Southern inspired Bistro
Absolutely delicious food. Attended with a party of 6. The service was very attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meal but the standout items were the fried chicken and bourbon shrimp. Will have to come back and try their brunch.
Everything was very tasty. The Mac and Cheese has to be some of the best I’ve ever had.
First time here and not the last! The food was perfect. We had the fried chicken as an appetizer and enjoyed shrimps & grits as a main. The service was also impeccable. A bit on the slower side, but they seemed short staffed that day.
Wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Our server was exceptional with so much attention to detail while describing the menu and answering questions. The shrimp & grits were outstanding with the right amount of spiciness and the grits were soft and creamy. The beignets were prepared warm dusted with cinnamon sugar and a buttery caramel dipping sauce - Cafe du Monde, watch out! Thank you for an outstanding dining experience we will definitely return many more times this summer! Only drawback was that the indoor dining was kept on the colder side.Door to terrace was frequently opened allowing a sharp breeze of air into our direction.Would have loved to hear some New Orleans Jazz background music.
Nice little gem in DDO (West Island) serving Louisiana food. It's a New Orleans themed bistro and the food is consistently good. Fixed staples like Butter fried chicken and Shrimp & Grits are executed to perfection. Weekly specials like Oysters or lamb shank let's you try something new. Maybe come here to break a fast because you need do the full meal combo. The beignets (think Tiny Tim Dougnut ... but way better) is a must. Like most Bistro's in Montréal, coffee is solid and a Terrace is available when the weather is warm. Great Bistro if you're in the area
An amazing restaurant experience! Tremendous Southern style food with a wonderful New Orleans atmosphere. Our waiter was one of the best servers we have ever had. After he was done explaining the menu and specials we wanted to order one of everything. Food was absolutely delicious! We will be back!
The experience was a 10/10. From the food, to the service, the ambiance, everything was chef Kiss. We came here for the Valentine’s Day special and it was indeed special. The serves were wonderful. The atmosphere was super romantic. The food was amazing. The three course dinner experience was delicious and filling! From the special chef appetizer to to the main course, nothing missed a beat, and I’m a picky eater. I’m American and it was a pleasure finding some Southern American flare in Montreal. ❤️
This restaurant produced some of the best southern food I’ve ever had! The drinks were amazing, appetizers (esp. the fried chicken) were immaculate, entrees were tasty with large portions. The customer service was amazing! The waiters were extremely knowledgable, and answered every question we had. The head chef interacted with customers and was extremely welcoming. Ambiance, COZY! Wow wow wow. I will definitely be back soon.
I went for brunch on Sunday and I had never been there before. I had the southern breakfast and it was phenomenal! Absolutely recommend!
Extraordinary food! Great discovery.
Great food and super service.
Sooo good! Everything is tasty, and you know you are eating quality, and freshness! Upscale pricing but worth it for that special occasion! Everything from the fried chicken to the catfish and the braised beef. Top notch!
SO SO SO AMAZING! Get the shrimp and grits, it is a MUST! My boyfriend ordered the catfish and he loved it. The lobster mac and cheese was full of flavor, the service was warm and professional! The cocktails made me feel like I was down south. Add this resto to your list like NOW!
Amazing food and great service ! It was a beautiful experience. Thank you !
Exceptional and unique food with impecable service.
Always a great meal within a comfortable environment. Dietary restrictions: Nut and seafood allergies handled and respected. Food : 5/5 |
Wow ! The service is impeccable 12/10 well done to our server! The food is excellent!!! As a starter, the Sausage Gumbo is a fairly generous portion for 2 people. The sauce is incredible, tasty and the rice is excellent! Then, the shrimp Creoles Yum again here the sauce was exquisite! Jambolaya rice Excellent! The Shank with its accompaniment and sauce was also excellent! . The Cocktail was good and the wine The donuts were hot I only have good things to say about this restaurant! The atmosphere is excellent I highly recommend it! Cheers
Second time going, this time for brunch. It was a nice brunch, but menu not available online to know what you re getting. Menu also does not include lighter options that are on the healthier side, ex no omelettes or lighter fare. Fried chicken, fish tacos, briskette (which was a little too spicy for breakfast and the menu didn t indicate a spice level). More of a lunch than a brunch. The fried chicken was outstanding however and so was the French toast. Also very filling, unlike their dinner menu which serves up smaller portions. Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs to climb
Magnificent little intimate restaurant, with original cocktail and table creations. Everything is good. We recommend having several dishes and sharing. Gumbo and jambalaya at the top. Dont miss the desserts either. We find ourselves here as in the restaurants of the Vieux Carré in the N.O. Smiling, courteous and efficient service. With family, friends or as a couple. All good options. Fair prices. Highly recommend
Bistro Nolah has been a favorite of ours on the West Island for years, and it continues to impress us with every visit. The Louisiana-inspired dishes are a standout, full of bold flavors and unique twists that you wont find anywhere else. The quality and freshness of the ingredients are always top-notch, and the staff make you feel right at home with their warm and attentive service. This place is a true gem consistently delivering an exceptional dining experience. Highly recommend if youre craving something special!
Cramped and noisy. Mediocre food and outrageously overpriced for what they serve.
Great meal. I didn t call before hand to ask about their GF options on the menu and I was afraid I couldn t eat anything since there wasn t any suggestions or possible replacements. Our waiter Chris was quick to answer my questions regarding what could be offered. Thank you for checking back and forth with the kitchen, listening, double checking again, and being honest. I will definitely come back. The service was fantastic!!!
The food is delicious and the grits are to die for!!!
Love the ambiance, the food, and the service. Absolutely loved the experience.
