I went there with my friend today at 8 pm knowing that the restaurant will close 9pm .after we order the food the waitress came and told us we need to leave the restaurant at 8 .25. The food almost came at 8.10 so we dont get enough time to enjoy our food and drink.she was very rude to us.food was average thats fine for me .but these kinds of behaviors will ruin your business.

Today 8 pm I went to heritage restaurant with my friends, Totally we are disappointment because that waiters very attitude and those food is not authentic taste very worst taste , Restaurant closing time 9 o clock pm mentioned in Google and front of restaurant door also but they told us to leave the restaurant very early like 8.25 I never suggest to others like this kind of restaurant

Hi, Great curries, we had the Butter chicken combo which comes with Dai Makkina or any veggie dish as well as a soft drink and rice with naan bread. Everything was great but the naan was greasy, I think they coated it with oil instead of Gee?? But overall, very good Butter chicken!

First time trying this restaurant and truly enjoyed every bite! The Naan bread was amazing! We moved from Surrey, with an Indian restaurant on every corner so weve tried a lot, this is by far the best

Everthing was great.

Stopped in for lunch, the place was empty (first bad sign). The place had a foul smell, not like Indian food, more like a gas station bathroom. I stood at the counter/bar for some time (was about to leave) before a girl finally came out from the back to take my order. I ordered the beef vindaloo with rice, I could hear the kitchen microwaving as I sat waiting. I quickly began to realize why I was the only customer there, at lunch time . There was about 5 pieces of beef swimming in sauce and I think the rice was old, probably what was microwaved. When I went to pay the girl behind the counter charged me an extra $3.20 on my order. I just tapped my card and left but later looked at the receipt. I realized she had overcharged me, went back the next day and asked for my money back, she said the debit wasn t working and she gave me back cash . Very strange, dishonest, poor service overpriced poor quality food. I do not recommend.

Order take out from them, received spoiled chicken. Had an odd smell when I opened the container, but it didnt smell bad just different. Had two or three bites, and then realized the chicken was bad. Heres hoping I dont get sick from it. Will never return, spoiled chicken is not something that should ever be served.

Terrible. Absolutely horrendous. Used to be decent years back. Walked in during lunch time on thursday and no one was there eating. That should have told me to turn around but i gave them a shot anyways. Chicken pakora was rotten. Like literally the smell and taste of rotten chicken when i bit into it. You know that smell when you open a chicken pack thats been sitting in the fridge for too long? Ya. Disgusting. Stay away for your own health reasons. Putrid. idek how they are still open tbh.

I had to wait over ten minutes for even a glass of water after seating. The server came twice whike I was eating only to try offering more things for me to buy. The curry was mid at best. When I paid, the sever said nothing, no thank you, or how was it. Nothing, he just took the payment. No tip, of course.

Great lunch here Sunday 02 June. Bombay Prawns and Fish Curry both delicious. Killer Naan. Will be back for more. Red Arrow Piggy on draft was a bonus.

I work as a CSW for individuals with disabilities and take one individual here regularly as it is his favourite cuisine. The server Mandi is always exceptional and goes above and Beyond the food is absolutely delicious and I would recommend anyone I meet to go this restaurant.

I didn t even wanted to give this one star review but no other option anyways the girl taking the order was very rude we went there around9:10 and asked for couple of minutes very arrogantly she is said they gonna close the restaurant at 10 if order isn t placed within those 5 minutes she s not gonna take the order.

Food was delicious, but. The quality has gone down dramatically. We order the same thing all the time and this time Naan bread was half burnt to the point it just crumbled into ash, beef samosas were smaller and did not hold together. They also reduce the amount of sauces they supply with the samosas. There was less rice and the sauce was watery. I dont think Ill order again as this was expensive.

Heritage Indian Cuisine is a great restuarnt to visit if you enjoy Indian Food. Dish sizes are great and one dish can often feed two people. I enjoy coming here. The service can be a bit lacking and slow sometimes, however the staff are relatively pleasant.

Their food is exceptionally delicious! We always get the mango chicken and the coconut beef with rice and naan. Every bite is so good. Vegetarian options: Gluten and dairy free options.

