Best butter chicken on the west coast

First ever Indian restaurant we tried in Canada and guess what it is the best in town honestly, We tried lamb and goat buriyani it was amazing fresh and delicious. Keep up the good work guys Will be back soon Highly recommended

I used to frequently visit this buffet restaurant due to its consistently good food and service, but recent experiences have left me deeply disappointed. Despite calling ahead and being assured that the buffet is open, we arrived to find a chaotic scene. While we were initially having the starters and then when we wanted to start with the main dishes but we found most trays were empty, while we requested for the main dishes, the staff told us that the kitchen is closed but we haven t started with the main dishes as it was only about 10-15 mins since we entered the restaurant . To make the situation even worse, we were then told that we would need to pay separately for any additional dishes. Had we been informed of the kitchen closure beforehand, we would have opted for the à la carte menu. We ended up having only the appetizer and dessert after paying the full price for the buffet. Sadly, the decline in both food quality and service has left us reconsidering future visits to this establishment.

First time ordering take-out from Doon, was impressed with the diversity of food options and price point of menu. The chicken samosas are the best weve ever had - good quality, not greasy and delicious! We ordered aloo paratha, butter chicken, bhindi masala and mixed raita - the food portions were great, food wasnt too oily or greasy and the food was yummy and delicious! We are fans and will order again.

Giving 3 stars because I think there was just some sort of mix up in the order I placed online. Over all the taste was absolutely amazing ! Portions were great. But I ordered lamb in my curry and I am positive it was not lamb it was beef which beef upsets my stomach, lamb does not. I can still eat it but Ill have a bit of a stomach ache later on. I also got palak paneer as my friend doesnt eat meat. We ordered the palak mild as she doesnt like spice too much (little is okay but cant handle alot ) and I got the lamb curry medium. The palak was even spicy for me (but I can handle spice) and my lamb curry was not spicy at all. Unfortunately I couldnt trade her because she doesnt eat meat so she ate the rice naan and raita. By the time we picked it up and got home and finally sat down to eat with our movie, it was too late to call and go back. Honestly if those things didnt happen it would have been 5 stars because it was actually all super tasty but my friend sadly didnt get curry to enjoy and Ill have a tummy ache later haha.

Food is tasty but if you are celiacs stay away. I got terrible gluten poisoning here with the curried fish. Told it was gluten free but it was not. Later when my wife rechecked found the staff told her it was gluten free because they had used all purpose flour. Something got lost in translation.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is impressive . It is situated in a convenient location and provides excellent customer service. The restaurant is well-liked and frequently visited. The quality of the food is also good and the wait time is relatively short. Surprisingly, the service was efficient, with an ample number of staff members attending to customers in a timely fashion. The Chicken Malai Tikka were particularly outstanding, and I would suggest this place if you happen to be in the area.

So I ve ordered from here LOTS , Went here this evening, and ordered, just so extremely disappointed, seems the prices went up, and the take out portions are significantly smaller. I always have lots of left overs but I barely had any left and I didn t eat more than usual. The Raita was so much smaller . I was a regular and now I will not go back ever again, I feel so ripped off.

Been getting take-out 2 or 3 times a month from Doon for about 4 years. Food is delicious, good quality, consistent, fast and great service. Owner/Staff are very polite and accommodating. Our go-to faves are Butter Chicken, Lamb curry, Okra, Eggplant and the plain naan. Regardless of the spiciness/heat requested, what remains constant are the wonderful flavour of their food. Highly recommend.

A gem for Indian food. Curries are made with care and rich in spices. Not many places have curries teeming with freshly ground spices. Dont let the simplicity of their restaurant decor stop you from their food.

Incredibly, the attendant added a 20% tip to my take-out meal, without my authorization or without even informing me. This is not allowed. Edit: in response to the restaurant s comment, why did you charge 20% more than the order itself? The machine asked for the usual tip, the waitress took the machine and handed it back. I assumed she hit skip . She clearly charged 20%. It s not a lot of money, but everyone should be made aware of your unethical practices.

Moved to Ladner a few months ago and have ordered from Doon many times since. Food is FANTASTIC! We have yet to try to buffet. Only critique preventing me from giving 5 stars, is I wish they would write which is which when you order out, as a lot of curry dishes visually look the same, knowing who s is who s would help. I was craving some Indian snacks so I ordered through a delivery service. As a result, the food came a bit soggy but that was to be expected and I just popped them into the air fryer for a couple minutes. Unfortunately, the flavour was just lacking for me. The channa bhatura was the only dish that really impressed me. The vegetable samosa, paneer pakora and allo tikki unfortunately fell flat. Next time, I would probably stick to just ordering their curries and breads.

This is a great place indeed. Their combo meal is great ! We always visit here whenever we come. Staff is sweet and food is delicious too! Should definitely visit.

I love this restaurant. My go-to for Indian food. I feel like they have the best butter chicken and mango chicken curry Ive ever had. Even my friend who is not a fan of butter chicken loves it. For the price, this place is very under rated. The food is way better than most Indian restaurants that are more expensive than it.

I had butter chicken and samosas. Very very good. Ive never had bad butter chicken before, but this place was above average and if I am ever in the area again I would choose this place over another Indian restaurant. The restaurant also looked fairly modern and was nice and clean.