Hidden gem! Amazing food, service and presentation, we loved it! Definately coming back with friends.
Great food and service! Would come again :)
A very nice discovery with a small terrace. Surprisingly good food. Amazing service. The place has its age, but apart from that, I have no complaints. Verdict : definitely give it a try.
Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Montreal. The boulettes jambalaya with jalapeño sauce as appetizer, shrimp and grits as a main, and *divine* bread pudding desert are a must. The banana cheesecake desert is a must try when they have it on the menu. Cocktails are perfection and the staff is lovely... cant recommend more!
Wow, everything was perfect! The shrimp and grits were incredible. The death by gumbo was amazing. All the appetizers were also incredible, drinks were perfect. The service was second to none. I highly recommend this restaurant, its really hard to beat.
My personal favourite restaurant in all of Montreal.
Great food
Delicious food, pleasant staff and relax environment. Great spot in West Island.
Hidden littles gem in the West Island. Excellent New Orleans cuisine, hidden little terrasse, very friendly service, varied menu, excellent cocktails. It is possible to sit at table or bar. Reservations recommended. Food : 5/5
Brunch with good friends! Always a great place to eat. Richard, Chris and their team never disappoint their clients!!
Great service, great food, excellent drinks. Very charming Terrace, perfect for a date.
Best food, perfectly seasoned and cooked! Yum
Disappointed by our brunch experience last Sunday. I understand staff shortages, but service was slow and inattentive to the point that we passed on dessert/coffee and someone from our group had to leave the table to directly engage our server who had ignored all previous requests. The food was not served to all of us at the same time, the potatoes were lukewarm and the poboy bun was over toasted and inedible. We dont go often and weve had good experiences in the past, so I guess this was just an off day.
I cant believe I just discovered this place. Incredible service and tastes. AMAZING. 5 stars accross the board !!!
My experience is memorable!! The service is impeccable, the service allowed us to feel comfortable and respectful. The shrimp are excellent, the fried chicken and the jambalaja croquettes are beyond exquisite!! You want to impress a woman, the parents-in-law or the mother-in-law EXCELLENT
Excellent food ever
The most delicious food! Great atmosphere and good service
1-Too long, more than 1 hour 30 minutes of waiting between the starter and the main course even if the restaurant was empty. 2-The menu is very poorly explained No specification of the ingredients used On the menu presented to you a real headache. Very very expensive For a bistro it costs $80 per person. 4-The food was not good at all and not representative of the European style. I really dont recommend it, its too spicy. 5-Only positive point the service was good even if the person who served us only spoke to us in English to explain a menu that was already difficult to understand.
Amazing food, my boyfriend & I came for brunch and we loved it! The vibe is super cute & cozy, the terrace is gorg!! Our server Gabriel was amazing! 100% recommend stopping by(:
Thank you for the welcome, our dishes were perfect, the terrace well appointed.
Amazing!
Absolutely loved everything about this place.
Ive been hearing nothing but great things about this place for a while and the ratings were quite high, but my level of disappointment, even higher. People claim its extremely authentic Cajun food, as do the people who work there; nothing could be further from the truth. Service was fine, atmosphere was okay as well, however, the food left much to be desired. We ordered three different appetizers consisting of the fried chicken, the gumbo, and the pork bellies. I cant say that any one of them had any kind of an authentic Cajun flavor, and the chicken wasnt even on par with PFK, which is just basic fast food. It was served with some type of a honey glaze and it wasnt tender, just overcooked and crusty. The pork bellies were nothing to write home about either, not great tasting and the texture left much to be desired. I had high hopes for the gumbo, but it had a strangely familiar flavor, anything but Cajun and anything but good. Finally, we ordered the brisket... and it was a huge disappointment...texture was fine, but thats about it, taste, just not there. The drinks were good, but we didnt go for that. Its not somewhere I would visit again. Too bad, because there are very few Cajun restaurants in this city and I was looking forward to a fantastic meal.
Top notch Been several times in the past ten years. Never disappointed Food : 5/5
Absolutely blown away by the quality of the food! From the moment we stepped into the venue the service from our waiter was outstanding, explaining the different dishes in great detail. The food is just in a different class by itself. Chef Richard truly makes every item on your plate mouthwatering good, let aside the presentation which is top notch. I can t remember having ever been so flabbergasted by a restaurant as by bistro Nola today. This place deserves a michelin star!
I went for dinner with my husband last night and wanted to try this restaurant for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised that there actually was a good number of options for gluten-free food as my husband cannot eat gluten. Overall, they do not have a massive menu selection to choose from, but in this case I think its quality over quantity (a very good thing) - the items they do have on the menu they can really focus on making sure it comes out with great quality: excellent presentation, flavor, etc. The alcoholic beverages (cocktails) are very pricy but do taste great and arent watered down. The overall ambiance of the place is cozy and the noise level is acceptable for a bar-restaurant. However, had I known better, I would not sit at the table which is directly under the AC unit again (it drips a lil bit of condensation) - that was the only minor issue I had with the whole experience (and kinda my fault for picking the spot before realizing about the AC dripping). Bistro Nolah - if you guys are reading this, maybe move that particular table a bit further out from the wall so the AC unit cannot drip on the table directly below it. The staff are friendly, welcoming, helpful in answering any questions we had about the food, attentive (checking if everything is to our liking, asking if we need/want anything else, etc. at reasonable intervals), and also bilingual which I appreciated (I do speak/understand a bit of basic French, but English is still my main language). We were provided with 1 bread roll per person with their special chipotle butter (? I think) and I got to enjoy both (I did feel a bit bad for my husband missing out). For appetizers, my husband got a creamy corn soup and I got the boneless fried chicken. The corn soup was creamy, savory and refreshing (I took a lil taste test) and the chicken was fried to perfection - tender and crispy with a nice sweet and mildly spicy sauce drizzled on it. For the main entrée, we both went for the Beef Short Ribs with mashed sweet potato and vegetables which we both enjoyed. For dessert, my husband got the gluten-free Chocolate Torte, and I went for another round of the boneless fried chicken as strange as that might be (Im trying to eat less sweets and the chicken was just too good for me to not to get seconds). I wanted to give my compliments/thanks to the chef(s) at the end because I was very impressed with how delicious everything was. We had an enjoyable evening here and would recommend this cozy lil bar-restaurant. Dietary restrictions: My husband cannot eat gluten but thankfully they do have a fair selection of gluten-free items available.
