This was first time I visited one of these restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We had chicken and ribs. The meat was tender and delicious.

Dartmouth Crossing location - packed, lots of kids, very noisy, but also a Friday night. Not a good idea if youre looking for a nice, quiet dinner. Lesson learned.

It was 40 minutes before closing, yet they were able to serve us, and allow one of its to box the food that was left. We left in time of closing on our own.

Today marks the last day ever Swiss Chalet will get my business. We ordered at the drive-through, four 1/4 chicken dinners (dark meat)... One for my girlfriend, mother and her boyfriend and myself. We were absolutely SHOCKED at the size of the chicken .. literally since I got Swiss Chalet less than 2-3 months ago the chicken is now literally 30% smaller by my estimates. This review is by no means disrespecting the franchise owner of this location as we have been at this location countless times in-store and enjoyed it. As a franchise owner, if you do indeed read this review for god sake demand more from this corporation as they are ultimately going to cost you alot in lost sales and potentially your franchise as I believe Im not alone in making this decision to finally cut ties with this restaurant chain. This shrinkflation is getting absolutely ridiculous and people need to write on here their disdain for this practice thats done in the name of pure corporate greed. Swiss Chalet... You have to do better...

This may be a long review but it s a super positive and absolute recommendation for the Dartmouth Crossing location. This location was my moms favourite restaurant before she passed away in 2018. She only went there because the staff were very polite, remembered her name and order, and always friendly and chatty with her. So, I kept going there for years after and can see why it was her favourite location, and mine as well. Here s my honest feedback as a long term customer : Manager: It all starts at the top and the manager, Danny is awesome. He cares about his staff, always mingling and chatting with customers, and never afraid to fill in and help where needed. 95% of staff are still there so that s a strong testament to a great manager/leader. He s always willing to make your meal right and a great overall experience. He needs better choices in some of his sports teams but we can let that slide :) Staff: Over the years, I ve gotten to know most servers by their name and they re all awesome, friendly, fast, and been there long term. The hostesses are alway friendly and accommodating for specific seats if availability permits. I really enjoy going for lunch and catching up with all the servers. Store: The store is always very clean, bathrooms tidy, and an overall comfortable dining experience/environment. Restaurants live and die by their employees and this location hits 10/10 for management, personal service, and long term happy employees. I highly recommend this location and look forward to my next great meal.

We ate lunch here Friday 24 May 2024. The hostess brought us to a booth and casually, as if there was nothing wrong, pointed us to this booth. Really! With all the other available places to seat us would anyone expect us to sit on this mess? There should have been police tape around the booth instead!

Ordered curbside pickup and was extremely disappointed. App said ready for 7:30 arrived at 7:33 and clicked I ve arrived in the app. Was notified to confirm vehicle details and wait for instructions. I confirmed and waited until 7:50 checked the app again and my order still said in progress I finally decided to go in and not only was my order ready but the associate said she hadn t noticed I was there on her screen! So now I have 3 lukewarm meals in soggy containers to take home and microwave for my family.

I love white meat but will not go there again. It is toooo dry. Try several times all the same.

First time eating at Swiss Chalet. Overall food was good, for me the dipping sauce for the chicken wasnt a do over.

Service was too slow for the restaurant and the best part of the food is the Chalet dipping sauce.

For an inexpensive chicken meal it doesnt get any better. Beer, appetizer, quarter-chicken dinner all for less than !$25. Cant beat it AND everything (except the beer - which was good) was fresh and hot. Definately would recommend.

Most delicious food

Had to pay for Mayo...I ordered take out & asked for a side of Mayo. I was blown away that I was charged 69 cents for each little packet of Mayo...Ive never heard of charging for Mayo...kinda cheap of you Swiss Chalet...dissapointing & sad .

Ordered take out for collection and ended up waiting 20 minutes after it said it was ready. The food was cold, and the fries were limp and tasted reheated. Very disappointing meal.

Went during a windstorm. The power in the restaurant flickered for a moment and came right on. The service was excellent and the festive special is always good. I asked for extra cranberry and received it.

Had the best restaurant experience I ve had in a while! Took my wife and got the 2 quarter chicken with 2 appetizers spring roll and perogies. The food was so fresh and moist tasting that my pallet was going wild! The timing was decent and in line for good quality food. Felt full and energetic very clean food and building! Great staff and service thanks and happy New year!

Had the worst experience ever. The service was so poor. Ordered chicken BBQ pizza for my son, who made us go there because he wanted pizza. Was served cheese pizza, asking the attendant, she took the pizza and instead brought the same, only added chicken topping and BBQ sauce. That was the worst food you can offer a child. Kids menu comes with dessert , was never offered to us. And in general the service was bad. Been going there for a while but with this kinda service today, will look for places where you feel you are needed.

