Was excited to visit this place. The decor was awesome and I loved the antique shop attached to it. Every surface was decorated in memorabilia and collectibles and tea accoutrement. Unfortunately I was sorely disappointed by the food and fare. Despite being a Tea Room (says so in the name!) they did not have a tea menu. Instead, they just had a pile of tea boxes on a sideboard that you could find in any old grocery store. You don’t go to an English tea room just to have red rose and Twinings. I ordered a scone with Devonshire cream with my tea. Despite the menu specifically stating Devonshire cream, it was definitely regular whipped cream out of a can. Would not recommend this place and would not come again unfortunately, although I had high hopes.
Great atmosphere, welcoming staff, tasty food! Really loved our visit here!
Wonderful food, attentive servers and a decor from our grandparents' day. Unique and exquisite. Don't miss the desserts, the scones are heavenly!
The chocolate cake is amazing. I almost didn’t want to order it because it’s gluten free and I thought that would make it less enjoyable but I couldn’t even tell. It was delicious! The chai tea was spectacular also. My mum had the scone with cream and preserve which was very delicious as well. My dad got a beer so he was happy! The service was good. The only problem we had was when we first arrived 5 minutes early for our reservation they had us wait 35 minutes to be seated. It was not a good first impression for me but my mum assured me it was worth the wait, and it totally was!! I didn’t want to knock stars off for the bad experience being seated because I think it was a one-off because of a large group taking up all the tables. Regardless they should have at least let us know it would be a while. It felt like forever waiting in the antique shop next door, not knowing how much longer. Anyway overall this place is excellent and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a nice tea and dessert in a very well decorated interesting tea house. Love it!
Everything was so delicious...we had to come home for a nap before grocery shopping lol. Family run, very neat, clean, very cozy. Friendly staff and the scones 🧡 knocked us out! Definitely will visit again
Gosh what a lovely place! Everything was delicious and they really care about presentation; even adorning plates with fresh flowers. Our 5 year old loved the children tea and really appreciated everything scaled down to his size. Picalilli is amazing! I wish I could get the recipe! Obviously a local gem as it was super busy even on a Wednesday afternoon. Recommend reservations ☺️
I loved the salon/store a lot. Many many tea cups and tea pots displayed everywhere in the store. The paintings of queens on the wall, antique piano at the corner of the tea room, and many more details throughout the place. Each table had a small book to read while waiting for the meal, which my family actually enjoyed. The meal was good too, and decently priced considering afternoon teas are usually overpriced everywhere. The service was great. My husband and my son decided to split a sandwich, and they plated half of the meal in each plates. There’s an antique store connected to the tea salon, where I found a big collection of my favourite blue flow plate!! I’ll definitely come back when I’m in the area. Additional review: During my second visit, I enjoyed a delicious egg salad sandwich.
What a gem! The service is amazing and the food is incredible! Best egg salad I’ve ever had. Worth the drive. The decor is is an eye full! You could spend hours just looking at all the beautiful tea pots and paintings.
Parking: Reservation is a must. Always full house. Kid-friendliness: High chairs available upon request. Food : 5/5 |
Just a delightful locale with wonderful meals served by lovely ladies. Five stars across the board for me. Plan for a couple of hours - you cannot rush this experience.
Always a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Loved the soup, egg salad sandwich and sticky toffee pudding!!
Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly Food
We came across this lovely lunch venue by accident and had such a great experience here. Its a busy and well known place, beautifully decorated and absolutely fantastic food, so well prepared and presented and well priced. We would absolutely visit again and again if we are going by Deseronto. Apparently people travelling from Toronto to Montreal or Ottawa often stop in. Recommended calling for a reservation. The attached antique store is so nicely presented. We spent a few hours of delightful time for lunch and shopping. The restaurant is decorated in fine Victorian style, and offers High Tea as well as a delicious menu, including dessert and your own pot of tea to sip. We learned of the history of the space and business while visiting. Highly Recommended from us!
So yummy!! Save room for dessert!!
We came back a yr later, and never disappoints The aftermath tea plate was exceptional Food
We loved the decor with its collection of period China, its collection of royal family pictures, and memorabilia. The service was attentive without being intrusive. The food variety and quality was excellent, along with the presentation. We totally enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you.
Wonderful place to have an afternoon tea or lunch. The atmosphere is amazing its like going back in time. Love the tea room. Nice place to take friends too.
