Modern Japanese eatery offering fresh sushi and healthy food options
I love Ryu, in fact it’s the only restaurant in which I eat when I go to the airport because I care about the quality of food I put in my body and I know their ingredients are responsibly sourced. Im writing this as I’m sitting in the plane. I am eating … well I was eating until I found my salmon full of thin black hair . I’m grossed out , what is this, this is unacceptable? Why am I paying for? I’m very disappointed, I don’t know if I will return. This is not sanitary .
$30 for 11 small pieces of sushi, not very fresh tasting and soya sauce was rancid.
Nice fresh food options. Seems to have the most fresh and healthy food in this section of the airport. $58 later …. 🙄. Got a prepackaged salmon and salad dish ($32), small fresh fruit bowl ($9), GF muffin ($6) and two bananas ($4). Long day already and another long flight ahead hence the splurge.
The most expensive poke bowl ever. Coming in at $27 with tax for the basil salmon. I was real desperate for some raw fish so I decided to get it here. Service was alright. The lady was a bit rude, but I get it - she was busy. Also they moved spots so go down to Gate 80 to find them
The sushi really hits the spot when all you've eaten all week is bar food and poutine. Considering where it is located, the service is not completely awful and the quality is acceptable. Definitely money well spent to get some umami and rice before a long flight home.
Quick stop to get a variety of snacks or meals. They even have charcuterie to go. They have things like wraps, poke bowls, energy shots, chips, popcorn, smoothies, etc. The sushi was very fresh around early lunchtime. No complaints and delicious for airport sushi. Also a nice selection.
Well the big problem is airport price 🙄 Poke classic 24$ Smoothie acai 13$ Yep, that's the worst part.. I knew what i was getting into... i like to try new things, but there is no big wow factor, it's just ok. It's not a huge bowl, but it's ok. But it misses a little sauce that would give it a wow factor. It's prepared up front, I had no wait time. Tuna seems fresh as with all other vegetables. For the smoothie.... there Is more affordable elsewhere in the airport and can't give stars for it.
I'm so happy that in the airport has sushi bar and I can eat my favorite kind of food before flying. Set of sushi and rolls is the right potion, I also have poke with salmon and add more of seaweed. Freshii is refreshing drink make me awake. One more thing they have vegetarian option too. One of my friends was so glad she can have the same type of food with us.
Just spent 42$ for a juice and 10-piece sushi and he refused to give me a bag because he didn t charge me 0.35$. Nuts
Old pasta fused with the cardboard, salmon so dry... the dishes are beautiful and EXPENSIVE but its a waste of food
$6 for an industrial muffin, what a scam...
Virtually impossible to get service in French.
poor value, food was tasty but about 2x the cost of an expensive poke place in the city.
It s nice to be served by someone so sweet and kind!! Thank you!!
I just paid $40 for a poke bowl and a Coke Zero. That was the least satisfying, most insulting portion of food I ve ever been served. I wouldn t even call that an appetizer. Unreal.
Expensive and not very good. Few vegetarian options
Edible sushi, but it is way overpriced for the quality.
Acai smoothie was just ok
This was a welcome sight!! So nice to see fresh sushi in the airport. A little expensive but the sushi was pretty decent.
They used a wrong soya source for the sushi..... Only salt nothing else which gives a bad test of the sushi. The sushi itself is not that bad
Don t order Bagel and turkey egg breakfast, really didn t look or test like the picture they advertised, they put chopped boiled egg instead scrambled egg, and they two dry turkey slide on it. It was very annoying to eat because all the eggs will drop out like snow flakes. They have nothing on this to hope for egg, no cheese or mayo or something. Also don t order the egg and cheese wrap. They cost it s so pricey for what they offer. McDonald s breakfast will beat them
Expensive.
Food was okay but overpriced. Manager harassed and Berated employees. She also had questionable opinions on European facism post word war 1. Decent vegetarian options if thats your thing.
I got food poisoning from this location. I got the salmon poke bowl, me and my gf ate from the same bowl however I was the only one to eat the salmon. 2 days later I have stomach pain, diarrhea, high fever. Hospital ran tests and they confirmed it s Campylobacter. You get this from eating Raw meats. I m very disappointed and there needs to be a quality check on their fish.
