33301 ON-17, Deep River, ON K0J 1P0, Canada
Small, Family-run restaurant specializing in homemade chinese-canadian food, opperating since 1995 No msg in our homemade food
Went in for lunch as a party of 3. The staff was very welcoming and kind. The food portion were huge! Especially the Singapore noodles that could feed two people. The food was delicious, we will definitely be coming back.
Perfect find in Deep River. Wanted to eat here many tomes. Great service. Friendly and welcoming. Small town feel for sure. Hot and sour soup was delicious. Fried rice a bit too dry for my liking. Overall very happy. Great place to stop and have a great meal on your travel. Conveniently located right by the highway.
The food was delicious and I had a good time here! Would recommend, would go back. Lovely family-owned restaurant.
During our recent move to the area we decided to try this place out as it was an easy option while we waited for our furniture to arrive. Not impressed at all. We ordered dinner for four, it did not feed four of us. The food was dry and tasteless. And we found it very expensive for the portion size. We will not be returning.
After reading other reviews on Google I was not sure what to expect ordering from the Golden Dragon for the first time. However, the food was delicious and we will definitely order from here again! The staff were friendly and welcoming, food hot and plentiful. We enjoyed all our dishes - the sweet and sour spareribs and general tso's chicken we're so scrumptious. No leftovers for us! I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for quality locally made chinese food.
EASILY the worst food I have had..in Chinese form??? Rice was tasteless, barely any chicken instead. NO CHIVES IN THE RICE, REALLY???!!!! The chicken balls were hard as rocks. THE EGG ROLL? ..WAS HALF FULL.!!!! WHAT A JOKE!!!. 20 bucks for 3 item combo, that was just awful. I GIVE IT A ZERO. DO NOT RECOMMEND, OBVIOUSLY 🤬
$120 for dinner for two, we got an extra side which barely made it a full meal…. I called to complain and was told nothing has changed in 28 years🤔 although I’ve ordered from here dozens of times in the past decade and always had enough for another meal the next day…. Ignorant owner cutting corners and over charging people! Sad to see how bad they are trying to take advantage of people looking for dinner! I will not be ordering there again… and shame on them for giving me trouble when I called to inquire about a half order??
We always get takeout. It's a bit pricey but definitely worth the price, plus they dont skimp on the portion size. We have never had any complaints or problems they are always friendly. The food is always hot and fresh, honestly the best Chinese food in the valley arguably the best i have ever had. The chicken balls actually have a real piece of chicken, not all dough.
Good food, lots of it, nice service
Delicious food, good portions and great price!
Tasty, good portions and ever better service
Vegetarian options: Great variety Food
Very friendly local restaurant with consistently good food. Though not always open for dine in, take out is always an option.
This used to be my favourite place to get Chinese food every other week, but not anymore. Some of the dishes are absolutely amazing but the prices are disgusting! The quality of the food is hit or miss now instead of always being on point. A recent order I made cost about 70.00$ more than any other place in comparison. Please stop increasing your prices unexpectedly by 30% ..
Was staying in Deep River for a weekend of snowmobiling. We tried this place on Saturday night and had to come back Sunday night simply because the food was amazing and the service top notch. Hands down the best Chinese food we have ever had. When asked if they could accommodate for celiac I was given a list of many options. The staff were so kind and willing to adjust recipes to ensure it was safe for me to eat. Can t wait to come back next year to enjoy again. Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating for celiac
Worst place ever been. Pricing on the menu does match current pricing 2$ charged because you pay with the master card. Got chicken fried rice, it tasted not nice... Food : 1/5 |
Take out. Always great food and service Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp and parking Food : 5/5 |
My rice was crunchy and when I ordered chicken chow mein it didn t come as noodles it came as a bunch of beans. The prices are also wrong on the website, I was expecting $12 but it was almost $18. Won t be coming back
This is a great family-owned restaurant. The food and service were awesome. The only drawback is that they re not open every day, so check before you go.
Best Chinese food in the valley.
This little gem is one of few I would make sure to do at again if I go back that way!! The waitress couldnt have been more pleasant or fun to talk with and the food could not be improved anymore than it is. We were driving thru and stopped at a motel down the road so went back there to eat. Wow!!! Best Chinese food Ive eaten in a very long time and I love Chinese food. The portions were plenty and delicious!! If u happen to be going thru Deep River and hungry be sure to stop there you will not be sorry. It was so good we bought extra to bring back to hotel room for later snack.
A very traditional Chinese diner menu and generous portions. The front-end staff was informative, chatty, and quick.
Extremely welcoming family business THEE BEST WONTON SOUP WE HAVE EVER HAD Food
We wanted to eat something other than fast food on the road, so we took a guess. Seriously, we ate really well and to our hunger! The Singapore noodles are excellent and a plate for two is perfect. We arrived at the restaurant when we only had half an hour before closing. We were very well received, the customer service was super friendly! This will definitely be a stop on the road next time were in the area.
Orderd tonight due to how much snow was out and tired of shoveling well worth taking the drive to pick up tonight was just fantastic
There was only 1 small spoon full of filling in the egg rolls The chicken fried rice was dry no flavour The price was to high for what you got I do not recommend this place
Discovering this gem was a wonderful experience! Great food, extremely friendly and personable service!
I should have taken the previous reviews seriously, the food was awful, this is the first and last time we will purchase from the Golden Dragon, fried rice was dry, filling in egg roll non-exiting, no favor to the General Tao and Imperial chicken, chicken balls under cooked, choy mein and veg with almond little to no favor. I would not recommend this place - Sorry.
