The food itself is not the worst because their food is really cheap. However, the food wasn't the best, it was kinda weird. I ordered the veal sandwich, and all I could taste was just straight up tomato, and nothing else. The meat wasn't tender, no seasoning, and tasted off, it kinda reminds me of plane food. The bread is really big, and oddly really stuffy ?? Dunno how to describe it, but bread didn't really fit well. However, I have to admit that it's really filling ans they do give a lot of meat for the price. The place is kinda small and messy, but I think most people do take outs.
All the good reviews are friends of the owner. Salt on salt and dry food and waste of money. You won’t get anything good here. Nothing is fresh and my pasta and sandwich was sickening. The pizza is even worst
Never order the pasta here, they're all salty and dry. The sandwiches are also tasteless. I like how they're advertising it as Detroit styled Italian food but nothing about it is Detroit styled or Italian at all.
It's a small restaurant with great food service by the chef and the owner! You will enjoy the food and take my word you SHOULD VISIT this place
Tried this place for the first time since the reviews were good, so let’s start with what was good! The amount of veal and toppings you get is great. Alright that’s all the good, now for the bad, as an Italian who’s had many veal sandwiches from all over the city, this was probably the biggest disappointment I’ve had so far. 1. The sauce: This is not good sauce period, they put a lot of it (far too much as it was spread all over the wrapper before I cleaned it up) it tasted like a sauce I’d expect to get from a cheap can in a store and quite frankly smelled a bit nauseating. If you are expecting an authentic Italian sauce this is not it. 2. The veal: lots of meat, love that… BUT it’s cut far too thick for a veal sandwich and made eating it incredibly difficult. It wasn’t especially tender either and was more chewy than I expected. 3. The bun: The bun is a very basic white roll that was far too dense for this already dense sandwich 4: The toppers: I got mushroom, cheese and hot peppers like I always do, cheese and mushrooms were fine but nothing special and the hot peppers weren’t spicy enough to come through all that horrible sauce In all, this sandwich had potential and if it had a half decent sauce it would have been much more palatable. My friend and I had a stomach ache after eating the first half and tossed the rest (take that as you will), my recommendation, if you enjoy food that’s trying to be Italian badly, go for it. If you want a real veal sandwich, this is not the place in my opinion. Service was friendly that’s a plus, but the restaurant itself is not a place I’d recommend sitting to eat at now with all the construction in the area.

A small shop that served up big portions in the veal sandwiches, numerous layers of veal cutlets smashed thin and fried with a breadcrumb coating, allowing it to soak up tons of their sweet and tangy tomato sauce, along with a topping of hot peppers and an additional order of mushrooms inside for another layer of umami.
Delicious, fresh, warm service, massive portions, and open late. Definitely coming back. Got a veal sandwich and bruschetta. Had half of it and was so full. Nick is very warm and welcoming.
I visited Gianni's for the first time and it was absolutely amazing! I chose the veal sandwich, which was incredibly delicious and had some of the freshest veal I've ever tasted. Eating it might get a bit messy because the sauce was just right, and there was definitely more veal than bun. The owner is super friendly – he even asked for my name and introduced himself to build a connection. They offer daily specials, and the prices are really reasonable for what you're getting. 10/10

Incredible food, efficient service, my only note is that I wish for the digital Pizza sign to be longer. My friends and I yearn for longer pizza content and LED letters and the want shakes my very soul. I can only hope and pray to the owner of Giannis Pasta + Italian sandwiches that the video board is made longer.