Food was amazing! Good service and atmosphere. Will return..
There are no words to describe our experience here tonight. Food was exceptional, service was impeccable, the atmosphere was welcoming!!! Do not hesitate to go and have a wonderful evening! Food
Our waiter, Chris, was fantastic! The food was out of this world.
Food is AMAZING and I worked here for years people are lovely
Exceptional brunch, praline bacon out of this world, fried chicken to salivate for, my personal faves cornbread and french toast!!!!
Delicious and excellent service! A west island treasure
Very satisfied very original
I went with my family for mothers day brunch. I cant wait to go back for dinner. If you go with kids, order the fruits chicken and French toast.
Great place with amazing food and service. Service is always great, very nice and knowledgeable people who can make arrangements for your food. Food itself is delicious, they always have different specials and the amount you get is definitely enough. Love this place!
I loved it!!! The server knew the menu pretty well and made some great suggestions. The food was fabulous, well seasoned. The vibe was nice. Definitely, I would want to come back UpDATE>>>>Back for BRUNCH and its still my fave spot in down!!! The Grits were my highlight so creamy so yummy so PERFECT. My only negative.... it was mad cold in the restaurant...the terasse is not up yet
Great food, service and ambiance. Some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. Shrimp Creole had moderate spice and was packed with flavour. The brisket was delicious, very nice sized portion. The service was great. Our waiter went through the menu with us since it was our first time. Good music, I recognized a lot of NOLA favourites like Dr John and Trombone Shorty.
Expensive. Did not agree with giving my visa no# for a reservation for 4 people.
What a wonderful experience! Can t wait to go back. Our waiter, Michael, was fabulous! Food is so good.
I finally made it here after years of wanting to try this place out. Fun menu, great wine list, warm and welcoming service and a stellar playlist. The menu was a mix of the chefs takes on New Orleans creole classics and some all around fun and innovative offerings. Its a great place to go for a gourmet night out. I wouldnt go here for authentic New Orleans cuisine, but aside from Popeyes red beans and rice, thats better homemade anyway. My favorites were the charbroiled oysters and the beignets. On a return trip Id be curious to try the fried chicken, bread pudding, and the Sazerac.
Love this place, great staff, excellent food, will go back
The food here is amazing. Even the grits were delicious and I m not usually a fan . Everything is a must try especially the shrimp creole. Be sure to try the chef features as they are always incredible. Food
The meals are delicious. The service is impeccable. A downside, plan to finish in 2 hours because you will be asked to leave to make way for the next ones.
My family and I attended brunch at Bistro Nolah on Sunday April 14th, 2024 and we were blown away. The food was outstanding, the service was top notch, the restaurant was beautiful and clean. Chef Richard showed us lots of love by visiting the table to ensure that we were happy with our meal. My mom and i had the French toast... the best we ever had. The bourbon sauce smooth, tasty, I can eat it everyday. My brother, daughter and nephew had the Le Richard ...loved it. I highly recommend everyone to visit Bistro Nola, it is definitely worth it.
Food and service are amazing. You gotta try the blackened catfish, its spicy but very delicious. We also tried the fried chicken and the shrimp, both were great. The only thing is the place is quite small, so it feels squeezed when dining in. I would go back though.
Whom ever has watched the movie my cousin Vinny knows very well it takes long to make good grits, the chef at Bistro Nolah knocked it out of the park!!! It was so yummy and creamy The staff were welcoming and explained everything on the menu especially how spicy dishes may be and also shared what they preferred on the menu. Cant wait to go back again!!!
*********Be warned. Went on Sunday for lunch, they only have brunch offered. No where on the website do I see it stating this. Went for food on their menu and was stuck with brunch/breakfast. Not impressed.
One of the best restaurants on the island. Intimate atmosphere, beautiful decor, and the food is incredible. Besides the specials that change regularly, the oven roasted oysters are a must try. Well done.
Outstanding cajun cuisine and service, a gem in our area! A little on the pricey side but I will go back to explore more of their menu.
Best grits ever. Attentive staff. Terrific shrimp and lobster. Tasty bread pudding with a delectable bourbon sauce.
The food is ok, but the prices are too high for the type of food offered.
