Authentic caribbean dishes / Cuisine authentique des Caraibes
Ordered doubles and rice for takeout. Saw reviews saying it was good. They have their prices doubled on Uber eats. Secondly, I ordered two doubles and they sent one. Thirdly, both the doubles and rice were stale. Double was rock hard, Chana was sour. And when I opened the rice it smelled off immediately. The worst caribbean food I’ve tried in Montreal.
The food was amazing. The lady at the cashier was very nice and the food was served to us very hot and it smelled amazing. I had curried goat with rice and it had salad as well. I highly recommend it.
A must go if you love roti! The goat curry roti with a little hot sauce was superb. The service was hospitable and personable. It felt like a little bit of the Caribbean in chilly Montreal. I will definitely be going back.
What a pleasure meeting Connie at the cash, chef Dwight, and Debra, who works in the kitchen. Everything is made in-house, with the exception of the patties that are flaky and sweet and inside stuffed with quality filling, the paties are outsourced made due to kitchen capacity, but patties are way better than other popular restaurants. The roties are MEGA HUGE and truly tasty and plenty filling. Great job and worth your visit. Try them.
Came here for lunch today with my wife and daughter. We had a goat roti, doubles with chicken, a chicken patty and a couple of sodas. The food was tasty, prices very reasonable and the staff were very friendly. Can't go wrong with this place. It's going to be our go-to spot for caribbean food from now on.
Very nice place and the food is great! Hard to find carribean food, and halal meat. The goatcurry is on point, coleslaw /salad is good, rice well made and im looking forward to trying other dishes. The Owner is very friendly, hospitable, and welcoming. Great local hidden spot and glad I came across it. Definitely recommend if you're looking to try some Caribbean food with a friend or family.
This place feels like a hug from the inside out. Lovely and welcoming staff. Very friendly place. Like Jamaica in spirig
The roties and jerked chicken are delicious! Good amount of heat, and the flavor is on point! Love that they moved to Dollard-des-Ormeaux. Must try! :)
The service is fantastic! The food is off-the-charts! I bet they will remember my comment that I made haha atmosphere is very nice.
Excellent food Excellent Staff Food
Great little place hidden away. Im not connoisseur of Caribbean food, but I really enjoyed the goat roti!
Very good and clean
Excellent food and great service. The jerk chicken and roti are so good and dont let me forget the amazing oxtail that is superb. Highly recommend it.
I eat there every day oxtail and rice strongly recommended beef patties ,goat roti and three soups , staff is amazing glad to have you in he area
Overall amazing place Kid-friendliness: Amazing attention to children Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
The food was absolutely delicious, the oxtail and the beef patties were a highlight. The staff was SOOOO sweet, beyond kind.
Hands down best food I have ever had so glad I discovered it!
Their roties are the best.
I was thrilled andexcited to learn they had a west island location. I used to go to theCDN location whenever possible but can t anymore with that big staircase outside I need wheelchair access these days.the roti from all of their locations is fantastic!zero I do miss going to the CDN location with the amazing reggae grooves always playing. If I m not mistaken, they used to have live reggae bands playing all the time back twhen I used to frequent back in the day n the 90 s
Boy do I miss the old Caribbean Curry House on Victoria. Their juicy chicken roti, full of flavor. This isnt that hard of a dish to make... Just stay away from breast meat, its too dry for roti. Also, the size!!! They dont need to be this big. The ones from the old Victoria Ave. restaurant were square not rectangle. I know you will claim to be using the old restaurants recipe but guess what, they didnt give you the recipe they were using. They were using leg meat and very little breast. Do some R&D, improve the flavor and texture, reduce the size to maintain profit margins if necessary. It not about quantity, its abou quality. I will give you an other try in a year or so. Good luck.
Delicious food warm and caring service. We do pick up orders here all the time. It s a family fave.
Great experience. Best Jamaican food in montreal
This place is truly a gem. Food is amazing, staff are so friendly, location is great and prices are good. Will definitely be coming back!
