The food here is amazing a go to for Breakfast, Lunch, and Supper. Staff is friendly and kind. The building itself is clean and kept. There Pizza was a surprise and one of the best Iv had in a long time.

RESTAURENT EXPERIENCE Used to go every Thursday for their wings but service was getting worse so we decided to go every once in a while. Up until tonight it was alright however our server was Laryn. Now we gave our drink orders to him twice and told him how the cheques would be devided up and didint get our drinks until right before our food. He couldn t get the dishes or drinks to the right people which was not too much of a bother as there where a few other tables there as well. What bothered me about his service was I had a screaming baby throwing a full on temper tantrum at the end of our meal so we asked for our cheque. We did have multiple people at our table would of been three separate cheques. He proceeded to go to the other couple seated with us. I spoke up in frustration stating if he could expedite us as we had a screaming baby and was wanting to leave asap (I don t know about others but I felt bad for the other people at the restaurent trying to enjoy their meal). To which he responded he didint deserve to be talked to that way with a lot of attitude behind his statement. Mind you I did not raise my voice I just spoke to him directly maybe not the nicest tone but I have a baby having a full on temper tantrum and NOTHING IS WORKING. I had to walk away and my husband dealt with our baby and brought her out to the car as I went to grab our left overs I pulled him to the side and asked for his name which he would not give me until I gave him mine. I went to walk away and very loudly in front of all the customers he states I did nothing wrong to you. I responded with I just wanted some empathy and respect. The lack of professionalism shown by this server was something I had never experienced before and even having experience in the serving industry myself would of never displayed

The dining room was absolutely filthy. The carpet is so old and full of visible dirt. Obviously hasn t been cleaned in weeks maybe months. You could tell that the french fries had been cooked in oil that hasn t been changed in a very long time. Absolutely disgusting Food and drinks: Do not eat here. You could get sick.

I travel back and forth to Ottawa from North Bay 4 or 5 times a year. For years I always stop at the Bears Den for a meal both ways on every trip. The food is great, service is top notch and good prices. The place is always immaculately clean and the owners and staff are fantastic. Food and drinks: I have never stayed at the motel but the food in the restaurant is fantastic.

Very friendly staff, they were generous as we had to change our plans due to the snowstorm. There were a few miscues but nothing major. Would visit again.

Snowmobiled in with two of my friends this past Friday evening. Stayed the night and had our meals here. Service was great and food was excellent and definitely not overpriced!! Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic Service. It was a very busy night, yet the servers were on point. The prime rib dinner was cooked to perfection ( we enjoy rare) as well as very large portions. The homemade red velvet cake was fresh and delicious. Great experience!

Great restaurant / hotel that is larger than you would expect. I didnt stay at the hotel but the lobby and restaurant has been updated recently. They said the rooms were as well. Lots of choices on the menu. Great destination when snowmobiling. We stopped here with easy access from the main trail (snow all the way to the parking lot).

I ordered a bears den burger, and my husband ordered a chicken Caesar wrap. My burger was bland, dry and burnt. His wrap had bland chicken. Our fries were also bland. Overall quite disappointed with the food, will not be ordering from them again.

Living In The area for 8 years and finally went for the first time. Needless to say I ve been back multiple times since. Staff is great, food was quick and great. They even pushed my kids meals through a little faster for us. Customer service is top notch.

The bears Den is one of the few motels in Deep River. I didnt say here but I did eat at the lounge and I can say its above average for a small town hotel diner. Chill ambience, comfy booth, sassy server and good food portion size and cost. When comparing with towns of a similar size this lounge is well run and a decent place to grab some grub. It may be a touch rough around the edges but it certainly provides good consistent food.

We only used the restaurant and the food is good and plenty of it on the plate.

The owners have no respect for their customers, treat their staff poorly, don t clean their rooms and the quality of their food has gone down. I refuse to support them now.

Dont try the Butter Chicken, I expected it should be spicy, but it is not, it is very salty, the sauce is watery and the naan is hard, also the rice is cold.

