942 Pape Ave, East York, ON M4K 3V5, Canada
Everyday eatery serving Greek classics like souvlaki, paidakia & gyros, along with seafood & salads.
My go to place for Gyro’s in the area. Have been to all the other competitors and they unfortunately have all raised their prices. This is what actually got me to try Pape Village in the first place. That being said, I’m glad they did because these are the most affordable and best tasting gyros in the east end.
A lovely local spot with absolutely delicious Greek food! The potatoes are so lemony and they melt in your mouth. The meat is tender and cooked excellently. The salad is fresh. The service is friendly and attentive. The prices are so reasonable. We'll definitely be back!
Small place, big portions. I enjoyed the gyro and the plate I ordered. As mentioned before, the gyro was big for the price (10$) and tasty. Fries, chicken and pitas were good as well. Might come again if in the area.
(edit) I understand some food requires more prep time but that's not the case. the table next to us arrived at least 15 mins after us got served first with GRILLED food. I rarely give low rating but this was very disappointing experience.(edit end) food is good but the wait time ..geez when we got there, there was no other customer and it weren't rush hours. for some reason we had to wait for almost 30 mins for a sandwich and a salad. other that came after us got served first. feel neglected the whole time. nice atmosphere though
Patio atmosphere is amazing for dinner time, service is great, food is delicious, portion size is quite generous. My wife came here with her colleagues and really liked it. Big fan of the souvlaki dinner and spicy sausage, would highly recommend those!
Delicious and as authentic as you can get close to the Danforth. Generous portions and great flavours. Small, but mighty.
Really big and generous portions, tasteful and fresh ingredients, really happy with my visit to this restaurant I would definitely come back I highly recommend
Was amazed by the food and the dining setting. Roasted lamb was rich and juicy, highly recommended! Pork shank was too salty, so were the carrots and potatoes sides. Both the two we ordered were not on menu. They have pork shank ready in containers/cook area. Also we came to know they had roasted lamb that day after chatting with one of the staff there. The place is kinda squeezing, but they have everything you need set up. Staff were also friendly and good vibes there.
This is a perfect example of a traditional Greek taverna with traditional Greek fare. The lemon potatoes were smooth and buttery, the kontosouvli was juicy and delicious, specially the chicken, the village Greek salad was fresh and delicious. Definitely a must try!
Amazing
Very good again. Opa
The best chicken souvlaki dinner in the area, which says a lot because this is greektown. The chicken, the POTATOES everything was delicious both times I ordered from here (and very filling). I can t wait to try other items on the menu.
We heard about this place so.we thought we would make a reservation and give it a try. We went with friends for dinner and we were amazed on how delicious the food was and very generous with the portions. We highly recommend this place and would definitely return very soon.
Very good food, well priced, nice friendly service. Glad to have it in the neighbourhood.
Food was good and very friendly staff will visit again.
came here for an impromptu lunch with friends, and they immediately accommodated us for a table of seven on a very busy lunch hour and we were so grateful because it was the most delicious food. Everyone had such a great time. Thank you all so much!
Great food! Staff is very attentive to your needs. Would definitely go back. Yamas!!
Pork pitas was like boot leather .food took very long to come out and wasnt even busy ..service was non chalont..never again ..plenty of other restaurants with quality food and service
Great place for geek food in the neighbourhood. I always passed by and saw that the place is always crowded, then I decided to go there, I wished I went there before because the food is delicious. The portion of the chicken souvlaki is great, much bigger than I expected. Great service too.
Chicken souvlaki was succulent and tasty.
The staff were helpful friendly didnt demand or ask for tip for ordering food to take home. The restaurant was clean and decor beautiful
A place to go eat well, and out. Solid fare,a bit pricey, but what isnt these days?
Nice Greek place to grab a quick lunch
This restaurant is unbelievable... from the food to the atmosphere and the amazing staff that works there.... simply outstanding. Nikos, the head chef, is legit the BEST Ive ever tasted. Dont think twice... come eat here!
Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Highly recommend. The gyros were point on like we had in Athens.
Hidden Gem. Probably the best Greek restaurant in the city off the radar in terms of not being part of the Danforth strip. Traditional Greek food as well as more mainstream Greek dishes. Everything is super tasty.
