A great dining spot at the airport! The service was quick, efficient, and friendly, which is exactly what you need while traveling. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable a great way to relax before a flight. Highly recommend stopping here if you’re looking for a quality meal at the airport!
Quick breakfast with great service! Not bad for airport food in a rush. Server was great. The fresh brewed orange peyote tea was fabulous!
Fast service, food took a bit only because we ordered in between menu shift. All was good, and I repeat, our waiter John was awesom, fast, on point. Also the tunes, the likes of Journey, KINGS OF LEON and more like it! Keep it up👊
3.5/5 Airport Breakfast Spot: A Pleasant Surprise Stopped by Houston Avenue Bar & Grill with my husband during our layover. The breakfast options were surprisingly varied, including omelets, pancakes, and healthier choices. Service was attentive, and our server ensured our coffee cups stayed full. Prices were reasonable for airport dining. While not gourmet, Houston Avenue Bar & Grill's a solid choice for travelers seeking a filling breakfast.
Typically, I avoid dining at airport restaurants, but due to a canceled flight, I found myself needing a place to eat. Thankfully, I stumbled upon a decent spot that served good food. Though the prices were on the higher side, the quality of the food made up for it. I ordered the chicken wings and a grilled burger. Unfortunately, I missed the breakfast menu, which ends at 10 AM, so I chose from the lunch options instead. The food tasted good overall. The chicken wings were a bit dry, but the flavor was decent. The grilled burger was satisfying. I also tried their lemonade, which was just okay. What really stood out was the service. The waitstaff was wonderful—punctual and attentive, which made the experience much more enjoyable.
Great staff. Fast, on the ball, good communication. The tacos were a bit small but they tasted good. The popcorn shrimp, is more glazed crispy shrimp. Very tasty. The rocket salad that the shrimp sit on is good.
Decided to get some breakfast before my flight. The waiter took awhile to attend me. After he took my order my plate was delicious. Everything was good. The waiter again took forever to give me my bill. I suggest for anyone eating here come with plenty of time to spare, so you don’t miss your flight.
We had a lot of time waiting for our flight due to delays and thought this place looked good for lunch and killing time. The poutine was very good, highly recommended. The burger was just “ok” - dry and not a lot of flavor. The service was slow, so I suppose it helped chew up time. They said it might take 30 min for the food, which was right. It to took about 45 min. Staff was friendly.
When the waiter tells you: dont ask too much from cooks paid $15/HOUR that says it all I think not good at all and too expensive for what its worth! I should have settled for a good cheese bagel...elsewhere!
Never again.
Don t come here if you don t have at least 90 minutes to waste I had to wait over 40 minutes to get my food, and when it finally arrived, it was disappointing. The server was super kind and attentive, but unfortunately, that couldnt make up for how bad the food was. Not worth the wait at all.
I had breakfast before boarding at this place on a Sunday morning. A good 1/4 of my potatoes were crushed, my toasts were burnt and eggs were not fully cooked. The breakfast sausages and coffee were just awful, and there were mistakes on my order. The pricing was absurdly high. The only good thing I can say is that it was fast. I will not go there again, ever.
This was the second time I went there, and on both occasions it took almost an hour to get my breakfast order. No exaggeration. This is an airport restaurant, nobody has one hour to just sit there and wait for their food. The kitchen staff needs a serious shake up if they are unable to deliver eggs to a half full restaurant on a weekday morning. Seriously. This is the most basic of services, breakfast. Theres no excuses. The wait staff was good my first time around, taking care of me, apologizing for the delays. This second time around, they couldnt have cared less. And mind you, I did not complain, I was not being difficult. I only asked for an ETA on my breakfast about 40 minutes in and all I got back in return was they are a little backed up. Again, the place was half full, at best. And, the bar was dirty. DIRTY. Full of crumbs and debris from whatever the person before me had. Avoid, like the plague.
The worst nachos i have ever had...ever (most expensive too). It is an airport restaurant, so I guess I didnt expect much, which is good. Vending machine chips with some cheese melted on it and like a few items thrown on. They did give some kepcup type salsa and sour cream. They were quick too.