I was shocked by the filth of the carpet and the floors in the foyer. I believe they are beyond the need for a good deep cleaning and need replacing. The chair in our room was dark with grime on the arms. The room had a large plaster patch where the door knob had been pushed through the wall and other areas where the paint was chipped or wall damaged. The bathroom shower/tub seams were dark with grime, the drain was gross looking. The beds were clean, the carpet looked okay. Housekeeping did a good job with linens, dusting and overall appearance, but the unit was/is in desperate need of bathroom upgrading and furniture replacement. I dealt with one staff member, she was lovely. I would not recommend due to the uncleanly unkempt state of the motel.

We did not stay.. but we ate here... and quite frankly, it is the only place to eat in deep river. Best tasting food, service, portions, and service Do not pass this place by... stop and eat here. You will not be disappointed

Grabbed a pizza to go and some buttertarts. Pizza was good, buttertarts amazing. Bea is amazing and if you stop in to eat, I hope you get her as your server, she will make it that much better.

Service 5 stars ~ Showed up in the middle of the night with no reservation, and we were accommodated right away. Professional, friendly and helpful. The room 4 stars~ The entrance to the hallway that led to the room, was a separate entrance. It was on the side of the building and up the stairs. Not very practical especially if it s raining, no parking on side of building and wasn t accessibility friendly. The room itself was clean and comfortable. Great value and I would still recommend.

This restaraunt was amazing. We got the breakfast and it was probably the best Ive had. They have home made bread too. The servers are friendly.

Food and drinks: We were passing through and just went to the restaurant and not the hotel after being recommended there by an acquaintance who was local. We will return here whenever we are nearby. The menu was surprisingly broad, ranging from various traditional to fancy burgers (even venison & boar, which was excellent), butter chicken (popular during our visit), excellent fish, large schnitzel & mushroom sauce (excellent, see photo), salads, appetizers (zucchini sticks and pickerel were excellent), soups, fresh and popular desserts (famous butter tarts, pies), etc. Overall the food was large and scrumptious, the service was good, and they had a steady stream of dine in and takeout business on a Monday evening verifying our experience. Prices were very reasonable, the venue is very spacious with a bar in a back room. I would be surprised if it wasnt the best or one of the best restaurants in the area.

I had consulted the reviews of the restaurant, not those of the hotel! Run down not nearly. This establishment is in great need of love, hasnt been refreshed in centuries. The questionable cleanliness of the bedding and the persistent musty smell in the room made us immediately leave our eyes open! In addition, we came back with bed flea bites... disgusting!

We went to the Bears Den for dinner tonight and not only was the food delicious but the server, Laaren, was absolutely amazing!! He was very attentive, enthusiastic, charming and made my kid feel very comfortable. Go to the Bears Den when Laaren is working, you will not be disappointed!! He s a gem!!

Their food is always fresh and exceptional. Friendly stuff front and back of house. Just ordered a pizza for the first time. It was a butter chicken pizza and it was fabulous! Theyre on the side of highway 17 as youre coming in towards Deep River. Definitely stop in!!! Dallas Food and drinks: Absolutely always fresh.

Great spot, Ive only had breakfast there but it is delicious. Servings are large, nice place. Im sure the other meals are just as good. Ill go back again for sure

I hate to leave a poor review at this restaurant because I like the place and its always got a good vibe going on but we had a meal that was less than stellar. I had a rib eye and you needed a hacksaw to cut it, and I have had beef jerky that was more tender than this piece of kevlar....it came with ice cold corn and vegetables. My wife ordered the pickerel dinner which was awful. Im a fisherman and pickerel filets arent this big even if you caught a world record!....plus whatever type of fish it was was so heavily battered it could have been carp for all we know and was very bland. Very disappointed in a meal that wasnt cheap. The other guys had nachos and wings which they said were good. Like I said, too bad really because its a nice place with nice staff.

The worst steak special - EVER. The service was none existent. Server almost scolded me when I asked how the cook prepared his/ her med/ rare steak. After dropping the plates on the table, never saw the server again. But one attempt to cut or eat the steak and we knew why. Almost all of the serving was fat , except for 2 bites. And was as oily steak special , ex pet for the charred outside. A tablespoon of soggy vegetables and 3 small pieces of oily roasted potatoes. I paid $25 plus tax and drink for 3 bites of inedible food . Never again

We were there last weekend and this weekend and the food was amazing. There were 8 sledders with us and everyone loved the food. Famous deep fried cheese curds were so good. Now on this trip just this weekend. I got into a bad sled accident. When we got off the trails and went inside and my husband asked for a bag of ice for me they were amazing. The owner himself went to his house to get me Tylenol Advil and muscle cream to put on my arm they gave me a free ride to the hospital they were so generous so kind hearted so so nice and took care of me I was in shock my adrenaline was going after a bad accident like that I broke my wrist and they help me the staff the owner Rollie Roley that works in the back they were just so so kind hearted I will give this restaurant a five out of five just for that service but their food is honestly amazing not one complaint out of two weeks that we ate there everybody s food was so good

Stayed here while on a snowmobile trip and there is great access to the trails from this area.

