Payment machine tip percentages range from 20% to 30% and are difficult to change. Im not paying that much of your staff overhead, your prices are medium/high already.

Food took a while to arrive because it was so busy. Without us even asking or complaining the manager came over and told us they took 50% off our bill.

The rock music is loud and extremely irritating. I dont mind it being dark inside. I dont need the sports highlights on the TV monitors wherever I look. The food is mediocre and overpriced. The drinks are a little overpriced. The two good things about this place is 1) They are open late. 2) They have specials on chicken wings on Tuesday (or Wednesday?). No decent happy hour. Cheerful service.

Food was great until we found a hair and when we complained about it the manager came and tried to insist that it wasn t in the food. Customer Satisfaction is a huge factor when dealing with complaints from customers. Trying to say it wasn t there when clearly it was or to imply that we put the hair there is out of line. In our history of waitressing we would never argue or discount what the customer was saying. We just apologize for the unfortunate thing that happened and take it off the bill. That s it That s All!!! Other than that the food was good. Other waitresses were great.

We came for dinner tonight and stood at the door waiting for someone to seat our party for approximately 5 mins. Multiple servers looked at us, but took off in the direction of the kitchen. Finally we were seated. Food took a little longer to come out. We were never checked on. Service was poor. I had to ask 2 different servers for a refill of drinks at our table, until a gentleman with an ear piece came by and I asked him and he did it. Food was ok Worst part was, on our drive home (we all live in ladysmith) we had to emergency pull over, as we all got violently ill. It was a messy situation to say the least. We all threw our left overs out once we made it home. We won t be coming back.

Update. Oh sent me gift certificate and totally stepped up! We ordered same again and it was outstanding. Our regular go to for a great pub style burger. Normally great but today was disappointed. Ordered takeout. Told 25 minutes. Arrived on time paid and waited 15 additional. Told they were assembling the chicken burger. Got home the beef burger was cold as were the fries. The long awaited chicken burger was burnt.

Maybe I should have read the reviews before I popped in zero ambiance for at paddy s day fail. And the prices are just stupid I live in community and keep trying to pop by but not at these prices sorry. Should have stayed home

I ve been a customer at OJ s for a couple years now and everytime I go there Nicole is a pleasure, she calls me by my first name, always pleasant to deal with and has a positive attitude!! I highly recommend OJ s and especially Nicole!!

Original Joes is one of the good ones, the food is great and the atmosphere is always pleasant. Ive had some longer wait times for food in the last year or 2 which is the only reason I am giving Service 4 stars. Once the food arrives its delicious, but could be 30-60 minutes. I recently had an unpleasant experience with a meal there (which has only happened twice in over 100 visits), however the manager Taylor was absolutely incredible. She handled the situation properly and navigated us to a resolution that will have me going back in a few days to spend more of my hard earned money on a quality meal. If theres any issues with your experience they will do their best to make it right, and thats all you can ask. Hats off to Taylor, she really saved the day and theyre absolutely lucky to have her there. Definitely recommend.

I ordered and when I went to pick up I sat waited to pay for my food like 15 minutes. EVERYONE!!! saw me but none came to say one moment or even a hi. my food was just sitting out and by time I got it and got home it was cold and soggy!! I almost wasnt going to leave a tip but I was raised to tip and be kind. so I just paid and left. even tho I was not happy.

Ordered a Cobb salad for lunch (picked up) the chicken tomatoes cucumber and cheddar cheese was not fresh cut, maybe a day or more old, so for $20 I expect fresh cuts!

Well we won t be ordering from here again for awhile. If you eat in the food and service is good. If you order online or by phone for take out make sure your prepared to wait anywhere from 30 mins -1.5 hr on top of the time you were Originally told or booked online. Every time we ve phoned in a take out we ve had a long wait time but usually the lady at the desk is nice and apologetic and they may compensate you someway, last two time not at all. Last order I get there after taking 20 mins longer than what I was told on the phone to come in and be told oh they lost our order, and that it will be another 20 mins. After waiting 40 mins and no one saying a thing I ask if they found my order ( I also had my 8 month old baby who was starting to get fussy) I was told oh yeah I think he is packaging it up, after another 10 mins I said okay I m going for a drive before my baby starts screaming, came back 15 mins later and thankfully it was finally ready. No compensation just a sorry for the wait, I asked the server to pass on this experience to the manager and explain how unhappy this experience was. We ordered again because the food is usually always good. This time I go down to pick up and it s not ready again , wait 20 mins and get it home for it all to cold and not very good food.

Heres my only beef, the booths are small and were plus size people, so the booths are too small for us and the tall chairs slide around when trying to sit on em. We almost left

Our daughter treated us to dinner tonight. The creole gumbo was delicious. The fries on my daughters plate were over cooked. Vegetarian options: They serve the impossible burger here.

