1025 Coxwell Ave, East York, ON M4C 3G4, Canada
Long-time eatery dishing up familiar Chinese fare, including moo shu & chow mein in low-key digs.
Ordered the combo with sweet and sour chicken balls, honey garlic ribs with chicken fried rice with an egg roll. Unfortunately, the honey garlic ribs had no sauce on them so they were dry. Be careful when ordering this combo and ask for extra honey garlic sauce. Everything else was great and good portions too.
Spicy, delicious crispy shrimp 😋 Will surely be back for more takeouts.
Very quick service. I went there just before closing, and the food was ready within 5 minutes. Ordered eden special fried rice and Cantonese chowmein. The rice was good, and you can taste the wok hay. I didn't like the noodles it was blant. I had to add more soy sauce and chili sauce to make it flavorful. The vegetable size was really big, not bite-sized. Overall experience was okah
It'sba dive Chinese place while some of there dishes are ok others are fantastic. I don't like fried rice and there's is nothing special so I typically order steamed rice. There best dishes are the mapo tofu 10/10 And ant of there egg fu yung The worst C.15 beef and rice noodles they unfortunately over cook the noodles they are mushy with a weird Pepto mouth feel And the Singapore noodles (don't get those two dishes. But any of there meat dishes are fantastic (Get the mapo tofu)
Gross. Egg roll so dry that I could barley swallow it. Ordered beef with brocolli and chicken with mushroom alongside. There was probably 4 little pieces of chicken inside the entire dish. The beef and brocolli was good, but extremely small portion compared to other Chinese places. Don't waste your money here
Looking for a nice Chinese takeout dinner. Found this restaurant on uber eats really good food. We ordered 2 combo dinners #2 and #4 and Cantonese chowmein to get the best value and assortment. Our plates and tummys full and we still have left overs for tomorrow! Will definitely order here again. Another order! So delicious! So happy with this place!
Their food are tasty and the price is pretty normal for the quantity they provide. Other Chinese restaurants are more generous with portions, though. Also, If you’re not familiar with their menu, you will have a hard time choosing out items from their menu list. I found it so helpful to see the pictures of the actual food. They deliver, but I find it faster if I called in for pick up. There’s parking right at the front of the restaurant so it’s not a problem.
Excellent food, friendly staff, ground floor so easy to get in and out of for those with mobility constraints. I had the Orange beef, mushroom fried rice and bbq pork Cantonese chow main, all were good, but I've had other stuff there and I enjoyed it all. Edited: I ordered today (April '24) and I was stunned at how fast my order arrived, absolutely stunned. The store is a good 10 minute drive from my house, so when my food arrived less than 30 minutes after I ordered it, I was quite surprised. I even thought maybe I got someone else's order, but it was mine: orange beef, Cantonese Chow Mein, deep fried shrimp, pork fried rice, and lemon chicken. It was all there, piping hot, and more importantly, delicious.
A bunch of us wanted an old style Western Chinese supper and Eden was the closest to our neighbourhood. We had no expectations and decided to try it on Wednesday night. The place is not new, but was clean and neat. We ordered eight or nine dishes to share and enjoyed most. The won ton pork soup was excellent and very hot. The chicken balls kinda got a thumbs down (although all were eaten). Everyone liked the egg rolls and the spring rolls. Beef and vegs, and lemon chicken a big hit. Service was polite and food arrived fast. Our bill for everything was $70.00 which we felt was reasonable for our large feast. The take out service was bustling so that says something about their local reputation. We agreed we would come again. An update for June 2023: This was the first time we ordered delivery. We chose Eden because they have their own delivery service and not Uber or the rest of them. The difference is that a restaurants own delivery service cares about the quality and condition of the food whereas Uber and the others dont give a damn. We ordered the dinner for three which more than fille two hungry men. Again, the chicken balls were not the greatest but they were all eaten. A special note that the hot and sour soup was exceptional and packed in a virtual non spill container. The other dishes were tasty and more or less exactly what you would expect from this type of restaurant. All of the food arrived hot...not warm...hot. A good experience that will be repeated. Update October 2024. Sadly, things have changed at this restaurant. We went to have a dine- in meal and were disappointed. Firstly, the server informed us that they no longer have dishes we would have to eat from styrofoam take out containers. Because we were already there and seated, we agreed. We ordered an old favourite Hot and Sour soup. We received Sweet and Sour soup which was too sweet to eat. We ordered dry ribs and received ribs in sauce. OK, but not what we ordered. The two other dishes were fine and tasty. We had ordered steamed rice and did not receive until we were almost finished. The place was still clean and tidy, but our overall experience was not that enjoyable. I used go recommend to others as being a great old style western Chinese place, but maybe not anymore. Probably OK for take-out.
