Exceptionally lovely people and delicious food

Updated review in 2024. Prices have gone up, understandable, but unfortunately, the quality of the food has dropped substantially since my last visit a year ago. It used to be one of my favourite places for good food and good value. I ordered my usual #15 tonight and it was missing peanuts, bean sprouts, green onion and the side sauce was sickly sweet, not the complex yummy flavour it used to be. I will go back once more in a few months to determine if this was just a bad night or if the quality has really gotten that bad. I can no longer recommend this place based on tonights experience.

Outstanding. We came here on a rainy day to enjoy some pho. Turns out they also have Chinese food and they do both really well. The restaurant is warm and comfortable and the food is really tasty, fresh and reasonably priced. In addition to the special Pho, I had a combo that included an egg roll, chicken, fried rice and honey garlic spare ribs. Sooooo good.

Food is not good! Not a pleasant experience

Broth is tasty. But my takeout order had the noodles already in my soup, so theyre soggy and not good. I cant even pick them up with my chopsticks because they fall apart. Rice noodles should have some chew to them, be these just disintegrate. Also, my soup was 3/4 sprouts and 1/4 noodles anyway. Only had 3 overcooked pieces of beef in the whole bowl.

Had the meal for three. Tons of food, but everything was drowning in sauce and tasted like oil.... Surprised by how high the ratings are for this place.

I got a recommendation by a friend to visit this Chinese restaurant and the recommended was on point. We ordered a combination of their most selling dishes and soups and everything was delicious. The soup bowl is enormous and rich.

My wife Kimberly has visited Pho Hoang Minh over 100 times and raves about it everytime. This was my first visit and I can say as a non-Pho person, this place is exceptional. The owner Kim is personable and a delight to talk to. I highly recommend #19!

Quick service and fantastic beef pho. I had the number 9. This a little family run restaurant. The atmosphere is a bit worn and cold but the soup is hot. Loved it!

Ordered the rare steak noodle soup, liked that the soup came out piping hot, but the flavor was on the light side. The meat, the noodle and the size were good. The basil has passed its freshest stage, I guess not many people are really care about it. Reasonable price.

I will always be a #1 fan of Pho Hoang Minh Restaurant. While living in Dartmouth, it was a go to for us when I worked just nearby. And now that I dont live near the city at all, every time Im driving by and know theyre open, I will always stop for the famous #15 meal. Ive shared my love for Pho Hoang Minh Restaurant with everyone and will always recommend it. The perfect flavors of the #15 are a staple. My husband and family members also really enjoy the Chinese combination meals. Everything is amazing!

I got food poison. Basically, I ordered a meal (chicken balls, fried rice, and a spring rolls *combo C1) yesterday (March 31st, 2023) around 6:10pm. Don t get me wrong service was really good;however, my food tasted a little bit weird; especially, the chicken balls. I ended up vomiting all night.

Beef pho was good. Disappointed that sriracha was the only was they make the food spicy. Was hoping for chili peppers or something. Initial server was slow and a bit hard to understand. Atmosphere was a bit disappointing, the wall along where we sat had a hand written paper sign saying egg rolls buy four get one free. Better off in the menu or advised by the waiter. Il be back regardless. Parking: Open free lot though minimal spots shared among businesses. Wheelchair accessibility: Should be able to get in an out pretty easily no stairs or anything.

Few vegetarian dishes. No Vietnamese Nem spring rolls. Vietnam authenticity is missing. No coriander on the food. Usage lackluster.

Waiting on hold to place a pickup order for 7 minutes to be told they werent taking anymore pickup orders... Maybe if I called 10 minutes before close sure but not when they are open for 2 and a half more hours, why wouldnt you be taking orders? Not the first time this has happened.. will never spend a cent at this place again

Im editing my order because the #15 vermicelli noodles are awesome. The food itself is good if you stick to certain items, and the price is now one of the most reasonable in town. If eating in, #15 or beef pho are great. If ordering out, I now call in directly (skip online services, too much room for confusion) and only order the #15. Old review: I ordered using Just Eat, because in the past when I ordered it took over an hour to receive my food. So I thought if I ordered ahead of time, I could arrive at the store in time to receive my food and carry on with my busy day. Instead I waited 25 minutes past the time my food was supposed to be done. The pho is pretty standard to sub-standard, and I found out (though it says nowhere on the takeout menu) after the fact that the chicken one, which is the only one offered on the takout menu, doesnt come with the bean sprouts. I have been given bean sprouts when eating in the restaurant, so I kind of tend to disbelieve what I was told by the lady on the phone. The man that gave me my food said I should have told them I had ordered from Just Eat...but how, I would like to know! When I arrived at the restaurant, a lady asked for my phone number. I got as far as the first 3 digits when she impatiently said ok! and rushed off, never to be seen again. I guess next time I could tackle someone to the ground to try to demand their attention that way but Im pretty sure that is frowned upon.

The food and service is great as a family type restaurant. But I was not informed about them charging extra 4% for paying with credit card.

Great pho!

We were seated right away. We were given utensils but 2 spoons were stuck together with crusted dried sauce. The pork with black bean sauce was BBQ pork instead of regular pork meat, and was rather salty. The vermicelli bowls noodles were bland but the grilled pork and beef were tasty. Don t get the rice paper rolls with the pork mixture. The rice powder mixed into the pork makes it more crumbly. I ve had better pho experience than here. They also don t tell you they will add 4% surcharge if you pay with credit. I would not come here again.

I had beef pho. It was okay nothing special.

I went in ordered the menu had below my chicken pho .50 for spring roll. They told me it said it at the bottom of every page of their menu. Okay 2.75 per spring roll or 4 for ten dollars, so I ordered 4 vegetable spring rolls. They all have pork in them. I called up and got oh sorry. That is it? Lets just say not happy. You raise prices, false advertisement and get the order half wrong. Yeah sorry does not cut it.

