New resturant in Duncan ...Yay as we never had a choice before with Chinese food. The decor inside is quite nice , super clean and best of all , staff here are awesome !! The food is delicous with very ample portions. I was surprised at how busy they are being such a new location. Parking is easy and being located right between subway and triple O....makes navigation super easy and relaxing.
Ordered curried beef hotpot. Very little beef and Chinese vegetables. Dish was overwhelmed by potatoes and tofu. I'm a hotpot aficionado. This was the worst ever.
The food is awful! We ordered 7 dishes, several were inedible. Smelled and tasted like they were melted in a bag of plastic. We couldn’t get over the burnt plastic smell. It was in the car and when we opened the food, it was overpowering. Like the dishes were cooked IN plastic! Worse than Chinese from a shopping mall. Nothing about this was authentic. The ginger pineapple chicken dish was the only decent dish that was somewhat fresh. Everything else was the equivalent of dog food. In fact, that’s where our $160 meal went … Wouldn’t even recommend this to my worst enemy
Delicious Hot and Sour soup. Great service, very friendly, attentive, and helpful. Large portions.
To start, as you walk in, you see all the beautiful decor and alot of it handmade by the owner i heard! Really sets up the ambience for a great dinner. Then you get to the food, amazing portions delivered by great servers with fun energy (shoutout to shelly!!) kind and cosiderate service! Please do yourself a favor and try the ginger beef!! Thanks for reopening closer and in such a fun location! Will bring my friends whenever we pass through!
Finally! Had lunch today at Dragon Yuan. Did not disappoint. We had our favorite 3 regular dish plus springs rolls. The food was delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. We will be back. Thank you!
We ordered take out on the third day of them being open at the new location at the Cowichan Commons. Wait times were over an hour due to high excitement which is amazing! The staff was calm and friendly whilst dealing with non-stop orders. We ordered the Chicken Chow Mein and Breaded Almond Chicken. The chicken was hot, fresh and crispy with the right amount of batter. The chow mein was hot and tasty for Western Chinese food. I think the prices are right in line for what you get for great portions. It was worth the wait!
First time trying it. I had high expectations since I seen multiple people say it was the best Chinese food in the valley. I have to greatly disagree. Sweet and sour pork has a nutmeg flavor or something, it's overpowering. The chow mein had a sour taste to it and the onions in it were raw which overpowered the little flavor the noodles had. The prawns had good flavor, but should be packaged separately due to them becoming soggy when packaged with other hot food. Beef and broccoli had very little flavor and the broccoli was solid and raw... Didn't seem cooked at all. Almond chicken was very tender and juicy. Overall, it was disappointing unfortunately.
Poor vegetarian options. No tofu substitutions.
I dont know didnt get to try. Went in to make order told it wouldnt be able to for 2 hrs
The staff where very friendly and accommodating. The food seemed to be a bit bland and the combos where very small. Or there boxes used where too big lol either or. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
amazing service servers were really nice!
2 hours for a pick up order... No thanks. Well go elsewhere.
Weve been there twice and gotten the combination plate and the quality was great every time. Would definitely recommend.
Best chinese food in the valley
I just want to say that the restaurant provided a wonderful gluten-free meal. It was delicious. They tailored the meal to our specific needs, and we really really appreciated it.
Over priced and pretty much the worst Chinese food I ve ever had. Dried out sweet and sour pork with No sauce. Tasteless Chow mien. Dry fried rice. The fortune cookie told me to stay away.
We got delivery as ot doesnt have a dine in option. The egg rolls were a disappointment. Just cabbage inside. The rice was dry. The beef and brocolli was good. The egg food young was good. But I love the people who work here. Food was just underwhelming this visit
Best Chinese food in the valley. Take out only.
March 2022: Sweet and sour pork was more disappointing than my first marriage. Flavourless and watered down. Come on! Sweet and sour pork is THE staple of any chinese food restaurant place. Chow mein was on the dry side and also lacking flavor. $39 for two lack luster dishes. Go into duncan for better chinese food
Dont miss the buffet, I think the food is actually better very good well worth it
De-friggin-licious every time.
Gross food. Supposedly the Wontons were made fresh, but they tasted like they d been frozen and had a foul aftertaste. No beer on tap. Couldn t even make me a ceaser. Service was ok. Overall not impressed
Best Chinese food in Duncan
Another delicious meal. My favorite restaurant.