I recently had the pleasure of trying a delicious bolognese dish! The dish was made with only a few basic ingredients, yet the resulting flavor was truly outstanding. The blend of spices used in the recipe was exquisite and elevated the dish to new heights. However, there was a minor issue with my order not being what I had asked for. However, despite this issue, the overall experience was fantastic because of the delicious food.
I had the special today. It was lasagna for me and my wife. It was so salty, we couldn t get past the top layer, as it was incredibly salty. We had to throw it away! We were upset. Because we are regulars to both establishments by the owner John

Giannis is a friendly neighbourhood spot and throwback to a time where you could get go pick up a tasty and affordable meal like it was cooked at home. Super friendly staff and you get about as much bang for your buck here as you can anywhere. My girlfriend and I are new to the Greektown area and are already weekly customers. 5/5!
When I come here, I always get their pasta because the owners know whats UP! Veal sandwich? Fire. Pizza? The best crust I ve ever had. GARLIC BREAD? Soft, fluffy, crispy all at once. Anything you order here will blow you away! The flavours are beautiful and everything is made with so much love and you can tell from the moment you walk in and get a huge smile from the owner. I ordered the potato/rosemary pizza.....and I havent had this pizza since I was a kid when my dads friends wife made this for us -they both immigrated from Italy and all her cooking was INCREDIBLE. Its been SO long since I had this and people thought I was BANANAS for taking about this pizza. (Im also lactose intolerant so this really was so amazing to experience genuine pizza again!!!! For a 16 pizza it was $21.99 and honestly, WILL buy again. I got delivery, so I REALLY look forward to going in person and trying it fresh, plus other items!! Tysm for the delicious meal and lovely memory!!

Stumbled across this place for the first time and so happy I did! I ordered the Alfredo and it was perfection! But what stood out the most was how kind the people were! After finding out this was my first time visiting, they welcomed me with a free beverage! Good businesses with kind people are a dime a dozen so I hope everyone gets to experience the magic of this place!

Ordered the Chicken Alfredo for takeout and was unpleasantly surprised. I m not sure if they forgot the sauce? The pasta was entirely bland and was just cooked pasta with bland mushrooms and chicken. There was next to zero sauce and we were looking everywhere in the bag to see if we missed a container of sauce that we had to mix in ourselves. Our pasta also looked completely different compared to other photos of chicken Alfredo on their page. Glad that other people had a good experience here, though!

Delivery pizza how you remember it. Lightly charred crust, those oily pepperonis with the cured taste from a good supplier, intensely garlicky-oregano sauce that isnt overly sweet like everything else on the market. V. Happy.

Yesterday I decided to try Giannis Pasta on Pape Ave. for dinner. While I parked and headed to the location I saw a man who was clearly in the throes of a mental health crisis. Yelling out violently, knocking over easel signs in front of stores, walking in front of traffic and yelling/screaming at cars... As I entered I noticed the guy heading in our direction so I told/warned the man behind the counter (Gianni? that there was a mental health crisis happening and he snapped right to it and headed to see. I was a bit afraid Gianni was going to confront the guy BUT instead he put his arm around the guys shoulders and pulled him in. Sat down with him at Tzatzikis patio and talked for a moment - then went in and got a bag of food for the guy and hugged him again as he gave it to him with some encouraging words. Ive been thinking about Gianni and The Guy since and I finally realized the feeling it stirred. Proud to live in Greektown Toronto with such wonderful people like Gianni!! PS the lasagna special was delicious and one serving did my late lunch and my dinner later!! Comment
Best pizza I ever had!!
Hands down one of the best pizzas Ive ever had - totally fitting as their pizza was one of the top runners in a Canada-wide competition! The owner, John, was also a delight to meet, no wonder they have so many regulars.
Went in and ordered the chicken sandwich special for take out. It was easily the best chicken sandwich I ve ever had. The tomato sauce is incredible. Huge portion for a great price! The customer service was excellent as well. Super kind gentleman working there. I will for sure be a regular at this place going forward.

This place shouldn t be operating. I ordered 2 spaghetti carbonara last night from Uber eats and it was horrible. The pasta had no sauce no taste whatsoever.

The food is delicious and reasonably priced. I recommend the pizza, sandwich special, and spaghetti and meatballs. This small restaurant has been a wonderful addition to the neighborhood since it started up a few years ago. Id also like to give a special thank you to Nick for being such a friendly guy and neighbour!