Always ask before sitting to make sure you can eat before your flight. Sometimes they have long wait for the kitchen.
Slowest service ever. Had to leave after 30 minutes never receiving my food.
Quick bite in the airport before flying, usually next to gates for flights to the US. Food is so-so, acceptable, of course priced at airport level. Service is quite slow, which is not ideal for a quick bite before flight. Having observed the other tables after sitting down, I actually asked for my check right after my steak was served.
I have done a lot of traveling my whole life and have had the worst experience at the bar (of all places) at the Airport in Montreal. Max the bar tender was obviously having a very bad day and brought the vibe down. It was very uncomfortable and a horrible end to a wonderful week in Canada visiting. Shame on him!
We tried to eat here while waiting for our flight but unfortunately were unsuccessful in getting a clean table from the host who thought better to insult us and yell at us for not accepting a dirty table despite the 20-30 clean empty table. Not sure if this is a Canadian traight or just lousy service.
Ordered the eggs Benedict at 4 am on a Monday and was delicious. Just wish the bread was a little more toasted and a bit more of the hollandaise sauce. Overall very good. Coffee was delicious.
They were under staffed and so it took 45 mins to get my breakfast. I ordered the eggs Benedict and I do not recommend. Eggs were hard, cold. The sauce was broken. I think it was sitting a while. Had to eat fast to catch a flight.
The older female employee is not rude lol. When I went in, I had to stand at the entrance for 5 minutes and they handed me a menu and I had to go and ask for the bill. Asians should not go. Suspected as racist. I didnt want to give a tip, but it seemed like a fight, so I gave him 10 dollars. I ordered 2 menu items, but he gave me 3 of the menu items I wanted. Even if it was my fault for not understanding English well, they spilled all the drinks when they gave me the drink, burned all the bread, and they knew it was bad, so they turned it over when giving it to me. I put it inside haha and then gave one side to each person in my group. Even though it is coal, trains can run immediately. The ham is salty, the bacon doesnt taste good, and the steak is so tough that you can skip the rope.
After 50 minutes after ordering, I had received nothing so I left and I will come back here again and they take forever to serve the tables. I would have given 0 stars if I could
After 52 minutes of waiting I had to get up and leave. Take note that I ordered crepes with fresh fruit.
I was surprised to see this restaurant have a 3.3 rating. I enjoyed it enought to leave a good review. The service was a little slow but it was busy. I enjoyed their classic breakfast with over hard eggs. It was delicious. The coffee was nice and strong. I was impressed considering we are at an airport. I recommend this for breakfast of you have time while you are waiting for your flight.
I had to wait about twenty minutes before the waiter came to take my order even though the restaurant was 35-40% full. The towers were burnt and the omelette was bland. I had to wait 30 minutes despite my repeated calls to get the bill. I had to get up myself and threaten the waiter to leave without paying who refused to give me the bill. Of course, I left no tip. It was lousy service. Despite everything, the restaurant seems quite interesting. The place is nice with a beautiful decoration without these incompetent waiters. Im sure the place is very nice
Two stars because they did help us out with taking an item off the bill at the end. I would avoid this place for breakfast. No one came over for 15 mins or more after we sat down, no coffee til 15 mins after that, our order was incorrect and by the time we got it we were starving, and no one helping the waitress bus tables. Really poor showing. I think they need to hire more staff.
Disorganized even when its not crowded. Food is nothing more than average.
Only a dozen cold fries boohhhhh
Very very slow.
Just ate here after our flight from Madrid. This is the best airport food I ve had in recent memory. The French onion soup, popcorn shrimp appetizer, and the Houston Burger are all must-haves along with the sweet potato fries. The chicken and fish tacos were good too. Roberto took great care of us! Outstanding service with a smile. Thank you.
A stop for a small beer and a rather bite before leaving for Seattle. A commercial red beer, very cold, food that lacks love, a super friendly waiter to serve it all. The food tasted too much like salt, too much like sugar. Always too expensive for what it is in airports. The choice being slim, we are satisfied with this very little.
