Try our authentic staples such as biryani, fresh naan on demand and specialty meats that you can only be truly experienced with our authentic tandoor charcoal oven.
Naan, doesn’t taste like one nor was in its shape and proportion. Butter chicken : beyond sweet than usual. Karahi Chicken : Tasty and Hot Spicy as expected. Was worth the penny. Overall this was the only Dish which I was able to eat.
Been going here since I was a kid. Great spot and definitely a hidden gem for Bengali food. Their beef kebabs are fantastic.. their naan is always fresh. Their Bihari kebab is a must try! Always happy to have Makkah 😍😍😍😍
Veg Samosas are big and actually comparing to others in the area priced really well and taste amazing. They also give sauce with it which is equally good.
Food is Amazing!! The place is worth the money, it is self serve! Service is quick and to the point! It is reasonably priced and quality is good. I would recommend this place. Cheers
Don’t wanna give them 1 star, but no option. Tehari was may be few days old. Rest you can judge from the pic I up loaded of food I ordered. Just wasted my money. Tehari rice was hard rock 🪨! Beef was like rubber and you can completely see in picture it was just bottom rice they gave me. Really disappointed. ☹️ not recommended at all.
Food quality is very bad.. making a bad smell from food. Maybe selling 2 days old food. Please don't west your time and money. It's one of the worst foods ever I eat.
Not really sure why the rating is under 4. We LOVED the food and probably one of the best breakfasts we had in Canada. Desi flavours at its finest. They accept cash besides card. We also took takeouts for later.
It’s better to keep lower expectations before going there. It’s no fancy fine dining, or even a dining as a matter of fact. It’s more like a catering option. But the food value is great. Good portion sizes and everything that I had ordered was tasty, fresh and good quality. That being said it doesn’t hurt for the staff to be bit more welcoming.
Cheap tasty Bangladeshi food. They have improved their menu as well. They are still doing a good job. The prices are up. They are now cheaper than some competitors. Sunday evenings are really busy. Their food quality has improved.
Consistent good food from this place. Somehow I still never have had diarrhea by eating here. Eat at your own risk.
Today I came to order 2 chicken roast and they gave me roast with out rice. I had ordered before it always comes with rice. Today there are untrained people who just wasted 25 minutes of my time. I finally had to cancel the order as I was running late. Its not the 1st bad experience we had, there is an old lady who works there sometimes and when ever she in in counter, she always forgets items. If you cant run your business properly, you should close it. Pathetic
Very casual atmosphere. Very nice man working and serving at the counter. We ordered the chicken biriani special for 8$ with side salad. Very good and nice spice. Food
Their beef tehari is too good
Best kolija shingara of the world
I always eat here and the food is delicious
I bought kolija/vegetable shigara from 2017 it was good but now its really bad and also raw.How can they sell this type of food???
Not able to give full marks neither recommend , ordered food almost an hour wait ,a dry sorry , that s it , not even offering a cup of tea while I wait , avoid this restaurant, you charged me full price for food but saying sorry after the food is late , come on walk the extra mile , I am embarrassed and avoid this in future
Very nice restaurant in Danforth Avenue for South Asian (specially Bangladeshi) food. The price is reasonably low. The staff are very nice and friendly, they will always great with you with a . It is a must try place if you are visiting Danforth. Their vegetable SAMOSAS are one of the best in Toronto!
I witnessed the outmost disgusting situation on June 1st where one employee was highly disrespectful, and verbally violent towards one of his female colleagues, threatening to beat her up, like he does with woman back home . Unbelievable!!!! And only to find out that he still works there any other restaurant or business would have fired him long ago. I guess it says a lot about their company culture and how they feel about their employee and customer safety Men like this should be locked up!
Not so good
Shish kabob and none is good to me.
Old age Lady employee wearing hijab her behaviour is very bad rude behaviour.
Today I was going there for lunch but believe me I was totally stuck a middle age women shouted and told me why you are sitting here you visitor people!! Then I tell her what do you mean by visitor people?? Then she again shouted and told get out from the restaurant. I don t know who is the owner but I think this woman should be kicked out by the owner. Very bad employees behaviour.Nobody Never ever come this restaurant .
Lady Employee service very very bad
Overall Disgusting
Low quality food Dirty kitchen plus dinning area Careless Moody Rude staff Super slow service Make sure to check your order before take out because they messed up with the items. Also, they served food from previous days. They also miscalculated prices.
