Ordered food from this place to be delivered for a small special occasion and honestly, the food was pretty good. Got my food in record time and everything was nice and hot. It was through UberEats and they had some deals. Got 2 orders of wings, chicken fried rice and coke cans each, plus an order of shanghai noodles. The flavours of the wings and fried rice were great, nicely seasoned. Shanghai noodles were good too, flavour just was slightly different compared to other shanghai noodle dishes in other Chinese places so I wasn't into it personally. Doesn't have that dark soy sauce colour. The whole process to get my food was 20 minutes, including the actual delivery time, which kind of scared me. And honestly was scared to order here at first given the past reviews, but I wouldn't shy away from ordering here again. Everything I ordered was overall delicious.
Ordered the family meal for take-out. Unfortunately the chicken balls are so hard as to be inedible. How old or stale must chicken balls be to go from fluffy to rock hard? That's the last time we order from here.
This used to be my go-to Chinese restaurant. Great quality ingredients, tasty food, and fast delivery. Unfortunately, like the other recent reviewer, have been experiencing issues with their chicken. I used to love the chicken balls, but the second last time I found a piece of gristle attached to bone which was unpleasant. I tried to give them another chance, and the last time the chicken was mostly gristle. Very poor quality and such a shame, because I want to return to my favourite take out place! Hopefully they change suppliers soon. Lovely amounts of vegetables in all dishes and the sauces are still tasty. The place is generally good value.
We used to enjoy this Chinese take out. It was our simple, good value, go-to choice when we didn't want to cook. But something has changed, the chicken is so dry and so rubbery now. We enjoyed the chicken balls, but it's just not good anymore. Their other dishes are still good, but nothing with chicken. Hopefully they change their supplier.
My first time ordering food from this place and I am very disappointed, on the menu, almost everything was labeled mouthwatering, but this is a bit big. The order was missing a dish, and they sent the wrong soup; the beef was gooey and pretty tasteless. I was shocked this restaurant has so many good reviews. I hope it is just one busy day.
Not sure how this place has positive reviews. The chicken they use, in their Kung Pao dish in this case, tastes like either a fake soy product or otherwise a pre cooked and frozen product from a distributor that races to the bottom. It’s thin, sinewy, gluey, rubbery, and gelatinous. The vegetables and sauce are great but completely undone by inedible meat. Far too many places in Toronto use this kind of chicken and I’m just left wondering why people are so OK with this stuff. If you ever get chicken breast that isn’t cubed in a dish like this be very wary that you’re probably getting a prepackaged frozen product that deserves to be in the garbage and not your plate.
We've ordered a couple of times from Donlands Garden Chinese Restaurant. They have a very user friendly and up to date website, super fast delivery, fresh, and tasty. Portion sizes are good, well packaged for delivery, and pricing is very fair. Our favourite so far has been the crispy ginger beef.
Kept seeing this place pop up on my Uber eats so I ordered (**from the restaurant so they didn’t have to pay any Uber fees) we got a lemon Chicken , Lo Meir noodles, Shrimp pad Thai, deep fried butterfly shrimp and spring rolls. They even threw in free chicken wings ! The guy who took my order on the phone was so nice and our bill was under $50 which is rare for a Chinese food order in this house. Whoever does the deep frying there is the teal MVP because let me tell you, the batter on the lemon chicken and spring rolls was absolute FIRE!!! We will definitely order from here again.
Canadian Chinese food, quality just like you remember. Spicy dishes not spicy enough at regular heat. Food : 4/5
Just ordered tonight and loved everything. Wonton soup was nice and hot. Chow Mein was fresh and delicious. Thank you. Food
Bad food. Ginger beef was soggy and tasteless. Used to be a good place, but wont be going again.
Consistently good quality of food. Our go to for Chinese food Food
Not recommended. I requested no egg in my fried rice; sadly there is a lot of egg. Its clear they didnt do a regular fried rice with egg but its definitely not even close to no egg. I dont know if they changed management or changed chefs, but it wasnt like this before. I actually used to order here because they accommodated my request for no egg. FYI.
This place has really gone downhill recently. The last two times the food was barely edible. Not tasty, stale, very stingy on the sauce, rice was dry and hard. This will be our last time after many years.
Fairly priced and Delicious My first time but 100% no my last time Ill keep going back for more. If youre in the area and love Chinese food this is IT. Food : 5/5
Pre-pandemic, this was a great spot to eat. Portions were larger and prices were lower. Now it s take-out only. You can get a meal cooked for free in 10-12 mins which is impressive but the quality is sub-par. I like their 10% off cash offer.
The food here is disgusting. This place should be shut down immediately. They are serving strange animals and calling it chicken. There should be a criminal investigation opened to see what the hell is going on with this place. How have they legally been allowed to operate in Toronto is beyond me. The City Inspector needs to investigate this place more thoroughly before giving it another pass and shut it down immediately. Absolutely gross and disgusting.