Service was great. Food was alright. Price reasonable given good dine-in options available in a airport.
My family and I travelled through YUL July 9, 2024 and stopped for lunch about 4:30. The service was the worst I ve ever experienced, worldwide. The waiter Mario first forgot what we ordered and had to return. The sodas were flat and when we pointed it out, he shrugged and said that s how they are. He offered a replacement if the same flat soda but not water or any other drink. He never returned to our table until he presented us with the bill. He did however have time to socialize with his friends and talk back to the manager. Would not recommend this restaurant even though it was one or two in the departure area. The manager I spoke with was exceedingly pleasant and helpful but it can t overcome the abysmal service.
Sadly, the wait staff was understaffed. Our waitress was buried and our food was forgotten. We watched four tables seated/orderd after us get their food long before us. We started getting ancy and our waitress noticed, and suddenly our cold food was delivered. No apologies, just cold nachos delivered like thats normal.
Great fresh food
English follows. Fast and courteous service. Meals Ive had better elsewhere. Quick service and very friendly. Had better meals.
Drinks and sides were great but they couldn t cook a medium rare steak to save their life.
As far as airport food goes, this is great. Great staff, great food.
Worst food in Montreal I would say. The coffee is terrible, the smoked salmon omelette was only appetizing in name. Even the water is undrinkable!
Quick and tasty, perfect before a flight
Loud and slow! Everytime I go it takes forever to take my order, get my food and pay. Also overpriced.
Grilled chicken burger cold w fishy taste Heineken on tap luke warm. Sweet potato fries , excellent. Wife s bacon burger very good . No charge for chicken burger.
My plate was awesome. The steak was cooked medium rare just how I asked. It was also seasoned well. Service was very good. I recommend!!
Me and my best friend got brunch while waiting for our flight. Unfortunately when i was almost done my meal (buttermilk pancakes with 3 meats) i noticed a heavy chemical taste coming from the food. Later on in the day we both got food poisoning. The service was good and quick though.
Gteat
The staff were attentive and friendly. The front staff was upfront to say that I need to have at least 20-45 minutes before boarding. I told him I had at least 4 hours. The wait staff was friendly and always smiling, hence I gave her tip. We don t have tipping culture in Australia as employers are required to pay good rates to their employees. The food itself, however, was a disappointment. The burger was dry, not juicy. The chips were a thin and not crunchy. I find paying Cdn$45 is not commensurate to the quality of cooking.
Very good place to be
Poor service and food
Overpriced food. Go elsewhere.
6 tables taken, 15 minutes wait. Not a glance from the waiters, non-existent reception to be avoided.
Super place
Our server was very friendly and attentive. The fish tacos we ordered were very tasty! The draft beer was a better price here than at the other 2 bars in this part of the airport. Overall we had a very positive time waiting for our flight at the grill. Thank you! Kid-friendliness: The kids menu had decent prices. Our daughter ordered the chicken with fries and said they were very good!
Terrible service, the waiter took very long to take the order , food was ok but nothing great then we ordered 2 coffees and one piece of key lime pie which never arrived and the waiter keeps saying with a mean attitude was not his fault was the the kitchen people that they didn t have the dessert ready!!!!! This place has horrible customer service. I would not recommend it.
Its very bad, especially for the prize. 23$ for a burger with microwaved chicken and 6 fried that were coated in salt?
My omelette was not very good. I think inflation has its back... almost no ham, a few grilled onions and a little bit of cheese. All for $25
EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE, my daughters chess grill arrived completely charred
Too expensive.
Fine for an airport restaurant, but while it seemed high end, the food was blah. The best part was the potato wedges. Pancakes were fine but uninspired, service was friendly but not so attentive and speedy, especially knowing they are in an airport. Pricey for what it is.
Shame the food doesnt match the service. Bacon cheeseburger is a derision. If you charge 25 for a burger I expect at least a 6dollar cost burger. Food : 1/5
Recommend! The waitress was super nice and the food was good.
