Nickels Deli in Dorval

I attempted to go here for breakfast. There was really only one other customer in the place but the waitress seemed annoyed or irritated so I decided to leave and eat at the other breakfast restaurant in the complex. I won t be going back.

Lots of little fruit flies, we ordered a pitcher and there were so many flies where the benches were, a fly got into our pitcher and the waitress dared to tell us that when she served it to us there were none. instead of apologizing she brought us a new one and placed a Napkins on it. Its disgusting because there are so many flies. Plus the music was really loud. The pizza and fries with sauces were good but wont go back there again because of the flies and the salt and pepper shakers were all stuck. Too bad but messy and the writing on the images of pigs, chickens and beef is out of place

Ordered the Montreal smoked meat sandwich. The bread could have been larger slices and toasted too.

Very unpleasant Unpleasant welcome, the usher did not appreciate us asking for a seat. The waitress was stressed and abrupt. No coffee refills... But the worst was the music from the bar (bases) that could be heard throughout the dining room at 11:00 in the morning... We will not come back..

I ordered Le Star (smoked meat sandwich) and a cheesecake to take away. The smoked meat was okay; I have already eaten better elsewhere (several traces of fat in the middle of the meat even if I asked for very lean. The cake was however delicious! I only ate half of it because for one person it was is way too much! It will be another meal tomorrow and the lady at the reception was very helpful and kind, this with a big smile!

Let me start with the restaurant and the food, ABSOLUTELY spectacular. Alas some things do get ruined by ungrateful waiters, I had spent 110$ and wanted to leave the waiter a tip of 12$(in change of loonies, not horrible but it can be annoying) and they SCOFFED at me and said it was only 2$. I honestly cannot believe this as this is the first time I ve had an issue with a restaurants because I gave a tip. I recommend this restaurant for the food 100%. I can t recommend it if you want to be spoken to like a human though. Unfortunate as it s delicious.

I visited this place with my friends, the food was good and all but our waitress was present at one time only when taking order, another waiter brought our food. Then, when it was time to pay, we paid and left no tips. The waitress came to our table and started lying that i havent paid some federal amount of money, and i have to pay now again. From my understanding, she wanted tips, but why would you lie? I was talking in a different language with my friend, waitress thought i was a tourist or foreigner and tried to make money out of it, i wouldnt recommend it. Very unpleasant experience, honestly.

Love this restaurant. It is my favorite for lunch. The staff is welcoming and the service impeccable.

My family had a brief stopover we would take them back to the back to the Airport to catch a later flight. Since they wanted to have smoked meat & poutine they chose this restaurant close by. The food was good and the service was amazing our waitress even laughed at my husbands jokes. We plan on going back for breakfast those pancakes look enticing. The owner probably won t answer like usual tho to address this servers behaviour:( I WAS a regular customer here because every week I take my bf and grandfather out for lunch. It was a day where the manager wasn t there I m guessing. The waiter (Spanish looking guy) we had was rushing my grandfather as he was trying to order. Like he is 90 hrs old and I found this very disrespectful. He got all our food orders wrong from not trying to let us finish talking but we didn t want to wait for more food so we just ate whatever was given. We paid for coffees and he NEVER refilled them after we even asked a few times. Therefore whenever it was time to pay I was considering not tipping because the service was HORRIBLE but I thought that maybe he was having a bad day so I tipped just $2.00. He then yelled in front of everyone that I am obligated to tip minimum 15% (which was a $10 tip because my bill was already $70) and that he will NEVER serve us again. I told him that I will tip to good service and this was not good service. He then said whatever. My grandpa never wants to go back there again because this was absolutely disgusting behaviour. Your horrible employee just lost you guys a great regular customer :(

The smoked meat sandwich was loaded with lots of smoked meat. I like the option of lean or medium for the smoked meat. I had the medium, very juicy. French fries and Cole slaw were a great accompaniment.

Went in on Wednesday to order takeout. I was first greeted with a very nice waitress who came to takeout counter to see me, she took my order but when I showed her my nickels gift card she did not know how to process it on the payment system so she went and asked for help from another waitress which was fine. She had already taken my order so I had to wait anyway. The waitress who was the only one apparently who knows how to process giftcard payments, was the rudest person I ve had the unfortunate experience of meeting. First she glared at me, and said how much is on the card? And I told her I wasn t sure if it was 20 or 25$ which upset her, she told me I had to know the exact amount and I don t have time for this, why don t you know how much is on the card, Indont understand how you do that, I can t do it, I don t have have the time to figure it out for you (it wasn t written on the card but I remembered person who gave me it as gift said either 25 or 20); So I said, well I figured, it was like all other restaurants, where they just pass the gift card, and you pay the difference , and she was still angry and said no we can t do that, that s not how it works , so I said, well ok, try 25, and she typed it in , but added several cents over, which I let her know, and it didn t work of course, if it needs to be exactly what s on the card, it won t be 25.28 it will be 25 she told me I don t have time for this, figure it out/ the amount and left back to her section. Did she mean I needed to figure out how to do her job of processing a payment ?? She eventually comes back, I still don t have my food order anyways, and says I m doing 20 and types it in and passes my giftcard, essentially, forcing me to loose the rest of the money on the giftcard and pay the extra money despite it being on the giftcard. Then she even tried to insist I tip her! When she 1) not only did not take my order, but 2) had been so rude, angry and loud when essentially it s not the customers fault that their payment machines work the way they do! Why does this employee take out her frustrations on the customer? Plus, you may think she was stressed because it was busy, there was just two tables in her section, whereas the other two waitresses had 3-5 tables in each their sections, so she was the least busy and her coworkers were super nice, but she certainly wasn t . I don t understand why they sell gift cards if that s the way they treat you when you go to use it. Also, if the amount is essential to know make sure it s written on the card when you sell it.