Always great service dine in or take out almost as good as the food a must try!!!
Food great, fresh! Waitress, friendly, helpful, understanding! Manager (red head) mean, impatient! I guess it s hard to find good help Food : 5/5 |
Food was delicious staff was sweet
Have been going here for years, definitely enjoyed the buffet when it was available. .but changed since the beginning of Covid Always enjoyed the Orders to Go along with either wings or wonton, both very good. Great staff, consistent and they know their stuff. Sorry they or closing later this month, but hopefully they will find a new spot in Duncan.
Very clean and good food.
Best Chinese food in the valley come and get it!!!!!!!
So disappointed in our dinner last night....hardly any flavour and breading was mushy......before covid it was yummy.....different cooks? Cutting corners??? When we called to share our concerns not even a suggestion of a discount, just would share it with the owners.....sorry never going back
We frequented this restaurant regularly, basically weekly, with full family and always enjoyed the food and service before Covid hit. After 2 years, we thought were overdue for a good treat, or so we thought but still not open to the public, we decided on takeout. And, I have to honestly say, it definitely falls in the top worst meals I had the misfortune of eating (which we didnt). Chicken balls and prawns were over coated and were very pasty, the chow mein was so onioney, it was not eatable and lastly, the vegetable chop suey was all brocalli. Oh, and the sweet n sour sauce was just bad. Dont know what happened to this once good eatery but it sure has gone down hill....all the way down! Sorry but being truthful.
Im from Vancouver so maybey not fair to compair to what Im used to but we found it very bland and boring. For the price you pay it did not feel like there was any love or quality. Almost like they dont taste there own food. Nice staff very friendly as per the 2 stars otherwise I would have gave it a 1 star. Sorry but Im brutally honest with my Google reviews about food.
The best tasting healthiest Chinese food in the valley
September 2022, still no dine in.
Open up soon
Food is very tasty! Not greasy, no MSG that I could discern and serving size good. A bit pricey but only a bit. During covid thay are take out only. Service 4 - 8.
Due to the Covid restrictions not allowing us to eat in the restaurant we have ordered take out twice now as a treat and both times has been terrific
We have enjoyed the food here from the first day they opened. Always consistent, very tasty and lovely staff. Thank you.
This is fantastic food, sizeable portions and great service. It is such a treat to have this restaurant so close to Cowichan Bay. I cant say enough about their breaded almond chicken, everything they make is delicious!
Simply fabulous, great food, great value and good service
Delicious little gem, enjoyed the food.
Have the Best crispy won ton in town
We have been pretty impressed with their take out food eversince me moved to the area, better than expected and great service. Its been pretty consistent up until our last order which was very disappointing - I d rather wait for as long as it takes as supposed to coming home with UNDERCOOKED food (deep fried prawns and almond chicken were soft and not crispy at all, you can tell by the colour as well that it was rushed). Also noticing that the combo portions are a bit less than usual. Consistency is the key to keeping customers. We will probably give it another try and hope not to disappoint again.
Great. Service
Wonderful food....reasonable prices.
The waitress gave me my bill before I was even done eating or anything. Poor service in general.
Ive eaten here several times! Friendly staff, fair prices, excellent quality and portions also Vegan options!
Its always an awesome experience when we come, the ladies are full of smiles and conversations.
Very good food. The staff is friendly.
Delicious. Great service, clean atmosphere. I will return..
The taste, mixed with the beautiful memories of the past, has different layers and five flavors, and it is a rare happiness in this world.
I gave it 2 for trying, service is great, etc. As far as Chinese food goes, Id have to say, I was more than surprised that there didnt seem to be any Asian flavors in the food. My hope, (and not just for this restaurant,) Is that they try and not batter and deep fry everything. If you try to batter and deep fry a lot of dishes on your menu , you will have a limited clientele. Just sayin,
Decent food, Szechuan meatballs are really good. Good option for takeout in the area. Solid buffet, hopefully they bring it back post-COVID
when i dont feel like cooking i get a take out !! usually once a week always enjoy the food
Ok but to much westernized food not traditional
Great food !
Awesome food. Great service. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Kid friendly staff. Cool pictures on the walls and a very clean, heathy fish tank. A regular stop for me.