They mix up orders so check your takeouts before payment. They dont care about customer services leading them to have a careless, moody attitude. They serve old food from previous days. The kitchen and the restaurant itself is quite dirty. The only good thing is their kolija shingara only if its freshly fried.
The atmosphere isnt the best, but the food is delicious and the prices are very fair, not to mention the behaviour of the employees is also quite polite.
Beef kichuri was awesome
Love their Behari kabab, very close to Bangladeshi beef kabab.
Absolutely bad service ever. I have been waiting for 1 hour and half but they couldn t make my order . Worse restaurant in Canada. It should be banned from Danforth .
Their food are very tasty and authentic Bangladeshi style. But I ve concerns with their cleanliness and freshness of unsold food . I think they reuse the food cooked a day before
Tried their kabab, it was amazing. Will be going back. Dietary restrictions: Halal Food : 5/5 |
Tasty, authentic Bangladeshi food! I order repeatedly from this place.
Good place for decent food and gossips
The spicy food was awesome!
Very good food with quality and quantity.....
Burned chicken, it s literally black.. The naan too. Don t order from here.
Best Kabab and Kolijar Singara at a Bangladeshi restaurant in Canada. Best price and decent service. Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian options available. Parking: Street parking. But there is a parking ground nearby. Kid-friendliness: No specific food menu or service available for kids. Wheelchair accessibility: Not very inclusive.
Couple of months back food taste was ok but not sure what went wrong as recently found that the food quality as well as the test dropped drastically. Very disappointed! The rice not even smells like pulao/biriyani/tehari.. they didn t even use pulao rice !we used to take food with great cravings last year and now the whole things changed! I will never go this place from now! Sorry!
The samosas are disgusting. They are all 95% full of potatoes no matter which samosas youre buying.
Went there when my kid was 4. He graduated this year still waiting for food.
Bihari Kabob is their best product. The other products are very low in quality and taste.
Food is alright but staff doesn t know what customer service means. They are rude to customers and don t have courtesy.
HORRIBLE! The reception, Customer Service, Food qualities are the WORST we have ever seen! The Lady (perhaps the owner!) was terribly IMPOLITE, UNPROFESSIONAL. We order something and serves something else!! Additionally the Food quality was also AWFUL. Finally after having the Lunch at Mokka, we went to Ghoroaa Restaurant to have the Lunch AGAIN and we have enjoyed the Food at Ghoroaa where the Customer service/Reception and the Food quality were just awesome. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE MOKKA RESTAURANT ! RATHER TO AVOID THIS RESTAURANT !!
Slow service sometimes but good food always
The most dirty and worst place in the Danforth, ordered Mughlai paratha, not sure what they cooked or served, the food is yak,
Foods are delicious.
They have some of the most amazing dishes. Their customer service is awesome. It an easy to order. For International students this restaurant is nice.
Food is great and really cheap. Its mostly self-service. I enjoyed the typical Bengali food. Space looks a little unhygienic and for the restroom, you will have to use the stairs even just to wash your hands. Utensils that they provide and disposable. If you enjoy Bengali food and if you are ok with the general vibe, try it. I wouldnt recommend taking your family or going for a date there. Parking is road-side, so it is better to park at the nearby complex.
One big miss about this restaurant is their poor service. Ordering takes a really long time, and the counter is not always manned. The people by the counter also always get sidetracked and distracted. In the middle of placing orders, they allow themselves to be interrupted by other customers or phone calls. They should at least finish attending to a customer start to finish before moving on to the next one. Another bad thing is that once any dish or food is finished and ready to be served, the lady will just shout across the dining area announcing that the dish is ready to be picked up. At least their food prices are reasonable and maybe even a little less than average. Our order of 2 dishes, plus an appetizer of veggie pakora, and a dessert of rasmali just amounted to around low to mid $30. Their butter chicken is different than the typical one you get from Indian restaurants. It still has some bone in it, and the gravy is made sweet. I still did like how the butter chicken tasted, but that is just my personal preference. I only found it too inconvenient to eat with some naan because of it still having the chicken bone.
