62 Overlea Blvd #3a, East York, ON M4H 1C4, Canada
Counter-serve halal venue featuring casual Afghanistan eats like grilled lamb kebab dinners & wraps.
Got the chicken and beef plate. Meat was very tender, portions are huge! And they gave a side of their flat bread very warm and fresh. Good quality afghan food for a decent price. I was so full after and satisfied.
Lamb was slightly dry. Mound of rice with meat is very lacking a side salad. it should be included like all the other dishes.
I've been going to this restaurant for years. The food is always great. They have a new menu item which is lamb shank and I'll try that next. I felt like tandori chicken kabob dinner, so I ordered that. There's a counter where you order your food and then grab a table and wait until they call your number. It's quite busy at times. While I was there, they made an effort to keep the garbage area clean and also the tables.
One of the food staples in the Toronto region and has been for years a must go to everytime I'm in the area. I always like to go to the first location they opened on overlea Blvd. It has been 4 years since I had Bamiyan kabob and here is my review based on my last visit on August 1st. For a party of 4, we ordered 2 sultani kabob, 1 tandoori Chicken and chicken kabob plates. The bread was OK and it did not feel fresh as I remember it. The food was delicious and the rice was cooked to perfection. The only thing that I did not like was the meat tenderloin pieces that comes with the sultai plate, the pieces were not tender and chew. Another thing that I noticed was that the tables were not cleaned right away after the customers had left and I had to stare at couple of dirty tables while eating. This place used to be immaculate before. Will try again in few months and report back with a follow up.
Tried Bamiyan Kabob, an Afghani restaurant, today. Ordered the Kofta and Barg Kabob. Both were quite delicious, well cooked; however, the Barg (fillet mignon) was not as tender as it should be. They’ve prepared the food quickly and staff were nice & friendly. Need to mention they bake Afghani bread in the house; so their complementary bread is so tasty and fresh.
Ordered the tikka kabob dinner and the tikka wrap. The dinner was good, loved the rice, but the meat was a little tough. I would not recommend the wrap at all, it was bland and not worth $10.
Unfortunately, my visit was not as enjoyable as I had hoped. The service was slow and uninterested, but the food was great however I was extremely disappointed with the staff as he said to my husband that I am his friend as she says that I am wearing my wedding ring. The atmosphere was also not as pleasant. In either case: I believe that addressing these issues could greatly improve the overall experience for future customers. I recommend the food but not the staff was rude luck of knowledge to judge people right the way either husband or wife nor boyfriend or girlfriend. This is only the reason I gave 2starts .
The meat was perfect, and the half chicken kabab was soo nice we loved the seasoning, it was perfectly seasoned. The pulav was great as well, you can eat as it is without any sides. Their mango smoothie was good but not great, maybe because I’m not a smoothie person so try it out if u are a smoothie person!! It’s made out of fresh mangoes. Must try- pulav and half chicken kabob
As always great food and consistent quality
Delicious!
Most delicious kebabs i have ever had in my life.
Tandoori chicken Salad tomato not fresh Chaplee kebab Kebab vaziri Food : 5/5 |
They have good food. but they reduced portion sizes to very small and increased alot of prices its not worth the meal
Since 2012, Our Mothers sad departure!!!.. We discovered Our Favorite Back-up....Unsure when Well stop, LoL!!! Because Of THIS, we never used to Check, WELL, only to discover at Home, burnt Naan or Mixed Up Salad...we like ours seperate as the salad has a Short Life!!! I believe the newer staff erred, otherwise Extremely Courteous Senior Staff always helped us with Extra Sauce!!!
Completely raw meat and the rice as well it s waste of money
Excellent food, fresh and delicious! Super friendly staff.. Great value for big portions.. every dish is a must try!! Highly recommended!
Great Afghani kabob with affordable price.
Very good food - Paratha and salad.
Dietary restrictions: Halal Food
Great food and great staff.
The girl at reception is unprofessional she don t know about there menu and she end the call7:25 pm date 21 /10/24
Realy bad service but good food. How difficult is to take phone order and note down proper name and phone number. Ladies argue and fail to admit their error. they show attitude and blame customer. Order mild wrap and made spicy wrap. Seating and decor needs improvement.