This place is delicious and you get a lot. Theyre naan bread is unreal. Their service is not always the best or the friendliest, but I dont care, they can spit in my face and Ill keep coming back for that sweet sweet lamb vindaloo.

Nice looking resturant. Staff did not ask how food was or if I needed or wanted anything else. Was so excited to try the buffet after reading reviews yet after coming into town and being seated and visting buffet which was advertised (and confirmed over the phone) as meat and veggie I was super disapointed that there were 5 meat dishes and only 2 veggie dishes (a dahl and paneer not even a mixed veggie curry or aloo gobi) I asked if this was normal and was told yes and again after finding and saying that I could not eat much (2 veg dishes and plain steamed brocolli?) was still not asked if i needed/wanted anything else and never was checked in with. Dirty dishes not cleared from table and not asked or brought more Naan or even water and i was the only table there with no pickups of takeout or delivery drivers during my visit. Incredibly disapointed, do not feel value for what I received for price paid and I am not sure if I will return to be honest based on pack of service alone. If you are vegetarian I highly DO NOT recommend the buffet.

Been eating there since it opened, food was always great, lately however the service has deteriorated. Tonight we sat for over fifteen mins without even water been offered. We left for another place on Dover Rd. Will not be going back

We went to this restaurant for dinner on Sunday evening. Had to wait for nearly 10 mins to even see a server come and acknowledge us with the faintest, why are you here types of hi. We parked the car on the side and a couple of employees were at the back smoking. They did see us park and walk towards the restaurant, but just no one will come out to acknowledge us. I have heard that the food in this place is awesome, but sorry to say that the service is absolutely pathetic. I would not mind waiting for my food, but when a customer comes in, the first thing to do is to acknowledge. We walked out without having any food.

Oh man, had an excellent, succulent tandoori prawn after quite a while. Server was excellent and was anticipating all the needs without asking. The place was clean and tidy, foods were hot and nice Thali in which food was served. Well done.

We went there today for lunch. Food was delicious and the service was great as well. If anyone is visiting island you have to try this amazing place. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT.

Flavour of dishes seems to be all over the place like night a day. Lol and they all ways seem to forget the rice. When it s good it s good when it s not great it s not great. I mostly order the same thing doesn t even taste like it s from the same restaurant most the time

Was driving by this place after a week long camping trip and decided to stop by. Best decision! Their food is delicious and to order. It was so nice to have a nice warm meal after a long trip. The servers are very accommodating and make sure the food is to their liking. A hidden gem. Highly recommend!

Sadly we got ripped off, they charged us twice on the debit card, told us it didn t go through the first. Went to the bank and brought back the bank information that showed we paid twice they refused to refund our money. Be aware they are not honest people.

Blah food. Unfriendly service. This restaurant may have seen better days, but its not worth spending money there now. Sorry, that seems harsh, but I was not greeted with a smile or any friendliness. And the food was insipid. Actually, the steamed rice was OK. But the rest was just blah. Overcooked prawns, chicken and lamb. Theres another Indian restaurant in the area which is wonderful. Look, do yourself a favour, and skip Heritage. It must have been better once, but no more.

What a wonderful dinner i had today. It was amazing. Chef atul knows what he is doing. I had chicken curry with garlic naan bread. Highly recommend it

Meh....I was directed here to enjoy the very best authentic Indian food in the valley. Food was just average at best. Service (at take out), location and atmosphere was very good. Food lacked, every item I ordered was simply unremarkable (could be remarkable for some I suppose, it was good enough). Id have to recommend you visit the competition on James Street and you can make up your own mind. I wont be returning, that being said, I have been spoiled on authentic Indian food of the highest flavour and quality so my expectations are very high. Korma was bland/soupy, Naan was small, dry, tough and close to being burnt, mango lassi was short on or lacked delicious cardamom, I added my own at home. I threw the rice out.

Ive had 2 experiences with this restaurant. The 1st experence involved sharing the dining room with a family with 3 screaming babies and and 6 adults all talking loudly to be heard over the babies. During this visit the service was slow. In the second visit I ordered the large combo platter which I was told would be enough for 2 meals. . I ate a portion of the platter and then took the remainder home. The next day when I was ready to reheat the food. I noticed a bite had been taken out of the drumstick (not by me). The red dye that this restaurant uses to color its food was actually in the bite mark This made it obvious that the chicken leg had been previously returned and reused. I wont be eating there again.