I ordered twice from here, and both times was extremely disappointed. First time around the food was just bland no flavour at all.... Second time the chicken was dry and so rubbery we had to throw out the chicken fried rice and the chicken balls I nearly chocked on from being so dry. Definitely not going to order from there again, even though they are just steps away from where I live.
Love food so good and it close to my home 10 minutes super nice I am in hospital about 35 minutes from restaurant still well deliver here other need to go through Uber that not good for me love this restaurant please give it try you well not regret
Didnt enjoy the food
First time ordering LAST time ordering. At first, thought it looked and smelled delicious. Nope, once you eat it, the happiness fast disappears. First, velveting the meat often makes the meat slimy because the meat is too often not cooked long enough. Slimy meat is gross! This was the Beef & Broccoli & Beef w/black bean sauce dishes. One good thing the broccoli was fresh but I always feel this dish should be made with Chinese Broccoli or even broccolini. The egg rolls were old leftovers or fried in old oil with barely any filling. The spring rolls were just ok. At least they had filling. Why??? use duck sauce packets??? instead of plum sauce? So not a great substitute. The Beef with Rice Noodles & Black Bean Sauce HUGE disappointment! Not only was the (velveted) beef an issue, but the rice noodles were not the right kind to hold up under the sauce. Maybe the restaurant should try the flat rice noodles instead and leave out the celery which was an unwanted surprise. Add to this that we both were ill with severe stomach aches and diarrhea shortly after.
We have ordered a few times from here and weve never been disappointed. My husband said the general tso chicken is the best hes ever had. The rice is easier good, not dry and clumpy. The lemon chicken is very nice. He ordered a shrimp dish once that he enjoyed but his go to is the general tso
The food is not good.
My only complaint is I wish they had egg rolls lol! This place is great. We live the dinner for 2 special. So much food for 2 people!
Think I found my new favorite east end Chinese place. Ginger beef, general chicken, and egg foo yung were all freakin delicious. Service was prompt and courteous, and they def seemed covid safe. Oh, and the vegetables in the fried rice were plentiful and fresh. Cant wait to come back.
Very good, reliable, and consistent. They did a great job with the deep fried squid! Crisp on the outside and nice and buttery on the inside. And they re always prompt!
I cant eat onion/garlic anymore so it can be really tough to find a place that can make me fresh food without those ingredients. Thanks to these guys for making me delicious food that I could enjoy!!! It was really fresh, tasty, and no sign of onion or garlic! Thank you! Will order again soon
Food quality was fine but not flavorful. Very basic. Not expensive but pricey for basic salt n pepper taste in food.
Good food, good prices, bad service. We were told to get our order in 10-15 mins. Went back in 20. They said that its not ready. Waited outside for another 10 mins. They said that there was a mistake with the order. Waited another 10-15 mins. 40-45 mins in total.
Decent old style food.
amazing customer service! originally called for pickup, but then had to change to delivery, super understanding, accommodating, and friendly! great food and reasonable prices!
Very good food. Delivery is sometimes slow, depending on the drivers knowledge of your location.
Amazing, fast service! Delicious food! Super friendly service.
Great Chinese food! Not your food court Chinese food.
Worse, greasy food I have ever had. Was such better food before Covid
General Tao ok, dumpling soup discussing, meat tasted rotten.
Tried this tonight really good. However, the honey garlic ribs were basically all bone barely any meat whatsoever. The only let down here. Won t be ordering THAT again, but will probably order here again.
Excellent fresh vegetables, tasty food and I would order from them again.
Very nice food. I have the flu right now and the chicken corn soup was very nice. The stir fried veggies were easy on my stomach. My husband loved the lemon chicken and was impressed with the amount of veggies on his cantonese chow mein.
Was very pleased with my order. I found their food very fresh and not too greasy.
I placed an order here today for the 1st time. I ordered an assortment of (Canadian) Chinese dishes. Pork with vegetables, fried rice, chop seuy, spring rolls ect. The delivery was fast and the food was very well prepared. Thank you.
Ordered Chicken Kung Pao and Beer StirFry. Really wanted to like it as I haven t had restaurant food in a very long time. Flavour was decent but the meat was weirdly mushy leaving me thinking what was wrong with the quality of meat or was it cooked properly. I do read reviews and find them helpful. I read the reviews before I ordered from here for the first time and saw rankings that ranged from 1 to 5. It was either 1 or a 5. But I would say it was underwhelming and maybe a 3. I do want to support my local businesses at this really hard time.
Beef with brocolli was very tender and delicious; chicken balls were large and sumptious- we will order again!
We just loved the food. During the pandemic, weve not gone to any restaurants or ordered take out. This was the first opportunity! The chicken balls had REAL CHICKEN inside, lol! ;) All your standard chinese fare, but it was really good!!