Only a handful of places kept their quality after Covid and Bamiyon is one of them. Please keep doing what you are doing. So far I never had a bad experience here.
Food was ok. I ordererd breast wrap and kofta wrap. Taste was ok.
Cashier absolutely rude and no customer experience
The place is very basic..food is okay..delicious but not the best. Staff are nice. Price modorate Halal afghani food. Food
The food was average at best. Good food if you want to grab and go or you are around the area but not worth it to come here especially for anything.
We got the Kofta Kabob. It was great portions. Came with fresh bread and some hot salsa. Total was $21 and easily fed 2 people. Great flavour and fresh off the grill. Will definitely come back.
Rice not cooked well
Love love love the food!
Very little food for the value
Tasty food at a fair price. Sultani Kabob is a must.
Amazing food amazing people very clean food is very fresh and satisfying service everyone should visit
I ordered $40.10 food but I gave the server $50 and told her to waive 10 cents but she didnt favor and gave me the change with rude behavior. I asked for the supervisor but she didnt call. Very unfriendly customer service. I will try to avoid thorncliffe location in future.
It was my first time eating Cambodian food. It was really delicious. Bread in addition to the main dish? It also comes with something like this and it will fill you up. I wish Japan could do it too!
Spend tons of money with them guy refuse to serve me one little tomato sauce... Asking money for one extra little tomato sauce I didnt have 50c Cash on me. .... Small portion size of meat not good anymore. Over Lea Blvd.
Love their food, especially the naan, much better than other restaurants. Chai tea is superb
Always amazing!
The food didn t have enough salt and the meat was very dry. I ve tried better from other places. There was an old lady who was watching the workers, and I asked her for an extra red sauce because she was in the front and she rudely answered that I have to pay, it s not free. She had lots of attitude on her face. The red sauces weren t even filled to the top. Very poorly managed place.
I visited this Restaurant today around 8pm. While the food was satisfactory, I was disappointed to find that they only provided a very small portion of hot sauce (chatni), which was barely enough for the meal. When I politely requested an extra serving from the cashier, an elderly lady, who seemed to be supervising, intervened and prevented the cashier from accommodating my request. Despite spending over $150 with my family, I was surprised to encounter such reluctance over a small condiment, which left a negative impression.
As a loyal and dedicated customer for over 10 years, I am disappointed to say that this establishment is not as good as it used to be. The portions of rice now exceed the amount of meat, and the sauce containers are no longer filled to the brim. They now charge extra for a bit more sauce, and the employees are quite rude, failing to greet customers politely. I will no longer be eating here.
Poor service, bad customer service with offering raw meat. When you are ordering something the girls behave like you are asking for free food or autograph.
I din like their food. Salty and sour
Update: quality has gone down, not what it used to be. Its become a standard of going to the school cafeteria! Love coming to Bamiyan, great place for yummy Afghani kabob dinners. Id recommend the Chaplee, Kofta, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Breast or Sultani kabob dinners. Id also offer a suggestion that if you like to have shredded carrots and raisins in your rice, order the kabeli pilau separate. When you order your kabobs, dont order the dinner, order the salad and naan plate instead. If youre not a fan of raisins and carrots in your rice, fully disregard this suggestion. Also, a side note, as someone who had the Choppan kabob yesterday, I really would recommend avoiding this option. The lamb is slightly bland, and tiny pieces! I was expecting a much bigger portion for a higher cost to step up to lamb! Incredibly disappointing. It wont hinder me from returning, however I would never order the Choppan even if it was half price. Stick with the chicken or beef kabobs, youll be glad you did.
Delicious and abondand fast food for reasonable price
good and clean place i ordered half chicken and it was really good recommended
Hands down the best restaurant in the area. This place has been on my families rotation for 10 years aa Kandahar kabob is all show, no taste , no flavour, and you will get sick eating it
:( quality went down , thats never a good sign.