Hi there Im recently visit heritage Indian cuisine restaurant and my experience is really fantastic . Im personally love korma (Lamb , chicken ) dishes and now a days I tried spinach dish which is really gud I personally try it and I like it . Here the service is fast and food is hot so I personally recommend to visit there and try some new dishes . I hope this review help someone who really love food .

Two of us have been going to Heritage Restaurant in Duncan (North Cowichan actually, but let s not get too technical) for over a year. Recently, we expanded our enjoyment to a meal at the Nanaimo location. We have found the food to be consistently good. Some of the dishes may be a bit rich for our tastes, but those would be ideal for other diners. Meals always start with complimentary papadam, a nice touch, unlike some Indian restaurants that offer papadam as a pay-for appetizer. We tend toward the non-creamy sauces, like chicken rogan, chicken vindaloo, and vegetarian choices. We habitually enjoy the garlic naan and recently tried (and enjoyed) the spinach/paneer naan. We like our food spicy. At first the servers held back a bit on the spice, but now we get a sweat up the way we like it. Sometimes we offset that with a generous portion of their raita. During the pandemic period, many restaurants look at a guest s vaccine passport. Heritage is one of the responsible restaurants that scans each passport and requires supporting ID, even for frequent guests like us. Prices are comparable to other Indian restaurants in the area. Recently Heritage added the choice of a complimentary generous serving of rice or a regular naan with each entree order. All in all, good food, prepared the way we like it, with generous servings, served responsibly. It s a combination difficult to beat.

Me and my ex fiancé ate here every payday sometimes twice in a week and it was always Phenomenal!! Well today I tried to order the same thing and could not for the life of me remember what it was called so I just agreed with the lady on the phone and when I got it I realized it was definitely not the same, they offered to replace it , aswell helped me find what it was actually called, gave me the other order and rice as I didn t order any!! Great customer service , amazing food and genuinely good people!! If your looking for high quality food THIS IS THE PLACE . Thank you guys !

The Heritage Indian Cuisine is my Favourite Restaurant in Duncan. The food is always delicious and the service is always good and friendly. I usually get the Daily Special and have never been disappointed. On other occasions I will order the Lamb Korma, or Lamb Vindaloo, Lamb Curry or Lamb Butter Masala which is one of my favourites. We always order their delicious very long grain basmati rice and the best plain naan bread made. I even tried the Goat Curry because I had never eaten goat before. It was very good and quick similar to Lamb in taste. We always order Medium but they do offer Low and Hot. When somebody asks where I want to go for lunch or dinner I always say, The Heritage Indian Cuisine Restaurant!

Went for dinner last night, Rajni, the owner greeted us with a lovely smile and a wave when we arrived, which was so nice! She introduced us to one of their new Servers, Komal who was also lovely! Rajni told us they have had lots of ups and downs with staff this past year but they are so happy with their two new servers. We asked how the community has been, she said they have been so busy all along with dine in and take out that they are so grateful to everyone that has been supporting their business as they love sharing their food with everyone. Our dinner was delicious, as always! I had the Lamb Korma and my husband had Chicken Tikka, these are our favourites and we always added Garlic Naan. The Naan was loaded with garlic and huge, freshly made and piping hot from the kitchen. Our meals, as always were so plentiful we will have enough for lunch today. The lamb was so tender it just comes apart with a fork! The chicken tikka was prepared with the perfect amount of spice for my husband who loves the heat. We were checked on several times during our visit to ensure our food and experience was good. We had cold beverages as well as water. The renovation that were done last year turned out really nice too. We left happy and full and with left overs for today. We are looking forward to our next visit. We are so happy that this restaurant in our community has made it through the past couple years, many businesses didn t. We are also happy to see the new staff fitting in and becoming part of the Heritage Family! It reminds me of the signs I have seen at several local businesses, Be kind to the ones who showed up. These folks have worked hard to keep providing good food and we appreciate them. Go out for dinner tonight and enjoy this wonderful place in our community!

Lovely family owned restaurant! Amazing food and the service is outstanding! Hands down, would definitely recommend this place to everyone. The portions are huge and leaves you with lots of leftovers.

