Today was the day for Birthday Steak! The Keg did not disappoint. When I informed them of a severe shellfish allergy, the kitchen manager Melissa came to speak with me regarding details and how they could accommodate my needs and ensure my safety in eating there. Melissa was so pleasant and very detail oriented, making sure specific information was known. Server Extraordinaire Blair made our dining experience so much more fun! He was knowledgeable, efficient, socialable, and fun! He made us feel so special and checked back several times to make sure every need was met. The food was amazing! I highly recommend the Baseball Steak which was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Everything was hot, tasty and presented beautifully. Oh the dessert! Billy Miner Pie...dont pass it by! Best birthday meal ever! Thank you!

We had the best service we ve experienced in a long time during our visit tonight. Our server, Baily, went above and beyond to make our evening was enjoyable and relaxing. She was incredibly accommodating and attentive, ensuring everything was just right. We will be back

The keg in dartmouth crossing is always a killer experience. The serving staff Ive dealt with have been exceptional!

The server was attentive and on the ball and the food was great as always. Its obviously pricey but the standard and consistency is always there which makes the price tag not as bad. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friend! My friends had a 5 year old and a new born with no issues.

You cannot go wrong with the Keg. Always flavourful and consistently good meals and excellent service. Their standards have not decreased over the years, and there is something to be said about few changes to the menu. The favourites have been around for years for a reason. For a casual, chain restaurant, it is always a good choice.

I still can t understand why this place is always packed. The atmosphere is ok it s a cookie cutter of every keg that is out there, and the staff is good but the food is mediocre at best, waaay overpriced, and I ve never eaten there when everyone s food was prepared properly. Tonight it was my meal that was a well done prime rib that should have been medium, mushrooms that were hard as a rock because they were undercooked, and mashed potatoes that were barely mashed. Go somewhere else and give your money to a place that cares about the quality of the food they serve.

To the two hostesses for tonight Even when half of the tables were empty, you asked me to sit at the bar for supper. I even said no problem for wait of 20 mins, and you still proceeded to show me a seat at the bar. Please do not discriminate your customers. All the good work done by everyone else at the restaurant goes to waste, because of your poor attitude. You are doing disservice to them by creating unpleasant experience. Everyone and everything else at Keg was top notch as usual.

The Striploin is probably one of the best Ive had anywhere. Its certainly not the cheapest steakhouse, but it also doesnt taste like it. Be prepared to wait if you dont have a reservation, but you can skip the wait if theres room at the bar, which honestly had better service than any table. Food

While I wouldnt have normally stopped in here, I had a gift card from about 10 years ago. I happened to be in the area for 2 day training. The atmosphere and staff were great. The prices were expensive and personally Id rather buy an expensive ribeye at home and cook it. The vegetables were bland and could use some seasoning, also the steak whole tender and good also lacked a basic salt or pepper. The double baked potato was very good though and I dont discredit the cook or tenderness of the steak, just could use a bit of seasoning. Parking: Its a big strip mall type area. Theres quite a lot of parking .

The Keg is our familys FAVOURITE restaurant. Always the best food and service. However our experience here was not good. Very disappointed. My steak was over cooked and my sons was under cooked and of poor quality of cut. The twice baked mashed potatoes were so mushy insinde they were almost runny. The wine I ordered to arrive with the starter did not arrive at all. The restaurant is new clean and modern however the quality of food is very poor. The service however was cheerful and pleasant. I recommend the keg downtown Halifax or Moxies in Dartmouth. This post is 4 years old when it first opened. Have been therr 3 times since and it is way better. Highly recommed

Decent cuisine, fun experience service could get better given the price

I went here for my fathers birthday. the atmosphere was super nice with a fireplace and cool paintings. Our server was incredible, he attended to every need and was super friendly. To start, they brought us fresh warm bread with whipped garlic butter. the bread was incredible. Then, we got the calamari and the escargot, which were both enjoyed. I got the filet mignon, it was the best steak i ever had. It was cooked to perfection, (medium rare) it looked so good it should have been on a food magazine. I got it with fries. My stepmom got the blue cheese filet mignon and my dad got the ribeye. Since it was my dads birthday, he got a free slice of the billy miners pie, and we shared it. It was quite good, while my step mom got creme brulee. It was amazing. Only problem was how expensive it was.