My favourite restaurant in the entire world
Love their food taste and quality.. reasonably priced for the quantity they give
Not quite happy with the food nor the services Do not accept credit cards and staffs seem demotivated.
Really good Barg Love it!! Food
I really have no idea what happened to this restaurant in recent years. Back a few years before COVID, Bamiyan was my go-to Afghan restaurant. Now? Its become a sad shell of what once was a great restaurant. An overpriced menu, decent customer service and a comfortable atmosphere would give this restaurant a 3 star review. But I didnt even mention what the food has become. I just ordered the Sultani Kebab for the first time in a while, and I am utterly disappointed. The rice had a weird smell and was a bit crunchy, the sauces are obviously old, and I swear on my mothers life that the meat on the inside was rotten. I hope that someone at Bamiyan picks up on this and returns the restaurant to its former glory, because if not I wouldnt be surprised if this location dies in a couple years.
Price raised and food quality goes down.... before it was best in Toronto, last night my experience was very bad
Awesome place to eat. My moms FAVOURITE place. Great food and service
You can really see the decline of this location. Its no longer a national treasure. Staff seemed very upset to be there. No staff were happy. No one smiled, even when I smiled handing them my cash. My chicken needed more cooking. The sauce they used was granular...the taste has really declined. Veggies were not fresh. Maybe I just got bad stock on that day. Maybe the cook was having a bad day...I would suggest you steer clear. Maybe hit another location? Overlea location is not what it used to be. I am so sad to post this as I have been a loyal customer for years.
Best Afghan food.
They dont have chair set for babies. The rice is not delosious. I did not interested. Kid-friendliness: They did not have chair set for babies.
All the more success
Always excellent food no matter which branch you are visiting.
Geninuely delicious high quality and hot food. Feels like a home cooked meal. Thank you Bamiyan for always bringing joy to my family!! God bless
Amazing Chapli Kebab Rice and Lamb Shank Rice! A definite goto for regular family meals without breaking your bank!
Very bad customer service specially their manager Ayesha..doesnot know how to talk with the customers.they need to take some classes that how to improve their skills.0 customer service.
Food is great, but kababs have gotten a smaller over the years, and there is just a little to much ricevwith th dinners.
Food for the price is OK, but I wouldnt dine-in as its not very clean. I had a fly try to get into my drink, and it was annoying to have to swat the fly away while trying to eat. I ordered the Waziri-Style Dinner, with full rice; the rice and meat was okay, but the naan that came with it was cold to the touch. I asked if I could get fresh naan instead and at first they told me that it was fresh, but after I got them to the feel the naan for themselves, they brought out a replacement one which was hot. Took a bit of effort, but I was eventually able to have a halfway-decent dining experiance.
Great place to eat.
Excellent, flavourful and authentic dishes - delicious Vegetarian options: Flavourful Dietary restrictions: This place offers both vegetarian and hallal options Parking: Parking is plentiful as it is located in a strip mall Kid-friendliness: Easy and relaxed dine in experience Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessed
I have been a loyal customer of Bamiyan Kabob for years, and its one of my favorite restaurants in the GTA. This location, situated in the Thorncliffe Park area and close to downtown, always delivers great quality food at reasonable prices. One of the things I appreciate about Bamiyan Kabob is that they dont advertise their food in any channel, and yet they have a chain of restaurants in the GTA. Its like a hidden gem that only those who know about it can enjoy. However, I do have a few recommendations for this particular location. The menu is not very clear, unlike other restaurants, and it would be helpful if they had clear pictures of dishes and prices. A take-out menu in paper format would also be helpful, especially for customers who are not familiar with Afghan cuisine and the names of the dishes. A small TV with a slide show of the dishes and prices could also be a useful addition. Another suggestion would be to have a bigger storage place for dirty dishes, as the place is quite small and can become cluttered quickly. Overall, I would highly recommend Bamiyan Kabob to anyone looking for great Afghan food in the GTA. The quality is always good, the prices are reasonable, and the location is conveniently located. This restaurant deserves attention from other cultures in this multicultural city, and I hope they will continue to improve and add all the qualities of a great restaurant.