The roti dough lack flavour and is doughy. The filling has some flavour, but unfortunately has to be picked out of the roti. Rice and beans bland as I have ever tasted. The jerk chicken was dry and overcooked unfortunately. I think I got yesterday chicken possibly? The shrimp in the roti was microwaved. Not to mention when I ordered I was told 5 minutes . 40mins later I finally got my disappointment . I had just recently moved and hoped this location would be a replacement for Pimentos Cuisine des Caraibes. But fell way short of the mark. I will travel the extra 15 minutes next time.
Absolutely amazing food full of flavour and made with care. The staff are the best so nice and welcoming!
Delicious flaky patties. Amazing service. Will absolutely be returning.
Delicious and authentic! Loved the goat roti and the oxtail plate. Extremely friendly service. I highly recommend.
Great service that never fails.
I mean it .... Ive been to MULTIPLE caribbean joints in Montreal. This one is THE BEST. Its the absolute best jerk chiken plate Ive had in my life. Im going back for sure and I cant wait !
1st time there... amazing experience
Staff is very attentive, friendly, and welcoming. Ordered a shrimp roti for lunch and it was Delicious and Generous portion! Make sure to add on chickpeas! Very happy to have a place to get roti in the West Island and they are legit! Food
I had the Jamaican patties for the first time today and they were absolutely delicious! I ll definitely stop in to try the full menu next time I m around. The shop was super friendly too!
Naah brought home stew chicken and it was more like stew bone, especially after waiting for such a long time you would think to receive fresh food.
Very disappointed with this restaurant. Best experience at the one on Victoria. Sad excuse for the vegetarian menu. The roti and rice were lukewarm and bland. The patties were good though. Service was mediocre. The person at the checkout was stoned and made several errors in the order (missing items). I had to go back for half the order and she gave me extra rice as an apology which was appreciated. But, one of the guys in the back took the plates and removed the rice to give a single piece of plantain as the apologies... I was going to give it a second chance because mistakes happens, but when I saw him take away the rice and give me a piece of plantain, I understood that this restaurant laughs at its customers. Maybe I had too many expectations. My bad
Great food
Every time I come here this service is excellent. Friendly and accommodating people that know how to treat customers. Thats very rare these days. Also good quality food. Cant go wrong coming here. Thank you
Hands down best oxtail in West Island! Chef Dwight and his crew have such great service! We also recently ordered a big batch of their spicy beef and vegetable Jamaican patties for our school fest. They were such a hit!!! Vegetarian options: Vegetable Jamaican Patty
Great food, super friendly service. We ll be back.
Ive been going to the Curry House on Victoria for decades. So happy theres one out on the West Island now. Jerk chicken was very good, just as Id expect. A little on the pricey side though. Service was pleasant and friendly. Its counter service / fast food style, so Ill give it a 4 instead of 5 . Atmosphere is nice. Small place, but I think most people probably take out.
Beef patties are fantastic! $3 each is a bargain. Friendly service. Highly recommended.
Excellent food and excellent service
Well deserved 5 star establishment! Amazing food, Amazing Service. Highly recommend eating here, wether its to eat in or out. It aint easy finding a true gem like Caribbean Curry House!
I loved the Victoria location. I was super excited for the West Island location. The first time I went the food was amazing. The next time I tried the chicken roti and tasted like it was going off. ( stale) I m surprised I didn t get sick. . I tried the oxtail it was okay but cut up in such tiny pieces, no carrots or butter beans flavour is not authentic. I was in the mood for oxtail today. I bought the oxtail plate. The oxtail is cut up so small. It s a hazard to eat , the tiny minced bones will break your teeth and is also a choking hazard. The greasy slimy piece of plantain they served was disgusting. The coleslaw was smelly definitely old and was going off. ( totally inedible) Forget about the jerk chicken it s a disaster. Never ever again. If you are looking for authentic Jamaican/ Caribbean food this is not the place.
They never disappoint!!
