Welcome to our fine Dining Restaurant where we capture the beautiful ambience of India through art and food
If I had to describe this restaurant very briefly, I'd tell you this is a diamond in the rough. This place is squeezed between the shops on Bayview and I would never have expected to see a gorgeous little restaurant like Indian Street Food. It's classy, clean, and very well taken care of. We were lucky to get in just before the dinner rush, and it was nice and quiet, but it fills up fast! The waitstaff were excellent and very attentive. If I needed anything, they were right on top of it, whether it was drink refreshment or the need for more of the delicious food. We ate some table favourites, but the star of the evening was the masala lime lamb. I'm not from the city, but I would come back here again and again to enjoy this dish. It's simple, supple, and absolutely delicious. I could not stop from finishing it and cleaning the bowl. Please visit this restaurant. You won't regret it. Thanks for a lovely meal.
By far, the best Indian food in Toronto. We tried again the tasting menu. It was so good and tasty!!
Decided to dine here today. The menu options were decent, and the dining room was clean. Service needs work since it was slow, however, the staff was knowledgeable about the menu and was able to answer our questions. Ordered a spicy prawn roast for an appetizer. The seasoning was good and had a nice kick but it was salty. We also ordered Kaali Mirch chicken curry and chicken Kadahi. We felt that chicken kadahi was generic, tomato-based and slightly sweet, similar to other curries we had in other restaurants. Nothing sets this dish apart from other places. The Kaali Mirch was our favourite. It was creamy and flavourful. Overall we had a good experience. I would improve the service matching it to Micheline's standard. The bathrooms were clean but needed a little love. The phone answering etiquette needs improvement.
Reading through the reviews, I'd say majority of them are accurate re. the flavors and the hype and I should have listened to them. Clearly this restaurant has been rated in the michelin guide by a non-indian who wasn't able to see through the façade unlike actual Indians who know their tastebuds well and have judged this place rightfully. Though I don't want to only focus on the glum side, the flavours in the Chicken Thali were not all bad, like the eggplant mash, samosa, dal and the dessert were good. But unfortunately everything else fell flat. The chicken curry was a huge disappointment and surprisingly it was the only dish served in a 'Chicken thali'...like for real? For the price and the added charges to my bill, I was like nah...not worth an additional tip. Service was good, and since I went late in the afternoon I was the only one there, so the atmosphere was fine.
Amazing taste Indian food. The top Indian restaurant in Toronto. Great combination from chefs tasting menu.
One of the best Indian restaurants in Toronto. Pretty much every single dish was top notch—in particular, I'd highly recommend the cauliflower appetizer, and the tandoor chicken—the cocktails were no less impressive, and the service was extremely nice. A restaurant fully deserving of the accolades it's won.
This is my first time in an upscale Indian restaurant in Canada, probably 2nd time ever. There's something elegant about the food here, besides being flavourful. Perhaps it wasn't too oily? I'm not sure what it is but I'll definitely be back. Of course, there's certainly level of creativity from the chef, it wasn't common simple Biryani or chicken Tandoori. Service and atmosphere were top-notch as well
I was looking for a fine dining experience with art of food and heard that this restaurant got the Michelin recognition so I had to try it. The ambience is beautiful , the dishes are delicious Must try the Prawn curry , Samosa , Daal , Spicy lamb chops and Eggplant fries .This really is a hidden gem on Bayview. We had an amazing experience and will be going back as we live right around the corner.
Fantastic food!
Highly recommend! Loved the food here - it has a uniqueness to it compared to other typical Indian restaurants. I liked the ambience too! Vegetarian options: Plenty vegetarian options
This place has been on my list for years and finally visited this week, but was left very underwhelmed. The service - staff are friendly and know the menus very well, however, it took about 10-15 minutes to get the bill. I m not sure if this was because they felt we were talking and didn t want to disturb us or if just genuinely slow. Lots of street parking available. The seating is comfortable. The place is decorated well. Drinks: The whiskey drink that my GF had was nice, the mango juice was very watered down. Food: Naans are great. The papad basket is a good light starter. The mixed vegetable korma was okay. The chicken tikka was cooked perfectly, however, there was no flavour or colour to it at all. I don t think I ve ever had such bland chicken, I m surprised at this costing $27. The chicken is apparently marinated for hours (I do not believe this since there was no flavour), I asked for extra spice and heat and they said they d donso, but it was as if they removed all spices and just gave chicken in yogurt. I d seen some photos that others posted of the same product and it was not even close to that colour or charcoal style. I think this is a menu designed for non-Indian palate.
malai kofta was horrible
I ve been coming to this restaurant for years and although it has always been a little bit pricy, I couldn t believe that the same dishes I ate prior to last time could double in price. The food is good but not that good to warrant an increase in prices like that.
Due to slow service i got parking ticket during pickup must speed up service
Please dont claim the authencity if you dont know the real taste. I ordered the butterchicken which you guys claim is the best and authentic which is just another shitty north amaericanised version of it. Aaloo Gobhi matar had a foul smell which made it inedible. worst Indian food I had ever tasted. I am a north Indian Chef and can tell the flavours as soon as they hit my pallet.
We got the Lehsuni Cauliflower and Chicken, it was so yummy!!
Cute place with good service. As someone who is Indian I was disappointed in the food - the apps were the best part tasty chaat options but the mains weren t great! So sad the butter chicken wasn t creamy and maybe too sweet.
We just left the restaurant and it s been a long time since I enjoyed a meal as I did to tonight. Ayush was wonderful and all his recommendations were delicious. I will definitely come back because of the and partly because of the service we received from Ayush and another young gentleman who greeted us. We visited in August 24, 2024 . This was one of my best birthday dinners.