We are frequent guests at this location and have never had a bad experience. I have food allergies and this is one of the few restaurants I feel confident will get my order right every time. The food and the service never disappoint!

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here last night, and were both so glad we did. The food was amazing, the service was wonderful, and they even brought out a delicious piece of cake to celebrate. We both said this was the best food wed had in a while. I definitely recommend The Keg in Dartmouth Crossing for an evening out!

I like The Keg a lot, but I find they can be noisy. Not a fault of the restaurant, but something to know going in if youre sensitive to sounds. The furnishings and service here are excellent. Compared to Keg food from fifteen years ago, the food isnt as good, but what you get is delicious and ample. Kid-friendliness: Has a kids menu, and lots of kids were present the night I went.

Great event for a 10-person business party. Everyone loved their food.

We had an amazing meal here for our last night of our holiday. Cannot fault it, everything was first class, Anton our waiter was so lovely, very attentive and chatty. Definitely recommend it.

First time eating at the Keg. I have seafood allergies. It was amazing how they were careful and informative to make sure I got a good and safe steak. Responsible and trusty staff. A1 Edit: One year later. Same service. Food was reallly good. Still super careful for allergies. Got a Baileys express coffee after dinner, was really really good!

Food & menu are as good as any and superior to most. Cost is beyond anything but extra special occasions.

My husband & I had a wonderful meal at the Keg last night! Our server Blair was so attentive, kind , & very friendly . When you have great service ;it makes all the difference in whether you will come back or not. I got the filet mignon wrapped in bacon which was cooked perfectly. It was so tender it almost melted in my mouth. The baked potato , mushrooms & vegetables were all so delicious as well. My husband had the strip loin which he always gets ;and loved too! He also had Caesar salad & garlic shrimp ! We were too stuffed for dessert , & I still took half my dinner home lol . I had steak & eggs for breakfast this morning which was delicious too! I would highly recommend this restaurant . It s expensive, but worth it ,for special occasions. We went to the Dartmouth crossing location . Parking: Darthmouth Crossing Location, is much better than halifax for parking.

I had the most delicious 24oz prime rib medium Chicago charred steak of my entire life. It was the most transcendental meal I have ever eaten.

The vegetables were salty. The waitress forgot our appetizers. The presentation was worthy of food from a food court. The music at 7:00 pm on a sunday was Techno dance. The steaks were overcooked. Not worth the cost to go there.

What had once been an adequate steak house is now lackluster and sad. Strange techno music blaring from the front. Expressionless server. Missing appetisers. Charred steak. Over salted broccoli. We were there to celebrate a birthday and it was disappointing to say the least.

We attended on Friday March 22, for a girls trip and celebrate a birthday. The Night was made absolutely amazing by our waitress Mary Beth!!! She was fantastic, made the night fun was always pleasant and big smile. Our food was out of this world, and the Billy Miner Pie is deathly good it is a must try.

The food was divine...we had the prime rib...the meat was tender juicy and flavorful and the sides were great as well. My son was given a free dessert because it was his birthday. It is very good, but the salmon was mediocre at best, wasn t fresh, also scales were left on it. Last time we were here, the blackened chicken was not cooked. Otherwise all was good. Service was great. I think they sat us in a casual section as it seems they were separating those who were dressed nicer into a fancier section of the restaurant and those dressed more casual were put in the left corner. Our server was nice, but the lady who delivered the drinks was not.

We attended on our 34th Wedding Anniversary. Grace was our server, she is definately a diamond, your business is five stars because of her, and the food of course. We ordered Sirloin w/grilled veggies and pork chops w/garlic mashed potatoes. Thank you for making our anniversary.

Pleasant atmosphere, along with great service. As for the peppercorn steak or sirloin steaks, they are good but not the best for the price around HRM.