Curry
Me and my husband went to this nice little restaurant for dinner.. plates of Roti beef and goats and Roti chicken... large portion very good... courteous service is what kindness Parking: big is plenty of room
Great food. Great people. I recomend and will be back
Thanks for accommodating the 4 of us today.
Had a huge order during their dinner time rush and they were great! Excellent customer service, generous, very friendly. Food so tasty.. worth the drive from Ottawa!
Excellent roties, friendly staff, clean kitchen. Grateful to have a long time CDN favorite available on the West Island
Great food, awesome atmosphere and very friendly staff. I absolutely recommend!!!
Very nice little place. Perfect if you like exotic and spicy dishes.
Not much there. Got a vege Pattie. Not impressed, sorry, I had high hopes since its a small family run business. Vegetarian options: Vege Pattie. Not impress
Absolutely delicious! Loved the ox tail!
If you crave great Caribbean food, visit and you will be happy.
Went there for the first time and the food is absolutely amazing! The chicken curry plate is a must try. The staff, especially connie are fantastic and provide a fun, warm atmosphere
I ordered Jerk chicken n oxtail and both had the same level of saltiness so salty I was forcing myself to eat but couldnt finish had to throw it out they need to stop with the extra saltyness its really unhealthy !!! I was really dissatisfied
Saw some reviews saying it s not as good as the CDN location. After one year in operation, I can affirm that it s 100% as good !! But be aware of their pepper sauce ! IT s HOT!!!!! Glad I don t have to endure Decarie to get GREAT roti!
the best Caribbean food in the west island!! The staff are super nice !
Authentic carribean food that tastes like my parents made it. Great service, the lady there is very open and friendly. Cozy atmosphere.
Got their goat doubles and they were simply amazing! Friendly customer service as well
Restaurant is clean, and staff is friendly and welcoming. Portions are generous. Homemade food very tasty. Loved it. Thank you. I ll be back. FOLLOW FOR MORE
We did takeout (which is never a good idea) but everything was wrapped nicely. All the food was very yummy: ackee and plaintain, and as others said the chicken roti is so delicious! The doubles were yummy but next time I ll eat in to get them fresh (wrapped in foil worked but eating them right after being made is best). Friendly service too!
Generous portions. Stand out items are the Patties, Stew Chicken and Rotis. People that work there love what they do and are super personable with everyone. Recommended dishes
Very disappointed, first time visiting this restaurant because I felt for some roti. Never again, ordered the goat roti for take out. And the same cashier who handle the money was the same one who prepared the food without gloves There was more potatoes than meat, the potatoes and the goat meat was two different yellow. Had about a third of the roti because it wasnt well seasoned... this was like 4:30pm and from 8pm that same night, I couldnt stop going to the toilet nonstop until the following day... Never again
Delicious food, im picky with how oxtail is made as my grandmothers was always the best! Oxtail was Delicious, patties were nice, and goat roti was nice too. temperature was good when I received my order. Glad we have a good Caribbean restaurant close by. Thank you for a wonderful meal.
Really good food Curry
Best Caribbean food in the city of Montreal! Can t go wrong with anything on their menu. Preferably, I love this DDO location over the one on Victoria. The customer service, food and the prices are unbeatable by far. They can also make it spicy to taste, which is fantastic! Honestly, keep up the great work. I ll keep driving to your location every 2 weeks for my semi-monthly Caribbean dose!
Amazing food and great service !
The Jamaican patties are great over here!!
Really solid lunch place, really nice and kind staff, food is fresh and tasty!
I have been eating at the original place and I can ensure that this place is nothing else than deception... Order a plate of curry goat, but its like I ordered only goat meat... 5 pieces of salad, a small amount of rice... And a curry got that have too much curry spice inside, so it tasted off. They didnt have oxtail as my first choice, so I feel they didnt prepare enough food, so they start to give less to ensure that they will keep up with the day. Its the first time I gave a review on Google, but the award was well deserved.