Im a huge fan of Bistro Nolah. I go there every year for my birthday and its also my fave date night spot. The food is always great and the service (Mathew) is always 100% perfection. Thats why my latest experience is so disappointing. My husband and I have been trying to make a reservation online, there was enough space on a Saturday for two people and at multiple times. When it came time to place the reservation, the system didnt allow me to complete the reservation. There was nothing wrong with our credit cards to reserve the spot. The system kept showing that it couldnt get in touch with the restaurant system to secure our reservation. When my husband called Bistro Nolah to explain and book over the phone instead, he was given the runaround and to go back to OpenTable to place the reservation... which again didnt work! When I called, I was given the same runaround again, no doubt by the same person. She sounded annoyed on the phone and was unsympathetic to the situation and refused to reserve us a table over the phone. I understand restaurant policy, I used to work in restaurants and my family owned multiple restaurants. Surely exceptions can be made... I asked to speak to a manager who was busy when I called, so I left my name and number for a call back. Im still waiting for a call back This experience has tarnished my image of them. Im disappointed that both my husband and I have been given the runaround for an almost a week, havent heard back, cant reserve online and was given attitude over the phone. All I wanted was to celebrate my birthday at Bistro Nolah (like we do every year) and instead now I dont know when and if I will be going back. Im even sad to have to write this... UPDATE: Since I cant reply to the person below, who I feel completely dismissed my review... When we reserve via OpenTable, its under my husband name. You have my contact information, I left it with the woman I spoke to on the phone last week; which Im *still* waiting for a call back, and Ive been to your restaurant many times.
Food tastes amazing ! Kudos to Chris for the great service ! The other employees were great also ! Nice atmosphere! Will come back for sure !! Everything was good !!
Everything was good except the mac&cheese it was way too salty
We had shrimp etouffee and tuna steak, ordered the hush puppies, mac&cheese and fried chicken for the kids. Everything was great & flavourful, will definitely come again.
Very nice place, good service, delicious menu. The only thing I was missing is a good espresso. Unfortunately, there is no good coffee machine.
Amazing and staff was very helpful.
Amazing ,delicious from main course to dessert, great service.will be definitely going back !!
I could write an essay about how much I love this restaurant. Its my go to, hands down. Had a bad day? Go eat at Nolahs, youll feel better. Something special to celebrate? Go to Nolahs, youll always remember the delicious food and the professional and kind staff. Want to go somewhere you feel at home? Go to Nolahs, where you see the chefs preparing your meal, and you can thank them for their dedicated work on your way out. Just try Nolahs, its like traveling to New Orleans without leaving Montreal. Its perfect. Ive had everything on the menu, and I cant think of anything negative to say. Nothing! Ill stop here. Just try it! Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Everything was great, but the place is a bit small.
Our favorite restaurant in the West Island. We are loyal customers because of their fresh food and amazing service. You wont be disappointed.
Everything from the restaurant, service & food is perfect. I dont remember the last time I had such flavorful dishes at a restaurant in Montreal. I will definitely add this to my go to in the city.
Everything was absolutely delicious, I felt like I was in the United States! The very friendly waiter and the friendly atmosphere, I will go back!
My husband and I had such a wonderful experience at Bistro Nolah last night. Our waiter was outstanding, knowledgeable about every dish and was so friendly, service was A++! The food never disappoints here, as always every dish was simply perfection. This restaurant is consistent in service, ambience and food.
My husband and I were lucky to have reservations at Bistro Nolah on Valentines Day. Considering its strip mall location, tue restaurant is warm and inviting, with great music and casual, romantic ambiance. The service, from both our hostess, Cassidy, and our server were outstanding throughout. The three course menu had various options. Each course was absolutely delicious, and beautiful to look at. Our mains, the braised short rib with polenta and the Cajun shrimp were particularly outstanding. The rest of the food was equally impressive. If you are looking for a great restaurant, with terrific food and service that is not a hassle to.park at- I strongly recommend this fine establishment. Oh, and if youve never had Mississippi mud pie, order it. You wont regret it.
Yesterday me ,my husband and friends had the most delicious food at Bistro Nolah! Great atmosphere and the waiter was amazing! Definitely going back. Best spicy Margarita! ;)
Awesome New Orleans food.
Excellent food. Even if I couldnt eat spicy, A main meal was arranged for me based on my dietary restrictions. Bravo to this restaurant! We were a group of 6. There were 4 people who didnt know this restaurant... Yes, they will come back. They loved it
Everything was amazing! Will definitely be back!
AMAZING food and service. Our server Chris was great. He recommended some signiture dishes Definitely go for the fried chicken, gumbo, and anything with grits
As a die hard fan of creole food this place was amazing. The food was so good. The fried chicken was light crispy and full of flavour and the gumbo and smoked brisket were packed with rich and on point flavours. The service was outstanding our server was attentive and very knowledgeable and looked after us. If you love southern inspired food great service and ambiance I highly recommend going. We will be back
Great Atmospheric vibes. The staffs are wonderful. One of the best chicken, and brisket. They have duck aswell. Ill give this resto 11/10 Kid-friendliness: If you have kids Bistro Nolah have few appetizers that theyll love and enjoy. Ex. Is their Mac N Cheese and their mouth watering chicken.
Last night was my first dining experience at this exceptional gem of a restaurant. The octopus appetizer was phenomenal. I was advised by many people to order the shrimp and grits and could not believe a dish could be so heavenly delicious. I was too full to order the bread pudding which I was planning to, so I shared the Mississippi mud pie which is a chocolate lovers delight. This was one of THE most delicious meals that I have ever eaten and cannot wait to return.
I LOVE this restaurant. The food is incredible. I ordered the Creole shrimp & the mac&cheese. Everything is soo flavorful. The Creole shrimp has the right amount of spicy and it pairs soo well with the jambalaya rice. Overall I highly recommend it!
Love this restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant, the best southern food Ive ever had.