What a treat. Our first visit was in early spring and it was not busy at all. First impress was wow ! British memorabilia everywhere especially our beloved Queen Elizabeth. I was hooked and everything got better from that point on! Tea tray was beautiful made and tasted marvellous. Fancy china tea cups and plates, and a wide variety of teas to choose from. Unfortunately with tourist season upon us it is getting busier and busier, I would suggest reservations!
Great food and the coconut pie so good.
Perfect English Tea Room
We made a reservation for afternoon tea and waited nearly an hour for our food. We left as our tea was gone and we still didn t have our food. No one checked on us either. Room was very noisy. Very bad experience. Would NOT recommend
A must to do bucket list experience. Tea and food were amazing. The scone at the end is to die for!
The atmosphere was very unique. The service and food was excellent. The coconut cream pie is awsome. Definitely recommend checking it out.
Amazing Mothers Day afternoon tea!! Great selection of sandwiches, sweet treats and the scones were absolutely divine!.Worth the trip to Deseronto, definitely returning!
Just an amazing experience. The scones are superb, the atmosphere unique and the staff is just wonderful. Highly recommended.
I loved the place. The food was excellent and so was the service.
Such a great experience! The food is delicious and the staff is so friendly, cant wait to go back.
This was such a find! The restaurant itself is a feast for the eyes - lots of attention to detail and so many interesting teapots to look at! The food was excellent and the people we interacted with were great. This will definitely warrant more visits and is worth the drive from Kingston.
Absolutely love this place ! Great food, friendly staff and owners are on site and very friendly and interesting to chat with Been 3 times and always thrilled. A must for anyone looking for a lovely lunch in prince Edward County! The desserts are awesome and you can call ahead and order extra to go Make sure you have a reservation the place is always busy!!
Daughter and grandmother attended together for High Tea. Lovely assortment of sandwiches that they continue to rave about, amazing scone and great service.
This was our first time at OConnors and we were not disappointed. Right from the individual tea pots, homemade bread for the delicious sandwiches to the most amazing coconut cream pie we have ever tasted. This place is a hidden gem. Seriously the crust maker of the pie deserves the Order of Canada. Everyone needs to experience this place.
Delightful place for lunch. The staff are lovely, friendly, helpful and attentive. The food is superb esp coconut cream pie. Not a place for a quick lunch. A place to Saveur. The decor is really nice.
High tea was amazing. The experience was delicious and very reasonably priced, the tea room was beautiful, & the workers were extremely kind and friendly. Will definitely be back!
We had high tea which was good. But the tea came right away and the food forty minutes later. Even though we were on time and had made a reservation. So the tea was cold when we the food arrived. Server could have had some more experience also. The food was adequate but not in a hurry to go back. We were trying to commemorate a death and it didnt go as we liked.
Loved this place. Love atmosphere and food was lovely
First time there and I would go back again tomorrow if they were opened. The service was fabulous- excellent selection of tea - everyone got there own pot - Soup (cabbage n carrots) so yummy - roast beef sandwich delicious and the Key Lime pie was the best I have ever had will go back again and spend more time in the antique store
Great ambiance, great food, great service, great presentation, worth every penny. Advisable to make a reservation a couple of weeks ahead at least. Cant say enough The OConner is the real deal and not at all pretentious!
Was a great experience. Food was yummy
Lovely food, great wait staff. Decor is fascinating
Cutest place!! Such a good experience and great food. Will definitely be back.
Beautiful restaurant, love the decor and the adjoining antique store. Great service from the staff - so warm & friendly. I highly recommend their afternoon tea!
More than just a pleasant spot for tea dates; The OConnor House is a unique concept Cafe that offers a little excursion back in time for the afternoon. The grand old house, charming victorian country decor, coffin ceilings and fine bone China really sets a cozy, romantic mood that satisfied my love of charming old stuff. It was a fun surprise to see what teapot the server brought out, as they have quite the collection! As my grandma always says, tea simply tastes better served in real china! This is the perfect place to take your grandma or kids out for a proper English tea time! Oh, and the antique shop adjoining the store is a treasure trove to wander around and digest your meal afterwards. Parking: Large parking lot so its not a far walk for seniors! Kid-friendliness: The menu offers this adorable little afternoon tea plate for kids, complete with a mini pot of tea, choice of sandwich and a brownie! Perfect for kids.
I gave it a 4 star only because it was too pricey for the amount given
First time there and it was spectacular food and atmosphere was so amazing
Outstanding atmosphere, friendly staff. Excellent service. We relaxed, took our time as a family, we werent rushed.
lovely place and lovely food.