Very disappointed The restaurant made a mistake on my order and charged me $10 more than the advertised menu prices. They skirt this issue by stipulating the clause at the bottom of the menu stating prices subject to change without notice. The General Tsos chicken was $17.50 but I was charged $19.50 for an item that had 8 small pieces of chicken bits. I will never order from this restaurant again. Rice was hard. Final bill for four people (one child under 8) was over $110. This did not feed my family.
Edit to previous review- I should have taken other recent reviews seriously, food is bland , over expensive for the little quantity-$21.50 for a small plate of boiled noodles and vegs without taste/ flavour. Literally added ketchup to add sOme taste and now I m feeling off. Please disregard my last year s review. August 2021 - Great food! They made it extra soicy as we wanted. And a great fond for Indians who enjoy the typical Indo Chinese flavour!! will definitely stop if I m on this route again.
We go for the chicken balls
Cant beat their chicken balls best in the world amazing food all round.
Expensive and long wait
Great food. Great service. Decent prices and the portion sizes are awesome. Definitely recommend this place to anyone craving a good chinese meal.
IN 1 WORD YUMMY
The egg rolls have very little stuffing. I was very disappointed.
Our family has been going to the Golden Dragon for years. Whenever out of town relatives come they always request Chinese food from this restaurant because they say (and we agree) that its simply the best Chinese food anywhere. Its what I want for my birthday dinner.
Good food. Terrible price. Approximately 40%- 45% more for the same meals compared to other Chinese restaurants.
Not as good as it used to be and prices are 40 to 50% higher than anywhere else offering the same food.
Excellent food! We order here for almost every event. Some people complain about the price, however all the food is hand made and good quality.
One of my favorite Chinese places, very helpful and caring staff and the food is amazing.
I ordered the combination plate with chow mein. Eggroll was hollow with minimal filling! Fried rice not cooked properly as rice was hard and chewy. Also lacking veggies and very plain:-( Chow mein also lacking veggies aside from sprouts. All in all, the whole meal was very bland.
The food here is consistently good and worth every penny.
This is authentic Chinese food. No reheated frozen food from this place and no MSG. Delicious!
Sorry, I dont usually give reviews, but this was the first and last time that we will get food from here. The egg rolls were definitely lacking filling, rice was hard and lacked veggies. Honey Garlic ribs were disgusting. Not good for the price paid. Even the fortune cookies were stale.
There must be a road before the car reaches the mountain, and if there is a road, there is a Chinese restaurant!
Lol is amazing food is awsome best won ton soup ever
If I could post a zero review I would. We ordered tonight to get home and realize our order was wrong. When we phoned to have it corrected the lady argued that we were wrong and they were right. No offer to correct no appology they simply insisted that pork is chicken and they can do no wrong.
Awesome food, generous servings and great selection. The owners/staff are always friendly and provide excellent service.
Unfortunately was a surprise that the chow mein had no noodles in it (100% bean sprouts) and tasted like I was eating water, very bland. Definitely not worth the 15 bucks and will not be back.
Great little gem in Deep River! Fresh and yummy Chinese food.
I had heard amazing things about this place so finally we order and my husband goes to get it. Rice is bland and isnt fried rice suppose to have vegetables in it? The Cantonese chow mein sauce looked like water and tasted like it too and our egg rolls well then were just pitiful. Im not impressed especially all the good things I heard.
Excellent food , friendly staff
If you wish to eat in restaurant be ready for more than hour for your food, won ton is actually chicken sup, stay away from this place
Very good food for those who love Chinese food
Definitely 5 stars!!!
Love this restaurant. Food is geat.
Always look forward to coming home and eat here
Stopped on the way towards Quebec for lunch. Great food, down-to-earth, friendly, and clean. At lunchtime, it attracted local elderly people. Really comfortable and family friendly atmosphere.
Awesome food ! Extremely fresh !! Food stays hot throughout meal. Worth the drive and $$.
Excellent food
Always Great food
Stopped in on a Friday night and there was already a party of 12 or so people thought there may have been a longer wait for our food and it really didnt take very long at all. The hot and sour soup was great. They were not our favourite egg rolls, a little under-stuffed and stringy. Our main dishes were great and huge-had enough for lunch the next day. Didnt feel hungry an hour later either. We will be back.
So tasty! Good service and hot food. We always stop on our way through to Sudbury and back.
Food was being packaged as we arrived so we werent waiting for our take out order. The staff was friendly. With the recent changes to minimum wage it appears the owner has raised the prices from the menu that was posted here. (I Uploaded the latest version) So that was a surprise. The food was pretty good but overall I wouldnt say it matched the $100+ price tag. Its a nice little place to sit and eat if you can get in on most nights, but be aware of the prices.
Got the number one, great as always.
I grew up in Deep River and babysat the owners children as a teenager. The food has been amazing and delicious for 30+ years and counting!
Very good food, slow service inside, but fast order for pick up.
Ok food not special
Still the best deep river has to offer. But I believe theyve experienced junk veggie creep (hunks of green pepper and onion instead of proper veg like carrot and such).
Had a great meal. Lily is very friendly and assisted in choosing gluten free options. Hot and fresh meal! Would highly recommend when visiting Deep River.
Dont judge a book by its cover: REALLY GOOD FOOD!!
Excellent service with a smile and a good meal
Great service .Food was really good .It was fresh, hot, and tasty .
A wonderful part of the Deep River family. The wonton soup is the best!
Good food
The food is great and the service is always good. The chicken balls are amazing
Run of the mill Chinese restaurant. Eat in, takeout, delivery. Good prices.
Love this place! I come from Ottawa just to go to it!
Best food around
Great take out.
Excellent fresh food.
Always fresh and quick.. The best won ton soup I have come across!!!
Amazing food and live in the area and wouldnt change a thing about it