They kept getting the food and drinks wrong. It took about 30 minutes to get our order taken in the first place. The mains are hard to enjoy when they arent the meals we ordered. The appetizers were overdone. The service was at least polite about the mistakes.

Super disappointed in our meals we got this evening. Ordered the fish and chips. The fries were cold and not fresh at all. The tartar tasted more like horseradish than anything. The coleslaw had way too much vinegar so didn t even taste like coleslaw. The fish was good and it was a nice big piece. My son had the spicy crispy chicken burger and said it was okay but his fries were also cold and not fresh. For the price I paid it was not worth it at all.

We were seated fairly quickly. However after being seated we did not have an interaction with any server for about 20 mins before we decided it was fit to leave (not even water for the table). Was pretty much dead, waiters & waitresses couldn t help but gossip and text instead of doing their jobs. Not impressed is this normal?

We were in a hurry and they staff made sure we were not held up with any sort of waits, the service was incredible and food was well priced and very good. Parking: Large parking lot with plenty of free parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Lots of room to bring your chair in.

I would give a zero star but cant. After walking in for a lunch with mom... We were told it would take 10 to 15 to clear a table. I see probably 20 empty tables. Hostess says the need to balance customers.... Well we left and so did others... Now there are less customers to balance. Its a joke of a restaurant with obviously poor management. We could have sat down and drank a few... But they wouldnt let us! Terrible place.

Sat at the bar and asked for a lager and a menu. She brought my beer and disappeared for just over 10 minutes. I got up and got my own menu and when she returned she was in no rush to see if I still wanted a menu or anything. I was just passing through town and wanted a quick bite. Needless to say this is the second time it has happened and I wont be back to the Duncan location anytime soon. Get it together Duncan.

Summer V is an amazing server. We had a larger party, and she provided such a wonderful experience, very attentive to us for drinks and anything else we needed. I think we found our summer spot for drinks with friends! Also love the house ale!

Awesome dry ribs

The Wife and I went out for Dinner on Friday night and the atmosphere and service was top notch. Our waiter Morgan went above and beyond, he was professional and personable we will be back again.

Unfortunately, the great food we had didn t make up for the lack of service. We sat down at our table at 7pm, we did not receive even water until 730, and we had to ask a passing server (not ours) for them. After the waters came, our server showed up to read us the specials, then said she ll give us a minute with the menus, and left before we could tell her we d already had 30 of them, and we were ready to order. She then came back about ten minutes later to take out drink and food orders. Our first drinks did not arrive until almost 15 minutes after that. Almost an hour after we sat down. Our food came out relatively quickly after, and was fantastic. It wasn t until we d finished our food that she asked if we wanted more drinks, two of which came out quickly, the other was forgotten, until we were about to ask for the bills. This was not a busy night, the place was far from packed. I ve been a server, I understand this can be a tough job, but there was nothing to cause the snails pace service we had tonight.

Went in for a late lunch and had excellent service. The place was clean with a casual atmosphere. The food was exceptional ( love the coleslaw). There was a minor problem with my order that was promptly and politely rectified. A good experience and I will definitely be back.

i went in yesterday with my friend for a late lunch out waitress was amazing she was so kind and friendly. she was definitely one of the best waitresses i ve ever had we will definitely be coming back at some point. the food was amazing it came out nice and hot ready to be eaten

we have been there a couple times this summer and 2 times my daughters food is not properly cooked. Tonight her burger wasn t cooked properly and was still raw, I told the waitress and asked for a to go box and they made her another one, the second burger wasn t cooked yet, just like they switched burger buns. Very unhappy with the last few times we have been there.

Summer gave us excellent service, had a delicious eggs benny (Chipotle and Charizo Sausage)

I was there this evening helping my 80 year old friend carry her items home. She had eaten there and asked to charge her phone . The girl had to ask the manager to use a plug. When I got there with this rolling carrier for her items I left my dog and her outside to ask for water for my pup. The girl said yes. I walked away to buy doggy bags at the dollar store expecting there to be water outside for my pup. There wasn t . Lucky I bought a bowl at the store and filled it myself in the washroom. I know there are bums around but seriously ?!? Taking that out on the elderly and animals is a bit much. Train your staff to treat people with respect. It goes a long way.

the fish and chips used to come with a really big piece of fish which was great but now the pieces are fairly small and its just not worth it for the price of the dish.

I feel like this place has went down hill since 3 years ago. Food was cold when brought out and way smaller portions, I had the Brussel sprouts it wasnt even half the plate and it used to cover the entire plate. The waitress took 20 minutes to bring the machine over to pay after bringing the bill and saying shed be right back. It was not a busy time of day. There were not many other people dining in at the time.

Such a disappointing experience. We went as a family for dinner before my sons departure to work abroad. We were happy to wait the 53 minutes that it took to receive our food. What a disappointment when our dinner came out luke warm. What was even worse was that it took 15 minutes for the waitress to return with our utensils so we could apprise her of how our food arrived. We will not be back.