Excellent! The price, food, taste, service everything is excellent. Everytime we eat in Ghoroa but I am happy this time we decided to try here and its a jackpot! Its much more better than Ghoroa comparing to taste and price. I would request our people to please try here at least once and decide urself. Im sure you wont regret! We took 3 naans, foot long kabab, meat mixed khichuri, one dal puri, roshmalai, butter chicken, 2 plate salads with green chatni, dal and mixed veg and one tea. And all together it costed only $40 and all the items were soo yummy! The amount was good enough for 4 people, we packed leftover for home.
Considering the price of food are dirt cheap despite the current inflation even though the quantity is a lot, most of the low starred reviews are unnecessarily harsh as if they were expecting a 5 star gourmet. The chicken Biryani is flavourful and genuinely different compared to every other restaurants Biryani which all taste the exact same and drenched in oil. The Shingara/Samosa is large and delicious. The restaurant itself is not an eye candy but that matters very little to me since I care for the taste of the food primarily. I will update the review if I ever try out other dishes.
Good food but can use a renovation.
Worst customer service!! Lady doesnt even know the C of customer service.
Poor poor customer service. We have been regular customer to this place but just cant resist myself posting this negative feedback. The lady literally shouts at people everytime. I dont get how such rude person is placed to take the order and serve the people. Such a nightmare whenever you want to ask something to her.
Rubbish food! Had their beef bihari kabab, chicken tikka, and chicken biryani today. First, the good: The beef Bihari kabab was actually not bad, nicely cooked and it looked freshly made and was juicy. The prices were reasonable - for example 8$ for a plate of biryani isn t bad and looks like they cater to students that way. Now the bad: The chicken biryani tasted like they stir fried stale bashmoti rice with some stale chicken - it was HORRIBLE! It looked like stale fried rice. Should ve kept the picture. I really hope I don t get food poisoning. The chicken tikka s exterior crust was fine, the inside meat however tasted stale - it had the same taste that an oven roasted chicken gets when it gets old. Moreover, the inside meat wasn t even that hot, meaning they didn t cook it well. I felt bad for the lady and man inside working alone since it looked like they were working hard to keep the place up. But a restaurant should have standards and the food was just not excusable.
The lady at the counter was very helpful to this first time very hungry and tired customer. The food was delicious and I will defintely be coming back for more!!! Food
I have been to this restaurant atleast 100 times but lately they sell stale foods or leftover from the previous day, and the last few times I visited this place I puked. I would request the owner to take serious action about it!
Authentic Bengali restaurant that has a lot of affordable dishes. Their menu has a lot of bhortas and fish curries. The taste of the food is decent and the value is bang for buck.
Bihari kabab is my go to order here. Some days its mediocre, some days its great. Never disappoints though.
I strongly advise against spending your money at this restaurant, as the quality of their food is absolutely appalling. The prices they charge are much higher compared to the standard they claim to uphold. As a Bangladeshi, I have a basic understanding of how these dishes should taste and how other restaurants prepare them. Unfortunately, my recent visit left me extremely disappointed. I ordered a whole Tilapia dopeyaja, Beef curry, and Faluda, and every single item was tasteless and clearly past its prime. The fish, in particular, was overcooked and clearly not prepared as dopeyaja. Instead, it seemed like they simply boiled the fish in turmeric water and added some onions on top. The beef curry was equally unsatisfactory. It was soggy, overly salty, and tasted like it had been sitting around for far too long. It appeared that they consistently relied on reheating old gravy, rather than preparing fresh dishes. To make matters worse, the consequences of consuming this food were severe. I experienced severe diarrhea after the meal, which required a visit to the doctor. If you doubt the authenticity of my review, I encourage you to try the restaurant yourself and witness the waste of your hard-earned money. However, I must warn you that you are likely to be deeply disappointed.
The food is AMAZING !! Fresh and delicious. The staff is very friendly and the prices are more than good. 5 stars
Very tasty food
Tries to bring out the authentic taste and flavor
They are very rude ! Food taste very bad.
Good food!
Food was Ok. The lady should be trained for providing good customer service. Even if its busy time you should check the food before packing and make sure you gave all the items we ordered. You just cant play a blame game or indirectly say the customer is wrong when they come back and say the last time items were wrong and moreover they got overcharged. And please dont think kids dont understand Bengali, My kid went to have 2 samosas, all he politely asked was a bit more Chutney, you just cant say 2 ta samosar sathe ar koto ki chay?? Takeout a napkin chay abar beshi Tok o chay.
Good food with better price.
My go to place for the Kolija Singara
The worst biriyani i ever had. So disappointing.