The tsatziki was amaaazing Vegetarian options: Salades, dips Food : 5/5 |
Very unprofessional staff!
Worst customer service, food was stale and the taste was worst! The attitude the staff has got and the place is not clean.
Absolutely. Amazing restaurant with fantastic inexpensive prices for the quality of food. It was twenty-two or twenty-three dollars for an octopus appetizer, and I got half an octopus. For thirty-six dollars, I got one skinny arm down at christinas. I could not say enough good things about this restaurant. The only downside I could say was their gyro . They do this chicken cut up stir fry thing. Its not the typical slice off from a big side of veal and lamb . Its not my favorite, but other than that, everything is excellent.
Do you want to feel home? You come to this restaurant Nick the chef is the best Food
Excellent specials. Great tasting authentic Greek food.
Service was terrific and the food was great.
Authentic greek tastes by a master of grill, quick and polite service, nice music in the background and quiet neighborhood! Huge portions as well!
Amazing Greek food, the hostess , waiters makes feel like home
Best gyro in the city.
Tried this place for the first time the other day and wow..Great food, friendly service. Don t think twice Give this place try. They will not disappoint Kid-friendliness: Friendly service
I was looking forward to Greek hospitality, accommodating service, and above all, quality fresh food. I loved the dip and bread, and the village salad was good. However, the waiter was not attentive to the non-Greek speaking members of our party of four, which put me off. All patrons should be listened to, and waiters should show interest in what order preferences they have. I had ordered the chicken on the spit, and it was oily and not fresh. When I complained about it, I was told it was lemon juice. There was no attempt to make it right. It was not busy, so I really did expect fresh, hot food. Even when we ordered potatoes on the side later, they were on the cold side. I expected higher quality and friendliness from a Greek-run establishment.
My absolutely FAVOURITE Greek food spot!!
Poor service.
Nice restaurant with nice location
This was the best Greek food Ive had in a very long time. Real Greek homecooking. Absolutely juicy and delicious. Thank you! Looking forward to coming back very soon.
The food here is delicious
Good food, and plenty.
Follow @bredgyeats for yummy food pictures! A giant slab of pork shank is the protein hit I need after walking to this restaurant. A deep, colourful sear brings a delicious Maillard flavour that coats moist and tender meat fibres. The roasted potatoes also get the same treatment and will make you appreciate the invention of grilling.
Great food
Delicious gyros, best in the area.
Authentic
Great portions and friendly service! I highly recommend this spot.
Great place if you are looking for more authentic Greek dishes than just souvlaki. Good prices too.
Fantastic as usual!
The only place that tastes like Greece!!! BEST gyro in Toronto (weve tried them all), nice selection of daily dishes, generous portions, reasonable prices. Chef Niko and Nikoletta work so hard to offer fresh and DELICIOUS home cooking- better than my giagias! Vegetarian options: Salads, calamari, spanakopita, sometimes Ive seen a vegetarian daily dish ( ex. Calamari in sauce) Parking: Typical city street parking that you pay for. Free parking up the side street if you can find a spot. Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance is street level with no steps. The space in the restaurant is tight but Im sure they would move a table to make you comfortable.
I like this place but last time I ordered pork chops and it was very dry and tough. I couldn t eat it. Everything else were great, potatoes, salad, rice and bread full of flavour. But the main dish was a disappointment.
We ordered two chicken gyro and one chicken souvlaki on pitas. Greek fries and greek salad and a side of tzatziki. When we got home we realized that they did not give us the tzatziki that we paid $8 for. Food was good. Other than the big piece of fat that I bit into at the end of my chicken gyros. Little upset that they are a 30 min drive away and I didn t get my tzatziki.
Good food, and close by.
Excellent lamb, beef and chicken dishes. Try the family platter. Lemon potatoes and Greek salad are to die for. Great family owned restaurant with very warm service.
Love it - best Greek food on and near the Danforth period.
I consistently return to Pape Village Greek Restaurant for delicious Greek food in a pinch. The portions and flavours are great, especially the Souvlaki dinners. Cant go wrong.