The best Indian food in the town not too spicy and a perfect blend of all the spices. Their buffet is open now on Saturday and Sunday from 5pm to 8pm . I am really impressed with their customer service . Toni always takes care of my order and the owner is super nice. Their whole staff is super friendly. 5/5 for food and service

It s not fancy but the flavours are decent, portions are large, and the price can t be beat. Some may find it a bit salty but that s how I like it. Take out service seems to be among the fastest in Ladner

I liked their samosas as they werent too heavy and over fried but their eggplant bhartha was very salty and oily and the lamb palak was tough. Butter.chiicken kids liked but we can make that.ourselves. Not a repeat in my book.

Not really impressed with their food. The mixed veg curry was so greast I was spooning off the oil and the vegetables are pretty much a Costco freezer mix veg pack with some paneer thrown in. I also got a veg briyani and its the same Costco freezer mix. Their flavours are good, though, and they have appropriate spice levels for a Canadian palate.

Its a small place with fair prices. The food was very tasty and was good quality. Service was friendly and the meals came out quickly. I will return.

Our Air-B&B host dropped us at the Ladner Shopping Centre for some shopping on the day we checked in to her home in Vancouver. Here we found this nice Indian restaurant called Doon Express from where we picked up a take away lunch of Veg Korma and Dal (pulses in an Indian gravy), along with some Rotis (Indian flatbread made in a tandoori oven). We liked the taste of the food so much that we returned in the evening to get another dish, Bhendi Masala (Okra in spices), with some more Rotis for dinner. The food was mildly spiced and really tasty and we enjoyed our meals. We placed the dinner order by phone and they had it ready when we went to pick it up after an hour. Prices were very reasonable and cheaper than most other restaurants in the area for a filling meal.

My go to place when I have a taste for Indian. I travel in from Richmond. Thats saying a lot as Richmond has its own good Indian restaurants, Ginger and Tandoori Kona. You wont be disappointed!

This is where we get our butter chicken fix! The lunch buffet comes well-equipped with a selection of different types of rice, tandoori chicken, chili chicken, butter chicken, beef curry, regular and garlic naan, and more. There was a good variety of spicy, mild, and non-spicy options, and the salad bar can help bring down the heat in case you make the wrong choice! The staff was friendly and helpful but if there was one thing I had to pick on, it would be the fact they charged our 8-year-old the full price of $14 for the buffet.

I was trying to call the restaurant and order some food at 8.10 p.m. I know that it was late, but if you guys dont accept orders 20 or 30 minutes before closing time at least accept the call and just tell the customer that we cant accept orders now. It is very disappointing and rude not to accept the calls.

Real Indian food, cooked with lobe everytime my wife and I go. Once a month treat for fish Pakora, Lamb Currie etc.

Food is pretty good, but there is only one girl who answers the phone an works the register. She is rude, slow, impolite. I literally don t want to eat here anymore just because of the way she treats me ... Good helps hard to find but they need someone new over there !!!!

Tried this place back when it first opened and I wasnt crazy about the dishes I had. Recently gave it another try a couple weeks ago and then again last night, DELICIOUS. They must have made some improvements because it was so good since they first opened. Highly recommend the butter chicken, chicka tikka masala and the chicken korma. Of course the garlic naan is also amazing. We ordered pick up and were not disappointed.

Finally an authentic Indian restaurant right here in Ladner!!! The food we ordered was absolutely delish. Definitely will be going back again and again. My first time at this new eatery in Ladner and we lucked out in being there for their $14 lunch buffet. The selection was great (beef curry, butter chicken, chili fish, a few vegetarian curries, pakoras, dessert and a very nice salad bar selection) and the restaurant was very clean. A really good value and deliciously prepared food!

Went and tried that Doon Express last night and I gotta say that it was quite disappointing. I got the chicken vindaloo which is meant to be a spicy dish in a thick tomato based sauce, what I got was a few pieces of chicken in what had the taste and consistency of runny tomato soup, the meal wasnt even spicy in the slightest. The garlic naan was bland and flavourless, and I had got the rice with veggies which was very much underwhelming as well. All in all the food lacked flavor, spice, and was a disservice to what good or even half decent Indian food is meant to be.

Yum yum yum! We got office catering for lunch yesterday from this yesterday and it was amazing! The meat was still juicy and not over cooked like most Indian. The pakoras, mango chutney and samosas were to die for. All at a very reasonable price. I still have people in my office asking where the Indian food came from. Will definitely order again.

Lunch at Doon Express was very good, and could be 5 stars if rice was included (which the takeout menu says it is). I went with my butter chicken loving son, with a Groupon, a few weeks ago. The Groupon wasnt allowed to be used for the buffet, so we ordered from the menu: butter chicken, chicken korma, and both plain and garlic naan. He also had a mango lassi. We both enjoyed everything - the butter chicken was delicious and had an adequate amount of both meat and sauce, and the korma was heavenly, eaten with our naan, but seriously, why no rice?

Great taste, good portions, reasonable prices and they even have a kids menu with food any kid would eat. The samosas were super crispy and flavorful. Service was friendly and quick which is expected given there are not a lot of tables to serve. Will 100% return.

Been here twice now. Love the butter chicken with garlic naan. The butter chicken is rich and creamy! havent tried anything else though.

We went here on a Groupon and WOW! The Prawn Pakora was AMAZing! 10 huge perfectly cooked prawns deep fried in chickpea batter but not greasy at all. Butter chicken to dream about. And the nan... oh my...