Went in for breakfast the first time after years of walking by. Was not disappointed. The food tasted really good and very well portioned. Good service as well. Definitely coming back.

I do like the place,I have been there several times,but lately the waitress are taking advantages from us, trying not to get us refills, switch plates without our permission but telling us that they dont have something instead of asking us if we want other plates, dont know, something is happening

Terrible service, I went to eat with my family when ordering the drinks, she brought us cans of drinks and not glasses, saying that the machine was damaged, but all the other tables were served using glasses, when I ordered another drink she took my can to confirm that it was empty and after that she asked me questions as if we were tourists because we spoke in Spanish, I have lived here for years and I had never felt like this. Ill never go again.

HIGHLY do NOT recommend coming to this restaurant. The server was so rude we ended up leaving before even eating and I have never done that before. We came after a flight looking for some food and the restaurant was empty so we assumed it would be okay to come in with a suitcase. The server proceeded to give us a dirty look as we walked in the restaurant and we asked if it would be ok if we came in with a luggage bag and she said a rude remark and then when we asked if we should leave she said no why would you leave now we found you a table and continued to give us a dirty look. We decided to leave as we were no longer hungry and did not want to leave a horrible tip. If you want to be treated with respect, do not eat here.

To be good it was very good, seriously burger was good, general tao was delicious but unfortunately we had to go find the waitress twice to order, also to pay and to get our starters. So far no problem even if the restaurant was empty. We understand that we all work in the restaurant business. What bothered me the most was after leaving a tip of 10$ on a bill of 150, which is reasonable for the service we had, that she made me pass for a cheap and told me that I didnt have enough to give her that she was paying 8%! Its not my problem, its customer service. So the tip works depending on the service given! If I had known, I wouldnt have left a cent!

Beware, twice, old menu scam. Check your bill. It is maybe 2$ or 3$, but it is not honest. Change your menus!

What a terrible place. The food is good and thats about it. I gave it 3 chances and it went down in 3 strikes. Would take too long to explain 3 different experiences with staff and drunk native american girl who just took fries out of my plate. Deserves 1 star

Hello, I have been going to lunch at Nickels for some time and today I wanted 1 egg turned and 1 egg since it says in the menu that we can have our eggs the way we like them. In short, the waitress (owner?) tells me that its impossible because the cook doesnt want to do it. So I had to pay an extra half dollar to get an extra egg on another plate. Is this normal? Plus they put extra egg on the same plate. Can you explain the logic to me?

Montreal meets meat poutine some superb foods.

We stopped here for brunch before heading to the airport. Our server was very polite and attentive. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and Ive never seen one that stuffed. It was delicious and very filling.

Stopped in for the first time with a couple of friends. I ordered a medium smoked meat and they ordered lean. The food was quite tasty It wasn t until we were already eating that we realized that my sandwich was lean and my friend s sandwich was medium. When the waiter came around, we pointed it out. The waiter responded. it was OK though? and he shrugged. What kind of response is that? we won t be heading back.

A general review, a Yes go there good food When I went there, it was 1 hour before closing, so I wasnt expecting it to be super good. But I was wrong the food was made very well and It was very good. Everything about it was great. The service was good. Nothing was wrong. I got my food, and they were very nice The place is very beautiful with a very modern and old look mixed together. Been years since I last went to Nickels. Good was good and they had a lunch special with soup and dessert.

This is the second time Ive been to this restaurant, the first time everything was very good. Today on the other hand, I was really disappointed with the service. The very unpleasant attitude of the waitress of the Golden Age made us poorly digest the good food of the restaurant. Damage!

I absolutely love the food here. It is hands down one of the best places I have ever had breakfast. The staff are all very friendly as well, with 1 exception. One of the waitresses there was very rude to me when I asked (politely) if I could have a refill of my coffee. I will be returning but I will always ask for a different waitresses from now on if I get her again.

Always hit and miss with this place. You either get served quickly or not at all. This past Sunday after a fifteen minute wait we got up and left. The only acknowledgement we got from the waitress was when she told us she was busy as she walked by our table. She was busy, but what confused us most is that there was another waitress standing by the door to exit the mall sweeping and talking to a customer. A busy boy standing at the front and another employee walking between the front of the restaurant and the bar with some cutlery. None seemed to be interested in helping the person who was suppose to serve us. If someone had just helped bring some water and food to the waiting tables, things would had been different for us and other people who were waiting as well. Shame since the food is pretty good there.

Great local place for a quick bite and wont break your budget!

Dined in for the first time here and wasnt very impressed. I got a milkshake and a Philly steak sandwich. Milkshake was disappointing it was basically an $8 chocolate milk with whipped cream. It had no thickness, and very little if any ice cream. Philly steak sandwich had very little meat and wasnt worth even close to its $17 dollar price tag. The balcony was closed even though it was a beautiful 28 degree sunny day which is the original reason we stopped here! Overall disappointing experience, the waitress was nice and the overall atmosphere was pretty good but the food fell flat!