Decmber 17th 2022. Where do I even begin? First off, we were here thanks to a giveaway that I had initial won through a certain platform. Entrée, main meal and dessert was on the house for two. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were greated right away. They already knew why we were there. Which was great! I didnt have to explain myself and show proof and have to go through a long series of waiting for an authorisation from the owner. The staffs were all well informed about everything! We were seated right away. They took the time to explain the menu and informed us about the specials of the evening. Our waitress/hostess was a little cold by mid meal. Meaning, she did not took a moment to ask if everything was to our liking. While on the other hand, a table next to us, were regular costumers and I will say, they were treated first-class! Mind you, we ordered extra items (two cocktails) and tip was given according to our entire meal including the extra items. Despite that little hiccup, our dinner experince at Bistro Nolah was by far the best we have ever had in a very long time. I have always wanted to try Southern dishes without having to travel too far and let me tell you, the food was mouth-watering. It was an explosion of flavors! The details on each plating was immaculate. The whole experince was so memorable that we came back a second time, not long after! Mr. Chef Taitt, you have an amazing team with such talent and your restaurant reflects that. Thank you for 2 unforgetable dinners!
Realizing why this restaurant is so highly rated! Definitely deserved! Partners Chris & Richard are totally invested in the smooth running of this great place. We sat at the bar, which was only available shortly before leaving work. Lucky us as we enjoy eating out, we were able to get a real feel for the place and chat with Chris. Myself, I realized I was in a little trouble ordering the jambalaya appetizer - really tasty but a little heavy for me. I ate too much. So when my entree came blackened catfish served on a bed of mash sweet potato accompanied with lovely fresh beans etc, I could barely finish. My bad. Food is amazing. Service great. Ambiance ; top notch. So, make sure you call and reserve - then enjoy Monica & Jeff
Excellent!
A nice experience
The tasting menu is delicious and extremely reasonably priced. The wine pairing is $25 (so cheap!) and is generous in quantity but not impressive if you are a wine lover. The cocktail was very successful! We will go back without hesitation!
My girlfriend and I went for the first time on Friday. Will definitely go back to try some of the other dishes. Enjoyed the food.
Absolutely delicious. I would walk over my own family to get that short rib. Be sure to reserve if you want to dine in, the dining room is small, intimate, and fills up fast.
Excellent experience! The food and drinks were very good, with plenty of interesting options The server was very knowledgeable and friendly The ambience was lively enough without being intrusive We will definitely be returning! Parking: Plenty of parking as the Blue Haven mall is very quiet in the evenings
Absolutely hands down my favorite resto in Montréal. From the time we walked in until we left. Thank you staff. Thank you Chef Richard.
Incredible culinary experience, breathtaking flavor.
Excellent food, excellent plating, excellent service. Our compliments to the Chef and his crew.
I will definitely go back there again. Food is delicious. Ambiance is warming. Good service.
Absolutely spectacular! From the service to the food. Only two really minor things. The ambience was nice though to cancel out a bit of the ambient noise the might turn their great soundtrack up. Also my friend was lacking water though with only two on staff, it was a Wednesday after all, kindof understandable. But the food!! OMG THE FOOD!!! Five very satisfied customers. Duck confit, Mac and cheese, Jambalaya balls, mussels, short ribs, brisket and creole shrimp!! All to die for! Doggie bags please! And it will not go to the dog!! Dietary restrictions: Lactose or gluten intolerant, they ll steer you right Parking: Nice corner of a small strip mall. Tons of parking.
A gem of a restaurant. Excellent food and service. Try the hushpuppies. Brilliant. Food : 4/5
Went there for dinner with my boyfriend and his family for his 40th birthday. The food was AMAZING! The best mac and cheese I have ever had and that brisket? OMG to die for! Every single one of us enjoyed our meals immensely! The drinks were very good as well. The service was warm and friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. I really enjoyed the dixieland jazz music! I would give more stars if I could! Pricey $$$ but absolutely worth it!
Never disappointed!!
Superb discovery.. we come from the south shore!!
This was our first time at Bistro Nolah and we were very excited to try it. We went for the 5 course tasting menu with the wine pairing. The first course was a gumbo, paired with Prosecco, although it was tasty, it was probably my least favorite of the 5 courses. It was too salty for my taste. The second course was the crab cake paired with white wine. It was crispy on the outside, not at all greasy and the crab was the main star. It was a delight and probably my favorite. The 3rd course was shrimp and grits. There were 2 nice large shrimp sittin atop smooth, creamy, cheesy grits, topped with a nice sauce and some crispy fried leeks. It was delicious. The 4th course was the short rib. It came with mashed potatoes and a couple of taro chips. The dish was tasty, the barbq sauce not too sweet and the mashed potatoes were delicious. The last course, dessert, was bread pudding with a bourbon sauce served with a few blueberries and raspberries, a nice end to a great meal. Our waitress took good care of us, and when we asked about the bread (because we heard that it was special) she brough us each a roll with the special butter (I didnt hear what it was). Wow! I didnt want to eat bread because of all the food we were being served, but I couldnt resist. It came warm and was sweet, a bit like a brioche. I ate the whole thing. I cleaned every plate. We will definately be going back!
I ve been going a couple times a year since 2015 I think. Absolutely sensational cuisine and service. Cannot recommend this place enough, the tasting menu with the wine pairing is great value. Will be returning very soon.