Generally great staff. Id normally give the Keg top marks for quality and consistency and while my NY peppercorn steak was exactly rare the way I like it , 3 other medium rares were medium (no reddish/pink to be found). They refunded the 3 meals but honestly it was a birthday gathering for my father inlaw and it was just disappointing and spoiled the overall enjoyment of the dinner for him.

The food and service were great but as a person in a bigger body ,The seating was uncomfortable.

Atmosphere of the restaurant is great, food was great, and a highlight was Amy s service, any issues were corrected fast and efficiently, she was very polite and helpful.

The server Gabe was fantastic. Very attentive and just all around a great server. The atmosphere is great. Love the setting. The professionalism that you see from the staff is top notch. The food was a challenge. Our steaks were just ok and not as flavorful as we would have hoped they would have been. The chicken that was an add on to my daughters Caesar salad (an additional $19) was tasteless and for $19 dollars really should have been something to remember. All in all for the experience and the price you pay for that experience we wont rush back. There are other options in HRM which rival the food we experienced. In all fairness however this was our experience and may not be your experience. Try it for yourself and determine how you fell about it.

Make sure if you go there, not to go directly to the bar without checking in with host/ess 1st!! Even if theres no host/ess at front! Lol! The manager lady seems to get really crabby about that!! Outstanding food, amazing service. The wait staff was kind and knowledgeable. He recommended I try the Bone Marrow appetizer. When I said I was worried about it being spicy he went to the kitchen and brought a small amount of the sauce for me to try. If not for that effort I would not have purchased the appetizer. Excellent work.

Had my first experience at The Keg and it was awesome. The staff were friendly and attentive despite the place was packed. The bread served with our drinks was so yummy. Food came in a reasonable amount of time and was hot and delicious. We will definitely go back and recommend.

Today was my birthday. The service by Alana was amazing. Josh was a great hit too. However, the General Manager Steve was rude and very inappropriate. Made my birthday memorable. Because of Steve we will not be back. Halifax is amazing. Steve, You should really take a course in management or reconsider your career. The way you handled yourself was not at all professional. Alana and Josh this has no reflection on you. You are all five stars and more.

I always enjoy a meal at the Keg!

Well its been a long almost a year and a half since the world pandemic began, and my wife and I were very tired. It was time to get out and have some quality time together in a restaurant we have enjoyed many times in the past. The weather was nice, after a nice drive we secured reservations at the nearest keg to our location, Dartmouth Crossing. Arrived just before our reservation and were seated immediately. We received a very cozy romantic booth in the corner, and we appreciate it. We were asked to use the QR code and check in to the keg with first name last name and phone number for tracing if required, regarding covid-19. We were also asked to use a QR code accessing an email on our personal cell phones for ordering. The number one shared item in a restaurant, and leaving cross-contamination source, is reused menus. We were glad to see the change. Monica was our server, and she did a wonderful job, kept my wife giggling and that made me happy. We both received our meals and they both looked delicious and tasted delicious. My steak was done as requested and melted in my mouth, its been a while since I tasted a steak that good, glad to be back! After our table was cleared and drinks were refreshed and topped up, she told us that we had a special dessert coming, we stated we had little or no room left for dessert, but she said in light of your anniversary, its on us! When the Billy Miner Pie arrived, it was quite Hardy has desserts go. We were not long digging in sharing this deliciousness, the caramel, the chocolate drizzles, the fudge on the bottom and ice cream on the top, a killer combination, we loved it! I included a pic of our receipt to show the out the door pricing, to help you out. We were very satisfied with the lovely meal combined with nice atmosphere and great personnel from the greeter, to the hostess, to the waitress and maitre d, a great experience all around! We solidly recommend the keg as a great place for a great meal, for any occasion, you cannot go wrong! Hope this helps!

Some of the best service Ive had! Our server, Sydney, was exellent. The food was cooked perfectly as ordered. Two of my tablemates happen to be servers as well and they said the service was a 10/10. Sydney really paid attention to small details such as refills of pop when I didnt even ask for one. Overall, super good experience!