This beautiful, classy, fancy, dancy, place reminds me and brings me back to my time in England dining with the royal family. The food was wonderful as well as the service.
Awesome cute little tea room! Lovely staff and delicious scones
Lovely tea house. Quite busy but the atmosphere was still nice. Service was ok. Busy staff can sometimes be less personable if they re run off their feet. Food was delicious!
A wonderful lunch experience.
A very quaint spot with a very English atmosphere. Staff and food were great!
I always enjoy bringing friends and family to The OConnor House when they are visiting from out of town. It is always a crowd pleaser! Best to make a reservation if you have more than 2 people or are going on a Friday or Saturday.
What a wonderful experience.... My friends and I had afternoon tea it took me back to being in England. Top notch service and delicious tea sandwiches and tea.... Its a beautiful spot and shop if you are looking for a little something Definitely, we will return back.
Great experience
Beyond our expectations! Pictures on website do not do justice to how lovely the tea room is, or how amazing the food, and the food presentation are! Service is top notch! A definite must try! Parking: Parking close to the tea room can fill up quickly, but, always a spot along the street in either direction.
Went for lunch here today. Haven t been for years. The food and atmosphere is great. Best meal I ve had in awhile.
We had reservations and after waiting 45 minutes to be seated, we left. Went somewhere else
What a lovely experience! Food was delicious: cabbage and potato soup was very flavourful and the curried chicken salad sandwich was just so tasty. The sticky toffee pudding was enjoyed by many at our table and pronounced sweet comforting deliciousness. The decor is charming, and the server, although very busy, was friendly and courteous. Cant wait to return
What a lovely place! I took two kiddos here today for a special high tea outing, and we all absolutely loved it. The kids dressed themselves up and were made to feel beautiful by the staff and patrons, and were given their own tiny tea pots and cups. The food was excellent as well, but I am so so impressed by the treatment from the staff. :)
Lack of staff caused us to not get our food for an hour and a half, although the food tasted very good. Food
We didnt eat here. We needed to make a reservation, even in October
Timing of service had an opportunity for improvement.
Very nice.
Great food and the service is terrific
Popped in for some takeout today. Delicious as usual. The coconut cream pie is over the moon. My favorite.
I highly recommended ~ amazing food and friendly staff. My family really enjoy them.
My daughter (8) and I went out for tea and lunch and had a truly wonderful time at this little gem in deseronto.
What a beautiful place! Everything is pretty and delicious. The staff super friendly
Lovely tearoom

Great food and service . Quaint little place .
Best English tea house we ve been to! And scones are amazing!
Delicious
Very very good experience both times I ve been there. Dined in both times.
Lovely spot for English tea and other English dishes like ploughmans lunch. Great fun for kids and adults. We each got our own unique teapot to match our teas! Vegetarian options: Accommodated our vegetarians well Parking: Easy street parking Kid-friendliness: Kids tea was so reasonably priced
Great English experience. We shared several tiers of sandwiches, fruit, and a strawberry/cream scone, along with a pot of Earl Grey tea
Delicious food and dessert. Good service
Great food and great service!
Delicious food in a Victorian style.
Loved the meal and the service. Very enjoyable afternoon. The soup was fantastic.
The Rare Roast Roast Beef sandwich is unbelievably good, as are the Daily Soups! The Coconut Cream Pie is to die for! My wife and I are eager to drive 1.0+ hours from Lakeport to Deseronto to enjoy this Delicious Food! Michael has worked Magic in the Kitchen for Many Years! I highly recommend this Establishment to everyone who loves a Good Meal!
perfect tea house experience.
Hidden Gem I enjoyed tea and delicious scone . Atmosphere was awesome . Food : 5/5
I wish i took pics ! This place is beautiful inside but the deserts are to die for ! The service was fantastic and to top it off the a antique market thats attached to the tea room. The lady that runs this side of the store is a wealth of info about the whole area great lady to talk too !
What a great little place, absolutely loved the entire experience. Service was friendly and attentive, food was delicious and the dessert menu is a must try. Food
Went based on reviews. This was far less than a 4.8 experience. Ive gone to high teas elsewhere and this was the worst one yet. For 28/per person, for high tea the tea isnt even loose leaf rather common brands at a grocery store in tea bags. The pictures show buns but we didnt have any. We received maybe max two sandwiches (Crist removed) that consisted of three pieces of cucumber cream cheese, three small pieces of ham type nibbles, and two thin slices of egg salad pastry, three cherry tomatoes, four thinly sliced pieces of cucumber, three small half pieces of cantaloupe, four raspberries, a tablespoon and a half of chutney. The scone was tasty, however, more like cake. The Devon cream was real whip cream. Not authentic Devon cream based on experience. You could see more of plate then food. The upholstery/ material of the chairs is in dire need of shampooing. To be honest would like my money back. It is cheaper to get a sandwich and salad then order the scone. Youll receive way more food for a better price. Not impressed. Felt ripped off. Wish I had of taken a picture!!