All over great experience
The overall atmosphere was nice, but unfortunately when we went, the server tried his best to treat his customers and was perhaps a little bit understaffed that night. The dishes we ordered were the pork souvlaki entree and mixed gyros platter. Portion size, they were great. But on the pork souvlaki, the meat seemed almost cardboard dry, felt it was under seasoned and overcooked. The potatoes and rice on the other hand, tasted well made. The salad was OK. On the mixed Gyros platter, it had a pretty good flavor to it, but unfortunately like the pork souvlaki, the meat felt overcooked. Its really a shame to see the dishes go this way, weve had a great family takeout a few years ago. Im on the fence on whether or not Id go back...
A Greek place that tastes like home and what else do you need when youre hungry for authentic Mediterranean fare? Tried the lamb shoulder with potatoes and other veggies. It was cooked perfectly and tasty. Recommended for groups up to eight or ten but Id make reservations just to be sure. Food
The food was very delicious and flavourful, big portions. The staff was attentive.
4 of the last 5 times that we came to Pape Village restaurant they did not have kontosouvli and did not have gyro. In all 5 instances we arrived before 7:00pm on a Friday or Saturday night. This is poor planning and is unacceptable for any restaurant on a prime evening, like a Friday or Saturday night, to say that they do not have it was a busy lunch . It takes us an hour to get to this restaurant , only to be disappointed. My suggestion to all , is to call first before going to this restaurant.
Best authentic Greek food in the city
Great service, Great food. Friendly staff
Outstanding
Fantastic food and great portions for a reasonable price. This was our first time getting takeout from Pape Village, and we will DEFINITELY be going back. Not only was the chicken and pork souvlaki delicious, but the rice and potatoes were both super flavourful. An excellent alternative to expensive Danforth restaurants.
Their pitta bread raps are one of the best in town!
Amazing food! Best Greek I ve ever had. Maria was phenomenal and highly recommended this hidden gem.
First time here today, walked in around 1:30PM. We got seated right away. Ordered the souvlaki entrees and gyro pita. Food was very fresh, very generous portions and well priced. We would definitely eat here again! Service was great, fast and very friendly staff.
Best homemade Greek cuisine in Toronto
The food is very good and they are very accommodating with food restrictions. I ordered takeout and was very pleased with my meal. Dietary restrictions: The personnel were able to confirm there werent any dairy ingredients in the meal.
Delicious food, friendly service.
Excellent
Authentic Greek food. Youll think youre in Athens.
Very bad and rude service.
Amazing service great food !
I order their takeout all the time, it s my favourite Greek place!
Without exaggeration, the best souvlaki in Canada and of course it competes with the best souvlaki in Greece!! Congratulations on the quality and service!!!
I ordered two chicken gyros I get one and it s already nasty and fatty. And the second gyro is like a different kind of chicken. It s like they ran out of gyro and gave me chicken that s brown and nasty
Best tzatziki sauce in Greektown!! Ive lived in the neighborhood for 15+ year so I think I have a decent enough perspective without any agenda. Great Food
Not a good place to visit
Very friendly, everyday fresh
Got the bifteki and it was so so good. Juicy and unexpectedly big portion! Definitely ordering more.
This place is wonderful! Love the food and staff. Its always great and the price is amazing!
Amazing food friendly service always fresh
Neighborhood greek restaurant, highly recommended over the ones on Danforth. Visited for lunch and loved it so much, oredered take out for a family get together. With the exception of lamb chops (too dry), liked everything we ate. My favorites are the fried eggplant, which is simply perfection (creamy goodness without being too oily) and the no-name sausage.
Food is low sodium and very delicious I bought take away for my kids
Kid-friendliness: They cater your kids need and with excellent service. Food
This place has awesome Greek food to say the least that s as authentic as you will find here in Toronto. We ordered some food via delivery and it still was awesome so I can t wait to go Dine in one day as it s probably even that much better when served hot and fresh. Their Souvlaki Dinner was good overall but our favourite today was their Gyro on a Pita. Both the Pork and Chicken Pitas were loaded up and tasted delicious and well worth the $10 price as this might now be my new favourite spot for Gyro in Toronto. I m sure to go Dine in one day and will report back with any other favourites for sure
My first time to eat in this place and its worth it. Foods are really great
The food is excellent, and the service is great.