Loved it. Had a great seat at the back by the bar. Service was great. I feel that our server went out of her way to amek sure we had a great experiance. They had a good selection of beers. I had the Keg Classic Prime Rib... I cant say anything bad about that meal, it is awesome. The Prime Rib is some of the best I have had. One thing you have to try is the horseradish when you eat the Prime rib or steaks. They have awesome horseradish. Great time. Parking: Great parking.

Ive eaten here a few dozen times, mostly consistent, but my steak is cook differently every time despite the same order. Otherwise, the staff is very friendly and pleasant and the atmosphere is also quite nice. Parking: Very large parking lot for dinner service

Went to the Keg in Dartmouth NS. Very disappointed. Meal comes with only 1 choice of side. Prime rib had so much fat on it, gravy tasted like water, double baked potato tasted greasy, mushrooms were tasteless and garlic mash was too garlicky! The New York striploin was ok, but for over $100 for two of us for just the steak dinners, no dessert or drinks, I felt I was robbed! Will not be back. Very over rated. (Smaller plate has all the fat I cut off my steak!!!

Our waiter was awesome. Other then that, not impressed. The food was mediocre. Our group had steaks, chicken, salmon, and appetizers. It was meh. From a well known, expensive restaurant, I would expect more.

We both ordered steak dinners from the Keg Classics menu for a special occasion at home. Dinner included salad, appetizers and steak plus baked potato with mixed, sautéed veggies. The ensemble of food was acceptable, even tasty, except for the steaks. The steaks were tough and chewy plus a bit beyond medium-well. There was a lot more gristle than expected for a filet mignon. Honestly, they did not present as something to enjoy from a higher-end steakhouse. They were more like the cheap cuts on the lunch special at the local tavern or diner. The cutting wasnt very well done, either. My partner was so put off by the poor quality of her steak that she has decided not to order a steak dinner from the Keg ever again. However, you will be pleased to hear that it didnt all go to waste. The dogs loved the scraps. Anyone out there have a recommendation for a steak restaurant in the HRM? Cheers!

We had a birthday celebration for our son. Our waitress Amy was fantastic! She was attentive without being intrusive! She even helped me settle a argument , she initiated a family vote and took my side not letting my mother in law pay for dinner! Delicious food to enjoy with family Thank you for a great evening.

Had a very tasty meal for our anniversary on Sunday. Place was very busy at 530. Had a reservation....needed it! The hostess who seated us wished us a happy anniversary, they do read the vookings!Our server, Blair was very knowledgeable about the menu choices. Took about 20 minutes for drinks and bread to arrive. Best froze strawberry daiquiri Ive ever had. Bread is amazing. We both had fillet mignon cooked exactly as ordered with mushrooms, twice cooked potatoes, and some veggies. All were wonderful. We were stuffed. Then Blair brought over a huge piece of Billy Miner pie ( mocha ice cream on chocolate graham wafer crust with chocolate and butterscotch drizzele) for free for our anniversary. Thanks to Blair for such good service. Seems like its very busy, but the way the place is divided up you can usually only see another table or 2..room is dimly lit and fairly quiet. Fantastic experience this evening! The hostess was absolutely lovely, and our server Blair was top notch! The food was excellent and the courses were well spaced and despite being quite busy we were well attended to and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Food is extremely salty. They have some good items, but missing on a lot for the price. Many better options for a dinning experience. Avoid mushroom rice at all costs.

I had my birthday dinner at the Keg in Dartmouth even though I live in Halifax because it is so much easier for a group of us to find parking. My prime rib was delicious. It was served a little on the cooler side, but I ordered it rare, and there was a group of us. For my side, I had the rice with mushroom. This could have been a little better. The rice did seem to be fresh or up to the standards of The Keg. The Billy Miner pie was very good, and it was free for my birthday.