My friend and I got food poisoning.
Received my order and the mushroom fried rice tasted burnt, deep fried chicken wings taste like the oil they were fried in was old. Horrible. Will never order from Eden again
I ordered and the sweet and sour pork was disgusting. When I called to complain they hung up on me. Terrible experience and terrible food
Food good and decently priced. However got into a spat over extra hot sauce packets on a 40$ order. I mean come on, 4 packets for 6 people being fed. Asked for more and he said no. I personally go once a week, but this time I treated friends. It was so disappointing... I dont understand why you gotta be so stingy on the hot sauce! Edit: never have a problem when asking for hot sauce now. 4 for atmosphere because its just basic and hasnt been changed since I first discovered them in high school over 14 years ago!
Ordered for the first time tonight and 100% will be ordering from here again. We got the sesame chicken, lemon chicken, general tso, chicken balls, pork lo mein, egg rolls and everything was delicious. After trying a bunch of places and reading lots of reviews over the last 4 years I have lived here, I have never found a place I would, or have, ordered a second time until now. I can finally say I have found my new place and can stop my search for yummy chinese food in my area! This opinion was shared by everyone in my family. I will order from here next time 100% I also found the price to be fair, not exspensive and not cheap, just right, which is a huge selling point these days. Will update if my opinion changes.
I honestly dont know how you guys listen to all these karens and kens leaving obviously over dramatic reviews. You are better people then me because If I had the ability like you to reply I would put them on blast. Yummy food and fair price! Keep it up and f-them they will always be miserable people who significant others are seeing other people because they resent them for how miserable they are.
Great wonton soup !!!!
Good food for quite cheap and the service is probably the fastest out there! Just wish the staff were kinder but otherwise good experiences here.
Thanks you for my order ! The food is so good ! Order : 2057007
My husband has been purchasing Chinese food from Eden since 1965 and we will be with them as long as we or they are around. Great food always piping hot and delicious.
Not impressed, mostly because, although they have sit down tables and chairs, there was nothing to indicate that they only did takeout. Hence, I sat at the table and ate out of disposable plastic container, with a tiny plastic fork and spoon. Wont be back.
Eden is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. It used to be still pretty good, things/cooks alone the way, change, I guess. so things have gotten packaged smaller, and prices are ovi higher. I still only eat here, tho I havent tried another place in a while. So a good choice. It has gone downhill, just a notch, tho.
Beware! My family have regularly ordered from EDEN, either by delivery or pickup, since moving into the nearby East York neighbourhood in May of 2017. We ve spent thousands of dollars on EDEN. We ve stayed as loyal customers even as prices have climbed & quality has dropped .for example food is greasy, we ve found chicken cartilage & human hair in it & the store is dirty. We ve actually felt sick after eating their food the last few times. Plus, even when they dropped off the wrong order and we called to tell EDEN, they pompously refused to send the correct one or give a refund. They had no customer appreciation at all & just made excuses. We highly recommend that you get your Chinese food anywhere else!
Its a Fam favorite, its not gourmet but its tasty and you get big portions. Id recommend get it as take away. We have had issues regarding missing items but they were very accommodating to replace the items
The food was way too salty and greasy, plus there was barely any meat in either the sweet and sour chicken balls or spare ribs. And the wonton noodles were stale. To top it off, the food gave me an upset stomach. Definitely will not be ordering again.