A wonderful, cozy atmosphere with exceptional food. Highly recommended.
Absolutely the most darling little tea shop. Food made from scratch. Atmosphere warm and welcoming. I will promote and recommed to all.
Love this tea room, delicious sandwiches and desserts plus an antique shop is attached. Highly recommended!
Food and service we e both amazing. Will definitely be back again.
Always a treat
This is a classy place. Like an old fashioned tea room where great food is served! Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. I had been there the week before and when I walked in a week later, the waitress remembered that was Carole with an e Definitely a place for a good lunch, especially the Balmoral Salmon.
Super cute place. Love the decor and staff uniforms
So happy I found this place! We got takeout.... ploughmans lunch and some scones. Beautiful presentation. Everything tasted great. Loved all the home made jam, relish and chutney. A perfect picnic, such a treat. The eat-in space is beautiful....hope to be able to come back for a proper high tea!
One of the best English high teas. Being British reminds me so much of home
Such a great choice for my birthday lunch!! The mom and daughter team were so lovely and the food was great (definitely try the sticky toffee pudding)
Great food and we will return
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch today! Food was terrific and let me tell you I m hard to please. The service friendly and thoughtful! Make sure you save room for the coconut cream pie!
Beautiful place and the food was outstanding. Highly recommend this tea room.
Absolutely fabulous place for afternoon tea/ refreshments. It was our first time there, and it was a great experience. The food was so fresh, and the ladies were so nice...definitely be back.
Lovely place to spend an afternoon. Delightful decor, fabulous staff. Indoor & outdoor seating. The afternoon tea is quite filling. I brought my 9y.o. daughter & she loved it as well
Wonderful atmosphere, the scones were delicious!
This a beautiful spot to visit! And a fabulous experience! A must to add to your list!
Great food, service , atmosphere. The food is freshly prepared the menu offers a wide variety. The antique store next door has a lot of really unique items. Highly recommend
We had a family tea here. My daughters loved the tea room, the sandwiches were delicious and the scones were out of this world.
My two friends and I happened upon The OConnor House while on a 5 day motorcycle trip though eastern Ontario and western Quebec in mid June. We were not expecting an English Tea Room when we drove by and decided to stop for lunch. It turned out to be one of the highlights our trip. I am terrible with names so I can not remember the mothers or the daughters name, but the experience was great. The food was even better, all with a cold Wellington Brewery beer to wash it down. I highly recommend the Coronation Chicken Salad Sandwich. The mushroom soup was also fantastic. All in all, a great experience. Thanks.
This is a MUST visit if you are coming to Deseronto or passing by. I d drive from Toronto just to have my tea and scones here
Amazing service,Amazing Staff
Homemade cooking..desserts are delicious...
The BEST Tea Room in Quinte area Love their soups, and their Egg Salad sandwich and warm scone... delicious. A wonderful experience inside the restaurant... and in the warm months, their treed back yard is nice and shaded and comfortable. Just delightful.
Lovely place and now with a summer patio too! Great menu, lots to look at including the adjoining antique shop. My friend and I go for tea several times a year.
A lovely tea room with beautiful décor indeed! I made reservations for September 3 and brought 3 hungry little girls (2 - 6 year olds and a 9 year old) and the mother of 2 of them. We were kept waiting for over half an hour before our table was free. A group of ladies were in no hurry to leave. Perhaps people should be given a time limit and told there is another reservation. I believe the expected time frame is about an hour and a half, but these ladies were there for over 2 hours. Understandably, we were all getting impatient and VERY hungry. The staff is great and the service is excellent. Great selection of teas, even for little girls.
Great atmosphere
I love their sticky pudding! A lovely little place for a meal or tea. The food is always good and the staff very pleasant.
A nice tea room with a large selection of teas. It was a fun experience
Excellent food and service
Great food and wide variety of tea and the desserts are delicious!
High tea was very good. Nice athmosphere, great service, beautiful antique store on site.
This is such a cute out of the ordinary special place!
The service was nice, the food was good.