We celebrated a family birthday this past Sunday at the Keg. The service for ten was very good. Although we did wait almost 30 minutes for our meal and except for 1 person who ordered steak the descriptions of medium/medium rare did not translate to the chef. I even added that I wanted mine pink and juicy, it turned out well done. Hard to complain though bc again the service was very good and the food although not cooked to our request was delicious. Make sure you reserve this is a busy spot

Ive recently gone to the Keg twice. Both times the food was excellent. Best prime rib I have ever had and their veggies were cooked beautifully. The second visit I had a small steak and it was the perfect size. I was really satisfied with the food. The bacon wrapped scallops were awesome and dessert was good as well. The service and atmosphere is OK. The finishes of the Keg are beautiful and overall its a nice restaurant. However, the vibe there is strange. It almost has a dinner vibe but its supposed to be fancy. Also, its more expensive than a lot of local Halifax restaurants but the service isnt great (not comparable to local restaurants). I found the servers rushed us. He couldnt provide recommendations when we asked. He almost seemed annoyed that we had questions. Maybe the staff just need more training or he was having an off night but this has happened twice now, which is sad because the food is so good.

My wife and I really enjoyed the steaks, the server, and the atmosphere. It was a perfect date night!

My wife and I went and ordered 2 entrees and asked for bread. We had a long wait and asked 2 more times for bread and didnt get it until 20 minutes had passed. My wife was coughing and having trouble taking down her food. I asked for water numerous times, once at the bar and several times with the waitress. Finally after I went up to the bar and complained about waiting 15 min for water someone finally got it. Poor customer service with a small number of customers and ample staff. I don t recommend

My family and I went to celebrate my youngest sons birthday. Since Covid we ve found that the majority of the restaurants we ve gone to have been disappointing. NOT THIS TIME. Service was excellent, food was great. We had the filet mignon, ribs, salmon and sirloin. All cooked perfectly. Texture and taste delightful. They did not skimp on the accompaniments either. Garlic mashed potato was full of flavour. Mixed vegetable were generous and not over cooked. The slice of birthday ice cream cake they gave my son was big enough for all of us to enjoy. Will be back!

We had a pretty good visit at the Keg. For the most part, the food was good, with decent portion for price. Atmosphere was cozy but thought the music was a little too upbeat for the atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive, however, after seated, we waited about 15 minutes before the first visit. There might have been confusion as to who was our waiter, but otherwise, it was good. I rarely give 5 stars to anyone unless its perfect and Id gladly give this a 4.5, but ultimately, it wasnt perfect. That said, we will likely return.

Wish I could give more stars for service. We had an amazing meal as always and our server was fantastic. Super engaging, prompt, nice guy to deal with. Thanks again!

This place is unequaled in HRM. Service is amazing, the food is perfect and the cost is reasonable for what you get. Cannot recommend enough.

Had one of the best dining experiences in a very, very long time. We ordered their signature Gruyere Mushroom Dip, boy it was outta this world. The accompanying Pull Apart Bread pushed it over the edge. However, the star of the night wasnt a Steak, or Prime Rib (although they all looked stellar coming out of the kitchen) but the most well thought out Charbroiled Keg Burger! No details were over looked. From the toasted buttery brioche bun, to the abundant caramelized onions smothering the slab of old white cheddar, and the well placed bread and butter pickles. The patty was thick, juicy , full of delicious flavour, with just a hint of pink in the middle. We added bacon, but honestly, this burger is so great, it would hold first place on the podium without it.

We usually visit the Keg when we want a great steak experience. We stayed at the Marriott right beside so the location was perfect walking distance. Upon arrival the reception hands you off to a runner or busboy who brings you to the table. There s a large bar area with high tables and lots of seating space at the bar. Service was quick and efficient. We had the peppercorn New York with side of veggies. We had the exact same dish a few weeks prior in Mississauga and it did not match in terms of cooking temperature. It felt like the fat wasn t rendered and steak felt a little chewy. Funny how the experience can vary from one keg to another. Lots of tvs at the bar. Quiet in general and nice place for a meal.

Whats not to love about the Keg? Food and service are always top tier. Steak is always cooked to perfection. Its our favorite place to eat.