The food was a disaster and not at all worth the money charged. A nice place to wait for ones flight is the best I can say. The service was okay. Just okay
Excellent food service that does the job.
Cold food, 30min for poached eggs! Overpriced
Food was ok. Over priced because it is at an airport.
Good place to eat and have a coffee or beer at the US terminal of Pierre Elliott Trudeau international Airport (YUL)
Expensive food, rigid non accommodating manager. As a non-meat eater, I asked to replace salmon in salad and was told no on several occasions. I now go to a competitor at YUL where they are much more accommodating!
Breakfasst was only over 5 min and they would notlket me order it. A group of 6, 2 minutes later were told the same thing we all walked away
Terrible coffee. It s as if they colores hot water. Better get a sandwich to go.
Worst service ever, attitude and rough employees they need competition over the us boarder here
We ate very well and the service was very good. They are well located on the other side of customs
The first time I ate at this place was for breakfast and it was perfect. However, during my visit yesterday it was not the same. Communication only in English, order not included, lukewarm to almost cold meal. The only positive is the atmosphere because even the price of the bill was exaggerated and we dont even talk about the tipping suggestions which start at 18% on the machine.
We wanted to sit down to have a drink however they only let you sit at the bar if for the moment you only want a drink. They don t have any vegan options and the staff did not mention that when we went to sit down that to sit at a table you HAVE to order food. The bar was full and loud.
Mortgage your house before eating or drinking here, its an airport and expensive.
A very expensive place to kill time in an airport! 2 drinks each, soup and a burger set us back $150 with tip.
Its average pricey food. Convenient but not especially memorable
Literally the worst experience I ever had in my life
Delicious pizza. Very friendly staff.
The fish tacos were so good! I travel quite a bit and this is some of the best airport food I ve had.
Sub par food quality; I expected more. The french onion soup was ... meh, and the phyllie steak sandwich was not even close. I wont eat hear next time. Food
Lack of proper treatment to customers
Service was awful. Took 5 mins to get a menu. Took us waving and 10 mins to get a waiter to take our order. Took me waving at the waiter to get a refill on my drink and the check. And this was with more staff than customers. It felt more like social hour for the staff than running a restaurant. Sweet potato fries were also soggy. And meals are ~$30 each for basic fare. Not many choices in the airport for hopefully others are better than this.
Overall, it was okay. But the fish taco was extremely oily - I couldnt eat it all.
Worst coffee ever, dishwater
well ordinary..............................what a shame!
I am never impressed by this restaurant. Its like a must-have because theres really no other choice. Expensive, coffee not included in lunch and extremely long service.
Service was fairly quick, and my waiter was very friendly and attentive. Eggsbenedict was bland and overcooked. Fries were fried dry, and so was the toast. Very expensive for poor food.
Highly recommend the chicken tacos! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive to our needs without even asking what we needed!
The slowest restaurant I have ever been in. Good thing I had plenty of time to kill before my flight.
Good service Thank you
Great Airport food
My burger was dry and bland. Its an airport restaurant, my expectations are low. However, I liked their mayo with horseradish and their premium draft. That I do recommend.
Very good but a little expensive. Price at an airport...
Everything is overpriced.
Terrible service from the rude host at arrival to us and others and to the complaining and rude waitress Leslie. Terrible service poor food quality.
Food is Really Bad
Kid-friendliness: Childrens menu available Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access for wheelchairs
Stay away from this establishment. I order lunch Deluxe brown bread receive regular lunch white bread without consulting me. Waitress offended that I left a comment and didnt come back. There are other restaurants in the airport offering better service and lunch.
Spent like 3 or 4 hours here during the time between checking out of the hotel and before our flight. They were very nice and accommodating. Both servers were very friendly and the food wasnt too bad either.
Great place to eat at the airport. The ribs were phenomenal .