The staff is always so nice. We often stop here to eat when in Deep River. The food is always good. This mornings breakfast was a bit disappointing. We ordered pan-fried potatoes, and we got deep fried. We asked about it, and apparently, they had none... The kitchen omitted to tell the servers, and didnt bother to give us a choice of the many types of potatoes. Thats a no no. They should always advise and let us make the choice..

This restaurant never disappoints! Food was excellent. We ordered the fish and chips (switched to ceasar salad instead of fries) and the Bears Den Burger which was very tasty, side of Forty creek whisky BBQ and sweet potatoe fries for diner. We came back in the morning for breakfast and it was equally excellent. Great service from Shannon and Becky and our first experience with a robot waiter!! Strongly recommend this restaurant. Hats off to the chef - great job!

Stopped in for lunch on the way home. Decent looking menu. Ordered the Beef Dip....wow ! More fat and veins in the meat than there were edible parts. The au jus is the gravy they serve with the fries. Nachos were soggy. Waitress wasnt very good either. Never asked how the food was cuz she clearly didnt care. Pretty sure the beef was bad cuz it ripped right through me on the ride home. I strongly recommend going elsewhere.

We stopped here on our way to Montreal. They are open very early in the morning, I believe the server said from 6:00am but not sure. The breakfast they serve is very affordable and is cooked homestyle. Id recommend stopping here for a quick bite to eat.

We had the fish and chips, and roast beef sandwich dip - both were excellent. The fries are just about as good as you can get anywhere. Best restaurant in Deep River, maybe the best between Pembroke and North Bay.

Stopped in on my way to Ottawa for breakfast. It was amazing the service was fast and very friendly, so good that I stopped on my way back to Northbay the next day. Home made bread was such a great surprise and wonderful to dunk into a fresh egg yoke. Thank you!!! Will definitely revisit on my next trip to the Capital. Kudos to you and your staff

To be honest, I was not a fan. Orders were wrong, food was not great. Service was inexperienced.

Hotel room need a good update.. but the restaurant was a 5 star.. breakfast was delicious...

The service has become exceptionally slow...40 minutes to an hour is too long to wait, no matter what the excuse. Hire more staff. We expected prices to increase but not the food portions to decrease at the same time. Fries are now half-servings, soup and oatmeal are half-bowls, pickerel strips are fewer. The servers are fantastic for the most part. SUMMARY; SERVICE WAY TOO SLOW, PORTION SIZES GETTING TOO SMALL. TREAT US BETTER PLEASE.

My family and I had an amazing time here! Our server, Rebecca, was outstanding! She brought Bella (the serving robot) to meet our kids before our food was ready, and then even had her serve the food! The kids loved it. Rebecca was very accommodating, and went above and beyond. She is very kind, and so friendly. My kids even commented on how awesome she was! The food was the perfect size for lunch and it was delicious! I definitely can recommend the beef dip, and my husband loved his Grizzly Burger! We will definitely plan to eat there if we re ever road tripping that way again! Thanks so much Bears Den and Rebecca! Parking: Great and easy access parking in front of the restaurant! Kid-friendliness: Not only was our server super friendly, but they have a lot of kids choices on the kids menu!

I called to order chicken wings with hot sauce on the side with a fries. We received chicken wings sauce on it with no fries. told that sauce was put by accident but they are not too hot. My husband which does eat spicy quit often is unable to finish them as too spicy. I order too the Seafood casserole, it came with no mussel no mushroom and crab imitation with a basic bred and basic rice... And finally, we ordered a nacho and it was not too bad except that was cooked directly on a foiled paper where all the cheese was sticked on... Parchemin paper and transfer after is not an option? Anyway, Really not impressed as it was pricy too compare to quality and presentation. First time and probably last time. sorry.