Ive only had take away here, but the food is always good, fresh and flavourful, and prepared quickly.
Very disappointed The the mixed veg and Singapore vermicelli had very limited variety of vegetables, mainly broccoli, buckchoy and onion, with two pieces of mushroom and one piece of carrot. Same with the vegetable curry, plus the curry had absolutely no flavor, it was just yellow sauce.
I ordered chow mein noodles with vegetables and I have no idea how pork/shrimp/chicken/duck ended up being in my order! Besides the noodles taste like paper! I m very disappointed!
Had a wedding dinner there. Service was excellent!!
Worst food ever..tried it before and it was garbage..made mistake over a year later and ordered again and it was soooooo bad..no joke.STAY AWAY!!@#$#%
Shrimp fried rice? Odd after taste with 4 small pieces of shrimp total. Sesame chicken? More like hard fried pieces of bread with little to no chicken. Only decent thing was the spicy squid. Will not be ordering again.
The worst chinese food ive ever had dinky portions and nasty taste. Never again will i eat food from here.
Delicious food, good service, and i like the decor, though I havent eaten in. Their fried rice is smoky and savoury and complex, their wonton soup broth is balanced, flavourful and comforting, and i absolutely love their barbecued pork. Garlic bok choy is crispy and well balanced. Prices are great. One of my favourite places. (Note: im only likely to review places i like - theres places im meh about and places i dislike, but i likely just wont review them).
Been coming here for almost 7 years and have never been disappointed. The food is consistent and portions are generous. Even on hot summer days I cant pass up their BBQ pork wonton soup - the broth is rich and savory with lots of wontons. Their ginger beef with pineapple is another favourite: tender beef mingling with julienned ginger and surprising pops of sweet fruit contrast beautifully. Everything from the Shanghai noodles to the cashew peanut chicken is a delight for the taste buds! Dont come here expecting high brow pretentious food - this is homestyle comfort food at its best.
Great food, but weve been going there 20 years. They still never say how are you after All this time
Came at 11:30 on Friday, with a hunger. Their spring rolls were fresh and crisp, and general taos chicken was delectable.
Prior to covid this place used to be a decent place for food, today I picked some food up and it was just greasy tastes terrible. Will not go again.
Amazing food!
The best fried rice!! Not the biggest fan of the General Tso s sauce but the chicken was good quality.
1st time here and possibly the last. Woman taking the orders is uninterested in any questions. Let s see how the food tastes! Update - do not waste your hard earned money here. All the food ordered was soooo salty and extremely greasy. General Tao is red sauce and chunks of batter
Favorite Chinese food in Toronto.
It s pretty good . Its western Chinese food . What do you want???? How does the rating vary so much????
Tried for the first time and was not impressed. Did take out. Ordered chicken chop suey, honey garlic spare ribs, chicken fried rice, and Cantonese BBQ pork chow mein and some drinks. Chicken chop Suey was bland, rubbery chicken bits with bean sprouts and lots of mushrooms. It was very, very watery from being mostly sprouts. Not much flavour. Honey garlic spare ribs didnt arrive. They replaced it with some sort of fried pork slices which was mostly flour and sauce. Chicken fried rice had maybe 3-4 tiny bits of chicken. Rice tasted old. Cantonese BBQ pork was ok. Also very watery. Our drinks were also forgotten..... Which Im not sure how that happened. Someone was marking off the items on the list with a pen and just never put the drinks in the bag. $50.00. Would save your money.
Food never came. It just never showed up. Couldn t call as they weren t answering their phone. Will never go to this place again.
Very poor service. Food was over 30 minutes late, after we ordered it an hour earlier. To top it off, the order was incorrect when we got home. Food was cold and 80% filler. Likely to never order from here again.
There s a reason that this place has been around since 1959. Best in the area!
Been coming here since I was in highschool years ago, I try to get grab the lunch special anytime Im in the area
Really amazing food. As a long time beacher, and Queen Street resident, I have always loved Honeybee. Eden is my new favorite, although further away, great portions, and love the shrimp rolls. Flipping between the two is sometimes difficult, but Eden is definitely an A+.