Sushi tastes barely okay. Overly priced normal sushi Be ready to spend $25-$35 on something that s not worth $10 Food : 1/5
No wonder why customers are avoiding this restaurant: the waitress is playing loud awkward Arab music on restaurant speakers. Horrible experience.
Fast, efficient. The coffee is better than Starbucks and the staff is much nicer. If you are flying US from YUL avoid Starbucks.
The avocado sushi and the poke bowl are excellent! I recommend and will come back to eat at Ryu the next time Im in the Montreal airport. Just surprise to eat spicy mayonnaise. The staff was nice and smiling!
It always good to have fresh sushi at the airport. I honestly would recommend to visit at least one of their restaurent in town but overall it was a great experience. The fish was french and the choices were interesting . Their poke bowls are good
Too expensive
The price of a smoothie is $13 & a scoup of protien, $5 extra. The cup is only a medium size & the smoothie was like water & not thick like Booster Juice. In comparison, a booster juice is much more, thicker lather and a scoop of whey protien is only $1 extra.
I come here everytime Im at the airport a nice smoothie before my flight sitting down on their comfy seats with charging plugs away from the crowds. last time I had the acai berry smoothie. this time I had the green healthy kale smoothie. I like the taste of the berry one more, but I love the green look of the kale. hehe. $14 for a smoothie. standard airport prices.
I mean, its not really any worse than most airport food in Canadian airports, but it just reminds me that all Canadian airports need to seriously step up.
I had the pre-packaged volcano burrito. It was very fresh and packed with well seasoned raw fish and veggies. It came with two different sauces for dipping. The price was crazy ($21), but after exploring both domestic and international terminals, I believe this was the best place to eat. Lots of food options and lots of comfy seating.
The sushi is bland and texture less. The Miso soup had a mushroom base (not listed on the menu) and rubbery tofu.
Spicy Salmon Roll is amazing and the rice they used for the sushi actually tasted pretty authentic for me, I would
The food was okay but very expensive, a sushi and a drink cost me $40. The waiter was friendly, but the Japanese chef was rude. When I went to pay for my sushi, I found that my doll was wet. Upon checking, I found that the sushi box was dripping water. The cashier asked me if I wanted a bag after seeing this and informed the Japanese female chef (who seemed to be the owner) that my sushi box was wet. When the Japanese chef came over, she was very mean and glared at me, speaking to me in a rude tone. I didnt quite understand what she was saying. I believe that good service is paramount, so it was a bad experience for me.
Excellent gluten-free products, from muffins to cinnamon bread (cinnamon)
The worst experience in Montreal airport. Extremely expensive for a very low quality old food.
The food was good given the price as expected at an airport but the person taking our order at the counter couldnt be more disengaged and borderline rude. They were on their phone playing a game while taking orders or rudely answering a customers questions. Not really the experience I would want customers or visitors to Canada to have.
Love that I can get a Poke bowl at the airport. Only thing I d change is add more options for a base. White rice not so great part!
Had the poke bowl, spicy tuna Was actually well made, decent amount of tuna, actual size was decent , Guy making them was very polite and helpful. Was overpriced , but considering its in the secure zone at the airport, its not that bad , well its my second time and the size of the bowl is half of what it was a month ago, you can see the fu...ig bottom
Utterly terrible service. Waiting 15 minutes for a bagel that was never given to me. The girl at the till didn t know how to do a refund. I almost missed my flight waiting for them. Go somewhere else
Very good poke bowls. However, they are really very expensive.
The takeout sushi is better than 90% of Montreals mid-range sushi. Ive tried the entire city to come to this conclusion.
Absolute waste of money. Got two smoothies from them and they were awful! Both smoothies tasted like the ingredients were freezed for ages among other food, it smelked and tasted like poor quality very old freezed stuff. none of us could drink.
Terrible overpriced smoothie and stale pastries
Loved the turkey bacon wrap they had there, there was a handsome manager named Rathies that recommended me to try it, and the smoothie that Anam made was delicious. Thanks guys for the Amazing service.