The new owners are great people to try to make you happy and satisfied with your meal. Theyre offering delivery during lockdown which is fantastic. And the food depending who the cook is, is fantastic especially the butter chicken.

Ordered Shrimp and spinach salad with rice. I could count the leaves lying over a cheap bed of USELESS white lettuce. Dressing was so cheap. Shrimp was over fried and the dip was way to hot to not have a pepper warning posted. Rice was JUST...better. Would I order this again?!...NO. take NOTES new owners. Will try a couple of more times...thats it.

Decided to come here for dinner. Ordered bears den burger with fries and gravy on the side. Waited a good 35-40 mins for food. The burger was good, but so full of grease it made it very difficult to eat because the bun soaked up alot of grease. I picked apart the burger and only ate the patty. The fries were soggy and the gravy was small portioned and very bland. I was givin a tomato that was cut like a wedge. (Thick on one side and thin on the other) and a half a piece of lettuce leaf. The waitress was very polite and professional. Really trying to support local businesses but its hard when the quality of food has gone so down hill. I hope my next visit is more a of a pleasurable experience.

My family did not actually stay here, however travelling at night between north bay and Ottawa my kids needed to use a bathroom. They did not hesitate to allow our family to use the bathroom when everyone else was closed for the night. They even offered food for our travels. Amazing hospitality. Thank you to the staff at Bears Den, we would not have made it to our destination without your kindness

Such an amazing staple of the Valley! The owners are some of the kindest people I have ever met. They always go above and beyond for their guests- even helping me carry out my take out order to my car while I was carrying my baby carrier without asking. They just care. The food is always so fresh and delicious! My in laws stay at the motel every time they come up and visit and always have nothing but wonderful things to say also.

Just spent the weekend here. Had a great time. The food is amazing. The staff are very friendly and good natured. I highly recommend staying here.

Great food and people! Set up perfect for a snowmobile stay.

In their defense they were extremely busy...BUT...I was shown to a table on arrival and had to wait 20 min. before my order was taken. Then it was just over a full hour from when I arrived that my breakfast order came. It was undercooked and cold. I have been there once before and it was OK but nothing special.

Amazing hamburgers

The food was really good, but the rooms are quite low end. Bed sunk in the muddle, blinds were broken and missing a piece so we had had street lights blaring in our room all night. Towels were cheap and thin. Pretty much a 1960 s motel with no upgrades since that time.

Tried the LODGE burger and fries..venison w wild boar mix.......everything was great..service was awesome...beer was cold...bonus

We stopped for supper. Burgers were homemade and great! We sat outside and they even brought out water for our dog. Also very well setup for social distancing.

The food wasnt that good unfortunately... The waitress forgot our drinks to start not only to bring them to the table but that we ordered two waters and she only brought one. The kitchen forgot our blue cheese dip or any dip as a matter of fact for our Buffalo cauliflower bites when asked for it she brought out a container of blue cheese which had to be sent back for a dressing which was supposed to be blue cheese but tasted extremely bad, the buffalo cauliflower bites tasted so disgusting that out of three of us one person could manage to eat them resulting in us spitting it out the flavor was so harsh. We also ordered a kids fish and chips, french onion soup and calamari... The French onion soup was mediocre it was mozzarella instead of Swiss and had an odd taste, my sons fish he wouldnt eat do I had a few bites(which had an off taste) then realized the fish had a strange color to it and after removing the batter had established a yellow color to the fish with a harsh smell. The two glasses of chocolate milk my children got the glasses had a dirty rag smell to them. About an hour and a half after eating I had gotten sick and also had diahrea. This place is very cute and the description of their meals sound delightful unfortunately I would not recommend this for future reference. The waitress did refund us for the buffalo bites... $40 in total...

Stopped off on the way back from camping to get a hot meal. Service was prompt, safe from Covid (all safety precautions are in place) and the food was wonderful. They make everything fresh in house including most of the sauces. Highly recommended. Did not stay the night, but if the rooms are as nice as the decor inside, Im sure they are lovely. Classy place, will definitely drop by again.

Worst stay of my life

Four people for dinner. Apetizers were plain and uninspiring. The veggie wrap was cold, seemed just out of the fridge with a papery taste, chewy and tasteless. The chicken wings were served cold, the moose burger was burnt and the schnitzel big and tasteless. Definitely not worth the price.