DO NOT ORDER AT THIS PLACE. Service was awful, and they give you dry and cold food. Not recommend this place at all.
Amazing Chinese food! Great value and tastes good. Been looking for a Chinese take-out place that delivers to the beaches AND have delicious deep fried chicken wings - this is THE ONE. Nice staff and yummy food! So so happy I found this place
Absolutely the go to place to get Chinese food in Toronto. Great prices my go to place when its late and craving Chinese food
Take Cantonese chow main I ask to fried the noodle a bit they say they always do but this is the second time I order when I go home sure the noodle was soft taste a lot of MSG two time is so so Chinatown it s much better but price is right good for fill up
Im visiting Toronto and ordered from this place. Unfortunately I got the house number mistaken and got delivered to the neighbors instead. I thought I never got my order so I made a negative review on uber eats and I apologize. I found the food and it was delicious. Im very sorry for my unfair review on the app, Im giving you 5 stars here to balance it out.
Not impressed by their Cantonese Chow Mein. Soggy noodles. Tasteless. I feel like they forgot to add any seasoning. It was very weird. Small portion of noodles also. The fried chicken wings were super salty and greasy with thick breading. The actual wing is small and dry. Usually this restaurant hits the spot, but certainly not with these two dishes.
If you want a meal that u can enjoy/eat i would go elsewhere. They cheap out on everything from meat to the hot suace u ask for ,but load up the rice. So not worth it.
Very happy with fried rice, spicy eggplant, deep fried squid. We order then over and over again. Friendly delivery service!
Its tasty. In the neighbourhood. And theyre fast. Love the Shanghai noodles.
Perfect traditional take out / delivery Chinese food. Delicious in every way. Will be my go to moving forward.
Fantastic
I ve ordered once here before but got turned off by their spring onion pancakes because it was literally..a pancake.... but it s supposed to be a thin layer of flour, not biscuit like. So I ve been weary of this place for that. BUT. I gave them another chance and wow, blown. I don t usually review ubereats deliveries bc lowkey shameful of myself haha. This needed one though. I was going to take a picture but I wanted to try the food first. I ended up eating the whole thing because it was SO tasty. I ordered the mooshu beef I ve never had this, but I wanted to give it a try. Little did I know, it would be my new favourite dish. The flour pancakes was such a good compliment to the super tasty sauce. I love having it with meat. The egg rolls, crunchy and filling. I love it. New fav takeout place.
This place is great! Fast service and terrific food!
Good lemon chicken and beef with broccoli
My husband and I have been ordering from this place for over 20 years. We love their food.
Ordered the Combination Dinner 1 and 4 on uber eats a few nights ago and the rice in both dinners were BURNED. The rice makes up majority of the dinner and my little brother and I couldnt stomach more than a couple bites. We ate the other items in the box but we were still hungry. Didnt even get refunded on uber eats, were very unhappy with this experience. Will not be ordering from them again.
Food was delivered in 18min :) and was excellent. Chicken wings were very crispy and just drizzled with a sweet and sour sauce to keep them crunchy. Everything is very well made and came hot and fresh! This is our new place.
Very tasty and flavourful
Fav take-out! Great service and food :)
Delicious fresh food
Terrible service. They sent the wrong dish and forgot the drinks. It took them an hour to come back and still they shorted us on the drinks. When I called again they said I should be happy because I got extra dish from the error. Waiting an hour and having to reheat the food, and still short us on drinks really mess up dinner for my guest and I. FYI, No one was interested in chicken/mushrooms they brought by mistake.
Ate there for over 30 yrs ordered the usual Price went up 25 % from 50 to 60 dollars Now 80.00 too rich for takeout Chinese food
I made a pickup order request online. Was told 15 minutes. I probably had to wait an extra five minutes once I arrived. It seemed like the dinner rush. The food was excellent. The biggest critics, the children, loved the dishes we selected - mushroom fried rice, some fried pancake thingy, an eggplant dish in soy or oyster sauce, and sweet and sour pork (I think). I am looking forward to our next order. So much to choose from. :)
The staff looked miserable when making food and taking orders, and the food wasnt too great (the chicken fried rice was only tiny chunks of chicken and brownish rice). All their soups look red, which isnt appetizing.