If you want a good steak there are two things: Youre going to have to pay for it, and you need a place that knows how to cook it. Well the Keg offers you several choices and sizes of steaks at varying prices, and they know how to cook them. The Keg is my go-to place for that good steak at a reasonable price.The sides are sometimes a little off, but you just reorder them if necessary. The Keg is always one of my top places to go for a good steak.

Sydney was our server and made our experience wonderful!! I saw a lot of mixed reviews for her, thrilled to come out on the top end. A terrific birthday celebration and 6 people with everything ordered as they liked, everyone loved their food and was happy at the end of the night!

We have visited many Keg restaurants across Canada due to the consistency and overall experience. Were always leaving happy. However, this location wasnt what we expected. Most of our food was cold, from the appetizers to our main course (but the plates were burning hot), and our drinks were slow to arrive. We were disappointed and will probably avoid this location in the future.

Food was good. Service was good. Bar service was a little slow, although we were a group of 14. Still great place to eat. We will be back. Vegetarian options: A few good vegetarian options that were good

Atmosphere and service were excellent the food.... not so much. Prime rib was unseasoned and had silver skin still in making it on tough and flavorless. Au jus was just beef soup base and water and to top it off rice was undercooked. Steer away if you have actually had proper prime rib unless you want to be disappointed.

Horrible experience last night. Had a reservation, when we walked in was told that they were clearing off our table. No issues, 3 other couples of two came in after us and were all seated prior to us being seated. When they called for my reservation they didn t call my name but they called the name of the person I was with for my last reservation for their birthday, confusing the reservation all together. We then got seated to our table only to wait over 20 minutes before anyone came and asked what we wanted To drink / order. Placed our drink order and the bartender had to come back and ask if the drink was a single or double, after walking straight from our table to the bar to make said drink. Ordered a WELL Done steak and when it came to the table it still had blood pouring out of it. Sent the steak back only to have the kitchen manager come out and stare my plate down with a dirty look as if I was lying about the steak being extremely undercooked and making their customer uncomfortable. Other steak at the table also was not cooked to what was asked. Not impressed with the food or service last night. Clearly you guys were not understaffed as there were more than enough employees there. Your a five star establishment that is quite pricy, we expect the food and service to be accordingly for the price.

I had to give it fives across the board. The staff couldnt have been more accommodating to a large group of about 20. They had us seated and getting drinks immediately and even allowed us to forgo the party menu they usually put in place for groups. The food was delicious, and my top Sirloin with garlic mashed potatoes was perfectly done. Its a bit pricey, yes, but the atmosphere and service are worth paying extra for. OK, its right by a hotel in a shopping district but its not attached to the hotel and there is plenty of space. Perfect spot for a quiet (romantic even) night out.

Alright I know it s Christmas and it s busy. Understandable. We walked in and ordered a single order of calamari for take out at 9pm. Hostess says 10-15mins, won t be long. we sit and wait in the entrance. 30mins pass and we go to host and she goes and checks on the order. Hostess sorry they forgot to bring it out we take the food out to the car and it s the definition of dead and cold. We go in ask for a refund and the manger comes running and goes 1 min and we will get you a new one. 7mins later we are still waiting. They finally bring it out and we tell the manager it s a little much to wait 35+mins for a single order of calamari and the serve it cold. To quote the manger well I just got here throwing his hands up in the air. It must have been nice because we didn t just get there. Again it was dry, crusty and over cooked but not worth the effort to go back in. Might want to think twice before going here if they can t get a basic item out the door without being rude.

It was the first time Id been to a keg in years and I dont remember it being that fancy. It has changed from the classic steak house into more of a fine dining establishment. The food was great but pricey. Then again what isnt these days? The fact is, Im willing to pay extra for my meal if a couple of conditions are met. Great food and great service. They met both. I couldnt get a read on the atmosphere because there werent enough people to give it one so I couldnt give it all fives. Vegetarian options: Im not a vegetarian so I can only say that they have them. Dietary restrictions: I dont have any so all I can say is that they will accommodate. Parking: Plenty of parking.