The first thing my husband and noticed when we walked in was how overwhelmed the hostess was. Once we were seated it was easy to see why. The wait staff had no organization and the confusion was palpable making it difficult to get basic water refills or extra utensils without having to get up from the table and find an available staff member. The food wasn t much better. 4/5 of our party members had the buffet. The green beans tasted of chemicals, the coating on the ginger chicken was soggy and sliding off the meat, and the spring rolls were honestly disgusting. The one party member who ordered from the menu seemed to have a decent meal, but it s hard to say if it was good as the bar was set quite low. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant for its food, but if you re looking for a nice bathroom to use than this is the place.
Awesome buffet resonable prices dont forget to check out their special chinese new year buffet it should be experienced
Best Chinese restaurant in the Cowichan Valley!
Great buffet! Service was very good. Traditional background music a bit on the louder side. Overall, a great choice for Chinese food smorgasbord.
Great buffet. Awesome iced tea
Service was great, tea was hot, food was only warm, and quality was only meh.
Love this place. Very nice staff and awesome food.
Great food!
Good Food
Underwhelming is how I would describe it. There were 7 people in our party, so we ordered quite a few dishes... The chicken chow mein was dry and flavourless. The sauce on the sweet and sour pork was so watery I thought this must be a mistake. Other dishes were much the same. The lone bright spot was the beef with broccoli which was delicious. Also, the staff were courteous and friendly, so hats off to them.
Poor selection, quality was poor, chicken wings looked like pigeon wings.
Always a good Buffet,a bit too Canadianized for my liking though(sweet n sour especially). Awesome prawns and wings and friendly staff.
Good local Chinese
Very yummy
So yummy
Tasty Buffet. Seems to be very popular for take out.
My first choice if Chinese Buffett is desired
Great food and the kids loved it
Good buffet for the family.
Good variety of food to choose from and the staff are very friendly
Service good, food not the best
Perfect
We ordered take out and it tasted great we planned on going back again, until we found a maggot in our food. Will not be returning.
Love this place. Love the tempura prawns. Nice art too.
Probably the best buffet in the Cowichan valley.
Nice clean restaurant with great wait staff. Good fresh Asian cuisine. Always a good experience.
Worst Chinese food i ever had. The buffet was cold, greasy and poor selection. Never go back.
We have been a few times, always have the buffet. We really enjoy the food. Never busy is nice. I think its time to order from the menu. Only Chinese food we will eat in the Cowichan Valley so far.
great buffet
Best Chinese in Cowichan Valley.
Good food very busy for Friday night.
Best Chinese food in Duncan area.
Decent place, try the buffet
Nice place for lunch and dinner
Was a good place to eat, awesome service, the waiter was good
Friendly and efficient staff. Buffett filled regularly. Good selection in Buffett and in menu.
OK...
Ok at times
Good clean food
Went out with our entire family. The buffet was awesome. The restaurant was very clean and the decor was great. Large round table sat us all and we were able to enjoy great conversation. Items available for the buffet were amazing and the kitchen did a great job keeping items topped up and warm. Staff was very friendly and kept up with drinks and clearing plates. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and food!
Most of the buffet dishes were luke warm rather than hot. We went at 5pm.
Ordered take out a few times and it s always way longer than quoted on the phone.. hire more people Vs providing crappy service.
Good buffet of the foods.
Good food in a nice atmosphere
Ordered off the menu, food was hot and delicious. We ordered things that were not on buffet. Enjoyed it very much. Cost was about even with what we would have spent at the buffet
Lots of fun for the family. Great staff and really good Chinese!
Good food at a good price
Buffet: way over priced. quality was questionable, and selection was pretty ordinary. It would be nice to see something other then sweet and sour pork and wings on the buffet line up. I cant say any of the dishes stood out in any way nor did they have me coming back for more. If i do return it wont be for the buffet.
the best chinese food ever the buffet on friday saterday cost a lil more but omg is it good and the dinner for one is great as well with a nice glass of tsing toa beer it is beautiful and the staff are verrrryy nice
Food was good, as well as the service...we were seated very quickly. We had our drinks right away.. I gave this only 4 stars because it is a bit pricey. With the tip it was 50 for 2, and all we had was the buffet. A large pop, and a small pop. It was $18 and change per person for the buffet. This will not be a place I go a lot... Not because of the food.. But the price.
Always friendly and good food
Meh. Chinese food was kind of greasy (like more so than regular Chinese food) and had a bit of a weird flavor.