Excellent Bangladeshi food
This is our new go-to walk-to spot for weekday dinner. Not a lot of places like this left in Toronto. Tasty, fresh and on a budget. This time we went, my wife and I had Tandoori for two (4 chicken kebabs, chicken tandoori, two naans, cucumber salad) plus pulao rice and finished it off with tasty chai and it was less than $50. All in. AND we have leftovers for next days lunch. Great find.
Tried chicken biriyani. Great food with good value!
Thanks guys the food and prices are really good
Authentic foods, best Bangladeshi foods you can have in Toronto. If you are sylheti this s the right restaurant for you. Foods are cheap, also tasty and best quality. Services of Bilkis aunty was very professional and efficient. She took the orders from us with smile and brought the food on accurate time. Worth of every penny I ve spend. Thank you for giving us the deshi khana.
The best Kolija (Liver) Singara in the city and the price is reasonable. Any one should try with the Chatni ( )
Visited this place s several time for beef liver samosa with tea & bihari kabab. Service was very good. Staff are very friendly. You can find the authentic Bengali flavour of food.100% halal
Food is good so not clear at restaurants
Great place for dinner. Bilkis aunty is really cool person and her hospitality was amazing.
Good food kalo bhuna
Foods are really delicious.
I ordered mixed vegetables curry and Beef curry. Both the items were old, from yesterday and half rotten. Parking: Another day I got ticket for parking in front of this restaurant.
Save money run away. Poor customer servive anf few days old food. Not indian or bengali. Just old cold frosted food
The place doesnt look like much, but the food is AMAZING and the owner is super friendly. My wife claims they have the best butter chicken in Toronto and always asks me to bring her some home. Id highly recommend this place for take-out if you are craving Bengali food.
great location people there are so nice and the butter chicken is the best
Have been coming here for 20+ years. One of my favourite places. Excellent food and very good prices.
My all time favorite Makka restaurant keeping its standard the best
Very rude behaviour of the owener. Food is average
This place is superb for Tandoori, kebabs, naan and rice. We had a great food with great hospitality. This is very pocket friendly restaurant. Recommend for lunch and dinner. They always serve fresh food.
Bought 3 garlic naan, all burnt.ruined our dinner, threw it in garbage. Please don t serve burnt food. Ours is money too!
We started off ordering the Bihari Kabab which was quiet nice We then ordered korma and pulao and had some sort of expectation. Who doesnt know how to make pulao in a bangladeshi household? It was just not good. Specifically the rice which was the main component. The Torkari (Korma) was alright. Then we ordered kichuri which was also lacking personality with kala bhuna( the torkaris are somewhat alright) not the best. We saw that multiple people came to get the kolija samosa. The kolija had a smell so unfortunately we couldnt eat that also. Just not the best experience unfortunately.
I got onions pieces on my tea very disappointed
Out class taste and quantity with reasonable prices, I tried platter for 4 The only thing is it is hard to find the parking so I parked my car in Lowes parking lot Food
Ordered butter naan, onion kulchha and paneer makhani (chef special) and it was a disaster. We couldn t eat anything- tried getting naan out of burnt section but it was thick and uncooked. Paneer makhani - worst I have had in my life- water gravy with oil and strange kinda paneer- couldn t figure out what s that. Definitely don t recommend for any vegetarians for these items. So disappointed- spoiled our Friday dinner. . Please don t keep these items in your menu if you cannot make it . Not a good customer experience at all.
Ordered kababs and naans. Called them earlier to let them know we were coming, but told them we were dining in. Despite that, they made the food to go. Felt unwelcome because it seemed like they didnt want us to eat in. Even if we wanted to eat there, they hadnt turned on the singular space heater that was meant for the whole restaurant. It was freezing. When we tried to complain, they hid from us in the kitchen. Also, the restaurant had dirty floors. By the time we got home, the food was cold and the kababs were rubbery and hard to chew. If you wear dentures or braces, please be careful.
Love the taste of the food. Pretty fresh and clean.
Quantity is not enough for equivalent with the price.
The food might be fair priced here but the quality of the food is very low! I had ordered couple of UberEats deliveries with them and the first few were good but later the Food quality started decaying and since my recent order I got very sick! I would not recommend this low quality and unsanitary restaurant to anyone!!! Trust me you will get sick after few orders because they tend to give leftovers!!!