Seriously, this little restaurant, barely visible from the street, deserves a 4.5 star. We had 2 different dishes, my partner and I, both of whom were very satisfied with everything that was presented to us. And that doesnt even describe the ambiance and the exceptional service we received, with a visit from the owner who explained the menu to us it was all perfect. What a beautiful evening. 2nd visit to this restaurant and this time I change my rating to 5 stars the dishes were again incredible the service from Mathieu was incomparable thank you again for a beautiful evening. May 2022, 3rd visit and this time there was a 5-course tasting menu and we had it with wine service included. What more can I say, everything was still perfect. Also, I want to highlight the fried chicken, its not a dish that I would normally have, it was in the tasting menu, I recommend it taste-wise May 2023, another great evening with Mathieu if we could give a 6th star for that little extra specialness that we feel when we are there we would do it. This evening we had three starters, a question of having a tapas evening and he made it for us in 3 courses, it is truly exceptional, very nice evening, thank you again Mathieu and the whole team of the Nolah bistro
Amazing food and friendly staff. Wish I could try everything! Update 5/2023: Food was still good but not as on point as I recalled. You can have a sausage or shrimp gumbo (which we had) but the full flavour of the gumbo needs both (a bit too much tomato base for my taste). The fried chicken was not crispy and didnt really have any battered texture unfortunately. Lamb Shank was tender but was missing any strong flavours that would make me think of Cajun or Creole cooking. Food overall was tasty though and service was friendly. Still a gem in the west island and now open on Sundays.
Amazing service, stunning plating and absolutely delicious food. Cant recommend this place enough! The ambience is really nice and in the summer you can enjoy your food on their terrace. Make sure you get some dessert too! Yum!
Dinner was perfect. The servers, the owners, the food...all wonderful. Must try!
Special menu for Mothers Day is good.
What a find. food was spectacular, our waiter Mathew took obvious pride in his job. his knowledge of the food and wine could not have been better. the food was incredible. I wish we lived closer so we could visit again soon.
Every meal you order is outstanding. Always left full and happy.
Great food can t wait to go back again!
Excellent restaurant! Really a great discovery for us. We will definitely go back several times!
great food, great staff...like wow...jambalaya had a nice kick...fried chicken was tasty, crispy, and juicy.....mac n cheese creamyyyyyyy
Finally tried this West Island establishment after passing by it for over a year. Booking a table was easy via the open table app. Service was friendly and attentive. The food, of course, was the shining star. We had the jambalaya which was super tasty. The pork bao was delicious and so were the fish cakes. For the mains, the brisket and blackened catfish potions were very generous and also very tasty. Will be back to try the tasting menu.
Immaculate
An awesome experience (again)! Been here 4 times and the great food and service has been consistent. Well done to Chef Richard Taitt and his team!!!
The food was excellent, Louisiana style.
Best place ever !
Fantastic, a little Cajun island in Montreal. Absolutely excellent
What an incredible place. My friends had raved about it for so long and I finally got a chance to join them - already can t wait to go back! The food was incredible, every bite of every item was memorable. The drinks were on point, and so was the service. Major compliments to the chef. Can t wait to go back soon and try the tasting menu!
Food was delicious. Service great. One of my go to spots in West.
Everything was delicious! Definitely one of the best restaurants in the west island. Beignets brought back memories from New Orleans. Bistro Nolah is a must try!
I had a great time in this restaurant. From starter to dessert everything was delicious. The food is simply excellent. Decoration in the bathroom Parking: Parking is in front of the restaurant
My partner and I had a fabulous experience as our first date after giving birth! Everything was perfect from A to Z, we enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere on the terrace, incredibly tasty and well-balanced food - many thanks to the chef! - and impeccable service with Jennifer!! All the dishes we chose were delicious enough to create sounds of ecstasy; Creole shrimp with jambalaya rice, duck confit and smoked brisket! We were also able to enjoy the tuna tataki interpreted judiciously (it was part of the specials of the week but not an integral part of the menu)! Their fresh homemade bread with chipotle butter had already made our mouths water before receiving our dishes and the donuts for dessert rounded off our evening successfully! We had honestly ordered for 3 people or 2 hungry people, I was filled to the brim so take into account the price I selected in the google reviews options. I recommend this restaurant to everyone! We will definitely return there to be able to taste the other dishes which look just as appetizing!!
We were a group of 6 people and ordered several dishes including starters, main dishes and desserts. The food is good a little spicy for those who dont like the service is good the atmosphere is nice.
5 stars all round! Service, food, adorable terrace. Great discovery, I will return without hesitation!
Everything about this place was beyond amazing. The servers absolutely went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. The atmosphere was 10/10, it s a small place but so comfortable. And every menu item we got was just indescribable. I would definitely recommend and we will be back if we re ever in Montreal again.
I didnt give high marks for the food cause its obviously not something I like although our friends love it. So dont take my review asits not good but that is not for for me. The staff is amazing, helpful & you will not regret going there. Again, its just me! The dishes recommended by my friends are below. Parking: Its the Blue Haven strip mall so theres lots of parking!
Im never disappointed! extraordinary food!
Everything was enjoyable and the service was excellent .
Dining at Bistro Nolah is an experience not to be missed if you appreciate superb and unique cuisine, excellent service, fair prices, and a friendly, but classy bistro setting. I have dined at Nolah on several occasions, and each time it just gets better! Their menu includes New Orleans-style dishes like beignets, hush puppies, jambalaya, gumbo, and so much more, with specials that change nightly. Last night my wife and I enjoyed a leisurely, romantic evening at the bistro; we had the best fried chicken either of us had ever tasted, as well as incredible hush puppies and a melt-in-your-mouth pork belly appetizer. We savoured every bite of our generous entrees of delicious shrimp and grits and blackened catfish. The Cajun flavours were complex and exciting, but not overpowering. Chef Richard has been tweaking his culinary skills and his knowledge of this style of cooking for over 30 years, and believe me, he has it down! A gem of a place to visit on the West Island!
A very good restaurant in the west of Montreal. But after a few times, you lack inspiration, because there isnt much item and new thing on the menu. And recently (early September 2023) prices have completely exploded, before they were acceptable. However, the service is always excellent and professional and food is good!!!