Zero stars! I had the worst experience in this place. . We ordered food worth $200. Today was my husbands birthday and I wanted to make him feel special. The server was extremely rude to us when I was explaining to keep the food low spicy as we went with our 4 year old. One of the dishes was not tasting good at all so we asked him to take it back and ordered something else instead. He billed us for everything and denied to remove the dish he had taken back (probably was instructed by the owner). I tipped him still but feeling very disappointed about my experience today and would like to share my thoughts with folks who care about the experience when they are spending their money and time with family. I am shocked what makes this place have a Michelin guide recognition given the average food for very high price and not to miss the terrible customer service.
Delicious BAINGAN KA BHARTHA ! (minced eggplant with green peas) #eggplant Vegetarian options: The best BAINGAN KA BHARTHA ! (Minced eggplant with green peas) and garlic naan is very good too! Parking: Paid street parking on Bayview, free parking on Manor, Hillsdale, Donegall - 3 to up 10 min walking! Wheelchair accessibility: There are no stairs to go in the restaurant! I am not sure about WC because i did not ask! Please call them first!
The butter chicken and the panak paneer where incredible!
Just another average Indian resto. Roganjosh was pretty tasty, I admit, but very oily (3.5/5), cauliflower bites and samosa chaat were average (3/5). Maybe dining in is a better experience, not sure how else to spot the Michelin stamp, other than the inflated prices.
Amazing flavors and excellent service. It was a beautiful dining experience highlighting all the wonderful and complex spices and aromas of India. All of our dishes were delicious and presented beautifully. Our waiter was attentive, informative and charming. Will definitely go back!
Have loved the food for many years. Eat in and take out. I live nearby and thrilled they have had so much success.
Delicious food well-served. A very pleasant experience in every way.
Some of the dishes are hit some are misses
The food is decent and server was good too. But the owner of the restaurant who was standing at the front desk is extremely rude. I am not sure how this restaurant received high ratings with this kind of attitude. Their online reservation system had malfunctioned which resulted in canceling my reservation request multiple times. The front desk guy started shouting upon our arrival, lied that he tried calling my cell, and finally kept on behaving rudely as somehow he is entitled to behave that way and running a business with this ridiculous mindset. I would give zero star if I could. I will also escalate this issue to Michelin guide as this restaurant does not deserve the Michelin guide status with that kind of customer service.
So, we thought Indian street food company would be all about, you know, street food but turns out, not really. When we got there and tried to order just some street food, the waiter basically told us that we had to order a main course too or leave. Not cool, man. The name doesnt match what theyre serving, and their customer service needs serious work. They should either change the name or teach their staff some manners. I will never come to this place again.
The food tasted fine (a bit too spicy actually) but its too overpriced for the portion sizes served here. Response to the owner below: Thanks for your response. The main reason we didnt bother sending it back was coz it already took way too much time to get our order out and we didnt want to spend more time waiting. About the pricing, Im not saying you should reduce what you charge, thats for you to decide. We knew the place is pricey coming in, that was not the problem to begin with. My beef is with the portion sizes. For example, we were charged $10 for garlic cauliflower that should have been at least double in portion size for that price. Same applies to other things on our order.
Bad Customer Ethics!! I and my husband went there and asked to have a look at the menu and they straight away said you have to order main course to dine here, what?? why?? We were there for street food as the name suggest, but they are not commited to it, we had cravings for street food not dinner or main course. You should welcome your customer and its their choice to order. Very bad experience, Never going back and will tell to all my family and friends as well, never go there as they insult you right at there front desk, i think they are doing this with Indians only. #shame #nevergotothisplace
I seriously doubt you take previous reviews into consideration. Similar thing happened in my case, I was there to have a bite of street food, seriously your name is deceiving. You cannot impose main course on your customers and dont try to defend this behaviour because it is wrong in any way or form. If you feel you are right post the main course condition outside your place then we will see how your business performs. Replying to your ChatGPT copy pasted comment - you are not worth even 1 star would have given negative rating to you guys. Criticism is provided to those who take it constructively and work on it, but in your case you are doomed to fail. Read again my wifes comment and take it seriously. More 1 stars incoming. Experience with you guys IS bad in person and virtually as well. Who said we are giving fake feedback, take criticism seriously. DONT EVER TRY TO INTIMIDATE ME WITH THIS REPORTING THING. Be a professional which you are clearly not, should work on yourself rather than fighting here. Dont waste my sunday, get back to work.
Best Indian food ever Been in India twice Food
Food was decent but not as good as the hype. Vegetarian options: Good options Food : 2/5 |
Got the lasooni ghobi as a starter, which was honestly the highlight of the meal. For mains, we got the lamb biryani and butter chicken with the garlic Naan. It was good, but not good enough for these prices. I have a favorite Indian food spot that is hard to top and also not as expensive so that is affecting my review. Service was great tho.
Would definitely recommend the Lasooni Gobhi. Lighting too dim, but I think thats usually all upscale indian restaurants. However, the food was not upscale. To be honest have had better food, although I would still recommend their butter chicken too. Quite pricy for an average young adult. Also, prompt service! very good.
Really excellent Indian, in a very casual and relaxed setting. Service is great. Wonderful little gem on Bayview.
Good quality Indian food, their winterlicious menu is a scam, small portions - relatively expensive $$$$
Yatin has a great team of Chefs and Servers. Highly professional and dedicated towards their job. The detailing and flavour of the food items are unmatchable justifying Michelin recognition. Keep it up.
This place is not as per what name suggests This is also not for Indian or Asian people looking for Indian or Indian street food Price vs amount is way way more. I felt they looting people. They are able to survive only because mostly native Canadian people, who are mostly their customers, don t know what should be bare minimum taste and quantity, they are providing. They seemed, in my view, very arrogant restaurant and meaning less slogans they have written on right side of wall, as soon as you enter. This store is not for Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Afghanis, basically for all such groups who generally eats Indian food.