Love the foods. We often have lunch and dinner here
Enjoy full
Employees are very nice. Though the food has fallen off over the years. It is still very good but when you compare it to the competition its ehh
Everything is good but only problem u can t use credit card
Great place for authentic Afghan food.
Bamiyan Kabob is a popular Afghan restaurant located on Overlea Blvd in East York, Ontario, Canada. Known for its flavorful kabobs, stews, and rice dishes, the restaurant has become a favorite among locals and tourists alike. The interior of Bamiyan Kabob is simple and elegant, with soft lighting, comfortable seating, and traditional Afghan decor. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a great spot for a casual meal with friends or family. The menu at Bamiyan Kabob is focused on classic Afghan dishes, with a variety of options to suit any taste. The kabobs are a standout, with tender, juicy meat that is marinated in a blend of spices and grilled to perfection. The stews and rice dishes are also delicious, with aromatic flavors and generous portions. One of the most popular dishes at Bamiyan Kabob is the lamb shank, which is slow-cooked in a flavorful broth until it is fall-off-the-bone tender. The accompanying rice is perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the side salad adds a refreshing touch. The service at Bamiyan Kabob is friendly and attentive, with staff members who are knowledgeable about the menu and eager to make recommendations. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable, making it an excellent value for the quality of the food and service. Overall, Bamiyan Kabob is a fantastic restaurant that offers an authentic taste of Afghan cuisine in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The flavorful dishes, friendly service, and reasonable prices make it a top choice for anyone looking for a delicious meal in East York, Ontario.
First time there. The wrap was delicious
Nice food. Will visit again
Have been a patron of this place for years. Always consistent good quality food and quantity is generous. Order ahead if possible and then its smooth sailing.
Very delicious and fresh food.. love the quantity of the food.
Bad dining in experiences: 1. waiter messed up order handful of times. 2. Tap water containers look yellow. 3. place looks dirty like a slaughterhouse 4. bathrooms are dirty 5. weird smell when I walked in 1 time but the food is A +
Cheppan kabob meal is absolutely perfect. Chicken breast wrap is awesome. This is the best Afghan food I had in the recent times. A short and compact restaurant serving delicious dishes.. High five for these guys..
They increased the prices and reduced the food quantity too and also the food quality also downgraded too.
Limited vegetarian options but non veg options are delicious
This particular location is one of my all time favorite, one of the best in Afghan cuisines for years.
Good food but the place and structure of the restaurant is outdated. Needs a good renovation to better enjoy the food their with friends and family
Good food. Wait can be long during busy times. Wish they d get better seating, the iron chairs are not comfortable and are outdated across all locations. Food is easily 4*
Second visit and they yet again have no beef chaplee, will not visit again. Restock your fridges.
Love this place
Good Afghani Food. Fast service and delicious food. Good customer service. Food
Always fresh and Tasty food
Excellent food and value for money.
Best food, great taste, consistently excellent. Eat, eat ,eat !!!Yummy...
Delicious food, recommend to try it once in a while their tradition cooked meat
Terrible customer service!!!!!! I don t care if your food is delicious or not I value customer service more than anything. After this guy s respond to me on the phone I got so mad I was going to go to the restaurant to talk to management. I was going to give order for my guests I called in and a guy picked up the phone, he kept telling me he can t hear me and I had to order quickly he didn t have time to either confirm what I am saying or to repeat because he had many customers and he don t have time to listen my order. I guess this what happens after you get quite a bit customers and you don t need extra one. Found it so rude and unprofessional. Because of this guy this restaurant lost a customer not just one but will be quite a bit, I will be telling my family and friends not to go and eat in this restaurant ever again. Restaurant without proper customer service doesn t deserve a penny I am sorry .
My new favourite Afghani restaurant in East York. Delicious meat, and rice with fresh produce. The Sultani dinner is 10/10. Also very clean interior, and polite staff, but be prepared to wait 20+min for take-out. Still worth it imo.
Love their schnitzel lookalike flat kabobs on saffron rice!! I would prefer takeouts over dining at this place.