Vegetarian options: Vegetarian roti was very good Food
5 Stars for the food alone, but wow is it difficult to order from this place. Ive tried calling multiple times on multiple days (during business hours for the restaurant) nobody has ever picked up, the phone just rings and rings, no message, no voicemail, nothing! Id rather call in my pickup order then give money to UberEats, plus the UberEats app doesnt even let me order all the time, the restaurant is supposed to open at 11am on Fridays but I cant even use an App to order, and I cant call the app either. 5 Stars for the food and friendly staff inside the restaurant, but it is frustrating trying to place an order. Why even have a phone number if you dont pickup the phone or take messages???
Been going to Victoria Street location for 30yrs... glad to finally have one in West Island. Be brave... try the goat or mutton roti...delicious!!!
Super friendly. Walked in and walked out rather quickly. The food was excellent, super tender and flavourful. Portions were great. Will go back.
Warm welcome! Delicious food! Generous portions! Im going to tell all my friends about it!!!
We ordered a chicken and a goat roti. Since I usually love roties, I was really happy to find out that this restaurant opened on St-John s Blvd recently. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. Both roties were very dry and contained way too much curry spicing which overpowered the taste of the meat. It s really unfortunate since both the goat and chicken were of good quality and tender.
Good flavor
Does this restaurant still exist. Went to 2 different locations based on google and waze, with no success. Phone line straight to automated system
Delicious food
Recently opened, A must go to Amazing food and friendly staff. Highly recommend!
Stop whatever your doing and go get a goat roti from this place! Amazing service and food! Must try
The OG West Indian resto in Montreal (Cote de neiges area) This place is tried and true. Always good but the jerk is not like Jamaican jerk... Its more of a saucy jerk. I dont know about any other locations. Vegetarian options: They have veggie plats
The staff were very friendly. Very clean restaurant. The food was amazing, best oxtail Ive had. The portions were very generous. Would recommend this to my friends. Food : 5/5
I decided to try this location and give it a try , being from the Caribbean Im not new to Caribbean cuisine. Ordered 1 Curry Goat Roti,1- curry chicken plate and a curry goat plate. starting with the curry goat roti ...very expensive$$$ Had way to much potatoes taste was lacking and there was a fishy odour, roti was hard and chewy almost like cardboard. Got home with the rest of the food ,my wife had the Curry chicken plate again very expensive for what you get....plantain was limp and curry chicken looked off bland, I asked her if she liked it and she preferred other places we have tried. I had the curry goat plate and the fishy smell was very strong, like the curry chicken it was lacking flavour . I cant recommend this place bacuse its WAY TO EXPENSIVE for what you get.
Im really enjoying the tasty menu and the welcoming vibes of this immaculate, cosy corner of the West Island where service is both entertaining and prompt, and prices are very fair. Vegetarian options: I highly recommend the veggie roti, which has a generous portion of fresh and recognizable items, no lump of tofu!
Excellent service, the food tastes amazing!! Try the polori or the doubles, you wont regret it!
Was just the flavours I was looking for. Very generous serving size and cant beat their curry. Reminds me from time living in Jamaica.
Very friendly service and DELICIOUS food!
Previously, it was a sine qua non condition that I be accompanied. Now I have gained the ability to enjoy solo restaurant visits. The pleasure no longer lies only in sharing, but also in observing and communing with the environment around me. The coming and going of customers of all ages, some elegantly dressed, others wearing decidedly casual outfits, the reggae music enveloping our ears, and the cooks in black uniforms busy in their own culinary dance. Over the years, I have also learned to put my feelings into words. I would like to extend this ability to the description of food, in order to better account for my sensations. I wish I could say more than it was delicious, although that pretty much sums it up. It was a special culinary adventure, an intrusion into a dissimilar world. There is a beauty, a richness, in difference. I thank God and these fabulous ideas who have made it possible to create such interesting dishes as patty, roti and jerk chicken. The crumbly patty dough particularly appealed to me. The voluminous beef and goat roast, where the curry is savored to the fullest, provides a lot of pleasure in the mouth. As for the jerk chicken plate, the tender and well-seasoned meat did justice to this emblematic dish, although the rice and small salad did not leave as much of an impression. Wishing you long life and prosperity in the West Island. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian versions of the dishes Parking: Large number of places Kid-friendliness: In the sense that its not a formal restaurant, but its not a place with a lot of seating. We mainly come to get food to take away. Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level doors, not automatic
Best Ox Tail
So ...Patties are good...however presentations and service not so good. Will try it again. Food
They shook off the Jitters and got it going on! The food is top notch - Taste great, excellent ingredients and good portion. Highly recommend if looking for a hearty meal! welcome to the West Food : 5/5
Very good Patties and I am somewhat of a patty expert!