On Friday, 24 March, 2023 , I ordered a meal to be delivered to my 90 year old step father to celebrate his birthday! What arrived at his apartment was a leg bone and skin and no meat but a lot of French fries. Order id- 202303241189001 in the amount of $32.86. We have made a similar order for more than 10 years now and never been so disappointed. The dessert that was ordered was smashed as well. Needless to say, my poor step-father did not enjoy his birthday meal! The only positive was that it was delivered on time.

Christine was our server. She was FANTASTIC! The food was served quickly and hot. Delicious!! Great restaurant. Clean. Staff are super friendly!

Terrible front of house service

We just had dinner as a family at this branch of swiss chalet (16 Foulis Row Dartmouth Nova Scotia). We came on May 5 at 8:05pm. We had 5 kids (2 familes) with us when we dine in. When we were asked about our order we mentioned donuts as dessert for our kids but the server suggested that we will have it served for later. So when we finished our meal we were expecting that the donuts will be next to get to our table, because that was what the server told us. We were surprised that the server came back to ask us if we want dessert. We reminded her that we want donuts for the kids and that she told us that she will serve them after we finish eating, she then said that they will not be serving donuts anymore because the kitchen is already closed and the fryer has been turned off. This happened around 9:15pm. The restaurant closes at 10pm, I understand if they want to close the kitchen an hour earlier but they could have told or ask us if we anything else to order because they will be closing the kitchen. The server was the one that suggested to have the donuts be served after we eat our meal but she is also the one that refuses to serve it to us . We ordered it together with our main meal, if she just listened to our request and serve it ahead then we wouldnt have missed the dessert and it could have been fried earlier before they closed the kitchen. I am not sure if that is how they do things on evenings like this. Or they just want us to leave soon so they can close early? I know this maybe a small issue to some because it was just donuts that we can easily buy outside, but my concern here is that our kids were expecting it that night and they were really sad and disappointed that the restaurant doesnt want to serve it to them. They didnt made an effort to correct their mistake, and still insisted on not serving it to us. As parents, we are really disappointed too because our kids were looking for those donut desserts that they serve.

Food took very long. Chicken came out raw. Manager only willing to give 30% discounts. The chicken was still pink. Manager never came out. Got the waitress to do it for her. She was great but kitchen was slow. Not very busy. Other restaurants around were full to the door now i know why. Never again.

Michelle was our server, she was fantastic. The crew accommodated our party of 12 at supper time, our food was delicious and hot, it was an absolute feast for us weary evacuees. The lemon pie was the cherry on top :)

Very busy location. Cannot get through phone line unless you go through order option. They refused many groups of reservations. Is this something new? Swiss Chalet has already taken reservations. We had a party of 11, saw a part of 7 go in no problem,and saw a party of people outside who were trying to make a reservation and were denied. I asked to speak with the manager after driving over to make a later reservation, and once I spoke with the manager the reservation was made. It should not have been so difficult to make a reservation. Rather than a large group show up and not be able to be seated together, especially when it was for family out of Province! So we could tell they were not happy with us when we arrived. The hostess did the bare minimum,drink refills were not even offered and we we checked on one time besides the bill. Now we tip generously, and didnt appreciate the treatment we had to endure. When the hostess asked whos ready to order, and I was right beside her and said I am, she went the opposite way around the table and took my order last. I asked for dipping sauce for my fries and it didnt come with my order. So they were not happy to have us there, and if one of us was not a Chef, we would have not left a tip at all but its unfair to the kitchen staff who work hard. Our chicken was cooked but pink. This can happen from slow roasting and other reasons and can be fully cooked but it out several of our party to feel uncomfortable and they didnt eat that part of their chicken. It was such an ordeal to get a reservation, that we didnt speak up,we should have. I dont recommend this location in Dartmouth Crossing and will never go back. We have a location closer to our home that we normally use and have no issues there ever. But for a family dinner it was pretty dissatisfying. Pure honesty and it was a week day! And our adventures had us closest to Dartmouth Crossing and Swiss Chalet is our custom dinner out. What a shame, and a lot of money spent. Shame on you,answer your phone and if you no longer take reservations, advertise it. If you needed a deposit,we would have happily done so.

It is a nice clean place to visit. The service is prompt and friendly. The food is great. It can get a bit noisy at peak times. Its best to be aware of the potential noise if that could be an issue.

We went at dinner time and didnt have to wait long for a seat. The hostess and waitress were both friendly and attentive. The food was hot, fresh, and tasty. And it was delivered to our table quickly. I also think the pricing was reasonable too. We will definitely go again!

Why does the floor seem so slippery?