Always great idea to come to Bamiyan kabob, great portions, always delicious.
Food is phenomenal, but this specific location needs to follow what theyve done with the expansion restaurants and renovate!
Just amazing ! Food and beverages are delicious
Closest to genuine Afghan food taste. Great menu and delicious food.
The food here is very good. Presentation is beautiful. Staff are very friendly and eager to help. The portions are very generous. Definitely come here hungry. You will need a walk afterwards!
Best afghani food
I have been a BAMIYAN customer for years at Markham. I was visiting friends in the Scarborough so decided to pickup food from this location. I ordered 5 half chicken dinners and 5 chopan kababs and paid about 150 bucks. While the half chicken was good as usual , some of the chopan kabab pieces smelled bad and clearly they were not edible. They should never have given me meat that was not edible anymore. To make it worse they packed all 5 chopan skewers together so we had to throw all of it. I tried one bite and felt like throwing up. It is shameful and crime to have a customer pay for rotten food , you risked our health and spoiled our weekend.
Delicious food, large portions, very clean, friendly staff
I ordered by phone, he told me that it would be ready in 10 minutes, and it took me 15 minutes to reach the restaurant. When I arrived, they told me that my order was not ready, and I waited about another 15 minutes.
Its my forever favourite place for authentic afghani food. Food is fresh, service is fast. 100% recommended.
Too much rice
Great food. One of my favourite spots in the east end Parking: Limited spots but never had trouble finding a spot since people are in and out quickly Food : 5/5 |
They are serving one of the best and delicious half-chicken meal. Highly recommend for chicken lovers.
Good service
The food quality at the Overlea location has severely declined. Today, I ordered half chicken, but it was completely burned and the meat seemed old, just like my previous experiences there. Despite specifically requesting fresh and not burnt meat, it was disappointing to find that my request was not met. The meat pieces were even unrecognizable, resembling a bird more than chicken. This visit was the final straw, and I have decided not to return to the Overlea location ever again.
I ordered 2or3 meal at a time 3 times in the row they mess up the order l told them they ignored and not even tried to say sorry so rude and in fit for the job
Great
There might be downside to the place and at times, it is crowded as well but I enjoy food the most. It never fails to amaze me. At times, nan can be overcooked and I specifically ask for lightly done. One of my favourite food outlet!
This is a small location with just enough room to dine in when it is not too busy. There is not much to say in terms of atmosphere and service. Basically, you order at the register, find yourself a table, wait until they call you and you bring the food yourself. We tried the SULTANI KABOB, the TANDOORI CHICKEN KABOB, which included salad and naan, and the MANGO SMOOTHIE. In general, the food was actually good and the portion-price ratio was reasonable.
Just did a take out few minutes ago. This place has reduced its food quality over the years. Ordered a tikka wrap, the bread seemed to be stale whereas the meat was undercooked.
Amazing food
8 /12/2023 After waiting 1 hour they send me the wrong food and shameless manger on the phone first he didn t apologize for their mistake he said it is just a small mistake that we did ,
Tasty and healthy.. not many can offer both
Its been a long time since I was here last but the food was just as I remembered it. Excellent! Atmosphere is only hampered due to the large families and groups that are crowded in the tiny spaces between the fixed tables. Crying babies, 10 people sitting around a table thats only meant for 6.....
Loved the food one of the best food iv eaten it s affordable n tasty would definitely recommend it
Best Afghani food
Amazing experience... my family and I Hage been coming here for dozens of years now! A great place for family dinners! Today I had the salmon dinner plate , it was very flavourful, spicy and delicious! My family had other kabob dinner plates which they all loved said the taste was fabulous! The furni is a must try, you can easily eat 2 to 3 of them in one sitting its that good! Dietary restrictions: Halal Parking: Very buzy
Mannesha really served us well, and the food was délicieuse and affordable
Food not like before. Meat tastes old and not fresh.
Good taste, a little congested for seating and fair self service. Parking: Give it a try once, it has a different taste to it. Kid-friendliness: Our kids high chair was blocking other customers, which was a bit of an embarrassment.
Food is so nice.