New staff are having challenges remembering orders and getting food out in a timely fashion but theyre all super friendly and honest about being new. If you have patience and dont mind reminding them a few times, it will come. Food ordered can taste different visit to visit. Sometimes too much spice is used on their dishes. The prices are raised every 4 to 6 months and the portions are cut back at the same time.

Had requested to pre order today so that we could enjoy our lunch hour was informed that they no longer do that but was told that if we told the server we were in a rush that it shouldnt be a problem. Got there at 12:35, ordered, informed that we were in a rush on our lunch hour got our food at 1:10, had to rush to eat what we had time to eat and took the rest back to work. Not impressed. Expensive vaguely upmarket burger joint. Reportedly well regarded, but skip it if you dont think of burgers as a meal out. Service slightly on the slow side. Food quality appeared to be poor to middling (Wendys say was better). Portion sizes small, especially by Canadian standards and given the cost. I wouldnt want to go there again, sorry.

Came with a group a few times. Shout out to the amazing job the servers and greeters do, as it is more often than not packed in the restaurant with only 2-3 servers and 1-2 greeters. This makes the service much slower, but they definitely make it up with the quality of their service. I just wish there would be more help for them. The food itself is not bad, it is pretty standard North American Caucasian style fare. A little on the pricier side, but their Tuesday Wings Special is great!

The food is usually decent and the servers are friendly but every single time I order takeout and show up at the pickup time I have waited at least an additional 15 minutes and one time it was nearly 45. The online/call-in ordering system needs some serious improvement!

Worst experience iv had in a long time. Waited nearly a hour for our food, was not asked if we wanted refills on our drinks or even checked up on while waiting and the sad thing is it wasnt even busy. Id hate to see the quality of service when its busy

Our waiter, Calriick (i may have that slightly wrong) was so friendly and funny. He made my wife and I laugh a few times and was always right there with anything we needed. MAHI MAHI LONG BEACH ISH TACOS, which I order in every location I have been in were the BEST I have ever had.

We have been visiting OJs for a number of years here in Duncan. The food and service has always been consistent and friendly. Most recent experience has definitely changed how I feel about going back. We ordered 2 wings with rib bites along with parm chips. Hot wings were cooked properly and an excellent amount of sauce. Salt n vinegar wings were so dry and over cooked and were not served hot. I had to ask for seasoning to be brought out as there was hardly any on the wings. The rib bites were also cold when served. The salt n pepper that is usually on the ribs were in one big pile of a greasy mess on the plate instead of being spread over the food. This actually looked like a dipping sauce on the plate. Parm chips were served hot but the shaved parm was not added to the dish. The staff were courteous about getting the parm and seasoning and offered to redo the salt n vinegar wings. But basically the whole order needed to be redone. The waitress did ask how things were at the time of bill payment but did not come to check on us after food was originally delivered to our table. All in all I am very disappointed as this has been a goto spot for us when we want some good food and service.

Little yorkies - excellent taste and size, brushetta was delightful. Noisey on a Friday night. The roast beef sandwich was really tasty and piled high. As for service, they were accommondating. First of all, i believe in giving Google reviews, good or bad, as I believe people have a right to know. A group of us (5 adults and 3 children ranging from 2 to 7) stopped in at Original Joes for dinner this past week. We were first told that our wait for a table would be 20 minutes. We waited for 45 minutes to actually get a table. Then we were eventually seated at a bar table when there were clearly lots of tables/booths available that would fit all 8 of us. We asked to be moved to a booth which was big enough to seat all of us. Once we were seated in the booth we waited for approx 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order. We finally complained and they tried to at least rush the kids orders through because it was getting late. However they still took quite a long time even bringing these to the table. We eventually got our drink and dinner orders in but waited for a long time to get our drinks. Still waiting for our meals, we waited to get the girl to come back to take our second drink order. We yet again complained, put in the drink order and waited to have the request filled. Finally, 3 of us got our meals, while 2 did not. One meal was stone cold. The other two meals, that came out well after everyone elses were packed up to take home because it was way too late for the kids (well past their bed times). The whole fiasco had us waiting for 2.5 hours. The manager ended up taking over our table, and explained that they were short staffed, and there was a new bartender that was still learning, and there was a concert at the university so they didnt expect the swarm of people that showed up for dinner that night. After all was said and done, he took all of our meals off the bill and only charged for our drinks. On top of that, our group received a $50 gift certificate. I feel that they genuinely were caught off guard that night and after all of the things that happened, they do want their customers be happy.

Excellent service, reasonable prices. 4yrs later...prices way up, wait staff still good. Ordered Jambalaya $19.50, came out luke warm, waitress sent it back to be reheated, came out luke warm again, sent back for reheat, came out hotter, but not hot, except the rice and a prawn was only luke warm and half that prawn was cold. I know getting 3 different proteins equally hot to be as hot as the rice and sauce is hard, but if you cant do it, just dont serve it.
