresh it tasted like it had been sitting for awhile or they rushed it, i was hard and a bit cold, but it delivered fast and the price was good other then that the rest of the food was good, would i order from there again i dont think so!
I ordered the jumbo hot dog. It was a regular hotdog and very dried up and hard it was definitely a few days old, the taters were soggy. I wont be going back nor will I recommend them!!
I normally don t give reviews but this one I have to. I ordered the big breakfast and a cheeseburger. The cheese burger is half burned and total waste. The eggs were not properly fried. Totally I want to give 0 rating.

I have no complaints, good food, good service and good price. Dont expect fancy table cloths from this little place but you will not be disappointed from this working mans dinner.

A great place to go if youre looking for a quick breakfast in the morning. $10 for a Hungry Man breakfast is a pretty damn good deal plus your coffee and if you decide to have an early beer which is also a good price but I dont recommend it just for driving aspects of things just saying. People need to watch what they drink. But overall its a great place
I really love the breakfast, the price is fantastic and the owner is an awesome guy. But he needs to clean up his restaurant. The chairs are filthy, grout lines in the floor are full of grease, and fruit flys hovering around forks and knives and gabage can. I do recommend and come often but i think he needs to take a weekend and deep clean the restaurant!

Ordered the large breakfast, and a hot dog. Never again. The eggs were not scrambled, simply chopped up on the grill. The hot dog was a burnt mess. Baloney was horrible and the home fries were overcooked and hard as rocks. I will not order from this place again!
Floors so greasy, you could my work boots didnt even have traction. Ordered a double cheese burger with bacon there was ni bacon and frys where so hard. Very disappointed
Stumbled upon this little restaurant while on lunch break today. If you havent tried Smokeys yet, you owe it to yourself to eat here, you wont be disappointed.

I would give .5 star if I could. I ordered via skip the dishes as it was newly added and wanted to give smokeys a try. They have an affordable and simple menu. I ordered the chicken on kaiser with fries. My high rating goes directly to the fries as they were okay. For the chicken on kaiser well... I was a bit shocked to say the least. It turns out their idea of a kaiser is just a sesame bun. I was also disturbed by the quality of the produce. Lettuce was wilted and brown! The tomato may have been an alternative ketchup is was so mushy. The chicken was absolutely dry.. Totally inedible meal. Please skip this dish.

First and last time will ever go to this sp called restaurant. 2 pieces of fish that were about the size of a townie and BURNT to a crisp. The cheeseburger was red inside. Both pouitines were half raw friends and put them in the microwave to melt. When I explained the food was disgusting he offered us 10$ back on a 30$ meal. My 10yr old can cook better then this old guy! Save ur money people!!
Order our food on door dash and when we picked it up they rudely told us how we cost them 30% for not calling. As for the food it self the fish was way over cooked plus one had a clam strip cooked into the batter. Along with that it was swimming in grease and could tell they dont clean there oil very much.

A great place to go for an inexpensive breakfast. Looks a little different as they have prepared the restaurant for Covid. Not the place for a romantic date. Very attentive.I suspect lunch would be a good choice as well. It looks like they have great daily specials for $10. Friday is $11.

Service was really good. Not pushy, nicely to the point, quick wait times for food and table service. Poutine was excellent. I appreciate how they dont skimp on ingredients- the poutine had a good amount of gravy and cheese. Chicken caesar wrap was a miss for me, there was minimal sauce, the croutons were very hard and I kept encountering hard bits in the chicken which were either unfortunate croutons or bits of bone. The area was nice to sit in, not too fancy and not too ghetto. The artwork on the walls was neat, the signed Guy LeFluer framed poster and the Beatles image were my favorites. Overall, a good experience. I would go again.
Used to go here for the hungry man breakfast almost everyday with a few co-workers. This place is an example of Dont judge a book by its cover.

I hardy ever leave bad reviews, for this one, I have to. The fresh grilled haddock must have been undercooked from frozen without fully thawing. Inside was rubbery and hearty and outside was overcooked and badly seasoned and breaded. I was extremely disappointed as I heard good things about this place before I went for lunch. General ambiance, cleanliness, paying with debit arrangement, everything was off with this place. Maybe I was cranky?! Overall, I didnt enjoy the meal and didnt finish it as I was scared to have food poisoning. I have so much more to say but Im holding back. Dont think Ill be back ever again.

Nice cozy family run restaurant. The veggie omelette was just perfect. Found Charles and his people very courteous. Will definitely visit again!

Food is always excellent and the service is even better! Not fancy, but that doesnt matter!!
The staff was pleasant but I was not happy with the food. The grilled cheese was with processed cheese and the tomato and rice soup looked more like beef and barley and had too much salt in it to try to cover up the burnt taste.

Nice people, good service but, unfortunately, not great food. Had fish cakes and beans. Due to the lunch time rush, and only two ladies cooking, my fish cakes were undercooked, and also probably a lot more potato than fish ratio. And the beans were canned beans and molasses, not even homemade. The only upside is it only cost $8, otherwise I would have been way more disappointed. My friends battered fish was way over deep fried, super dark brown and could hardly cut through with a knife. Probably will not return.

Smokeys is a family-owned and run restaurant that always has the highest quality in mind. Their burgers are fantastic, and made-to-order. Good portion sizes, and dont charge for substitutions. Available on SkiptheDishes, as well as phone-in orders. Open super early in the morning for Breakfast, and will remember you when you come in.
I go here everytime Im in the area. Its a large menu, fast service and the food is spectacular! Best gravy around!

Sat here reading reviews on nearby restaurants. I am so glad we decided to ignore the one bad review because it was an awesome place to eat! The only thing missing for this traditional fishermans daughter was lemon juice and tartar sauce! Still an excellent meal and great service.
Great food from one of the oldest established diners in Burnside. They have an incredible fried chicken that rivals anything on the market. Decent prices.

If I could give a 0rating to make a comment I would but I cant. I got a nuked hotdog and expired pop. With a side of foodpoisoning. Not only did he nuke the hotdog in a grimy dish of water in a grimy microwave, but the entire counter was nasty and sticky. There was gunk stuck in the straws box. Dirty paper napkins, just fu**ing juck!! One bite of hotdog and one sip stale drink and I was barfing. Worst place Ive ever been in. Not worth it