Always amazing quality
Customer service is too bad behaviour is to bad
We love their food. Specially their rice. I find the rice served at every other afghan place to be dry but not this place . Well I like everything that they serve .
This place is gross..I walked in today and ordered 3 plates for me and my family...waited about 10mins for food and then sat down and got my food not only to see the chicken leg I had ordered the drumstick part looked like a piece was bitten off...we showed the staff member who worked in the front end and he didnt really care he just laughed it off then he asked if we wanted to speak to the manager...so I said yes the manager came along not really friendly or caring we explained the situation that the half chicken meal the drumstick part of the chicken looks deformed as if someone had taken a bite of it and just served it to us...this chicken was suppose to be for my kids and I would never feed my kids that or anyone else..anyhow the manager said he would feed his kids it and laughed like a big jackass and walked away not solving the issue..I got upset and went back for a refund while the other staff members looked at me and laughed and smiled not willing to help me out and make another plate for my kids..I go to other bamiyan...they have such great service and its actually clean not like this one..dirty floors tables..spraying bleach on tables when kids are about to eat.. dirty highchair and ...someone should call the health inspector and get this location shut down..honestly not even worth the money your paying for a decent meal..GROSSSS someone should train these ppl how to run a business and be clean and professional to customers..barf shut this place down.
The food was pretty good but the servicing was awful, the name is Bamyan kabob but you barely see afghan staffs there. The lady on the counter who took our order didn t clearly specify about the food as we ordered just babab and then when we received was all rice with few kabobs on it, we requested for a change but she behaved rudely while she didn t let us know about food and i had to order again.
Food was okay. Ordered the dinner, but the kabab was overcooked and tough. The sauces were not too tasty either like they used to be. Service could have been better too I think.
Very disappointed by the types of servers Bamiyan is hiring these days. The server barked at us without any form of provocation. She was extremely rude and we didnt see the manager intervene. I am still not sure what our fault was. We left without making a scene because we did not want this to escalate or waste our time. It looks like other people have the same complaints about servers at this location. I tried to email their head office but the email address does not work.
I have tried a lot of Afghan food, This is the tastiest afghan food around. Their half chicken dinner is unique in taste. I havent tasted anything similar anywhere else. Enjoy Food : 5/5 |
I love Bamiyan Kabob (particularly the one on Don Mills and Overlea) the food is always fresh and delicious, staff are friendly and polite. The kofa kabob dinner is my favourite things. I really wish they would be available on Uber eats so I can order it when I m unable to go to the restaurant. This way I can order at home or work. Vegetarian options: Grilled salmon, salads, rice Dietary restrictions: Ask and they will try to accommodate Parking: Free parking but often busy Kid-friendliness: This is a family restaurant so yes kids are welcomed and are often there. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes as there are no stairs
Better food, better service and better dine in that some authentic restaurants in Bayview/Davisville area
Delicious food, large portions, Fresh naans and delicious bbq dishes . Presentation is beautiful. Staff are very friendly and eager to help.
Food is always delicious - authentic Afghan cooking. Always busy meaning food is fresh too. For eating in atmosphere is like a cafeteria - quite bright and crowded with tray service from the counter. We are repeat customers who mostly get take-out. Vegetarian options: Quite meat centric. They do offer a veggie kabob but with no protein such as tofu. For pescaterians they offer a salmon dish.
Go-to spot for afghan food. Well priced and portions are great. Usually takes about 10-15 mins for food to be prepped.
Ive been dropping in for 20 years. Its good clean food for when you want to eat healthy and flavourful yet dont want to cook.
The OG Afghan franchise with delicious food and good service! Dietary restrictions: Halal Food : 5/5 |
Lamp shank is the best in town. Seating at the Thorncliffe one is limited but I guess they cant do much about that.
Thousands of dollars business a day and still cant afford to get visa or master card payments. We are in 2017!!!!
Great good as always
A very tasty afghan food and friendly staff and also they offerred us complimentary lasi wich was very good too
Food is always gr8 as usual.
Excellent Afghani Food
Never disappoints. Always the same great experience especially at this location.