Very pricey for street food . The food is a little salty. A few small pieces of fish pakoras cannot be over $20 RE: congrats that u guys were in Michelin guide in 2022. Again not sure how street and fine dining can be a thing but if u feel it it s fine. everything is pricey but pls let me know a place where they serve Indian street food for $50 a person for lunch. (No drink).
Amazing food, workers incredibly sweet, interior is very peaceful and well decorated. I love it!
A first time at a Michelin star halal restaurant experience!! Its worth it.. the food, ambience everything indeed. A big group to have lunch with is perfect .. We tried almost everything off the menu : The samosa chaat, manchurian cauliflower , chicken Tikka. Butter chicken, rogan ghosh, paneer .. everything was just perfect. The Mango Lassi as well its desserts .. were just extraordinary Will definitely visit again!!
Delectable food, warm and friendly staff, excellent service. We had take out before but this was our first time dining in at the restaurant. The tandoori chicken is my personal favourite but every dish goes well together (based on the recommendations of our helpful server). The chef s soup was to die for, honestly I have not has such a spectacular soup in ages, it should be on the menu for everyone to enjoy. Can t wait to return for some authentic Indian food.
Visited this place for lunch with a group. The service overall was pretty good. In the appetizers lasooni gobi was excellent. Samosa chaat was also good. Ordered butter chicken but found to be a little bit more on the sweeter side. Ras malai to finish of was also nice.Overall the food was really good. Halal Vegetarian options: Since it is Indian restaurant there are plenty of Veg options in appetizers, main course.
The staff is very rude.
Food is of good quality, ambiance is lovely . Staff is very friendly
Vegetarian options: Fresh and delicious food Food
Great food. Exceptional service by Rahul. Five stars
They took our food away before we finished, and when I asked for it back, they said they already disposed of it. But we werent finished, and then they decided that they were going to put an automatic 20% gratuity on the 300 dollar bill because there were 5 of us? Wow, Ive never hold back my anger, but because it was my mother 80th birthday, I had to culture dictates. They didnt even offer any compensation for the food we never got to eat. The food was fantastic, and this is our second time back, but I guarantee you there will not be a third time. My suggestion is to go somewhere else you get better service at McDonalds.
Pav bhaji was good but $5 for extra pav is unreasonable
Vegetarian options: Plentiful options for Vegetarians. Food
Decent food, small quaint place Good service We ordered chicken 65, Laal maas, butter chicken, Lasuni gobi and Launi palak paneer along with assorted breads Highlight dish from the ones we ordered was Lasuni palak paneer Vegetarian options: Limited options overall but well prepared
An unforgettably outstanding food. Not sure how to describe it. You gotta experience it for yourself in order to understand what I am talking about. Absolutely recommending it 100%. Wonderful food great people and awesome atmosphere.
I recently visited this Indian restaurant and I was very impressed. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The menu had a great selection of dishes. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Indian dining experience.
Not a great experience with food options Too many menu and too many rules
Ordered eggplant fries, lasooni cauliflower, chaat papdi, lamb thali, coastal prawn curry, rice pudding, mango lassi and masala tea. Everything was pretty good but nothing was surprising. Barely any service.
Interesting decor, better ambiance when the dining room is less busy. Well seasoned food with delightful nuanced flavours. Will definitely return, would like to go with a larger group as I would be able to try a lot more dishes. Unrushed service. Chef Bagwani was able to chat with us, as we arrived before the restaurant became busy, he was very personable.
Adding a 20% gratuity to the bill automatically for a 3 person table and justifying it with a fact that it is a standard procedure after, allegedly, a Michelin Certification is non-sense. The food is alright, but definitely not on a Michelin level. Service, in turn, was very mediocre. Tips are given for the service to the waiters, not to chefs for the food because thats what I am paying for in the first place. Let customers decide how much, if at all, they want to tip, do not shove a check with a 20% tip on it in their face. Bill was paid. Will I support Indian Street Food by ever going there again or recommending it to anyone? Highly unlikely. P.s. Pii Nong Thai next door is a fantastic alternative, with service that is miles better. Responding to your response: Food was good enough to come back. However, instead of refunding a few dollars here and there, work with your staff on the service they provide in the restaurant that was recognized by Michelin. Because there are plenty of people complaining about the SERVICE and not the food. Pro tip: stop adding auto gratuity.
Loved the food here.. specially mah dal, palak paneer and garlic naan.
Excellent food, excellent service and pleasant ambiance made for a delightful dining experience
The vegetarian food was okay but the butter chicken was very bland. Even though we told the spice level to be spicy it was not even medium. The hot sauce that they served with it to match up the spice level didn t even gel up. Totally disappointed with the non veg food. The Ambience was the only thing that was nice about the restaurant.
Nice food
Fantastic fare. Great cocktails.
Best Indian food in Toronto, hands down.
Loved the food. Great service. Both veg and non veg selections were flavourful, served hot, presented well and enjoyed by all.
Good food. Service delayed even after being the only customer in the hotel. Tea tastes more like water (I would never recommend it) starters and main course comes at the same time even after telling the waiter to bring main course later. Long wait for food.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Every dish was excellent and the service was fantastic also.
Everything was delicious, both veg and non-veg. We had the tasting menu and it was excellent.
Fantastic food. Every single dish we had exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend this place to everyone. We will definitely come back.
Amazing food, definitely has some kick but they were willing to lighten the spice for those in our group who cant handle any heat
Really good and authentic pav bhaji and gulab jamun.
Delicious and Very good service.
Would not recommend, food was alright at best but the staff behavior was off putting, almost a greedy vibe.
Surprisingly amazing food. Pau bhaji is a must, really flavourful and delicious. Its a fine dine(not my preference). I will visit again for sure.