Our neighbours recommended Donlands Garden as theyve been ordering from them for years. We just tried it, and loved it, tonight! We will definitely be ordering from them again.
Looking for local Chinese takeout and tried this place with friends- what a terrific find! Good quality, fresh, lots of vegetables, not greasy and very speedy delivery. Excellent value too. Definitely a go to for future take out, highly recommended. Thank you
This place is so good I love this place one of best in the area
My go-to Chinese restaurant for delivery. Fresh, delicious food, delivered promptly. They handle their own delivery, which is a huge plus.
My go to for Chinese in the area. Reliable each time.
Food was fresh and simple while tasty. it was fast and the veggies were nice and big.
Great food and fast delivery
Great place for take out food. Friendly staff and food was made promptly and tasted very good. I think this place is more for take out as there are sofas to sit and wait but no tables. Nonetheless had a great experience with the take out food.
Excellent Chinese food to take out ( don t even think in eat at the restaurant) really tasty and good price 11$
Best quality for price. Cant go anywhere else. When I feel hungry I know where to go. Shrimp beef pork anything you get, never a disappointment. Ill be adding pictures next time.
Decent place...
Great food love it here
Hands down the best Chinese i have had since moving to Toronto! It doesnt look the nicest of places inside and outside but the food is great!
I ordered 3 dishes and out of the three dishes only one was good the barbecue pork slices excellent the pepper shrimp way too salty will never recommend or order again Szechuan beef with mixed vegetables didnt taste like beef Im a mother of four awful awful flavors will never order again or will I recommend it to anyone else
Worst food Ive had in Toronto. Dont waste your money.
Tasteless Chinese food.
Good quality Chinese Food.
Delivery is extremely fast sometimes. Too fast. Like it arrives in less than fifteen minutes and theyre ten minutes away. How??? Makes you wonder if food is frozen ahead of time and they just microwave everything. The food is generally okay and fairly priced. Delivery drivers always nice and friendly. But this review is really to point out that there are a few recent reviews (in the past 7 days) that appear phony. Why do I say that? Because they all come from people with fewer than 10 reviews and all talk about the WAITERS and ENVIRONMENT and eating IN. Sorry but have you ever been there? This is NOT a sit down restaurant with waiters. Its a delivery/pick-up kind of place. FAKE REVIEWS ALERT. And yes, I know this is my FIRST review while criticizing others for having only a few reviews. The difference is that Ive actually seen the place. FAKE REVIEWS ALERT!!!!!!!
I have ordered multiple times from Donlands Garden and its been decent, but today was very disappointing. The oil they used was not fresh. The chicken wings were undercooked. Sweet & Sour pork was off tasting. Spring roll wasnt fresh and tasted bitter. Very unfortunate since all my other experiences were so good. Its very obvious that whoever works Sundays isnt changing the oil in their fryer. Not cool. Order on a different day than Sunday is my suggestion.
If I could give 0 I would. 30 seconds to prepare food if I wanted mandarin delivery I d over mandarin delivery, but even mandarin has flavour.
Used to order from here frequently, but went downhill after the switch from Guest House to Donlands Garden. Quality has dropped to subpar so if youre reading older reviews you can forgo them. Theyve also raised prices over the past year and are now giving less food for the higher price. Hopefully that means its a sinking ship and some new owners can come in and turn the place around.
quick delivery. They dont deliver to certain areas, and staff are often..well, difficult.
Finally a good Chinese restaurant in the area! I find it s been difficult to find something decent in Chinese-Canadian cuisine lately and I ve had issues with the food in almost all of these restaurants, but I have not been disappointed here. The food is really tasty and any dish that comes with veggies comes with tons of them! I even liked their Thai soup which is usually sub par in other Chinese restaurants. Will keep this as my go-to!
Delivered quickly, everything still crispy, food delicious. Every time weve ordered from them, its spot on. 5/5
They have the best pastrys
My go to place for lunch. Great prices great specials.
Delicious. Reliable. Polite.
Just got take out from here and I can see why this place has high ratings. The chicken fried rice was one of the better ones Ive had in a while. The beef noodles in black bean sauce are really good to. Everything was really fresh and hot. Very fair prices.
Great food and service.
We have not ordered from here in a long while. We had a few people over on NYE and decided to revisit Donlands Garden. Our guests were very pleased and the food was delivered timely. A big hitbwas the Tofu and veg as well as the General Tao. We will re-order in the future.
Food was delicious! Ordered online, fast delivery! I call here regularly and they are always amazing.
Walked in at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 and was told not open. Website said they were open. What gives?
Great Service, Nice people. AWESOME FOOD. Delicious.
Fast service and good food. The lunch specials are a good value.
convenient. one soup is my taste
Actually the best Americanized Chinese food Ive ever had! Noodle dishes, egg rolls, chicken... Everything was perfect.