This place has a lot of characteristics and strong theme that creat a very unique dining experience. There are lot of tea options (obviously!) abd the strawberry shortcake is sooo good! One thing I personally think that the restaurant can improve is to change or cover the kitchen better. They have put so much effort in the decoration down to their dressing and service, yet having the modern kitchen visible really kill the vibe.
On the first day of Ontario Stage 3 opening I thoroughly enjoyed a meal at this lovely tea room! The adherence to cleanliness and sanitation was excellent. Best of all the food was delicious and very attractively presented. I certainly will go again!
Great place good pie.
Had a lovely lunch here
Awesome Food
Incredible home made food! The entire experience was a lot of fun and we cant say enough about the scones... oh my goodness theyre incredible! Well be back for sure!
Birthday lunch for a friend was awesome!!
Lovely atmosphere..good food and service
Great lunch. Beautiful restaurant.
Today was my second time at The OConnor house. Food is always fresh and delicious. Always a pleasant visit when I come here.
Fantastic lunch with great staff. A special place in Deseronto well worth the visit!
Great tasty food. Wait staff was fantastic..
What a wonderful place to share memories with good friends. Over a wonderful lunch time menu. In very whimsical surroundings. The food, the presentation, the service are all incredible If you dont stop by, you are missing out
Absolutely fantastic, great food, beautifully decorated and good friendly service. All 4 of us enjoyed it very much
Excellent food and service.
Like stepping back in time
Friendly service. Great food!
Really nice British feel... Food was awesome
The food was excellent, not one complaint.. even the service was lovely... I will go back at the drop of a hat....speaking of hats lol the servers all wore fascinators...which added to the atmosphere..
Enjoyed the loveliest lunch with my family today. There is so much to look at here with the antique shop and all of the pretty things in the restaurant. The roast beef sandwich was so fresh with the home made bread. But the star of the show was my scone with Devonshire cream! Yum, you gotta eat here!!!
Excellent
What a lovely place for lunch! Food was fantastic, creative and presented beautifully. Despite having a packed house (on a Wednesday!?), the service was excellent: timely, friendly and accommodating. Definitely going back soon!
Fabulous place and people.
Delicious cute place
Went for a Christmas Luncheon today. I had quiche with a side salad, and sticky toffee pudding for dessert, it was delicious. Staff is amazing. It was packed today, so it was a bit of a wait for food to come out, but the wait was well worth it. Suggest you get reservations. If you like to dress for tea, with the hats and all.... this is the place to step back in time and do it.
Just a lovely place to eat. The food was delicious
It looks like a victorian tea house inside! The Christmas decorations were lovely. The food is exceptional! Great experience for our group of 7!
Delightful and intriguing, not to mention the most delicious home cooked sandwiches and desserts. When I need a pick-me-up this is where I go. Wish that it was closer to me but well worth the drive.
The service was excellent and the Tea service was wonderful.
The atmosphere is beautiful and quaint, the food is beyond incredible. We stop here every time were nearby!
Great place to pick up China and glass ware
Everything was excellent! And the staff were quite nice even after I clumsily leaned on the table and knocked over a sugar bowl, loudly smashing it to bits.
Coconut cream pie is probably the best Ive ever had.
Excellent as always one of my favorite places
Fresh delicious food in lovely decor. Great service - and attached to a mice antique store. Nice people.
The corned beef sandwich was delicious, very fancy and great tea selection. Super friendly service!
Food is ALWAYS excellent! Service is great. Nice atmosphere.
Great food and the decor is so fun!
Save room for dessert... The Key Lime Pie or the Sticky Toffee Pudding are excellent
Very nice experience....
Good place gorgeous a break
Lovely atmosphere! The menu is very tasty and there is something for everyone.
Very busy, lovely atmosphere, excellent food, lovely presentation, clean and attentive to detail, a little on the expensive side but not out of reach as a treat. Staff are friendly and seem to be happy there.
This place is truly a diamond in the rough. I could have spent hours looking at all the detailed decor. The food was authentic and unbelievably yummy. What an amazing experience.
Love when I go there as there soups are home made and delicious and love the chocolate torte amazing and gluten free also love the atmospher and the family that works there always a pleasure going there
I visited with my wife and her parents, typically in this sort of place I cant find anything I really want to eat on the menu and Im not a tea drinker so I was apprehensive to go although outnumbered. However there was plenty for me to choose from in the menu but I went with the special, a coronation chicken sandwich which was excellent on the best bread I have ever tasted.
Unique tea room, come prepared to pay for the interest and bring someone to visit with. Antique items of interest, nice service!