Is anybody talking about the weird rules they ve painted on the wall? We weren t allowed to eat there because wearing shorts is against the rules . I m glad we didn t spent our time and money here. Thank you for your warm hospitality:)
Their lasooni cauliflower dish was awesome. A must-have! The veg biryani was just fine. Their chilli garlic naan was really good and equally good was chilli laccha paratha. Their paneer pepper Masala was decent too. The Maa ki daal was creamy and delicious. Overall a good place. It more so caters to the foreign palate and not true Desi taste. But you can visit once. Vegetarian options: Good veg options. Lasooni cauliflower is awesome. Dietary restrictions: You can ask for dietary restrictions.
Parking is an issue They were short staff on a Saturday that resulted in food served on a longer waiting time - presentation and taste was okay Would have liked it to be a bit warmer Price was okay Staff were excellent Perhaps I had high expectations due to Michelin s guide
Had a wonderful dinner here, could not recommend this place more. The service was terrific & the food was delicious. Definitely a find dining atmosphere to the place. I will definitely be returning !
Great ambience and good food
Really enjoyed the experience here. Very nice and cozy vibes. Would recommend the fish fingers! Worth a try
The butter chicken was good but the prawn curry was AMAZING.
Good service and great tasting appetizers and entrees
Great food. Great service.
This place is amazing, cozy, delicious food, good service, I recommend .
We had an amazing experience dining here. The food is amazing with great flavours and the presentation is top notch. Prices are higher than other Indian restaurants but it is a nice fine dining experience to celebrate a special occasion. They deserve the Michelin recommendation.
Came here on a Tuesday evening and there were lots of open tables available. Food selection was amazing and had so many options for anyone with a nut allergy which is usually in a lot of curries. Loved the lamb vindaloo, butter chicken and the paneer stuffed roti. Was so delicious with large portions.
Worth the hype really like the food. I recommend to try their Paneer dishes
It was nice, staff were attentive and accommodating.
DO NOT GO HERE!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! The ambiance at Indian Street Food and Company was disappointing. The restaurant was incredibly loud, despite the absence of any music. The limited space was overcrowded, making it difficult to have a conversation. Upon entering the establishment, I found it to be alright, although a bit crowded. It seemed manageable at first. Unfortunately, the service at Indian Street Food and Company was terrible. I encountered an issue with the food, as I discovered a hair in one of the dishes. When I brought it to the attention of the server, their response was highly unprofessional. They implied that I had placed the hair in the food myself, despite the obvious mismatch in hair color. Neither the staff nor the owner offered any apologies for the inedible food. I ordered several dishes, including the goat vindaloo, chana masala, pav bhaji (which had a hair in it), cod curry, chicken 65 (with overcooked and tough chicken), peas rice (containing small stones), and naan. The presentation of the dishes was unremarkable, and the taste was overshadowed by the presence of inedible substances. Unfortunately, the only standout aspect of the food at Indian Street Food and Company was the abundance of inedible substances found in the dishes. The overall value for the price paid was extremely poor. The experience was far from satisfactory, and the quality of the food did not justify the cost. I would not recommend Indian Street Food and Company to others. It would be wiser to explore other restaurants with similar ratings but better quality and service. Instead, I suggest supporting local Indian businesses like Karaikudi Chettinad Indian Restaurant, where you are likely to find superior food and a more respectful environment. PS: I was about to take the picture of the hair when the server hurriedly took the plate away. So unfortunately no pictures.
Went there for a quick bite and realised it was more of a fine dine place. Will go there again for the full meal.
Joke of a samosa chaat, $16 for 2 samosas floating in a couple of tbsp mysterious liquid (NOT Chutney) not a single Chana or potato in sight. We unfortunately wasted nearly $50 on these here, and this post is a PSA so you don t wink If you have never had Indian food please don t go here, they will ruin it for you for ever. If you love Indian food, don t go here because you know what not to eat.
very good indian food. love it.
Best food over
Chicken biriyani tasted so bad, it has tamarind and tomatoes in it. Who puts tomato and tamarind in biriyani guys. Can you change the recipe please!!!!
Real Indian food! The best in Toronto for sure! And good service.
I think this place used to be quite good with value for your money. But when I went here recently, I was shocked to see my 37$ shrimp dish come with 3 shrimps! They weren t jumbo and didn t even come with rice, which had to be ordered separately. The flavours were decent. The banana leaf steamed fish dish and the garlic naan were the highlights. We were dine in guests and they chose to check-out the pick-up orders before us, making us wait a while. There are better Indian restaurants in this city with much better value.
The food is nice, the ambience is great. The reason for overall lesser rating is because they charged 20% gratuity for just 5 people. I have never seen a restaurant doing that for 5 people. Also its an expensive restaurant.
Went there for Eid Dinner with friends. They only cater to White Diners which is understandable. The manager was RUDE. His flex was Weve been here from past 10 years. The food and ambience was very average. We will never go back. If someone is not eating here, they are literally not missing out on anything.
Was there on a weekend and it was not too busy, the staff was pretty attentive, wish they would have kept the water coming, but only refilled the table twice. The food was decent, and the vibe was nice. This is what we had ordered: Recommend: 1. Lasooni Gobhi 2. Eggplant fries 3. Beef Short Ribs The rest we ordered: 1. Far Basket w/ chutney 2. Butter Chicken 3. Garlic naan 4. Panjim Fish Curry 5. Malai Paneer Kofta I had the mango lassi and that was water down ice mango puree. The mango lassi I usually order elsewhere is thick and flavourful consistency (with no ice cubes in it) . Overall, I don t think the price matched the dishes, a bit expensive in my opinion with the portion given. Will come back for lunch to try their Thali.
I had a disappointing dining experience due to a employe(eventually took our order) who displayed disinterest, condescension, and a lack of professionalism. He frequently made mistakes with our order, showed little attentiveness, and argued. Unfortunately, his behavior overshadowed the average quality of the food and left a negative impression on the overall experience.