Great spot in the american departure wing. There are several other restaurants near by, this spot offers the most variety in their menu and items most people will be familiar with. Pricing is atrocious as expected from the airport. However, the customer service here was suprisingly good. Further. The food was quite delightful, very well done. Given the lack of quality options at an airport, this is a great spot for some qulity food. The staff are super friendly and ready to help you. Definitely recommend this spot for those traveling through this wing of the airport. Kid-friendliness: Sizable menu with the standard kid friendly foods like chicken fingers Wheelchair accessibility: One floor easy access
Friendly service, good food
Chicken burger - meat was undercooked and the brie was cold
Disappointing food, mediocre service.
Cold burger
Ding dong host could have told us breakfast was over at 10:30 am isn t thta his job anyway?
My wife thought the poutine was OK. Her iced tea tasted funny Like it was an old batch. The Houston burger was underwhelming at over $25. I had to search for the grilled onions. Found 4 strands. Hardly no bbq sause. It was so dry I took one of the buns off and still did not finish it. Service was pretty good. VERY expensive place. Would not come back.
Doesn t have burgers or steak.
Questionable value for money
2stars only nothing special.
The food and service were excellent. But, the place could have been cleaner. That is something that the wait staff nor the kitchen is responsible for.
Hamberger was not cooked, fries were cold and not tasty. Not recommended for the quality as well as high price
Highly recommend: Had the standard American breakfast two eggs, dry brown toast with jelly, deep fried potatoes, ham with coffee. Brittany bartender for nearly ten years of working here was quick, personable, effective, all knowing and efficient. Union restaurant
Phew! Okay I understand its a restaurant in an airport but seriously its not good. Service is really bad, slow, unhelpful and with several errors or forgetfulness. No lunch after 10:30am that s also really strange.
Food for two came relatively quick - breakfast Omelet was good/fluffy, toast burnt/not edible Crepes like rubber Coffee average Server did not revisit table despite not particularly busy $50 for two
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! Service was the worst I ve ever had our server Karen forgot to put in our order- everyone received there food before us and when we finally inquired about our order, she was so rude and unapologetic. Her coworker Leslie was extremely nasty and treated us very poorly. We will never come back again. Do not recommend waisting money here
Ordered drinks and dessert while we waited for our flight. All were amazing. Server was slow and we would of bought more if shes was on top of it. But since it took so long for her to being us anything, we didnt. Nice place though.
For an airport restaurant the food was above average and the service was fast & friendly
Nice and pricey place to wait for your flight
The food is not that good i say may be because it is an airport! They let us wait about 5 minutes for no reason, there was a lots of empty tables but yet they let us stand outside! I really didn t understand why they would do that!!
Got this interesting beer and steak. Cant complain for airport food. Great service.
Expensive lunch meals. Take advantage of the exclusivity of the airport to take advantage of the high prices.
It was okay. Just okay. No wow... you shouldnt expect much more in an airport restaurant either. On the other hand Pamela the waitress at that time was very good, friendly and smiling, good service and fast. Classic, ordinary and correct lunch meal. For the price, a few slices of fresh fruit would have made the meal more enjoyable... but the $4 coffee tasted bad. I will still return, at another time of the day if my next flight allows it!
Horrible fries!
Waiter who garbles the coffee and the dish on the table far from you, does not wish you bon appetit and does not even bother to serve you a glass of water. Well-cooked bacon requested, but the waiter was in too much of a hurry and didnt seem to have listened to my request. Expensive lunch and a nervous waiter who seems to be in sausage factory mode. Very disappointed with my experience.
Don t bother with this place food is disgusting absolutely no service you will wait awhile to get your overpriced food
It s absolute horrendous service here , one meal for a single person ordered 30mins ago, nothing complicated one plate of tacos , no sense of urgency that it is an airport !!! People who came after me were all served
Cheap fast food if hungry before a flight. Took 19 minutes to get the bill.
Lunch Decent club sandwich Very good chicken fillet Very ordinary service
Expect something better from their Estrella menu. Or specialty. Im on duty.
Good for an airport restaurant.
Its a shame to put the name Houston bar & grill on the mud they serve here.
Decided to get some breakfast before our flight, and we were ignored for 20 minutes, took another 40 minutes to get our meal and then when requesting the bill 20 minutes later (because we were trying to catch our flight, and consistently told the waiter this) it took an additional half hour for the waiter to bring the bill and pay. In addition to this, the manager and the waiters were having a very heated/loud conversation that carried throughout the restaurant. Food was average, I would pass and try another restaurant for breakfast - especially if you are waiting to board soon.