I ordered the fettucini alfredo on uber eats. Buy 1 get 1 promotion. I would say there was enough sauce in the dish to satisfy a mouse. Also the mushrooms used are apparently canned mushrooms. Overall i think i wouldve enjoyed such a dish if i was stuck in a desert and had no other option :) .
Ordered carbonara for delivery and the sauce was scrambled eggs and the whole thing was dry. Smh. They gave me 8 or 9 tiny pieces of guanchale bits for a full plate of pasta. What a waste of money.
I ordered the Fettuccine off the new menu. Great meal and a large portion size too. Super friendly service and got my meal cooked by the owner himself lol. I look forward to eating there again.
The best food and friendliest service ever! We came upon this restaurant when we were stuck in the city with car troubles. It ended up being the best experience! Husband had the veal sandwich which he absolutely loved. I had the cheese pizza. Perfect crust, amazing homemade sauce and lots of cheese!

AMAZING! NUTELLA PIZZA!!! Fresh hand rolled dough with sliced almonds, bananas, 4 layers of chocolate and Nutella, 10/10!!!! . Also got a chicken and veggie pizza, amazing dough and fresh and delicious toppings. Also tried some tiramisu for dessert, it was perfect! THANK YOU GIANNIS

Today was my first visit. The Veal sandwich was the daily special. I got it completely loaded for under $10 and not only was great but it was the size of head. I thoroughly enjoyed the food coma that accompanied my meal. I was completely satisfied with my meal and I would eat another if I could. Also, please note it as 13 plate in the photo and I can t stress enough how large the Veal sandwich is!
Tried to walk in and pick up some lunch. Door was wide open but no one was there. Waited for 10 mins for service. Very disappointing.

Giannis showed spectacularly how you right a wrong! After a glitch on a delivery app, I only got one pepperoni pizza out of two from a BOGO deal on the app. The apps customer service agent would not correct it - except to remove the tip charged to me (effectively, blaming the driver, who did nothing wrong). But when I called the restaurant, John the owner confirmed that the order came through as just one pizza, but that hed just send a second pizza to me anytime. Heres my number, text me when you want it and Ill drive it over, were his words. A week later, I texted him and then he said, What do you want on your pizza? - as if to say, whatever I want in addition to pepperoni ( i.e. going over and above the original BOGO deal on pepperoni pies!). When the pizza was delivered and I went to tip, it was refused. Im Johns brother, so dont worry about it, said the driver. I tried again, and he wouldnt take it. This was a master class on rare great service and I wanted to share that with anyone reading, as the bar is so very low these days... Thank you again Giannis!

Great new shop serving hot Italian sandwiches, pizza, and pasta. The veal sandwiches were very tasty and portions were large. Sandwiches were made on fresh bread, with nicely seasoned tomato sauce, and a very thick and generous piece of breaded veal.
Had a Veal sandwich and a cold cut sandwich (I shared with the ladyfriend, I couldnt eat all that. Very good. Nice bun, generous portion. Pizza wasnt available when I went, but I hope to try it next time. The man and woman working were very kind and caring about our satisfaction. Nice meal.

Ordered an assorted sandwich I got it home and theres no lettuce no tomatoes and no cheese which is standard on an assorted sandwich. Absolutely terrible in the garage it went $10.50 plus tax.
No No No!!! Gave this joint a try on a take out order. Chicken sandwich was dry and tasteless. I suspect the cutlets were cooked and refrigerated long before I entered the restaurant. The reheated hunks of meat were dry and sinuous and so thinly sliced the resulting product closely resembled bits of shoe leather. It s a shame to think an animal gave up its life to end up like this. Alfredo sauce is skimpy and so pasta was rendered dry even when extra sauce was requested. Chicken was requested with the pasta but the portion was mean and almost non existent. Will not be going back!!!