Truly amazing food and service. This place deserves 6 stars
Review is for the summerlicious menu. Had been there a few months ago for a corporate dinner and was very satisfied by quantity & taste of dishes. For 2 summerlicious memu + 2 lassis, we ended up $94+tip=$114 on a friday lunch. Food is good, qty was just enough for 2 medium eaters but i dont see any difference in taste with what i used to eat from Banjara or other Indian restaurants, so not sure why i would have to pay double. So (a bit) overpriced for good indian food.
I was quite disappointed I didnt get to have the dinner I had been looking forward to. My husband wanted to have Summerlicious, and I wanted to try food from their regular menu. Both menus were provided to us. When we ordered, the young server told us that each table must use either the Summerliscious or the regular menu. All the patrons sharing the table must choose from only one of the two menus. The rule is One Menu Per Table, because otherwise its too much trouble for the kitchen. I asked him why -He replied ... I was told. My husband tried to compromise, looking to find somethig similar to his Summerlicious dish choices, but couldnt find any. Also if we ordered, say 5 dishes in total instead, it could easily be over $150. We felt stressed and lost interest in paying that much to a restaurant which considers our business as trouble. No notice of the One Menu rule was on their website, nor or the Summerliscious menu posted on their site. The rule was also not posted on the table nor on either menu we were provided once seated. I dont think I will return -it took 1 hr for us to get there taking 2 buses.
Good service. Great food. Fantastic server.
Absolutely amazing, cant say enough about this restaurant. Food was outstanding. Service and atmosphere were also phenomenal
Top notch service! Great food, although it was a bit pricy. We got the chaat papdi, and it was so delicious! The curries were delicious as well. Butter chicken was a bit different that what you usually get! The paneer Jhalfrezi was great, although I feel the paneer cubes were cut a bit too large for me to eat in one bite.
Vegetarian options: The paneer here is top notch. Definitely give it a try. Food
This place is everything I look for in a restaurant: great food, great service, and reasonable prices.
Coming from an indian, this place is THE go-to Indian fare for anyone who needs to be introduced to Indian food. Perfect balance of spices and amazing service. Food
Numerous excellent dishes at this casual Indian restaurant. The samosa chaats are very good as starters - we also enjoyed the fish pakoras and aloo tikki chaat. For mains Id recommend the Palak paneer, paneer tikka and coconut fish curry. Garlic naan is very very good. Vegetarian options: There are plenty!
Warm atmosphere, good menu selection with authentic flavours, friendly and efficient service. Ive been there a few times, very consistent.
Best lamp chops ever.
This place peaked my interest based on its inclusion in the 2023 Michelin Guide. I was not disappointed. The service was excellent, the vibe was chill, and of course the food was top notch. I got the tasting menu which came with 5 appetizers and a main dish which consisted of small portions of different curries, rice, 2 garlic naan pieces, Gulab Jamun, and Raita. It was the perfect amount of food to fill us up but not get too stuffed. The quality and taste of the food was what I was expecting from a place that made it into the Michelin Guide and the service was also up to standard. Overall, I strongly recommend this place if youre nearby and theres an open table! Note that we went on a Saturday at roughly 12 and it was very open, but this place gets much busier at dinner time.
The food was top notch, Manpreet took the time to walk me through the menu and selected the Lasooni Gobi, which was exquisite! Would definitely visit again!
We went there during lunch. We ordered the sample plate that included a variety of Indian food. Everything with no exception was delicious. I also recommend the mango masala. Seriously delicious
This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. Wow! It did not disappoint. We ve been back more than once now to enjoy their tasting menu. Each course is just as delicious as the next. They also offer a wine pairing option as well so you can enjoy a different glass with each course. This is a very filling, absolutely mouth-watering dinner experience each and every time. The servers are so friendly and knowledgeable. They explain each course as they come. I highly recommend doing the tasting menu so you can enjoy all the different menu items.
A wealth of variety available at this amazing restaurant. I highly recommend coming here for some of the best authentic Indian cuisine in Toronto. I really enjoyed the eggplant fires, the samosa chaat papri, the beef short ribs, butter chicken, and all of the lamb dishes. Our group of nine received amazing service and were very happy with how fast our servers brought the food out and cleared our plates for the next course. The atmosphere was great inside, however I d appreciate it more if they didn t play Western pop music - it kind of took away from the true Indian experience. A small detail that I hope doesn t affect anyone else s experience! I m definitely coming back here :)
Best Indian food I had in Canada, everything is so flavorful! Great service and atmosphere! We had the lunch special which is a set meal let you try all kinds of dishes. The butter chicken is so delicious. Parking: Theres paid street parking close by but its not so easy to find a spot depending on the time
One of the best Indian meals I ve had in Toronto!! Traditional but with a modern twist. Service was excellent. Try the Baingan bhartha!
The food is good but was quite expensive. I have to give it 3 stars because while the price is 2x that of other Indian restaurants in the area, the flavor and quality didnt justify the price bump. Also be aware that regardless of service, if you come in with a party of six, theyll charge you 20% gratuity automatically.
Amazing food, cocktails, service and ambiance.
The food was very delicious, although a bit expensive. The service was great, and the atmosphere was very cozy.
Walked in for dinner on a Friday evening. Got a table instantly. The dishes are quite expensive but good portion sizes (had leftovers at the end). For 2 people, after tax and tip, the bill was ~$ 60/person We got 2 appetizers, and 2 main dishes accompanied by some naan and roti. Personally, the appetizers were better than the main dishes. The butter chicken was quite average. The pav bhaji on the other hand was really tasty, and flavourful. Even the chaat was good! The Chili naan was interesting and worth a try. The roti was also cooked well. The service was very good, and the servers gave us recommendations, and asked us multiple times during the meal if we needed anything else and how everything was. Vegetarian options: Indian place, so has a lot of veggie options
This place has such an authentic touch to its food that it really takes you back to India. It serves really good North Indian dishes and the service pretty much adds to why its worth 5 stars. We were serviced by Tarun and despite being new there, he was absolutely great; friendly, polite, and kind. The service was pretty much on time and the ambience adds the last magic touch. Much recommended and of course worthy of repetitive visits.
very awesome and i want to give them 9 stars but there is no option for 9 star..