My parents ordered from them since before they moved to north coxwell, they used to be on Gerrard near greenwood, I still order from there to this day, never had a bad dish, maybe soggy chop suey once, no big deal. I avoid using food ordering services always pick up my damn self, half of these bad reviews are uber/skip/dash ffffffing up
My dad started the business in 1959 and sold the place 20 years ago. Glad its still going strong.
Me and my gf have been ordering from this restaurant for give or take 6 months and we will not order from any where else. Best take out Chinese for in east york!
Best chinese food in East York!!
I liked this place until tonight. I ordered a dish, emphasized i was allergic to shrimp and to omit it from the order. I started eating and felt my throat begin to swell up. I quickly dug in around the food and found a tonne of shrimp at the bottom. When I called the woman who takes orders couldn t have cared less telling me sometimes they forget and that I shikk up don t order food with shrimp in it if I m allergic not taking any responsibility and putting all onus on me. I asked if she was sorry and she said she didnt understand. I told her if I hadn t medication to stop the effected of my allergy I d me in the hospital and could have died. She laughed, seriously laughed. I yelled for her to say sorry and she yelled it back at me then told me she was busy there were a lot of orders and the phone was busy with callers. Eden restaurant on Coxwell ave in TO ON Canada should be closed down immediately, never allowed to cook/sell food to the public act and the staff and owners should be fined for such irresponsible business practice.
the food is great service is great
Cheap and cheerful Canadian-Chinese food. Good service, food a bit too greasy for my tastes, but then again, I ate it all.
Soild 3 out of 5
Consistently great food for many years. Fast fresh and friendly
Best Canadian style Chinese food in East York. family owned for over a decade, very fast service , and great tasting food. Ive been eating here with pride for almost half my life. The lunch combos are a steal, $6-7 for a fat plate of food, lots of choices as well. The Yang Chow fried rice is really good, and they dont skimp on the shrimp and BBQ pork . Cantonese style Chow Mein is really good as well, lots of chicken, pork, and seafood. Combo B with just chicken is my favorite, its perfect if youre looking for something inexpensive. Delivery times are astonishing, food comes blistering hot and with a smile. You can always eat in if you like, big tables and the hockey games are usually on. Super cheap beer as well, if thats your kind of thing.
good food BAD service
This place has been around a long time. My mom would only order Chinese food from here. When I moved back into the area 20 yrs later, I ordered from them to see if it was the same as I remembered and it was. I too will only order from here. Good food and fast delivery.
Are you hungry and low on cash? This is the place to order from. Big servings, cheap prices and filling meals are the staple of this establishment. Obviously this isnt the best place to get chinese food since its not exactly authentic but hey, you get what you pay for and thats something a lot of people dont realize with about this place.
This place is a hit or miss with ne sometime I really enjoy my good other times I did not. Its close to home so I keep going.
Quick good quality
Very good, reasonably priced food.
Enjoyed the food good quality really loved beef and snow peas from here but whole meal is really good also!
Love the food here even with delivery. Will definitely order again and hopefully also eat in one day. Food is so tasty, fresh and pricing is very good.
More takeout then dine in foods good tho
Bad Attitude when told the food was cold upon delivery. They hung up after telling me not to order there any more. #badbusiness
I walked in and ordered a beef & broccoli on steamed rice, and about three minutes later the fellow yells hey, beef with broccoli!, and I paid him $8.00 cash. I took it home (the place is kind of worn looking) and was delighted with the flavour and freshness, and there was lots of food. Tasty take-out and good value.
The food tasted undercooked and carried a strange sent. Unappetizing to say the least.
Ordered take out 60 dollar order arrived with sweet and sour sauce and no chicken balls rice and egg rolls tasted burnt ..never order here again...
I will never spend with them again.. They messed up my order .. I asked the man for my change it wasnt right.. He said u cant count ?? I gave him back the food and demand my money.. If I cant count have some manners with your costomers !!!! Never again !!!!