The food was great and the service was very good.As the power was out in the area everyone seemed to show up at this restaurant.Somehow they seemed able to keep up with the demand.Well done.
Went to this restaurant twice. The first time was for Wor wonton soup and a bowl of hot and sour soup. It wasnt great but was passable. Ten days later went again for the Wor wonton soup and was very disappointed, must have been a different cook but a lack of different ingredients and flavour spoiled the soup. We also ordered a plate of Kung Pao chicken which was on the spicy side but edible and tasty. We put in an order for a take out at this time of five items, Spring rolls, Dragon Special FRied Rice, Prawns with Black Bean Sauce, Honey Garlic Pork, and another Kung Pao Chicken. WHAT A SHOCK LATER, The only ones that were good were the Spring rolls, and the Prawns with Black Bean sauce, even though there was a major lack of PRAWNS. The rest was all CRAP. No FLAVOUR, NO GARLIC, NO SPICE IN kUNG PAO CHICKEN, IT WAS BLAND AND TASTELESS AND UNEATABLE. There went a pile of money down the drain. This place should not be in business, they wouldnt last three months in any major city in this country. I would never go back to this restaurant and hopefully you people out there get the message and stay away.
Always good food at a decent price. My kids love the fish tank seating.
The food is a little oily and the flavouring is actually a little blander than traditional American-Chinese dining. The Hot and Sour soup was a little off as well. It was filling but not what I have come to expect of Chinese dining. The restaurant was clean and had good sections allowing for larger groups or different styles of diners to be sectioned off. They have multiple TVs up playing sports for the most part. There are some screens which they use to create more privacy between diners. The overall colouring is rich reds and browns. There are paper lanterns and a large ornamental cloth dragon hanging from one wall. Bathrooms were clean. Staff were friendly but clearly there was a lack of people in the kitchen as both take out and in restaurant orders were delayed. Parking was good, as it is part of a large strip mall. Overall an ok meal but not a recommendable one.
The food is fresh but not very authentic. The vegetables in dishes were very fresh. The buffet was good however very modest.
I always enjoy coming here. Great service and a good buffet.
Great food, great service
The food was good. The only downfall is they put too much MSG so that you will feel sick and dont want to go back for another round on their buffet.
South Cowichan Valleys best Chinese restaurant; the only other option is Monkey King in Mill Bay and its awful. Food is decent, but not the greatest. When ordering for pick up, make sure you receive everything you ordered because theyve been known to miss items from time to time. The buffet isnt huge, but has the expected dishes. The various seating options (groups/private areas) is nice. Check out the fish tank too, its interesting.
Best..fresh Chinese cuisine ever....oil must be changed daily or close to it.
Good food, nice atmosphere, clean
The buffet is pretty good especially when it starts and the food is hot and fresh, but you have to chow a lot to get your $20 worth. Staff is slow to keep your drinks refilled and your plates cleared.
Good tasting buffet. Not much selection.
Fresh hot tasty food, went in after work, and staff seemed bit discriminatory, but I enjoyed every bite. Would have been nice to have refills, would have gotten another star for that. Of you like tasty food food, check this place out!!
Not happy with food. And Wait Staff Slow and Rude. Never will we eat there agian.
Best Chinese food and great service
The food is alway fresh and hot and very good ,I always recommend the restaurant to my friends ,nice staff and the food is very affordable
Raw chicken, expensive, bleh! Stay clear.
Only have been here once, so it is hard to post a review. The food was very good, but a little on the pricey side. The restaurant was clean and the servers were pleasant. What more could you ask for, right? Their chef(s) need to learn that they can prepare a dish without the use of flavor enhancers such as monosodium glutamate (MSG). A good chef knows how to do this and it is an absolute shame when they feel inclined to use it. So sad to enjoy a nice Chinese dinner, then suffer the consequences later.
Food was pretty good, needed more soy sauce. But the portions for the price were amazing, and the staff were super nice, I have a peanut allergy and they were very accommodating.
Hit or miss. Sometimes the food is fine and sometimes the food is literally rotten. Once we had to throw out a whole take out order because the food was rotten.
Great food,we stop in at lease once a week.
Mmmm that place has yummy food save every bite.
Always good food and welcome smiles from the staff. Never had a bad experience in all the years we have eaten here. Good prices, good food.
Friendly service. Very good food. Good value for cost.