I had a fantastic dining experience at Indian Street Food Co. in Toronto. The food was not only tasty but also truly amazing, with authentic flavors that transported me to the streets of India. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff who made sure our dining experience was enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to savour delicious Indian street food in Toronto!
Called to make a reservation and was told kids under 6 aren t allowed on the weekends. Ridiculous! They claim to be a fine dine but seem to be little more than a hole-in-the-wall with a nice Instagram presence. Needless to say, we won t be going there and don t care what the food tastes like.
Simply WoW. A must visit
WOW. I ordered Delivery, and opening the Biryani and Chicken Tikka Massala, gave me the aroma of being in India. The taste was eating in a side road food stand.
The owners are very nice and hospitable. Definitely would recommend.
Had a variety of dishes with 4 friends. Everyone thought everything was delicious but the Biryani, Palak Paneer and Baingan Bharta were the standouts for sure. Service was prompt, helpful and kind. Will be back
I had such a bad experience. They have discriminatory policy against people with kids. I was so disappointed. Would never recommend
I wanted to have Indian Street Food and went to this restaurant because the name is Indian Street Food. While ordering street food from a restaurant which has the same name, I was told by the waiting staff that if I am just ordering Street Food that qualifies as an appetizer and this restaurant does not serve appetizers only as it is a Fine Dining restaurant. This was the first time I was told this at a restaurant and I find the comment quite absurd especially because Street Food is in their name. Not sure why they would refuse to serve a customer for ordering food from their menu. I guess I wasnt white enough because all the other patrons were white. I am usually a returning customer if I like food and service. I would have returned with my friends and family if I was served today. Its a loss for them. As for me, there are tens of fine dining restaurants, It took me 5 minutes to find the next one, never returning here again. Too bad for them. As for people reading this review - There are many other fine dining South Asian restaurants like Premium Sweets, Chawrasta, etc - who treat their customers with respect and have a much wider selection of menus. Spend your money there. As for the owner, if you are reading this, I hope you take it as constructive feedback.
Amazing place. Great food, great ambience and service.
They close at 10 pm but we reached there at around 9 but the server told us that we are closed. If you are not going to serve after 9 change the timmings online and don t waste people s time.
Great Place
Excellent service and extremely delicious food! We ordered a bunch of things, the one dish that really stood out was the biryani (goat or lamb)! I ve never had biryani like that in Toronto! We also ordered a bunch of chicken curries, which were very good! Service was perfect and they re very accommodating. Highly recommend!
Not welcoming and poor customer service. Not a kids friendly place. When we entered the restaurant with a toddler, there was not a single customer in the restaurant. And staff didn t even bother to come to us. Just screamed from far that we are fully booked. Didn t even have audacity to say the truth that they don t allow kids.
I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant due to their unfriendly staff. I was told they dont allow certain orders and even denied me the option to dine in when I opted for snacks.
Excellent taste, excellent services at great prices! We ordered Samosa Chaat, Pakora Chat, Eggplant fries and Veg Dum Biryani as well as Murabba Mule and Mogito. The food was very appetizing, the quantity was good and the cocktails were amazing! Such a nice cozy place. Vegetarian options: Good variety!
Ownership must have changed. It used to be good. The food is now mediocre and prices dont match the poor quality.
Ive been eager to experience this place for quite some time. Being recognized by the Michelin Guide for two consecutive years, it intrigued me with its blend of fine dining and Indian cuisine. Opting for their tasting menu proved to be a delightful choice the experience was truly exceptional and justified the cost. Tej, our server, stood out with his extensive knowledge and helpful demeanor, adding to the overall enjoyment. Despite not capturing photos, the culinary experience, especially the Lamb and Dal makhni, was unforgettable. Looking forward to returning soon!
Ab absolute gem in the GTA! I recommend this place to everyone who loves indian food. The preparation and flavours are top notch.
Service was on point!! So attentive! They serve this soup in the beginning it was so good! Food was incredible too.
I travel from California to Toronto often my first stop is ISF . Just delicious. A unique blend of indian gourmet food and excellent service.
Bought dinner for a group of friends here - the food is exceptional - authentic, delicious, and interesting for those that are looking for options that go beyond what most Indian restaurants in Toronto offer. Really beautiful, intimate restaurant. The roadside chaat papdi is a must-try (and a really good starter for people who arent as familiar with Indian food.) Also recommend the Goat Masala.
On Friday, November 27, my son and I ordered a few dishes. I ordered chicken vindaloo, a dish which I like and had in many places before. I was shocked when this highly recommended restaurant served a vindaloo sauce, which was made literally from a barbecue sauce plus some indian spices. Im not sure what to make of it, but they are definitely fooling people. I gave it one star, but for that foolishness, it deserves zero. The owners did not respond to my challenge. if the chef can remake the same sauce from scratch exactly like it was served to me and my son, I will retract my review, apologize, and pay for the dish.
Delicious food good atmosphere big portions good staff. The bathroom is not wheelchair accessible! Wheelchair accessibility: The bathroom is not accessible, otherwise good
This place was so good, staff was nice, everything was quick and how can I forget the food was amazing. My favourite items on the menu are: Braised Beef Short Ribs & Roadside Chaat Papdi
I went here with a group of friends for lunch and is very impressed with the food. The combination of flavor and ingredients hits the spot.