Ordered fish & chips. Fish were dry and appeared to be processed fish patties (they were identical in shape and size). Service was cursory at best.
Horrible service would leave 0 stars if possible. Food is mediocre, definitely not worth the cost, even for an airport meal. Got the grilled chicken sandwich, basic chicken breast with a little mango puree. Food : 2/5
Food was OK, service was absolutely horrible. Our waitress took our order and was taking the menus out of our hands and walking away as we were still ordering. Since she didnt pay attention to who ordered what food, the food was served to us reversed. She walked by several times but only checked on us once....but didnt didnt stop, just asked how our food was while flying by to go to another table. I dont think she even heard our answer because she ran by so fast. Then when we paid, I left an appropriate $1 tip for the lack of service and she tried to call me out on it. Sorry princess, you have to earn the tip, its not just given to you. Worst service I have had in a long time. The restaurant was not even busy.
Don t take the poutine .. we are in Quebec we are suppose to be the best in poutine with the best chest curb .. I pay 30$ for something I regret
Usually I don t post reviews at all but.. 1. Food was very bad. I confirmed with a customer next to me: DO NOT ORDER ONION SOUP. Very watery but salty, hardly any onions, tasted like an instant mix. 2. My waitress was really bad. Didn t know who ordered what, and we had to go to her to get the check. Her service was suboptimal. 3. There was an ant on my plate(I have a video but I think we can only post photos; it s at the bottom left of my plate. Small red ant.
Had a lovely experience here during a layover. Ralph was an excellent server who treated us like close friends. Lovely venue!
Quick and efficient service well done
Nice large restaurant to catch a drink and food. Chilled before flight.
The worst burger I have ever eaten in my life. Dry and not tasty. I was extremely disappointed with my dining experience here.
Poor food, poor service and poor ambiance!
Don t go there unless you have an hour and a half for a simple breakfast and one coffee no refills staff seemed to be stressed out
I was greeted immediately and they made sure I had at least 30min before my flight. GREAT start! I ordered the Benedict and was informed it had fresh spinach (different but sure). My food arrived within 10 minutes and was excellent.
Our breakfast experience at Houstons was great. What truly surprised us was the complimentary mimosas offered for our honeymoon celebration. It was a thoughtful touch that added an extra layer of joy to our morning.
I really recommend the microwaved philly steak sandwich! Cooked to perfection with hot lettuce & tomatoe. Hard on the top soaking wet on the bottom. For 30$ its the best place u can eat in montreal! Keep up the good work Houston bar & grill .
For the breakfast really not great: bland breakfast sandwich and really really bad breakfast sausages
I d like to see the kitchen staff eat the rotten arugula they put on top of my omelet. The waiters weren t very accommodating even when asked to rush a bit, and given that we re at the airport gate I think that s a bit unfortunate. When I left no tip with my credit card payment the waiter asked whether I m planning to leave tip in cash. I think the correct question to ask would have been whether I liked the food I was served.
Good place!
Any airport restaurant that serves fresh, tasty meals with pleasant service deserves 5 stars. And this one certainly does. Enjoyed the Houston burger & frites. Hot and delicious. Highly recommend this C concourse location.
Excellent service and fast too.
very disapointing breakfeast. the food was cold and not very tasty. the service was long but the waitress still was trying her best to give good service. she did a mistake on our bill and apologized. way over priced drinks. no atmosphere when sitting down on the side section.
The waitstaff was incredible and the food was in line with a better airport food expereince.
Great restaurant in the airport. Great service. Food was tasty. Get the poutine and ribs. Yum
Ive been to Houston in the city and always liked them so choose this one for a pre flight meal. Burger was way over cooked, if I had cooked a burger like that for a guest at my home Id have been embarrassed or thrown it out. Service was just OK, some polite and the food service kind of rough. Not sure Id go back to that Houston again.