Food was great, but the service was horrible we waited 45 minutes for water! No napkins given either not once did she ask how the food was or if we needed anything else. Also the restraunt smells horrible like urine or old run down bathroom its was hard to eat and enjoy our favorite food that we only get to enjoy once in a blue moon.

Owners are so polite and nice, and the food is always delicious. I will go back.

Delicious food

We have been coming here for several months. The food is always excellent. We order a butter chicken combo with matar paneer with extra rice and Naan. Lots of great food at a very reasonable price. My 6yo son requests that we come here so he can have thier chicken steips. The ladies are always very kind and listen to my son as he rambles on to them. We have brought several guests and will continue to do so.

So Far Ive had the butter chicken with nana garlic bread its amazing. Also tried the samosas best Ive ever had and the dipping sauce is amazing recommend both these dish promise you wont be disappointed. Cant wait to try the curry next.

Here from ireland on holiday and I wasnt sure if there was an Indian presence in the restaurant sector, I was happy to find this place was here and even happier to find the food is excellent. I would recommend this food to anybody.

We stopped there awaiting for our ferry, the last one of day to Salt Spring Island, it was an early dinner in August. Even at that time they had several tables busy and loads of delivery pickups. Yet we were not made to wait, everything was prompt, water, nan etc The blond caucasian ladys service, sorry cant recall her name, was fantastic! There seemed a great ambiance between her and the kitchen. The food was so good. We stayed longer to the last minute for the ferry and placed an additional family sized order they got going very fast. It was a takeaway to bring to our family on the island. Shrimps were crispy not over cooked. The salad crunchy and fresh. Everything memorable even now many month later. Just recalled that I hadnt left them a posting review as I just recommended it to an Indian gentlemen from a Telus service. The quantities were really nice. We I like nice filling Indian meal. We are not fan when things come in tiny pots that are like four spoons and finish. Definitely not the case there. The decor is a bit...., well, we came for the food, not for the decor. Its sort of county Diner (without the chromes) but all was clean, shiny and quite! We were two and ordered several different dishes and were nearly having a friendly quite fight over who can finish what? Wheelchair accessibility: Its flat from the sidewalk and spacious inside I am sure anyone with a wheelchair will have access.

Our party of six shared and enjoyed fabulous food at this excellent restaurant. The server, Pooja, was very nice and becoming an excellent waitress. I highly recommend the butter chicken, mango prawn, and coconut naan.

Please hold . The last 3 times I ve called immediately put on hold, and wer not talking like 3 mins . Wer talking like 30+ mins. I could understand if theyr busy but I live within walking distance so i had my friend walk over while I was on hold and place an order and walk back while I was still on hold. The food is great though. Which is why I ve waited over half hour on hold before. I m actually on hold right now as I write this review. And I would walk over to place my order but I have kids and live alone so it s hard some days to get everyone together and then come back to pick it up again.

The food portion is good. Taste can be much better. I ordered Kadhai paneer and asked them for Indian hot, but they just put the paneer in hot sauce. Im very disappointed. And in November I ordered a veg combo thali in which the pop was complimentary. However, I checked the receipt when I came back home, and they added the price for the pop, too. Please be careful and check the receipt when you pay.

A friend and I recently shared yet another excellent meal at the Heritage restaurant. Not only was the food and drinks (mango lassi and chai) of their usual high calibre of deliciousness but our lovely server, Pooja, was attentive, helpful, and kind enough to apologize more than once for the somewhat delayed service -- an entirely understandable and excusable delay because the place was packed with other hungry people, including a large Indian family as well as unrelated Indian people (which I always take to be a very good sign of high quality food!), all of us fans of this great place. So, many thanks for a wonderful meal, Pooja and culinary colleagues -- well be back for more! P.S. Another friend and I used to live in Victoria and often went to an Indian restaurant there which we and other fans of the place thought was very good -- but we agree: the Heritage is even better!