Torontos Greek food finest.
Best greek food in the city and great price
Hubby and I stopped in during our walk. The place was packed, but they were able to seat us within five minutes. I felt like I was in a little restaurant in Greece. Gina, our server was amazing, she was attentive, and she was sweet and she remembered our names. (Big + for me) We ordered pork, shish kebab, sticks, and Horiatiki salad. The salad was chilled to perfection fresh and tasty. The pork was a beautiful cut of meat and super tasty and moist. The whole ambience is friendly. The clientele are regulars, and everybody knows everybody!! such a great environment. Will definitely be back!
This place is amazing for Authentic Greek food. Food is superb! Highly recommend. Clean and friendly staff. Love it here! Vegetarian options: Many! Parking: Plenty of spaces on the side streets!
Good food and friendly staff
Great Greek food, right price! Please never change
Fantastic authentic greek food, excellent service and prices, and a nostalgic ambience make this our go-to Greek spot!
Great service, great food, great atmosphere, great value compared to the Danforth Greek restaurants. Try the Kontosouvli pork if you want to switch it up.
Our favorite Greek restaurant around is Pape Village. A family run operation with absolute pros at every post. Everything on the menu is out of this world. The moussaka is such a hit. We absolutely love 5he takeout as well as eating in at Pape Village, chances are every table will be full when you go a dinner time... its worth the wait.. Cheers. Parking: There is paid parking of Pape Ave. Kid-friendliness: They have tables and chairs children can sit it, but if you are looking for a jungle gym, then dont have one of those.
If you want some yummy Greek food made by some actual Greek people, dont go to some fancy spot on the Danforth, come here!
What was meant to be an enjoyable patio dining experience turned into an unfortunate encounter with racism and utterly disappointing food and service. The waitstaff consistently overlooked our table, disregarding our attempts to catch their attention for a simple glass of water. To make matters worse, they forgot to bring us a gyro plate we ordered - our hunger grew while our patience dwindled. Their lack of attentiveness was not only unprofessional but also made us feel marginalized and invisible. As a customer, I believe its our responsibility to hold businesses accountable for their actions. Racism, even when its subtle like in this case has no place in society. I sincerely hope that this review brings attention to the unjust treatment we experienced and prompts the management rectify these issues immediately.
I great food and if you only eat seafood they have an amazing grilled octopus very delicious.
Food smells of lighter fluid and this restaurant stinks up the entire neighborhood. Could not enjoy our food in the patio because the smell was so bad. Feel bad for the neighbors
Great authentic greek food! Small but worth the wait if theres a line up. One of the last true authentic places left at a reasonable price. Would eat here every week if I was close by. Food : 5/5
Great food. The best Greek place in Toronto!
Can t go wrong with the gyros or souvlaki dinners
Provided food faster than expected and gave extra service to help hand the food.
Super authentic!!
Great find by my son. Amazing food and what a great value. Food portions were large and tasty. Really authentic Greek cuisine. Loved it, and will go back.
Man sleeper for Greek eats. Better than Danforth. Order and eat here. So good!
Amazing food and staff are super helpful and friendly!
Amazing, amazing and I can go on. Our second time here, and more reasons to vouch for this awesome establishment. Food was excellent but service was way above average. The thoughtful staff even brought a cake/dessert for my sons birthday. We will definitely be back. Thank you Nicholas and others.
Great choice of homemade foods..awesome service.. Vegetarian options: Various vegetarian dishes.. Food : 5/5 |
Literally the best Greek food I ve ever had - very close to the danforth but because it s a couple blocks away it means free parking on streets, more affordable pricing and simply outstanding food! Going back again very soon! Parking: Can find spaces to park on side streets very close to the restaurant on east or west side of pape Kid-friendliness: Lots of choices for kids
Excellent food and service, much better than the majority of restaurants on the Danforth. First time but wont be my last.
Delicious appetizers and sandwiches. Love the village salad. Service was good and the patio had a nice atmosphere.