Its hard to find decent food at the airport. The sushi was very fresh and tasted amazing. They have some amazing poke bowls and sushi. Its a casual grab and go spot, a bit pricey Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian poke bowls and sushi
I used to have a good experience here but it seems like the quality is down. Small poke bowl and the smoothie also is half the size it used to be, but still $14. Expensive!
Decent food, friendly staff usually
Food is bad, prices are high. Would really not recommend.
Such a nice change from gross pre-packaged sandwiches and pub style food! The sushi was amazing and a very reasonable price for the quality. So happy this place is in the airport :) the spicy salmon roll was my favorite!
The poke bowl was good despite the price of $23 but the saleswoman today was not cordial, no hello or thank you, service to be reviewed
..not Ryu. Don t know what else to say.
Forgot my order, obviously gave it to me late, the rice in my « classic poke » was ice cold, the bowl small, the price high, the tuna was shredded while frozen not the Ryu standard we are accustomed to downtown Montreal.
Expensive and disappointing. The very small poké that was served to me, with products that were not fresh and tasteless, and filled with a disgusting mayo sauce. Big disappointment.
$24 for a subpar pokebowl with barely any fish and $5 for a watery, flavourless tea. Definitely skip out on this place. Not worth you time or money.
I took the ready-to-eat sushi from the refrigerated counter. Nothing extravagant, just ok, an interesting option for a light, quick meal.
Cook sat on his phone for 10mins before even looking at the order ticket. Then took another 15mins to stand around talking to the other staff. When I asked for an update on my order, it was just sitting on the counter, finished, but not brought out. Staff was rude and condescending when I asked for my food. Plenty of other places in the airport to spend $30 on an entree and not be treated like garbage. Wanted to ask for a refund but didnt feel like having eyes rolled at me again.
You know how much pokebowls are here? About 25$ Are they worth it? Absolutely not! Don t go here. You get the cheap poke bowl, similar to sushi shop but for twice the price. You get a bad service with cashier who doesn t look at you and really doesn t give two hoots about basic politeness. Stay away- this really is not worth your hard earned money
Only severing poke bowl... $24
Vegetarian options: A delicious kale, peach, banana and coconut milk smoothlie was a fresh, icy treat after a week of cream and pastriesand a hot 45 minutes getting through check in and security. Dietary restrictions: Smoothies offer coconut milk and almond milk options. There are vegetarian as well as salmon poke bowls and sushi.
Ryu owners, please do something. This place is a disaster. Or close it.
Not worth the money. Id order your food on board instead...
Definitely airport pricing, a few Gluten Free Options (GF Soy Sauce if you ask). Veggie Poke Bowl was good. Dietary restrictions: Have Gluten Free Options and GF Soy Sauce if you ask.
Tasty & healthy
Staff is really rude. Took 30 minutes to prepare a smoothie even the restaurant empty. Even with three people behind the counter, only one in charge of cashier AND prepare smoothie. Taste ok though. But if you really want something from here, grab and go.
I had good service here despite them about to close, they took my order and was very courteous. The smoothie was very expensive but it did taste great. The sushi was decent but overpriced. Still a good place to grab food and refreshing smoothies as every place in the airport seems to be overpriced.
slowest restaurant ever. they were supposed to open at 5 am and the person working is taking 30 minutes to open. at an airport where people have flights to catch - this in unacceptable
Excellent sushi, very tasty and well priced. A must try for those at the airport looking for a nice meal.
Put No cheese in sushi! Horrible, still hungry but impossible to eat. And soya sauce too sweet
Food are fresh, service are good.
The Salmon Basil Poke bowl was well-balanced with a good mix of fruit and grain. All bowls were served with chopsticks. The soy sauce seemed sweeter than most which worked well with the bowl.
A1 customer service. I asked for no plastic utensiles or excessive packaging, so they improvised and served my food on a sushi plate. Beautiful and enviro. (Tea was ordered before from elsewhere) Ordered the salmon cream cheese bagel and it was good.
As far as airport food goes, it s nice having a sushi bar like Ryù at YUL. The menu is a bit disappointing, however, with no combo options and just short lists of rolls, sashimi, and appetizers. Still, sushi is great pre-plane food and I m down.
literally disgusting. workers are rude and use their phones while making your food.