The cook is Chinese, but I had the best pho in Halifax so far, given that Im super picky when talking about food (see my other reviews). The tast is southern pho, so it might be a but sweet for some.

Best Pho in NS... We keep saying that we will try other meals on menu but keep going back to the pho. I personally love the special beef...

Throughout the entire pandemic this is our familys go to restaurant. We have traveled extensively and this restaurant remains our favorite. It is consistently delicious from vermicelli bowls, pho soups, dumplings and rice dishes. Over all the high end restaurants in the hrm we choose this restaurant. Fast service, large portions, and a big menu. We ordered the beef pho and the pork and vermicelli dish and both came out within 5 minutes. The bbq pork that came was the vermicelli was delicious and had a smokey flavour and the beef strips in the pho had a bit of red to it when it came out but cooked well in the broth. One thing I didn t enjoy was having a view of the kitchen while eating and watching the chef cut up the raw meat while eating. Otherwise good Vietnamese restaurant in a convenient location with lots of parking.

Pho Hoang Minh is the most hidden gem in Dartmouth. Pho is served with fresh bean sprouts and basil, delicious wonton soup is a total steal at $6 a bowl, and specials and combos have so much variety of choice. Knocks it out of the park every time.

Very good food. I really enjoy seeing the boss cut up the meat from the restaurant through to the kitchen. At least this way I know it did not come out of a bucket of saline SLIMEY solution, like some of the other restaurants. This is very fresh honest food. a very good family business. Very nice

Best pho in the HRM! The Chinese food is also the best I ve had in Nova Scotia. I ve been going here for 8 years now and it has been consistently great. The owners and staff are so kind and lovely!

Wonderful people, wonderful food!

Honestly, the food is decent but they are completely incompetent at delivery. They manage their own delivery where I clearly stated Leave at the Door, tip is in the mailbox they even wrote it on the slip for the driver. Low and behold, 4 calls and 4 ringing of the doorbell later I have to STOP a meeting to go deal with this. If a simple direction is made - FOLLOW IT. When I called they made no attempt to fix their mistake or even apologize properly.

My Wife and I have been going to the Pho since it opened. We have never had anything but spectacular food, friendly service and a warm reception. The noodle dishes and Chinese food are second to none in the city if not Eastern Canada. You will be doing yourself a great disservice if you do not order the rice rolls with pork and shrimp. Always a spectacular experience. You also have to love a restaurant that knows when its your birthday and gives you a birthday present. Dont go anywhere else go see the folks at the Pho

I came here seeing the good reviews but I beg to differ. 1) The waitresss attitude and demeanor was so rude. My mom said her pho order in Vietnamese thinking it was run by Vietnamese due to the name. Instead of responding she doesnt speak Vietnamese, she starts shouting in English WHAT? number 8? If you didnt understand Vietnamese, then how did you know what my mom wanted? My mom tried to make small talk that she thought they knew Vietnamese due to the name, the waitress just scoffs us and leaves. Even bringing out our pho, pretty much slammed it onto the table. So disorderly. 2) The springrolls are basically egg rolls, I dont even know why they list Spring rolls or egg rolls. Its just filled with tons of cabbage and a sprinkle of ground meat. 3) The pho only comes in one size and they give you a plate of veggies (bean sprouts, herbs and lime). The pho looks like they give you alot of noodles but its an illusion, they have a handful of bean sprouts underneath. Broth was subpar, had to add alot of hoisin and Sriracha to make the broth edible.

We have had better, Vietnamese.

Very welcoming atmosphere. The main waitress has this uncanny ability to not only remember you personally but what you typically order, even if you havent been in for months! My elderley parents refer to it as that mom and pop place.

Love their soup. New years eve was a bit chaotic and they fell way behind. My sweet and sour sauce must have burnt in the pan it had that taste.

The pho was meh, underwhelming amount of meat, not enough cilantro, and I think they added extra bean sprouts to add volume to the dish. The broth wasn t too flavorful either. There are much better values for the same money.

I had pho here a couple of years ago and was not impressed with the broth. I tried here again on a whim. The pho with beef was very good this time out. Broth was delicious and complex All the components were good. When I had ordered they were upfront they were out of basil. I had a basil plant at home so nbd. I had a meat egg roll and it was good. I also ordered a meat spring roll and it was just ok. Only negative was the wait time. I ordered and was advised it would be 30 minutes. It took an hour. If you order ahead you might want to double check time estimate

Do NOT come here. The waitress who doesnt speak Vietnamese is extremely, extremely rude. The owners should immediately let her go the way shes talking to customers. We ordered to-go and stressed no peanuts due to our sons allergy. Took the food home and of course there were peanuts predominantly in the box. It wasnt even busy to warrant her forgetting. If a restaurant does not respect life-and-death maters such as an allergy, would you trust their quality or cleanliness?

As this vermicelli bowl (spring roll+pork kebab version) was highly recommended by Andy Hay of East Coast Kitchen, I just had to give it a try. Great value and taste like many of their other dishes. My only tip is to get an extra order of the sauce to thoroughly coat and flavour the rice noodles. P.S. I would typically get their special beef pho bowl highly recommended.

I travel from Toronto, I tried Vietnamese food a long the road at Frederiction, Moncton and Charlottetown. This is the best restaurant I found especially Bun thit nuong cha gio. Food is delicious, prices is much cheaper compare to other places. Highly recommended.

Terrible I asked for a verimiclli bowl and got boiled chicken with no sauce 1 green pepper cut into 4 pieces and soggy noodles sitting in water. This was the worst Pho I ever had its like a bad chinese knockoff.