I live in london ontario and Im also a server. My server Chris was absolutely amazing. What a beautiful person, you can tell he really enjoys his job and people. The loaded potato soup was delicious!!! That is all we had as we were going to a wedding and needed a little something in our tummy. The hostess who greeted us needs to say hello, put a smile on her face and pretend she likes her job as she made us feel uncomfortable when we were greeted and when she sat us. She also sat us at the furthest table she could find. I was with an elderly woman with a cane who has a hard time walking, i dont think she noticed as she was too grumpy. Thank God for Chris our sever who made up for the grumpy hostess. Definitely coming back next year.

What can I say? People go to Swiss Chalet because they want consistency. There may be better or different chicken out there but you go to Swiss Chalet because you know what you are going to get. Fast, friendly service, and good the way you expect it be. No disappointments.

Waited over 20 minutes for a chicken sandwich and mashed potatoes. Usually no big deal.. mashed potatoes were the worst thing I ve ever seen they were powdered mashed potatoes that weren t whipped enough so there were massive clumps of dry potato powder in my mashed girl at the take out counter was working without anyone and was clearly new poor service extremely poor food would not recommend.

Absolute garbage meal. Had the Festive Special. Gluey stuffing, dry, dead fries, flubby green beans, overcooked chicken, and completely forgot the buns. I called the restaurant and was clear that I am looking to have the meal replaced, and I was given a partial meal credit and a lecture for not returning the food if I wanted a replacement. Im sorry, Im not driving back out at 7 on a Friday after spending 30 mins in the drive thru, and please dont chastise me and treat me like a broke college student. Absolutely disappointing experience. Keep clear of this location.

First of all when you first walk in theres a not clean smell to the place that really put me off but the kids were hungry and we LOVE swiss chalet so we just shrugged it off. I ordered chicken and ribs plate, my chicken was pink and the underside of my plate was greasy. My sons crispy chicken plate had a hair. Over all a very dirty place, the only good thing about it here is the service. We are huge swiss chalet fans but this spot in particular was a major disappointment

The chicken was tasty and properly cooked. Prices are reasonable for the portions. Our server was very pleasant and, while attentive, not overbearing. The bench seat was ripped, which is why I deducted a star.

Darthmouth crossing location is 100 percent better then Darthmouth main Street location ..after visiting main Street location never thought I would return to swiss chalet ... Darthmouth cross location restored a little faith in my view of swiss chalet

So I typically do not post reviews on my experiences at restaurants because coming from a background of hospitality I understand the struggles and hardships the front of house and back of house can go through but tonight was really frustrating and unacceptable. My fiancé and I as well as three kids came for dinner around 17:15 and typically I d expect a wait for a table considering it was Saturday. But tonight was different. Yes there was a wait list and yes there were people at the door already signed in waiting for their table. My fiancé brought the three kids to the washroom as soon as we walked in, but I stood there waiting 15minutes for the hostess to finally write my name down on the sheet who wasn t there. So She didn t give us a time on how long our wait period was which was fine, but when I asked she did not give us even a approx time, in the meantime I m overhearing her say 10-15min wait for the other customers. Eventually the people who were there before us got sat . You would think we would be next nope every new table group of people who came in after us got sat before us and we ended up sitting in the waiting area for over a hour with three kids under the age of 10 getting pretty restless, and might I add we were the ONLY people in the waiting area because everyone who came in got sat. The hostess excuse was they were waiting for a table to leave and I know we don t ask paying customers to leave, so My fiancé and I started getting a little upset because we seen a few tables and booths open where we knew we could fit, so I said we don t need a big table we can sit at that booth (Jennifer s section) over there. She replied ok go ahead but we had been given no menus and did not escort us to our table like she did the others frankly just gave us attitude. Jennifer your server was awesome and even though our entry was not the greatest she definitely made our night much better. If it wasn t for the fact a family unknown paid for our food who saw how upset we were, I would have given her a big tip. Thank you Jen for making us very happy and accommodating us so well. Again being in the industry I hate being the one to speak ill of my follow tradesmen and woman but I had to say something because what I saw was unacceptable.

Food was out fast and everything was warm. Very limited choices on the menu. Restaurant was not busy when we arrived and had to wait for staff to seat us. The waiter was not friendly and did not check on us at all. Mysteriously discovered a personality when the check came and was over the top. Probably would not go back to this location - plenty of other options in the area that we have had better luck with.

Id love to share my experience with the Swiss chalet in Dartmouth crossing. We were having a staff party for our leadership team, so I placed our order several hours in advance. Upon delivery, we had unfortunately been missing most of our order. We drove up to the restaurant and spoke with the take out team. The manager there, handled the situation in a way that made me question my own managerial skills! She listened, she was apologetic, she was understanding, she even kept the entire situation fun. She had our meals remade, redelivered, free of charge, wrote a lovely message on out order bag and even threw in Lindt chocolates. This was the most amazing example of customer service. She is an absolute gem and you are very lucky to have her running your establishment. The entire take out team was so kind and understanding. Thank you all so much