Good poké bowl and fast service. But the large piece of avocado that was in my salmon poké bowl was pretty old and not fresh. There s no way the sushi master / chef preparing the bowl didn t notice this.
Great service great staff great decor
Its hard to slice sashimi so thin and charge so much for it.
For airport sushi I was very surprised! It helps out very well!!
I was the second one in line and I had to wait at least 35 min to get toast and coffee ...
Still good but portion size got smaller. Anyways seems to be the healthier choice in that section of the airport even if it can be a little expensive.
Delicious healthy food, props to the very kind women who made our food and single-handled the shop at this time of the morning. Loved it!
The green smoothie was almost $10, but tasted pretty good. The quinoa poke bowl was by far the worst poke bowl Ive had, even thought it was $20. I normally dont need to add soy sauce but it needed something to moisten the grains and offer some semblance of flavor. The ingredients were not particularly fresh nor tasty (fish, mango, etc.). The offerings sound great but dont deliver on the promise even at those prices. Next time Im at Montreal airport, Ill make sure to pick something edible in the city.
Great fresh food although menu not as large as it first suggests. Pretty pricey but the everything in an airport is
Only place where you can get non-greasy options at the USA gate section. Sells sushis and pokebowls. Overpriced as usual at the airport.
One of a few healthful options at the departure lounge area. Delicious food but small portions and airport-pricey.
I cant believe how little fish they put on this 18-dollar bowl. $20 tax included.
By far the worst watered down açai bowl I have ever had. They only no toppings other than banana. Save your money and go elsewhere
Food is about standard. I guess could find something better at this price in airport. Not suggest to pay Tips. I tipped the servers, but wasn t getting any services.
Brand new Ryu sushi at the airport. Still breaking in but very nice menu and really good!!!
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sushi here. We ordered three rolls which were made to order. They were quite good and we will definitely stop by here when were in this airport again.
The staff were helpful with finding me something vegan to eat (surprisingly difficult at YUL). I got the veg Poké. I was still hungry after but beggars cant be choosers and also I was really really hungry. It tasted quite good so happy to give 5 stars
If you want to eat fresh food at the airport Ryu is the spot.
a must before my flights! super nice staff! the poke bowls are divine! costs! generous!
Service was terrible, cashier on duty was not helpful or friendly. I was there around 5:30PM on a Wednesday, and the only items they were making fresh were poke bowls or spicy tuna rolls. Other option was pre-packaged sushi rolls. I ended up getting one of those along with a snack for the plane. Snack pack had no price tag, but I figured it would be about $5-6. Only after I got settled in on the plane did I look at my receipt and they had charged me $9 for this teeny thing, plus it was labeled coleslaw on the receipt. Definitely NOT going back here. Way better options in the terminal.
If like Sushi, this place is good!!!!
Stood for 5 minutes with a box of sushi while the cashier was preparing something. Put it down and went elsewhere for dinner - poor customer service.
Extremely overpriced the only reason why this place is surviving is because of the lack of choices in the American terminal
Tiny acai bowl, deeply unsatisfying. Runny and very skimpy on the toppings. Looks nothing like the display pictures. Has a good selection of foods compared to other airport choices, but such a small serving that I need to find something else anyway.
The best place to eat Sushi and Ramen
Yes I liked it but definitely over priced even for airport standards. The US/transborder side of the airport it severly lacking in choices so I guess they get away with it. On the other hand, the spicy tuna on salad was enjoyable. Certainly spicy, tasted fresh, nice sauce provided, and I was all about those greens. Edemame, seaweed and fresh avocado was cut on the spot for my salad. One of my more enjoyable eats at the airport and I pass through here all the time. Great low carb option.
Best airport food you will ever find. High end restaurant quality food
Sushi are good, but decor and service are far behind the downtown location. Also: when will we stop being served food in plastic??
Terrible attitude. They have a menu with interesting choices but they wont make them. One lady said she only did bowls and would only do rolls when the fish is done. Had some pre-made boxes made hours earlier with pretty much the most boring selection.