Friendly staff and great flavor!
Soup... Fire! Doubles... Fire! Oxtail... Fire! Roti... Fireeeeeeeeeee! My tastebuds are sooooo happy. Thank you for opening a spot in DDO. This girl from Laval will be backkkkkkk! :)
The new West-Island location lives up to its Victoria Avenue original . Fresh , fast , fairly priced . The chick pea and potato roti was welcome on this -20 winters day . Goat curry was fresh and full of flavor . Ask for spicy if you dare , pepper sauce made me smile as I wiped the sweat from under my nose. I ll be back for sure !
The meal from this resto made my bad week good. The doubles are tasty, the veggie roti is huge - and the hot sauce was boooomb! Definitely going back, very excited to see doubles on a menu in the west island! The order we placed was really big but they prepared it super fast with no errors. The person who took our order was so friendly too! A+
I love the original Caribbean Curry House on Victoria, so I was excited when this opened in the West Island. Unfortunately, the quality was not the same. The roti skin was dry and lacked any chick peas. Rice could have used more seasoning, beans and some scotch bonnet. The chicken curry was ok. But they could have filled up the roti with more of it.
Delicious Roti, fresh Pattie s. Best roti in Montreal. Thanks for coming to the West Island, no more long drives to Victoria.
The portion was descent and the oxtail was excellent. The prices were descent as well.
Disappointed Jerk chicken was dry had no flavor. Chicken roti once again no flavor. And very little filling. There are other Caribbean restaurants on the west island. That is a lot better than this establishment.
On my first order I was blown away. I picked up goat plate and it was beyond delicious. The curry was seasoned well, super flavorful, and the portion was generous. The rice was fluffy and well seasoned. 5/5 Then I went back to try their chicken roti and I was insanely disappointed and couldnt believe I got food from the same place. The rice was bland and undercooked, the roti skin was just dry, and the chicken and potato filling was just bland. No flavor what so ever. However the doubles and patties were fine. 1/5 Then finally, I wasnt planning on going back after that experience, but I gave them another chance and went back to get the goat plate again. This time around it was just prepared differently. No flavor what so ever, and the rice again super bland. However, again the doubles and patties were fine. I was beyond disappointed. 0/5
Delicious chicken roti. Nicely spiced. Didnt need extra hot sauce. Very generous size. Price was right too. Recommend to all.
Unfortunately I found the roti was not fresh and chic peas not cooked well. Disappointed
The food was okay, the flats were dry and cracking apart. But the curry and roti were good. Were not able to sit there and eat for some reason. Was not the best but it was definitely not the worst Ive ever had when it comes to roti
Roti was flavorful and, for me, perfectly spiced. A little heat let the taste through and I didnt need to add the hot sauce. Had Doubles for the first time. They were tasty but too much dough to have with the Roti. I will take them if I was having the jerk chicken or soup next time. Service was fast and personal. The portions are huge. Had a Patty last time and it was delicious. Prices are extremely reasonable.
Super friendly staff served us some excellent curry roti! Great food at very fair prices. I couldnt finish my curry roti, and usually I can eat quite a lot. Highly recommend this cute little place!
My family and I were so excited when we found out a location here in the West Island . But unfortunately, the quality was not the same. Portion, taste and quality of the Roti bread was just satisfactory. We still had to drive to the one on Victoria the next day just to compare... flawless! Hopefully, they just need some time to level up!