Great food, but they forgot our egg rolls for takeouts
Fast service, good tasting food
Not impressed thats for sure
Delivery took over 75 minutes
The food is alwsy good i love yhe pok fried rice and breaded shrimp yumm yumm
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT!!!!! Firstly, the food was 40 minutes late for a total of 1.45 hours for chinese takeout. There was a metal NAIL in my food. I bit into my egg roll and my mouth started to bleed as the tiny metal nail cut the roof of my mouth. I called the restaurant and their solution was to send me 1 egg roll as a replacement. I gave all of the food back to the restaurant and asked for my money back and they refused. I contacted just eats, where I ordered the food, they also contacted the restaurant asking for my money back and they refused again. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL! Can you imagine if i swallowed the nail and what would have happened?
Great deals, decent prices and good food, for the Chinese fast food market anyway.. cheap beer also!
DONT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE YOU WILL S*IT YOURSELF WHILE EATING
Usually get delivery, but picked up this time. Good food, cheap prices. New tables.
Our go to Chinese food spot
Not bad for the price and fast food
Horrendous decided to try for the first time and I couldnt even eat it do not go here!
Normally its pretty good tonight it was horrible
I earlier gave a wrong review by accident. t Eden is a 4 to 5 star not 1
Happened across this place by chance and the food was amazing!!! Will definitely be ordering from here many more times in the future.
Exceptional staff, very fast service, and the food is spectacular. Also the menu is extensive.
Great Food, Love the breaded shrimp. Delivery is quick also.
We will not be ordering from this restaurant again. The chicken balls and battered shrimp were really not good. Overall no flavour. I didnt think anyone made Chinese food like this anymore.
30 minutes late for not great food.
Best Chinese in the area.
Staff was rude. I tried asking for thick noodles. She pointed at the menu and walked away. There were no pictures in the menu. Eventually she came came back after standing around and helped me. Food was extra greesy (more than usual for this type of food) and was average tasting.
The food is amazing. The service is amazing. The atmosphere is amazing. If I lived closer I would live there. This is a nice family restaurant, it makes me feel at home.
Been eating there my whole life, since Gerrard Street, but the last bunch of times ordering it has been greasier and greasier, think it is time to switch which is unfortunate.
First time ordering here the woman was very rude and rush. We called to comfirm the address as the food hadnt arrived and it had been over an hour. The same person answered seemed annoyed and hung up as if they couldnt hear us speaking... They rang our bell 4 straight times upon arrival.
OMG. WHAT A WASTE OF MY MONEY! PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY, 1. Sweet and Sour Chicken totally salty and drenched in so much sweet n sour it looked like it was something radioactive. The chicken felt tough and old..doubt it was prepared the same day. 2. Fried Dumpling - they gave me boiled dumplings they placed on one side in a pan for a couple minutes and burnt. I know the difference between fried and boiled dumpings. This was just boiled that they tried to pass off as fried. 3. Rice had no vegetables of anything, was old and tough as well. COULDNT EVEN FINISH THIS FOOD IT WAS SO DISGUSTING. Into the garbage it went and I ordered from somewhere else because it was my birthday and I didnt want my meal to suck. EW EW EW. NEVER will I give this place my money again. Not to mention customer service was horrendous when I called to complain about the state of my food. Their excuse was thats how they do it. UGH.
terrible service when you really need them, they post hours that they cant seem to follow through with.
Cheap and quick, close to the newly reopened LCBO. Not fine dining nor super authentic, but good value.
Food was warm but it felt like it had been sitting for a while Chickballs Fried Rice Chicken Chowmain spring roll the chicken balls and spring roll tasted burnt almost as if the oil had not been changed in a while the Fried rice was more oily than fried but it was okay I didnt think it was super bad but it surely wasnt good! Chicken chowmain was good The restaurant is very old and kind of looked like a shady joint could use a fix up your food could just a little bit more love and care. and smile a little.
Ordered here Religiously. Best spicy chicken fried rice in the city.
Good Chinese food. Good prices. Nice, cheap dinner specials.