Enjoyed a really nice meal here last night with friends, which felt like premium service without the price tag. We sat around the table and enjoyed Bread and Wine, followed by food better than any I ve ever had down on The Danforth. The flavour of my Chicken Gyros Wrap was uniquely delicious. Everything was perfectly cooked. Service was friendly and the Patio looked really nice. All of this, and my bill was still less than $20 for an amazing dinner including the wine!!! They offer takeout as well. Definitely check this place out if you like greek food!
This was the worst experience ever. We were a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids. We got to the resto at 8:37pm. They were busy as the Taste of the Danforth was on. They were closing at 10:00. They said, we are closing soon and only takeout. So we decided since it was late and kids were hungry to do takeout. While we were waiting,10 min later, they took another family of 5 to dine in. When I asked the older guy working there about it he said I dont know, I just do what they tell me (deflecting responsibility) When I spoke to the younger girl at the cash, she said it was the most hectic day (making excuses), then she lied and said they had reservations. I saw the couple when they asked as i was waiting for my takeout order, they had no resos. Needless to say I will not be returning. Food was mediocre. Why we got treated so distastefully, makes me wonder, could it be racism, its a possibility. Anyways, if youre looking for a place with good customer service and good food, this is not it.
Great Greek food and a must try when you are around Greek town. Update 2023: we ordered here for catering and we loved it! Our guests were very happy with the food and impressed with the quality. Food : 5/5
I work for the fantastic cleaning wizards at Prolific Cleaning. Picture this: Im booked for a cleaning mission near a restaurant, so after my cleaning escapade, I decided to embark on a culinary quest. This spot was just a hop, skip, and a jump away, so I thought, Why not dive into a morning gyro? Its been a while since Ive had one, and I was ready to gyro-mania. The chef, a hulk-sized dude rocking tattoos and locks of glory, stepped up. Surprisingly polite for the early hours, given my notorious morning grumpiness. I spill my gyro dreams, and presto, he whips up everything fresh no scrimping on the toppings, mind you building a sandwich that defies the laws of sandwich physics. Now, I called for the chicken gyro symphony, and let me tell you, it was a taste masterpiece. The chicken danced with seasoning perfection, crispy outer armor but a tender, juicy heart. The tomato, delightfully defiant in its firmness (soft tomatoes, begone!), joined the party with an oniony spice twirl. The French fries, neither bossy nor dripping in oil, played their part in perfect harmony. And oh, the tatziki sauce, my dear friends! It boasted a texture so divine, a consistency so spectacular, and a garlic punch that rocked my taste buds world. Lifes wild twists led me to this place, a place I knew nada about. But there he was, a strapping fellow, wielding the gyro spatula like a knights sword, crafting a gyro that knocked sense into my senses. Major kudos, pal, and trust me, Ill waltz right back for another foodie adventure. Well, except for the pork I dont trot down the pork path.
True taste of Greece
One of the best greek experiences I had in this city! Reminded me of being back home! Definitely the best value for money when It comes to Greek food in the Toronto area
An East York staple - the chicken gyro and kontosouvli are excellent.
A great take out or dine spot. The food and service are always great.
Great service with a welcome and a big smile walking in the door! Had the full souvlaki dinner to-go with chicken rather than pork and it was delicious. Great portion size, including the Greek salad. Food
Best Greek food in the city, and it s not even close.
For me, their Gyro is one of the best.
Excellent customer service. Excellent food.
Best Giros i ate in Canada !
Amazing food!
Amazing Food !
Excellent place to eat Greek food
Very authentic, very delicious.
This is our favourite Greek restaurant. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, we love everyone that works there. They always make us feel at home when we walk through the doors. Highly recommend!!! You will not be disappointed
Great place since it opens 11a m The food is always fresh and the place is spotless. No creepcrawlers here on my food as the previous place on Cosburn. Great experience Food
Excellent meal and service! The entrees come with lots of sides-- well worth the price! We also enjoyed the ekmek dessert!!
Food
A new favourite restaurant of mine! Great service, fresh food thats authentic & tastes amazing + decent prices for big portions. I also like how it opens at 11 am lol, sometimes I want an early lunch and nothing is open so this is great :) Food
food is amazing, fresh and homey