Youd never find this place unless you were looking. Roti was perfectly seasoned and the portion was huge. The minimalist serving container was a little hard to eat out of but I guess they mostly get takeaway orders
My Curry Goat roti was bursting with flavours. Had the right amount of spiciness and was enough to fill me up.
The staff are always pleasant. And the food is delicious
Great service, nice people, affordable prices and delicious.
Excellent roti.. excellent service.
The most amazing place to buy Caribbean food
I just had a mixed goat and chicken roti last night and was really disappointed with the roti skin/shell - it was super dry and hard - I threw it out and only ate the curry filling which was good. I was skeptical to begin with because the roti shells arent made at this location which means at best theyre made that morning at the Victoria location. I watched them assemble the roti and they had the roti shells being kept warm in the hot table which is clearly drying them out. Really nice, friendly and helpful staff but the food quality just wasnt there.
Nope! I did not like it at all!!! Gave it two stars for the service but the food was not good. Roti was not fresh, and goat was tasteless.
they have the greatest staff and the best food, always go there during work and they are amazing. everyone should go
Got the oxtail plate for my husband because all the reviews raved about it. He loved it, and said the flavour was amazing. The two people working there were also incredibly nice. No photo, food was eaten too quickly.
So happy Curry House came to the West Island! It was just as good as I remembered. Food outstanding and excellent customer service! Don t walk, run to this gem of a restaurant!
I feel ripped off. My bill was $70 bought a chicken roti (was ok), oxtail plate was disgusting (had 1 scoop of rice and all bones for oxtail). Bought a jerk chicken plate (again 1 scoop of rice and 3 pieces of chicken), and an oxtail side (full of bones and no meat). Very deceiving for the price i paid. Not happy about this. Not buying here again! What a rip off!!
Amazing!! Some of the best food I ve ever had. Tastes homemade, so fresh. The roti is spectacular and the ox tail sooo good. Treat yourself, try this place.
A good bunch of people who work there + a good quality product! The jerk chicken plate was very tasty, as well as the chicken patty. Absolutely zero complaints about the service. I will definitely spread the word :)
The Best Chicken Roti in the west island hands down. Delicious ...a must if you like goooood Roti....fair price for quality n quantity! Bon appétit!
Authentic and tasty. Friendly and warm atmosphere.
This is our monthly treat to ourselves. We crave these rotis. Yum; please do not change a thing! Parking: Lots of parking available
Stopped by to try this place out... Simply Amazing the food here... So far Ive tried the Jerk chicken, Ackee & Saltfish and the Roti, So Good, dont pass this great little jem up, Ill be back for more ... I stopped to try this place. . . Simply amazing the food here. . . So far I have tried the Jerk Chicken, Ackee & Saltfish and the Roti, So Good, dont pass up this great little gem, I will be back for more ...
Great portion sizes and great flavour!
Very tasty and filling. Felt very welcomed.
Incredible food! The chicken roti is phenomenal. Go!
First time trying this restaurant and it does not disappoint!!! I had the goat and chicken curry roti plate and it was super delicious! absolutely recommend! If you like to eat spicy food... I recommend getting the pepper sauce on the side! Best pepper sauce!! Loved every bite of my roti! Only thing i didnt like..too much potatoes in it. Next time I will try the goat curry plate with rice!
Amazing delicious and good customer service is what makes it 5 stars, what else do you need its perfect
Friendly staff, awesome flavors, great portions and located in the west island. What else could anyone ask for?
Having eaten at their original location, I can affirm that this location is far from the same level. Undercooked rice, overspiced goat curry (completely overpowered the taste of the meat), barely any salads. The chicken roti was ok but the dough was not fully cooked and hard on the edges and the chicken had a weird texture. The only decent item was the beef patty. For the real deal, go to their original location
First time in the new place, great job guys, same great tasting food!! Impressive
My husband had waited 17 years to have doubles again and we thank you!