They should win the star next time hopefully..Perfect food and great hospitality.. Food was balanced and spice level was perfect neither bland nor spicy.. A must visit place for indian food.. Food : 5/5
The food was filling, but not as good as I expected based on the reviews. The Western touch to the essence of Indian Street food was well applied here, but didnt enhance the Indian Street food experience for me. The menu items were very creative and added to the atmosphere. Some menu items, such as the Lasooni Gobhi, were spectacular, while other items, such as the Pav Bhaji and Chaat Samosa, were not as well prepared with the taste and proportions and took away from the experience of Indian Street food.
Decided to visit Indian Street Food and Wow!!! It s been a few years since I ve been back and I must say it s just like I remembered. The food and service is like no other in the city. I arrived with a few minutes left until kitchen closed and the meal was as good and fresh as could be. The kind staff took time to sit and talk to us after restaurant shut down for the night which made the experience all that much better. This place is definitely top of my list when I m looking for good home cooked Indian Food. Thanks again to the kind staff. VS
Thanks to the reviews, we found this place! Ordered butter chicken, naan and chicken tikka , everything tasted great. The guy who served us gave great recommendations! Definitely a place to go with friends and family . Cheers
Ordered their chicken 65 and this is what I got.. $18.95 for 6 pieces of chicken.. needless to say I will not order from here again..
Yatin and his team catered for our wedding of 200+ people and it all went amazing. Our guests really enjoyed the food and they were pleased with his service. Would highly recommend him for all your future catering needs and definitely visit his restaurant for some delicious Indian food.
Food was bland and portion size was very small. Staff was extremely disrespectful to my toddler. No go for me. Reply to your feedback: He wasn t moving around the restaurant with Knife. He was on the table holding butter knife for like 2 seconds and you said it is unsafe for other people. Also, when we had just sat at the table and my kid was playing with spoons, you bluntly told my wife and I quote: Could you control him, there are other people in the restaurant too which was very rude and disrespectful. If you can t tolerate even 2 seconds of noise for patrons with kids, you should have a policy to nt allow kids less than 10 years. Lots of restaurants have this policy upfront as they don t wanna deal with it. Also, while my kid was going out of restaurant to go with his mom, he slipped and fell down and your other waiter was least bothered to pick him up even though he was literally beside him. That s basic etiquette, no? Not sure if the manager wrote this reply himself, but dnt call urself our Great manager was worried , that shows how self centered you are. Worst manager and behavior. And needless to say food was overpriced and they add 18% gratuity to every order by default regardless of table size, which is appalling.
Congrats on getting the Bib Gourmand Michelin designation! Me and my partner were so excited to taste your dishes and needless to say we werent disappointed. We got takeout and the butter chicken was the right balance of creamy and tender while the coconut rice was refreshing yet flavourful to every bite. Great fresh Naan as well. We look forward to coming back again soon and trying many more dishes. Thank you!
Chaat Papdi, Butter Chicken, Laal Maas, Coconut Prawn Curry, Sweet and Sour Eggplant
Food, hospitality and atmosphere were thoughtful and came together for a nice meal, the home brewed lemonade was yum. Mas lamb was my favorite; panner tikka, shitake mushrooms and Rawalpindi chana were tasty Nice place to introduce a friend or colleague to good Indian good
Love the food, always delicious and fresh. Been here many times and will keep coming back. I even had them cater my wedding years ago I loved it so much!! I highly recommend going for a delicious indian meal.
Good food, always tasty and friendly staff. Prices seem to have increased, but generally worth it.
Maybe I had some bias before going in after all the hype. The prices are higher than average but expected. Nice decor, not sure of washrooms. Food was good but I was surprised that the riata and chutneys were all so watery which slid through my fork and made it more difficult to experience. I also recommend that they update their small speaker system as they had some songs playing that had some bass and either it was too much for the speaker or it is not secure and rattling, which was constant and annoying to my audiophile ears. It s similar to when a place of business has a radio station half tuned on and your ears are met with all that static. Sadly, I don t think I would go back.
Delicious! Can t wait to go back.
We moved 2 hours out of Leaside when we retired. We always buy Indian street food when in town to take home. ALWAYS FANTASTIC QUALITY AND PRICE.
Our go-to Indian food spot in Toronto for almost 20 years! Amazing food, excellent in-house delivery service, reasonable prices. Consistently the best Indian food we ve had in North America. Can t go wrong in our opinion.
Extremely racist restaurant (against Indians itself). My wife and father went inside the restaurant while I was searching for parking. They checked with the staff about table availability and if they are serving ala-carte in addition to Diwali fixed menu. Restaurant was 20% full. The staff said that table was available and they are indeed serving ala-carte too. Based on this I paid for parking and it was a bit far from the restaurant. When I reached there, the manager comes out and says all tables are reserved (only 20% of the tables were actually occupied) and they are not serving ala-carte. Asked him about waitlist and the manager says they are not accepting any more tonight. Why did the staff confirm these things then? In the restaurant, the 4 tables which were occupied were all occupied by white people. I reached home right now (straight from the restaurant) and while writing this review stumbled upon the join waitlist and reserve table buttons over here. And guess what? They are accepting on waitlist as well as allowing to reserve a table for tonight. It seems the manager did not want Indians to dine there. Pathetic attitude of the manager/owner.
Tasty food. The Michelin recognition gave a lot of hype and made my expectations high. While I think the food was good, it wasnt the best Indian food that I have had in Toronto and wasnt a great value for the money. It is worth trying for a special occasion.
So good, can t wait to make it back.
Giving tips is a gesture by a customer when they like the services, which should be as per the customer s choice, the staff in the restaurant would simply add the tip % on their own and will present it as if it is a compulsion for the diner to pay . WHAT KIND OF SERVICE IS THIS Really disappointed!! Thank you for your prompt response, I really wish if your server would have done that what your manager did AFTER WE ALREADY PAID THE BILL!! . We would have anyways given the tip but the way your server presented it to us was as if it is a mandate to give the tip which was wrong . By the time your manager came in we already paid the bill it would have been really rude if we would have taken the refund for the tip .instead of supporting the wrong, this somewhere shows it is the management that has taught their staff to do things this way!! .kindly educate your staff to do the things right way . Ask your staff to let the customer decide, How much percentage of the bill they want to provide as tip not just assume and charge them as per their whims and fancies . I would have happily given the tip . But the way your server made us give the tip was absolutely wrong .