I ordered beef Byrany but I got chicken Byrany it was very embarrassing because I took out food for my guest . Worse customer service . They should know teeth came out doesnt mean you smiling . It s just represent you got big size tooth .
You can find desi feel on Chicken Curry
Not an ideal spot to get food from
We ordered khichuri (lentil rice), duck curry, and borhani (yogurt drink). Reasonable portions and prices. Quality and taste of food are quite homely (not too greasy)!
Had sarisha Ilish....horrible... People are so rude
ONE OF THE BEST MUTTON BIRYANI I HAVE HAD IN THE GTA! Amazing service they truly are so generous with there portions Absolutely delicious!!!!!
Food is delicious
Their food got me sick, had food poision, they dont wear mask, no gloves, I called them to tell them their food got me sick, so this way they dont serve it to other people and make a new batch and they told me we dont care, you are no food police and hung up I cant begin to explain how disgusted I am of a store with unhygienic methods of cooking and horrible customer service. The worst part is, this came from the owner.... People stay away from this restaurant unless you want to get sick or est third world style method of cooking.
Rude behavior
Delicious bengali home made food, for the price food is outstanding, professional staff & clean place
One of the worst chicken curry I had in my life.. i found out only oil but no gravy.
Not bad
I asked for beef tehari and they gave something different which is very old , dishonest business
Oily, unhealthy food
I recently started ordering from here because Im pregnant and have weird cravings. Their tilapia dopiaza whole fish is amazing. However, their service is terrible. And I can not emphasize how terrible it is. The lady at the front who takes orders is careless, she will give out food randomly and they dont match orders. If you ask her for sone napkins, shell disappear to the back or get busy doing something else. Once I asked her for a take away box, she handed me an oily stained one. I mean come on. Sometimes when its busy youll be waiting 25-40 minutes just to place your order because she takes one order and then disappears to the back. When I complimented her food I didnt even get a thank you and when she messed up my order, not a sorry or pardon me. Im only ordering there because I am craving for this fish but otherwise, to be honest Im not going to eat there again after my pregnancy brain is gone. Ive heard similar stories about that place from friends, I think if their food wasnt good, no one would go there again.
The cashier just walks out of the conversation while attending the customer. Also asked her to make two separate bills. She charged the entire bill on my friends card.
Ordered Khichuri. Got stale, sour, smelling rice! Not going back again.
My Original reveiw for this place was nothing but good things to say and a five star rating. Weve been going this place for their biryani for years. How ever two weeks ago we were there and ordered 6 chicken biryani. It took more than 45 minutes for them to put together what ever left over they had from the previous night ( we found out later). After 45 Minutes the guy in working the front told me he only has 5 chicken biryani and if it was ok to add a beef biryani. I felt something was wrong yet, I was in a hurry and my pregnant wife was waiting for food, so I said OK ! Long story short all 5 chicken biryani were bad, as soon as my wife open her biryani she said this has gone bad, and asked me to try it. Sure enough it smelled bad and was slimy. We will never go back to that place again and I strongly advise the same to any one whos thinking of going there. We all know its not a five star restaurant, but atleast have some decency to serve clean food so people can enjoy what they pay for. Absolutley disgusting and very disappointed.
i went there for a take out, they kept me waiting in the line for 10 minits then took my order, then again 10 minits wait and they gave me the wrong parcel. and the lady who was standing in the front was so cruel and rude why i told her that it was a wrong order. such a bullshitt. i am bever going back there
Food is good. Quality is fluctuating!
The best kichuri in the Town
good not best for bd kebaba
Absolutely love their garlic naan and chicken.
Excellent garlic naan & goat biryani!
Delicious food
Been coming here for years, top quality and best chicken curry Ive had. Plus the naan, very authentic and perfect
Have got the best Liver Samosa among the locality. The khichdi is fine too. Requires little cleanliness and proper bussing.
Bengali food restaurant but the taste was just okay. I took butter chicken and obviously not enough butter (or good quality butter) was there. Although the chicken was soft, it had no taste. A naan came with the package and there was no ghee and it was kinda hard. I wont say food was trash, but it was not tasty either. Atmosphere was not taste-friendly as well. Not going to take away from here again.
Will give 5 stars for Kolija shingara and beef tehari.
one of the worst restaurants have ever been to. the food smells were horrible. As Price is expensive, but quality should be good.
Delicious food place