We went for a date night and the food was delicious and the service was great.
A wonderful, original restaurant for when you want something different then the normal, Italian, Greek or American style food that is predominant in the West Island. My party enjoyed every part of their meals from appetizers (Hush Puppies, Fried Chicken, Jumbalaya, Sausage Gumbo) to dessert (Mud Pie, Chocolate Torte, Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce). Four out of five of us choose the Blackened Creole Shrimp (a special) as the main meal. It was very tasty.
Only thing, dont be fooled by the exterior entrance, it really lacks maintenance, it even looks like the restaurant is closed and even abandoned... for the rest nothing to say, its worth crossing the Amazon forest before arriving at the main door
As someone who has recently visited New Orleans, this resto was a nice reminder of that trip. It was not only fantastic food-wise, but the staff was attentive and super nice! It is a West-Island must try!
Simply delicious! From the entrées, to the mains, and finishing with the desserts you simply cant go wrong. If I were to criticize anything it would be there chocolate torte, not very chocolatey when compared to the Mississippi mud cake which was devine! Chris, our waiter was excellent! If you want a nice meal, go!
To be honest, wasnt that impressed. Found it kind of austentatious and over-priced. Food was fine but menu was quite limited.
Fried chicken was so good
Restaurant NOLAH is an absolute gem for anyone craving some New Orleans-inspired goodness. Let me break it down for you - Im a fried chicken fanatic, and their crispy chicken was out of this world. Seriously, Ive had my fair share of fried chicken, but this one is just...something else :drooling emoji: So, heres the deal - we had this awesome waiter named Matthew, and hes the real MVP. We decided to roll with all of his recommendations, and let me tell you, that was the best decision ever. We went all out and shared a feast - fried chicken, hush puppies, jambalaya, grits, gumbo, brisket, creole shrimp, blackened catfish, oysters, and topped it off with some beignets for dessert. Every single dish transported us straight to the southern states, and I couldnt be happier. I might be a bit biased since this cuisine is my absolute favorite, but trust me, Ive had my fair share, and this place is the real deal. Service was on point, and surprisingly, it was quick too. But Matthew, our waiter, was the star of the show. He took his job to a whole new level, explaining each dish with so much passion that it felt like we were in the heart of New Orleans. This guy deserves a standing ovation - he went the extra mile, even chatting up the chef for some special requests and crafting custom drinks for us. Hes the GOAT. Now, lets talk ambiance. It was good, but honestly, the food and the personal touch of the staff stole the spotlight. If you find yourself on the west island of Montreal and craving the ultimate New Orleans comfort food experience, head to NOLAH. I promise you wont regret it. I usually keep an eye on the bill, but I was so blown away by the food that I cant even remember the price. All I know is that when we left, me and my friends were on cloud nine.
Long overdue post. The food was delicious.the fried chicken and crab cakes were amazing. The blackened fish was tasty, a little on the salty side but mouth watering and the dessert was decadent. A must if you re looking for authentic New Orleans cuisine in Montreal.
Very good experience. A 5/5 for the starters. Incredible service. Great discovery
Excellent food and service. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Did not reach my expectations. We will not go back.
I dont ever post on reviews but we were there for a wedding recently. The food was delicious and presented beautifully but ,the staff!!!!!! They were the best !!! I havent been around staff that treated people that good in a long time. Your boss needs to keep you happy because losing you would be a disaster! Food
Food and service was 5 stars. Our waiter Chris was so kind and we had a great experience. Could not recommend this restaurant enough!
Not the same as pre-pandemic and wasnt worth the price tag. No more amuse-bouche. How is covid responsible for that??(excuse from waitress) Had to flag the waitress multiple times. Not busy, just distracted. Rice tasted like it was from chi-chis or a can. Sausage was dry. They used to serve imported wine, now same stuff as SAQ. Chloé for crying out loud. Now there is nothing original nor good enough to overlook the parking lot terrasse. There are better places to spend +100$.
Currently, restaurants do not have the authority to penalize diners for not honoring a table reservation. According to Quebecs consumer protection office, restaurants can ask for a credit card or deposit to secure your reservation, but they cant charge a fee to your credit card if you dont show up. Nope, not for me. 40$ per person s if your a no show!! Scary and exaggerated I will not reserve!
I just came on to leave a compliment to the team of Bistro Nolah and saw the complaint about being charged for late cancellation. As a hairdresser, I loose so much money every time a client doesnt show up. Without a 24 notice, we cant make up that money. You shouldnt be so upset if you were going to show up to your reservation, and if you werent going to show up, then you should be made to pay the Restaurants loss. The small businesses havent recovered from covid yet, and people like you dont make it easy on us. You just gave one star.... What do you think that does for his business? If you dont want to go back, that is your prerogative, but dont make it any harder for the small businesses who are working so hard to keep their heads above water. Im sorry you never got to experience the great food of Bistro Nolah, Ive been there often and its worth every penny. I wish you good luck.
I happened upon a review from a resto I had dinner at a few weeks ago that was posted by Dan his pontificating and belly aching about being charged a few for not showing for a reservation , buddy .. you are not ready for fine dining stick to taverns and mcds, slandering a phenomenal restaurant because you cant keep a reservation is a whole new level of hillbilly entitlement
Very attentive service and the food was so flavoursome! If they have the banana cheesecake on the special menu, don t miss you chance!! It s hands down the best cheesecake I ever had! Thanks again for everything Bistro Nolah!