Wow must try indian resto. Everything was on point. The dishes were unique and flavorful. The different breads were crispy on the outside with a soft inside. Everything was put together very well.
TLDR: For non-Indians: there are other more authentic Indian restaurants IN and around Toronto with better food and far better hospitality. For Indians: there s a reason why this place isn t frequented by Indians. See above. Details: I am not one to write reviews but felt compelled to write this one. I was excited to visit since it was listed under the Bib Gourmand category in Michelin Guide s inaugural list. We had a reservation and arrived on time. Our server was Yatin, also the manager IIRC, and let s just say Yatin could use a few lessons in hospitality and basic politeness. He was throwing attitude around for no reason. We had very politely asked a simple question to which he gave a rather sarcastic and rude reply completely unprofessional and uncalled for. There are a couple of good dishes but it is nowhere close to being the flagbearer of Indian food. The Papad platter boasts a combination of 5-7 papadums made from different flours/ingredients except that s a lie it s all one kind of papadum and that too the most basic one you get at any Indian restaurant. The biryani comes with undercooked peas. The serving staff was uncoordinated would not clear plates completely or not in time for other food, would let hot food sit there to get cold, and you are forced to order all courses at once which was a first for us never heard of this at ANY other restaurant (again for no reason because it was nowhere near closing time). The quality of food was above average but definitely not the best there is in Toronto. Yatin seems to throw attitude around as if this is a three Michelin Star restaurant sad that he fails to back that up with the quality of food and hospitality provided. If you choose to dine at this restaurant, go sooner rather than later with this attitude, this place is going to fall as quickly as it rose. If you want authentic Indian food for better prices and way way way better service go elsewhere. EDIT: Response to owners reply: I did mention papad, biryani, food being left to get cold, and overall service about staff being uncoordinated (not just Yatins behaviour). Pretty sure you havent actually bothered reading the full review which just goes to show what you value as a company. Also, last I checked, the kind of staff hired (especially the manager) and the way they behave is a reflection of your restaurant. So I guess screw us for complaining about people YOU chose to hire. Cherry on top - I recall there being a review about your staff being racists towards Indians which is either now removed or lost somewhere in the other reviews. Gee - I wonder how two parties from the same background complained of being treated poorly. Lack of respect, accountability, and accusations of racism - *applause*! You have outdone yourself!! But of course you dont care because the food, staff, and service reflects everything and everyone else except the owner. :/ Free advice: next time someone reviews your restaurant and points out problematic behaviour - try to fix the problem instead of blaming the patron.
Very good food and service..
Food is overpriced and not the best quality, and takes forever to be prepared.
Toronto s best Indian food. Absolutely well deserved recognition by Michelin bib gourmand.
Waitress was rude, food quality went down since the last visits as well as the portion size. The apps were decent but the mains were mediocre. The owner or manager also added his own gratuity to a bill on a small table, punched it in the machine, handed it to me and stood in my face until I paid it. I have no issue tipping generously when the service is good, but this is just rude and flat out weird. Youre on Bayview, people tip well here already, dont embarrass yourself like that. I thought after they were featured in the Michelin guide theyd be classy and improve but it looks like the opposite is happening, what a shame. I used to be a regular here and I definately wont be coming back. You can catch me at Aafrien around the corner on Eglinton, better food and better staff.
Wow ! Delicious food ! Great service ! Had a fantastic dinner with my wife there this week. Lives up to the hype of the Michelin recommendation and service was great as well ! Will definitely be returning !
Best food with best people .. Food is sooo yummy and owner of the resturant is amazing person
Outstanding place, best in the city. We like the dinner for 2 and it s always exceptional no matter which you choose . Tikka Masala particularly good. Staff is friendly and pickup always on time and well presented. Recommend .
Total disappointment, esp. with the expensive prices. We had Chaat papdi - this was good and flavourful Chana masala - this was so salty, it was inedible. Potato kofta mappa - this was actually good Garloc Naan - dry, crunchy, bland. Roti - dry, small portion Basmati rice - it was decent. Service was friendly. Unfortunately, we will not go back.
Fabulous dinner, excellent service and even better food. Laal maas was really good, nice and spicy. Prawn curry a hit too! Will be back
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner, great service, atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. We had the tasting menu, which was excellent!
Fantastic food, warm welcoming atmosphere, attentive and friendly service, will definitely be coming back (:
Dietary restrictions: Nut allergy friendly
Excellent food and service. The apps are amazing and would recommend it
Pretty good chicken biryani
Got take out today and the food was great! Prices are higher then the norm but I think it makes sense personally for what it is.
Dont know why there are negative reviews, but the food and the ambiance is perfect and lovely for dinner or lunch.
Excellent food, warm recommendation!
Taste and the service are good!
Ambience was good but food is not very authentic, as flavors seem toned down for the Canadian taste buds.
Delicious, Great food.
The food here is amazing! Every item on the menu is so tasty!! Amazing good and exceptional service..must try!!
Delicious food and great service! To start we got the eggplant fries (soooo good) and chicken 65. For mains we got the braised beef (excellent!) and butter chicken with butter naan and basmati rice. Every bite was scrumptious and the servers were all super nice and attentive without being intrusive. Cant wait to go back
Great quality and Rich flavours
Won a well deserved Michelin Bib Gourmand rating in 2022. Excellent and innovative food, outstanding service, comfortable and charming ambiance. Weve enjoyed every dish weve had here. Servers are very well informed. Ask for their opinion. Try their innovative cocktails too.