The taste of the food was so good. The right amount of flavour just a hint of heat - just perfect. Complaint - for $16.99 the beef order contained six 1inch cubes of beef in a pool of sauce and for $16.99 there was eight tiny pieces of chicken in a pool of sauce. For $5.99 there was ONE thin price of na an bread. $5.99!!! I could not believe it. Would I return? I don t think so. The order clerk was not friendly, we had to wait outside and she didn t even bother to tell us our order was ready so when we finally decided to enquire it was cold. So disappointing. The next day when my friend complained she received a complimentary order. Hmmm, what is wrong with the picture is that I came all the way up from Victoria (check the price of gas) to take my friend for Indian food and I PAID FOR THE ORDER.

Food is very GOOD, prices are only okay for what you get. If you want rice and nan, you have to buy it separate, which I dont agree with. One of the servers was very friendly and upbeat, but everyone else seemed to be in a bad mood. I ordered my food to be spicy but was served medium, there was no spice at all. I guess because Im not a specific ethnicity, they dont believe I can handle my spice? I want my SPICE!! Ive dined here multiple times because of the food, I think its worth it.

Im from Victoria, and had dinner here tonight after visiting an old friend in Duncan. First of all, my meal was absolutely fantastic. The butter chicken and aloo gobi were really delicious and among some of the best local Indian cuisine Ive had, and everything was super fresh and hot. The rice and naan were absolutely done perfectly. I did find it a little pricey, but I left with enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow so given the portion and quality I feel I got my moneys worth. Regarding the service, there was no friendly follow up to ask how my meal was, and I had to get up to ask for a water refill. But more than that, the server just didnt seem happy to be there. I actually felt a bit bad for her. I do recommend to the owner to hire staff who would be happy to work there, even just one or two experienced servers. That might even lift the spirits of the existing staff. Happy staff make for happy customers, and given the food here is already fantastic, that would make this restaurant a solid 5 star establishment. That all said, the food was good enough that I look forward to coming back on my next trip up island. I would just be relieved to be greeted by happier servers!

If you ever wanna taste an massive disservice to Indian cuisine while spending an ridiculous price for your meal this is the ideal place for you, never thought Id ever follow up an meal to an restaurant with an trip to the bathroom to vomit. the service is just wow..... its almost like they feed people garbage on purpose, their attitudes nearly match the level of STINK that they feed people... if you wanna help their scam I mean hey its your money I would just recommend ANY where else honestly. Id recommend the dumpster across the street if i had to choose between both of them.

Amazing food filled with flavour! The rice is something you could live off alone. The Paneer tikka masala is soft and savory the textures just right. We also had the tandoori platter which was incredible, the lamb was my personal favorite. All around an amazing experience with the food. In addition the staff was friendly and courteous prompt and professional. I would reccomend the establishment to anyone I know.

Hey there, the best Indian food restaurant in Duncan I ever visited. If you want to spend some quality time with your family having the delicious food this place is just for you guys. I visited in this restaurant last week with my family and I loved the quality of the food they serve and the service provided by the staff is also excellent. Some people are just trying to create a bad reputation of the restaurant by giving bad reviews. I suggest you all do not go with the bad reviews because they are doing it on purpose. Really if you want to try out variety of dishes you must go to this restaurant. Every food is good here especially paneer spinach and garlic naan you all should must try it. It is totally affordable and worth going to this restaurant because the prices are also quite reasonable. And yes the chicken combo special is just brilliant loved it I visited here last week and definitely for sure will visit again

I and my girlfriend visited Vancouver island from Calgary Alberta. I have tried many Indian food across Canada including Toronto, Montreal and Calgary. This was the best Indian food I have ever had. On top of that, the service they provide is excellent and very polite, those complementary papad was great, all the spices and flavours are aromatic, an ambiance is very peaceful which we loved. I would recommend not to forget to try those garlic naan and butter chicken. We have enjoyed our time I hope you will too.

They used to be the best in town now the prices have jumped up a lot and smaller portions. Services has also declined. Someone who was working kid was at our table touching our food once too.

My go to place whenever Im in Duncan. Rajni and her husband are great business owners and it shows in how they treat their customers. The food is consistently delicious. Never picked anything off the menu that I didnt like. A must try for sure!

Ordered Malai chicken and two garlic nun. Didnt know the portion of the chicken is enormous plus it came with rice. Too much for 1 person to finish. The mango lassi is not their strength. Couldnt find garlic in naan but it was tasty. Overall the flavor was rich. Dont order too spicy-stick to mild side if you dont want to burn your tongue.