Service is always on point. The waiters are always attentive and nice. The food is not what it used to be. I had ordered the grits, mac & cheese, ceviche, brisket and beignets. The brisket and ceviche tasted very bland. The mac and cheese and grits were great but nothing special. Everything was just ok. It used to be really good and tasty. I missed the brunch that they offered back in the day. The food is the main reason that I have updated the overall ratings from 5 to 4* and food ratings from 5 to 3*.
Been meaning to go for a few months/since opening. No reservation, still was able to sit at the bar. Service was very good, great attention from our waiter(maybe owner/manager) and the bar staff. We ordered Mac and cheese and Jambalaya balls (special menu) and they were amazing, took shrimp creole and braised ribs for mains, both great dishes, shrimp creole was perfectly spiced, I am always worried when ordering shrimp but in a creole restaurant it s a must and was not disappointed. Braised ribs was tender and delicious. Drinks were made with fresh citrus juices and very tasty. Unfortunately no room for desert. Atmosphere was welcoming nice music and good vibe. Would go back and would recommend. Did not take picture too excited to eat.
Service was excellent and food amazing. Will definitely be back to try more menu items and specials.
Everything was amazing. Keep up the good work guys!
My favourite spot in the West Island.
Food was delicious
Heard good things about this place..Louisiana cuisine...
The perfect place for a date. A culinary pleasure that brings us directly to happiness with every bite. You have to add this establishment to your list.
Delicious.. generous... The atmosphere and the dishes take us elsewhere!
Not happy, my husbands favorite restaurant. Decided to order to have a nice evening in as he was tired from long work hours. The prices on Uber were Minimum 5.00 increase per item. Hush puppies 17.00 instead of 12.00. braised ribs 52.00 instead of 45.00, mac and cheese 25.00 instead of 17.00, why an 8.00 increase on mac and cheese? That is offensive
Absoutely amazing experience, the food was incredible. Atmosphere was awesome. Overall I highly recommend this place for a different experience in the west island.
Our dining experience in Montreal has been somewhat disappointing recently, with restaurants charging very high prices for sub-par quality. Im absolutely happy to pay for good quality food, and I understand the difficulties restaurants are facing post-pandemic. That being said, we went to Bistro Nolah tonight and were blown away by how wonderful everything was. Ambiance was lovely, really loved how cozy the restaurant is, the jazz music and the decor. Tables are spaced well enough apart and music is a good volume so that you dont have to yell over any noise. My partner and I definitely plan to come back for another date night. The service was great. I almost wished they came less frequently to our table, but we arrived at 5 pm when it was initially less busy. Still, it was not overbearing by any means. We were given plenty of time to relax after getting our check without us needing to search for our waiter to pay. And our waiter clearly knew the menu really well - we really appreciated his input when we were choosing our meals. Finally, the food and drinks were fantastic. I had a Dark and Stormy which was double the size of a cocktail Id get in the city. Great value, well made. Nothing special on the cocktail menu front, but still very much enjoyed my drink. Started out with some nice warm bread rolls with some very addictive smoky/sweet butter. We shared the sausage gumbo appetizer. Really tasty and notably the texture of the rice in the gumbo was perfect, but cant speak to how it compares to gumbo from Louisiana. Not particularly spicy, as someone who eats a lot of spicy food, contrary to what some reviewers have said, but flavorful. I would recommend trying it, but will skip it next time and try out the fried chicken or mac and cheese, as a matter of personal preference. We shared the brisket and creole shrimp mains. Brisket was phenomenal, especially the barbecue sauce. Love oyster mushrooms, but could take or leave the ones on top of the brisket. Felt like they could use a better sautée and that they didnt mesh that well with the dish. Mashed potatoes were also delicious. That said, it was my favorite dish we ate, as well as my partners, but was very closely followed by the creole shrimp. If you dont like heat of any kind, the creole shrimp might not be for you. We love spicy. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the flavor was fantastic. The tomato sauce was also incredible and had the perfect amount of heat. The side of jambalaya and veggies were good too, but not the star of the show. To be fair, I was incredibly full and saved them for last - a testament to the nice portion size for what we paid and my mistake of eating a pain au chocolat an hour and a half before dinner. For me, what makes a restaurant stand out is attention to detail, and Bistro Nolah does not disappoint in that regard. I cant wait to come back and try some dessert next time! If youre like us and live nowhere near the West Island, I hope this convinces you to make the trip. My only regret is not coming here sooner.
November 2023: the short ribs were well presented, a good portion, and well cooked but kinda tasteless except for the surface. Jambalaya boulettes were delicious but if there was meat it was invisible. Great service. Nice decor at atmosphere. Enjoyed the Nebbolini wine we got. Past experiences: Definitely one of the best restaurants in the West Island overall. Excellent service. Nice cocktails but they could stand to be more creative with them. Gumbo and jambalaya are always solid choices. The beignets are very filling. The lobster mac and cheese wasnt really for me, it felt like it was missing something. Brunch was great pre-covid, havent checked since.
They won my heart with that fresh bread and chipotle, honey whipped butter. Everything was lovely and our server Jennifer was wonderful. The hush puppies were delicious and the Lobster Mac & Cheese was super decadent. I cant wait to go back for shrimp and grits.
Bistro Nolah is a New Orleans delight! From mouthwatering fried chicken to the flavorful jambalaya, every dish screams authenticity. The charming ambiance, complete with jazz music, transports you to the heart of Louisiana. What truly made our visit exceptional was Chris, our waiter, who provided the best service weve ever experienced. A must-visit for an authentic taste of New Orleans with impeccable service.
Delicious! Wonderful service! Fun atmosphere. A jewel in Montreal. The servers really know the menu and make excellent recommendations.
Absolutely delicious food with great ambience and music. Friendly staff. A must!
